JASPER COLE BAD COMPANY I CAN'T DENY BAD, BAD COMPANY 'TIL THE DAY I DIE UNTIL THE DAY I DIE Jasper scowled at the Gym Leader. What did this nerd know, who was she to lecture him on how to battle his Pokemon. "Gee, sure didn't look like I had any trouble beating you." He snapped, after having taken his rewards. Among being told what she thought he was doing wrong, she had also told him no. Bad things tended to happen to those who told him no. His allies were already preparing to spring on her, but he held up a hand. "She's not worth it." He sneered down at her. "Imagine not even knowing about Ultra Beasts." He laughed, then turned his back on her to leave.
"She's not smart enough to be any help." He was trying to hit her right where it hurt - her pride. Jasper had always been one who could read people well - those he could manipulate and those he just had to put down before he could get what he wanted. All his Pokemon returned, the three of them left, ignoring anything she might say (which to this point and throughout the battle had successfully flustered her as he'd intended).
Their first stop was to be the Pokemon Center. He had his Pokemon tended to while the three of them sat in the waiting room discussing their plans. "I don't care how many people come through this shit City, she was here." He told them. "She's too adventurous not to take up these stupid Gym Leader Trials." He obviously believed they were the same as the Alolan Trials that he'd grown up knowing. "She used to drone on, and on, and on about how she wanted to do those stupid trials." He tried to think what else he might have heard her say that could point them in the right direction. "She'll spend a lot of time in nature."
He got up and walked over to the Nurse. "Excuse me." He said, his polite tone turned right back on. "We're wilderness explorers, and we heard there are lots of Caves and places to explore in Hoenn. Could you tell me how to get to them?" He asked her, and she didn't see any harm in telling them about the Meteor Falls, Granite Cave, or the abandoned New Mauville. He could cross that off, she would dread being confined sixty-nine manmade floors underground. The caves, she had to be at one of them - but which one?! The way she described them, Meteor Falls was a beautiful place. Just the sort of sentimental drivel she would love.
When he returned, Rex and Lucky noted the triumphant grin on his face. "Guess what, Boys." He said, and when they merely looked lost he continued. "We're going cave diving."

Katie Du'Mont♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Katie and her team walked through the forest in the direction of Rustboro City. She had successfully helped the lady and passed her mission, even if it wasn't in the way she had planned. She was just excited to get out of here and put the crazy stuff behind her. However, before she could leave, Katie decided that this Pokemon needed someone to keep an eye on it. If not, who knew what it might get up to on it's own? So she battled it. Buizel made short work of the Pokemon with Blizzard. It tried to redirect the attack through a portal and send it back, but Buizel moved slightly so that it barely hit him and still swept over Hoopa in the end. It was clear that Hoopa was going to need some practice before it mastered the skill of it's portals.
The City skyline in the afternoon sun was beautiful. She couldn't help enjoy the walk when she had that to guide her. She wondered briefly if the portal Pokemon could have transported them all there to save some time but decided she didn't trust the portals enough to go through one herself. In truth, they sort of scared her. They were an unknown entity and she preferred the safety of what was known. Perhaps one day... but this was not that day.
Of course there was no sign to hint that she was again coming so close to those she wanted to avoid. If she had any idea, she might very well be in Kanto by now. She entered the town as the sun was finally disappearing over the horizon. She made a quick stop at the Pokemon Center. Neither Katie, nor the Nurse had ever heard of Hoopa's legend, so they both just assumed it was another Pokemon. Nurse Joy restored the health of all of the visitor's Pokemon and gave them a room for the night. Buizel used Blizzard (-100, 50/150) Hoopa used Hyperspace Hole (-80, 90/170) Buizel used Blizzard (-100, 0/150) Hoopa has fainted! Katie has captured Hoopa!

Katie Du'Mont♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ The next morning was bright and warm. Katie woke to the sound of birds outside her window. The bed was comfortable, much more comfortable than it had been the night before when she'd tried getting to sleep. It hadn't been an easy task, but now the sleep-stage did not seem to want to let her go. Buizel was curled up at her feet which she allowed because she acted as a sort of space heater, and Rowlet was perched on top of the wardrobe. None of them really wanted to get up.
Katie yawned and sat up about ten minutes later. Though comfortable, she hadn't let herself fall back to sleep. She decided to let her Pokemon get some more rest, but brought Hoopa out of the Pokeball it was contained in. "Let's go find some breakfast." She suggested, and when the Pokemon nodded eagerly they set off from their room to find a place to eat. There weren't many options but she found a fast food joint and ordered enough breakfast food for all of them.
Hoopa had eagerly made to help by conjuring food of his own, but Katie had stopped him before he could. "We can't just take food without paying for it, that wouldn't be right. People work hard to make that food." She could tell Hoopa had no concept of stealing, but she would work on that and the Pokemon would get there in the end. She just hoped they didn't get arrested for shoplifting before it did. She had been wearing a pair of those stolen clothes from the day before, but most of the clothes she'd made Hoopa send back with a bit of money for the ones she kept. Hopefully they would understand that it was a mistake.

Katie Du'Mont♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪
Katie and Hoopa had gone off in search of breakfast, but the rest of her Pokemon had been left behind. Rowlet woke up, blinking slowly before it registered that Katie was gone! It began to panic. It tried to wake up Buizel by hooting loudly and flapping his wings, but the otter was too fast asleep to be disturbed. Rowlet then flew down to Katie's bag and pecked one of the Pokeballs which let out Aipom. After a brief discussion both Pokemon agreed to go off in search of her. Aipom's very useful tail managed to open the window. They both used that to escape the room and go in search of her.
It would only be about a minute later before Katie and Hoopa returned to the room. The Trainer did not immediately register that anything was wrong, but when she let out all of her Pokemon for breakfast she quickly realized that two of her Pokemon were missing. "Now where could they have gotten off to?" She wondered aloud. Then she spotted the open window. "Oh no..." She raced to the window and stuck her head out, calling for Buizel and Aipom.
Unfortunately they were both too far away to hear her. They had somehow managed to get a few blocks away in a matter of minutes. The pair could cover a lot of ground when they wanted to, but they did not find their Trainer. They did, however, mistakenly bother a blonde Stranger they had thought was Katie from behind. However, they learned their mistake quickly enough when the girl turned around, spotted them, and screamed. What was her problem?! Both Rowlet and Aipom backed away in surprise. They turned on the spot and ran... right through a portal which had appeared behind them. Backpack

Katie Du'Mont♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ When both Pokemon came running into the Pokemon Center room, they crashed into the back of Katie's legs. As Rowlet lead by a sharp and pointy beak, it was rather painful. She limped to her bed while Rowlet looked after her apologetically and she wrapped up the injury. At this rate she was going to end up in a full body cast within the month! Unfortunately the new Ranger Uniform she'd had delivered overnight to the Pokemon Center did not have long enough shorts to cover the bandages, so she would just have to wear her wound like a badge of honor.
Perhaps she would come up with some dramatic way she'd come across the injury involving Team Aqua and a stolen Pokemon, a chase through the Woods, and a battle for the Pokemon's freedom... or perhaps not. Hopefully nobody would ask about it. She returned all of her Pokemon besides Hoopa and Rowlet. Letting the owl fly around with her as she traveled would hopefully show that she was not upset with him. Hoopa, meanwhile, she wanted to watch and learn more about. Something about the Pokemon intrigued her.
So she limped on out of town. She made it further than she thought but eventually had to stop just on the edge of town limits for a rest. She ate some of the leftover breakfast food to keep her energy up, but all that did was make her want to take a little nap. She shook her head though in an attempt to clear it. Now wasn't the time, and this wasn't the place for that. The last thing she needed was to wake up to some unsavory characters leering down at her. With that thought in mind, she stood up and pushed herself onward.

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ At the tone which signaled an incoming message on her styler, Katie looked down at the now-familiar device on her wrist. She clicked the notification and it opened up into a grand and formal looking invitation. She read it a few times, surprised that it had been sent to her. She hadn't accomplished anything as a Trainer, but she had already helped multiple people as a Ranger. Apparently she had been shortlisted to have earned the invite.
She smiled at Hoopa who had been reading the message over her shoulder. In the time it took her to read it a few times, he had managed to read it once. "Hoopa want to dance!" The Pokemon exclaimed. It was rather excited at the idea. She considered this while returning all of her Pokemon except Hoopa. Well, if she was going to accept an invitation to a ball, then she needed a gown. The idea of the tall blonde in a ball gown almost made her laugh. She wasn't much of a girly-girl.
Still, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and she couldn't shake the idea of getting to experience it. "You know what, maybe we do deserve a bit of fun." She told the floating Pokemon beside her. "I've lived in fear, running from my past. Problems always catch up to you." She lead the way into the City looking for a dress shop. She had almost given up hope of finding one when it came into view at the end of the street. A little bell over the door tinkled when she walked in, and she was immediately set upon by a helpful associate.

Nicolai "Servo" DakariThe remaining walk through the petalburg woods was... Well, boring. Nick continued his ever vigilant and yet vain quest to maintain complete spatial awareness as he always did, though it was hardly successful or required. Flux slept for most of the trip, the little ditto hanging out of her trainer's shirt, spilled over the front like some ice cream the man's mouth had missed entirely. Quanta merely followed along beside the pair, its mind drifting as it often did in downtime to intricate mathematical equations. The Porygon was aware that it was one of the few Pokemon that could survive in the vacuum of space, and as such, it felt compelled to work out the complexities of space travel should the opportunity ever arise. By the time the trio finally arrived in the city of Rustboro, it was apparent that Even the redheaded man and his eternal vigil had faltered, his head snapping back to reality as he nearly tripped when the ground gave way to a slightly elevated pavement. "Well then." He muttered, smoothing his suit out and casting his hungry eyes over the structures that lay before them. This place was actually the second gym Nick had intended to visit - but given its close proximity and the fact that he felt an overwhelming urge to discover what it was that was on the encrypted drive he had been gifted, it would have to serve two purposes at once. The man hated backtracking. With a whimper, flux's arms wiggled in what could only be a post-nap stretch, her formless arm slithering over her face to wipe a bit of drool that had slipped forth and regrettably onto Nicolai's uniform. On realizing this, the ditto reddened, or rather, turned a brighter shade of pink, attempting to wipe the spittle from her master's outfit while passing it off as excitement that they had arrived in a new town. "Alright, we have work to do."
He stated, glancing sidelong at Quanta who nodded in agreement. The Porygon didn't feel emotion most of the time. When it did, it studied it only to isolate and then discard it as a system glitch presumed to be the result of imperfect programming by the scientists that had created Porygon. Why would a machine need to feel? That only served to distract the creature. Still, every now and again in the moment - the slight construct that was the emotional response from Quanta wasn't entirely unwelcome. It 'felt' good. This was certain to be one of those moments. For a humanoid, Quanta found Nicolai to be a suitable trainer- one who shared a surprising amount of things in common with a living data stream. For example, Both of them were driven to whatever task they set themselves to, and both were unable to resist a mystery. This was what had allowed Quanta to indulge the redhead even on his... Less than pleasant days. Craning it's jagged head to one side when Nicolai produced the data disk, Quanta 'felt' something it had long ago classified as excitement. Even at a glance, the Pokemon knew this particular drive would be terribly difficult to break down and decipher. And this was a more than welcome change of pace from the paultry security systems that his trainer had him deal with on a regular basis. "Finally. A challenge." Quanta surmised in its strange voice, floating close enough to examine the outstretched disk. Not for the first time, or even the first time that day - did Quanta begin to calculate both how many times it wished it possessed arms, and why it was that the scientists that created it neglected to see such an obvious error in physiology. "The only question is whether or not we decipher the disk first, or take down the gym leader. I don't want to dawdle here... But splitting up and not having you for the gym challenge would present an issue so we need to move together for now." The Porygon didn't bother to verbally reply, though its eyes remained on the disk long enough to make it clear that discovering whatever was on that disk was probably more important than some silly battle for a pin. As if on cue, however, Flux plopped to the ground and raised her limber body up as high as it would go, flexing her arms and making a face that clearly said she wanted to fight. If it was a gym battle there was no way her master would let Quanta take all the limelight - in fact, she had every intention of taking the entire challenge herself since it would be Quanta who got the glory for whatever computer stuff it was gonna get to do. "We fight! We fight!" She cheered, even as she cast several looks around and then began to rapidly take shape into her mundane human form. From here on out she would be walking so there was little reason to remain legless! Nicolai "Servo" DakariThe sun was high overhead, no object cast even a single shadow. Along the sidewalk, facing each other from no more than 10 paces away they stood, staring one another down cooly as an empty soda cup, caught just right by the wind, blew up, and over the lip of the pavement between them. For several moments all was still, all was silent- save for some strange, sharply whistled tune echoing in the minds of all present. Then, on some cue known only between honorable gunslingers of old, the two combatants sprang into action! Fast as lightning they drew, and even faster did they charge one another, clashing like titans and knowing only one of them would leave this duel alive... "Okay you two, knock it off - we are not here to play games." Nicolai growled, the statement causing the Ditto and porygon on the sidewalk to freeze in a rather awkward position on the ground. Flux, in her human form, had her eyes swivel back and forth a few times innocently before slapping Quanta one last time on the top of its head. The Porygon, much more heedful of its master's warning, merely shot Flux an angry glare before floating away from her female form. The redhead in the black suit merely rolled his eyes at their antics. You didn't need to speak the language of Pokemon to know why they were arguing. Flux was determined to fight at the gym, something Nick found a bit odd since the Ditto wasn't especially cut out for direct conflict, nor had she shown any special interest in it in the past. Meanwhile, it was clear that Quanta was perhaps the only being on the planet more interested to determine the contents of that encrypted disk than Nicolai himself was. For most people, this would have been a 'flip a coin' type of situation. Nick himself wanted to do both things. However, letting his Pokemon have a say in the decision or see his indecisiveness was not something he could tolerate. So he began to weigh his options in the middle of the street there, both of his partners staring at him in anticipation of his decision. In the end, Quanta hung its head in sadness while Flux jumped up and down on her human legs, whooping and pumping her fist before a glare from nick caused her to cover her mouth. She always seemed to forget that no matter her human shape, she still spoke like ditto. "Quanta. Believe me, I am more curious to find out what exactly this data contains than you could ever know. However, given our past encounters with that trickster Pokemon, it is just as likely to contain some type of trick or virus - or maybe something simply irrelevant to our quest. And if that wasn't enough reason to put it as our secondary objective, we need to keep in mind that we could end up in trouble if we get caught toying with someone else's advanced hardware. I would very much like to avoid being chased out of town until after I have acquired my first gym badge. It would be problematic otherwise." His reasoning finished, Quanta seemed to process and confirm his human counterpart's reasoning and provided a simple nod in return. It was... What was the emotion called? Frustrating? It was frustrating not to get one's own way in these matters, but as usual, Quanta found himself agreeing with the logical conclusion Nicolai had drawn. "Let us proceed then." Quanta offered, though Flux had already triumphantly begun walking off on her own, only to have Nicolai reach out and snatch her by the collar. "Wrong way. You need to pay attention Flux. I would have to have to retrain you." The statement caused the shapeshifter Pokemon to swallow hard, turning and falling into line behind her trainer as Quanta produced as close to a chuckle as it was capable. Emotions were strange, but satisfaction was something even data constructs could understand. Nicolai "Servo" DakariRustboro was surprisingly larger than Nicolai Dakari had anticipated. This both frustrated and amused the male who walked around, seemingly oblivious to the stares he was getting. He had studied this entire region very thoroughly and mapped out most of its major cities, especially those with particular points of interest or gym badges for the taking. Knowledge was power. As they stopped at a major intersection, the redhead made a mental note to double up on his research once they had a peaceful night between towns. Although it was quite possible that this particular town had simply experienced a boon in the form of economic growth - which would drastically alter its size and structure in a short period, the male found that some things from his childhood still ached away at his soul. One of these things was any feeling of being lost. Looking around for landmarks that he had noted, landmarks that definitely wouldn't have vanished in the time between his research and now - he sighed with relief when he located the large building that was obviously his secondary target. The devon corporate headquarters stood a short walk from his current location. Even had he not needed to borrow their lab to decrypt the contents of his mystery gift, he was not ashamed to admit that taking a tour would not have been beyond him. He would never be a scientist, that childish dream of saving the world with technological miracles was now quite beyond his grasp. Yet watching others work this magic had always been something he enjoyed. Besides, with his level of constant study, he had ended up with a vast ocean of partial knowledge on everything from microbiology to astrophysics. "Not enough to be useful." He muttered, quickly reminding himself that it was more than enough for his current line of work. With a change of clothing and a warm smile, he could fool the masses for a time - a skill that came in handy when you needed to sneak into just about anywhere with anything truly worth taking. A sudden tap on his shoulder caused the man to crane his neck back and peer at Flux curiously. The ditto leaned forward and murmured - "There is a group of girls to your left who are either really into you or making fun of you master. Should I dispatch them from this world?" She offered, inconspicuously pointing to said a group of three women on the opposite side of the street. Sometimes she would have traded even her ability to turn into a pidgey and fly for Nicolai to understand her. This was not one of those times, as had he truly understood what she had said - he would have scolded her immediately. As it stood he got only the gist of her statement and casually swept his eyes in their general direction, noting that they went silent rather quickly when his blue hues flitted over them only to resume their hushed tones once his direct gaze had passed. "Not to worry, they aren't a threat." He mused casually, casting a quick glance down at the special forces suit he wore. The man was dedicated to his work, so much so that he had worn things that no sane man would possibly dawn and expect to keep their pride intact. Blending in was a key element to successful infiltration operations. But that was only when the job called for such a getup. He was well aware they were noting his odd apparel and most likely discussing either what military he was from, or how many different ways he simply looked silly. With a smirk, Nick found pride in himself knowing that he couldn't have cared less what people thought. This was the only uniform he needed and he would wear it until his job was done, or he wound up dead - the latter providing him the opportunity to wear it to whatever afterlife Arceus had in store for people like him. Lifting his gaze from the black outfit and complementary ensemble of belts, boot ties, and gadgets hidden amongst his form- he returned his attention to the city itself, his eyes immediately finding that which he had been rather bothered to not have seen before. "The gym." He stated only to Flux now, a tinge of regret in the fact that he had returned Quanta to its ball a few minutes prior when it seemed his two partners would clash again in another silly feud. That meant Quanta couldn't float overhead and act as a compass, and while this was a minor inconvenience the man knew that trying to stuff Flux into a Pokeball was paramount to insanity. "Let's get going. Try not to wear yourself out before the battle but stay alert. This is our debut for the Hoenn region so let us show them what Kanto's number one can really do Flux."Trainer Encounter: 25/25 Wild Encounter: 25/5 Item posting - vs seeker 6/30 Jaw fossil - 14/50 Inventory:- Infinite Pokeballs, Infinite Potions, Pokedex, x1 ampharosite, x1 aggronite x1 metal powder, x1 Metal coat, specific lure, x1 expired candy, x1 fancy candy, x1 rare candy, x1 poison barb, x1 fan plug, x1 heat plug, x1 wash plug {Spoiler}{Pokemon Team} "Quanta" Porygon - Genderless Height:2'07" Weight:80.5 lbs Lv.21 hp - 170 exp: 23/30 Ability: Download - If opponents defense/sp defense is decreased, this Pokemon's attack or special attack will rise one stage respectively (type effectiveness not included) Barrier: raises users defense by two stages Sharpen: Raises user's attack by one stage. Nicolai "Servo" DakariNicolai climbed the steps of the Rustboro gym with his back just a little straight, chin held a little higher, and chest puffed out just a smidge. Of course, this was all just nonsense, the gym challenge was simply a way to gain access to the region, to find the information he sought. 'To lure him out from hiding.' The man paused at the entryway, his gaze seeing something beyond the facility before him for just a moment. It faded as quickly as it had come, one of his hands slipping from the pockets on his uniform, his fingers curling around the large, sturdy handle. "Flux..." He stated. the human-shaped ditto behind him who had been twirling a strand of her hair in a clearly nervous fashion seemed to jump in surprise, falling into step beside the man and casting a questioning gaze his way. Nicolai paused again, though this time in thought. What had he wanted to say? Don't fail me? You'd better win? He entertained several different statements to frighten the ditto into a good performance. She knew when he was serious things needed to be done. By the time he had finally settled on something, Flux looked ready to meltdown and die beside him. She was nervous, even Nicolai could see that. Carefully he patted her shoulder as his expression hardened. "Do your best." With that he pulled the door open and stepped inside, the disguised ditto behind him remaining still with her mouth half agape. Clearly she had expected something closer to a threat. Placing her palm on the shoulder he had touched, Flux reddened just a touch and then walked in after Nick, her form just a little more relaxed now. Not three minutes into their entry, a young man stepped out to greet them. After introducing himself as Tommy and putting on a bit of bravado Nick knew to be associated with most Gym trainers if his research was to be believed - the boy explained that in order to face the leader of Rustboro city, they would first need to pass a battle test against him. This was in no way a surprise to Nick who merely nodded first to Tommy and then to Flux who stepped forward between her trainer and the young boy. For several long moments, the child trainer stood in utter confusion, his Geodude by his side looking every bit as baffled as its trainer. This drew just the barest hint of a sinister smile from Nicolai. He did not usually partake in shenanigans but the tradition of faking people out by pitting Pokemon against human was something he had rather grown to enjoy. "That'll be all Flux. Take its form and take it down." Before the boy or his Geodude could even shake the shock from their faces, Flux had melted down into an exact replica of its opponent. Clearly, like many people - The one named Tommy had never seen ditto in person. 'This fight is already over. I can only hope the leader is as easy a takedown as this one will be.'Nicolai Dakari's Ditto vs Trainer Tommy's Geodude Round 1 Ditto's Imposter activates Ditto is loafing around! As Tommy conceded and knelt beside his partner, ensuring that the poor Geodude was still alive, Nicolai stood silently as what appeared to be the calm, professional victor of his first Pokemon battle in the Hoenn region. Unless you happened to be close enough to see the small twitch of his left eye. That battle had been... Awkward. Nicolai had a vast array of knowledge on Pokemon and Geodude weren't exactly rare specimens in Kanto. However, he had chosen to leave this battle entirely up to flux which, in hindsight, had been a horrible idea with an even more horrifying outcome. Flux remained in the form of the Rock Pokemon, wincing and rubbing her stony head despite giving Nicolai a forced thumbs up at the battle's conclusion. Sure, she had won the fight but... Watching two rocks curl themselves up and roll into each other repeatedly had in no way been how the man had envisioned his first fight to go. It was almost cartoonish in nature. 'This is what happens when you let a ditto fight for itself.' He thought with a shake of his head, one that caused Flux to seemingly deflate. Had she done something wrong? She'd won, hadn't she? And she hadn't even begun to really dig into her reserves! She could still fight. "Did I... Did I do it wrong? did we lose?" She asked, causing her trainer to step forward and take a knee beside her. He immediately removed the rocky hand from her head to inspect the damage that had been done before taking the standard Potion from his belt and spraying a bit of the chemical onto her. "Well done Flux. Next time try to keep in mind that we have used earthquake before. That would have been a more effective victory." No matter how calmly he stated it, Flux had to physically restrain herself from allowing tears to well up - and they were not from the application of Potion. With a nod, she slowly reverted to her brunette humanoid form and rose to her full height, giving the still tender spot on her forehead one last touch before setting her expression to one of resolve and nodding at the redhead. "I'll do better this time." Flux said in such a way that it was quite possible she was trying to rewrite the fabric of the universe to ensure her statement rang true. Once Tommy had sprayed his own Geodude down and pointed them down beyond him, the pair stepped forth to the area where they would no doubt find the real target of their visit to Rustboro. On seeing the trainer who most certainly was the gym leader - Nicolai squinted a bit to take her in, then immediately released Quanta and applied a potion to the cybernetic Pokemon as well. He already knew her by name but it was obvious she wasn't going to be as simple as Tommy had been- "Hoenn Gym Leader Roxanne. I have come to challenge you for the honor of Kanto and the right to wear the Stone badge."White Prince Of Wonderland (I want to apologize for not following the proper battle procedures, I have only ever done 2 battles in HL before and it has been over a year. SorukaNyokiLeader RoxanneRoxanne had sat herself down in the back of the gym, away from the battle field, perched on a rock formation that jetted out of the ground. It almost looked as though she had it created with her Pokémon as a place for her to sit and read. She did have a book sitting open in her lap, having started reading and was about half way through. However, her hand held the book open, but her eyes and focus was forward on the battle field. Normally she was able to read through and ignore the battles with Tommy. It wasn't that she found them boring, its just seeing the Pokémon ahead of time doesn't change how she would battle in the moment. But seeing the Pokémon shift from a person really grabbed her attention. She definitely did not see that every day. She had to a bit of thinking and calculating through all of the Pokémon that could shift. She thought about Ditto, Zorua, and then maybe a psychic type. But as soon as the rollouts started she was able to figure out it was a Ditto. The battle, of course, went as expected to her once she figured it out. She was fairly by the book, so she assumed this was how a battle between technically two geodudes would go. It still was fascinating to see a Ditto work. The battle was over fairly quickly, but she wasn't able to hear the challenger speak. He moved past Tommy, and declared his challenge. She closed her book and hopped down from her perch. She straightened the skirt of her dress and smiled to the male. "I accept your challenge, and I'm excited to see what this battle has in store." She explained to him with a calm tone. She began to walk forward to her mark on the battle field, where she was able to really get a look of the male. He had striking red hair, and a very interesting fashion sense. This was going to be an interesting battle. She pulled out a Pokeball and let out her own Geodude. "Lets get this battle started." She spoke with a smile, as her Geodude moved to the center of the field. Nicolai "Servo" DakariAs the gym leader approached and acknowledged him, Nicolai couldn't help but smirk. It wasn't his ego that caused the expression though. For one, now that he could see her up close she looked... Well, she looked like Flux in her human form, except with longer hair and a much more distinct expression. The other reason he smiled was not something he could quite place his finger on. Excitement perhaps? Anticipation? This confused the male visibly since he knew that this was only a stepping stone towards something greater. Besides, the redhead in the black suit had preformed battle many times so why was this so different? While he pondered something so irrelevant, Flux took one bold step towards the Geodude, snapping Nicolai from his thoughts and causing him to place a hand onto her shoulder. 'Now isn't the time for a mental debate' He thought, shaking his head when Flux peered back at him in dismay. He needed to be calm. He needed to focus. And most importantly, he needed to not watch another two Geodude's ram into each other. "Not yet. Let's let Quanta have a go first." The brown-haired woman (pokemon) frowned, still looking unconvinced and causing Nicolai to add in a more firm voice. "That is an order flux." The ditto crossed her arms and scoffed, but stepped back all the same even as both Nicolai and his Porygon mirrored the gym leader and stepped to the opposite mark on the battlefield. "As you wish, Roxanne of Rustboro. Let's see what Hoenn has to offer. Quanta - Run Auto Defense dot exe. Prepare to engage."Quanta ran through presets of battle determined by Nicolai in the weeks prior to the beginning of their journey, happy that it quickly found the maneuver for which its trainer spoke. "I will endeavor to my best Mr. Dakari." It spoke, zipping to the middle of the arena to meet the geodude. Once there, Quanta's head began to tilt back and forth, studying the rock type Pokemon before focusing intensely as a spherical defense matrix encircled it. SorukaNyokiLeader RoxanneThe brunette watched as the challenger seemed to send the female forward, the female that had just battled. She was eager to battle a ditto, she hadn't gotten to battle one, at least not in a very very long time. It would be a great learning experience getting to battle a Ditto, especially from one talented enough to form into a human. The Pokémon stepped forward, only to be called back by the red headed challenger. She couldn't exactly hear everything that was said, but it was clear the hesitant of the returning of the Pokémon. She was curious to see the Pokémon he would use instead, seeing what kind of trainer he might be. The next Pokémon was just as unique as the last. Her eyes widened for a moment. Now one of these she hadn't gotten to battle before. An interested smile grew on her face as the porygon zoomed across the field. She looked to the male as he offered to see what Hoenn had to offer. It was becoming clear to her that even if he was new to Hoenn league, he wasn't new to training. She could only assume he was a trainer back in Kanto, based off of what he had said prior. "I look forward to see what Kanto has to offer." She responded. She was younger then he was, but she fairly intelligent. Granted, she had no idea just how intelligent the challenger was, but she was starting to see he might make for a great battle. He started off with Porygon using Barrier. "Alright, lets see how strong that barrier is. Geodude, use Magnitude!" She called out. Her Geodude had taken a moment to also look over her opponent, just not as efficiently as the program had. The way it spoke and moved distracted the rock, but at the command Geodude shook it off. The rock turned down, facing the ground, and began rapidly punching the ground. Shortly after the ground began to vibrate then quake as rocks began to jet out of the ground in Quanta's direction. (Since this is your first gym battle, I'll roleplay it out in full. But after this battle you can opt to roleplay it out yourself or if you want one of us to roleplay it out. Also, Is Quinta at 100 hp?) Nicolai stood with his arms folded over his chest. He was giving Quanta no direction aside from the one at the start of the battle. There was little need. Unlike Flux, who desperately needed commanding during a fight - Quanta was entirely logical in nature. It understood tactics both in combat and in stealth. As such, much of his time had been dedicated to helping pre-program the little Porygon prior to ever beginning his challenge here in the Hoenn region. Now as he stood, sharp blue eyes watching the two combatants go back and forth, the ex-rocket member in the black suit realized that his efforts in doing so actually could work even more to his benefit than he previously realized. Since he didn't need to command flux, this left him free to observe the battle more distantly, and beyond that - his human opponent as well. Her surprise at seeing the ditto had not gone unnoticed. Perhaps if he could distract her as well the odds could swing even more in his direction than he fancied they already were. "I take it you approve of my little Porygon, Miss Roxanne? It's rare in nature so I hope you enjoy the show." No sooner had he finished his statement than Quanta came rolling back through the air, its barrier still intact even while it was clear that the seismic attack had rattled Quanta some. Time to put his plan into motion. With a smirk, Nicolai took a step away from his end of the arena, never taking his eyes off of Roxanne even when a strange light began to emit from the nose of his Porygon and build. The male reached up and began to adjust his goggles seemingly in an absent fashion. Quanta's move set was much more efficient in his day to day activities. Speed and endurance were favorable for getting in and out in one piece with what you needed. That being said, sometimes you had to blast your way out. "Did you know Porygon's incredible intelligence and ability to download data allows it to mimic several very distinct types of elemental attacks in spite of it being a normal Pokemon?" Whether it was obvious he was attempting to distract the woman or whether it was even working didn't much matter to Nick. No, even on the smallest of levels - every human fell pray to the subconscious whims of diversion in some capacity. "It is really quite remarkable to see a Porygon capable of using electricity, ice, and even dark type moves. Techniques like Psybeam are really just basic when you think about it." Again, on cue, the beam of strange psychic energy Porygon had been building poured out like a small stream of water directly into the rock type pokemon. He would have his badge today.

SorukaNyokiLeader RoxanneRoxanne watched the Porygon take the blow. She could tell the barrier took the brunt of the attack, but it was enough to damage the program. The male seemed pretty relaxed and calm through out the battle, not really even batting an eye at her attack. She wasn't any body linguist, but she was suspicious of just how relaxed he seemed. Not of his behavior, but for what he was planning. Roxanne had already decided in her mind that he was some from of seasoned trainer from Kanto, so he had to know what he was doing. He spoke to her, questioning if she 'approved' of his Porygon, and that they were indeed rare. Some trainers were fairly talkative through battles, while others took them very seriously. So she wasn't exactly too suspicious of the comment. " I approve of any Pokemon well taken care of. It's just not every day you see a Porygon, especially get to battle one." She commented stepping back a single step back broadening her stance, placing her a hand on her hip. " I believe you can learn something from every battle. I'll enjoy learning form this one." She stated in a friendly tone. She was a teacher, so her eagerness wasn't exactly directed at the challenger but at the battle, which also fueled her competitive nature. Geodude was still sizing up the program to see how she could really get at it and break the barrier as the two spoke. She watched him adjust his glasses as he continued. If Roxanne wasn't so set in her rule book she might have considered attacking again, but she would never dream of that. He began to speak about Porygon and their abilities. This definitely caught her attention. " I did indeed, but I've only read it in books. Their abilities and intelligence is fascinating, I believe it's called Conversion?" She replied, eager to hear from an actual Porygon and it's trainer. He continued to comment on how remarkable it was to see it use all type attacks, all but Psybeam. " I don't think-" She began to say that she didn't agree, and that Psybeam would be interesting. However she was playing into his trap. She learned her lesson from this battle. He was distracting her, and by the time Geodude was able to piece it together and understand what the Porygon was doing it was too late. The Rock was knocked backwards in the air as she threw her hands down on the ground to catch her. " Hm, okay, clever clever." She commented, clearly not upset by the trick. " Understood, the battle is on. Hit them again Geodude." She called out to her Geodude. Once again she turned downwards to rapidly punch the ground. Nicolai "Servo" Dakari"It is indeed called converstion. I hadn't expected someone not intimately familiar with the Pokemon of Kanto to know that so readily." He had to admit, he was impressed with his first opponent of Hoenn. She knew her stuff. For the briefest of moments, after the psybeam struck their rocky foe, Nicolai had actually hazarded some naive hope that Quanta had knocked the thing out with a single blow. The Geodude proved its resilience almost immediately however, hands digging into the dirt as it came to a halt. It was clearly still in the fight and unfortunately, the male couldn't tell how much damage his attack had actually done. Rock types were strange like that. It could be on the verge of death or in perfect health and he wouldn't have had the slightest idea on how to tell the distinction from the two. For some rock types anyway. At least his distraction seemed to have work, though how much good it had actually done seeing as the Geodude was already pumping fist to earth in preparation for another magnitude, was entirely lost on him. "I can appreciate someone who keeps their cool under pressure." He spoke with a hint of actual admiration for Roxanne. He had been genuine in his statement - deception was no longer his goal, now that he knew it had worked he saw little point in continuing to use it on someone who would obviously not fall for the same trick again. He did, however, continue to speak to her anyway. "Almost as much as I can appreciate a good sport, someone who doesn't get angry when they realize they've been misled." Letting his arms fall to his sides, Nicolai let out a sharp whistle that drew Quanta's attention even though an attack was clearly coming for the Porygon. This was both a testament to Nicolai's control over his partner as well as Quanta's trust in the redhead. "Full power to that barrier Quanta. Then.. Take. It. Down." Without so much as a huff, Quanta turned back to see the jagged rock coming for it and seemed to tense, the barrier around it reforming as best it could from the last magnitude- right as the attack struck. Just as he had felt a tinge of hope that his Porygon had K.O'ed the Geodude earlier, Nick felt just the smallest bit of fear when the ground type attack slammed into Porygon, thinking the barrier might not have held. A moment later, however, before the dirt and debris around his Pokemon had even begun to attempt to settle it was parted by the force of another Psybeam, Quanta behind the attack and wearing as mean an expression as it could given the lack of an actual mouth or nose. "That's my little hacker." He half-whispered, watching his attack and knowing almost straight away that this one had succeeded where the last had failed. SorukaNyokiLeader Roxanne Roxanne listened to the challenger, however she was much more keen on keeping her focus on the battle. Now he seemed impressed with her knowledge. She was proud to hear this, she was a teacher so she had a pride in her knowledge. Porygon were very rare and some times little known Pokemon just because of how they were made. However she made sure to have at least a vague knowledge of most Pokemon, and Porygon was a very interesting Pokemon. She might not have seen or battled against all the Pokemon she's read about, but she uses this knowledge to teach or in her Gym Battles. " Porygon is a very interesting case to read about. I try to stay caught up on most information, but I wouldn't call it an intimate knowledge." She explained, she actually was interesting in learning more about the Program. "I would say I have an intimate knowledge on all Rock Types" She explained with a smile. That was where her passion really lay, if the museum of items at the front of her gym wasn't enough to explain it. She loved knowledge, but she loved knowledge about Rocks and Rock types the most. He complimented her ability to keep her cool, which was interesting to her seeing that he was keeping his calm just as well. "I can't speak for my fellow gym leaders, but I don't see why getting angry would do anything. It was a valid strategy and I learned to keep my focus better." She explained. She knew that if she allowed herself to get angry it wouldn't do anything to help her, and hinder her ability to listen and learn. Granted, she wouldn't have pulled a strategy like that, but she would admit it was valid. "You're staying pretty level headed yourself." She spoke. His Pokemon had taken a beating thus far, she couldn't exactly tell seeing that it was a computer program, but she assumed it was taking a decent amount of damage. However, it was still going. He whistled, and called out to strengthen the barrier before the attack it. She watched her Geodude ready for another attack as the debris settled. But before any time passed, a blast blew the dust apart and blasted her Pokemon. The brunette winced as her Rock to the force of the attack, and knew it was a powerful one. Just like that, her Geodude fell out of the air and landed unconscious on the ground. "Quick thinking on both your parts, but lets see if your Porygon can handle my next Pokemon." She commented as she returned her Geodude, and pulled out another ball. She let out her Nosepass, as it landed on the ground with a thud. It suddenly twisted and faced away from the battle at hand. Turning to face north because of it's magnetic field.

Nicolai "Servo" Dakari "I see. Forgive my lack of word choice. Intimate though it may not be - it is a far cry better than what most people know about Porygon." Though he was still speaking to Roxanne, the man's eyes remained fixed on the Geodude who had taken two psybeams to the face. He feared the Rock-type may yet rise to continue their battle, something Nick knew his Porygon couldn't do for much longer. While he had a hard time judging Rock-type Pokemon in battle, he knew from experience what a wounded Porygon looked like. And Quanta didn't have a whole lot left to offer as of now. "I would hope for nothing less from the woman who guards the stone badge." He commented absently, blue hues still transfixed on the Geodude even though it was obvious their first foe was out of the fight. Nicolai Dakari winced outwardly at that last thought, and then internally scolded himself for letting the expression show. He hadn't thought to look in advance to see what type of battle this was. Trainers could use up to six Pokemon and Nicolai currently only had two at his disposal. 'Don't forget the Tor- the Mudkip.' He thought glumly, palming the extra ball he had received from the professor. Not since discovering it was not a Torchic as he had intended did Nick bother to even release the little creature. Though in a Rock-type battle, even without experience Mudkip was actually the safer choice. Still, this did little to alleviate the anxiety of knowing he had potentially walked into his first gym battle... second trainer battle in fact, undermanned as it were. He opened his mouth to ask how many 'next' Pokemon she actually had in store for him, but then closed it immediately - thinking better of it. To show a fracture in his confidence now would only hurt his chances. Instead he glanced back at Quanta one last time as she released her next pokemon. "Quanta..." He trailed off, not knowing entirely what it was that he had meant to say. Hang in there? Do your best? The Porygon was as logical as he was and did not require inspiration to do its job. "Well, this is a new one. Hoenn region special?" He asked, a tinge of sarcasm in his voice when he saw the strange, clearly rock type Pokemon. He had never seen one like this before, and that posed yet another problem. Sure, Quanta only had access to one offensive move regardless, but if it came down to Flux it might very well be the difference between toppling the newcomer or walking away defeated. "I won't lie, I have no idea what that thing is. But you should probably tell it that its opponent is literally behind it!" In spite of the fact that he had not intended to raise his voice, the male felt absolutely no reason not to capitalize on what was either stupidity or a mistake on the part of the Nosepass. If she had six Pokemon he needed every chance to get a free strike that lady luck intended to afford him. Quanta took the hint immediately, mustering up more of the psionic power it had learned early on and fired it at the strange creature with its back turned to the Porygon. "I have no qualms with shooting someone in the back." More factually than threateningly, hoping this one might just be less solid than the previous opponent. SorukaNyokiLeader Roxanne Roxanne listened to the male, he seemed to understand that she had a a lack of knowledge on the strange program Pokemon, however it still was most then others. Still, just having 'above average' wasn't enough for the rock Gym Leader. She liked having all of the knowledge she could possess. She was at a clear disadvantage not knowing about this Program, She knew it was normal type. Sometimes. She knew it was a computer program, and that it in theory could travel through technology but nothing confirmed. At least what she read which would be wildly outdated by now. As well as it's abilities, which wasn't near enough for her. So she was going to really pay attention to this battle to see what this Porygon had to offer. Unfortunately her Geodude fell, but she had another trick up her sleeve. The tables seemed to have evened out now, the challenger had no idea what her Nosepass was. She smiled as he questioned if it was a Hoenn native. "You would be correct." She stated with a nod. She wasn't going to take her eyes off of the male or the Pokemon, incase this was another trick. However she decided it was better to play fair, and at least teach him a little, so he would know about as much as she did about Porygon. "They are called Nosepass, and there is a distinct reason why they are called that." She explained, seeing that her Pokemon was facing 'the wrong way' and he might not have seen it's rather large Nose. He continued on to stating that she should inform it to turn around. "There's a distinct reason for that as well. I'm not so sure she can, at least for an extended amount of time. Trainers use these Pokemon, and their evolution, to get through the vast Hoenn Desert. Nosepass have a strong magnetic field, so their noses always point north." She explained for him, just like a teacher would. She didn't want to divulge too much, but fair was fair. The Porygon made a few noises and let loose another Psybeam. She watched closely to make sure she would be fine. The Beam hit her hard, causing her to spin on her flat feet. Nosepass spun like a faulty compass for a quick moment before slowly deciding back on north once more. Roxanne was use to this, and since she was still upright, she took the blow well. Roxanne looked to the Program confidently. "Why fix what's not broken. Nosepass, use Magnitude. See if we can't break that barrier." She spoke. As she did, her nosepass spun around again but more controlled, and facing the opponent. It leaned down and threw it's thin arms on the ground, using magnetic force to rocket the jetting rocks at the Porygon rather then force like the Geodude. Once the attack hit, the Nosepass quickly whirled around again facing North.

Nicolai "Servo" Dakari"A walking Compass." Nicolai Murmured, though whether it was the male being sarcastic or actually impressed was anyone's guess. "That is a strange evolutionary trait, a Pokemon like that would bascially have to be rock type to survive with its back turned to the enemy all the time." If he hadn't been impressed before the psybeam struck, he certainly was now. No sooner had the energy dissipated than he bore witness to just how sturdy the thing was. Sure it spun around but without so much as a whimper, it returned to its original position as though nothing had happened. It was moments like these that made the man grateful he had spent countless hours training his expressions not to show. It had happened once today but that was more than enough - this time the shock he felt remained completely hidden beneath his usual facade. This one was certainly a step above the geodudes he had been facing thus far. "That thing is Rock solid... No pun intended." The addition came when he realized how childish his compliment had sounded. But before he could correct any further the Nosepass struck back. It was a Magnitude attack alright - but this one was different. Stronger maybe? Before he could open his mouth the earth was already rushing at Quanta who thankfully seemed to brace its barrier without needing to be told. Nicolai's heart sank when the dust began to clear and Quanta was nowhere in sight. Eye twitching, the redhead's eyes scanned back and forth across the battlefield, unsure which direction the attack had scattered the poor digital creature to. He was just about to give up on his search when the tiny beak of Quanta poked through some of the rocky debris on the ground, the little Porygon wriggling itself free and looking dazed and confused as Nick had ever seen it. 'But he's still moving.' He reminded himself, noting that the barrier had been completely shattered by the attack. Yeah, this one was definitly stronger than the last. "My Quanta only has one offensive move, regrettably..What is your excuse?" The mild taunt was more or less to buy time for Quanta who seemed to need every second it could get. The digital pokemon slowly freed itself from the debris and rose back into the air, swaying side to side slowly. Quanta wouldn't last any longer. Part of him considered returning it, but taking the Porygon out of the fight was a blunder if he happened to need it later. No, Quanta would fight to the last blow. "Alright. No more games. It's time to put this to bed. Quanta. It is either you or him. Don't let it be you! Full power, give it EVERYTHING you've got left. Psybeam!" Quanta spun around to shake the stars from its vision before squaring its focus on the Nosepass once more. Quanta did not care for emotion, but it was certainly feeling something now. Annoyance? The thing shrugged off his attack and had the nerve to turn its back on him. Again. Quanta would not allow him to make the same mistake again. Lifting its nose into the air, Quanta gathered every last ounce of energy it could in its current state, the ball growing in size until the Porygon whipped forward and unleashed a beam from it, energy surging directly into the back of the Nosepass for the second time today. SorukaNyokiLeader RoxanneRoxanne didn't hear the murmur obviously, but looked to the redhead as e spoke about her Nosepass needing to be rock type to leave itself so exposed like so. She smirked, she believed it was true. To Roxanne, rock types were the strongest and sturdiest Pokémon out there. "They are very sturdy. But you would be surprised. In the Hoenn desert, they don't move much but they are strong predators." She stated to him. It was true, they had strong control over magnetic fields. Once they set their eyes on a rock or steel type, there was no escaping them. As she did, her Nosepass made a noise in agreeance. He made a joke about her Nosepass being solid which made her give a weak smile at the joke. She couldn't exactly think of a rebuttal so she gave a small chuckle. "Yes, she is." She agreed. However the suspense of the battle was strong as they watched intently on the mound that buried the Program. The tension filled the air. Even the Nosepass could sense it with her back turned. Both redhead and Roxanne had been intently searching or watching for any sign of movement. Alas the Porygon was still conscious. Roxanne let out the breath she held. "And your Porygon is pretty solid too. I'm not even sure if it is physically solid either." She returned the joke. Which was true as well, she had no idea if the program was even tangible, or if it were hollow. However the battle was still on and she needed to focus. The redhead called for a strong attack, everything it had left, and it indeed was a very strong attack. It knocked the Nosepass off of her short feet and rolled her backwards towards Roxanne. The brunette had to clench her teeth as she watched, hoping for the best. Her Pokémon tumbled a bit, causing the Gym Leader to start to move out of it's way, but just before it exited the battle area, it rolled over and it's feet stopped it immediately, once again whirling her around to face north. Roxanne let out another sigh of relief, as she looked up to the challenger that questioned why only the one move. That was a very interesting insight, that psybeam was all the Porygon could use offensively. But she would have to think about that later. "Like I said, why fix what's not broken? But, lets show them a little diversity Nosepass." She commented, placing a hand on her hip. "They've had enough coming from the ground, lets attack them by the air. Use Rock Throw." She called out. Her Nosepass whirled around again, much slower this time, and dug it's flat hands into the dirt. Using magnetic fields it sent multiple rocks into the air and in Quanta's direction.Nosepass Lv: 17 HP: 130 Gender: Female Ability: Sturdy- This Pokemon will be left with 1 HP when taking enough damage for a one hit knock out Harden- Raises user's defense by one stage Block- Prevents escape/switching Rock Throw- 50 Magnitude- Roll 1-20. 1=10 damage, 2-3=30 damage, 4-7=50 damage, 8-13=70 damage, 14-17=90 damage, 18-19=110 damage, 20=150 damage {Battle Overview (Click)} [Roxanne let out Geodude] [Geodude 110/110]

Nicolai "Servo" Dakari"Predators?" The man raised an eyebrow at this comment. They simply looked too... Oblivious to be predators, no matter how solid they clearly were. Then again, with magnetism capable of controlling the barest amount of minerals inside of an object, he could see why their rock type attacks were on an entirely different level from the average rock type Pokemon. His cheeks turned the slightest bit of pink when it was clear she had caught his unintentional joke. He really needed to take a night to sit and meditate to get his mind back in order. Control your expressions, control your feelings, control your surroundings. These were important - losing them simply because you were in some childish battle was not something he could understand or tolerate. The absolute moment that Quanta's attack slammed into the Nosepass and it rose once more, the redhead hung his head, eye twitching. He had no doubt's that Quanta had done exactly as he had instructed. It simply hadn't been enough. "Story of my life." He whispered, not so much as batting an eye when the levitating rocks slammed into the digital Pokemon, sending it sliding back across the battlefield not five feet from him. With a sigh, he retrieved the empty Pokeball, raising his arm and returning Quanta to its capsule. It was done before the last attack even began, he could see it had strained itself too hard. But Quanta, for all of its logical thoughts - would still have wanted to try. Or at least he imagined this to be the case. After attaching the ball containing his fallen back to his belt, Nicolai reached for the one containing Torchic, the Mudkip. 'We are NOT calling it that.' He snapped at himself mentally, barely registering the hand on his shoulder. Flux growled at him - quite literally, shaking her head rapidly and causing the human hair she had to bob obnoxiously. "I'm trying to save you for last - Just in case." He scowled. Shockingly? She scowled back, and while Flux did not intimidate him as she was, something about the expression reminded him of a time he had been small. A time where seeing it gave him the absolute cold sweats. Slowly he removed his hand from the ball and vaguely gestured toward the battlefield. "By all means then, go for it. But don't you dare mess this up." The brunette beamed and hop-skipped into the battlefield, cracking her knuckles and her neck as she approached the starting line. She eyed the Nosepass, and then its trainer, sticking her tongue out tauntingly even as her body melted down and reformed into an exact replica of her opponent. Almost an exact replica. When Nicolai noted that in Flux's haste she had somehow messed the color of the nose up, he pressed his index finger and thumb to his nose in irritation. She was already losing focus. He needed her to pay attention. "Flux!" He snapped, causing his Nosepass to shift towards him for a brief second only to look panicked when the power of electromagnetism forced it back to face true north. At least that was also the direction of its opponent. "You've seen its attacks - give them right back. Magnitude!" Stumbling for a moment as if she were actually sitting somewhere else with a controller, trying to understand how this new and strange body worked, Flux finally figured out whatever it was that Ditto's seemed to require to replicate attacks, shaking the ground using that same strange force that Nosepass seemed to generate. A moment later Jagged rocks were surging into the opposing Nosepass. Now it was simply a matter of whether or not this would be as devastating as Roxanne's Magnitude seemed to be. SorukaNyokiLeader Roxanne Roxanne smirked at what she believed was disbelief. She knew they were predators in their natural habitat. She's seen her Pokemon eat before, and if she were on it's food group she would be concerned. "You would be surprised. You don't have to move if your food is physically pulled towards you." She explained to him. They don't look like much, and maybe a little goofy looking, but they were strong and durable. She was very pleased to see the Porygon go down. She was successful against her first Porygon which she was proud to see. However she was pretty quick to realize that her next Pokemon was going to be another Challenge to say the least. She had battled a Ditto before, but it was rare. However it was pretty self explanatory. She was going to battle another Nosepass. She watched the female skip forward then transform. It looked a little off, but she couldn't exactly place what it was at the moment. How ever, had she not watched the transformation happen she wouldn't have thought of it as a Ditto. Her own Nosepass wobbled after the transformation occurred and wavered slightly away from True North. The new and chaotic magnetic field messing up it's point. This began to make Roxanne a little nervous. The Ditto appeared to be strong and able enough to control new abilities quickly. She was hopping since the redhead didn't know what Nosepass was the Ditto wouldn't know how to use it's abilities. But seeing it effect her own's field she was wrong. The Nosepass whirled around to face the other trainer but soon after returned fire. "Try to stop it, and return the Magnitude!" She called out, her Nosepass whirled around quickly but was too late. The rocks hit her living compass and sent it rolling back again on it's side. The Pokemon came to a stop just before Roxanne but it did not return to it's feet. Roxanne kneeled down and rubbed her beloved Pokemon before returning her. She stood up and walked across the field and towards the redhead. "That was an interesting battle, and I learned quite a bit from it." she explained to him once she was within earshot. She put her hand in her pockets and pulled out a badge for him, and held it out. "I can tell you and your Pokemon know what you're doing, but it may benefit you to create a closer bond with your Pokemon and battle more as a team." She told him, trying to maybe give him some constructive criticism from the battle. She saw how his Porygon did all of the battle, doing all of the work for him, while he was a bit harsher on the Ditto. Granted she hadn't seen or know much about the programming he did before hand. "If you're ever back in Rustboro, I would like a rematch. I want to see more of what your Porygon and Ditto can do." She told him with a nod. Nicolai has received:+21 exp split between Quanta and Flux Stone Badge TM37 Sandstorm First Badge Bonus+5 exp to each active party x1 TM of your choice (It was no problem at all! I actually enjoy getting to play the Gym leaders, which is why I usually do them when I can. - Kira Anne Williams - ♪ I'm gonna show you what little girls are made of, gunpowder and... gunpowder and lead! ♪ Kira was fond of the idea that she could go through the Gym Leagues of other Regions one at a time and work with new - or in some cases old - Pokemon. Among her new team was the Onix she worked so very hard to find, the Raichu she'd evolved from a young Pikachu, and even Lucy. Kira landed with Charizard and went right into the Gym. She could stretch her legs after the flight while walking through the Gym, and then earn another badge at the same time!
She knew this was the first Gym that Trainers dealt with in this Region, having asked the Nurse Joy of the last City she was in. She was confident it would be easy to beat the Leader here. The Gym Trainer - a boy named Tommy - only made her believe that further He was weak and her Totodile was able to soak the defending Geodude to sleep quickly and Kira was right back on the hunt for the woman called Roxanne. Eventually she found her.
Totodile never got returned from the first battle, so after a quick heal he was ready to face Roxanne. He jumped up and down in uncontained excitement to be in yet another fight. They exchanged their pleasantries and then the battle was on. Geodude rushed at Totodile, throwing insanely strong punches. Totodile was only barely able to avoid them by bouncing up, sideways, and back to keep out of that long reach. Eventually the living rock got fed up and lifted up both thick arms and bringing them slamming straight down into the ground. Totodile came down awkwardly on an ankle and stumbled.
Geodude rushed forward to take advantage only to get a face full of water gun. Geodude flew back, hit the ground, and spun out of control. When it stopped, it was unconscious and unable to fight longer. Kira yelled out happily and caught Totodile as it jumped into her arms. She hugged the tiny crocodile. Roxanne sorted herself out and sent out Nosepass. "How does your ankle feel? Do you want to keep fighting?" Totodile looked uncomfortable at the idea, so Kira smiled reassuringly. "That's okay. Have a rest."
So she returned her Pokemon and sent out her amazing Onix. She remembered catching it just before battling Misty. Arceus, that was so long ago it seemed. The giant snake towered over all of them and initiated the fight by raising it's heavy tail and slamming it into the ground like Geodude had done. Nosepass rode out the Earthquake and used Magnitude to try and end the battle quickly. If it had been lucky, it could have easily taken down Onix in a single hit. Fortunately luck was on the side of Kira and Onix. That tail came crashing down gain, only this time on top of Nosepass pinning it between tail and shaking earth.
Eventually they both knew it was a lost cause and she had to return her Nosepass. Kira climbed down from her side and approached Roxanne with a big smile. "That was awesome! Ground-Type and Rock-Type Pokemon are so cool." She looked up at Onix and beamed at him. "Do you have other Rock- and Ground-Types?" She assumed so; you didn't get to be a Gym Leader with only two intermediate-level Pokemon. Nicolai "Servo" DakariThe thought of poor, hapless pokemon being dragged magnetically into the open maw of a rock type Pokemon was... unnerving. But Nicolai did not let the thought break his concentration for long, keeping his sharp eyes intently on what he could feel in his gut was the crescendo of this fight. It was strange how instinct worked. It provided knowledge that you couldn't verify and yet it was almost always right. In this particular case, it was informing him that if he could just knock this NosePass out the battle would be his. It was over before he could even contemplate victory. He had expected Flux to be powerful but this... This was nothing like the fight with the geodude. The attack itself was beyond the scope of what he reasoned Flux could actually put out. "Are you trying now?" He muttered, watching the attack smash into the enemy before it could even attempt a retaliation. And just like that, it was over. The male watched Roxanne return her Nosepass to it's capsule and cross the gap between them. 'Gut instinct wins again' He thought, nodding to Flux who immediately shrank down into her normal pink self onto to ripple back into her humanoid form. He tapped the skin just underneath his eye to signal the Ditto who flushed with embarrassment and closed her eyes. A moment later when she reopened them they were the dull brown of any normal human being. he turned his attention from the approaching Flux to the Gym leader who now held the prize he had come here to obtain, staring at the small trinket in her open palm thoughtfully for far longer than he probably should of. Another childish memory threatened to break his character, but he allowed no such thing, gently taking the badge from her and offering a polite smile in spite of his internal reception of the advice she had given. "I will certainly take that into consideration. I've never been one for training Pokemon the way others do but... It gets results." That was all he offered on the subject, slipping the prize into his pocket and then offering her an open hand to shake, smiling more genuinely this time. "I don't think I will be for some time, but we will call that a date. You were much more capable than the data I had suggested. I look forward to the rematch. Next time they will have a lot more to offer you." If he was ashamed by his choice of words, it did not show. He meant what he'd said. He would battle her again someday if the opportunity presented itself. With that bit of business out of the way, Nicolai turned from Roxanne and strolled towards the exit, heaving a sigh of relief, an obnoxiously grinning Flux behind him, bouncing around joyously. She knew when he was happy, he always had that weird glint in his eyes.
