OOC: Lucky Charm 1/7Credit had to be given where credit was due, Demeter couldn’t deny that the dragon types that Clair had trained for her challenge weren’t incredibly well trained, it was easy to see why she was the final leader in the league for the Johto region. They were tenacious and didn’t hold back, and their power would probably go unmatched for most of their challenges, against the average trainer. Through all of her tactical training, Demeter knew where her own strengths were and how to utilize them to the best of her ability, and with only four Pokemon that she felt necessary to take on the challenge, Clair’s last dragon fell to Lucero’s power and devastating ice ability that the fire type had picked up somewhere. The Typhlosion followed through with attack commands in the battle, and Demeter was pleased with this, but she knew that if she was going to go any further with the fire type, she would have to absolutely make sure that she had him broken to the fullest degree. With the victory taken, Demeter stood as Lucero drew in his fire that had effectively doused the entire field at the beginning of the battle, and the fire type took his lumbering steps back towards her as she awaited the confirmation of her victory. Despite the goody goody front she was trying to put up, remaining humble in her approach to the challenge, Demeter didn’t waver for one moment in the battle and didn’t show any sign of weakness, she was confident in her abilities as a tactician for the sake of her mission, and it proved effective as Clair returned her fallen Dragonite and was forced to look out at her challenger.
”Pryce warned me about you before you came here. You might have gotten this badge, but you didn’t win here. If you think being considered a part of the region’s best is something you can take for granted, you haven’t learned a single thing as a trainer,” Clair contested, though Demeter could argue the comment was entirely unfounded given her ‘views’ on how just being able to be a part of this challenge victory or not was all the more powerful for her and her Pokemon. She could imagine that losing to a challenger wasn’t something common for Clair to experience, and she had heard word or two that the leader was pretty high and mighty being a ‘dragon master’. No matter, Demeter wasn’t going to be phased by two gym leaders out of the league itself, she earned the respect of the others before the final two challenges, and she knew that would be all the foundation she needed to continue on with her plots.
”I’m sorry you feel that way. I like to think that my Pokemon and I work pretty well together, but you can rest assured that I am aware that I have much more training and work to do before I even consider challenging the region any further, both for myself and with my Pokemon. Hopefully we can have a battle again sometime,” Demeter said after a few moments, taking the badge that was being offered by an officiator of the battle as opposed to the leader herself. Clair paid little mind to Demeter’s words, instead taking this time to turn and leave the battlefield after the badge had been handed off. With that, Demeter was left alone within the confines of the gym, and she turned to find Loki’s guise moving beside her now, having taken his part in the battle as well.
”Challenge the region further? We’re not finished here,” the Zoroark commented as they turned to leave, Demeter returning Lucero to his Pokeball.
”Oh not by a long shot. You know I don’t do anything halfway,” Demeter returned as they left the cavernous gym to move forward. Elfana Aroway Edgy name, lovely city. Blackthorn was a huge improvement over Mahogany Town. While it was definitely not somewhere she would want to live, a short visit would be acceptable. If she remembered correctly Dragon Types were a big thing in Blackthorn City. They weren't her favorite Type but she wasn't opposed to Dragons either. Dragons reminded her of the stories her adoptive mother would read to her brother when they were younger. She, of course, would pretend that she had no interest in them but she would always listen in. A certain Pokemon that had protected them when they were small also came to mind. While he wasn't a Dragon Type, he would have looked like one when he evolved. She would have liked to see that. A faint smile graced her briefly and faded just as quickly. Those times were long gone and remembering them would do nothing for her. She pushed open the doors to the Pokemon Center, pushing any thoughts of the past from her mind as she approached the nurse and requested her booklet be stamped. She left the Pokemon Center immediately after. No amount of spending time in the Centers was going to warm her up to the idea of the nurses. Though she wasn't opposed to Blackthorn as she had been many of the other cities, she found herself rushing to get to the next town. She stopped on the outskirt of the city, giving it one final look before continuing on. Someday she would need to return to Blackthorn City. Maybe. 'Nostalgia is a bitch.' She thought to herself before that thought was pushed to the back of her mind just like the others.Johto

Emiri looked on the map as they followed a path up the mountain ledges towards Blackthorn City, and couldn’t help but smile a little at the far away memory of her first time in Blackthorn City, when she and Aku had traveled there to try and find Clair to get any information that they could to help in their fight against Lance. It was such a long time ago, she was first learning about the power that Dialga had shared with her, had met Hantu as a small Dratini in the Dragon’s den within the City, and Aku had even managed to coax out Clair in meeting with the Dragon Mages. She missed Aku… She hadn’t seen him in such a long time, but the memories she had of her friend were always pleasant for her to recall.
Nestled among the mountainous ledges and treacherous landscape, Emiri did make her way up to Blackthorn City with her Pokemon where she found the Pokemon center among the buildings. She landed with Charizard and the baby again and made her way into the center, holding out her stamp book when she was able to meet the Nurse Joy there. One more stamp down as the stamp pressed into the paper page, and only two more to go before she would be finished. That definitely taught Rhienne a thing or two about mingling with the hierarchy of things, and accepting yet another invitation. She would know better for next time, nothing good ever came out of being invited to something apparently, unless Aviabra just couldn’t help herself. It was a wonder they were able to make it back to Blackthorn City like Rhienne had intended when the Medicham decided to take them out of the ballroom in the Kalos region.
Since then, Rhienne and her Pokemon had been spending time in the quiet of the Johto Region, specifically around Blackthorn City. While Rhienne was coming to terms bit by bit with the idea and concept of her powers, the part of her life that her parents had locked away from her, and was now becoming more and more prominent each day, she also had some notion that she intended to challenge the Blackthorn City gym leader to get her eighth gym badge for the region. That had yet to come to fruition… In the guise of feigning that her Pokemon weren’t ready to take on the strongest leader in the region, not wanting to set them up for failure or the threat of getting terribly injured by the dreaded dragons that Clair was famous for… Rhienne knew herself that all of the aforementioned ideas were nonsense more or less… She just couldn’t bring herself to make the final challenge, as if the idea of taking that challenge meant that this charade of having fooled herself into another kind of goal aside from the one that was staring at her would be ruined and then she would have no choice but to truly face the weight of her heritage. While she had been training with her Pokemon, becoming stronger as it naturally happens in practice, Rhienne just hadn’t yet felt like she was ready for that final jump into nothingness.
Walking down one of the city streets with Wattson and Aviabra, Rhienne was contemplating what she’d wanted to do for the day, when Rhienne and the Lucario both stopped with twitching ears at a squeal from Aviabra behind them, ripping a flier off of a light pole and beaming at it.
”Look! Look look look! The fair is back,” the Medicham squealed again, rushing forward and shoving the flier into Rhienne’s face, bouncing already at the delight of how much fun the fair was when they’d gone the last time. Before Rhienne could even draw in a breath to make a reply, bringing down the flier so that she could actually see Aviabra, it was too late.
”Please please please please???? I never got to play any games when we were in Alola! And the rides are so much fun, come on,” Aviabra continued, barely giving any room to budge already. With her stunning lack of aspirations at the moment… It’s not like she could say they had better things to do at the moment… She only side glanced at Wattson, she could feel him heave a sigh beside her, but it was all harmless, especially since they’d been to this fair before.
”Oh alright, I guess that’s what we’re doing today,” Rhienne sighed, giving into the shrieks of joy as she reached out to Absolem in the forethought of her mind, and before too many moments more they were gone from the sidewalk of Blackthorn City. |

He nearly sent out his own Noctowl to see which would prove to be tougher, but that idea was put on a back burner when Zekrom electrocuted the owl. It fought back, using a super-effective Moonblast attack, but ekrom wasn't just some ordinary Pokemon. He absorbed that attack and fired back with twice the power in a Fusion Bolt. Noctowl began flaling towards the ground, and Julian thought it was about to die, but itsnapped to in the last moment and weakly fluttered off towards a tree below. This time, it was a Xatu. The bird, he knew, was partly a Psychic-Type Pokemon. At the very least, it would know some moves of that variety. He started thinking about who to use. Zekrom was his best bet when it boiled down to type effectiveness. Noctowl's moves would be normally effective while Zekrom's electricity was still the most powerful course of action against any Flying-Type Pokemon. Even so, the Legendary had just been in a fight. Would he be strong enough to take down a second opponent? Julian thought he would be.
He held on tight as the battle began. Zekrom wasted no time in casting a Fusion Bolt attack at the enemy, but it was already utilizing it's psychic abilities to attack from a greater distance. A few more times, Zekrom attacked but most of the bolts missed because of how far away and how much time the Xatu had to react. Finally, Julian brought Pidgeot out of it's Pokeball. He jumped mid-air to Pidgeot's back and this gave Zekrom the freedom to close the distance with surprising speed. This time, the Fusion Bolt was point-blank. It did not miss, and it sent the bird sprawling to the ground. TL;DR

Electricity still filled the air from both Legendary Pokemon when CLaire walked out to confront him and stare up at both Legendary Pokemon - one on either side of her Challenger. The three Pokemon from his team who had participated in the battles against her Gym Trainers had all been returned. He hoped that Claire hadn't been watching, or that the Trainers would not have the time to tell her what to expect. He didn't expect that to matter though. DON'T YOU CRY NO MOREJulian took his place opposite Claire feeling every bit of the pressure he'd expected he would. The first time he had come through this Gym, he'd backed out prior to ever even seeing the Gym Leader face-to-face. This time he was more determined. He'd steeled himself to follow through, no matter what the outcome was. When she faced him, she clearly had no idea that he was deaf. She was saying something, but he was too far away to read her lips and he did not have Espeon out to translate for him.
She sent out a Dragonair onto the field. Julian thought carefully about his options. He knew for a fact that he did not want to play his ace cards just yet. The Legendary Pokemon up his sleeve might be very necesssary for what lay ahead. He had to hope that his Poemon would be able to hold their own, because he would not be able to direct them in this battle and that could potentially put him at a disadvantage early on.
'Good luck, Arcanine.' He thought as he threw out the Pokeball to send the Fire-Type onto the field. His Pokemon was clearly excited to be back in the familiar arena of a Pokemon Gym. This was something he could do, this was fun! No giant Hoopa around, no Liz to have to protect (not that he minded), just him and the enemy pitting themselves against one another. Dragonair, under Claire's command, made the first move. Julian didn't know what to expect, but the enemy Pokemon shot towards Arcanine like a cannon ball.
It moved so fast, and hit so hard, that it had struck four different times before Arcanine could even gather himself for a counter-attack. This time, when Dragonair launched itself at Arcanine, his Poemon charged into an Outrage attack. They collided, trying to over-power one another. Eventually, Arcanine slipped. He stumbled, and Dragonair's Dragon Rush attack landed full force. Arcanine knew he had one chance now. Dragonair used Dragon Rush, and Arcanine brought off a beautiful Reversal which used the momentum of the enemy against it and sent Dragonair slamming to the floor.
Arcanine grew confident and put a heavy paw on Dragonair's throat. He started gathering the superheated fire of a Flamethrower around his muzzle to shoot down into the dragon's face, when a tail whipped up into his face and neck. Arcanine collapsed, and lay still. Dragonair had clearly baited him in the way he'd baited Dragonair in with the Dragon Rush. Julian sighed, but nodded. He understood their mistake. When Arcanine couldn't make it back to his feet for the count of the Referee, he returned his Pokemon and stowed the ball away so his Arcanine could have a good rest.
Julian could see how injured Dragonair was. He knew that it would only take one more good hit to take the enemy out of this battle. He sent out Chess, hoping against hope that she could figure out a way to end the threat without being flinched half a dozen times as well. She calculated her odds, then started gathering storm clouds overhead even though they were indoors. When Dragonair used Dragon Rush and flew straight for the cat, Chess dodged to the side.
Dragonair got a glancing blow off on the Persian, but at the exact same moment a lightning bolt came crashing down right on top of Dragonair. If Persian had been flinched, then it would have hit both of them because it was exactly where Persian had been less than a second before. As expected, Dragonair was in no condition to continue fighting after that. Claire returned her Pokemon, and to Jfulian's dismay sent out a second Dragonair.
What, was she going to fight him with six Dragonair? If so, he didn't know whether his team could hold up to that. And oh, Arceus, what if she had Dragonites as well? One thing was clear. She clearly trained her Pokemon hard. After everything they'd already been through, it was wild to think that it had beaten his Arcanine so easily. He snapped his fingers to get Persian's attention, and gestured to his side. Persian padded silently over to him and sat down lightly upon the floor. He sent out Typhlosion in her place.
In a stroke of genius that surprised Julian, Typhlosion took the first Dragon Rush attack to pass along an Attract attack in the process. From there, it was a process of trading Dragon Rush and Earthquake with Dragonair occasionally refusing to attack due to the infatuation it now had for the deaf Trainer's Typhlosion. The bear stood victorious over Dragonair in the end, roaring in triumph and victory. Julian smiled brightly when Typhlosion joined Persian at his side.
A Kingdra was the next opponent Julian had to contend with. He thought it might have been part Water-Type, but settled on a weakness to Fairy-Type attacks just to be safe. So he chose Noctowl. The owl was the second shiny Pokemon of Julian's to take the field. They would give off the appearance that Julian spent a lot of time and effort into his team, whether by hunting them or going through the channels of having them become shiny after capture.
Either way, by now she would realize that he trained his Pokemon well... even if she didn't respect him because he hadn't taken her dumb little challenge prior to facing her.
Kingdra was stronger than Noctowl, but was able to close that gap fairly easily by putting the enemy to sleep and spamming Moonblasts. By the time it woke up, Kingdra was too far behind to finish off Noctowl That, however, did not stop it from trying. The Kingdra used Frustration for every Moonblast it took, so that by the time it fell, Noctowl couldn't possibly have been useful in a fighting capacity against another of Claires Pokemon. This meant that both Julian and Claire were made to return their Pokemon simultaneously.
The next Pokemon - a Gyarados - was at full health, so when Julian nodded to Persian and she took the field, the advantage went immediately to Claire and her flying rage machine. It was good that Persian knew Thunder as an attack, because the x4 weakness to electricity was exactly what Persian needed to finish the battle in a quick two-shot Thunder attack. It had barely gotten the chance to fight back before falling to the much smaller cat.
Now that Julian's options were limited, he knew it was time to reveal one of his Legendary Pokemon. The enemy Dragonite was watching expectantly, waiting to see what Pokemon he would be defeating for as far as he was concerned, victory was assured. His attitude changed when he found himself face-to-face with Lugia, Guardian of the Seas. Dragonite fought bravely by using Stone Edge, a move which dealt quite a bit of damage, but Lugia sent a blast of pure electrical energy at the dragon which paralyzed it instantly.
By now Dragonite was slowed, almost crippled in a battle like this. All Lugia had to do was was mimic the first Dragonair and Dragon Rush into Dragonite from all directions at insane speed. Dragonite brought off one final desperate Stone Edge, but then immediately fell over from exhaustion.
Imagine Julian's lack of surprise when an even bigger and stronger Dragonite took the place of the first. Lugia was visibly finished with the battle, no longer seeming to care for a fight. so Julian returned him and sent out Zekrom, yet another Legendary Pokemon, onto the field to do battle. Dragonite and Zekrom clashed into one another, fighting with an intensity that Julian had rarely ever seen in a Pokemon battle. It became clear that though Dragonite was smaller, it was unbelievably well trained.
The flashing claws and teeth of both dragons landed deadly blows, and yet the fight raged on despite the ferocity of their attacks. Zekrom collected an edge when Dragonite was put to sleep, owing to the hold item Julian had associated him with. Zekrom made the most of this opportunity with multiple pillars of Stone Edge erupting all around him so that by the time Dragonite woke and tried to counter-attack, the arena was almost unrecognizable from what it had been.
A final Stone Edge spelled defeat for Dragonite, and Claire's team as a whole. He did not return Zekrom, instead choosing to let him remain on the field so that CLaire could admire him up close. Zekrom deserved to be admired for his strength, and Julian was sure that a Dragon-Type Gym Leader would be the perfect person to comprehend how special he was. Now that he was close enough to Claire to read lips, he smiled and began to sign to her. He doubted she knew any sign language, but this would at the very least inform her that everything she'd said to this point had fallen surely on deaf ears.

Clair had been defeated. That never was a good day for her, however she had no outburst. She returned her fainted Pokemon, and began to walk across the destroyed battle field. She wasn't surprised at the damage her Gym had taken in the battle, She expected it. Especially since he had defeated her Pokemon, he better have torn up the field as he did. It took her a moment to make her way across the rocky carnage, having to scale one of the crooked pillars to get through to Julian, which she did with ease. She walked up to him, clearly not intimidated by Zekrom. Actually it was quite the opposite. She was intrigued by the Legendary. If her Pokemon had been defeated, at least it was of the adversary that was a legendary. Two in fact, having to face off against Lugia. She was aware of the teen's previous Challenge of the Gym, but she didn't look into much more then that, so she was unaware if he had the legendary then or not. Nor was she aware that Julian was deaf. At least not at first, but it wasn't hard to figure out with how he ignored her, and commanded his Pokemon. It was fairly easy for her to figure out halfway through the battle. However she was not born yesterday. The young male seemed to have made no motion for his team, so there had to be communication. Communication he was willingly excluding from her. Regardless, her focus was on Zekrom. "You make quite the opponent in battle. One would expect as such, I'm proud to have battled you." She spoke to the Legendary. However, as she did so, her eyes never left the legendary's. She gave Julian the same respect he gave her, and refused to pull her eyes away from Zekrom as he attempted to sign to her, but she held her eyes where they were. Only after he was done, and a few more moments of taking in Zekrom's presence did she turn to Julian. Not that it would have done too much good. As a public figure, she may have known a bit of sign language, but not near enough to hold or understand a conversation. She pulled out her badge, but withheld it until she was sure he was watching her lips. When she spoke she made sure she was heard. "There's something to be said for what you have done." She spoke, Her voice just as serious as her expressions. "I do not consider this a win for you. However, at your young age; you have defeated my Pokemon, earning you your eighth and final badge in Johto. But also training two Legendaries. " She explained to Julian. This was about as close to a compliment anyone would get from her. "That being said, you have so much more work to do if you expect to challenge the Elite Four. " She warned him. She would be livid if she defeated her Pokemon but then lost against the Elite Four. She finally held out her badge for him to collect.

Now that he had the entire set, he wasn't sure what was next. He didn't want to go see Liz and Marcellus again so soon after partying ways with them. After all, they needed a bit of time to discover how they'd miss him. All of his Pokemon were returned to their Pokeballs, and Julian climbed into the bed of a room he'd rented. From there, he slept the next twelve hours away so that by the time he woke, the sun was beginning to rise. He stretched, smiling as his eyes fell upon Claire's Badge laying on the bedside table. It had been hard fought, and well earned.
His Pokemon had fought so bravely and he was very proud of them, but there was still more work to be put in. He venture ddown for some breakfast, and handed the Nurse a note telling her that he was looking for the best place that he could train in preparation for the Elite Four. She gave him a look that, he thought, might have been worry or even fear. Eventually she relented and told him about the most dangerous place a Trainer could go in search of new challenges and the strongest wild Pokemon. She warned him how dangerous it would be. She packed him plenty of food and made sure he was prepared for the threatening place that some Trainers had not even made it back from. BACKPACK

He really was out there actually performing for recordings of his music? She wasn’t as musically inclined as some might think, sure she had her violin that she was pretty good at, but modern type music just wasn’t something that had been around her house on the regular… The spirits that her mother tended to and had roaming around the house usually liked things to be pretty neutral and mellow. Then he talked about his reporting work with the PNN, she had definitely heard of Carrie before, Carrie Sunita if she remembered correctly? She broke the news about the blackouts in Johto, and worked with the Cerulean City Police department when Bill needed trainers to come to Kanto those years ago…
”Crazy stories? So you’re like doing field work right now for this stuff,” Rhienne questioned, and she almost wished that she could say he shouldn’t want to put himself out there like that, there were things out there that were happening or had happened that she wouldn’t wish upon anyone. He commented though that he did just recently get some footage for something that he felt he shouldn’t talk about publicly, her curiosity got the best of her though, despite her better judgement.
”Was it about what happened in Hau’Oli city in Alola a little while back,” she asked, it was an entire festival full of people, surely there were a lot of people that caught the first wind of things that had transpired in the Alola Region, but not much afterwards if they didn’t come along with the Aether Foundation and their head hunt.
All in all, Rhienne was enjoying her conversation with Apollo, he was a natural conversationalist, where she typically fell short, and seemed to be just an all around genuine person, even being able to take compliments graciously. She didn’t even feel like she had to scorn or bite back when he’d joked that she was only eleven, it was light hearted enough and he was right to say that she still had a lot of time to figure things out, she just wished she actually felt like it. Being given back over ten years of her partial memory that had been locked away from her felt like she didn’t have a lot of time to catch up with where she would have been in her life.
”Yeah, I guess that Clair, I don’t know another one? I wish I had your level of enthusiasm about it…” Rhienne replied, she just couldn’t bring herself to feel proud of getting to that point, she wasn’t even sure why she was doing it other than it was something that she started, so why shouldn’t she finish it? Apollo had to run and grab his Pokemon, it sounded like it was about time to leave, while Aviabra and Wattson came back towards her.
”So that’s it then, we’re just going to go challenge this gym, and then what,” Wattson inquired, he didn’t sound angry, but he didn’t sound pleased, about as please as Rhienne sounded about the idea.
”How about we have this fight after we do something mildly productive for the first time in months? At least this will be some kind of accomplishment, what else do I have to show for all the time I’ve wasted out here,” Rhienne shot back, digging ever deeper into the hole of her lack of self identity and what she really wanted to do with her life.
”You… You don’t really think that spending time together and getting to do fun things like this is a waste of time…” Aviabra questioned, the senselessness of Rhienne’s words biting at her, and she looked up at Rhienne almost in shock that she would say such a thing. She knew that Rhienne was having a tough time with things right now, she did, it was like her own battles that she fought between her physical self and the psychic capabilities that should be innate to her, but she just didn’t have the capacity to really accept that part of herself or practice with it… But to think that Rhienne felt that she had wasted all of this time traveling and growing, regardless of her powers… She couldn’t really feel like that?
”No, Aviabra I don’t… That’s not- I didn’t mean it to sound that way…,” Rhienne sighed, Wattson just made her so upset at herself sometimes with the way they’d been at odds lately, but she couldn’t blame this on the Lucario.
”I’ve just got a lot of stuff to think about lately, and it just doesn’t feel like I’ve done a good job figuring out what to do with this new part of my life. I’m sorry,” Rhienne managed, just before she caught sight of Apollo coming back with a Teddiursa in his arms. She put on a fresh face, and Wattson’s glare turned the other way, but Aviabra was a little disheartened still at the intensity of Rhienne’s emotions.
”I don’t know what you might have had plans to do right now, but it sounds like the fair might be getting ready to pack up here soon. You can come to Blackthorn City with us, maybe get a different perspective on challenging a gym for your reporting for trainer life if that's something would be helpful,” Rhienne offered, she still didn’t sound particularly excited or interested in her own idea, but it was an idea and a plan of action at the very least. She was probably as ready as she would never be, getting this over with to start fresh on some things might be what she needs to do to clear out some of her cluttered thoughts. Given Apollo’s answer, if he wanted to come along, she returned Aviabra and Wattson to their pokeballs for the time being as she felt Absolem come to the forefront of her thoughts.
”If you’re okay with teleporting, don’t think too hard and leave your thoughts open for a second,” Rhienne mentioned, and before a second more, they were in the city center of Blackthorn in the crisp mountain air, away from the sounds of the fair and crowds and surrounded by the quiet city.

Apollo had explained his experience to her and what his job was. He didn't exactly want to go into the full details, even though it was months ago, he still felt like what happened to Anthony was too fresh to think about. She mentioned about him doing field work, which he gave an over dramatized nod to her. "Yup. Exactly. I'm doing some of the foot and ground work since there's only one of Carrie. Despite her multiple tries of being in 2 or 3 places at once." Apollo replied, rolling his eyes at the comment of Carrie trying to be in more places then one. If she had it her way that woman would be everywhere. Apollo did have sneaking suspicion she had some form a Pokémon being the eyes and ears for her, but never was able to ask or prove it. She then lead onto asking if it was what happened in Alola. Apollo frowned his brows and ed his head. "No, it was some tower off in some dimension- long story. " He replied absent mindedly commenting on it but then waving it off quickly. It sounded crazy even if he did want to talk about it. He wouldn't know where to begin on explaining what had happened. He changed the subject, hoping to make her forget his previous statement. "Why? What happened in Alola?" Apollo asked her. He had been a little detached from his job lately so if something did happen he missed it entirely.
The conversation had shifted back to Rhienne, she didn't take the compliment all that well. Seeming more indifferent than anything. Apollo didn't quite understand that. This was going to be her 8th badge, she should be excited she was reaching this feat."You're too modest. Most trainers can't make it half way to the 8th badge. Aviabra and Grumpy Pants are going to kick ass." He replied to her, granted he hadn't even seen her battle or full team so he his confidence could be completely misguided. But he was never one to not pep someone up. There after she offered to let him come with her to Johto. He twisted his mouth to the side in thought as he looked to his fluffy cub who hadn't stopped talking, then back to her. It bothered him a little bit to leave the region he lost Kira in, but it had been months... He couldn't dwell on it forever. "Sure, maybe it'll be a fun fresh adventure!" He agreed. Teddy meanwhile had been blabbering about how they had been ignored by large Pokemon, and how wrong squirtle was, and how he was going to get bigger and stronger to stop those other pokemon from ignoring him again. Apollo was ready to make his way towards the train station when she mentioned teleporting. Apollo stopped and looked back at her. "Oh. Sure, that would be so easy and convenient!" He added excitedly, that would cut out all the travel and just make the arrival so easy. No pesky nights sleeping in an uncomfortable bed. However, why would he need a calm mind? He was called alot of things but calm wasn't one of them. How does one open a mind? If he doesn't would he end up somewhere else? Or just half of him? "Wait, wait, wait. What if I can't stop thinking?" He asked her as she returned her Pokemon, which he hadn't done... Would they all end up in the same place? "I don't know how to do this, what if I can't calm my mind-" He voiced his concerns to Rhienne, worry clear in his voice. However... He felt a new breeze and buzz of all the combined voices of the fair were silent. Before he had gotten half way through that sentence they had already been teleported. Teddy never stopped talking, and clearly hadn't noticed a change yet. Squirtle and Pikachu noticed as well, both of which jumped at the sudden change in their surroundings. They weren't sick or scared, but just startled at the sudden change. Apollo had to take a moment to realized he had already been teleported a great distance in the blink of an eye. Elemental Paradisity White Prince Of WonderlandAdmin Carl and ShamCarl and Sham had been strategizing all day. They knew they had a plan to execute, but they didn't seem to agree on how they needed to go about accomplishing them. Sham wanted it one way, while Carl wanted it another. They both needed a solid plan they both agreed on before they could head back to base, and they had still yet to agree. They had set up a temporary camp on the out skirts of town, it was a nice day so they agreed it might help clear their heads, but they also wanted to steer clear of ever running into Clair. Just as they were just about to call it quits, in the blink of an eye two trainers appeared. Literally. Carl couldn't help but visibly flinch at the sudden appearance of the two, however Sham seemed to grin. "Now I think I know what will really clear our heads." She commented grinning behind her half sided mask. She stood up and crossed her arms. "Why don't we knock around Goth Barbie and Ken over here." She commented eying over Rhienne and Apollo as if they were her prey. While Carl quickly recovered from his shock let out a laugh at her joke. "Now that I can agree on." Rhienne didn’t flinch at his answer before he’d gone off to retrieve his Pokemon, but she almost wanted to say something. There was no disputing it, there was only one dimension that she knew of that would whisk away even the most low profile type trainers, and to think that Darkrai had forced his challenge upon someone so… Normal? Someone that was out there in the world to purely have a good time with no influence otherwise… How did he make it out? Rhienne actually had to wonder, was Darkrai even capable of resign, or maybe even pity? She was actually almost angry, not only was Darkrai an abuse of power with what he’d built, Nara had made that clear when they were stolen away from their plane, but for Darkrai to really be going out of his way to steal away innocents like that, it was like a bully picking on children…
They’d made it to Blackthorn city within seconds of Rhienne asking Apollo to keep his mind open for only a quick moment, and she almost gave a small smile at his wonderment. Teleportation was so normal for her, even before she’d started training her own psychic type Pokemon, her mother had plenty of them around the house that would amuse her interest in their powers when she was younger.
”I’ll tell you what happened in Alola, after challenging Clair? And maybe one day soon you can tell me about that dimension,” Rhienne mentioned when they’d settled in the streets of Blackthorn. She wasn’t going to pry, she didn’t want to talk about it much either, and she felt Absolem’s almost scornful energy at just the mere mention of it, but she wasn’t just going to sit by and let something like that go unsaid. If Apollo had survived Darkrai’s realm, he should know that he wasn’t alone, and in a way she almost felt responsible? She wanted to be able to do more about the balance of supernatural Pokemon and their relationship to the physical plane, just like her mother always spoke about, and Darkrai was definitely up there with things that she wished she had been better equipped and prepared for. And if it turned out that it wasn’t Darkrai, and Apollo was talking about something entirely different, yet still oddly specific and particular, then she won’t have said anything to implicate herself as involved with supernatural activity that could be viewed as dangerous and necessary to extinguish.
”Or maybe your Teddiursa can do all the talking for you… Is it normally this talkative,” Rhienne commented then, a small joke since there was a bit of a smile on her face. She didn’t particularly get along with “baby” Pokemon, or younger Pokemon that were just hatched or of younger age, Aviabra as a Meditite was probably the youngest she had dealt with regularly, and she was still a psychic type then so it was a bit easier. The Teddiursa though hadn’t stopped talking, not since Apollo had brought him back from the Pokemon section at the fair, but Absolem also hadn’t opened his telepathy to the Teddiursa either, likely for the same reason, since all she could hear was just it’s typical huffs, snuffs, and growls.
Getting ready to start moving through the quiet city, having still only just arrived moments ago, Rhienne felt a shift in Absolem’s presence around her, and the fur on her ears and tail stood on end. She turned to find two figures approaching her and Apollo, her amethyst eyes now sharp behind her glasses. They were dressed very similarly, a uniform of sorts, and for some reason were wearing masks that covered half of their faces each… And she could swear that something about them was incredibly familiar…
”So which one of you has something that can teleport? Must be pretty powerful, huh,” the woman spoke as she eyed both Rhienne and Apollo.
”She’s the one that mentioned Clair. I bet she has the more powerful Pokemon,” the man spoke then, stepping forward with intent.
”Is this the part where you expect us to say we don’t want any trouble and we’ll just hand over our Pokemon,” Rhienne leered, the amethyst ring on her finger sparking lightly, she could just feel that she was supposed to have animosity towards these people, but couldn’t quite place it…
”We’ve encountered them before… In the Lake of Rage,” Absolem spoke for Rhienne to hear, and her mind raced as she started to remember, during the last Missingno incident, the Lake of Rage had been taken over by Team Neo Rocket… And they were there…
”You can keep the stuffed animal. But we’ll take anything else you’ve got,” the woman replied, all too happy at the idea of compliance as she moved towards Apollo.
”I didn’t know there would be a prelude to entering the gym. How sad to think that this is the greatest challenge to offer,” Cheshire’s voice spoke then as he appeared beside Rhienne, eager to take this opportunity. He’d been reduced to a Gastly back then, and these insolent humans were involved, and while that was years ago now at this point, that didn’t mean that the ghost didn’t hold a grudge. The man seemed to stammer at the ghost’s words, already seeming to be the more fumbly of the two, having already been holding a Pokeball as if to start something, but hadn’t found the initiative to do so.
”Just a Haunter? Maybe they don’t have such great Pokemon after all,” he sneered, releasing a Magmar out in front of him.
”Don’t worry about these guys Apollo. They’re all talk,” Rhienne ensured as Cheshire disappeared, already quicker in reaction than the Magmar as he doused the fire type in potent toxins that fizzled and smoked purple against the fire type’s hot skin.Cheshire | Lv. 64 | HP 520 | Ability: Levitate | Holding: Shadow Plate | Pokeball: Intro Ball

Rhienne offered to tell him all about Alola after she battled Claire. That was a good deal to him! He was definitely going to get footage of Rhienne's battle, battling Claire win or lose definitely adds creditability to a person. He hadn't known her long, but he was gathering she might give Claire a run for her money. However, it turned back to the dimension which faltered his smile just a moment. But he recovered quickly and beamed back with a nod. She then offered to let Teddy tell her with how talkative he is. He couldn't help but laugh, and look down to teddy in his arms who had yet to stop talking as if they both could understand him. "Yeah, he sure loves to talk. He, no doubt, is giving us a full-on step by step recap on the Pokemon Park." Apollo explained, knowing the little cub all too well. Apollo was not near as observant as Rhienne. He hadn't noticed the two figures until they started talking.
It wasn't hard for Apollo to figure out these two weren't up to any good. Apollo didn't recognize the half of the faces he could see, but it was clear they were Team Neo Rocket. They began to waffle about blowing off steam. Apollo was not offended by being called a Ken. They seemed to focus in on Rhienne rather than himself. Apollo wasn't exactly upset by this, granted he wouldn't leave her hanging if it came down to it, but he didn't want to bite off more than he could chew. The lady commented on taking everything he had but his stuffed animal. "You would be lucky to have this stuffed animal!" Apollo snapped back. Teddy had finally ended his story, but was now fully on board with whatever Apollo was talking about. Giving his own two cents about stuffed animals. Apollo flinched away from Cheshire as he appeared, causing Teddy to wiggle so he could bury his face in Apollo's chest. Teddy remembered all too well when Kira's Haunter jumped out and scared him just hours after Darkrai's tower. The male negged their pokemon as he let out a Magmar. This began to make him a little nervous. Rhienne tried to wave it off that they were all talk, but magmar weren't exactly easy to beat.
Rhienne began to square off with the magmar, while he was tasked with the redhead. She let out a Persian, as he let out Squirtle. "awww, how cute. Listen, I feel bad fighting a new trainer. Make it easy on yourself and just hand over the Pokemon." She teased with a confident grin. "We are cute, but we aren't new, bitch." he argued back. Apollo wasn't upset at being called cute, but Squirtle was. Apollo called for an attack, but he was very quickly struck back by a bolt of lightning. Apollo couldn't help the sharp intake of breath as he watched Squirtle be struck. Despite his best, he couldn't last longer than an attack on his part. Okay, if lightning was her game, he knew how to fight that. He let out Wooper. The Persian tackled the wooping wooper, even with a torrent of water, the wooper went down. Next was chansey. She was a tough one. She withstood better than her two team mates. The Persian tried to keep her at bay with lightning, but chansey rushed the large cat slamming her head into it and knocking it back. After one more bolt of lightning, and head butt from her, the persian slammed its tail into Chansey and sent her rolling back towards Apollo. Dratini did not last long at all. But with all their combined efforts, Pikachu was able to best the Persian with speed alone. It was able to attack him, but he got up close quick and once on the Persian he was able to quickly strike it until it was finally tired out. Pikachu returned to Apollo but was clearly weakened. The Magmar could get in a hit, but not a heavy one before Cheshire managed to disappear again, and before too long with his added hexes, it was clear that the fire type just wasn’t going to make it against the ghost’s power. Rhienne glanced through her glasses to make sure that Apollo was fending well against the red headed woman that had approached them too, but she heard one too many Pokeballs opening and closing, before the Persian finally started to show weakness…
”Magmar, get in there! This was just supposed to be a warm up,” the man growled, but while the fire type tried to go in for one more attack, Cheshire’s hexes were too great and the Magmar just couldn’t keep going as it fell to the ground, purple smoke still rising from its skin at the toxins seeping into its body.
”Right, right, I’m sure you thought the same thing last time,” Rhienne sneered, already tired of this. Her comment threw him off, but only for a moment before he gritted his teeth and returned the Magmar.
”There was no last time, and there’s not going to be a next time for you either,” he said with what authority he could muster, releasing a hefty Piloswine onto the field. While Rhienne didn’t have any particularly heavy set Pokemon that could match the sheer force of a Piloswine, Cheshire came back to Rhienne’s side as she released Wattson. Despite their animosity towards each other in the recent months, the one constant remained that their Auras were forever linked together, and she felt him as he came out to face the Piloswine with her. The moment was quick to pass, but Rhienne knew Wattson felt her there too as he looked to square off against the Piloswine.
”Oh, okay, now we’re talking. That mega would be a great steal,” the man mentioned, cheering up at the sight of Wattson.
”Just you try,” the Lucario growled, lunging forward with outmatched speed against the Piloswine, striking hard and striking fast with a steel coated tail.
Remaining next to Rhienne, Cheshire glanced beside him to the male that they found themselves in battle with.
”What’s this one’s name,” he asked aloud, his tone casual now despite the battle they were facing, but laced with condescension as he sort of looked Apollo up and down. He looked from the Teddiursa that seemed to be stuck to his shirt by now, down to the Pikachu that wavered at his feet, and he had to wonder, what was Rhienne doing with this human?
”Do you need help? That was just one Pokemon, she has plenty more,” Cheshire questioned, almost sincerely enough, he wasn’t cynical enough to let someone up and steal Pokemon if given the right window of opportunity, but surely this human couldn’t possibly have thought it a good idea to square up for battle?

The evil team leader smirked as she returned her Persian. "Wow, you actually got one. Gold star." Sham spoke with a grin. Apollo grit his teeth, he knew he was in hot water. He glanced to Rhienne, and she seemed to be holding her own, so he was hoping she would be able to assist him. "Okay bitch, you're not that great" Apollo snapped back. He was about to get throttled, but he couldn't let her get away with something that snide. She just chuckled and let out her next Persian. Great, the first one tore him apart, and now she had another. "Oh? You don't think so? Let me prove myself then." She spoke in a overtly sweet tone. She gestured for her Persian to attack, and boy did he. The Persian bounded across the area, and chased Pikachu down. He tried to move, and normally he would be fast enough, but he was already to beaten down. The feline pounced on him, and rolled forward, and mid roll let him go, flinging the Pikachu in Apollo's direction. Apollo let out a loud yelp as he was hit square in the chest by his own Pokemon and knocked clear off his feet. He landed with a grunt on his back and scrambled to try and get himself back together. But Sham and her Persian walked forward casually. "You're in the big league twinkle toes. Maybe we should teach you a lesson." She spoke, as she inspected her nails. Apollo looked down and knew Pikachu was unconscious. He knew his other Pokemon could not survive this battle. He looked over as he began to scramble backwards on the advancing predators."Rhienne!" He shouted calling out for her help. He was stubborn and never wanted to have to ask for help but he was in big trouble and he needed help. """" { Apollo Vs. Sham (click)}

The ice type was returned, and when a Magcargo came out onto the field, at the forefront of Rhienne’s mind Absolem came into play, knowing at least that Wattson needed to steer clear of the fire type.
”You’re just trying to make things difficult! Why don’t you give in like your friend, make things easier for everyone,” Carl chided, watching as his partner’s Persian chased the Pikachu just like a piece of prey it found to eat, and it probably would if given the chance, if it could get a hold of the Pikachu again. Rhienne found Apollo on the ground, scrambling away from the Persian, and Absolem was already squaring off with the Magcargo, and it seemed that now that it looked like they were down and out, the two Neo Rockets were going to make more offensive moves.
”Absolem, take care of the Magcargo,” Rhienne called, and Absolem did make quick work of the fire type while Wattson and Cheshire hung back, and they found themselves facing more Persian and a Slowking from the woman on the other side.
”Oh please! You’re outnumbered, what are you going to do, your Pokemon are already weak from battling,” the woman called, eyeing Rhienne and Apollo both while Carl let out a Houndoom to continue the fight. Rhienne knew that Wattson and Cheshire had some fight left, and they were matched against opponents that couldn’t even hold up. But if she was really going to make them pay and make them regret crossing her path again, she needed to make them remember who she was.
”You should do better about recalling your past opponents. You’ve crossed me before. You shouldn’t have done it a second time,” Rhienne spoke evenly, her eyes sharp behind her glasses as sparkling red electricity started to rise around her. From one of her Pokeballs, Nara emerged with a fierce roar, her red eyes sharp and focused on the two miscreants. The two Neo Rockets stammered for a moment, faced with the Raikou across from them, and Sham was the first to speak up.
”You! You were one of the trainers at the lake of rage,” she seethed, knowing then that Rhienne had been a part of the group that thwarted them and caused everything to fall apart from there.
”Good, you do remember. Now this will end the same way,” Rhienne returned, and her three Pokemon moved forward while Absolem remained to keep Rhienne and Apollo out of harm's way. Wattson grappled with the Persian that had then lunged towards them, catching the cat’s paws in his and throwing it to the ground, while Cheshire honed in on the Slowking. A ghostly energy surrounded the psychic type, and for a moment it seemed that the Slowking had begun to fade, and that made Cheshire’s attacks all the more potent. Nara’s fierce power was unmatched as the Houndoom lunged at her, and with each powerful swipe of her large paws, the couple of hounds that Carl had fell one by one.
Cheshire’s shadow ball seared straight through the Jynx that Sham had released, and Wattson wrestled the Kangaskhan to the ground, and Nara swiped and fell the last Houndoom to the ground, the last remnants of their Pokemon splayed out in defeat. Nara, Wattson, Absolem, and Cheshire looked out to the two, standing on either side of Rhienne and Apollo now as Rhienne squared herself to face the two Neo Rockets. They were petty, she could see the gears working in their heads on how they could turn the situation around despite their defeat.
”If I were you,” Rhienne started, raising her right hand with her amethyst ring, and the gem began to glow with purple electricity shrouding her hand, audibly crackling and popping.
”Take your loss. You shouldn’t dabble with powers you don’t understand,” she leered, issuing her threat clearly.
”You’re still the same freak! You and all of your Pokemon,” Carl shouted, the same moniker they had thrown at her at the lake of rage… At that, Nara roared, daring them to say another word as her mane sparked with furious red tendrils of electricity, and the two of them gathered their Pokemon and got out of the situation before things escalated further.
All said and done, the most important thing after the fact was getting Apollo’s Pokemon to the Pokemon Center so that they could be cared for after being ambushed by an entirely unfair fight. It was easy to write off her ring and “powers” and what not with Cheshire stepping in for a little fakeout, especially since she remembered clear as day the way they’d reacted to her and her magic mistake back then at the lake of rage… They’d called her a freak then, and called her a freak now, it was easy to lean into that. Wattson stopped himself from chiding Rhienne for using her powers in such a force, he didn’t want to say anything that would indicate it was anything other than a trick, but he was disappointed that Rhienne would even consider using her powers in such a way. Cheshire though was all for it, Neo Rocket was involved with his reduction to a Gastly, and they should pay each time they caused any kind of treachery. What wasn’t easy to write off though was Nara being with her, a Raikou that was known to be a ‘legendary Pokemon’. While Rhienne always recognized and respected Nara’s great power and what her place in the world was, she didn’t treat Nara as some figmented figure that was almighty and couldn’t be bothered with the real world, and Nara liked it that way. She was here to travel beside Rhienne and work with her in tandem, and that did mean being involved with battles and making sure that humans who would do harm like she had been exposed to would see their match. Rhienne didn’t talk too much about the lake of rage, or when, that missingno incident was not one that she was keen to revisit, but again she felt though that one day when they sat down to talk more and Apollo might tell her about that dimension, she would tell him about some of the things that she had experienced thus far.
Spending some time at the Pokemon center to make sure that all of Apollo’s Pokemon were tended to properly, Rhienne had Aviabra out with her while they hung around and cooled down, and as was her recent fascination, Aviabra played around on Rhienne’s Pokedex to pass some time. Apollo’s Pokemon were all well after a little while, given more time to rest still after the fact, and it seemed then that Rhienne would be free again to start making her way towards Clair’s gym… And yet she still didn’t feel like she wanted to. Even if it would be an accomplishment, did she deserve the accomplishment at all with how little she cared for it? Trainers spent years of their lives honing themselves and their Pokemon in order to perfect their battle strategies, why should she get to take a go at the gym without really given any effort towards it, without doing anything about the gym badges the right way? They were just something to do, something she felt like she had to do since she had started traveling without any other real purpose, with or without them she felt the same way… Lost and out of touch.
A little while later, Aviabra sat up at a notification that came up on Rhienne’s pokedex, an invitation to something called Discovery Island! Wattson and Rhienne both had their reservations, after receiving an invitation to a ball where they got accused of murder, and attending the festival in Hau’Oli city lead to an interdimensional alien attack… Ever the enthusiast that she was though, Aviabra was quick to look up more information with the Pokedex and found a news report from the PNN that this Discovery island was supposed to be some special exclusive island that was being worked on, and that they were going to start with soft opening. And that’s what the invitation said too, that Rhienne had been randomly selected! Wattson was hesitant, but if Rhienne were being honest within herself, this was something that could get her away from challenging the last gym just for that much longer…
Promising with Apollo that she would be back around after a bit to see what this Discovery Island was about, and to Wattson’s dismay ignoring him almost entirely, Rhienne started to make preparations for this impromptu trip. The invitation did say that she could only have three Pokemon with her, which was a little odd and a bit daunting, but knowing surely that Absolem and Cheshire would always be there in her thoughts if she truly needed something, there couldn’t be any harm in following the rules? Nara was a given then if that were the case, just in case, and Aviabra was in since she wanted to go so gosh darn bad, and Wattson was coming along, whether he actually wanted to or not, to keep an eye on things.
