Struggling for only a moment or so to keep her thoughts together and to push away the darkness that was trying to overcome her, Emiri slowly started to gain control again as those thoughts and memories started to ebb away back into the darkest recesses of her mind. Nimbus stood there quietly with her, letting her take her time to compose herself, and he slowly felt her energy change, becoming more neutral, but certainly not as bright as he had seen it before. He couldn’t fathom what it was they had all been through for it to bring such a horrible energy to this human, but right now it wasn’t in his place to ask, he should have known better. If they wanted to tell him one day, if he found out later in the future, that would be fine, but he could tell that any recount of what had taken place was just too painful. She didn’t know what it was about Nimbus yet, but there was just something calm about him, something that made it just ever so slightly easier to keep her thoughts away, and perhaps it was the remorse she thought she could feel, his want and desire to help and be so genuine, but after a moment or so Emiri’s thoughts were no longer flashing over snippets of that horrible night, and she was able to focus on the actual reality around her. She looked to the Raichu beside her and she could see the sorrow in his eyes, the way his ears drooped to the sides of his head and how he fumbled with his paws. There was no reason that she could be upset at him, he didn’t know any of what they had been through or that it would bring up such powerful memories, and Emiri reached out a small hand at his soft apology.
”It’s okay Nimbus. I know you didn’t mean anything by it,” Emiri spoke after a moment, her voice soft though distant as she placed her small hand on top of his head, petting his soft fur as a sort of reassurance. She could feel him relax into the touch, knowing that she did always have a way with Pokemon and being able to appeal to their physical senses.
Having dealt with the Walrein that decided to come at him from the water, Flareon was a little done around water just for now since his fur was still a little wet again at the giant behemoth splash and throwing its weight around. Instead, as he was moving through the grass and came across a large mass of brush and bush, a Tangrowth emerged from the mass, eager to take on any who pass by its dwelling.

”His body has healed fine, though he has a lot of scars now, but there were a lot of small tears and holes in his wings that had to be stitched up,” Emiri continued, looking out to Kovu in the distance as the black dragon was laying out on the ground, taking in the early morning sun on his black scales. If there was one thing that he could never resist, even in a time of pain and strife, Emiri knew how much he loved sun bathing and keeping his scales nice and warm.
”It took a few weeks, almost more like two months, for all of the stitches to heal and his membrane to become whole again, but it’s been that long since he last flew, so his wings are very weak and the healed tears might still not be strong enough to keep the air under his wings,” she explained quietly, and Nimbus could tell that even this still was a touchy subject for her. He could tell already that she cared so much and so deeply for her Pokemon, that any pain that they had, she shared with them, she carried it on her shoulders with her so that they would not be alone in their suffering. It was a lot that weighed down on her, he could tell, but she was strong enough to carry it all, and that made Nimbus admire her really, that such a small human was capable of holding on to the pain and suffering of every single one of the Pokemon that she cared for.
As Flareon was walking through the fields, coming across a small circle of trees that provided a nice short break from the rising sun and his eyes, Flareon's peace was disrupted by a horrendous squawk that came from the branches above him. His ears flinched at the sound, and he looked up with a grimmace to find a Chatot glaring down at him, issuing another loud obnoxious squawk that Flareon just wasn't going to stand. He attacked, just trying to get the thing to go away in all honesty, but the bird retaliated with booming screech that made Flareon reel back at the sound pressure. Despite the ringing in his ears, he fought the bird off with another fire blast, but had to take a moment to make sure that he wasn't going to go deaf from the sound he had just endured.

”You all are like one big family, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a human treat their Pokemon like they were almost human,” Nimbus said, understanding that that was why it seemed like Emiri cared so much for them, it was as though there were no species boundaries between them, she treated them like she would treat someone like her.
”Thank you Nimbus, that means a lot. A lot of people think we’re really dysfunctional because of how much they might fight as a team, but we really all do care so much about each other, I know any one of them would do anything to make sure another one of them was safe,” Emiri replied, knowing that a few people that she had encountered over the years worried for how much her team fought among each other and how angry they seemed to be, but they just didn’t know what they went through, and that there were no boundaries between them all any more. They could have a full on battle between each other, really getting at the other as much as they could, but they would come out just fine in the end, Emiri was sure. She’d seen it before, when her team was in complete shambles and tearing apart, but here they still were, as one family.
”I don’t think so. I think you all have just experienced a lot, but being able to stay together for so long despite all of that makes it worth it it looks like,” the Raichu returned, feeling Emiri ease into a sort of calm again as she looked out to her Pokemon that she could see in the area. Flix had wandered off, she couldn't see his yellow scales through the grass and trees, but she knew that he was getting stronger every day, and would be able to take care of himself for just a little bit at a time. He was even able to fend off a powerful Infernape that issued a challenge to the young dragon.

The battle against the angry looking bear had gone much better than Flix had thought, he was able to take a small victory, but his victory wasn't quick to last as the ground beneath his feet began to shake and rumble. Flix had used his draco meteor attack, and had used a series of energy infused rocks that he picked from the ground to strike the Pangoro to issue his attack, but some of the rocks went farther than he thought. One of those rocks struck an Aggron in a small herd in the distance, and though Flix had been none the wiser on where his stray attack had gone, he looked in the direction of the rumbling and found a giant cloud of dust coming towards him. Through the dust, a series of grunts and angry roars came and Flix could see a herd of Aggron moving towards him, and fast, all five of them now ready to take down the source of the attack that had hit one of them. Flix panicked, his eyes growing wide, and only had seconds to spare as he thrust himself into the air with his wings as the Aggron barreled towards him with their horns bared. The steel types roared as their tails thrashed against the ground, looking up at the dragon that attaked them, but just because it was in the air did not mean that they were going to let it go. One by one the Aggron thrust their arms into the ground and were pulling up boulders from the dirt beneath their feet, and soon Flix was spinning and flying through the air trying to dodge the onslaught of rocks that were being thrown at him. He knew if just one of those rocks caught him, and he fell too close to the ground, they would grab him and it would be all over. They looked powerful, and just as angry, and he knew that they wouldn't stop until they were sure he was taken care of. He was afraid, and was beginning to panic, but he wanted to be able to handle a situation like this on his own, something that the other Pokemon would be able to handle no problem. He needed to fight back, he knew that was his only chance, and so as he still did his best to dodge and turn through the rocks that were being thrown at him, he tried to attack the best that he could. All of his attacks, his fire, his wings, nothing seemed to be working against their steel armor as he tried to stay up in the air, and he knew that he wasn't going to get anywhere if he stayed this far away. Flix was trying to think fast, knowing that even if he flew away, they would follow him, he had to make them leave him alone, and he only had one idea that he wasn't sure would work, but anything was worth a shot at this point. Dodging another rock, Flix turned in the air to gain a little more altitude, turning over in the air to thrust himself at the ground to gain the speed he knew he would need to get past them. The rocks were still flying, even as he leveled withe the ground, but his speed was proving effective as he swirved to miss each rock, moving towards the group of Aggron now at an incredible speed with his wings tucked in beside him. He gave one final beat of his wings against the ground, and beneath his thrust the ground began to shake and rumble as a crevice began to crack and follow him along the ground, and as he thrust himself in between the group of Aggron the ground burst beneath them as a series of rocks and boulders jetted up from the ground, knocking them all over with the power of his attack.

There was little Emiri could do to really give Kovu any reason or reassurance that there was no reason he needed to be acting like this towards Nimbus, knowing that the dragon in recent times needed to work things out for himself. She didn't want to force any interaction on him, or chide him for being a little standoffish, not wanting to make this a negative experience for him in meeting Nimbus for the first time. The Raichu stayed calm though, taking the cue from Emiri on how to act around Kovu, and he kept his eyes lowered as a sign of respect to the bigger Pokemon.
"I promise I'm not here to upset you, really, I just wanted to meet you like Emiri said," Nimbus spoke calmly and evenly like Emiri had, and he tried to keep his feelings calm as well so as to not upset him if he could sense any of his energy. Kovu's eyes were still sharp, but his body became less rigid as Nimbus spoke to him, but he still looked to Emiri though as he snuffed at the Raichu's words.
"He's a friend, and he's not going to push anything. He just wanted to come over here with us while we worked with your wings more today," Emiri returned, trying to let Kovu know that she wasn't invalidating his feelings any, and Kovu calmed ever more slightly at the sound of her voice. He still didn't feel right about having someone so unfamiliar to him around, he was still really iffy about being around his other teammates, but he trusted Emiri with everything, and had to trust her judgement on those that she might decide to let into their lives.
Flying as far away as fast as he could from the herd of Aggron that he had managed to escape, Flix found himself on the other side of where Emiri and the other Pokemon were to keep practicing, finding himself in battle with an Electivire that challenged the young dragon.

The interaction was still slightly less than pleasant since Emiri had brought Nimbus over to meet Kovu, the dragon was still a bit sensitive to his situation and Emiri could completely understand that, she just hoped that this wouldn't turn Nimbus away from meeting any of her other Pokemon. They weren't all just recently trying to recover from something so devastating, and hopefully they would welcome him, perhaps not with open arms since she knows how they can be at times, but she knew they trusted her judgement on the character of those that she considered to be a part of their lives.
"Your wings are really impressive. I can fly too, but not like you, I don't have wings like that," Nimbus tried to add quietly, and to make himself comfortable his own feet lifted from the ground as his flat tail moved under him, suspending him there in the air. He felt safer on his tail, not to say that Kovu was intimidating, but he just needed a sort of security blanket as it were for reassurance. Kovu only glanced at him at the Raichu's words, taking a look at his own wings, and his ears sulked at the mention as he still wasn't able to fly like he used to.
"Hey, hey, don't think like that," Emiri spoke gently, feeling her heart pull at the remorse in Kovu's eyes, knowing that for him she needed to do everything that she could to make sure that he could get back into the air.
"We're going to do everything that we can to make sure you can fly again, I won't give up on you," Emiri said as she came closer to the dragon, taking his large head in her hands as she stroked his smooth scales for comfort.
Flix was getting more and more confident with every battle that he faced, trying not to call on the help of his teammates unless he knew he really needed it, and he found himself in battle with a Weedle that had jumped on him from a tree, trying to use his fire to the best of his ability.

It was difficult trying to give Kovu the reassurance that they were going to do everything they could to make sure that he could fly again without giving him false hope in the event that they couldn't. Over the years, there was a lot more that Emiri knew about flying and flying type Pokemon and what it meant if their wings got damaged or were incapable of something, and she liked to think that in her opinion, Kovu's wings should be healthy enough to sustain flight again with the right exercise and practice. She spent so much time over the last few weeks watching his healing progress, speaking with Nurse Joy, making sure that everything was going as seamless as possible in his recovery, but there was still the ever so slight possibility that she could be wrong, and for that, she would never forgive herself. She wanted to do everything that she could for Kovu, but if she gave him false hope, made him think that he was going to make a full recovery and then he wouldn't be able to fly again, she was certain he would never forgive her either, and for that she couldn't blame him. One thing she was certain of though, above all else, was that even if it took months, or even years to get him back in the air, she was never going to give up on that possibility no matter how far away it was, it was the least she could do for one of her greatest friends.
Moving over the grass and keeping himself occupied, Flareon took the challenge of a small grass type that packed a big punch as the Chespin rolled itself into a ball and thrust itself at the dog with a powerful speed, but Flareon wasn't going to take that sitting down as he accepted the challenge, and essentially bringing himself another victory.

Knowing that none of this was easy for him, even if he might be one hundred percent physically healed, the emotional state was something entirely different, and often took the most time. Emiri knew from experience, knowing that it took her a long time to get in a place where she didn't feel weighed down by the things that had happened to her, or just a little less weighed down since it was hard on her to keep all of her monsters locked away. Her physical body always healed over time, her ankles weren't near as weak any more and the giant gashes on her back had turned to scars, even the gash on her upper arm where Kovu had got her just a few weeks ago was scarred over now, but the emotional pain of those events still lingered, and she was never certain that that would ever go away entirely. Same for all of her Pokemon, knowing they all bared their own physical marks of the things they had faced, the burn scars under Azuran's wings, Charizard's right wing sitting different on her shoulders, the indentation on the lower curve of Blastoise's shell, they all had their own scars and their own physical healing to do, but they still had to carry the weight of those events with them, no matter how heavy it got.
With the help of Zaron who always lingered around, Venusuar decided that he would like some time out of his Pokeball to take in some fresh air and stretch his legs, and get some sun for the flower that rested on his back. He wouldn't mind a battle or two if they happened to come his way, and it seemed that he got his wish as he was trudging over the grass, being challenged by a spritely looking Frogadier.

Sitting there patiently on the ground, Kovu waited as he watched Emiri almost intently, waiting for what it was she wanted to try next. He knew that somewhere deep inside he wanted to get back up into the air, wanted to know that he was going to be able to fly again, but he hadn't seen any progress yet, didn't have any assurance that that was a real possibility, so he still wasn't as responsive as he normally would be, despite his agreement to Emiri that he would help her help him. Emiri stood though, contemplating what it was she needed to go over next, trying to think through the most basic steps on teaching anything to fly for the first time. His membrane was healed through, whether it was strong enough yet she didn't know, but it had been so long that Kovu had really used his wings, they needed to make sure that his mobility was functional. The joints in his wings might be too weak, just like when someone breaks a leg and they don't walk on it for a while, so she needed to make sure that his wings themselves, the frame and his muscles and joints would be able to sustain him in flight again.
Out in the fields as he continued to explore and wander, Flix was challenged by a young Nidoran that was looking for a battle, and the dragon obliged as he took the rabbit's challenge.

Trying to make sure that Kovu's mobility was functional and still in tact, Emiri had him hold his wing in against his body for just a bit longer, trying to see if there would be any strain on the muscles in his shoulders, and just as she might have thought, the longer he held the position, the harder it got for him to hold his wing in. Emiri could see him straining, gritting his teeth together as he tried to hold it in, but eventually the mucles in his shoulders started to give and his wing came back towards the ground. Kovu's breathing had gotten just a little heavier, and he looked down to his wing in disappointment, his ears falling back as he snuffed and grumbled.
"That's why we're checking everythin before we try to get you up in the air," Emiri said gently, coming around to stroke his scales under his chin as Kovu sat back down on the ground.
"I know you want to see progress, but we can't just have you jumping off of trees again like you used to. We need to take this slow," she spoke again.
"Let's just check a few more things for right now, okay," Emiri tried to reason gently with a soft smile, knowing that Kovu wanted to see progress, wanted to know that everything was going to be okay, but it was going to take time, and Emiri was willing to devote everything to making that happen.
Deciding it was best to stay closer to Emiri and the other Pokemon just in case he did get into a battle that might be too tough for him, Flix was moving back towards his team when he was challenged by a young Charmeleon looking for a fight with a dragon. Flix was hardly a dragon he thought, nothing like Salamence, but he took the battle, knowing that practice was what he was out here for.
