Skylar gave Bugsy a firm handshake and with a nod of his head, he thanked him for the battle. "That is already part of the plan, gonna try and get her to focus more on the battles and less on trying to be affectionate during the battles. As for that rematch, you can bet I'll be coming back for it." Giving a thumbs up, Skylar then left the Gym and headed back to the Pokemon Center to heal up his Pokemon. Also making a roster switch up. He also had the time to check up on the Pokemon he had rescued, Galliga. After recovering thanks to the Pokemon Center, She made her choice to follow him on his journey. Thus after Galliga got captured, Skylar made final preparations to head out to his next destination.

By the time Lirio and company had made it out of Union Cave, it was already quite dark. Lirio decided to immediately call his parents with his Pokegear to make sure they were awake before they arrived. The phone rang for a while but was eventually answered. “Hello, who is this?” A somewhat sleepy woman’s voice answered. “Uh, mom? It is me, Lirio!” “Oh! Sorry, I must have dozed off earlier. I heard the phone ring and wondered who would be calling at this time. Is something wrong?” “No, I was just checking to see if you were awake. I was planning to stay with you and dad while I am in town. Also, I have a couple of friends traveling with me if it would be okay for them to stay with us too.” “Oh, OH! You are in town already?! You should have told me you were coming and with guests! I would have tidied up the place a bit.” There was another voice in the background for a moment, “Who is that on the phone?” “One moment, dear,” Lirio’s mom said before responding to this other voice which Lirio assumed was his dad, “It is just Lirio. He said he is in town already and bringing over some guests!” “Already, he should have said something sooner!” “That is what I told him! Now, where were we, Lirio. Ah, yes, well, of course, our home is open to friends of yours. I had always hoped you’d make more friends when you were younger, but I guess better late than never!” “Mom! We’ll be there soon. We are just getting out of Union Cave, okay?” “Of course. We’ll see you soon. Get home safely!” Lirio’s mom replied before hanging up the phone.

Lirio, Monk Konoha, Amber, and their Pokemon arrived at Lirio’s house shortly after the phone call. The town wasn’t too big, so they were able to reach it quickly. When Lirio knocked on the door, it opened immediately as if his mother was standing right there, which, turns out she was. “Welcome home, Lirio!” She greeted him with a firm embrace. “You’re squishing me, mom!” Lirio protested. Although he wouldn’t admit it to the others, Lirio quite enjoyed the hug. “Oh, sorry! It just feels like forever since I’ve seen you. Are these your friends? It is nice to me- OH! Monk Konoha! Lirio didn’t mention that you were one of his friends coming to visit. I feel our house is a mess right now, so, sorry about that.” “It is no problem of course, Ms. Mushikaze. I probably should have let you know myself that intended to visit, so the fault it mine. I am sure your house is as clean as ever though,” Monk Konoha replied meekly. “Hi! I am Amber! It is nice to meet you. I am Lirio’s other friend.” “Oh, a lady friend, I see. You didn’t mention her either, Lirio,” Lily Mushikaze, Lirio’s mother, said nudging Lirio’s side. Amber blushed and was about to protest when Lirio did so instead, “She is just a friend, mom!” “Just a friend, sure. We can talk about this more later though. I am sure you all are tired and want to rest. I can show you all to your rooms. We have several guest rooms you all can choose to stay in. Did you want your usual room, Monk Konoha?” “If it is no bother, yes, Miss Mushikaze.” “In that case, I’ll let you lead yourself to your room while I help Amber choose her room. Lirio, you can go rest up in your room too already. I can meet all your new Pokemon in the morning and hear about your journey. Your dad was supposed to stay awake to greet you all, but he fell asleep. This week was a bit busier than normal for him, but I shall tell him to cancel all work tomorrow!” Lirio nodded and waved bye to Amber who waved back with a smile. He went to his room which was down a different hallway than either of the ones Monk Konoha or Amber and his mom took. Once he arrived in his room, he plopped himself down on his bedand returned Ignis to his Pokeball. Before not too long, he fell asleep comfortably wrapped in his blankets.

To Lirio’s surprise, he woke up about an hour after sunrise. He realized he must have been exhausted from the travels of the previous day without even noticing last night. He stepped out of his room and surveyed the house to see who else was awake. Unsurprisingly, both of his parents were awake at the dining table drinking their morning tea. “Good morning, Lirio,” They both said. “Good morning. I woke up late, sorry…” “Oh, no worries. We expected you all to sleep in after traveling from Violet City. Also, I should be the one saying sorry for falling asleep before you all arrived last night…” Lirio’s dad, Eden Mushikaze, said. “Come, have a seat! I can start on breakfast and we can talk about that Amber friend of yours. She is quite fun based on our conversation last night. She told me how deeply in love you two are and how many children you hope to have in the future!” Lirio turned bright red and was left speechless, with his jaw wide open. Eden raised an eyebrow at Lirio since he hadn’t even met this Amber person yet. “I am just kidding. She is quite nice, though,” Both Eden and Lirio let out a sigh of relief, “I wouldn’t mind if you two did like each other. She told me a bit about herself like how she works at a pastry shop in Violet City and how you two met there. She also mentioned that you were the one that convinced her to take a vacation and that this was the vacation. She seems to think quite highly of you, Liri.” “She is a rather pleasant person, hence why I didn’t mind that she wanted to join me for at least part of my journey.” “The two seem to have rather nice chemistry too. I see where you are coming from, Miss Mushikaze,” Monk Konoha said, appearing from behind one of the walls of the dining area. Lirio blushed again. “Ah, Monk Konoha. You know you can just call me Lily, right? We have known each other long enough that you need not be so formal with us anymore. Please, come sit with us,” Lily said as she gestured to a chair at the table, “Oh, also, Lirio, we have some things we wanted to give you. Why don’t you go get ready for your day while I cook breakfast and prepare to give you your gifts?” “Yes, of course. I was so tired last night that I slept in my clothes that I got here in,” Lirio said, suddenly realizing he probably didn’t smell or look all that pleasant at that moment.

Lirio had showered and gotten ready for the day back at his bathroom and room. When he came back to the dining room, he was greeted by the smell of a delicious breakfast. Not only that, but Amber had also seemed to have awakened. “Good morning, Lirio!” She said to him. “Ah, good morning, Amber. I see I am the late one up this morning…” He said, pointing out his own tardiness as everyone else was already sitting at the table. “Oh, no worries. I just finished making breakfast too, so you are right on time!” Lily responded. “But, before we all eat, your dad and I wanted to give you your gift! Think of it as a post-adventure-start present!” Lily stepped into another one of the rooms momentarily and came back with a rather interesting egg. It had the pattern of a Togepi, Lirio thought, but the triangles on the shell were gold instead of white, so he dismissed the thought of it being a Togepi egg. Lily set the egg down on the table and, what Lirio thought was definitely not a Togepi, turned out to be a Togepi after all. The Pokemon woke up from its slumber and gave a rather cheerful hello to everyone. “Oh my gosh! It is so cute!” Amber said with joy. “Oh wait, it gets better,” Eden chimed in. Lily grabbed a box from one of the cabinets and pulled out a bow tie, top hat, and cane from it which she dressed the Togepi with. “See, even cuter,” Eden said waiting for comments. The Togepi gently waved the cane around and made joyful, chirping noises. “You were right! It is even cuter now!” Amber said, fawning over the baby Pokemon. “Is this Pokemon for me?” Lirio asked densely. “Well, of course! One of our friends from the daycare said a couple of her client’s Pokemon had an odd-looking egg. The client wasn’t sure it would be best to keep the egg himself, so he left it with them. They don’t have time to care for extra Pokemon, so they let us take it. We had Professor Elm check over it the other day when it hatched to see if the Togepi was healthy. He said it seemed normal and healthy in all aspects except its golden color. He also said to monitor it, but the color may be outgrown or be permanent. We don’t know yet. As much as your father and I would love to take care of this adorable munchkin, we thought he might be a good partner for you!” “I am sure Lirio will take good care of the baby, considering what I know of him,” Monk Konoha added, seemingly deciding that Lirio will keep the baby before he could respond. Lirio picked up the Togepi, who was puzzled at first. Lirio looked at him for a moment as he playfully waved his arms before giving it a hug. “Well, I guess I can’t say no to that face. I’ll name him, Aurum for his gold color! Do you like the sound of that, little one?” The baby Pokemon cheered happily and enjoyed Lirio’s hug. “Well, now that you have your gift, I say we should dig in!” Eden announced. Everyone welcomed the idea as it was beginning to become late in the morning and none had eaten yet.

Everyone enjoyed the delicious meal made by Lily Mushikaze, Lirio’s mom. In fact, towards the end, she was unsure if she had made enough food for everyone. To her relief, there was enough to leave everyone satisfied. They talked a great deal and enjoyed each other’s company greatly. Once they were done, Eden tried to say he had work to do but was interrupted by Lily. “Nope! No work today! Your son is in town and we should all spend time together. We could watch him battle Bugsy and get his second gym badge!” She protested. “Actually, mom, I was planning on training in Ilex Forest today for a bit before I go to battle Bugsy, but I will probably challenge him tomorrow, so we can hang out then!” “Oh, well, I guess you can work today, Eden…” Lily replied, a bit deflated. “Actually, Miss Mushikaze, I did have something I needed your help with if you don’t mind. That was actually the main purpose of my trip here, along with one other smaller task in town,” Monk Konoha added. “Oh, well, I guess now that the plans have changed, that is fine too. Amber, what about you? Do you have any plans?” “Actually, no. I do not, but I haven’t been to Azalea Town before, so some sightseeing would be fun!” Lily’s face lit up, “Great! I can show you around the town once Monk Konoha and I are finished with whatever we need to address. I don’t think it should take long. For now, you can stay here and enjoy looking around our garden. A couple of Lirio’s other Pokemon as well as some of mine and Eden are out there. I am sure some wild Pokemon are also visiting.” “That sounds fun. From the looks of it, your place is rather large and must have nice landscaping to go along with it,” Amber commented. “Okay, so, now everyone knows what they are doing. We’ll just meet back here whenever. Just be careful, especially you, Lirio,” Eden said, content with the new plans. Everyone nodded in agreement before going their separate ways.

The first thing Lirio did once he exited his parent’s house was walk through the garden. He enjoyed the many scents and sights it had. He also intended to visit Pappilio as well as Aster while looking around it. After a little bit of walking, he found Aster and Pappilio playing with some of the other residents of the garden. Aster was the first to notice Lirio and lazily drifted in his direction. “Hello, Aster, it is good to see you and Pappilio getting along with the other Pokemon!” It wasn’t until Lirio spoke, that Pappilio realized he was here and came rushing towards him. Lirio patted his head and smiled. He then reached for a few of his Pokeballs and sent out three of his Pokemon, Goji, Calla, and Beryl. Goji seemed as oblivious as ever, but Beryl and Calla were happy to see Lirio. “Okay, you three. I am going to have you stay here with my parents for some time. They’ll take good care of you and are rather nice people. Calla, I know we have been in some dangerous situations so far, and I don’t want you getting hurt or being put at unnecessary risk, so that is why I want you to stay here for now, okay?” Calla didn’t seem to understand at first but must have figured out what Lirio meant and happily nodded. Goji looked around and saw a nearby bush full of berries, which he immediately began to move towards. Beryl and Calla left a moment later to go play with the other Pokemon. “It seems there is no need to worry,” Lirio said to himself before leaving to Ilex Forest.

The Drapion began to tread through the forest at a relatively quick pace, much faster than Lirio, Cressa, and Ignis alone could have gone with only Ignis’ light to shine the way. After a bit, they arrived at the outskirts of Azalea Town where Drapion stopped at the forest’s edge. Lirio and Cressa hopped off her back and turned to thank the Pokemon. She then returned back to the darkness of the forest satisfied. Lirio looked at his Pokegear to check the time and saw that it was quite late in the night. Naturally, he didn’t have signal in the forest and would have been unable to contact his friends or family to let them know he would be this late to getting home. He didn’t let that worry him though as he would be able to explain once he got home. What worried him though was that Watson, Reina, And Colby must be doing nefarious acts in the shadows near his hometown, but Lirio tried to push that out of his mind for now. He and Cressa walked to his parent’s house, which was not too far from the forest’s edge, and entered the home. Somewhat surprisingly, the house was silent and everyone seemed to be asleep. Although he knew his parents would probably not have worried too much for him, he did expect at least someone to still be up waiting to see when he would return. He didn’t let it bother him too much though as he realized it was quite late, so he went to bed and rested till the morning.

When Lirio awoke, the sun had already risen, which was later than his usual wake-up time. He got ready for the day and tried not to let it bother him that he woke up late. Cressa seemingly returned to her Pokeball at some point before Lirio woke up, so it was just him in his room this morning. The faint aroma of breakfast was coming from down the hall. Lirio took his time and did not rush to hurry today, feeling accomplished at what he and his Pokemon had done the day before. When he finally left his room, Lirio went to the dining area and saw his parents sitting there speaking with Monk Konoha along with a scowling Amber. “You are late! So late! “Ah, right, you haven’t told us about your time in Ilex Forest yesterday. We last heard that you were going to train, then we all fell asleep before you returned,” Eden added, seemingly indifferent if Lirio actually shared his story but rather seemed to be clearing his thoughts better. “Right, I did forget to explain fully before being teased by mom,” Lirio said, glaring at her for a moment. “It was just too easy! I had to take the opportunity! Now, what happened that kept you out so late?” Lily said, finally asking the question everyone had been dancing around for a bit. Lirio went on to explain what happened the previous day, including the encounter with Shaymin and Team Rocket. He also told them about the new Pokemon that joined his team and how they met, releasing them from their Pokeballs as they were introduced to his story. “Wow! Seems like you really did have an adventure yesterday!” Amber commented on first, thoroughly impressed by what he said. “If you weren’t as honest as I know you are nor had the Pokemon here to prove it, it would be hard to believe that you met Shaymin in Ilex Forest. Legendary Pokemon don’t make their appearances in front of most people. Then again, I imagine that Shaymin could sense your good heart and knew you’d be able to help her,” Monk Konoha said, still digesting the information she had just been told.

I know the League technically only allows 6 Pokemon on your team,” Lily asked Lirio. “Actually, yes, that would be greatly appreciated! If you two could watch over Amaryllis and Oakland for me, that would be great! I’ll keep the rest with me for now in case I need to swap anyone out quickly,” Lirio said, releasing Amaryllis and Oakland from their Pokeballs before kneeling down to speak to them, “Okay, you two, I was wondering if you all would like to stay here with my parents for the time being? They are really nice and would love to have you both! You’d be able to spend all day together too without worrying about battles and whatnot. It is safe here in this town and rather peaceful. What do you two say?” Amaryllis and Oakland looked at each other for a moment. Oakland was the first to nod, which shocked Amaryllis for a moment, who seemed to still be contemplating. After seeing Oakland respond though, she moved forward to nuzzle Lirio for a moment and be patted before stepping back and nodding yes. “Alright! Thank you. I will still be in town for a bit and come to visit when I can after that. For now, Monk Konoha, Amber, and I are going to go to a couple of places in town, including to fight the Gym Leader Bugsy,” Lirio said to Amaryllis and Oakland before turning slightly to also address his mom and dad, “You all are free to come and watch the battle at the gym too. I wouldn’t mind the support.” “Oh! Of course! We didn’t have anything planned for the day anyway besides maybe just a few things around the house, right dear?” Lily said, a bit surprised by the invite. “Not that I can think of. Lirio, Amber, and Monk Konoha, as well as Dracaena and the still-unnamed shiny Skorupi, made their way towards Kurt’s Appriball workshop and home. On their way over, Lirio was explaining to the rest of them a bit about the town and what they were seeing with much excitement and nostalgia, clearly in love with the town. “Wow, you really do like it here! It seems like a wonderful town, but I do think I prefer the bustle of the city,” Amber commented. “I personally love the small-town feeling of Azalea Town. It is much easier to focus with fewer distractions than in Violet City. As comparatively peaceful Sprout Tower is compared to the rest of the City, it can still get a bit busy and noisy there. I grew up in Violet City and remember its more infantile stages of development quite fondly,” Monk Konoha added, reminiscing of days past. “I feel you could certainly learn to love this town too, Amber. There is actually a lot to explore and discover here, even by oneself.” “Maybe one day I may appreciate it more long term, I will say it is nice to have a change of scenery from the city though. Anyway, you mentioned that the unique Ekans you have now is named Dracaena, but what about the little gal? Does she have a name yet?” “Oh, right, I had been thinking of one since she decided to join my team last night. I am not too familiar with the different names for colors though, so I might need help with that or her name might be something like just ‘red,’” “Oh! A color name? Yes, I feel the name Carmine would be fitting then. It is a rather bright red said to almost contain tones of purple in it. It is one of the dyes we also sometimes use at Sprout Tower. Considering the way it is spelled too, it could be considered a corruption of the feminine name ‘Carmen’ as well, which makes it more fitting I feel,” Monk Konoha knowledgeably suggested, surprising Lirio and Amber with her knowledge on different colors. “Ah! That is a great name! What do you think, Carmine?” Lirio said, turning to the Skorupi. She smiled and hopped up with excitement. “Great! It seems that is settled. Oh, and also, we are here at Kurt’s too, so we should probably go inside,” Lirio announced.

The small group entered Kurt’s workshop. When they did, an apprentice that had been working on something stopped what he was doing and greeted the guests, “Welcome in, travelers and, oh! Hello, Lirio! It is good to see you again!” “It is good to see you too, Kent!” Lirio said as he went up to the apprentice and gave him a high-five. After this interaction, Kent’s tone seemed to become far less formal, “Who are these people you brought? One of them looks like she may smack me on the head if I say the wrong thing. The other one is cute though.” “Excuse me?!” Amber said in shock as she ran over and smacked Kent on the head. “Ouch! I didn’t think the cute one and the smacking one were the same person…” Kent said as he rubbed his head. “They are a couple of friends that are traveling with me temporarily on my journey. We came to see Kurt. I wanted a few Pokeballs made by him and the “smack-looking” one is actually a monk from Sprout Tower. Her name is Monk Konoha and she has some personal business to attend to with Kurt,” Lirio explained. Before Kent could respond, Kurt called out from one of the other rooms, “What is with all of that commotion from over there?! Are you harassing our patrons, Kent?” “Gah! No sir! It is just Lirio and some friends of his, Master Kurt!” “Oh, why didn’t you say so? I would have come over to say hi sooner!” Kurt said as his voice grew nearer seemingly from him walking towards the room the others were in. Kurt walked into the room shortly after this response and greeted everyone formally, “Hello hello! It is good to have guests, especially ones that are friends with Lirio! Oh? Monk Konoha! I didn’t expect you to be arriving so soon. You should have called before coming over.” “I decided to make a surprise visit sooner than intended and traveled to Azalea Town with Lirio and his friend Amber the other day. I believe Lirio wanted to have you craft some Appriballs for him, after we discuss our matters first, of course.” “Ah, yes. I am sorry, Lirio, but we will have to catch up some other time. If you don’t mind handing the Appricorns you have to Kent here, I can create the Appriballs for you by tomorrow. “That is okay, Kurt, I am just glad to see that you are doing well. I understand that there are other things you must attend to.” Lirio handed the Appriballs to Kent who gladly took them from him. “Now, shall we go to the other room to discuss, Monk Konoha?” “Of course. You all can stay here. We shouldn’t need to discuss for too long,” Monk Konoha instructed.

While the meeting did not last very long, but what Lirio and Amber did not know that the business Monk Konoha had in Azalea Town was seeing her old friends here, which included Kurt and Lirio’s parents. Perhaps Monk Konoha wanted to remain a little bit mysterious in regards to her meeting with Kurt or maybe she simply wished to see him alone for a moment and reminisce about the old days. Either way, Lirio and Amber were not told why the monk had a meeting with Kurt. When Amber pressed further for more answers, Monk Konoha simply answered with, “Sorry, but they were private matters. I need not tell either of you,” which sufficed for Lirio, but Amber was less than pleased. Amber eventually let the issue go when they all arrived at Bugsy’s gym later, although she had bugged Monk Konoha occasionally during the walk. In fact, she was so busy trying to think of a plan to get Monk Konoha to spill the beans, that she hadn’t even noticed when Lirio had called his parents to let him know they were going to the Gym. Lirio and Monk Konoha didn’t seem phased by the stark contrast the gym had to the rest of the buildings in the town, but Amber was quite impressed at the massive, blue greenhouse. She looked up in awe at it for a bit until Lirio and Monk Konoha noticed she had fallen behind as they entered the gym doors. “Have you never seen a building like this before? I find it to look quite similar to some oddly shaped buildings in cities, don’t you think?” Monk Konoha said to Amber. “It is quite different from any building I have seen in a city! I can’t believe you all aren’t in shock at the sight of it!” “I mean, we have seen it before, Amber. We’re both rather familiar with Azalea Town. Besides, my favorite part of the gym is inside,” Lirio said, beginning to get excited at the thought of being inside the gym once again. The three continued into the gym and saw how, save for the blue glass walls, the inside looked just the same as the forest outside. “It’s… the same?” Amber asked befuddled. “Oh, right, yes, the forest in here is pretty much just a chunk of the outside forest put into a dome for easier observation! I find it rather unique and awe-inspiring. I do wonder where Bugsy is though? I hope we didn’t miss him. He does travel a lot, but hopefully, he is somewhere in here observing his bug friends,” Lirio replied wondering where his friend could currently be found.

Suddenly, some rustling came from a nearby bush and the three travelers turned towards the noise. After what sounded like someone stumbling and struggling a bit, a purple-haired boy nearly fell out of the bushes. He took a moment to tidy himself up before looking up with excitement, “Lirio! I thought I heard your voice! It is so good to see you again!” “Bugsy! We were hoping that you were here at your gym and not out somewhere exploring!” Lirio said as he walked up to hug Bugsy. “It seems you also brought Monk Konoha too and another guest? Who is she?” “She is a friend I met in Violet City. Her name is Amber and she is joining me on my adventure for a bit as part of her vacation before she returns back to Violet City.” “I see, vacation with a lady friend!” “We are just friends!” Amber and Lirio said simultaneously. Incidentally, the door to the gym opened only a moment later. Through which, Lirio’s parents walked in. “Ah! Sorry, we took so long! I told your father to not take his “shortcut” to get here since it didn’t work the last time…” Lirio’s mother shouted from the entrance as the two approached the others. “I just made another wrong turn before we got here is all! Either way, we are here now and ready to watch your battle, Lirio!” “Greetings Mr. and Mrs. Mushikaze! It is so great to see you two again! We were actually just about to walk towards the arena. Although, I almost forgot that your friend and Monk Konoha were here and that you did technically come seeking a gym badge. Follow me to the battlefield, not that you need any directions to it. I am sure you know this place as well as anybody else, including me,” Bugsy replied, beginning to lead the group towards the center of the gym. Lirio and the others followed. Lirio and Bugsy continued to chatter back and forth during the entire walk. Lily and Eden Mushikaze walked slightly behind them having an enthralling conversation of their own. They tell me that I was found abandoned near the Tower at a very early age and taken in there. I haven’t felt lonely there ever though. While the visitors come and go, the monks and maidens tend to stay there their whole lives, so it really was like a family there. I have sometimes thought about finding my birth family, but I also feel that is unnecessary at this point. Amber hadn’t realized that they had already reached the stage at first until Bugsy shouted and was surprised to see how such a large, empty field was hidden away within the forested dome. “If you are ready, Lirio, I can officiate the battle between you and Josh. He is new here. Then, if you beat him, he can officiate our battle, okay?” “Got it, I am ready when he is!” “Great! Josh and Lirio, go to your sides of the arena and I will go to my officiators box and announce when you two can begin!” “Uh, Bugsy, he seems tough. Are you sure I should-?” “Yes, Josh! He is a challenger! Besides, he technically only has one badge, so it should be fine.” Bugsy said, winking at Lirio in secret. “Alright. “Alright, go, Ledyba!” Josh called out. “Thorin, you are up!” Lirio yelled aloud. “Lirio, you may attack first as one of our honored guests!” Bugsy said, despite knowing that Lirio didn’t need the handicap. “In that case, let’s start this battle off with some sparks! Thorin, use Zap Cannon!” “Wha-!” Both Bugsy and Josh looked in shock at Lirio and his Heracross as the bug type began to charge the move. “Gah, uh! Ledyba, try to dodge!” Josh said frantically. However, by the time Josh had called out this command, the move was ready to be shot out, making quick work of the Ledyba. Josh looked at his knocked-out Ledyba in front of him and was in disbelief, “How was that even possible?!” Lirio simply went up to his Heracross and patted him on the back, congratulating him on the battle. “Wow, I too didn’t even know that Heracross could learn Zap Cannon! That was shocking!” Amber said to Monk Konoha and Lirio’s parents at the sidelines. “Well, typically they can’t, but I have heard reports of some Pokemon being able to learn moves that many others of their kind are unable to learn. They are a bit special amongst their kind. Lirio must have found a Heracross with such special capabilities. Impressive,” Monk Konoha replied calmly. “Oh, that is Liri for you! Just full of surprises for you!” Lily replied. “I wonder what Bugsy will do now that he knows of Lirio’s secret technique. “That was quite a surprise, Lirio! Really electrifying to watch!” Bugsy said as he walked towards Lirio and Thorin. “I was surprised, too, the first time I saw Thorin use that move. It certainly comes in handy though. He is a good Heracross. In fact, he is the same one I nurtured back to health before I started my journey. You know, the one in Ilex Forest where I later met Burgh?” “Oh! That same one? Well, I am glad you two are reunited! That being said, I won’t be going easy on you, especially now that I know one more of your tricks!” Bugsy responded as he began to walk towards the other side of the field. “I wouldn’t have it any other way!” Lirio yelled out. “Alright, Josh, please officiate our battle,” Bugsy requested as he sent out his Ledian when he reached the opposite side of the battlefield. Josh nodded before going to his side of the field. “Now! You all may begin the battle!” Josh yelled out. “Alright, Thorin, you know what to do!” Lirio said to Thorin who nodded in response. Thorin began to prepare a Zap Cannon attack, but Bugsy remained calm and didn’t initially respond. Right before Thorin was about to send out the attack, Bugsy called out a command to his Ledian, “Let’s weaken that move a bit and use Light Screen!” Ledian’s attack blocks much of the damage from the Zap Cannon, allowing it to shrug off one attack. Lirio smirks a bit, clearly enjoying the added difficulty of this battle with his childhood friend, Bugsy. “You seem to be enjoying yourself! Well, how about some Supersonic!” Bugsy calls out. “Thorin, dodge the attack and get up close for a counterattack! Ledian is slower now thanks to paralysis!” To Busgy’s dismay, Lirio was right in his analysis. Although his Ledian attempted to use the commanded move, it moved too slowly from the paralysis to land a hit before Thorin reached it. “Now, Thorin, use Aerial Ace!” Thorin did as commanded and launched the Ledian high into the air before unleashing an onslaught of attacks, knocking it out in the process. Bugsy returned his Ledian before smiling and sending out a Scyther, “I expected nothing less from my friend Lirio! Now, let’s start the real fun!” Bugsy hollered out, unable to hold in his excitement. “I’ll return Thorin for now and send out Kanan, my own Ledian! This battle will indeed be fun!” Lirio responded as he sent out Kanan, “Alright, Kanan, this is my friend Busgy, so we must show him how strong we are!” Kanan nodded in reassurance and prepared for the battle. “Let’s keep up the sparks and use Thunder Punch, Kanan!” “Don’t let them make contact with you, Scyther, and use Wing Attack in retaliation!” Kanan and Scyther flew towards each other with great speed. Kanan used all four of its arms to try and attack Scyther, but it was being slightly outsped by the opponent who was managing to dodge his attacks. That being said, Scyther certainly had to stay on its toes and was unable to find a point to counter-attack. After multiple dodges from the oncoming punches, it seemed Scyther grew impatient and tried to go for an attack that left it wide open to be hit by Kanan. While Scyther landed a hit on Kanan with a powerful Wing Attack, Kanan too landed an electrifying Thunder Punch to Scyther’s mid area. The two Pokemon were sent backward from the attacks. Both were tired already, but neither seemed to want to give up. “Kanan, you doing alright?” Lirio asked. Kanan nodded and took a readied stance to battle more. “They are both powerful Pokemon. The next move may decide the battle,” Eden commented. “That sure is a powerful Ledian! I can tell you two trust each other greatly,” Bugsy called out to Lirio, “Now, Scyther, ready yourself and unleash your Vaccum Wave!” Scyther prepped an attack and sent out a shockwave towards Kanan, however, it seemed Lirio was anticipating this and knew the battle would be over soon. “Dive right through the attack and use your own move, Kanan!” “Wha-?!” Bugsy exclaimed as he saw Kanan dive headfirst into Scyther’s attack and hit his face with Thunder Punch, knocking out Scyther. “Well, that sure was a surprise! But, I expected nothing less from you, Lirio! “Scyther is unable to battle, making Lirio the winner of the battle!” Josh announced. Everyone on the sidelines cheered for Lirio who smiled in response. He then ran up to Kanan and gave him a hug, “Amazing job, Kanan! Looks like we just won our second badge!” Kanan smiled back and cheered. Bugsy then returned his Scyther and walked up to Lirio to congratulate his friend. “Again, I have to say that I expected nothing less from you, Lirio. Thank you for that awesome battle! Now, I am officially allowed to give you your badge and TM for beating me!” Bugsy said as he handed Lirio the two items. “Thanks, Bugs! We definitely prepared a lot to battle you and it paid off. I knew I had to impress you!” “Aw, there was no need for that. You know that I already admire you as my friend!” Bugsy said as he gave Lirio a high-five.
