Hanako couldn't help but smile at Odyss. He was so cute! Zinnia seemed just as thrilled to see Odyss as he was to see him. The Froakie resisted the urge to wiggle around too much though. If he wasn't careful then he might hurt his trainer's arm further. As soon as she loosened her grip a little, however, he was back on the floor and hopping around Odyss excitedly. "You evolved! That is so cool!" He couldn't have been happier to see his best friend. They could play together again! Now they could travel and see all kinds of neat places and be awesome and- Zinnia nearly tripped over himself when he realized Hanako had knelt down in front of them. He quickly collected himself and gestured towards his trainer as if presenting her to the Quilladin, smiling all the while. "This is my trainer. She's small and squishy and really nice! She's more like a human shaped momma than a trainer!" While Zinnia introduced her, Hanako remained completely silent. She had no idea what her little Froakie was saying but it would have been rude to interrupt him! Zinnia nudged her when he was done, moving back a bit so she could greet Odyss properly. "Hello sweetheart. It's nice to meet you. I'm glad my little Zinnia has found such a precious friend again." Hanako didn't hesitate to gather Odyss in her arms and hug him. Any friend of Zinnia's was her friend as well. She kissed the Quilladin before freeing him. "See?! She gives all kinds of hugs and kisses! Even to super serious things like Taro!" He paused, realizing that Odyss didn't know the story behind the odd name for his trainer. "She refuses to call him Kintaro until he calls her Hana. Ms. Lucali is too formal." Zinnia resumed hopping around his friend, observing every change to his form. He looked awesome! In his excitement the little Froakie couldn't help but continue to chatter away. There was so much they needed to catch up on.
Hanako stood, leaving their Starters to do as they pleased. They were still in the Pokemon Center so it wasn't like allowing them to play together was going to hurt anything. She carefully grabbed Kintaro's hand, bringing his injured wrist up to her lips and gently kissing it. Noticing it at first had been difficult but she hadn't been able to ignore it all together during the course of Kintaro introducing his Quilladin. Beyond the kiss she chose not to address the injury further. Doing so felt like it would only bother him. "Odyss is a cutie. He really seems to like you." Which was something that eased some of her worries. Seeing how Kintaro behaved with Odyss gave her some hope for Mary. There was still a chance Kintaro could make up with the adorable little Luxio! If Odyss liked him then perhaps Kintaro didn't have as much trouble bonding with his Pokemon as he seemed to...but his behavior with Odyss didn't make up for how he had treated Mary. Mary had done nothing to deserve to be treated so terribly. She hoped Kintaro would start working on fixing things with her soon. Still, his mostly positive interaction with Odyss counted as a good behavior and good behavior needed to be rewarded if she wanted it to stick. She kissed his hand before letting go of it. If he was so against affection then she would really need to find another way to praise him when he did something good. For now it would have to do. Hanako began picking at her bandages, frustrated by how uncomfortable they were. If she was going to keep the Deino she assumed that bandages in other locations besides her face were something she was going to have to get use to but that didn't mean she had to like them! "Oh! The Deino is okay but he caused quite a bit of trouble while he was tended to." She sat down on the floor where she was, releasing the Pokemon in question directly into her lap. Instead of attacking as he had before, the Deino fell lazily against his new trainer, his mouth immediately finding her arm again, though he appeared to be too tired to actually bite her. "He had to be sedated. He insisted upon breaking out of his Pokeball and trying to eat it." Hanako snuggled the violent Pokemon and smiled despite the worrying position of her arm. "He's a silly little thing. I'm going to have to learn how to take care of him properly." Which would likely result in several more bites, bruises, and scars. She wanted to believe he could be a good boy and she was going to try her best to make that happen. "I'm thinking of calling him Baloth. My other babies are all named after flowers but a flower name wouldn't fit this little one."

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro was relieved that Hanako appeared to be--mostly--OK. And her treatment of Odyss caused him to smile just a bit. It was fortunate they were all so focused on each other. While he still didn't like the energy the boys were showing, patience with Odyss increased as Zinnia responded in kind. It always helped put the man at ease when he was reminded that his Pokemon were still their own creatures and that they were still often much better behaved than the average. He slowly knelt down with his joints clicking until he was crouched down balanced on the balls of his feet. His long legs became even more prominent as his kneels were soon up just beneath his glasses by the time he was settled into position. He let the trio interact and watched them all with an analytical frame of mind. They were socializing, interacting, sharing their thoughts and feelings without always using exact words. Even when he was quite content working at Second Chansey, Kintaro never could master the special art of emotionally connecting with his clients. From his point of view, at least. He could expertly communicate with Attica without a word or gesture between them. bit that was why he was studying Hana. He didn't understand the bonds like he should and she was going to help him learn. Through Hanako, Kintaro was going to learn that he already knew how to form bonds and just didn't appreciate the ones he had. After a long silence from the lanky trainer he raised from his crouch to pat Odyss on top of his head. "Alright, Odyss. I think you've pestered your friends enough." He remarked to his Quilladin. Odyss flinched again, but wasn't sure how to respond when he noticed the thin smile on his master's face. Normally Kintaro was disapproving of this kind of behavior. "Is your mom magic?" Inquired the Quilladin of Zinnia while he stared at the alien expression on his trainer. Kintaro reached out for Hana's hand even as she cradled the Deino in her lap. He didn't approve that she had let it out, but he could accept the sedated thing for the moment. "I see...and what is a 'Baloth' exactly?" He wondered aloud, looking to Hana for an answer. "Don't forget, we still have a Gym Challenge to face. We should get ready for that. You never know what we might need to do tomorrow. So why not seize the moment today?" He offered the young lady, his hand still stretched out for her. "We're going to go with yes." Zinnia had stopped moving the moment the Deino had been released from its Pokeball. While Odyss was staring at Kintaro, the Froakie was entirely fixated on the Deino in his trainer's lap. "That thing is dangerous. He's the reason mom's arm is hurt." He was wary of Baloth but Hanako already seemed fond of him. For her sake he would have to learn to tolerate the other Pokemon. He only hoped that the Deino wasn't as dumb as it seemed. His trainer was much too squishy to deal with being bitten all the time. The Deino in question responded as quickly as his sleepy little brain would allow him to when he heard something moving in the general area of his head, his mouth detaching itself from Hanako's arm so he could attempt to nudge Kintaro's hand, something he failed miserably at. It was the closest thing to tackling anything that he was able to manage. The inability to bite and tackle bothered the Deino even in his sedated state but all he could do was growl. He continued to growl right up until he was returned to his Pokeball. Hanako took Kintaro's hand in her own and smiled at him after she got herself back to her feet. Even after standing she continued to hold his hand. "Baloths are really fun monsters from a game. They're kinda like...not-dragons. They're big and scary and really cute! He's kinda like a little Baloth. He's not very big but his bite is a bit scary and he's adorable." Childish as her explanation was, Hanako sounded very excited about the name. She blushed when she realized how silly she must have looked and turned her attention to the ground for a few moments. "I-I um...I couldn't go outside for a very long time so I played games to help distract myself." She attempted to explain herself before deciding to avoid the topic entirely, focusing instead on the Gym they would be going through soon. "The Gym is really intimidating but maybe it will be fun too. It will be a good learning experience and watching you battle a Gym Leader sounds really exciting. I think you're going to do amazing~!" Her thoughts on how she thought she was going to do in the gym were yet another thing she avoided. "Where do you think we should start?" Hanako felt it best to let Kintaro lead. She had no idea where to even begin with something like preparing for a Gym.

Kintaro Satoshi Odyss was taken aback at first when he saw Baloth. He'd heard of Deino a long time ago but he'd never seen one before. "I thought they were blue." Muttered the Quilladin curiously, staring at the mouthy little monster. He struck a defensive pose when Zin mentioned that Deino--Baloth was revealed to be the cause of Hana's wounded arm. "Hey! That's no good! She shouldn't hug something that bit her!" While he was definitely put off by the idea of Hanako getting bit again he could also tell that Baloth was not going to bite anybody successfully right now. Still, Kintaro snatched his hand back when Baloth reached for it and glowered at the little Dragon. "Let's go, Odyss. You should probably not participate, but I want you to experience your first Gym all the same." Kintaro instructed his Quilladin who instantly grew excited and bounced on his toes. "Quil-Quil!" He cried enthusiastically. Sure Kintaro had said he wouldn't be fighting, but that didn't dampen the Quilladin's spirit at all. He had been brought back to the team just to be involved. That felt amazing to the Grass Type. Attica was already part of the team, and Kintaro had three bugs of his own who could contend with Viola and her Pokemon. Not well, honestly, but they had a shot. While he was preparing for the trip Kintaro released Hawke from his ball, feeding the Spewpa some Rare Candies. He gave the young Pokemon a pat on the head to encourage him in the meantime. "You should be ready by the time we get there. You're going to get your wish." He told the Spewpa calmly, making reference to the night with Gandor and letting Hawke know he had noticed how intent the Scatterbug had been on flying. "You're going to have your own power now." Kintaro stated further, then returned Hawke to his ball where he expected the Spewpa to soon evolve. He would let Hawke digest the treat and come into his form on his own, though. He still had to get there and didn't want to clutter the Gym with too many companions following along. After all of his own preparation Kintaro still made sure to hold his hand out for Hanako, turning his head to make sure she was going to at least follow. "Gyms tend to have small challenges. Physical and mental puzzles. If I recall the databooks correctly, Santalune City typically has a Gym that focuses on Bug Pokemon. Viola in particular, I believe, likes to catch her challenges by surprise by keeping them focused on a task so they can't prepare for the surprise she has in store. Strangely, I can't find information on what this 'surprise' is." He didn't tell her that it bothered him not knowing what would come. He knew that Viola took "Shutterbug" to a new level but he couldn't be sure that photography was going to make for much of a surprise in a puzzle. "I wouldn't be surprised if she had an Ariados or Galvantula making threads, though. A single space to walk on like that would be the most distracting thing I can think of for a bug to puzzle someone with." He pointed out, deducing that spiders were the best source of any puzzle in the realm of Bug Pokemon. He guided Hanako through the city this time, careful not to get lost or let her wander off on him. Not that she had shown a real tendency to do so. With any luck, he could keep Hawke for an Ace in the Hole at the end. While Kintaro was busy preparing, Hanako was focused entirely on her Pokedex. Her attempt at learning how to take care of a Deino had to start somewhere. At the very least she needed to know what Baloth could and could not eat. If he was going to insist upon biting everything then him swallowing something that wasn't safe was inevitable. If she could learn how to take care of him whenever he did eat something bad it would save them a lot of trips to the Pokemon Center. She was so absorbed in what she was reading that she didn't even notice Zinnia hop back up to her shoulder. "The picture of the Deino on this thing is blue. Maybe Baloth's weird?" Weird didn't begin to cover it. Odd color, violent, and more than a bit dense...Trying to see whatever it was his trainer saw in the Deino was going to be difficult. He would figure it out though. He had to for Hana's sake. His trainer was really nice so maybe the Deino would warm up to her eventually. It couldn't stay violent forever. He almost fell off of Hana's shoulder when she started moving suddenly. Hanako had missed her Froakie jumping up on to her shoulder but she hadn't missed Kintaro's hand when it had been offered to her. She put her Pokedex away before taking his hand, following along beside him while he led her through the city. The young woman remained as close to Kintaro as she possibly could as they walked, still nervous as ever about the number of people in the city. Knowing they would be taking on the Gym soon only made it worse for her up until she heard him say that it was a Gym focused on Bug Pokemon. She appeared very much like an excited puppy then. If she had a tail it would have been wagging. "I bet it's really pretty inside! Maybe lots of nice plants for the buggies to live in. I wonder if we'll see any of them wandering around." Her worries about the Gym had vanished in an instant, though she was still a little nervous about the thought of a physical puzzle. If there was one she was sure she could handle it though! "This is going to be so much fun~!" This statement was followed up by a tiny squeaking sound. Hanako physically could not squeal so the squeaking sound was the next best thing she could manage. "Maybe the Bugs are part of the surprise. They could sneak up behind you or come down from the ceiling while you're distracted!" She brought her free hand up to her face and wiggled her fingers, making a small 'grring' sound as she did so. After a moment she giggled and let her arm fall back down to her side. She was the worst are trying to look scary. Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro frowned thoughtfully as he and Hana tried to puzzle out what Viola’s challenge was supposed to be. She had a good idea except Pokémon weren’t normally involved in the event directly except as gym trainer partners. He didn’t correct her idea, however, as Viola seemed like the type to defy such convention from his viewpoint. Anything for a good photo. Odyss had agreed wholeheartedly with Zin’s assumption that Baloth was just weird. That much was obvious even to the Quilladin! With everyone so absorbed in their own conversations and concerns nobody kept their eyes forward like reasonable people should. Kintaro froze in place and shuddered from the tips of his hair down to his soles when a Shuppet phased through his forehead. Hanako found herself tripping over a dark mass in the path hunkered down looking for something. The dismayed and indignant cry precluded a messy fall putting Kintaro and Hanako on top of a Hex Maniac girl who was struggling to stand even though she was pinned under two masses. “Hey! Hey! Getoffa me! Off! Thieves! Perverts! What do you want!?” Yelped the female, trying now to shove Kintaro first and then Hanako off of her. “I am so sorry. I was not watching the path ahead. Are you—Ghk! STOP THAT!” Shuppet had mistaken the accident for an attack on its partner—not that she gave anyone cause to believe otherwise—and started swooping through Kintaro and Hana in an attempt to rescue her. Shuppet made a menacing noise and Kintaro glowered at it as he stood. “If that’s how you feel, very well. "Taro? What's wrong- oh my god!" Hanako squeaked when she found herself on top of an unfortunate stranger. She quickly whispered something that could have been an apology, her ability to speak vanishing as she tried to get herself back to her feet. Being shoved didn't help any. That only made finding her balance again all the more difficult but she couldn't blame the girl for being upset- she just had a small Wailmer fall on her. Hana would have continued to try to apologize had the Shuppet not passed through her. She hadn't noticed the Ghost until that point. Hanako's reaction to it was...less than positive. She threw herself off of the Shuppet's trainer, the stitches in her arm threatening to tear as she scrambled to get away from her and her terrifying Ghost. While she couldn't speak, she did manage something close to a scream. It was a small noise that sounded almost painful for Hana but it was a scream all the same. As soon as she managed to get herself to her feet Hana hid behind Kintaro, clinging to his shirt for dear life and hiding her face against his back. Her entire body was shaking due to how afraid she was. This would be one battle where Hanako would be unable to cheer for Kintaro. She was far too busy trying to hide and it was unlikely that she would be able to find her voice again until she calmed down. Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro squared off against Fiona and her Shuppet while the young woman stared intensely at them both. “I’ll teach you to pick on an innocent girl! Shu-Shu, use Night Shade!” Cried the witch, her Shuppet glowing as it followed her command to attack Kahuna. The Kakuna tensed and shrank against the attack while Kintaro reasoned out the battle. “Kakuna. Use Harden. Prepare yourself!” Called the man much to his Pokemon’s disappointment. Night Shade didn’t care how hard Kahuna got. What he didn’t expect was for Shuppet to spat some rude curse at him as Fiona called for the attack to be disabled. Shuppet’s Spite caused Kahuna to seize up and tremble momentarily before his shell seemed to lose some of its shine.
The battle went on with Kintaro playing Fiona by getting her to believe his use of Harden had been important. Her attempt to Spite Bug Bite right after failed which made her abandon the move promptly and decide to weaken Kahuna next. He watched the woman calmly as Shuppet finally drifted to the ground after fighting hard for its trainer. “Shu-Shu! Are you ok! Shu-Shu speak to me!” Wailed the female, clearly upset by the situation when she realized her wild declarations had amounted to her own Pokémon losing the battle. Kintaro calmly adjusted his glasses and scooped Shuppet off the ground as if grabbing the lady’s list handkerchief. He caught her wrist and turned her hand up so he could set the fainted Pokémon into its trainer’s hand. “You should know that Night Shade is a Special Attack. And Spite can only affect one move at a time. But you would have been able to see that if you were able to see at all.” The unfocused glare grew anxious when Kintaro revealed that he knew she was blind. He touched Shuppet’s head lightly and frowned at Fiona. “You should more carefully consider your options in the future. As it stands your Shuppet isn’t going to be winning any Gym Battles right now. You should train it, and catch more Pokémon for diversity in Battle. You could become a formidable trainer with that.” He explained further, watching as the woman seemed to only get more agitated. She ripped her arm free of his hold and returned her Shuppet before fleeing the scene and declaring her intent to get him back. Kintaro remained thoughtful and slowly turned to look at Hanako as if she somehow knew what was wrong with that woman. “We should get going. Kakuna will need some rest but he’s able to continue fighting.” Kintaro remarked, letting Hanako know that his Kakuna would be ok in spite of the clearly tough battle. Now he felt ready to fight Viola.

Hanako remained hidden behind Kintaro right up until the battle ended and he moved to talk to the other female. She stood quietly then, nervously hugging herself as she tried to get herself together. Ghost Types had to be the single creepiest type of Pokemon. Even after seeing the Shuppet had fainted she still found herself worrying that it would get up and try to pass through them again. Watching Kintaro proved to be the best way to distract herself from the Ghost Type and its strange trainer. He was so calm when dealing with the other trainer that it helped Hana relax a little bit. Kintaro Satoshi The victory was earned but Kintaro didn't feel like he had done much. He still was going to challenge Viola. He couldn't pretend he didn't know how to defeat the first Gym Leader. He was going to take Hanako with him without a second thought but there was an attendant that seemed to be waiting for exactly that kind of error. "Challenging the Gym, sir?" Greeted the young man, standing straight and smiling slightly. Kintaro gave a slow nod before smiling himself. "Yes. Am I right to assume the path is ahead?" Having someone to speak formally with put the middle-aged trainer at ease, allowing him to address his situation without much concern for how it could work out. "Why, yes, of course. However, only one challenger is permitted to enter at a time. Your girlfriend is going to have to follow me to the stands. She can watch from there." Explained the young man. Kintaro opened his mouth to protest the need to separate, but it had already been pointed out that Hana had to wait her turn to battle Viola herself. He could only nod in response to that but didn't breathe a word about Hana being called his girlfriend. He got used to it when his boss used to take him out to lunch. It was too much work to explain that he was single and not interested. "You're going to follow this gentleman upstairs, alright? He'll make sure you do not get lost, Ms. Lucali. I'll be right down here." Kintaro explained calmly, hoping Hana wouldn't be too upset to find she was not only forced to separate from her partner but would have to follow a complete stranger along as well.
With Hanako taken care of, Kintaro walked up to the starting lobby of the Gym. He made his way through the rooms necessary until he was faced with his first thread of spider webbing for a path. "Hmm. I didn't actually think someone would take the time for this. Gym Trainers are quite imaginative." He mumbled to himself, complimenting the effort it took to set up such a path. He stepped out onto the thick rope and balanced as he moved along. Odyss came up behind his trainer quickly and began to traverse the tight rope as best he could. The Quilladin was still struggling with his new form and it showed with his awkward stumbling across the line. When they reached the next platform Kintaro had to stop to save Odyss from slipping into the abyss below. There was a safety precaution down there, Kintaro knew that, but they would take longer if he or Odyss fell. He didn't want to keep Hana waiting. It wasn't long before the challenger found his first obstacle, stopping when a trainer called out to him. He looked sidelong at the youth and then down at Odyss. Needless to say, Hanako was less than thrilled to find herself following the attendant, but if it was one of the Gym's rules she couldn't exactly argue. She didn't say a word to the attendant, though it wasn't because she meant to be rude. She was simply too nervous to speak. Strangers were scary. The timid young woman hugged her Froakie to her chest, keeping her eye focused on the ground in an attempt to avoid having to look directly at him. If she kept reminding herself that she was only going to be stuck alone with the stranger temporarily then she might be able to make it through without too much difficulty. Once Kintaro's battles started she doubted it would matter anyway. Hana would be much too focused on him to think about the stranger with her. She hoped she hadn't missed anything so far. Watching Kintaro battle was too much fun. Cheering for him was going to be difficult since she couldn't yell but she was going to try her best. She was convinced Taro wouldn't have any trouble in the Gym. If he could win a battle against a Ghost then he could win against anything! A small smile appeared on Hana's face as she looked around, taking in her surrounding for the first time since leaving Kintaro's side. If he could be brave enough to battle a ghosty then she could manage to tolerate the attendant until she was back with her partner. What she had to deal with was much less intimidating than a Ghost.

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro's first challenge was a Youngster with a Ledyba. It was on one of Viola's platforms but it still didn't feel like enough space. Kintaro moved to let Ledyba fly past his head as the eager little bug insisted they get the battle started. The man had to consider his chioces before sending out Attica for the first battle. Attica was not the best choice being part Dark Type but her Steel typing made it easier for her to fight back all the same. Kintaro convinced the youth to announce his attacks and his strategy for the young woman in the stands while Kintaro did the same. Though a boisterous young man David appeared to have his wits about him at least. And he seemed to appreciate the idea of teaching a new trainer. In perfect honesty the battle was never in question but that didn't mean Attica had an easy run of it. The Pawniard's head spun after getting struck twice by Ledyba and she only hoped the bug wasn't coming for another pass after she used Psycho Cut to get it away. "Attica!" The voice was firm but not rough like when he had chided Mary. "This was supposed to be a demonstration. You should be more careful." He explained in a surprisingly calm tone of voice even as he was admonishing the unhappy Pawniard for doing exactly what she was supposed to do. It wasn't her fault that Ledyba wasn't tough enough to handle her attacks!

Elfy rooker  Leader ViolaDavid was disappointed at his loss, but he definitely wasn't a sore loser! David smiled to the male and walked over to him. "Wow that was a good battle. Your Pawniard sure is tough, but Viola is a lot tougher then me. So Good luck!" The youngster explained, and warned. He was excited at the good battle he had participated and was eager to see how the challenger did against Viola. David lead the man over across the ropes masterfully and towards the full sized battle field that was Viola's. He would only slow or stop on the ropes in case the challenger fell, or began to struggle. "Let me go get Viola for you!" He told the male and walked towards one of the walls that was covered in greenery. He disappeared into the foliage, into some disguised door, and after a few moments, the blonde gym leader emerged with a bright smile on her face, and a camera ready around her neck. "Well, Hello, I'm Viola. David told me you're here to challenge me." She spoke in a friendly tone, and then she noticed a petite cyan haired girl in the stands. Viola gave her a friendly smile and a wave before turning back to the challenger at hand. She let out her first Pokemon, Surskit, and began towards her starting mark. "I hope you don't mind, but I like to take photographs during my battle." She explained, lifting the camera hanging from the strap around her neck. "You can look at them after the battle, and keep the ones you want if you'd like" Viola added happily. Not only did she love bug types, and taking pictures of those in battle with her, but nothing made her happier then one someone liked and took some of her photography with them. She lifted her Camera higher out of habit, whether he agreed or not, though she wouldn't actually take the pictures if he denied. She straightened up standing tall. "Alright, ready when you are!" She proclaimed with a grin on her face. Kintaro Satoshi With the defeat of the child, Kintaro was surprised to find that he was promptly guided to face his main event. He hadn't expected such a helpful start to his first Gym Battle. Attica was healed and returned to her ball before traversing the lines toward Viola's battlefield. He had to stop short and let himself fall off of the last thread, catching Odyss around the ankles even as two joints popped out almost instantly. "Odyss? Do you want to go back in the ball?" Asked the trainer, no visible sign of the strain he'd caused himself except for the fact that his right arm was definitely longer than his left and his wrist was twisted as he hung upside down. Odyss whined his protest and Kintaro only nodded. He started slow, swinging back and forth on the spider web rope before tossing Odyss onto the final platform and swinging himself up to sit on the rope. His wrist was put back into place immediately and he let his arm hang as he shimmied across the rope until he could safely stand again. By then Viola was coming out to the strange greeting of Kintaro's formal "Hello" followed by watching him twist his arm and pop his shoulder back into place. "I slipped." Was the only explanation the male had. For having his arm pop out of place Kintaro was clearly not disturbed by it.
He contemplated his options as Viola spoke, only slightly aware of the woman's declarations about photographing the battle and their Pokemon. He paused in his thought when he realized she was poised for an answer. A brief roll upward of his eyes as if sorting through the data in his head brought back the words he hadn't yet listened to. "Hm? Oh, that won't be necessary. Keep whatever you take." The man answered plainly without realizing copies were being offered. He shouldn't be thinking so much that his attention was lost. Viola deserved his attention as a Gym Leader and he was unintentionally being rude. "If you don't mind, madam, I am also here to teach my travel companion the basics of Battling. I have it on good authority that Gym Leaders have experience teaching new trainers." He explained, scanning the seats overhead before directing Viola's attention back to Hanako. He really hadn't been paying attention in the first moments. With Odyss at his side Kintaro once more released Attica without the right kind of consideration for this battle. "This should do." He remarked with a small nod. "Attica, don't forget to be more patient this time. Miss Lucali won't learn much if we try to simply defeat the opponent." Attica turned to Kintaro to glare at the man. SERIOUSLY!? He still wasn't treating this battle the way he should and now he was going to try and make her pull punches against a Gym Leader?! She couldn't restrain her temper. Kintaro shouted in pain when Attica jabbed him in the shin and pointed at Viola. He glared at his Pawniard, then frowned at Viola. "We don't always agree on how best to approach a situation." He explained sharply, trying to make it seem as though Attica stabbing him was a perfectly normal thing that was just her way of acting out.

Elfy rooker Leader ViolaViola winced as she saw that the challengers shoulder pop back into it's socket. Clearly she was more perturbed then he was, by that fact. Viola had made that test to make the challengers prove themselves, but she never wanted to injure anyone... She might give Clemont a call and see if he had any ideas or gizmos. The male plainly denied her offer for the copies. She was a bit disappointed, but he was being fairly polite about it, so she tried to not let it phase her any. Some people didn't have any place for them, or just didn't want them. She nodded to him, at least he was alright with them being photographed. He began to explain about his friend sitting in the stands watching. She smiled, at his request. If she was disappointed before, she wasn't now. She was more then happy to help with a new trainer. "I would be happy to help out!" Viola replied in a friendly tone. "I would be more then happy to explain my tactics and strategies, so she can learn, but I'm still going to give the battle my all." Viola explained as her smile faded a bit but her tone was still friendly. She knew he wasn't asking her to go easy on him, but she just wanted to explain to him that it wouldn't be fair if she went a bit easy. She was a kind woman, but she was a fierce battler. He let out his Pokemon, a Pawniard, to which Viola immediately snapped a few shots out a excitement. She heard him call her Attica, as she soon after jabbed him. He explained that they don't always agree on things, and she gave him a nervous laugh and a slow nod, unsure of how to respond.
With both their Pokemon out, Viola was ready. She thought for a quick moment before speaking, eyeing over the Pawniard. "Well, seeing my opponent. She's clearly a tough Pawniard, and strong willed." Viola began to explain, speaking loud enough so his friend in the audience could hear her. "She might have more strength then my Surskit, so I'm going to have to play to my Pokemon's abilities, and assets." She continued, seeming to speak to both the challenger, and towards the beginner. "And Surskit's strength is her speed." The blonde explained, turning towards the challenger with a grin, having her camera in hand, as she spoke quickly. "Surskit use your speed to get close, use bug bite!" Viola called out, starting the battle. The water strider began to glide across the field as though she were skating across water or ice. The blue water bug type quickly whirled around the Pawniard, curving around her to keep away from the sharp hands she had. She skated around quickly, leaping forward and bit down on the Pokemon's arm.(I can wait in the future for Elfy to post. I just didn't want to be the reason for holding you two up!) Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro's first Gym Battle was not going as well as he'd have liked. Not that Viola was any sort of a problem. Attica did not appreciate the photos, especially from such a pretty lady but she was forbidden from attacking people for "no reason" as both Kintaro and Ms. Ruka had put it. Luckily Surskit offered herself as a perfectly valid target for that jealousy. Attica showed how well she could keep track of the water strider, but that didn't mean anything when she proved too slow to make a difference. Surskit's bite made Attica yelp in pain while Kintaro remained thoughtful. "Surskit is fast, and strong. Stronger than Attica. Normally I would recall my Pokemon and assess my strategy. Steel Type might resist Bug Type, but Dark is weak to it. Attica's natural strength doesn't help here." He spoke loudly so that Hana could hear him. "However, I get one opportunity to make this work. In this situation I'm making a mistake, but I believe it will do enough damage to help as well. Attica, use Revenge!" The man called out to his Pawniard. "Now you're in for it..." The Pawniard growled at her opponent, her sharp gaze falling on Surskit from beneath her helmet. The Pawniard turned on the Surskit and took advantage of their proximity. It hurt her arm making a maneuver that basically used the bite to take her target off-balance but she was more than willing to deal with that for Kintaro! While she couldn't quite deliver the power she had wanted, Attica still managed to deliver a flurry of strong blows against Surskit even with her speed.
"In a normal Battle, I should either deal as much damage as possible or switch Attica right away instead of this. But now I'm going to take this opportunity with Attica and Surskit having traded blows to change my partner. Mena! It's your turn!" Called out Kintaro. While Attica was drawn back into her ball the beautiful Butterfree erupted into freedom with a gleeful cry! Mena fluttered eagerly and even cried out a greeting to her enemies. She had been made to rest since getting her new form and now she was more than happy just to have someone see her! Viola got plenty of good shots from the butterfly Pokemon while Kintaro did his best to exercise patience. It was Surskit's move and she had ample opportunity to make Kintaro regret sending his Butterfree out to battle.

Elfy rooker Leader ViolaViola listened to the challenger explained his battling tactics fairly through, and was a bit impressed at how well he was at explaining it. She would have thought he had a few badges by now. Maybe he did, he was a man that was clearly older then the gym leader herself. Viola listened to him explain, he seemed to think his Pawniard, she learned to be named Attica, wasn't as strong as her Surskit. She had known the Pokemon to be fairly strong depending on their age, but maybe she wasn't just at that point. However, the male seemed to say that he was willingly making a 'mistake' to attack. The Pokemon turned on the Bug water type in a series of jabbing attacks, as she did her trainer. The Surskit knew what to do and slid away the best she could, attempting to dodge the blows, however only managing to dodge maybe one or two. Viola had almost forgotten she was suppose to have been explaining and demonstrating what was happening for the young woman on the side lines. She was too caught up in capturing the action packed Pawniard and her flurry of attacks. Bug bite might not have been a good attack to photograph but this... Her form and technique... It was clear Attica had mastered this jab. Surskit was sent backwards and the many attacks and blows caused her little stick like legs to falter as she stumbled away. The Pokemon sent a flurry of bubbles at Attica to try and keep her from advancing on the bug. Viola suddenly shook herself out of it, and remembered her task at hand. "Pokemon to have a natural instinct for battling and what to do. As you saw, Surskit tried to dodge the attacks on her own, and countered with bubbles to try and stop any further attack." She projected to the audience. "That being said, you must still pay close attention to give your Pokemon the guidance they need." She added. She had seen trainers in the past that just throw out Pokemon to fend for themselves, or even stopped them to call for another attack, only to lead to the team's down fall. The man went onto explain how he was going to return Attica for another Pokemon named Mena.
The blonde was curious as to what Pokemon it might be. She had only seen two Pokemon from him, Attica and the Quilladin by his side. Was he a tend person, being a grass, steel, dark trainer? But she didn't have to wait long, and was pleasantly surprised. She let out an audible gasp as the butterfree came into view. She began to beam as she looked at the beautiful butterfly fluttering before her and began to take rapid fire pictures. "Oh! She's so beautiful, and her wings look nice and healthy!" She exclaimed happily. Now bugs were her expertise, she loved all Bug types, beauiful, big, or creepy. She found it hard not to be excited when one was presented to her. Despite them being fairly common because of the Santalune Forest, not many used them against her unless they were the only Pokemon left. Viola cleared her throat as she took a breath trying to lul her excitement. "Now I'm met with a sort of dilemma for my next move, almost like his last one with his Pawniard. Bug Types naturally are resistant to their own moves, so I have to change my strategy if I want a chance at defeating this lovely butterfree." She explained, taking a moment to think. She couldn't use the same move as she did previously, and any sort of scent or powder move she was sure the Butterfree could take due to it's own powdery wings. "I'm going to play towards Surskit's speed again, and use a move to hopefully catch her off guard. Surskit use Quick Attack" Viola called out. The Surskit nodded, having been skating in circles as she waited for the battle to continue. The bug sprung back into action skating forward towards the butterfly even faster then before. Kintaro Satoshi Surskit's counterattack had caught Kintaro by surprise. Attica was still being recalled with or without the extra incentive but he had not anticipated the speed with which Surskit could retaliate. He should have analyzed her more thoroughly. Attica did some damage--and her Shell Bell had saved the Pawniard--which left Kintaro feeling like he had at least some advantage here. It was a Gym Battle and he had the freedom to use more Pokemon. He could do this easily. He didn't want to do it that way. "Mena! Welcome to the battle. Could you do me a favor and use Gust?" Called the trainer, his demeanor seeming to change with each Pokemon he sent to fight. He was speaking to Mena with a similar formal tone he had been using with Viola, and young David before her, but this was still his Pokemon and his comfort with the Butterfree was apparent. Mena had been blinded at first by Viola's eager snaps, but still she flitted in the air offering as much exposure as the Butterfree could think of. "Oh my! I never expected to be so popular!" Cried the Butterfree through the power of Psychic. "Oh! Sorry, Master! I couldn't ignore a fan!" She apologized quickly, yelping at Surskit when the little strider dashed around showing off that impressive speed before striking Mena with Quick Attack. "AUGH! Battle! Right! I'm sorry!" Mena didn't seem too thrilled to take on Surskit, but she obeyed all the same and flapped her wings with intensity until she whipped up a small whirlwind. Try as she might Surskit wouldn't be able to escape the growing wind shear and Mena used her psychic power to maintain the vortex until Surskit was pulled in and battered around by the wind. When Mena released her control over her Gust she made sure Surskit's descent was gentle, setting the water strider on the ground instead of letting her fall. She felt it was appropriate for a lady like her to treat even enemies with care.
"If this wasn't my Gym Challenge, I may have exhibited another Move for education's sake. But I can't afford to treat you like a simple sparring partner. Gust is a Flying Type attack, proven to be quite effective against Bug Type Pokemon. Surskit was too fast for me to have a proper answer against, there was no recourse but to defeat her as quickly as possible with more powerful attacks." Kintaro announced, explaining his reasoning for finishing off Surskit. "I am confident that your next Pokemon will exact a toll for this. Mena, I'm trusting you." She wasn't going to be able to beat Viola's next Pokemon, but he believed she could get just one shot in before she fell, and that was--hopefully--all he would need to win this match. He knew Vivillon could be strong, though he didn't know for sure that was going to be Viola's next choice. "I'm grateful, Ms. Viola. Gym Leaders really are a special sort." Kintaro remarked with a thin smile. It was as sweet as he was going to get. Odyss, on the other hand, was cheering and flailing with excitement. Attica had come so close to losing, now Mena had beaten Attica's opponent and was about to face the leader's next choice. "GO MENA! YOU'RE THE BEST!" Shouted the Quilladin with gusto. It may have occurred to onlookers that Odyss would need some pompoms if he was going to be such an enthusiastic supporter.

Odyss's cheering had given Hana an idea. She couldn't cheer for Kintaro and Mena on her own since she was incapable of yelling- despite her best attempts at it she was sure they couldn't hear her awkward little squeaking sounds. That was fine though. Her Pokemon could yell for her! She picked her Fletchling's Pokeball out of her bag, releasing the little bird into the spot beside her Froakie. Both Froakie and Fletchling were more than capable of making enough noise to make up for her inability to do so. She hadn't intended for Baloth to be let out of his Pokeball as well. The Deino's Pokeball was knocked out of her bag while she was attempting to put Lily's away, letting the confused green Pokemon out directly in front of her. She snatched him up immediately before he could try to run or bite someone and held him in her lap. He roared at nothing in particular. There was a lot of noise around him and he felt like he should be making noise too. Hana let him roar since he was technically doing what she wanted. Both Lily and Zinnia could only whine at their trainer before inching away a bit and mimicking Odyss's cheers with just as much enthusiasm. Elfy rooker Leader ViolaHer attack did land on the Butterfree, and Surskit tried to land and make some distance from the Pokemon, learning from the painful jabs from before. Viola was really enjoying the Butterfree's personality. It was rare that a Pokemon spoke through the battle. She smiled listening to the Pokemon's apparent joy at her popularity. "Of course, you're so photogenic!" She replied, however with a clear of his throat the butterfree realized their situation, calling her a fan. This caused her smile to fade, however as the gusts began to pick up and the butterfly formed a vortex. "Quick, move away from from the Vortex!" The blonde called out, as she held her hair out of her eyes as the winds began to pick up around her too. Surskit began to slide and skate across the floors, but she only made it about a foot before the whirlwinds stopped her in her tracks. She slowly slid backwards, although her feet were still going but she wasn't strong enough to power through it. She soon list her footing as she was lifted up and backwards into the cyclone. There wasn't anything Viola could really do, a flurry of bubbles were seen in the winds of the vortex as she tried anything to get out, but it failed. The blonde snapped a few pictures, as it soon faded and the her Surskit slowly coasted onto the ground.
Viola smiled in thanks of the Butterfree's mercy and kindness as to let her Pokemon down gently as she returned the Pokemon. He began to explain that he would have aimed for a longer battle, had it not been a league battle. She appreciated his stand, and choice, even though it lead to her Pokemon's down fall. "That was a very smart move. We are demonstrating for your friend, but as a league battle, you have to play a little hard ball." She explained. "In a league game, if you have an opportunity you need to take it, even if it might not seem nice. We are trained battlers, and won't pull our punches. We can take it, and no Gym Leader would take it personally." She told the challenger, but more importantly projecting that to the young woman on the side lines. However, she had a quick thought about some of the other regions and Gym Leaders.... Like Misty... and Whitney..."Well, if they aren't nice about it, that reflects on them, not your skill." She added with a nervous laugh. She pulled out a Pokeball as some noise caught her attention. The Cyan haired trained let out a few Pokemon as they began to cheer, A Deino, Fletchling, and Froakie, on top of the challenger's Quilladin next to him. "Sounds like the audience is definitely in your favor, I have my work cut out of me, huh?" She joked as she let out her Vivillon. She was in a bit of a bind, Vivillon was up against another Bug Flying type. Another Butterfly, so her moves were a bit... limited. "Oh hello!" The Vivillon greeted. "So now we're at a bit of a stand off, Bug flying type against a bug flying type. So when this happens you just have to know which moves would be best. Clearly, Mena would be resistant to any bug type attacks. But interestingly enough, They are still weak to flying type attacks. So we have to work fast." She explained and projected. She thought quickly, having used her time as she spoke to ponder on what would be best. "Alright, use Psybeam!" She called out, and Vivillon began to flap her wings rapidly, as her antenna began to glow as a beam of colorful energy began to blast at the other butterfly. Kintaro Satoshi Between Viola's own bright encouragement and the new cheer section up in the seats Mena was feeling invincible! Sure Surskit had hurt her with Quick Attack, but that was nothing she couldn't handle! The Butterfree felt pretty good about herself. She had beaten a Gym Leader's Pokemon and was now about to square off against the next one. Admittedly she was taken by surprise with Vivillon's own friendly greeting. Maybe if she had focused she would have reacted faster. By the time she got over how excited everyone was, Vivillon had already fired Psybeam. Mena was shocked and felt like she had been sucker punched even though no one but herself had distracted Mena. "Don't underestimate me!" Psybeam struck while Mena's own antennae glowed and her Butterite shone. Psybeam seemed to impact a Psychic field and the conflicting energies erupted in a furious explosion. The cloud obscured Mena's shape temporarily but the lack of a pile of Butterfree indicated she had managed to withstand Vivillon's attack. A vaguely similar shape became clearer in the smoke before a sharp sweep of her wings cleared it almost instantly. "I'll show you what Master means to me!" She declared with fervor. Mena had Mega Evolved for the sake of surviving the attack! Viola was treated to a battered Mega Butterfree though her expert eye would be able to see Vivillon had done her damage. Kintaro was frozen with shock, unaware of what Mega Evolution was really like considering he had never had bonds with his own Pokemon before. Mena was clearly pleased with herself, able to sense that all eyes were on her, but there was a hitch in her flapping and the Mega Butterfree listed as the damage caught up with her. "No...It still...wasn't enough." Mourned the butterfly Pokemon. Her wings glistened with the light of Mega Evolution before the power used shattered and her beautiful new form fell apart to leave the beaten Butterfree as her normal self. Kintaro stepped forward without thinking, dashing the last few steps so that he caught Mena in his arms. "Mena! You're OK now. Get some rest. You did everything you could." He praised his Butterfree, a small frown touching his lips with the sound of Mena weeping in everybody's minds. She had tried to use the strange stone she had carried with her since she was a Caterpie and still she failed. Her voice faded from the room when Kintaro returned her and he stood up to return to his position at the end of the field.
"I apologize. I had no idea my Butterfree was so passionate about Battling." He straightened and smoothed his shirt while he resumed his carefully professional demeanor. He had been doing a lot better with Viola's energy encouraging him to act with more feeling but now Mena's disruption had snapped him out of his vigor and he withdrew back to his formal default. "Hawke! It's your turn. Let us compare your Vivillon to mine, shall we?" The declaration should have been invigorating. Viola should have had chills at the idea of testing her Vivillon against another trainer's. Instead he presented the idea with a bland tone. He made the battle itself feel less exciting. Even his smile was cold and empty. The expression of a man performing a task with no heart. His Pokemon, at least, offered some much-needed life to the situation as Hawke chirped an enthusiastic greeting. "Hey! I'm Haw--WOWEE WOWEE WOW! You're pretty!" the male Vivillon cried. He didn't want to fight a cute Vivillon! But it was still a battle, and he didn't want to lose either. "Hawke. Get ready. She's already hurt Attica and Mena just fainted. You're my next defense. Get ready to use Stun Spore. Limiting our opponent's movement will be our best chance." He informed the Vivillon, only causing him to swoon for this lady Vivillon. She had to be one tough cookie to take out Attica and Mena both. Of course, he failed to understand that Vivillon had only beaten Mena. Who could still not be impressed with this pretty thing beating one of the scariest females he knew?

Elfy rooker Leader ViolaViola watched as the two Butterflies squared off. Each had psychic abilities, not only could the Butterfree talk which Viola found very quite pleasant, but she could harness it. She caught the Psybeam and tried to combat it, which Viola got a few shots off before there was an explosion of psychic energy. Viola flinched and looked away, shielding her face out of shock, as Vivillon wavered in the air. Once the smoke cleared left Viola's jaw to drop, and left a very shocked expression on Vivillon's face. "Oh my-" Viola exclaimed, as she forced herself out of her gave of the beloved mega evolved Butterfree, and snapped a few quick pictures before the Pokemon felt faint. She had never seen a Mega Butterfree before, and it was so beautiful! She must meet her after the battle! She could barely contain her excitement as it soon faded as Mena fainted. Viola watched as he quickly moved forward to catch the kind, and newly mega, Butterfree. The opponent returned to his side and apologized for her passion. Viola shook her head quickly. "Being passionate is nothing to be sorry for. Mena was a delight to battle." Viola complimented. She was met with another dilemma that she was excited about. Another Vivillon appeared on the field. She beamed happily and of course took a few shots. She was able to take loads of beautiful pictures of her own Vivillon, of course. But his Vivillon, Hawke, had one of the many patterns she didn't have. "I have to say, I love your choice in Pokemon!" Viola told him smiling. She had seen his starter, as well, a Pawniard, and two. Count them. two butterfly Pokemon. Most didn't square off with her with Bug Pokemon, so even if it left her at a type disadvantage, it made her day. And it seemed they were strong Pokemon too, despite fainting or being returned. Heck one even mega evolved that she didn't know about. She was more then happy to be here battling him, as well as teach his vibrantly color haired friend. Who, she seemed to be quiet, but her Pokemon were very vocal about their support for the challenger. She was happy to test which Vivillon would come out on top, but her smile faltered as he filled in Hawke. Of course, it was a battle, and it was tough, but she never liked to think about it as hurting each other... Maybe more of a test of strength. "Hello, Hawke, I hope we can have a nice battle. " She greeted to him. As she created the fellow male butterfly, Viola listened to the opponent, calling him to use Stun spore to immobilize her. "That is a very good strategy. Immobilizing an opponent is a fairly good way to turn the battle in your favor." She began. "As good as it is, I think we will do the same. Vivillon, use Sleep powder!" Viola called out. The pink Vivillon fluttered high in the air. "Oh, I hope you and the butterfree don't hold it against me!" She exclaimed, hoping her fellow butterflies wouldn't be upset. As she began to bat her wings at the Vivillon, coating him in green powder.(I'm so sorry for making you wait, I've been sick for the past few days. If any thing further stops me, I'll ask Paradisity to take over for you so you to don't have to wait.) Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro wasn't ready for Vivillon to beat him to the punch. His expression remained carefully neutral as he contemplated his next move. Hawke should be allowed to fight, but he wasn't willing to let his other butterfly get pummeled just to find out which would give first. "That was an error, but I won't make another in the name of pride. Hawke has helped me determine another threat." Remarked the male, stroking his chin. Hawke, on the other hand, got excited when Viola's Vivillon wished for a good battle. Or, he had, until her Sleep Powder had reached him. "Aww, man...No fun." He griped as his eyes grew heavy and his wing beats grew weaker until he drifted to the ground like a whining feather. Soon after falling asleep, Hawke was recalled to his ball and Kintaro pulled another from his hip. "There's no reason for this to work, but if it does then the ending will come quickly." He was speaking more to himself though Viola could hear him clearly. "Mary, I need your help!" Called out Kintaro as he released his Shiny Luxio. Unlike his previous Pokemon who were vibrant and full of life, Mary came out laying on the ground with her tail tucked against her side. The Pokemon was clearly upset and her trainer's body language betrayed that he knew why. When she finally realized she wasn't in her ball anymore, Mary raised her head to fix Kintaro with an unhappy gaze. Her tail flicked up with a mix of hope and agitation. This Luxio did not want to be here, but she did want to see her trainer. Her emotional state was as obvious as Kintaro's discomfort dealing with his odd one out at this moment. "Mary. I need your help to defeat this Vivillon. Can you do that? Mary, use your Charge." He declared calmly, speaking in that clear formal tone he hadn't really used on any of his Pokemon except his Pawniard until now. "I may still have my Quilladin but, in complete honesty, if Mary fails then it would be in the interest of expedience to forfeit." Stated Kintaro aloud as he fixed Viola with a patient stare. He wasn't behaving like a bummed child wanting to quit while he was behind. It was a calculation. That meant he didn't think his Quilladin could defeat her, that also meant he didn't think Mary could pull herself together in time to take down Vivillon. A failing on his part more than anything, he was admitting that his team was not ready if Viola managed to overcome his Luxio. His entire strategy now depended on her snapping out of the funk he had caused.

Elfy rooker Leader ViolaViola watched as her Vivillon fluttered back down. Her challenger was quite composed in his demeanor, even with running out on to the field for his Butterfree, and getting Jabbed by his Pawniard. It was interesting for her to be battling someone that took it so seriously. She herself took the battle itself seriously, being her job, but was very happy go lucky as a person, and tried to make it fun for those challenging her. He was quite a bit older and more mature then the usual trainer that challenged her. Most of the time it was a youngster that thought they were ready, or a y teen that thought they could get an easy win. However there were some who surprised her, and it would seem he was one of them. Viola wasn't sure if his friend was going to battle her, or if she was just here to observe. Viola was hope she'd be able to see how her battle style was starting to develop. He seemed to say that his choice was a mistake of pride, which she could understand. His vivillon was quite the sight, both appearing healthy. However, shortly after drifting to the ground, the returned the Pokemon. "I suppose it is always good to know when the odds are stacked up against you, and it's always smart to know when to switch out even if the Pokemon is still conscious. Well, sorta..." She spoke, still projecting so the challenger, and more importantly, his friend could hear. The other Vivillon was put to sleep, so it wasn't a surprising move to return him. But what was surprising was the Pokemon he soon let out. A shiny Luxio. She lazily laid on the battle floor as the blonde's mouth beamed another grin as she snapped a few photos, having to crouch and zoom to get the shots she wanted. "Yet another beautiful Pokemon, her golden coat is so shiny and healthy looking. Oh!" She spoke, as she stood back up looking to the opponent. Vivillon too this time to also greet her opponent, hoping that this one might last a bit longer. "Hello! I hope we have a nice battle." she greeted kindly, in her... feminine voice... This gave him time to get the leg up on her, much like she had before. He calmly called for her to Charge. "As I said before, Vivillon is a flying type, as well as bug, so she's naturally weak against electric types. So now I have to try and stall the battle, if possible." She began. Before she called for an attack, he spoke about even with having Pokemon, he might forfeit if Mary goes down, giving her a calm and plain stare. This caught the Gym Leader off guard. She hesitated for a moment, causing her Butterfly to look back. She could see that he wasn't throwing a tantrum some youngsters throw upon losing, but he mentioned forfeiting. She began to get the feeling from him she got when reading about Skyla when she got in trouble with the League, and how she went about her Gym Battles logically through her mind rather then actually preforming them. "Don't be that guy. Have a little faith in your Pokemon, maybe if she can't do it another could. Pokemon some times can surprise even their own trainers." Viola spoke to him. She wasn't upset, nor did she feel like she was really lecturing him. He was older after all. She was more bummed at the idea of him quitting. It was against the rules to just quit in a league game, but Viola and David weren't going to tackle him if he made a run for it. Viola didn't know if her words would work, but she let out a breath before calling for her attack. "Vivillon, use Psybeam, try and confuse her!" Viola called out. Just like before, Vivillon's antenna began to glow, only now she fluttered backwards a bit, having experienced the explosion from before. Her antenna sent out a wave of psychic energy barreling at the golden feline. Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro fixed Viola with a sharp scowl, showing his disdain for her goading. “I have a Kakuna—who will not be able to withstand Psybeam even once—and my Quilladin who also has a distinct disadvantage against both Flying and Bug Types. You tell me if trying to spare my team a complete humiliation due to my own hubris is something ‘that guy’ would do.” His tone was scolding, explaining further that Mary’s victory was integral to this battle ending in his favor. “Mary, I cannot afford wait for this to be resolved naturally. I need you to fight if this battle is going to end in anything but failure. Please. I don’t deserve it, but I need your strength. Use Spark if you can, Mary!” Declared the older male, hoping Mary was willing to at least put away her hurt feelings for Kintaro’s sake. Or maybe her own. Vivillon’s Psybeam looked like it was painful and Mary began sparking and shuddering with power. She glared at Vivillon from under the fur near her eyes, charging forward as she cloaked herself in electricity and struck the friendly butterfly with all the force she could in a single blow. Unlike Mena who had been trying to engage in a battle and make it safe and fun for herself and her opponents, Mary decided she didn’t like Vivillon and was showing exactly how she felt in her attacks.
