 "The City of Fragrant Flowers."
Just inland from a small harbor in southern Johto, Cherrygrove City is a lush and fertile river side city that is a popular stop for anyone passing through the Johto Region. Without a gym the city stays quite on most days, but that does not mean that the city is any less meaningful to pass through. Because of the rivers that flow past the city from the tributaries just west of the city, it's land is fertile all year round with beautiful green trees and grass that always have enough water to thrive. Yearly during the spring season too because of it's abundant water, wild flowers are very common and bring a wide variety of color to the landscape here. The rivers that pass by the city are popular spots for budding trainers to work on their skills around water and water type Pokemon, for just out on the harbor is a small series of little islands that make great first training spots.

She could speak from a personal stand point that if she saw another Cipher she wouldn't just let them walk away. But that aside, she honestly in her naievity hand't considered the possibility of having her cover blown. Demeter was a thinker, a planner, yes, but just like any human, she wasn't perfect, and neither was her plan. She was unrecognizable here in the main lands, at least walking down the street. Sure, she pulled some big jobs around the other regions, but on the job she was Spade, and that's who the world knew her as. In her Cipher uniform, her tattoos showing, and her signature wide brimmed hats, no simpleton passing her by would be able to put two and two together. Her fellow admin though, while still simpletons, knew her and would know to recognize her.
"Seems like this is more of a gamble than we thought," Loki spoke after a moment, having too be listening to Calcifer's words. Demeter still though wasn't giving it up, not when she had just started.
"Minthos, report," Demeter spoke then, and in an instant a Hypno appeared before her without a word.
"Media scan. Key word Cipher," she ordered, handing the psychic type her cell phone. Minthos took the device in his two hands, his medalion dangling from his fingers as he looked up to his commanding officer.
"Subject parameters," he stated, inquiring the area in which Demeter was looking to scan.
"Subject parameters, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. Three years," she replied, knowing they were far from the Orre region, and if any activity was going to be reported recently, it would probably be in Unova or Kalos. Minthos, one of the leading intellects within the Cipher facility, was very good at his job which was namely research reports, data processing, and statistical information. He was completely brilliant when it came to researching information both on a computer and through the minds around him and could gather information on just about any subject you requested. He was assigned to Demeter as a part of her Cipher regulated team as she had moved up in her position, and has been working with her since. He's been loyal enough to her during their time together, gradually defying more of his ingrained Cipher protocols, and Demeter knew he was smart enough to know what she was planning. She would never know though if it was his loyalty that was changing or if he was choosing to stay due to the probabilities of her success. She'd like to know, but wasn't going to ask. Loki and Calcifer were the only ones who knew of her eventual bigger plan, and the only ones who didn't belong to Cipher first. Naveera, Buea, and Tisodo were all Cipher Pokemon. She couldn't know abotu Tisodo and Buea really, but knew absolutely that if Naveera knew that Demeter was planning to betray Cipher, the dragon wouldn't have it. So they didn't talk about it.
As far as anyone knew, their mission was strictly recconnaisance, and it was going to stay that way for as long as she could keep it. "In the last three years, in these four regions, Cipher has only been in the news or any kind of media representation a very small amount compared to everything else over that time, so any news has been flooded over. My own representation in this news is so little that maybe, maybe, one person out of sixty thousand has a chance of recognizing me. And our fellow explorers haven't made it this far yet, typically so, so with all of that in mind, we move forward," Demeter explained.
"We'll follow normal precaution. My tattoos don't show, my name is Vanessa. We don't stay in one place for any longer than necessary, and any Cipher correspondance is handled on the secure network," she continued, plotting, more carefully, on how to move forward.
"We'll keep our senses sharp, and pay attention to the movement of our competition. To spare collateral damage, Minthos will target the memory, anyone more pressing on the matter will be dealt with. Any questions," she asked finally, looking to Loki and Calcifer who had come up from the ground. The two looked at each other, Calficer only offering a half hearted shrug.
"Eh, what the hell? I'm already dead, let's go again," the ghost replied, not daring to show that he approved even the slightest of how they were going to proceed. He knew that Demeter know the longer this search went on, the more at risk Cipher would become. They were spread thin enough already, and the more Cipher goons that made themselves known moivng through the regions would raise action against them.
"Lead on 'Vanessa'. We'll follow," Lokie commented finally, only wondering now just how easy their lives were going to be in the cmoing future. "Now, we're moving to Violet City, that's where Johto's first leader is," she spoke, taking out a single Pokeball to reveal a large dark blue and black Noivern with piercing red eyes that turned to glare down at Demeter.
"We're going West Naveera. Violet City," she commanded, moving towards the dragon, staring her right back in the eyes. Naveera had to be dealt with as an equal, but one needed to be firm and commanding with her. If she thought for a moment that you were afraid or showed any kind of weakness, then she wouldn't respond. You weren't worth her time.
"Naveera cordially requests to know of our business in Violet City," Loki commented to Demeter as the dragon loomed over them.
"The reason we came to Johto is because this is Lugia's natural territory. We're going to be working our way to power within the league while traveling the region to possibly catch word of it's whereabouts," Demeter explained plainly to Naveera whom contemplated this information. After a moment, the Noivern complied, allowing Demeter to mount her for the flight to the west. Naveera started to rise from the ground as Calcifer and Loki were left to their own, looking at each other and then up to the ascending Noivern. "That's where I would contest that you're wrong Calcifer," the Zoroark replied, a breeze moving through his dark raven hair.
"I think she is fully aware of what may come in the future, and I don't think she's so dowel so as not to realize the weight of possible consequences. She doesn't know failure, because she is so confident in us that things will go according to plain, that failure isn't a forseeable outcome. And should something diverge from her planning and plotting, you know very well that she is going to make everything fit how it needs to, and how she wants it to," Loki explained thoughtfully.
"She is going to make sure everything works, and in that persistence, she will see progress," he finished.
Calficer stood there incrediously for a moment before looking up to the Zoroark with a rather perplexed look.
"You can't be serious? You must be going soft, or dumb, or both," he replied, unable to truly believe Loki's, what was that? Sentiment?
"Whatever the case, our young human will need our help. Wouldn't a lavish life of luxury be nice to spend your time in," Lokie merely answered, not needing to answer to Calcifer's derogation as his form disappeared in place of a black, gold, and emerald green Pidgeot that started after the Noivern in the distance.

It was a new Town, and a new chance for adventure. The problem was, Thomas had been to Cherrygrove with his parents when they went shopping. There wasn't much to do. He knew from past experiences that this was a City of rats, birds, and bugs. Nothing very exciting, and nothing he hadn't seen a million times growing up. He made his way down the path, finally making it into the City with a few hours of daylight remaining in the day. He would stay the night, and head out of the City the next morning.

Nearly every Pokemon Center had a place where Trainers could rest for the night, and the good news for Julian was that he didn't need to speak to anyone to use them. He waved at Nurse Joy, went down a back hallway and started trying doors. The first couple were locked, the third was unlocked (but occupied), and finally he found an open room. He set his bag carefully down beside the bed, so as not to disturb the organized contents. He pet the head of both Umbreon and Espeon with a smile and lay down. It really didn't take long for him to fall asleep, especially with the comforting weight of his two Eeveelutions by his feet.

Nudged awake the next morning by Umbreon, he rubbed the sleep from his eyes and sat up in bed. He was wearing his pants, but he didn't sleep with a shirt on. He was shirtless when he approached the door. Umbreon always woke him when there was someone knocking at the door.
He opened the door, stretching. He watched the young Trainer's lips as he started in. It was too early for this kid to be talking this fast, and he had to concentrate harder than usual to read the kid's lips. 'Something is happening down in Violet City!' Was the first coherent sentence Julian understood. 'It's huge!' Apparently the kid was telling everyone, because he moved onto the next door.
Julian closed his door, sighing and pulling on the same shirt from yesterday. He grabbed his jacket, throwing it on since the mornings were cool this time of year. Grabbing his backpack, he was ready to move on.

Julian Malcolm
While the girl Julian had very recently met searched about for her own Pokemon to 'encounter', and then battle, Julian was lost in his own thoughts. He kept going over his last Gym Battle, and how close he'd come to winning. One Pokemon away, he was only one away from victory; he was sure of it. How on Earth could he ever hope to become the Trainer he set out to be, and prove that his disability had nothing to do with his ability? He probably should have come to some internal decision to buckle down, train harder than ever with his Pokemon, but he simply slipped further away into his depression. He smiled at Liz when she captured a young Sentret, because he'd always found them to be a really adorable little Pokemon.
However, it seemed she were looking at him for either approval or advice. Damn! He hadn't been paying close enough attention to the battle to offer pointers, but she must have been doing something right since Cyndaquil, Cherry, was still standing and Sentret was sealed safely inside of Liz's Pokeball. "That was great, really." Just then, something occurred to him. "We're pretty close to Cherrygrove City by now, why don't we go check out the Pokemon Center and get Cherry all fixed up?"-Backpack-

Elizabeth Morgan The trip had proven exciting and she hardly realized how far they had managed to come. Cherrygrove City was much closer than it seemed on a map, which only made the trip better for the redheaded woman. "You think so? Cherry got scratched up." She looked disappointed, like Sentret's damage to her Cyndaquil was somehow her fault for not protecting him. She was holding Cherry in her arms still, and even scrounging a Potion out of her pack. "Hold still. This will sting." She told her Cyndaquil, watching him squeeze his eyes shut as she squeezed the trigger and sprayed the small wounds on his face. The pained squeal made her heart ache, but she didn't give up. It was better to hurt now and get it cleaned up than give it a chance to get worse. Liz dabbed the scratches gently with a cloth and smiled as Cherry calmed down. "There. Isn't that better?" She praised her Pokemon for his bravery. He let out a small yawn and curled up in his trainer's arms for some rest since he wasn't being put back into his ball.
Liz went into the Pokemon Center with Julian to get her team attended to. She went outside to look around the city while Cherry and Rin were getting treated for their battle damage. There was a shape shaking around in a bush nearby that got her attention. Rather than move away, like sense would expect, Liz approached the sound. She jumped as Bounsweet rolled out of the undergrowth. "Oh! Hello there." The little berry Pokemon looked panicked at first glanced, then looked up to Liz quizzically. She was hurt, but very much alive. "Where's your trainer? You're all scratched up." She remarked, huffing in frustration. Bounsweet wasn't an owned Pokemon like she assumed, but she hadn't been the first person to walk past it. What was wrong with people? She was careful to pick up Bounsweet and hurried straight back to the Pokemon Center. "Hey! Can you help this Pokemon?" She announced, walking straight to Nurse Joy with a focused scowl. "It got hurt outside!" She explained, not wanting to add that it was all alone. Joy could already tell it was a wild Pokemon, even though Bounsweet was a delightful creature like a domestic Pokemon.
Liz was about to take a seat when Nurse Joy called her back. It was a short conversation. Bounsweet had no trainer like she thought it did, and she was being offered the opportunity to claim it. While getting a new Pokemon hadn't occurred to her, but she agreed without a moment's hesitation. Cherry was brought out with Bounsweet sitting beside him and Rin's Pokeball in between the two. She took Bounsweet into her arms along with her partner and smiled again. "Hi, Belle. I'm going to be your trainer now." She had picked out a name while waiting for Joy to finish treating her rapidly growing team. After introducing herself to her Bounsweet, Liz turned to look at Julian again after having so quickly walked away from their conversation. "This is Julian. He'll be your friend, too. Like Torkoal." She declared. Liz was smiling at Julian again. She was a full grown woman, but the wonder and excitement she had was that of a young girl experiencing the world for the first time. Julian honestly couldn't tell the Bounsweet was wild either; Pokemon that belonged to a Trainer sometimes got separated and injured themselves That didn't seem to be the case here, however. It looked more like someone had battled the Fruit Pokemon and then left it there. As rude as that may be in hindsight, Julian realized he'd done the same thing to more than one Pokemon. It's just how this whole thing worked. He could feel how upset she was as they returned, barely twenty feet out, back to the Pokemon Center. She didn't like to battle, even though he had assured her that all Pokemon take damage in a battle. It was an unavoidable outcome, but Pokemon were very resilient and they could bounce right back at a moment's notice. Umbreon and Espeon had remained out, keeping at their Trainer's side. Espeon had apparently gotten over her attitude, and seemed to be trying to show off her devotion by staying right at Julian's side - like she'd been trained to do by Julian's Father. Torkoal, however, had long-since been recalled to his Pokeball. He was sort of a slow walker, and much too heavy to carry.
It was sort of ironic that they encountered the Bounsweet here. While it's true that Cherrygrove is known as the City of Fragrant Flowers, Bounsweet wasn't a native Pokemon to this Region. Either way, it seemed that Liz had yet another new friend. Bounsweet, though wild, seemed delighted to be with her now. Julian watched her, wondering how Liz was going to capture the Bounsweet, knowing that she was going to be overly gentle and worry about it's safety, health, and quality of life. That just seemed to be the kind of Trainer she was. She'd make a good Pokemon Doctor, or Nurse with devotion and care like that. Leaving the Pokemon Center yet again, they all walked down the sidewalk as friends. "If you want to battle the Gym Leaders, we'll have to walk to Violet City." Julian didn't know what the girl wanted to do with her life. He wouldn't let any information slip though; if she did choose to battle Falkner then he wanted her to get the full experience of figuring out what kind of Pokemon he used and the best way to fight back. Julian smiled politely at... Belle, was it... as they were introduced.

Elizabeth Morgan Liz was uncertain where she wanted to go from here. Battling Gym Leaders didn't sound very appealing, but she knew it was important to help Pokemon grow stronger. Cherry, at least, wanted that. Belle got acquainted with Cherry and Julian and the other Pokemon before she was finally put away into a Pokeball so that Liz could focus on walking more than carrying her Pokemon. It wasn't really something she wanted to do, but she could only achieve so much without dropping something. "Battling still, huh?" She remarked, looking down at Cherry who stared quizzically up at his trainer. "I guess there's really no other choice. Is there?" She was not happy to consider letting her Pokemon fight more, but that certainly wasn't her place to the natural tendencies of at least one of her Pokemon. At the very least, Cherry would be fine with learning how to battle and beat other Pokemon. He had been all for fighting with Sentret, even when she hadn't been ready to.
Liz was distracted for a while and thinking carefully about the choices she had ahead of her. She could find a way to avoid fighting, but that didn't seem like a reasonable outcome. "Do you think it's a good idea?" Liz asked, fixing her full attention on Julian now. He was the only person she had to look to for any advice. And he was clearly good at what he did. Liz was questioning him on whether it was worth it; battling the Gym Leaders for Badges. "I say it is, it helps your Pokemon grow stronger." He showed her all six of his Gym Badges, pinned to his backpack. "Plus, earning these makes you feel accomplished." She seemed to think about this for a while, before their conversation shifted direction yet again with her asking about other options. "Oh, yeah... I've heard there are other things you can do as well... although I'm not really sure what they are." He had never paid too much attention to Contests, or the Ranger School, or anything along those lines. He could tell she was just as apprehensive about the battles; how she didn't like to see Pokemon, wild or her own, hurt from fighting one another. It didn't really seem to matter that they could be healed back to top physical condition in a matter of minutes. He had to admit though, she had the potential to be a great Pokemon Trainer if she set her mind to it. She'd already encountered and captured two Pokemon, and they were barely into the first City of their journey.

Elizabeth Morgan It was hard to consider that fighting was the only way to get better, but she would have to accept it for now at least. Julian did admit she had options outside of the Gym Challenge, but there was not much to gain from asking for more when he had already admitted he didn't know much about what he suggested. It was enough to give her hope. She could move on and figure out new solutions if she decided that battles just weren't for her. The badges sounded pretty cool. Something to prove she was successful and she had heard from a traveler that they came with some decent perks. Even Pokemon recognized some kind of authority with badge-carrying trainers. "They're so pretty. How did you get so many?" She asked, easily impressed by his collection. It was a silly question. Of course he beat the Gyms. But now Julian had the opportunity to show off and brag about his various Gym battles. She wanted to hear all about how good it could be. "Were you ever scared? Did anybody ever get hurt?" Elizabeth Morgan Liz was happy to listen to what Julian felt about his achievements. It felt like she was sharing a little in those memories. He didn't share a lot of information, but it was the fantasy of exploring the world and the skills necessary to defeat Trainers who lived for the experience of battle. "That sounds like so much fun." She admitted, redness touching her cheeks at the thought of changing her mind. Battles still weren't appealing, but this idea of achieving better skill and understanding with Pokemon being possible through battles made it far more realistic. "I could do that. I think. Cherry will help me." She added, looking down at her Cyndaquil and rubbing underneath his chin. "And you'll teach me what I need to do!" She declared, smiling at Julian. He probably wouldn't tell her how to just take the leaders out, but that was fine. As long as she could get that extra push to try again when she--inevitably--failed. They heard the buzzing of small wings; all except for Julian naturally. Noctowl, Umbreon, and Espeon all looked around themselves, but it was Noctowl who spotted the source first. He relayed the message to his Trainer, who instantly turned to spot the Ledyba coming in for a landing on a nearby bush. Julian smiled, the lady-bug was always a rather adorable Pokemon in his opinion, and he'd always wanted one. He sent out Torkoal, and random Trainers and other Citizens began gathering to watch the battle take place between the native bug and a Fire-Type they weren't familiar with. A battle was always a treat, and this would prove as both entertainment for the locals and a learning opportunity for other Trainers. Steam escaped from Torkoal's nose as well as the apex of his shell, and then a brightly burning Ember attack lit up the bush as well as the bug.
Julian tossed out a Pokeball and successfully saved the bug from the fire, which had suddenly engulfed the bush. Julian's eyes widened in shock, and he hastily fumbled for the Pokeballs on his belt. Two of them fell to the ground and rolled away. Torkoal looked at Julian expectantly, knowing he couldn't put out the fire himself. The Trainer knew that what he needed was a Water-Type Pokemon, and let out a huge sigh of relief when he let out the right Pokemon - Mantine. He shot multiple water-based bubbles that put the fire out. Julian recalled Mantine with a word of thanks, then rushed over to collect the Pokeball he'd thrown earlier. He polished it on his jacket, then returned to Liz's side. "I... I want you to have this." He smiled nervously. Looking around, he realized most of the others were laughing at him. He couldn't tell if it was because he'd made a fool of himself by setting the bush on fire, or by his display of affection. He lowered his arm again, suddenly blushing from shame. TL;DR

Elizabeth Morgan Liz couldn't help but let her smile widen at Julian's support of her claim that he would help. It was something she hadn't expected him to go with that. He was willing to follow after a newbie trainer when his own journey clearly hadn't reached its own resolution. It made her wonder why he wasn't going to face the next Gym yet. She thought maybe he just knew it wasn't something he could finish right now. It made her admire his ability more, to know when he needed to stop and do some more training, or just to take a break. Her romance of Julian's break was more generous than why he was really here. Liz thought more about how she intended to approach her first Gym Challenge while idly petting Cherry. How would she know what to do first? Was there a specific way to beat the Gym Leader? Could she do it with Cherry? Or did Belle have to fight too? Did Rin?
Thinking made it hard to focus, so she let a Ledyba fly right past her without panicking right away. When Torkoal came out, she jumped in shock and yelped at the sight of Ledyba. Yes, it was a cute Pokemon, but it was still a Bug Type. And Bug Pokemon were not good for crops. She staggered back behind Julian and Torkoal even as Cherry struggled to look past the boy's head and watch Torkoal blast Ledyba with Ember. She watched the damage unfold and backed away when Julian lost his Pokeballs. One of them bumped her foot and she offered it back to Julian once Mantine was free to put out the fire. "That was some quick thinking." She remarked with a nod. "I don't know what I'm going to do if Cherry ever lights something on fire." That was a very good point she would have to consider now. Cherry could get dangerous as he got stronger. Not in a bad way, just a hazard she would have to account for. Although, maybe her new Pokemon could help her solve that problem when it got stronger too...
Liz's cheeks flushed scarlet, nearly matching her hair, when he offered the new Pokeball and took back the one he had lost. There was the small problem that Liz was not fond of Bug Pokemon, but that did not take away from the meaning of the gesture the boy made. "R-r-really? But...I didn't catch it." She stammered, struggling with the generosity she was getting. Who cared if it was a Bug. This was not a normal thing for trainers to do! ...Was it? She would have got upset with the laughing group, but Julian had left her speechless. She missed her chance to just take the gift when the jeering got to him, but she still shared her gratitude all the same. Cherry did not appreciate the decision, being squashed between his trainer and her friend when she hugged him with her free arm. She had even teared up from the overwhelming emotion of being offered a Pokemon for no reason. "Thank you. So very, very much." She whispered against his shoulder, grinning like a fool. What could she reasonably expect to do as thanks for this? Julian was too distracted to comfort her, but as long as he was there then he wouldn't let Cherry's lighting something on fire go too far. He always has at least one Water-Type Pokemon on his team, and that would be enough to extinguish any unwanted flames. He was anxious to get out of there after embarrassing himself in front of everyone else. He lead her back down the road and into the Pokemon Center once more. Slumping into the chair, he struggled to calm himself and keep his breathing steady. He avoided her gaze for what seemed like ages as they spoke back and forth. Wordlessly, he handed over the Pokeball containing the freshly captured Ledyba with a nervous smile. Why was he feeling like this all-of-the-sudden? It was hard for him to think straight around her.

Elizabeth Morgan Going back to the Pokemon Center, Liz sat beside Julian with a new appreciation for the friend she had made. The conversation was a distraction for her, feeling a bit embarrassed over her reaction to being given Ledyba. When he passed the Pokeball to her, she took it immediately and stroked the ball briefly. Cherry, like with previous captures, sniffed at the Pokeball and nudged it with his nose. She was looking at Ledyba's Pokeball when it occurred to the redhead that she didn't actually care for Bug Type Pokemon. She really thought about it and had to wonder what she would do with her new Ledyba. She couldn't bear to tell Julian he had chosen to give her something that bothered her, but she also couldn't figure out what she could do about it. She'd have to train it, obviously. She would have to come up with a name for it later, too. Well, she didn't have to...She was going to consider the idea long and hard either way. It made her worry that Julian might figure out something was wrong if she didn't name his--err, her--Ledyba. "So this will help me beat the Gym Leader?" She asked finally after an awkward silence had fallen between the two. That felt wrong to say after all that worrying, but she was also curious why he had decided to catch a Pokemon just to give away. Instead of questioning further, Liz only smiled as she determined she would try and succeed that way. "I'll do my best, then! We'll do it!" She added as she clenched the ball tighter in her hand. She was already trying to think of how she could beat Falkner without knowing for sure what Violet City's Gym used or how badly it would hurt Ledyba if Falkner used the right moves. She would get a pretty rude awakening. Assuming Julian didn't educate her on the reason Bounsweet and Ledyba were terrible ideas to send against Falkner's Team. Birds would make short work of a berry and a ladybug. She was still unsure of what she was going to do to win.
She finally tucked Ledyba's ball away as a thought occurred to her, producing Dex from her shorts pocket and flipping it open. Ledyba's entry, Bounsweet's--and a few others of Pokemon she had observed--flickered along to update her on what she was interacting with currently. Cyndaquil's entry was selected as soon as she could choose. She was delighted to discover that Cherry had apparently learned a new move. Had beating Sentret really done that much for him? "What does 'Smokescreen' do? Is it a good move?" She inquired, leaning closer to Julian to show him her Pokedex. Cherry had gained some Experience according to the device and Smokescreen came up even though Cherry hadn't so much as burped a wisp since Julian had met him. There were small icons alerting Liz that Rin and Belle had similar changes in their data, but she was trying to focus on one entry at a time. If Julian chose to examine the other Pokemon entries, Liz would let him handle her Pokedex however he needed to do so. She needed help, after all. He surely knew what to do and how to get to it. He would also be able to easily find how to read the nature of each move in case he didn't recognize any of them. Tabs that were clearly marked and easy for Liz to find on her own. She didn't want to get lost in trying to study for her Gym Challenge. She was making a reason to keep talking to Julian without being completely obvious. Julian looked up once more, pulled from his own embarrassment by her questions. "Oh? Err.. it won't exactly help you against Falkner... actually, his Pokemon have the type advantage against half of your team..." He admitted to her. "I just always thought Ledyba were... cute, I guess. I wanted you to have one." As long as she was willing to try, he believed she could accomplish what she sets her mind out to do. Would that be enough, though? Hell, he thought that would be enough for him, but he'd been flattened by the seventh Gym Leader.
Then, she changed the topic. Apparently Cherry had gained enough experience to learn a new move. "When you gain enough experience through battling, your Pokemon advances what's called 'a level'. Certain Pokemon learn moves or evolve at a certain levels of experience." Teaching her how it works wasn't enough though, she wanted to know about this specific move. "When Cherry uses Smokescreen, it's going to spread a thick smoke around your enemy, making it hard for them to see. When it's hard for the enemy to see, it's hard for the enemy to hit Cherry." That was about as well as he could describe it. "You have to work with Cherry and practice new moves before you can use them properly, he won't just master it on his own."

Elizabeth Morgan Liz was admittedly disappointed to hear that her new Pokemon was not something helpful, but that couldn't stop her from loving Ledyba all the same. It could become something more as long as she put the work in to make it so. That felt like a more important lesson than just learning what it took to beat Falkner. It only made her wonder further what else she could do for the upcoming encounter. "That sounds great. They can't hurt Cherry if they can't find him." She yawned as she spoke, making the exclamation sound much less convincing. And Growl, she learned, was a move that protected her Pokemon from harm further still by making the opponent hesitant and do less damage. Just thinking about these moves made her yawn once more, louder and longer llike she was trying to make everyone take a hint and go to bed. "I'm getting sleepy. I guess I shouldn't keep bugging you when we're tired. See you in the morning?" She teased. Liz was sure Julian wouldn't simply vanish into the night. The question was still valid. He could have something come up and go ahead of her to Violet City. Either way, bed was calling and Joy had been so kind as to set the pair up with a room in the event they stayed in Cherrygrove for the night. It was like the woman had known Liz wouldn't wander off before it got dark.
Liz went into the rooms and got changed for bed, crawling into one before tucking Cherry in with her so they were sharing her pillow. "Today was a good day, Cherry. You were so brave." Liz stated with a sincere smile and a pat on the Cyndaquil's head. New friends and Cherry managed to learn some new things too. It had definitely been a great day. The next morning, Julian was woken up by Umbreon nuzzling his hand. "Hmm?" He forced his eyes open, looking blankly around the room. Finally he realized what had attracted Umbreon's attention. Nurse Joy had left a cart by the door with his food on top, and Pokemon food in bowls on the shelves of the cart. He pushed himself off of the bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Shirt-less and still dressed in his pajama bottoms, he dished out the bowls and everyone ate happily. Only once everyone else had eaten did he finally sit down and eat his own breakfast. -Backpack-
