Appearance:
Weighing in at 180 lbs. and reaching exactly six feet tall, Thomas is not exactly short. Built large, but not overly so, he is broad in the shoulders and hips; he has strong legs and well-defined arms. His hands are long and slightly thin, but wide enough to be considered large hands. He is thin without being scrawny, a feat he achieved from hiking all over the place with a large backpack. Much stronger than he looks, he has taken some people by surprise when they find out how strong he really is. Thomas has blue-green eyes that are observant, but hidden behind rounded rectangular gold-brown glasses that always seem to be a little dirty. He has short brown hair, but it is fairly messy and held back from his head with a wide purple headband. He wears a dark grey zipper hoodie, which is normally unzipped to reveal his red t-shirt underneath. The hoodie was also specially built to have a mask to protect against dust and sandstorms, and a hood for added insulation in the colder months. Thomas blue jeans are slightly faded from wear, but are well-kept without any holes in them. He wears flip-flops most of the time, but has black boots that he puts on in cold or rainy weather, or when hiking around rocky areas. Despite walking outside most of the time, he has a pale complexion that burns if out in the sun for too long without proper protection, but never tans. During the warmer months, he is seen with his jeans rolled up, or wearing cargo shorts, and going barefoot, if the ground is fairly soft.
Personality:
Laid back and kind, Thomas is a very easygoing individual. While his nonchalance may come across as apathetic sometimes, he really does care about his friends and other people he comes into contact with. Yet he can be a very lazy individual, putting things off until the last minute before he finally follows through with something. Patient as well as kind, he can put up with just about anybody, even some people who would be considered insufferable by most. Able to reach an even ground between just about anyone, Thomas has few enemies. While he is kind, it is to a fault; he does not put up with bullies at all, and they are one of the few things that can anger him. While it doesnt happen very often, Thomas can grow angry to the point of almost murderous intent. However, if he is angry but grows calm, this is when he is at his most dangerous. Again, it hardly happens, but hes not someone youd want to test the limits of his patience (as vast as it is). While Thomas enjoys traveling, and can follow a map pretty well, his sense of direction is terrible. If he loses his map or miscalculates, he can spend days wandering around trying to figure out where the heck he is. While he is fairly smart, Thomas tends to overthink things, and this can lead to indecisiveness on his part. In contrast to this, he is very stubborn, and once he decides something, good luck changing his mind. Despite his shortcomings, the good outweighs the bad, and he is usually competent at finding his way and deciding what to do.
History:
Thomas story begins in a place outside of the well-known regions. When he was young, Thomas and his family lived far to the southwest of the Unova region, out in the country away from civilization. In this place where they lived, they were closer to nature than anywhere or anything else, and Thomas spent much of his childhood hiking and exploring the surrounding countryside. Because of his naivety, he often found himself in troublesome situations with Pokémon or nature itself. But he would always get out in one piece and make it home for supper, more or less. More than once or even twice, his parents sent their Braviary to get him out of trouble and back home.
Thomas parents led simple lives; his father was a Pokémon musician who took up training when he was younger, and had even gotten some gym badges. However, he took up music writing full time when he met Thomas mother, so he could stay at home and not worry about leaving them behind. Thomas mother was a teacher at a trainers school, and many students learned the basics of battling from her. When Thomas was 3, his parents had a little girl who they named Sarah. Sarah stayed at home with her parents, but sometimes ventured out with Thomas when she felt adventurous. When Thomas was 8, his parents had another little girl whom they named Evelyn.
Thomas had a habit of trying to befriend Pokémon who were overly vicious or territorial, and would always come back from his little adventures scd and bruised. But this never deterred him. However, when he was seven years of age, he found himself being hunted by a pack of Houndoom; a scary situation for a grown man, much less a child. He was able to evade them by running into a thick wood, but he was trapped without a way out, and feared for his life. His mother and father noticed that he was absent by the time dinner rolled around, so they started searching for him and sent out Liberty, their Braviary, to scour the skies. Thomas had avoided the Houndoom pack for a while, but they were closing in on him. He climbed a tree, higher than they could jump, but he was more or less stuck. Liberty heard Thomas frightened whimpers and saw the situation. Without a thought of her safety in mind, Liberty swooped in heroically, and fended off all the Houndoom. Tiredly, Thomas lay on her back as she flew him home. He went to bed without supper that night, but he had formed a bond with the majestic bird Pokémon of his parents.
From then on, Thomas always ventured out with Liberty, and she was happy to comply. Thomas parents were happy that their son had a guardian to travel with, and were able to have sounder minds whenever he went out on his excursions. Liberty and Thomas grew closer as they traveled more together, and often Thomas would ride on Libertys back so she could take him further out. One of their favorite spots to travel was Star Lake, a lake said to be formed by a falling star, a meteorite. It had very blue water and the green that grew around the lake housed many Pokémon who were content to watch the boy and the bird. One day, when Thomas was nine, he, Sarah and Liberty found a wounded Lapras on the shore of the lake. For the next few months, they nursed the hurt Pokémon back to health. When it was fully healed, Lapras would let Thomas Sarah ride on its back out across the lake while Liberty flew above, always watching them and keeping them safe. The Lapras took a liking to the three, and decided he wanted to come home with them. Sarah named him Sheldon.
When Thomas turned 10, he was excited to get his trainers license so he could finally start an adventure of his own. He had even been practicing battling with Liberty, Sarah and Sheldon against some of the more rambunctious wild Pokémon that he encountered. The family was met with some exciting news then; they were moving to the Unova region so Thomas father could start a new job. More importantly, Thomas could finally start his own journey and perhaps take on the Pokémon League. When they arrived to Unova, the Walker family moved to Mistralton City, where they live today. Thomas mother started teaching at a local trainers school, and was quickly accepted as a teacher. However, Thomas father had gotten into the delivery business. He had written an entire album that he had hoped to sell, but could not deliver it properly from their old town. He started working with Miles, the owner of the cargo business, and began shipping his albums all over Unova and the world. Meanwhile, Thomas attended his last year of Trainers school. During that last year, he befriended a girl named Skyla, who just happened to be Miles granddaughter. She seemed to be entranced by Liberty and the bond she and Thomas shared. Thomas and Skyla then parted ways, as she decided to try her own way of training.
Thomas gained a trainers license, and rather than taking the gym challenge, he decided to join a family friend and travel to another region to see some different sights. He didnt feel ready to take on any gyms, but he felt like trying his hand at battling. For three years, he traveled the Kanto region with that family friend, and he battled, with Liberty by his side. He and Liberty were a good team, but she was Thomas parents Pokémon. When he returned home, he decided to just stay and travel the Unova region a bit from the back of Liberty. He got into a few battles, but didnt really actively train. He helped out around the cargo hangar, but that was about it. Four years later, Skyla returned, and challenged Thomas to a battle. The fight was close, but Skyla ultimately won. Shocked, Thomas didnt know what to think. But he discovered that Skyla had become a gym leader, and his resolve strengthened. He decided to travel around Unova for a while and gain more experience. He returned after three years, steady and sure of what he needed to do. He challenged Skyla once more to a battle. He lost again.
With these new experiences in mind, Thomas new what he had to do. The family friend he had traveled with had moved to a small town called New Bark town, in the Johto region. Bidding his sister, his mother and father, and Liberty goodbye, he left to travel the Johto region. Liberty and Thomas were both sad, but Thomas was convinced he needed to become strong alone. He promised Liberty that he would return, and when he did, they would combine their strength and beat Skyla together.
