"The Port With Sea Breezes."
Far to the west coast of the Johto Region where forest turns to field and the air is crisp with sea sprays from the ocean, the largest port city in the region lies on the coast. Where Goldenrod City has it's share of ports and docks for those travelers coming by sea, Olivine City is the stop anyone would make coming to the region by ship or boat, making it a central hub for all trading and shipping activity, where the world famous S.S. Aqua ports on it's continuous trip around the world. All of the ships that come to Olivine are greeted by the famed Glitter Lighthouse, a beacon for all the travelers that come not just from the sea, but from the east too. The Glitter Lighthouse is taken care of by many of it's citizens as well as Jasmine who's Ampharos takes great care in guiding those ships coming from the sea to safely port in the city.
{Olivine City Gym (Click)}Jasmine is the Gym Leader of the Olivine Gym. Despite her petite stature, and quiet demeanor, she is well known as "The Steel-Clad Defense Girl." Jasmine is a very shy girl and has trouble speaking confidentially in front of crowds. She is compassionate, Which greatly showed back when the Amphy, the Glitter Lighthouse's Ampharos, fell ill. Jasmine took the time to personally take care of Amphy until she were perfectly healed. Though she is timid and compassionate, that does not stop her from being a very fierce battler. Not only has the mastered training Steel types, but even in her younger years, she mastered Rock Type Pokemon, both known as some of the hardest and most stubborn of the types. Her personality and quiet voice mostly comes out while she is caring for her Pokemon, or during a battle at her gym. Jasmine is usually spotted outside of her Gym every afternoon, eating lunch at the Olivine City Diner alone. She usually doesn't like attention being brought to her, being that it makes her far to nervous, so she usually sits at the back of the diner as she eats. Even though she has a fear of stage freight, she is a serious contestant in the Pokeathlon, entering her Pokemon in the stamina category. She competes with her Steelix, Magneton, an Magnemite. Jasmine's Gym sticks out against the rest of Olivine City. The gym sits right at the City's heart where it greatly shines in the daylight, and perfectly reflects the moon and star light at night. The outside of the gym is completely made up of shiny, hard, metal. It appears to be cleaned frequently for the gym is so shiny that it almost appears to be a mirror. In front of the gym, is a large grassy area where jasmine and many other people and Pokemon alike are welcome to come out, sit, and play around together. Once inside, the metallic theme continues, where it's floor to ceiling metal. The floor appears to be steel tiling, while the walls are lined with cream stained metal paneling, and decorated with nice white ds. The room is very open, and flat, but doesn't appear to be very versatile. The battle field is a large flat area, where the metal paneling continues. The two battlers can stand on platforms sitting opposite of each other, both high enough to get a good view of the battle. On the sides of the Gym is now empty, a medium sized sitting area once sat on each side of the battle field, but Jasmine had them removed because battling in front of to many people made her far to nervous. {Gym Trainer (Click)} Lyle Magnemite Lv. 50 HP 380 Ability: Magnet Pull- Steel types cannot run nor switch while this Pokémon is in battle Magnet Rise- User is immune to ground type attacks for five turns Spark- 60 | 3/10 chance of paralysis Thunder Wave- Paralyzes opponent Magnet Bomb- 50 | Never misses Magnemite Lv. 53 HP 420 Ability: Magnet Pull- Steel types cannot run nor switch while this Pokémon is in battle Mirror Shot- 60 | Lowers target's accuracy by one stage Magnet Rise- User is immune to ground type attacks for five turns Screech- Lowers target's defense by one stage Electro Ball- 60 Wilbur Magnemite Lv. 53 HP 420 Ability: Magnet Pull- Steel types cannot run nor switch while this Pokémon is in battle Thunder Shock- 30 | 1/4 chance of paralysis Metal Sound- Lowers target's special defense by one stage Supersonic- Confuses opponent | 6/10 chance Gyro Ball- 50 | Target's level - user's level = added attack damage Magneton Lv. 54 HP 420 Ability: Magnet Pull- Steel types cannot run nor switch while this Pokémon is in battle Tri Attack- 80 | 3/10 chance to induce status, generate 1-3 for status burn, freeze, or paralysis Magnet Rise- User is immune to ground type attacks for five turns Electric Terrain- Prevents all Pokemon from falling asleep for five turns, electric type attacks x1.5 damage Thunder Shock- 30 | 1/4 chance of paralysis Rosco Magnemite Lv. 53 HP 420 Ability: Magnet Pull- Steel types cannot run nor switch while this Pokémon is in battle Electro Ball- 60 Screech- Lowers target's defense by one stage Gyro Ball- 50 | Target's level - user's level = added attack damage Thunder Shock- 30 | 1/4 chance of paralysis Skarmory Lv. 55 HP 440 Female Ability: Keen Eye- Prevents the Pokémon from losing accuracy Air Slash- 70 | 3/10 chance of making target flinch Steel Wing- 70 | Raises user's defense by one stage Metal Sound- Lowers target's special defense by one stage Slash- 70 {Leader Jasmine (Click)} Magneton Lv. 58 HP 460 Ability: Magnet Pull- Steel types cannot run nor switch while this Pokémon is in battle Flash Cannon- 80 | Lowers target's special defense by one stage Zap Cannon- 100 | Causes paralysis Magic Coat- All status ailment inducing attacks are reflected back to the target Reflect- Halves physical attack damage for 5 turns Skarmory Lv. 60 HP 480 Female Ability: Keen Eye- Prevents the Pokémon from losing accuracy Iron Head- 80 | 3/10 chance of flinching Air Slash- 70 | 3/10 chance of making target flinch Rock Slide- 70 | 3/10 chance of flinching Spikes- Damages Pokemon switching into battle that are not flying type or have levitate, up to three layers maximum can be set. 1 Layer=1/8th targets max HP per turn, 2 Layers=1/6th targets max HP per turn, 3 Layers=1/4th target's max HP per turn Forretress Lv. 62 HP 500 Male Ability: Sturdy- This Pokemon will be left with 1 HP when taking enough damage for a one hit knock out Gyro Ball- 50 | Target's level - user's level = added attack damage Toxic Spikes- Poisons pokemon switched into battle. Julian Malcolm
Julian accepted the rewards, but one he was more excited about than the others; his fourth Gym Badge! He was half way there, he'd already made it so far, and he couldn't be more proud of himself. Morty was tough, that was for sure, but with the trust he had in his Pokemon the battle was over before he knew it. Pumped up with residual energy from the battle against Gym Leader Morty, Julian rushed out of town and ran down the road towards the next City. Umbreon and Espeon kept up easily, but hadn't expected the run so they weren't prepared.
Julian hadn't run for a while, and he wasn't the most physically fit individual around, so the running didn't last long. It was still around noon though, so he knew he had plenty of time. In the grand scheme of things, he had all the time in the world. He was pretty young still, after all. Half way to the next town Julian realized exactly what it is that he'd forgotten. He felt pretty stupid at that point, but it was too late to turn back and get his Pokemon looked after in the Ecruteak City Pokemon Center. He'd just have to wait until they got into the next City.
The moment they made the bustling port city, Julian went straight for the red-dome roof of the Pokemon Center. As expected, one of the many Nurse Joys was standing behind the counter. She happily accepted his Pokemon and took them to the back. Julian sat at the P.C. making a couple more changes to his party with Umbreon and Espeon at his side.

Julian Malcolm
He let out Phanpy, since he hadn't seen his adorable little elephant in quite a while. He had missed the Pokemon in all honesty. Julian sat with Umbreon and Espeon curled up near his feet, and Phanpy on his lap as they spent some time together waiting on his other Pokemon. It wasn't much longer before Nurse Joy returned with his Pokemon, they weren't seriously hurt and he knew it wouldn't take very long. The question that remained, however, was what to do now? Walking out of the Pokemon with the sun still overhead, he knew there would be plenty to do here. The smell of the sea air was unique and relaxing, like a vacation. There was no time to rest, however, when he's this close to his next Pokemon Gym battle, and his next badge.
"No way, Jose'." A surfer-dude exclaimed as Julian approached the Gym. "Like... you can't battle this Gym Leader because..." He paused, as if trying to remember why exactly the Challenger had to be turned away. "Oh, right. He's in Cianwood." Julian hadn't come across a Cianwood City yet, so he figured it must have been further ahead. "Sorry little dude, you'll have to go and get'em." Julian couldn't cross the water between them this late into the day, it'd be dark before he got there. He sighed and turned away.
What options did that leave him with? He couldn't go out to sea, and he couldn't battle the Gym Leader of Olivine. He found himself walking absentmindedly, not really sure where he was going. When he ended up on a beach, however, he decided to treat this like a vacation rather than a setback. All Pokemon Trainers had to take little breaks now and then, or they could burn out. He used one of the empty stalls to change into his swim-suit, and stuffed his clothes and shoes into his backpack. Umbreon and Espeon happily ran in the sand following their Trainer as he ran towards the sea. He tossed his bag down onto the sand and walked into the cool water.
There were other people around who were entertained as they watched Umbreon and Espeon prance about in the shallows of the water. That gave Julian an idea. He let out all of his Pokemon! Of course Quagsire waddled straight for the water, and Typhlosion wanted nothing to do with it - he preferred to lay in the warm sand and sun bathe. Noctowl perched on top of Tank as per usual, who was trying not to freak out as the sand covered his feet and part of his legs. Apparently Zorua had taken the shape of Phanpy, because both Pokemon were rolling around in the sand and making giant shapes together.

Julian Malcolm
Seeing the Pokemon having fun on the beach, a wild Pokemon wanted to join in on the fun. She rolled up into a ball just like the pair of Phanpy and rolled around with them. Julian watched, recognizing the pink ball from his Gym Battle against Whitney. So, this must be where she caught it. If it was good enough to be a Gym Leader's final choice, then it was good enough for him. He didn't battle it yet, though. He let them play and have their fun.
About twenty minutes later, his Pokemon were tired and so was the wild Miltank. "Noctowl, our friend looks a little tired. Why don't we help her out." Noctowl's eyes glowed bright red and the Hypnosis attack successfully put the Pokemon to sleep. Then Noctowl used Psychic twice just to be sure so that when Julian threw out a Pokeball, it caught without a hitch. Game, set, and match, Julian had captured his next Pokemon! A Miltank, interesting. He saw what it was capable of, and decided to use it for his team right then and there.
TL;DR Noctowl used Hypnosis. Miltank is asleep. Noctowl used Psychic (-100, 130/230) Miltank is asleep. Noctowl used Psychic (-110, 20/230) Miltank woke up! Miltank used Bide. Julian used a Pokeball. Julian captured Miltank!

Julian Malcolm
"Hey, hey you! Kid, wait up!" Julian couldn't hear this, but if he could he'd have thought the Stranger's words odd. Wait up? He was relaxing on a beach, he wasn't going anywhere. Umbreon nudged Julian's hand to get his attention, but Julian misunderstood and just pet Umbreon's head. Umbreon stood up, staring at the stranger and that's what finally got Julian's attention. Oh, someone had been talking to him. Whoops. "You Julian?" When Julian nodded, the Trainer continued. "Great! I'm Adri, and I've been keeping tabs on you. If you're as good as the Gym Leaders say you are, then you wouldn't mind a little battle to prove it." Julian sighed, he hadn't expected to battle on his 'vacation'. The Trainer sent out a Meganium. Though impressive, it was a Pokemon Julian had beaten before. If they were kicking the battle off with Starter Pokemon, then so be it. He nodded to Typhlosion, and Noctowl immediately opened the connection between their minds. "Alright Typhlosion, don't hold back. It's a Grass-Type so hit it with every bit of fire-power you've got." Typhlosion nodded, and the flame on his back erupted full-force. Meganium used Petal Blizzard, which reminded Julian of a less powerful Leaf Storm. Typhlosion's Fire Blast attack burned most of the leaves away, but a few razor-sharp leaves got around the Fire-Type attack and cut his skin. Meganium, however, was too slow to avoid the massive attack. "Meganium, use Body Slam!" The Grass-Type ran at Typhlosion, who was caught by surprise. Neither Typhlosion nor Julian had anticipated the battle to become close combat. Meganium slammed into Typhlosion, and they both went toppling over. Typhlosion was back on his feet first, and launched another Fire Blast at close range to Meganium. The Grass-Type was hurting now. Meganium couldn't get back to her feet now, so she did the only thing she could do in her last moments of defiance; she started to take in sunlight for her Solar Beam attack. Typhlosion, on all fours, placed a paw on Meganium's neck and readied a Fire Blast attack that would point-blank hit Meganium in the face and cause massive amounts of damage. "Whoa, Man!" He recalled Meganium before Typhlosion could attack. "No need for overkill!" Julian simply stared at him with a blank expression, as if he didn't care. He put himself in this situation after all. TL;DR Round 1 Meganium used Petal Blizzard (-40, 260/300) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 400/600) Meganium is hurt by burn (-10, 390/600) Round 2 Meganium used Body Slam (-80, 180/300) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-220, 170/600) Meganium is hurt by burn (-10, 160/600) Round 3 Meganium used Solar Beam (round 1) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-220, 0/600) Meganium has fainted! Obviously Julian had proven his skill already, but the challenging Trainer wasn't done yet. That was just fine, if he was going to keep setting them up then Julian would keep knocking them down. He sent out a Golduck next. Being this close to the water, it would have been smart - if only Julian didn't have a plan to counter that. "Tank, you're up this time." He said as Noctowl opened their minds to one another. The giant freed his legs from the sand, turning to face the enemy Trainer. Noctowl flew off and landed on Typhlosion's back, who had gone back to sun-bathing. Needless to say, the Fire-Type wasn't too happy.
As expected, Golduck dove into the water. Tank stood on the shore, and it would be a distance battle this time. Golduck sent a blast of water jetting at Tank, but he shook it off and put Golduck to sleep. Whipping up a powerful blast of Leaf Storm, the leaves were hitting many places in the water just to make sure they hit the Golduck who had sank beneath the surface. Golduck woke up just in time to avoid any further leaves, moving too fast in the water to be hit by any more. Surfacing again, Golduck fired a Hydro Pump attack that was knocking Tank back a step at a time. "Tank, you have to fight through that water."
The torrential onslaught of water was proving to be too much, and the enemy Trainer had a grin on his face. Until Tank whipped up a Leaf Storm that sliced through the water. Every passing second, the leaves moved closer and closer down the water, pushing Golduck's own attack back towards it. It proved to be too much, the leaves finally overtook the Hydro Pump attack and hit Golduck fully. "No, Golduck..." He hung his head, recalling his Pokemon into it's Pokeball.
TL;DR Golduck used Aqua Jet (-15, 185/200) Tank used Hypnosis. Golduck is asleep. Tank used Leaf Storm (-240, 360/600) Golduck is asleep. Tank used Leaf Storm (-240, 120/600) Golduck woke up! Golduck used Hydro Pump (-50, 135/200) Tank used Leaf Storm (-240, 0/600) Golduck has fainted! Tank receives 21 exp.

When the Trainer sent out an Arbok, Julian was in awe. It looked fierce and terrifying, but that wasn't going to stop him on it's own. Julian nodded to Noctowl; this was risky, because if Noctowl fainted then Julian was stuck without a translator for his other Pokemon. If the challenger had other Pokemon after Arbok, then he might have to do this without speaking to his Pokemon. Sure he trusted them, they'd gotten through tough battles thinking for themselves in the past, but it felt different this time.
"Char-bok." The snake hissed, lunging forward to wrap itself around Noctowl and bite down. Noctowl shrilled out in pain and Arbok bit down even harder. The only way out of this was to use Psychic. The snake found itself being unwrapped from around Noctowl and thrown into the water. They waited, the Trainer more impatiently than the others, for Arbok to resurface.
Julian looked at Quagsire, who dove into the water and came back out with the unconscious Arbok. "I heard you were strong and ruthless, but I had no idea..." He trailed of, recalling his Arbok. TL;DR Round 1 Arbok used Bite (-90, 210/300) Noctowl flinched. Round 2 Arbok used Bite (-90, 120/300) Noctowl used Hypnosis. Round 3 Arbok is asleep. Julian Malcolm
It wasn't difficult to see that this Trainer, who had introduced himself as Adri, didn't like Julian - like at all. It didn't take a PokeScientist to figure out the reason either, Julian's Pokemon had come close to seriously injuring his Pokemon. He didn't even want to send his final Pokemon into battle just in case this time it really did cause permanent damage, but decided that his best bet was this Pokemon. It was a Pokemon he'd spent years training, and he was confident that together they could take down this silent Pokemon Trainer.
Dragonite materialized, and roared. He took to the sky, and Julian had to shield his face from the heavy wind made by it's wings. Wow, another Dragonite. They were supposed to be super hard to train, and having battled one in the Enigmatic Tower he knew just how to beat it. Dragonite used Outrage, hitting hard and hitting fast. Quagsire brought a Blizzard to life, which was so powerful it froze the dragon solid. He didn't let up either, the Blizzard only picked up and made the block of ice encasing Dragonite thicker and thicker. Eventually, the Trainer knew he had to call it and recall Dragonite because there was no escaping the block of ice.
He huffed, and without another word turned and walked away.
TL;DR Round 1 Dragonite used Outrage (-100, 130/230) Quagsire used Blizzard (-200, 400/600) Round 2 Dragonite is frozen solid. Quagsire used Blizzard (-200, 200/600) Round 3 Dragonite is frozen solid. Quagsire used Blizzard (-200, 0/600) Dragonite has fainted! Quagsire receives 21 exp.

Julian Malcolm
By the time Julian had defeated the passing Trainer, it was growing quite dark. He'd been so caught up in the battle that he hadn't noticed. Recalling everyone but Umbreon and Espeon, he made his way back to the Pokemon Center and requested a room. Thankfully there was still one open, because a passenger on an incoming ship had missed his boat. That was good enough for him, and he went to sleep the moment his head hit the pillow. The next day, he intended to find the Olivine City Gym Leader and challenge him to a battle no matter where they were.
The next morning, Nurse Joy knocked on his door and Umbreon woke him as was the usual process for Julian's mornings. He didn't mind though, he liked getting an early start to the day. That was just more time he had to accomplish more goals. He walked out to the beach again. Sending Umbreon and Espeon back into their Pokeballs wasn't ideal, but it was necessary for what he planned to do. Sure it was risky, but you didn't get far without a little risk. He called out Quagsire, who watched him blankly. Julian pointed to the water, and Quagsire got in. Julian followed behind, already having changed into his bathing suit. He held on to Quagsire, and the slippery Water-Type Pokemon carried him through the water.

Julian Malcolm Surfing back to the previous City with the help of Quagsire, Julian enjoyed the cool water and liked to watch the boats in the distance. It was calm and relaxing. He wasn't worried about Water-Type Pokemon attacking him and pulling him under, Quagsire was more than a match for any Pokemon that might be willing to get too close.
Surfacing on the beach near Olivine, Julian recalled Quagsire and was about to send out Umbreon and Espeon until they were set upon by a Rattata. Growlithe used Fire Fang once, then twice before switching it up to used Flame Burst. Rattata tried to fight back by biting, but a final Fire Fang knocked the rat out of battle. He recalled Growlithe and sent out Umbreon and Espeon. The two Eeveelutions took their time to play in the sand. TL;DR Growlithe used Fire Fang (-50, 160/210) Rattata flinched. Growlithe used Fire Fang (-50, 110/210) Rattata flinched. Growlithe used Flame Burst (-60, 50/210) Rattata used Bite (-45, 185/230) Growlithe used Fire Fang (-50, 0/210) Rattata fainted! Julian Malcolm Apparently it was the time of day where Pokemon liked to be at the beach; be it to watch the sun set, to battle each other, play in the water without Human interference, it didn't matter. It was providing Julian with the best opportunity to get in some late training with Growlithe. The hound was immediately let out of his Pokeball, even before the Farfetch'd waddled up to them. Growlithe immediately jumped into action with a three Fire Fang attacks. The bird fought back, but it was in vain. The fire was too much, and Growlithe was the winner. TL;DR Round 1 Growlithe used Fire Fang (-50, 160/210) Farfetched was burned. Farfetch'd used Slash (-70, 160/230) Farfetched is hurt by burn (-10, 150/210) Round 2 Growlithe used Fire Fang (-70, 80/210) Farfetch'd used Slash (-70, 90/230) Farfetch'd is hurt by burn (-10, 70/210) Round 3 Growlithe used Fire Fang (-70, 0/210) Farfetch'd has fainted! Julian Malcolm
"Hey there, my name's Helena." The girl spoke with a smile. She blinked a couple times. Still the boy did not respond to her. "Uh... hello?" She waited a few more seconds. "Hey, ignoring people is rude." She stormed up to him and put a hand on his shoulder. Julian jumped, startled, before turning to face her. Growlithe growled at the girl and she backed away. When Julian held up a hand, Growlithe stopped growling. He pulled out his pocket notebook and wrote down 'Sorry, I'm deaf. I can read your lips though.' She looked embarrassed. "Oh, I'm sorry." Julian shrugged like it was no big deal and she continued. "I usually challenge Trainers who come by here, mind a battle?" Julian smiled and nodded his head, this is just what he's been waiting for; a chance to battle and get some much needed experience. The first Pokemon she sent out was a Leafeon, an evolution of Eevee that Julian had never seen before. Umbreon and Espeon looked at the Pokemon curiously. Hopefully after the battle they could get the chance to talk to the Leafeon and see what it's like. "I don't specialize in any one type like most Trainers, I like to have a well rounded team." She explained. Julian waved on Growlithe, who stepped forward. He growled before running towards Leafeon. The elegant enemy easily side-stepped Growlithe's attack and used Magical Leaf. The leaves cut into his Fire-Type Pokemon, but Growlithe shook out his fur and bit down with Fire Fang. It apparently caused a serious burn that only got worse with each Fire Fang that Growlithe used. They were exchanging blows - Leaf Blade and Fire Fang, Razor Leaf and Fire Fang, but the battle nearly ended with Leafeon's final move. "Use our secret weapon, Last Resort!" She demanded, and the blow was so strong that Growlithe was almost sent flying back into the sea. Leafeon raced over to keep on the offensive, but Growlithe ducked the next attack and finished the battle with a Bite attack. TL;DR Leafeon used Magical Leaf (-25, 225/250) Growlithe used Fire Fang (-100, 300/400) Leafeon is hurt by burn (-10, 290/400) Leafeon used Leaf Blade (-40, 185/250) Growlithe used Fire Fang (120, 170/400) Leafeon is hurt by burn (-10, 160/400) Leafeon used Razor Leaf (-15, 170/250) Growlithe used Fire Fang (-120, 40/400) Leafeon is hurt by burn (-10, 30/400) Leafeon used Last Resort (-140, 30/250) Growlithe used Bite (-45, 0/400) Leafeon has fainted! Julian Malcolm Returning Leafeon into it's Pokeball, the Trainer sent out another unique and unfamiliar Eeveelution. This one was apparently called Glaceon, and was adept with Ice-Type moves. Knowing Growlithe couldn't battle much longer even if he wanted to, Julian recalled the fire-hound back into his Pokeball and sent Typhlosion out onto the battlefield. Typhlosion roared loudly, and launched a Fire-Blast attack. Glaceon didn't move, but instead fired back an Ice Shard so powerful it shot straight through the Fire Blast's center and hit Typhlosion in the chest.
Glacen didn't let up either, it used Blizzard and froze Typhlosion solid. Not for long though, the flames erupted from his back and melted the ice enough for him to launch another Fire Blast. The heat from this attack melted the rest of the ice. Glaceon was the one who dove through the flames this time, biting Typhlosion before he knew what was even going on. He voiced his pain, swiping a massive paw at Glaceon who easily dodged it, before using Last Resort just like Leafeon did. Typhlosion stumbled back before droppingto all fours to steady himself.
That was when he used Fire Blast again. Another Ice Shard was met with another Fire Blast, another Bite to another Fire Blast, Typhlosion refused to let up on the heat knowing full-well that Glaceon's icy attack would eventually melt. Just as he expected, Glaceon fell over and shuddered.
TL;DR Glaceon used Ice Shard (-15, 305/320) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 680/880) Glaceon used Blizzard (-50, 255/320) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 480/880) Glaceon used Bite (-45, 210/320) Typhlosion flinched. Glaceon used Last Resort (-140, 70/320) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 280/880) Glaceon used Ice Shard (-15, 55/320) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 80/880) Glaceon used Bite (-45, 10/320) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 0/880) Glaceon has fainted! Julian Malcolm
Even though she was losing, Helena hadn't had this much fun in ages! She didn't even mind sending her Pokemon out first, she'd come close to beating him twice even with their typing being so different and in Julian's favor. Really that was the least of her concerns. Besides if she couldn't beat Pokemon who had an advantage over her own then she didn't stand a chance going up against the Elite Four. With Julian travelling through this region, she assumed he would be familiar with her next Pokemon. However, his expression didn't change when she sent out her Hitmontop.
It was almost like deja-vu when the top got in close, using the same move that the Gym Leader had used. He did it a bit differently, however. He flipped onto his head and started spinning rapidly - each new rotation bringing his dangerous hands and feet into contact with Noctowl. When the owl used Hypnosis, the spinning was thrown off and Hitmontop went flying back onto the sand of the beach. Not caring for the sand himself, Noctowl took to the sky. He began to glow, shooting at Hitmontop like an arrow. The impact was powerful, but not enough. A Dream Eater attack was followed by Psychic after Psychic attack until the top woke up and attacked back!
He used Close Combat again, using his spinning momentum to launch himself into the air repeatedly, each time nailing Noctowl directly with his full spinning body. The final time Hitmontop went air-borne, Noctowl stopped him in place with Psychic and sent him flying into the sand with so much force that sand was sent up into the air and hung there for a few moments. TL;DR Hitmontop used Close Combat (-60, 240/320) Noctowl used Hypnosis. Hitmontop is asleep. Noctowl used Sky Attack (-240, 700/940) Hitmontop is asleep. Noctowl used Dream Eater (-200, 500/940) Noctowl regained some health (+100, 320/320) Hitmontop is asleep. Noctowl used Psychic (-200, 300/940) Hitmontop is asleep. Noctowl used Psychic (-220, 80/940) Hitmontop woke up! Hitmontop used Close Combat (-65, 255/320) Noctowl used Psychic (-220, 0/940) Hitmontop has fainted! Noctowl receives 28 exp.

It still seemed as if she were just having fun. "This next Pokemon is new to my team, I only recently caught him." She tossed a Great Ball into the air, and a Victreebel appeared. It tried to fire off multiple blades of Razor Leaf, but Growlithe's fire shot them all down before they could do any damage. He then rushed in close, biting down and igniting the Fire Fang. Victreebel screamed in pain, and Growlithe actually let go. The problem for Victreebel is that Growlithe only let go to test out his new move; Reversal. It took the damage Growlithe had so far received and sent it at the enemy, and Growlithe had been hurt pretty bad. Growlithe used Fire Fang (-100, 130/230) Victreebel flinched. Growlithe used Reversal (-220, 0/230) Victreebel has fainted! Growlithe receives 9 exp. Despite the expression of what seemed to be the female Trainer giving up early, she still sent out her final Pokemon. It was a Grass-Type, one that Julian didn't know. He did think it looked interesting though. "Your Growlithe looks like a small breeze could knock him over. Leavanny here shouldn't have a problem beating him down." She grinned, and Leavanny jumped into action. The Grass-Type sliced down with one of her arms, but Growlithe barely managed to dodge it and bite her arm. Then fire erupted from his teeth. Fire Fang had hit directly.
Leavanny stumbled back holding her injured arm, but Growlithe was on the hunt. He didn't let up, and chased the Grass-Type down to bite with another Fire Fang attack - this time on the other arm that Leavanny used to shield her face. She panicked, having assumed this would be an easy win, and fired multiple razor-sharp Razor Leaves at Growlithe, but her attack was cut off by her burn flaring up. One more Fire Fang from Growlithe was all it took to win the battle.
TL;DR Growlithe used Fire Fang (-100, 230/330) Leavanni flinched. Growlithe used Fire Fang (-100, 130/330) Leavanni used Razor Leaf (-15, 15/250) Leavanni is hurt by burn (-10, 120/330) Growlithe used Fire Fang (-120, 0/330) Leavanni has fainted! Both Trainers knew that they needed a Pokemon Center. They ran side-by-side through the city - receiving some strange looks from citizens in the process - until they came crashing through the front doors of the CenteLeavannr, breathing heavily and grinning at one another. Once they had both caught their breath, they approached the counter and set their Pokeballs into two separate trays. Nurse Joy smiled at them and took their Pokeballs; she had recognized them both and didn't seem surprised that the pair had ended up battling one another.
Once both of them had received their healed Pokemon, it was time to sit down and have a nice lunch outside. They found some picnic tables in a near-empty park and let out their Pokemon. All of the Pokemon sat around the multiple bowls set out and chowed down. Julian and his new friend had a tray of sandwiches cut into triangles. Rather than eating, Leavanny was hard at work making hats and other clothing for all of her new friends from leaves of nearby trees.

The smell of their lunches had attracted the attention of two wild Pokemon, both of which had jumped up onto the neighboring picnic table. Growlithe jumped up onto the table, and the wild Magnemite tried to rise higher into the air to escape. The problem with that escape plan is, Growlithe could jump just high enough to clamp down with a Fire Fang. Magnemite flinched from the pain, just in time for the fire to flare up again. Magnemite covered itself with an electrical charge; Growlithe yelped out in pain and went falling back to the ground. Electricity began to spark across his body. Magmenite tried to float away, but a burn flared to life and dropped it out of the air.
TL;DR Growlithe used Fire Fang (-100, 110/210) Magnemite flinched. Growlithe used Fire Fang (-100, 10/210) Magnemite used Thunder Shock (-30, 230/260) Magnemite was hurt by burn (-10, 0/210) Magnemite has fainted! Growlithe receives 11 exp.

Growlithe was in no condition to continue the battle with the other wild Pokemon, so Julian had Noctowl connect their minds. Noctowl flew forward, sending a Hypnosis attack towards their enemy. With Meowth deeply asleep now, Noctowl used Psychic attack once, twice, and there wasn't a thing the unconscious Pokemon could do about it. Julian tossed out a Pokeball, and it shook a few times before sealing Meowth inside.
This being a Pokemon he was very familiar with, Julian intended to keep the cat on his permanent team. He said his goodbyes to the fellow Trainer, Leavanny handed everyone their new clothing, and he rushed back to the Pokemon Center to have Growlithe's paralysis dealt with. TL;DR Noctowl used Hypnosis. Meowth is asleep. Noctowl used Psychic (-100, 110/210) Meowth is asleep. Noctowl used Psychic (-110, 0/210) Meowth has fainted! Julian has captured Meowth!

Another Miltank clip-clopped down the street. It was just a pink and chubby as his own. This town must have a Miltank farm nearby; Julian hoped that he didn't steal a Miltank. Weren't they usually captured though, if someone owned them? He just wasn't sure, and he decided to ask whoever looked like they might have an answer. For now, however, he was going to focus on the battle at hand. With a sudden idea in mind, Julian sent out Growlithe and Noctowl.
The owl linked their minds, and Julian relayed his plan. "Miltank are Normal-Type Pokemon. I know you've been hiding a Fighting-Type move from me." How did he know? Because he was in the Pokemon's mind. "I want you to use it." Growlithe nodded, running towards Miltank and using Close Combat. The multiple fighting hits knocked Miltank out instantly.
TL;DR Growlithe used Close Combat (-240, 0/210) Miltank has fainted! Growlithe receives 11 exp.

Julian Malcolm Wondering aimlessly through Olivine City, Julian wondered just what he would come across next. Another wild Pokemon, another Trainer? The possibilities were endless in this world of Pokemon. With Umbreon and Espeon at his side, and Growlithe energetically leading the way, the silent Trainer found himself further into the City's depths than ever before. There was so much to see. It was only a matter of time before something exciting happened. It just so happened to be in the form of the Olivine City Gym. He stood at the front door and stared at it for the longest time. Was he really ready for this? That last Gym Battle had been challenging enough. Taking a deep breath, he pressed forward into the giant steel building. Peering into the room, he was so relieved to see that this room wasn't cloaked in that infernal blanket of darkness. What he did find, however, was pretty interesting. He saw two giant steel platforms with a steel arena set between them. If he had to take a guess, this Gym Leader dealt specially in Steel-Types. A Man in a white uniform was standing on one of the platforms working on the electrical device that raises and lowers the platform itself.
Julian could tell the Scientist noticed him. He could see the guy's lips moving, but he couldn't see what was being said that far away. If only he'd thought to have Noctowl out sooner. The Scientist started gesturing towards the opposite platform, and despite being deaf Julian could take a hint. He had to wait for it to lower back to ground level before stepping on with his twin Eeveelutions and rising up into the air. The Scientist didn't have to send out his Pokemon, there were two Magnemite clamped down to a power box against the far wall. On the Scientist's command, one of them detatched itself and floated over to the battle field. Julian Malcolm So, he was to be pit against a Magnemite. Julian thought for a moment about what the Trainer he'd met had told him. She had a point, if he couldn't beat Trainers with a type advantage, then he didn't stand a chance against this Gym Leader. He threw his Pokeball high into the air. It broke open and Noctowl's wings spread wide. He flew around the battle field to size up both his opponent and surroundings. "Alright, I know this isn't going to be an easy fight, but I need you to put that thing to sleep." Noctowl didn't have to register that he heard, he didn't want to become distracted and open himself up to an attack.
Magnemite struck first. He rose into the air, a cannonball ready to strike. It was a Spark attack, and the electricity nearly sent Noctowl falling to the ground. He caught himself in just enough time to spread his wings and land a bit less roughly than he might have. Noctowl's eyes began to glow, and Magnemite fell out of the air. Seeing that Noctowl was hurt, the time for experimentation was over. He recalled Noctowl and sent out Typhlosion. With an unconscious target, Typhlosion launched a first and then second Fire Blast that hit in succession. It wasn't likely that even a Steelix could survive that.
TL;DR Magnemite used Spark (-100, 230/330) Noctowl used Hypnosis. Julian recalled Noctowl. Julian sent out Typhlosion. Magnemite is asleep. Magnemite is asleep. Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 180/380) Magnemite is asleep. Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 0/380) Magnemite has fainted. Noctowl and Typhlosion split 17 exp. Julian Malcolm Yes! That was one Pokemon down. Just how many were they going to have to deal with though? Up until now, each Gym Trainer has only had a couple of Pokemon each. He was worried that since this was the sixth of eight Gyms thus far, things would start to get a bit more challenging. The second Magnemite detatched itself from the energy source and levitated over towards the battle field. Again, the Trainer was saying something but Julian couldn't tell any specific details or words.
Julian recalled Typhlosion and sent out Growlithe. Julian had decided, this wasn't the time to be playing games or testing theory. Magnemite didn't hold back the next attack, an Electro Ball formed from the dual magnets on either side of the artificial Pokemon. Growlithe spit two identical streams of fire, only to be met with a second Elecrto Ball. Growlithe jumped up, biting down on the magnet to initiate a Fire Fang attack. Both Magnemite and Growlithe fell from the air to land on the ground. Growlithe shook Magnemite's motionless body around until the Scientist recalled his Pokemon.
TL;DR Magnemite used Electro Ball (-60, 200/260) Growlithe used Flame Thrower (-160, 260/420) Magnemite used Electro Ball (-60, 140/260) Growlithe used Flamethrower (-160, 100/420) Magnemite used Elecrto Ball (-60, 80/260) Growlithe used Fire Fang (-100, 0/420) Magnemite has fainted! Julian Malcolm That Gym Trainer seemed somewhat upset, but Julian couldn't focus on that now. He watched another Trainer walk out and step onto the platform to replace the first. He was almost identical to the first, down to the white labcoat and thick glasses. It was a bit trippy. He sent out a Magnemite and it's evolved form; Magneton. The Magneton quickly went to charge itself while the smaller Magnemite hovered over the pure steel battle arena. Julian healed his Pokemon before sending Growlithe back out onto the steel stage.
Magnemite used Metal Sound, only to be met with a Flamethrower attack. The stream of fire encompassed the Steel-Type Pokemon, and he used Gyro Ball after Gyro Ball attack; one after the other. To stop the onslought of attacks, Growlithe launched a steady stream of fire until Magnemite was recalled in a stream of red energy.
TL;DR Magnemite used Metal Sound. Growlithe used Flamethrower (-160, 260/420) Magnemite used Gyro Ball (-35, 245/280) Growlithe used Flamethrower (-160, 100/420) Magnemite used Gyro Ball (-35, 210/280) Growlithe used Flamethrower (-160, 0/420) Magnemite has fainted! Julian Malcolm The Magneton detatched itself, having absorbed all the power it needed. Julian knew this was going to be far more difficult than any challenge he's faced yet. The trio of magnetized Pokemon rotated around one another while on the battle field. Julian tossed out a Pokeball, and Tank appeared stomping his heavy feet. Their rotations got faster, until streaks of red, blue, and yellow began to arc around it. Suddenly it stopped, and launched a multi-colored attack. The Tri-Attack hit tank directly in his middle head, and he was sent toppling over backwards. Whoa, what a hit...
He struggled back into a sitting position, using Hypnosis to put the enemy to sleep. Knowing it would take too long for Tank to get back up, Julian recalled him and sent out Typhlosion again. He was on all fours, the flame on his back erupting full-force to superheat one Fire Blast attack and then a second. Each one sent Magneton tumbling further away, until it rose up into the air and started spinning again. It launched another Tri-Attack that hit Typhlosion. He roared in anger, then fired one final Fire Blast to secure the victory. TL;DR Round 1 Magneton used Tri-Attack (-80, 150/230) Tank used Hypnosis. Round 2 Julian recalled Tank. Julian sent out Typhlosion. Magneton is fast asleep. Round 3 Magneton is fast asleep. Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 220/420) Round 4 Magneton is fast asleep. Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 20/420) Round 5 Magneton used Tri-Attack (-80, 240/320) Typhlosion used Fire Blast (-200, 0/420) Magneton has fainted! Typhlosion and Tank split 20 exp. Items - Pokeball (x), Potion (x), Full Restore (3), Revive (4), Max Revive (3), Lava Cookie (3), Blue Flute, Black Flute, Questionable Drink, Fire Stone. Hold Items - Rocky Helmet, Safety Goggles, Wide Lens. Key Items - Pokedex, Vs Seeker, Old Rod, Good Rod.
