A few miles off the northwester coast of Sinnoh, there once was a very prosperous ore mine that was responsible for most of the region's material use, however once the reserves dried up, the entire mine was abandoned and left on the island. This was not in vain though as since then, Iron island has been kept open as a training area for trainers who pass through and as a habitat for the wild Pokemon that had come to call the island home. Despite it still being a popular location, the only ports that access Iron Island are from Canalave City where the boats dock at the island's only remaining dock in the south-western corner. From the outside, Iron Island may not look so impressive as on the outside it is only a subtle mound that could hardly be called a mountain, surrounded by the remnants of the old mining town where the workers lived. It is underneath this mound though where the real structure of the island remains, miles and miles of caves and tunnels left by the old miners, and even some of their equipment and steel garters too.
