One by one at her power the trainers and their Pokemon were defeated, but what he didn’t know was Verasi’s typing was actually playing a part in her advantage over the gym. As far as he was concerned, and all he knew was that she was a fire breather with a capability for flight, he wasn’t aware that she was a dark type Pokemon, the natural aversion for psychic types, but that was neither here nor there. He was impressed and proud all the same, and when the last Pokemon fell, Verasi moved back to Finn almost in a sort of trot with a purr and a glint in her pink eyes, equally as proud of herself as she held her head high beside him. He patted the side of her neck as he looked back behind him, motioning for Vitus to step forward as the field shifted slightly in energy, the two leaders coming out to face their challenger.
”It is strange, we weren’t expecting any challengers today,” Liza spoke as she and her brother took the other side of the field, her tone was still gentle and friendly, there was nothing derogatory to her disposition.
”Not even when you arrived on the shores of the island were we able to sense that we would need to prepare for a guest,” Tate spoke in time with his sister, and it seemed that they were just ever so slightly perplexed at the notion that Finn had somehow evaded their mind’s eye.
”Aye, that is strange…,” Finn agreed, with little more to say, though he felt himself grow a bit cold at the notion that it was because of his state of being, or really lack thereof.
”You say that your fate isn’t always predictable. That seems to be true, how interesting,” Liza replied after a moment, and she looked as though she were studying Finn across the field, really looking at him for a moment.
”If you’ll be inclined, I’ll like to take my chance in a battle,” Finn swallowed after another moment, wanting to draw the focus off of himself and his state of being. He didn’t need anything about his life to be made public, that was still always one of his biggest concerns. The two leaders blinked at his words, coming out of a sort of focus before smiling again in unison.
”Of course, we’re always happy to have a challenger,” Tate responded, and in time with his words a Lunatone and a Solrock appeared in front of their respective leaders, ready to begin the battle.

Sanctioning their battle as a double battle to really test those that come to their facility, knowing that one needed to have the foresight to understand if their Pokemon were going to be able to work together in a battle setting, it was all very well done and truly a good challenge to pursue. However, credit given, Finn knew that his Pokemon, his crew, had more tenacity and more salt on their bones that there wasn’t a likely chance of defeat. Especially with some of their most recent endeavors, there was nothing supernatural or otherwise that he felt his Pokemon couldn’t handle. And so it was, the twins had their last set of Pokemon fall, and Finn was the victor of their challenge.
”How interesting. Your Pokemon are very different from each other, and yet, they have a very strong sense of teamwork,” Liza spoke first, the dim lighting had come up just a little bit as the two moved forward in unison.
”You’ve earned our badge, it was unprecedented, but a good battle nonetheless,” Tate commented, holding out the badge for Finn to take as the pirate had approached in kind after returning his few Pokemon.
”Thank you for the opportunity, and apologies for the lack of preparation you might have had. I’m not sure what might have hindered that,” Finn said with as much genuine thanks as he could, but he was really very ready to get out of the gym and leave the psychic leaders to their own devices, he could tell that they were becoming more aware of more things than he was probably aware of with just being in their presence, and he didn’t want anything of his past or otherwise to become apparent. He had turned to leave after graciously accepting his badge in victory, but he could just feel them staring at him as he walked off.
”Fate is a curious thing. Be cautious, your is awfully cloudy,” Liza spoke in a final send off to her opponent, and while he could tell there was concern in her tone, Finn felt himself grow cold as he left their facility, knowing how precarious the concept of one’s fate could be. He didn’t need someone to tell him. Finn knew that it was going to be some time before he had a real kindling with the old anchor, but Finn couldn’t deny that it was fascinating meeting an individual who was actually alive during the days of his most favored history subjects. He had only met one other such individual, a long time friend that he wondered about here and there, but like Ishani and many of the other Pokemon that he met on his worldly travels, he never wanted to pressure the Aegislash to accompany him if it wasn’t meant to be. Finn regaled Groves with some of the details of the modern world while they traveled, most specifically what it was that they were traveling to Mossdeep City for, spending quite a bit of time explaining the idea of Pokemon partners, or Finn’s case, a crew, and what it meant to train and battle alongside each other. Of course it was a foreign concept to the ghost, it had been two hundred years that he spent beneath the ocean’s surface, and before that he had been imprisoned by a human and lost to the world, so he was out of touch with a great many things. However, it was with intrigue though that Groves wanted to see this new world and begin to experience things in the outside that he never thought he would get to see again. It was with a heavy heart that Finn had to watch Groves take too hard a hit during their battle with Liza and Tate, knocked out and unable to continue to battle, but Finn couldn’t deny that the ghost had the right tenacity and the right strength in order to be a right proper teammate, all it would take was just a little bit of training he was certain. The Dhelmise was intelligent, a quick learner, and Finn could tell that easily, he had a feeling that it wouldn’t take very long for him to be able to hold his own in a battle. And so it was, on the beaches of Mossdeep, knowing that Groves had an interest in challenging one of the strongest leaders in the region, a sort of pride in the idea of taking siege over a human’s hard work and proving himself a formidable victor, Finn set out with the anchor after getting him taken care of at the Pokemon Center and found a few trainers that were hard at work with their Pokemon, willing to have a battle for the sport of it. Challenging the last leader of the region, gaining that eighth gym badge was on his docket, and Finn intended to make the trip out to the island of Sootopolis. He knew though, despite deluding himself to the fact, that gaining this eighth badge wasn’t going to give him the answers or the solidarity that he was searching for, but he hoped that maybe, just maybe, he would feel just a little less empty, and that this completion of a goal would at least give him some solid ground, if only for a little bit.
Out on the open ocean of the Hoenn Region, with Vitus beneath him as Finn rode atop his shell, the two made easy work of moving across the ocean waves in their day of traveling in order to move to Sootopolis City. Finn had been to the great city before a handful of times, having always found it’s origins fascinating in being formed by a meteorite that struck a barren rocky island, but this trip to the island was different since he was going to be arriving as a challenger for the gym there. Along their way through the open ocean, Finn was surprised to encounter an old friend of theirs, a long time presence in Finn’s travels as she herself was well traveled and never did stay in any one place for too long. Swann was an Aegislash that was far beyond her years in wisdom and the lifetimes that she had spanned. She lived a vast life of adventure and gripping tales long ago when Piracy was at its peak, but her soul was far from done with the world of the living and was not yet ready to leave this plane of existence. There were only so many things that Finn knew of the Aegislash and her living life, it was easy to tell that she was far more than just a female pirate back in her days with a drive to stay around the living, but Finn was never one to pry. However, it seemed that this time the two of them had not met for some time, and while Finn didn’t share the details of his untimely demise, he did make mention of his fantastical travels of a Pokemon Trainer and how he was getting ready to head off against the final gym leader of the region. Swann was interested in Finn’s endeavors, but too could tell that there were things Finn wasn’t letting on about, and she felt that it was time for them to travel together as partners, for a little bit or longer, she wasn’t sure. But that day she did allow Finn to give her a Pokeball of her own as they headed off towards Sootopolis City, and Finn felt even more confident then that he would be able to earn that final gym badge for himself and his crew. She'd never even thought of outer space as a place to venture to before, but as long as there were no Pokemon Centers up there, requiring her to visit for a stamp, then she wasn't too bothered by the idea. She landed in the sand, deciding to walk up the beach and through the City rather than just land outside the Pokemon Center as she usually did. Lucy and Salamence went off to find the next City, as the Lilycove's Nurse Joy had warned Kira about just how difficult Sootopolis could be to locate. Kira could follow their link and eventually catch up.
She strolled into the Pokemon Center while Charizard waited outside. The Nurse Joy of Mossdeep was wearing an outfit fitting for the tropical climate of eastern Hoenn. Now that she thought about it, looking around at all the Trainers here, most people were. She looked out of place in her jeans and shirt, so she decided to change while the Nurse stamped her book. When she returned wearing shorts and a lighter top, the Nurse had her ready to go with her book and a snack for the road.

Elfana Aroway One would think Elfana would have latched on to the idea of a space center upon arriving in Mossdeep but instead she found something far simpler to occupy her time in the city. Wailmer watching. She never would have considered it had she not found a boat about to set out soon after arriving in the city. Her time on the previous boat had been spent working on her new pet project. She could spare a few hours actually appreciating the ocean and the Water Types that resided in it instead of rushing on through the city so she could continue working. The doctor was trying to balance work and things that would typically be considered fun. She ended up thoroughly enjoying her Wailmer watching experience. Her team, save for Anty, had been let out on the boat. She felt it would be an excellent bonding activity for them. Once they were back in an area that didn't require constant boat ride she would find something she could do with her Steelix too. After returning to Mossdeep she went straight to the Pokemon Center, where she went through the usual process of collecting her stamp and leaving immediately after. She had another boat to catch. Emiri and her Pokemon moved to the Pokemon Center in the middle of the city, and gained her stamp from Nurse Joy there, and then without much more delay, she and her Pokemon moved north towards Marcellus’ home. She could see his bountiful flower gardens, and the lake that many of his water type Pokemon called home, and many more of his Pokemon meandering about the property. One by one her Pokemon came down from the air to land, and while Emiri couldn’t outright feel Marcellus’ presence there, she smiled warmly at being greeted by Macon who came out from the front doors of the house. The Lucario and Hera the Chansey were such wonderful caretakers, and Hera even immediately hoped into making food for their guests, and Emiri moved to let her Pokemon relax for a time. It turned out that Marcellus was out traveling, and hadn’t been back for some time, but that was to be expected. Emiri hadn’t traveled home in a while now, so it was reasonable that Marcellus hadn’t been home in a time. It was nice to visit Marcellus’ home and the Pokemon that took care of the property, and before too much longer Emiri was off with her Pokemon to visit their final location for the Hoenn Region.
