"City of Energy."
Tucked away in a valley of sorts, surrounded entirely by mountain and cliffs and rocky pathways, Oreburgh City can be found deep within the mountains that make up much of central Sinnoh. Orebugh City is a very prosperous mining town that has been gifted with an abundance of significant natural resources that come from the mines that took root here. The famed Oreburgh Mine is the entire livelihood of the town where the main hub of all activity takes place, as well as the town's main energy source. Spanning on for miles and miles beneath the surface of the city are tunnels and caves that have been constructed for the mining project where all over the city there are air vents that come all the way from the tunnels below to provide fresh air to the workers. This mine, despite what most would think, does not just provide many resources and exports for the region, but the project itself takes great care in the habitats and wild Pokemon that live in the area, where some of the Pokemon even take care in keeping the mines and tunnels ever safer for those who work below in return. Another main attraction for Oreburgh City is the Mining Museum that takes great pride in showcasing the town's proud history and educating visitors on what it is to be a miner.
{ Oreburge City Gym (Click)} Roark is the official Gym Leader of Oreburgh City's Gym. He hands out the Coal Badge to Trainers who defeat him, and he specializes in Rock-type Pokémon. He is Byron's son and the grandson of the Underground Man. Roark, as the Oreburgh Mine's safety supervisor, and he lets the Trainers of Oreburgh train in the mines. Despite his young age, he keeps the mine running safely and efficiently. If he loses, he feels embarrassed that his Cranidos lost to a Trainer without any Badges and cautions the trainer that the following leaders are a lot tougher. When he isn't in his gym, he can often be found in the Underground, welcoming the trainers on their visit there, and explaining while also showing them the safe paths through it, and sometimes even helping those into the massive underground cavern. As a child, Roark spent a significant amount of time playing on Iron Island. Roark's Gym fits very well into the city's mine aesthetic, so much so it's not even visible above ground. Roark's Gym is actually built into the mine that he works in, having a massive cavern carved into an abandoned and cleared area of the mine. That way he never really has to leave his work to battle. His gym sits a little ways into the mines, forcing the challengers to navigate there way through zig zags, and forks in the massive mine shaft systems. Though if they're lucky enough, they may run into miners that'll point them in the right direction. After navigating the mines, and locating the actual Gym within, the mine shafts will open up into a massive cavern, were the rocky walls reach up high into a rounded roof. The ground noticeably flattens out all across the large area, creating a rather neutral playing field. The walls and floors are covered in dents, and cracks from the many battles that were held there. The battlers stand level with the battle field, and there are a small set of benches on the side for those wanting to watch a battle, though usually only miners ever make it in time for the battles. { Gym Trainer (Click)} Darius Geodude Lv. 10 HP 70 Female Ability: Sturdy- This Pokemon will be left with 1 HP when taking enough damage for a one hit knock out Tackle- 20 | This attack makes physical contactDefense Curl- Raises user's defense by one stage Rollout- Increases for five turns (10, 20, 40, 60, 100) | Damage doubled if target used Defense Curl before Rollout. Julian Malcolm Carry on my Wayward Son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more What Misty told him gave him an idea. She had warned him to get in some training before battling someone named Surge. Well, what was to stop him from traveling around to the first Gym of every Region and battling them with his ragtag group of young Pokemon? He left the Gym and did some research while his Pokemon were being healed in the Pokemon Center. What he found out was that two Regions were about the same distance from Kanto, but that he would have to choose one of them if he didn't want to spend days flying over open ocean. Already he was looking at a long flight - the sort of flight most people took planes or boats for. He studied maps very closely so that when flying with Pidgeot, he would be able to guide his Pokemon to not only the right Region but the right City. Finally his Pokemon were healed and he got Pidgeot from the storage system. The giant bird was perfect for long distance journey, and he even had the foresight to 'borrow' some gloves from Nurse Joy. Sure they were pink but they would keep his hands warm out at sea!
The flight was long, and Julian did not rest before they set off, so when he finally landed in Oreburgh City he was ready for a hot bath and a warm bed. The Pokemon Center was maybe thirty feet away from him but he'd mistakenly landed next to a sleeping Onix. It was a mountainous sort of town so he hadn't even realized what it was, despite having just battled one in Pewter. They blended into certain environments surprisingly well. Pidgeot's gusting wings disturbed it's sleep and Julian felt Pidgeot jump in surprise as the creature groaned and roared it's displeasure at having been woken. Pidgeot turned to face the Onix and Julian took the cue to look in that direction as well. If needed, Pidgeot would fly above the reach of the Onix. Julian wasn't in the mood though. He sent out Kabuto and let the crab-like insect lose itself among the bulk of Onix, find a plase to latch on, and sap literally every ounce of strength the Pokemon had. Really Kabuto was a useful little Pokemon.
He returned both Pokemon, let out Umbreon and Espeon, and walked into the Pokemon Center. God, the food waiting for him inside was probably the best he'd ever had. Of course anything might have been the best he'd ever had with him being this dang hungry. After his meal, he found the showers and made use of them. Then when he finally hit the bed, it was as if someone flipped a switch. He was out the moment his head hit the pillow. Umbreon and Espeon played for a while, but eventually jumped up onto the end of his bed and got comfortable so they could go to sleep as well. TL;DR Kabuto used Absorb (-80, 0/50) Onix has fainted! Julian Malcolm Carry on my Wayward Son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more
It was the next day when Julian woke up and left the Pokemon Center for the City beyond. The Onix from the previous night had either regained enough strength to move or had captured by a Miner for it's use in the mines (though Julian did not know much about this). He looked around for a few hours - window shopping, eating lunch from his bag, and most importantly searching for the Gym Leader he was to face next. He seemed to be having trouble finding it though. Finally he was forced to jot down a little note and hand it to someone who looked familiar with the City. He read the brief note and nodded in understanding. "In the mines." He said, and pointed him in the right direction. Mines? Had he said mines? Julian didn't care for the idea of mines. Cave-ins were common in mines and he had very recently made it out of a cave-in. He hoped he wouldn't have to repeat the experience.
The Mines were right where the guy had said they would be, the dark tunnel stretched on before him as though it were the mouth of a hungry beast. Julian let out a sigh and braced himself before walking in. Honestly it was dark, but he could see that in the distance there were lights hung up on the walls so the Miners could see. He used them - and Umbreon's glow - as a guide. He walked deeper and deeper into the unknown, taking twists and turns at random to avoid standing in one place for hours with indecision, unsure which path to take. Finally he found another person! He was working, chipping away at the wall of the tunnel with a pick. Julian walked over to him, but he only smiled when Julian tapped him on the shoulder. "If you want to know the right way, you have to battle me for it."
Very well. Julian had been expecting something like that, so he nodded. The guy said something, looking at the ground to his left, and a boulder unfurled itself. A Geodude who had been disguising itself now looked at Julian. Okay, so Geodude's were weak against Water- and Grass-Type Pokemon. He had a couple of those... after a moment's thought, he sent out Kabuto again. The small creature scuttled around the cave until Geodude picked up a large stone and rolled it right into Kabuto. Kabuto lunged like a face-hugger and clung onto Geodude to start absorbing back the health it had lost in the last attack. Geodude picked up another stone - even with Kabuto right over her face - and began to smash the stone against Kabuto's outer shell. Kabuto was absorbing health as fast as he was losing it, but without warning sprang away from Geodude's face just in time to avoid the stone; which Geodude now slammed right into her own face, knocking herself out.
The guy returned his Pokemon and pointed down the right tunnel for Julian to follow. TL;DR Geodude used Rollout (-10, 60/70) Kabuto uses Absorb (-80, 10/70) Kabuto recovered health (+30, 70/70) Geodude used Rollout (-20, 50/70) Kabuto used Absorb (-80, 0/70) Geodude has fainted! Julian Malcolm Carry on my Wayward Son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more
The mine system seemed to go on forever, even though he had barely gone into it at all. He wondered exactly how deep this went. Perhaps he would ask the Gym Leader when he finally found the guy. He finally found where he was supposed to be when the tunnel opened up into a cavern. He looked over the battlefield - which wasn't as dramatic as Brock's had been. Even if this one was actually in a mine shaft, it was less obvious when standing on his side of the field. Just then the Gym Leader emerged from the other side of the cavern, brushing dust from his outfit and standing opposite him. As always, he went through his little 'spheal' of explaining the rules and then he sent his first Pokemon out. Julian was only half surprised to see an Onix. They seemed to be common around here, but if Onix was only this guy's first choice then what else was he hiding up his sleeve?
Julian sent Kabuto out, his fossil had proven useful against the Geodude and Onix. He was confident it would be able to stand up to the test of a second Onix. It crawled over to Onix, who raised it's tail and slammed it down on top of the bug. When it raised it's tail again, it peered down to observe the smashed creature... but it wasn't there. He began to swing his heavy head around wildly, searching for the threat that had literally vanished into thin air. "Onix, on your head!" The Gym Leader called, but it was too late. Kabuto sapped all of Onix's strength so quickly that it couldn't even try throwing Kabuto before falling over, unconscious and snoring. Kabuto quickly went back to Julian, who returned the Pokemon. He had done such a great job beating that giant Onix that he earned a nice rest.
The Gym Leader sent out a Craniados next. Julian did not know it, but this was a fossil as well. Surely the Gym Leader had something witty to say, but Julian was watching the Craniados rather than it's Trainer. He sent out Bulbasaur, who did not wait to send vines out to strike and slash through the air at her enemy. It was fast though, able to avoid most of them to find an opening. It charged, lowering it's head and slamming the hardened dome on top of it's head into Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur let out a cry of pain. She tried to get back up but her legs were shaking and gave out again. Julian had no choice but to recall the Bulbasaur.
Craniados planted one of it's feet, and slid the other one back to kick up dust like a bull waiting to charge again. In fact, when Julian sent out his next Pokemon, it hadn't even finished materializing in before the fossil was running right for it's newest enemy. Mantine appeared and instantly got rammed into. She looked indignantly and painfully at the attacker and then rose her head up. Water began to form around her mouth and when she brought her head down to the ground a massive wave erupted and swept over Craniados, washing it back to it's Trainer. It wasn't able to get up either, and the battle had been won by Julian and his team. TL;DR Onix (110/110) vs Kabuto (70/70) Round 1 Onix used Rock Tomb (-50, 20/70) Kabuto used Absorb (-80, 30/110) Kabuto recovered health (+40, 60/70) Round 2 Onix used Rock Tomb (-50, 10/70) Kabuto used Absorb (-80, 0/110) Kabuto recovered health (+15, 25/70) Onix has fainted!

gravity_resistantLeader RoarkRoark returned his cranidos after his defeat. Roark was less then pleased at his loss, but he wasn't angry. He waited a moment for the flooded cave floor to drain out, luckily they had planned ahead just in case. Still soaked from the waist down, Roark began across the field and towards his opponent and the mantine. Roark and his Pokemon were a tough competitor really, and if he ever did lose, he wasn't happy about it. He was almost embarrassed that he lost, but the challenger battled well. The bulbasaur aside, he hadn't seen a Mantine or kabuto in a gym battle lately, so it make things interesting for him. "Well... I did lose..." He spoke, adjusting his hard hat. "Your Pokemon battled well, and they seem to know what they're doing." He told the silent opponent. "You earned this." He told the male, holding out his badge. He thought for a moment before speaking again. "You know, seeing your Kabuto, if you ever make it into the Undergound, I would be happy to show you around it one day." He offered to the male.Julian has received: +21 exp split amongst Bulbasaur, Mantine, Kabuto Coal Badge TM 69 Rock Polish Bonus: +20 exp to each party Pokemon x3 hold/form change items of your choice (Excluding Mega Stones and Z Crystals)

Elfana Aroway The Pokemon Center was a welcome sight after her time in Oreburgh Gate. Taking care of her Pokemon on her own was preferable to dealing with the far too peppy nurses but she was willing to deal with them if it put her Alakazam's mind at ease. Spending a few minutes in the Pokemon Center would also give her some time to figure out what to do with the Psyduck. He was, unfortunately, her responsibility. As much as she would have liked to leave him in the storage system and forget he existed, she couldn't bring herself to do it. Pantalaimon had already bonded with it too- which wasn't helping at all. As soon as she set her Turtwig and Pokeballs down on the counter, he had picked out the Psyduck's Pokeball and had started talking to it. That was his friend. She sighed, glancing over at the counter while she cleaned the cut on her forehead. Maybe it would end up being more useful than she thought it would be. She traced the cut with her finger after it was cleaned. The wound wasn't deep enough to require stitches fortunately. She would be able to cover it with a small bandage and her bangs would hide it from there. That was one problem solved. She sat back in her seat, fidgeting with her dress until she was called up to retrieve her Pokemon. Her excited Turtwig leaped off of the counter and into her arms as soon as he saw her. She was gone for a long time. He thought he would be away from her forever- though Kiro had tried to convince him he was incorrect. He didn't want to listen until he was back in the doctor's arms. The Croagunk gathered her Pokeballs for her since her hands were currently full and gestured for her to crouch. Once she did he stored the Pokeballs for her. She rubbed his head and smiled softly. "Thank you." When she stood again she was greeted by the nurse. Her expression went cold as the nurse went through the usual dialogue about enjoying her stay and whatever else she had to say to meet whatever costumer service requirements her employers had set. Elfana refused to believe anyone was naturally as kind as the nurses often were. They were forced to act that way. Pantalaimon waved his foot at the nurse while Elfana looked utterly indifferent. "Thank you for your assistance." She replied before turning to leave. She may not have liked the nurses but it would have been rude to not at least thank her for taking care of her Pokemon.
Pantalaimon wriggled around in her arms while he looked around their immediate area. "This place is so cool!" He squealed, trying to take in as much of the scenery as he could. Elfana tightened her grip on him slightly in order to avoid dropping him. She wished he would would have waited until after she had looked up directions to the museum to start wriggling. "We'll turn in the fossil and then we will head to the Gym." The entire process shouldn't take too long. They would get their first badge before the day was out if they stuck to their schedule. Even with the delay in the cave she had still made it to the city in a reasonable time. Leaving early in the morning had been a good call. When she is close to the museum she stops to take the fossil out of her bag. If she gets it out now then she can avoid the minute or so of awkward silence that she would surely have to deal with if she waited until she was in the museum. This plan, unfortunately, backfired when a passing Trainer happened to notice her fossil. She could forgive the strange glasses that somehow obscured his eyes, the unkempt long hair, and the generally creepy demeanor- but she could not forgive the invasion of her personal bubble. "Do you know what that is? That's a Skull Fossil! Where did you find something like that?" He rambled on about the fossil but she didn't pay attention to the majority of it. This person was way too close to her. Each time she tried to step away from him, he would follow to point out something else about the fossil. The limit to her patience was finally reached when he started to get pushy and requesting she give him the fossil. Her lack of a response had been taken as disinterest- which wasn't wrong- and incompetence- which irritated her to no end. "Back off!" She snapped as she tried once more to get away from him, this time with significantly more success thanks to her Croagunk. When he tried following her again, he was met with a mess of slime and unpleasantness spat at his face by the protective Poison Type.
Elfana wasn't sure how she had wanted her first battle with another Trainer to go but this definitely wasn't it. She cradled her fossil and Pantalaimon against her chest, watching the man with a bored expression while he hurled insults at her and her Croagunk. The next thing she knew, she was being stared down by his Aron. She clicked her tongue and sighed. "Okay. This is happening. Kiro, go ahead." She nodded to her Croagunk. He hopped out in front of her, much to the amusement of the other Trainer. "A Poison Type against a Steel Type? Really?" His tone said it all. Elfana shrugged and let him continue to talk. Kiro would shut him up soon enough. Several rocks were thrown at the Croagunk, leaving him with a few bruises but only mildly inconveniencing him as he had to dodge them to get within striking distance of the Aron. He kicked up a bit of mud from the ground, partially blinding the Aron with it when his foot collided with its mask. The Steel Type stumbled a bit but still managed to land one last attack on the Croagunk, smashing its head into him before being knocked back by a quick jab from Kiro. The Aron fell, its face coated in mud. Elfana was correct. The other Trainer had gone silent. He appeared to be struggling to process that his Aron had just been beaten by a Croagunk. Elfana took advantage of the silence and continued on her way down the road. "The Pokemon Center is about a five minute walk south from here." She called back to him after a moment. It wasn't the Aron's fault that its Trainer was obnoxious. His reply was cut off by another face full of gunk thanks to Kiro. The Croagunk had hung back specifically to make sure his Trainer wouldn't be followed. He hopped after her after croaking at him, leaving the Trainer cursing his existence. "That was unpleasant." Elfana commented when Kiro joined her. She really hoped any trainers she encountered in the future weren't that ridiculous.

Elfana Aroway Her trip to the museum was...not what she had expected. She had tried to offer the fossil to one of the museum workers but upon showing it to them she was escorted to a different section of the museum. This was weird but she assumed that maybe they wanted to ask her questions about where she had found it. That sounded reasonable enough to her. She would answer their questions and then she would be on her way. Instead of being questioned, Elfana found herself sitting quietly with her Pokemon, waiting for...whoever she was supposed to be talking to. The worker had taken the fossil and had left her alone after. Pantalaimon wandered through the exhibits with Walter, staring up at the Alakazam with eyes filled with wonder as he read the different plaques in front of each display to him. While they were busy exploring, Elfana kept herself occupied by spraying down Kiro's injuries from his battle with the Aron with some of the Potions she had with her. The Croagunk let out a content croak when she let him sit in her lap and relax. He had done well in his battle and deserved a chance to rest. Her arms weren't full of Turtwig and he was going to take advantage of that while he could. Kiro wasn't an overly affectionate Pokemon but he could still appreciate being the center of attention sometimes. Pantalaimon and Walter had rejoined them by the time the worker reappeared with...the fossil? Elfana stared at the odd Pokemon the worker had returned with. He stared right back at her. "...What?" This Pokemon was not part of her plan. Without warning he let out a loud cry and charged at her. She had just enough time to hug Kiro protectively and close her eyes before she felt something attach itself to her leg. She wasn't being tackled. Elfana was being hugged. She opened her eyes and looked down at the Fossil Pokemon that had attached itself to her. His entire body wiggled when he attempted to wag his tail. She opened her mouth to comment but nothing came out. There was nothing she could say about this. She was being cuddled by a fossil. The next few minutes were spent listening to the worker explain the process of reviving Pokemon from fossils. The Cranidos that was attempting to fuse with her leg had come from the fossil she had brought to the museum.
Technically she had done what she had planned. She had delivered the fossil to the museum. Elfana walked out of the museum with the Cranidos following along right beside her. He was hers now. She wasn't entirely sure how she felt about that but he seemed happy. "So...you're a Cranidos." The Cranidos bumped his head against her in response. She assumed she was going to need to get used to friendly nudges from the Rock Type. She watched as the fossil and her Turtwig ran on ahead, playfully chasing each other as they went. "I don't know why I even bothered trying to make a plan anyway." She muttered as she followed along behind them. At least he was cute. "Cranberry! Pantalaimon! Stay close!" She called to them. The Cranidos paused the game long enough to growl happily. He had a name! The game of chase resumed with Cranberry roaring excitedly and running after the Turtwig. She didn't bother to try to call them back again. So long as she could see them she didn't think she needed to worry.Partners: Out of their Pokeballs: Walter (Male Alakazam), Pantalaimon (Male Turtwig), Kiro (Male Croagunk), Cranberry (Male Cranidos) Wearing: dress, hairstyle, shoes Trainer Encounter: 2/25 Wild Encounter: 7/5 Item Posting: Grepa Berry 7/18 Item Posting: Fan Plug 2/30{Inventory}Pokeballs: x Pokeball

Elfana Aroway Finding the Gym wasn't as simple as Elfana had thought it would be. She had been expecting to find a large building- perhaps something with the word Gym plastered across the front of it. That would make sense considering how many challengers were children. A safe, reasonably placed Gym didn't feel like too much to ask. A function over form approach should have been a necessity. Instead she found herself being directed towards a mine of all things. She understood the choice of aesthetic fit the Rock Type Gym but that didn't make it any less irritating to her. Her already negative view of the Gym worsened when she realized it wasn't a straight walk through a tunnel. She needed to navigate mine shafts to get where she wanted to go. The incident in Oreburgh Gate was still fresh in her mind. Because of this she found herself walking through the mine shafts with her Turtwig in arms. Kiro held Cranberry's hand to guide him. The mine might have been sturdier than she was giving it credit for but she wasn't willing to put her Pokemon at risk by trusting the competence of other people. Walter, thankfully, was willing to ask for directions for her when they came across a miner. She was in no mood to speak to anyone. She stood on the opposite side of the tunnel, ignoring the conversation until she saw a Geodude being sent out against Walter. That wasn't happening. Her response...wasn't exactly rational. "Pantalaimon, Tackle!" She cried out as she threw her Turtwig at the Geodude. Fortunately Pantalaimon seemed to think being thrown was the best way to tackle something. He laughed as he collided with the Geodude. Kiro caught him before he could plop down on the floor. The Geodude and Miner looked utterly stunned by her bizarre behavior. The Miner chose not to comment on it, clearing his throat before awkwardly gesturing towards his Geodude. "Um...Rollout?" Geodude took a couple of seconds to respond, needing a moment to process what was going on. She had just had a Turtwig thrown at her. This brief pause gave both Walter and Kiro a chance to return to their trainer before the Rock Type began to roll, colliding with the little grass turtle. "A-Absorb next." Elfana was bright red, though this was temporarily hidden when the green light of Absorb filled the tunnel. The Geodude fainted and Pantalaimon began to cheer. While the Turtwig was celebrating, Elfana was staring sheepishly at the miner. "Which way is the Gym?"
Elfana's embarrassment had faded some by the time they located the Gym. Walter was going to be teleporting them out of there after the battle. She did not want to encounter that miner again. The encounter had broken the irritated mood she was in though, which allowed her to take a moment to appreciate the large cavern the Gym was in. It must have taken a lot of time and effort to carve out. Now that she was in the Gym she wasn't entirely sure what she was supposed to do. She was visibly lost. Pantalaimon and Cranberry decided to resume their game of tag while she assessed the situation. Did she need to wait to be called over? That felt correct to her. She waited patiently, watching her Pokemon as they ran in circles near her. So long as she kept an eye on them she didn't see any harm in letting them play.

ElfyLeader RoarkAfter a few minutes of waiting, she would start to hear another voice coming from an adjacent pathway. "-Just ensure that the reinforcements are still secure before continuing. Over." He spoke, as he began into his cavernous gym. He was speaking into a radio to one of the mine workers, helping them out with their questions. He made it a few steps into the Gym before looking up and locating the female he was told about by the gym trainer. There was a click as he turned off his radio so there wouldn't be any interruptions. He gave her a friendly expression as he made his way towards her. It was an interesting group of Pokémon around the female, Alakazam, Croagunk, Turtwig, and to his delight, a Cranidos. It wasn't every day that he got to see an Alakazam and a Cranidos in his gym, at least with trainers. It was nice to see them interacting and playing with each other. "Hello, I'm Roark the Gym Leader here. I was told you were interested in challenging me" He greeted her with a friendly tone as he got closer to her. He looked down to her Pokémon and couldn't help but smile. "It's good to see you have an energetic group here." he told her. He of course gave her time to respond or reply with a question, but shortly after turned to the flat area most battled on. "We can go ahead and get the battle started for you." He told her as he started making his way towards his side of the battling area. Once he got there, he let out his Onix to ready the large snake for battle.Onix Lv: 13 HP: 110 Gender: Male Ability: Rock Head- Does not receive recoil damage from recoil-causing attacks Rage- 20 | +10 damage to attack each turn used Rock Tomb- 50 | Lowers target's speed by one stage Bind- 15 | 2-5 turns Harden- Raises user's defense by one stage[/div] {Remaining Pokemon (Click)} Onix Lv: 13 HP: 110 Gender: Male Ability: Rock Head- Does not receive recoil damage from recoil-causing attacks Rage- 20 | +10 damage to attack each turn used Rock Tomb- 50 | Lowers target's speed by one stage Bind- 15 | 2-5 turns Harden- Raises user's defense by one stage Cranidos Lv: 17 HP: 130 Gender: Male Ability: Mold Breaker-Ignores all abilities that would affect the damage or effects of the user's attacks Take Down- 90 | 1/4 recoil Pursuit- 40 | Damage doubled to Pokemon switched into battle without prior team member fainting Focus Energy- Next attack has a 1/3 chance of doing x2 damage Leer- Lowers target's defense by one stage {Battle Overview (Click)}

Elfana Aroway Cranberry and Pantalaimon were still chasing each other around the area when Roark finally appeared but this didn't prevent them from pausing mid game to greet him. Cranberry let out a small roar while Pantalaimon did his best to wave to the Gym Leader. Walter and Elfana had been in the middle of a conversation by that point. The Alakazam greeted Roark with a friendly wave before going to sit on the benches. Kiro and Elfana were not at pleasant as the others. The Croagunk greeted him with a dismissive croak while the soft smile Elfana had worn while watching her Pokemon faded into a look of total apathy. "Hello. That is correct." She folded her hands in front of herself and bowed slightly before going to her side of the battling area. "Pantalaimon, you're up." She gestured towards the field. Her Turtwig did not appear to be aware of the change in his trainer's behavior. He was as happy as ever as he ran out to meet the Onix. "Hi~! We're battling each other I think. Let's play nice!" He giggled and smiled brightly. "This is going to be fun~!" While the excited Grass Type bounced around and waited for the battle to begin, Kiro lead Cranberry over to the bench with Walter. The Cranidos wanted to bounce around and play too but he was going to have to wait his turn. "Behave and maybe you'll get to join the battle later." Kiro sat down next to Walter, keeping a tight grip on the Cranidos' hand so he couldn't run off. "Aw...Fine." Cranberry pouted and plopped himself down on the ground next to the bench. He would just have to be the bestest cheerleader until he got to battle too!

ElfyLeader RoarkRoark as friendly, and returned the waves to the Pokémon, even the Croagunk, but he couldn't help but notice the unenthusiastic reaction from the trainer. That wasn't a problem for him really, she wasn't young so it was understandable she wouldn't be nervous, and no one really had to be friendly. He decided to just get on with the battle. He stroked the rock snake's chin before sending the large Pokémon out onto the field. Roark could see she sent out her Turtwig, which was an obvious choice, that or her Alakazam, but he expected it for the most part. "Turtwig? Smart choice but I get to battle them plenty. Good luck." He offered her, but he was genuinely wishing her good luck for a good fair battle. The Onix looked down at the grass type, and couldn't ignore the upbeat Pokémon. "We are. Lets keep it fun, but battle your hardest alright? Because I will be to." He told the young turtle. He could see his good spirit, but he didn't want to surprise him or upset the Pokémon once the battle started. "Onix, use Bind." Roark called out. Onix nodded and le tout a rumble as he brought his tail forward, and wrapped it around the Turtwig and began to hold onto the young Turtwig and put pressure on him.Onix Lv: 13 HP: 110 Gender: Male Ability: Rock Head- Does not receive recoil damage from recoil-causing attacks Rage- 20 | +10 damage to attack each turn used Rock Tomb- 50 | Lowers target's speed by one stage Bind- 15 | 2-5 turns Harden- Raises user's defense by one stage[/div] {Remaining Pokemon (Click)} Onix Lv: 13 HP: 110 Gender: Male Ability: Rock Head- Does not receive recoil damage from recoil-causing attacks Rage- 20 | +10 damage to attack each turn used Rock Tomb- 50 | Lowers target's speed by one stage Bind- 15 | 2-5 turns Harden- Raises user's defense by one stage Cranidos Lv: 17 HP: 130 Gender: Male Ability: Mold Breaker-Ignores all abilities that would affect the damage or effects of the user's attacks Take Down- 90 | 1/4 recoil Pursuit- 40 | Damage doubled to Pokemon switched into battle without prior team member fainting Focus Energy- Next attack has a 1/3 chance of doing x2 damage Leer- Lowers target's defense by one stage {Battle Overview (Click)}[Roark sent out Onix!] [Onix 110/110]

Elfana Aroway Elfana didn't feel a need to attempt to maintain a conversation with Roark. She was there to battle and win a badge. Human interaction was an unnecessary step in that process. She started to call to her Turtwig but before she could he let out a loud cry. One would think that such a small creature would be frightened by something as big as an Onix holding it in its tail but Pantalaimon was as happy as a Turtwig could be. "You must give the bestest hugs!" Being wrapped up by the Onix hurt a little bit but he could still move his legs just enough to hug him. "There! Now you get a hug too!" Elfana's cold demeanor warmed ever so slightly for the briefest of seconds. Pantalaimon looked like he was having fun and it was too cute. She had a battle to focus on though. She needed to be serious. "Pantalaimon, Absorb." She ordered her Turtwig, who squeezed the Onix as best he could with such stubby legs before obeying his trainer. By now Pantalaimon understood that using Absorb on a Rock Type was generally unpleasant for the Rock Type on the receiving end of the attack, so after he was done draining as much energy as he could from the Onix he licked the part of the rock snake's tail closest to him. "There! Kisses make things better!" The sweet Turtwig smiled up at the Onix. He was his opponent but that didn't mean he needed to be rude to the Rock Type. He was going to keep being the nicest Turtwig he could be until he was knocked out! Elfana couldn't help the small smile that appeared on her face. Maintaining her apathetic expression was difficult when her Turtwig was being so cheerful. His excitement was contagious.

ElfyLeader RoarkThe Gym Leader could see she meant business and that was it. Alright, he could work with that. However, with her Turtwig it was an entirely different story. Onix almost hesitated as the Turtwig was laughing and complimenting him. It usually didn't happy like that in battles. It was usually a serious fight, but the little guy was complimenting his hugging ability, which made it hard to ignore and keep battling. "Uh... Thank you." The rock type replied, but didn't loosen his grip on the little guy. However, the retaliation was stronger then he would have guessed. The squeezing from the Turtwig didn't phase the Onix any, it was the absorb. He let out a low rumble as his energy was trained from him, and wavered for a moment before shaking it off. "You've got this Onix, you can shake it off." Roark encouraged, which he couldn't help but notice the little Turtwig kissing the spot he had just absorbed from. Roark didn't know much about the starter, just that it seemed to be fairly talkative, so this action seemed a bit odd to him. The Onix nodded to the Turtwig, at least letting him know he wasn't upset by the absorb. "Keep holding him, and use Rock Tomb" He called out. While, the Onix could see the little Turtwig was young and excitable, he did have to battle to the best ability other wise if they did win, it wouldn't be a true one. The snake's horn began to glow white as the smaller rock debris around the field began to glow and lift into the air, they hovered over the Turtwig for only a second before they dropped onto him. Elfana Aroway Pantalaimon watched the hovering debris with a fascinated expression. Floating rocks weren't something you got to see every day! He tried to say as much before they were dropped on him. Elfana winced, concerned that her Turtwig had just been crushed. She relaxed again when he pushed the rocks away from himself and smiled at the Onix again. He several little bumps and bruises from the rocks but he was taking the attack well enough. "That was really cool!" He patted the rock snake, pushing some of the debris closest to his foot on to the ground. Pantalaimon couldn't make the rocks float but he could drop them too! Elfana sighed and smiled softly. "Pantalaimon, Absorb again." She wanted to get the fight with the Onix over with before her Turtwig was accidentally crushed. Pantalaimon hugged the Onix again, using the hug as a chance to absorb more energy from him. "Sorry, mister!" His trainer wanted to end this part of the battle so he had to try to knock out the Onix. He hoped that he would at left be able to lay down instead of just falling over. Falling when you were so big had to hurt!

ElfyLeader RoarkRoark was surprised to see the Turtwig shake off the attack so quickly, seeing him push himself free of the rocks. He was still talking and seemed to be holding together pretty well. He couldn't help but smile. "That's a tough little turtwig you have there." He commented. He was ready to call for another attack, but the was too late. He could already see Onix wasn't doing so well, and his only chance was to get in another attack but his challenger had beat him to it. His smile faded as he watched his Onix slowly lose his energy and start to fall sideways. Unfortunately Onix wasn't able to process the turtwig's apology, but fortunately Roark was able to return the Pokémon before he hit the ground. Releasing the Turtwig from the tight 'hug.' "Definitely a strong one, but lets see how he does against my next Pokémon." He replied, sending out his Cranidos. The fossil looked around himself, and took a ready stance against the Turtwig once he realized he was in a battle. "Since we're jumping into it, Cranidos, use pursuit." He commented. The Cranidos kicked at the ground once or twice before taking off and running head first into the Turtwig.Cranidos Lv: 17 HP: 130 Gender: Male Ability: Mold Breaker-Ignores all abilities that would affect the damage or effects of the user's attacks Take Down- 90 | 1/4 recoil Pursuit- 40 | Damage doubled to Pokemon switched into battle without prior team member fainting Focus Energy- Next attack has a 1/3 chance of doing x2 damage Leer- Lowers target's defense by one stage[ {Battle Overview (Click)}[Roark sent out Onix!] [Onix 110/110]

Elfana Aroway "That's about what I expected." Elfana commented more to herself than Roark when Pantalaimon was not able to shake off the Cranidos's attack. He had just managed to get himself back to his feet when the fossil collided with him. The little Turtwig was knocked back by the impact, staying down until Elfana returned him to his Pokeball. He has done well. The Onix was out of the way now. Between Kiro and probably Cranberry she assumed they would be able to take down the Cranidos. Her Turtwig had given them a good start. Now they needed to make his effort worth it. "Good job, Pantalaimon." She whispered to the little Turtwig's Pokeball, hugging it to her chest for a moment before putting it away. Her own Cranidos was whining and pouting. For a moment she considered sending him in next. Instead she gestured to Kiro. The Croagunk hopped into the battle area, looking back to his trainer and croaking at her. He didn't bother acknowledging Roark or Cranidos. He wasn't interested in talking like Pantalaimon had been. "Do what you feel is correct." Elfana trusted Kiro's judgement. He was going to decide his own attacks. "Be careful." The Croagunk croaked again before turning to face the Cranidos, the sacs in his cheek expanding as they filled with fluid. If Kiro had his way the fossil was going to end up with a face full of poisonous slime.

ElfyLeader RoarkRoark would have been surprised had the Turtwig not succumbed to the attack. He had already taken quite a bit from Onix. Roark was fully expecting to have to battle the Alakazam next, seeing the fully evolved Pokémon, he could only assume it was a fairly strong Pokémon, but he was thankful when he saw the Croagunk hop on to the field. That he could work with. "Interesting, I haven't battled a Croagunk in some time." He spoke with an interested expression. The Croagunk seemed to be no where near as talkative as the Turtwig. "Alright, lets give them a take down." He spoke. His Cranidos took off running without hesitation and tackled the poisonous frog at top speed.(I for some reason thought Cranidos was rock steel type, I dunno, I was excited to be evil XD) Cranidos Lv: 17 HP: 130 Gender: Male Ability: Mold Breaker-Ignores all abilities that would affect the damage or effects of the user's attacks Take Down- 90 | 1/4 recoil Pursuit- 40 | Damage doubled to Pokemon switched into battle without prior team member fainting Focus Energy- Next attack has a 1/3 chance of doing x2 damage Leer- Lowers target's defense by one stage[ {Battle Overview (Click)}[Roark sent out Onix!] [Onix 110/110]

Elfana Aroway "That is surprising. I thought Croagunk were native to Sinnoh." She commented, finally interested enough to contribute to the conversation. Croagunk were fascinating creatures. She has assumed that such a fun Pokemon would be a common sight in their home region. "Not everyone enjoys Poison Types." Walter decided to speak up as well. Sending out a Poison Type against a Rock Type was usually a questionable choice too so a Rock Type Gym Leader not seeing Croagunk often was reasonable. Kiro braced himself for the hit, managing to dig his feet into the ground enough so he slid back instead of getting knocked over by the attack. The Croagunk was left with several bruises and was clearly hurt but that didn't stop him from shoving the Cranidos back before spitting the built up slime at him. He hopped back after, letting out a low croak as he glance back at his trainer. She was already studying each of his bruises to the best of her ability from her current position. Another visit to the Pokemon Center was going to be necessary. She really hated that nurse. Kiro turned his attention back to the Cranidos, his bored expression finally changing to an amused smirk. Poison attacks weren't exactly strong against Rock Types but he knew it had still done more damage that Mud-Slap might have. Even if he got knocked out now, he was confident that he had done enough damage to the Cranidos that his trainer would easily be able to win the battle.
(Would Poison Barb make it .6 damage?)

ElfyLeader RoarkIt would seem he had finally peeked her interest, and she replied with how Croagunk were native to Sinnoh. "You're right, they are. I have seen them around, just not many trainers bring them in to battle me." He replied. Usually he had the same battle, young trainers coming in before they're ready with just a starter. Those battles often went by fairly quickly. However, it was abundantly clear that this wasn't the case with this challenger. "More often times then not, I battle grass types and the occasional water or ground type. So this is a treat. " He told her. He had battle Turtwigs many of times so it was fun when there was a change. While he was talking, Cranidos had taken the hit from the shot of gunk and began trying to shake it off, growling in disgust. "You got this Cranidos, hit them with another Take Down!" He called out after the fossil shook off most of the slime. The Fossil took off running again, ready to strike back for the slime, and head butted the poison type again.(You are correct! It makes it 60 damage. Terribly sorry for the long delay! ) Cranidos Lv: 17 HP: 130 Gender: Male Ability: Mold Breaker-Ignores all abilities that would affect the damage or effects of the user's attacks Take Down- 90 | 1/4 recoil Pursuit- 40 | Damage doubled to Pokemon switched into battle without prior team member fainting Focus Energy- Next attack has a 1/3 chance of doing x2 damage Leer- Lowers target's defense by one stage {Battle Overview (Click)}[Roark sent out Onix!] [Onix 110/110]

Elfana Aroway This time Kiro was thrown back by the attack. He was okay with that though. That was less distance he would need to try to move to get back to the bench. He was unable to continue battling but he was too stubborn to let himself to be put back in his Pokeball before he confirmed his trainer had won the battle. The Croagunk gave a weak croak of protest when he heard his trainer taking out his Pokeball. Elfana hesitated, then sighed and walked into the battle area to pick up her Croagunk. "Cranberry, you're up." She called to her Cranidos as she returned to her position on the other side of the area. The Cranidos let out an excited roar before running out on to the field. His entire body wiggled as he tried to wag his tail like an excited puppy. The other Cranidos had knocked out his turtle friend and the moody frog so he was going to knock him out in return! "That is unfortunate. Croagunk are capable of learning a variety of different moves that could aid them against Rock Types." She also maybe has a bit of a bias towards Poison Types. She adored them. Elfana glanced down at her own Croagunk, who was was trying not to fall asleep in her arms. He was determined to see the end of the battle.
(Xp No worries. Took me a bit to respond too.)

Elfy Leader RoarkRoark could see the resilience of the Croagunk but his Crandos was too much for the poisonous frog. Roark watched as she walked onto the battle, his Cranidos stopping to look back to his leader. The Gym Leader was about to call out to her to stop, that definitely was a safety hazard. Walking into the Battle field during a battle. But he choked back his protests. He knew his fossil wasn't going to do anything to harm her, as well as she was just retrieving her injured Pokémon. Once she was off, she sent in her own Cranidos which was an interesting choice. "Oh? Cranidos' going head to head?" He offered as her own looked excited to be in battle. His own was excited usually and was a fierce battler but the battle had already taken out a lot of him. She stated that it was a shame he didn't get to battle more Croagunk, and that it would be a smart choice against him. "I agree with you there. They are diverse Pokémon. It's always more exciting and fun battling a unique and strategized team." He admitted. He was doing well so far... At least his Cranidos was. He was confident he could pull out another win. "Alright, lets see what your Cranidos has. Give them another Pursuit." He called out. His Pokémon took off running again, ramming his fellow fossil head first. Elfana Aroway Elfana shrugged, watching as her Cranidos bounced and wiggled about. He could not have been happier to be part of the battle. "He would have been upset if I chose not to let him help." She commented in return, adjusting the Croagunk in her arms so he could rest his head against her chest. Cranberry didn't wait for his trainer to call out an attack for him when the other Cranidos charged. He knew just how to take care of this! As soon as Cranidos rammed into him, Cranberry reared back and slammed his head against his. There was an audible thud when the rock hard heads of the Cranidos collided. Cranberry stumbled back, a bit dazed from the impact. "Are you okay, Cranberry?" Elfana called to her Cranidos. He turned to face her, smiling as he let out a cheerful cry. That was fun! He wanted to do it again! He scd his foot against the ground, preparing to charge again before he was told to wait. Elfana wanted to give the other Cranidos a minute to collect itself- if it was able to. Kiro croaked and finally shut his eyes. The battle was over as far as he was concerned. He wouldn't sleep until she got her badge but he was finally going to rest- or he would have if Cranberry hadn't decided to charge at his trainer the moment the other Cranidos fainted. The Croagunk croaked and prepared to disable the Cranidos but fortunately he slowed enough to avoid taking her off of her feet. Cranberry latched on to her leg, hugging her as tight as he could manage with his little arms. He roared, his tail doing its best to wag again as she patted his head. "Well done." She should probably discourage him from running at people but he was so happy...She couldn't bring herself to scold him. He hadn't hurt her. Hugs were hardly dangerous.
(X3 No worries~! I thought you were busy and I didn't want to bug you.)

Elfy Leader RoarkRoark was wanting to go head to head, literally, with her Cranidos. To really see how she had trained her thus far, but his own Cranidos was far to tuckered out to keep up with the fresh Fossil. The opposing Cranidos turned on his own immidately after his attack and knocked him to the ground. Roark couldn't help but frown as he returned his Cranidos. He never was a fan of losing. It was embarrassing when he did. It didn't happen all that often, but when it did he hated to admit his defeat to newer trainers. At least in this case, she didn't seem to be like an entirely new trainer, or a young one either. He began across the field towards his challenger, and began speaking once he was within easy earshot of her, so he could merely talk without having to raise his voice for her to hear. "You and your Pokémon battled well. However I would do a bit more training before you moved on to Gardenia, she's a lot tougher then she looks." He advised her, as he dug for his badge and rewards to give her. Once he was close enough he pulled them out of his deep pockets and held them out to her. "Pokémon are definitely smart creatures, and yours are, but you might want to work with them so they know when to attack so they don't jump into something they aren't ready for." He offered her, while it definitely worked for her Cranidos, some times jumping into an attack is the wrong choice and could get a Pokémon hurt rather then knock out like it did today. "That being said, despite my loss... It was a fun battle." He complimented with a nod, which it was. Her Pokémon were enjoyable, and he could see their personalities shining through which was great. After she accepted her items, He began to make his way out, he still was on the job after all. He clicked his radio back on, but turned back to the woman. "Oh, and Gardenia would love your Turtwig, you might want to show her." He offered with a smile before making his exit. Elfana Aroway Roark was not wrong- Cranberry certainly needed to be trained. She couldn't fault the Cranidos for his behavior however. His trainer- and everything else- was still very new to him. He had only just recently been revived. After accepting the badge and items from Roark, she waved goodbye and knelt down to give Cranberry a hug. The Cranidos had won her the battle. Correcting his behavior could wait a little longer. She let him roar and growl excitedly, no doubt trying to describe to her the "epic" battle he had just had with the other Cranidos. Elfana waited until he had worn himself out before giving him a gentle pat on the head and returning him to his Pokeball. "Thank you, Cranberry. Rest for now." By the time she was back on her feet, her Alakazam was at her side. "Taking some time to train before continuing on to the next Gym isn't a bad idea." Walter fully agreed with Roark. Elfana's Pokemon had a lot to learn. They couldn't expect Cranberry to headbutt every opponent away for them. Still- she wanted to argue that training would be a waste of time. The sooner they got through the Gyms, the sooner she could go home. She knew this idea was painfully flawed. Pokemon with a lack of experience were more likely to lose in a Gym than Pokemon that had been properly trained. Losing would mean redoing the Gym...and redoing the Gym would take more time than spending a few days training her Pokemon might have. She didn't say anything but she had already admitted defeat as far as that argument went. "Let's head back to the Pokemon Center." Elfana adjusted Kiro against herself before letting Walter place his arm around hers. They could worry about training after her Pokemon had a chance to rest. "I really hate that nurse." She muttered to herself as Walter Teleported the little group out of the Gym.Partners: Out of their Pokeballs: Walter (Male Alakazam), Kiro (Male Croagunk) Wearing: dress, hairstyle, shoes Trainer Encounter: 11/25 Wild Encounter: 16/5 Item Posting: Grepa Berry 16/18 Item Posting: Fan Plug 10/30{Inventory}Pokeballs: x Pokeball

Elfana Aroway No amount of time spent in a Pokemon Center would make Elfana like the nurses that ran them. She sat in a vacant corner, her legs crossed and her hands folded in her lap while she waited for her Pokemon to be returned to her. While she waited she decided to plot out her trip to the next town. "There is a forest near the town the next Gym is in." A forest would be an ideal place to train her Pokemon. Her Alakazam was glancing over the list of Pokemon that had been sighted in the area while she planned out their route to the forest. "There are Buneary in the forest." He commented as he looked over the list. Elfana paused her planning long enough to look at her Alakazam. "And?" She didn't know why he felt it necessary to bring it up. They wouldn't have any use for a Buneary. "You should get one." Buneary needed to bond with their trainer in order to evolve. A Buneary would be an excellent Pokemon for Elfana. Her Pokemon weren't the only ones that needed to grow. Spending time with a Pokemon that actually required a friendly relationship to grow would do her some good. It wasn't exactly bonding with other people but it was still progress. "Am I going to get a say in this?" Elfana looked back down at her phone before handing it to Walter. He could figure out their trip plan this time around. "Probably not."
Elfana didn't bother to argue. She was going to end up with a Buneary whether she liked it or not apparently. She could figure out how to make it work. Since she still had a few minutes to wait for her Pokemon to be returned to her, she decided to go over to the nearby PC and put two of the Pokemon with her into storage. Her bag was going to end up crowded with Pokeballs. The Psyduck and Zubat could be trained sometime later.Partners: Out of their Pokeballs: Walter (Male Alakazam) Wearing: dress, hairstyle, shoes Trainer Encounter: 12/25 Wild Encounter: 17/5 Item Posting: Grepa Berry 17/18 Item Posting: Fan Plug 11/30{Inventory}Pokeballs: x Pokeball
