Moving north off the coast of Mossdeep City, a protrusion from the ocean sits in a shallow part of the sea water known as the Shoal Cave. From the outside, it is always looked over because it doesn't look that big, but moving inside through the only opening on the south side of the cave, it is in itself an entire ecosystem. The Shoal Cave was carved into the side of an underwater mountain through hundreds of years of sea water washing away at the insides due to the harsh tides that move through this shallow part of the ocean. The cave is dangerous to traverse because of these tides, for when it is time for the low tide, a series of caves and caverns are accessible on foot, but when the high tide comes back in, these caves and caverns fill back up with water, making it very easy for someone to get trapped or for someone to even drown if they weren't aware of the tide schedule.
