Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro may not have seen Pikachu's attempt to electrocute his trainer, but he did see the sparks in his cheeks when Hanako hugged him. The discharge of electricity was scarcely heard but he felt his skin tingle ever-so-briefly from the charge in the air. He didn't have to look down to guess what happened as he made a gesture with his hand that was a subtle "good job" signal he would teach to Vervain later on. He kept his eyes on Hanako the entire time, apparently he was used to signaling others in the midst of conversation. The hug--and subsequent kiss--threw him for a loop. He stood tense while Joy only smiled and made a cute remark about couples training together. His next gesture was less polite, but he at least wasn't being rude to her. "I agree. Though I do not think Gandor will appreciate the hospitality. Not at first." He remarked, looking away and nodding gratefully to Joy as she returned his team and took the ball he had for Gandor. "Oh, and my Number, of course." He stated suddenly, realizing that it would be easier if he kept in touch. "Let me know when you're finished with my Rotom." He elaborated, not realizing he sounded like he was flirting when offering the pretty nurse his contact information. He looked back to Hanako now that he had his affairs in order, wincing and letting out a sharp yelp as Attica promptly jabbed him in the calf with her sharp elbow. The Pawniard was unreasonably jealous, but Kintaro had also been paying more attention to Hanako lately. He had also given attention to Mena, who liked to tease Attica for the way she felt. Kintaro could only scowl at his Pawniard. "I could leave you here with Gandor. Nurse Joy is treating him to a 'spa day' of sorts." That prevented the second jab from connecting. Attica instead stared doe-eyed up at her trainer as if the very thought were torture to her.
Once the teams were healed and Gandor was situated, Kintaro suggested they move along and see what they could find around the city. He did still have goals before facing the Santalune Gym. With Hanako around he had to be sure to be successful, or at least have the right reasons to fail. His Pokemon weren't ready to fight just yet. Mary and Gandor couldn't run him through the battles themselves. Hanako wouldn't learn anything except that Electric Type beat Flying Type. At least...he assumed at least one of the Pokemon would be Flying. Kintaro stopped suddenly, blinking at the sudden realization that he had forgotten to do research on his opponent ahead of time. It was unnerving. Yet he decided not to let that stop him. Attica was still going to be part of the battle if she could handle it. He would start there. Hanako didn't seem to notice Joy's comment about "couples" training together. She was far too distracted by her Pikachu, which had sat itself down beside her legs in an attempt to avoid Vervain. What had once been his target would now function as a meat shield to protect him from the Drillbur. "What's wrong, sweetie?" Hanako picked up the Pikachu and frowned. Perhaps he didn't like the city either. The poor baby had spent who knows how long in the forest after all. She continued to cuddle the electric type until Kintaro suggested they head elsewhere, at which point she returned him. If he was uncomfortable in the city then she wasn't going to make him walk around with her.
As soon as they were back outside Hanako found herself standing just as close to Kintaro as her Pikachu had to her. "Um...Where should we go first?" She looked around nervously before wincing. She really didn't like cities. They were loud, crowded, and generally unappealing. Not to mention there was a gym battle coming up soon that she would have to worry about. Despite all of this she had convinced herself that things might be okay so long as she remained near Kintaro and their Pokemon. She felt safer with them around. Vervain walked a few feet ahead of the trainers before stopping to wait for them, much more at ease now that the Pikachu wasn't out with Zinnia and himself. Neither Drillbur nor Froakie shared their trainer's fear of the city. They were ready to explore.

Kintaro Satoshi Things were not as he expected them to be. On the one hand, he had Attica practically clinging to his left calf. Normal when she got particularly jealous of Ms. Ruka. It stood to reason she would get possessive with Hanako around as well. Less normal was having a grown woman clinging to him like a frightened little girl. Hanako was holding onto his right arm, which had prompted Attica's possessive behavior to begin with. He did not foresee things getting any better either. With the Pokemon taken care of and his day plans progressing much faster than he expected, Kintaro realized he had to care for himself. Well, more like Attica jabbed him in the ankle and pointed at the nearby shop. He glowered at his Pawniard before noticing where she was directing his attention. "Oh. All right. That is a legitimate reason to jab for attention." He relented, kneeling down to pat Attica on the head. His Pawniard's flushed face was proof, but she made noises like she was trying to berate him even as she swooned and her metallic body tingled with delight. Her good mood quickly tapered off when Kintaro stood to point the store out to Hanako. If he hadn't needed new clothes himself, she would have thought to avoid such a terrible place! She only watched on as the wicked girl was corrupting her trainer once more. Kintaro, meanwhile, was in the real world where Hanako and he needed new clothes. Well, maybe she didn't, but he wanted to find out. "Attica had an excellent idea. I only have this and a couple other sets of clothing. Santalune City, fortunately, has a collection of clothing stores." He pointed out the main one nearby that had several trainers entering and exiting already. "With Bug Type Pokemon being more abundant around the area it became easy to create fabric, particularly silks." He continued as he led Hanako toward the store's front doors. He didn't expect her to fight him, but he doubted she would willingly enter right now with the idea that the store would be crowded.
Much to the pair's surprise and relief, the store was not crowded at all. There was room enough for the two of them to shop together. Kintaro walked easily through the store and found his way to a more business-appropriate shirt and pants, one suit for occasions, and two extra outfits for his adventure. A good pair of swim trunks were grabbed as an afterthought. He didn't think he would need them yet, but it paid to be prepared. In spite of that very sentiment he did neglect a proper winter outfit for the time being. He kept near Hanako, but had encouraged the girl to venture off and find some clothes of her own. It was Vervain that finally managed to convince Hanako to detach herself from Kintaro's arm and search the store for clothing as well. Her current wardrobe consisted entirely of her dress and the outfit she was wearing. Expanding it was probably a good idea. The Drillbur pointed out different outfits to her, eventually convincing Zinnia to help him with the search. They were careful about picking out a new dress for Hanako, selecting one that fell just above her knees in an attempt to make sure they avoided another incident like the one with the river. Swimwear resulted in a somewhat heated debate between Froakie and Drillbur. It would have been a far simpler process had they not both been convinced they could hear Primrose lecturing them from her Pokeball. Agreeing on what would look cute on Hanako was easy. Settling on something that would satisfy Primrose was not. Hanako stood a short distance away from her Pokemon, watching helplessly as they argued among themselves. She was worried she might have upset her Pokemon somehow. Before she had the chance to ask, she found herself staring timidly at an overzealous shop employee who decided to take it upon herself to help the shy girl out. She regretted leaving Taro's side. One moment she was following her Pokemon around the store and the next she was being guided towards the changing rooms with several outfits she hadn't even considered as options before. "This one should be empty. Let me know how everything fits! The one with the flower print will look great on you." The employee commented cheerfully as Hanako quickly hid in the room she had been directed to.
"I didn't know shopping was this exhausting." She sighed before glancing through the clothes in her arms. Some of them were actually kind of cute. If she could find her voice later she would have to thank the employee for trying to help her. Hanako looked up from the clothes to find herself staring not at an empty dressing room but at Kintaro. "Oh! So this is where you vanished to. Are all shop employees super cheerful?" She was more concerned with whether or not overly happy employees were common than she was with the fact that she had just walked in on Kintaro. "Hey, do you think you could help me with this thing? The person that helped me said the flowers would look cute but I don't think I'm coordinated to tie the back of it by myself." Hanako gestured towards what she could only assume was part of some form of swimwear after finding a decent spot to hang the clothes that had been picked out for her. "It's for swimming, right? I'm not sure it'll even fit. It's kind of small." She shrugged before removing her shirt and attempting to figure out how the top was suppose to go on. She was convinced whoever designed it had gone out of their way to make it complicated. "All of these extra strings are completely unnecessary."

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro was still in the midst of changing clothes when Hanako was--unwittingly--shoved into the room with him. He had most definitely hung his card on the door, so how...? There was Hanako all the same, acting like everything was normal even though her traveling partner was in naught but his boxers. "W-w-wait. Hold--Stop!" WHUMP! Kintaro had tried to stop Hanako from undressing but when that failed he threw himself out of the changing room to avoid things getting worse. Her request had been reasonable, but expecting him to endure that kind of misbehavior was twisted beyond his ability to stand! His own mistake quickly came back to bite him as one of the female trainers screamed in shock. Kintaro looked up to find he had attracted attention with his little panic ending with two trainers and an employee coming to inspect what was going on. Kintaro opened his mouth to protest the immediate judgment, then closed it as he scowled at the employee. "Somebody took my dress card." He growled, jabbing a finger at the room Hanako was more than likely peeking out from now to make sure he was OK. The situation may have become a big scene if one of the trainers hadn't recognized the way his right arm was hanging. "Dude! Are you--" Kintaro had stood up at this point, gathering his pants up around his waist and meeting the young man with a cold stare that dared him to finish that sentence. The girl and employee both realized that he was now using only one hand to do anything which did not match up with how quickly or desperately he had moved to get up and get himself decent. His scarred body was the least of their concern as he fixed each person with those cold eyes. He was thrown off from his aggressive answer to compassion when Hanako reentered the scene and dragged him back into the dressing room. That icy glare was gone and replaced with one of distress as the terrible creature that was Kintaro was reminded he had a far worse threat to deal with than the "intruders."
"Sto--don't do that!" He growled, using his "stupid people" tone out of habit and turning away from Hanako. He winced as his arm swung slightly, giving her a hint that something had gone wrong when he fell out of the room a moment ago. Kintaro wasn't exactly a spring Torchic after all. Even without being able to clearly see his scars, it was no secret that he moved with care. Leaving the changing room later was not going to be fun. If they were lucky by the time they got Kintaro back in order the other people would have moved on and forget about everything that just happened. Speaking of Kintaro...Hanako stared at him quietly, unsure of how to proceed. Some situations couldn't easily be fixed with hugs and kisses. She would need to take a far gentler approach, were that even possible, with Kintaro. Hanako carefully moved so that she was in front of him, taking care not to disturb his arm more than necessary. She needed to try to calm him down before she could even attempt to offer to fix it. "They're beautiful by the way." She paused for a moment before pressing the tip of her finger as delicately as possible against a portion of his scars, tracing them as far as she thought would be allowable before looking up and smiling. "They're like a map. I think if I followed them closely enough they could tell me how you became Taro." That was something she would have to try another day however. For now she took Kintaro's hand in her own, hesitating for the briefest of moments before resting his hand against her cheek, just beneath her eyepatch. If she took herself out of her comfort zone as well then perhaps he would calm down enough for her to be able to try to fix whatever was wrong with his arm. It wasn't like he wasn't going to see it eventually, she reasoned, but it didn't make her any less nervous. "T-this..." Hanako winced but still removed her eyepatch, gripping it tightly enough that she was certain she had ruined the flower on it. "This is...This is as good a time as any for you to become acquainted with my scars too." She continued, refusing to look up at Taro at all now that her face was completely exposed. She didn't need to look up at him to be able to help with his arm though. Maybe if she tried hard enough she could get through this entire process without actually looking at him. "C-can you teach me how to fix your arm? It looks like it hurts." That one simple statement was enough to remind her of what she was supposed to be focusing on. Hanako felt silly for worrying about something like her eye when there was a chance that Kintaro was in pain. She positioned her arms around his waist, using her hold on him to help her balance long enough to kiss his cheek. 'Okay, so maybe some hugs and kisses are necessary.' She thought to herself as she settled back into her original position, waiting patiently for Kintaro to explain to her how to get his arm back in place.

Kintaro Satoshi Having a half-naked beautiful woman come to your rescue was...weird. He could not express any better his feeling on this abnormal situation. Hanako urging him back into the dressing room should have earned her a smack upside the head in this current attitude, but she stopped him in a way he wouldn't have expected. The way she made herself flinch was proof enough that he was being trusted. He could appreciate that this probably took a lot because he had already assumed she had been hurt by someone when she was younger. He had his hand touching her face and she removed the eyepatch on top of all that. The view was disconcerting even if he was expecting it, but his expression remained stone cold. The focus fell away, then he fixed her with a much calmer stare as if he were looking into the eyes of a normal person that was not missing one of them. The comment she made on his scars was a little easier to deal with. He'd been told something similar when he was young. It resonated well enough to let him calm down. She wasn't trying to hurt him by doing the things she did. He gently raised his hand from her face and gave her a flick on the forehead. "You should mind exposing yourself like that." He chided, though the tone was soft compared to how he'd spoken to the strangers before. "It shouldn't be normal practice for a man and a woman to be like this." He elaborated, although he had made the mistake of telling her there was such a thing as an acceptable time for them to be in such a situation. She couldn't possibly want to be like this all the time.
The question made his gaze harden, but only briefly out of habit. He turned away so that his dislocated arm was in her reach. "Lift my arm at the elbow and twist it past the point of looking uncomfortable." He pat his bicep above the middle. "Put your other hand right here. You're going to twist just a little farther and put your weight into it." He explained, giving her partial instructions. The only task that was specific was the off-center position of Hanako's hand. He wasn't going to tell her why but he knew his arm would break again if she held it anywhere else. There would be a sharp "pop!" and a handful of cracks as his arm was replaced inside of its socket and his shoulder, elbow, and a few other joints popped from the force of Hanako's shunt. Once the task was complete Kintaro pulled away and braced his shoulder as he rotated his arm to test its current range. He would have to throw left-handed while his right repaired itself. The ligaments couldn't do very much without the full support of the bones but it was Kintaro's life. He had to rely on smaller parts to do the job of bigger parts that no longer functioned as intended. He finished dressing quickly, then tended to Hanako's wish for help tying her new swimsuit top and quietly agreed with her statement that it had too damn many strings. He hoped this would be a rare occurrence also. Hanako remained fixed on Kintaro's arm up until he decided to assist her with her top. She was worried she had done something wrong after all of the noise the limb had made but he seemed to be okay. That was good enough for her. She studied herself in the mirror, noting that the top was just a tad bit small. If it stayed in place she assumed it would get the job done just fine. She was willing to settle on something that was the incorrect size if it meant avoiding interacting with that cheerful employee again. Being that happy at work all of the time had to be exhausting. "She was right though. The flowers are cute." Hanako said more to herself than Kintaro. She wondered if she would be allowed to wear the top out of the store if only so she could avoid asking Kintaro to help her untie it. Primrose probably wouldn't be overly thrilled about her wearing something that small casually, especially after she had chosen Hanako's outfit for her. She shuddered at the thought of how upset the Illumise would be with her and attempted to undo the knots herself. It was a struggle but she succeeded eventually. By the time she managed to get them undone she had concluded that she was getting the top, as irritating as it was. Kintaro had helped her get the thing on so that made it special.
"What times are appropriate? To me it's strange to think this is somehow wrong." She hung the top up with the rest of the clothing the employee had decided would be good for Hanako to try on. After studying the rest of the clothing she determined she wouldn't bother to try them on. If they fit, they fit. If they didn't, they didn't. Primrose would find a use for them either way. "You're my friend so this and..." She touched the tips of her fingers beneath her missing eye briefly before dropping her hand back down as quickly as she could. "Even this is okay." Hanako set her eyepatch aside, only just remembering she was crushing it, and retrieved her own shirt. Once it was on she leaned against Kintaro, grinning up at him playfully. "You look great." She pointed to the mirror, taking a moment to admire his reflection before wincing at the sight of herself. She really needed to get her eyepatch back on. Unfortunately she didn't get the chance to before a commotion outside of the changing room caught her attention. "Is that Zinnia?" She could pick out her Pokemon among the sounds of arguing between a man and what sounded like the same employee that had helped her. Whatever was going on couldn't be good. She had never heard Zinnia sound so upset.
Hanako didn't give herself time to think. She ran from the changing room, forgetting her eyepatch entirely. All that mattered was making sure her Pokemon were okay. "Zinnia! Vervain!" She called to her Pokemon, hoping they would come to her side and avoid the fighting. No such luck. Her Froakie was already growling away at the belligerent male's Houndour while Vervain attempted to block off the entrance to the shop. The goal was to keep the trainer from exiting, not to keep anyone else out. "Bourbon? What are you, some kinda alcoholic, lady?" Hanako stood near her Froakie and frowned, attempting to correct the trainer despite her better judgment. "That's not his-" He cut her off in an instant. "Damn, look at the face on this one. Had to balance out that body somehow I guess." She winced, recalling that she had forgotten her eyepatch. Hanako covered her eye, keeping her head down in an attempt to hide herself. Around that time the Houndour lost his patience with Zinnia, letting loose the full force of its Ember despite that probably being one of the worst ideas in a clothing store. Zinnia took the attack in stride, responding right back with a flurry of bubbles. If the Houndour was allowed to continue attacking first it would chip away at Zinnia despite its attack not being very effective but the bubbles seemed to slow it. They could use that to their advantage.

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro was surprised to find Hanako treating him gingerly in a way he wasn't used to being handled. It felt like pity, but he wasn't blind to the difference either. He offered the young woman a patient smile while she struggled to get the top to behave. He was careful as he helped her fit the top as best could be done. "I am not your relative, nor am I your partner." He paused, realizing that might be misunderstood. "You and I do not need to be doing this because we are not married." He amended, explaining what he meant by "partner" so she didn't think he disliked her. So maybe he did, a little, but he wasn't trying to be cruel about that. He gazed into the mirror standing behind Hanako so she couldn't hide from her own appearance. His cheeks burned but he would deal with it. This time. She had her ground rules now. Once she got dressed again--shocking him with another bout of light nudity--Kintaro was on the spotlight just long enough to have a shy blush of his own when Zinnia saved him by arguing with...Uh-oh.
Kintaro straightened his clothes as he walked along, snatching up Hanako's lost eye patch while he strode out with the sense of purpose that came with controlling a situation. It wasn't the belligerent voice that made him realize there was something wrong, but the growling of a Houndour loose in the clothes shop. Attica was released from her ball and directed to slip in underneath the clothing racks. "Control the crowd. Don't let anyone escalate further." He stated calmly, walking up behind the young woman being harassed and touching her shoulder. "I apologize, but would you mind keeping the others from interfering? This is going to be her first Battle. Please." The young lady seemed to appreciate just being pulled away from the vagrant and she nodded quickly in answer. "Sorry about before." He added, giving her a quick nod. "My card was stolen," he paused as he considered other possibilities, "I hope." When Houndour lit up the aisle, Kintaro grit his teeth as he let out Buster for the first time since capturing him. "We need fire suppression. Do you know how?" Kintaro asked as calmly as he could manage. Buster brandished his shovel-like claws at the man before huffing an icy burst onto the burning clothes. "That...actually, yes. That is exactly what I need." He put a hand on the icy Sandslash's head. "Don't fight." Buster looked ready to keep his arm, but he stopped when he realized the Froakie from before was staring down the Houndour. Froakie was friends with the girl that recognized him. Buster snapped his paw toward the ground and scratched deep furrows into the floor. Kintaro let out a low groan and shook his head. Ms. Ruka wasn't going to appreciate damages appearing on the company card. Kintaro now could only bite his tongue, letting Hanako's eye patch hang from his hand so she could see it. He stared straight ahead--unfortunately directly at the boor harassing everyone--showing that he had no intention of interrupting her battle. At least Vervain was already at work protecting the exits. If Hanako noticed Kintaro had her eye patch she didn't say anything. Her Froakie had the entirety of her attention. One wrong move and he could be really hurt, but there were also other people in the store to worry about. Zinnia could take the Houndour out before it could do any further damage. "Zinnia, get as close as possible. Keep it on you." The Houndour had no idea what restraint was. It's only goal at the moment was to set her Pokemon on fire, so they would let it. If they kept it focused on them there was a chance the Houndour wouldn't accidentally hurt someone with one of its reckless attacks. Zinnia lunged at the Houndour, getting right in its face before letting loose another round of bubbles. As expected he was met by the dark type's Ember. The Froakie took the attack head on, hoping to absorb as much of it as he could with his tiny body in an attempt to minimize the damage to their surroundings. Both Hanako and Zinnia felt sorry for the Houndour. The Pokemon was...more than a bit dumb. And he couldn't help that he had a terrible trainer. Still, a battle was a battle. This could only end one way as far as Zinnia was concerned. The Froakie ducked to the side before he could be swatted away and proceeded to hit the Houndour in the side of the face, hard. It was out in an instant.
Zinnia had only a few brief seconds to try to collect himself before he found himself in Hanako's arms. The Froakie was injured and exhausted, so he might have welcomed the cuddling had his trainer not been so close to tears. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have told you to do that." Hanako held the little Froakie close to herself, still keeping her head down in an attempt to hide her face. As it turned out, she hadn't noticed that Kintaro had her eye patch. She had been too focused on the battle. While Hanako was busy trying not to breakdown crying in the middle of the store, Vervain had made his way over to Kintaro. There was too much attention on the rude trainer for him to escape now. He tilted his head at the sight of Buster, poking at the other Pokemon with his claws before pointing towards Hanako. She had just risked Zinnia getting hurt to try to ensure that both the store and people/Pokemon within it would be okay. His attempts at digging in the floor were hurting his trainer's cause. He made sure to inform the Sandslash of this before tapping his claws against Kintaro's leg, awkwardly attempting to hold the card that had previously gone missing from the changing room door out to him. The Drillbur gestured towards the trainer that had caused all of the trouble and let out a low growl. He couldn't draw out what was going on like he had in the forest so he hoped Kintaro was still able to make some sense of what he was trying to say.

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro gave Vervain a short wave with two fingers, signing to the Pokemon to let his Sandslash's behavior be for now. Not that he didn't appreciate Vervain's immediate response to Buster acting like this was acceptable behavior, but it was Kintaro's duty to train his Pokemon. Vervain shouldn't have to deal with that, especially when the Sandslash glared down at the Drillbur as if his behavior was none of the other Pokemon's business. Zinnia's battle was quick and exactly the kind of outcome one would expect from the type match. Houndour was handily defeated with minimal damage to the shop and the people surrounding. Kintaro's deadpan stare fell on the troublesome young man after reclaiming his missing dress card. He had a reputation to uphold. There was no benefit stooping to his level. Ms. Ruka would--actually, Alyssa would surely cheer if she knew what he was thinking. "Excuse me. I believe you dropped something." Kintaro stated calmly, holding up the card with the light shining in his glasses to hide the sharp stare from behind them. The male turned around to growl something about the annoying four-eyes trying to act tough, but he seemed to have a sense of self-preservation in there somewhere and recognized an angry individual quickly enough. Kintaro had no actual proof that he'd stolen it, but that didn't stop the young man from wordlessly admitting his guilt by getting instantly nervous. They both knew how Hanako wound up in his changing room, though the bully had not expected something so funny. "I am going to assault you now." The trainer opened his mouth to protest the declaration only to eat that knuckle sandwich, Kintaro following through with enough force to drive the other male off of his feet and back toward the exit. The door slid open automatically and the punk hit the ground halfway outside. The door automatically attempted to close, struck his waist, then opened again. It continuously chimed and attempted to close while Kintaro nursed his throbbing hand. He discreetly put a dislocated finger back in place while massaging his knuckles to find he had--miraculously--not broken his hand on such a thick skull. He presented the now-broken card to the store employee with a calm dip of his head. "This is why you put Ms. Lucali into my dressing room." It was good to know at least that nobody in the store was trying to play Matchmaker.
"You forgot this, Ms. Lucali." Kintaro spoke softly, as if consoling the young trainer for a mistake that was not as terrible as she might feel it was. He pushed her hair away from her missing eye and secured the patch over it as though he had done such a thing many times. The methodical creature he was, Kintaro was more than capable of learning a new trick rather quickly. His return of the eye patch was slow, but he had only failed to tighten the strap completely in the end. He had decided she needed the extra space rather than absolute security. She seemed free spirited enough for that to make sense to him. "You have done well. Zinnia only requires light treatment." He informed her, standing slowly. He noticed a bit late that something was not quite right. A Pidgey had flown into the store thanks to his punching out the man who had caused most of the trouble for today. It had managed to pick out Mena's Pokeball from Kintaro's hip, pecking at it after knocking it to the ground until his Metapod was released. Kintaro was too impressed with the skills necessary to drop and open a Pokeball to realize he had something else to worry about. Mena bounced once and struck Pidgey only to have both Pokemon reel in shock from hitting each other at the same time. "Attica, please get this under control." Kintaro groaned, crouching down to the level of the two creatures battling while Attica came out making jabbing motions with her blades. She was encouraging the Pidgey to beat up her trainer's Metapod which only got her and Mena arguing over the point of Kintaro even calling her out. Attica did her job, bracing against a Gust that threw Mena into the air before charging her blades with Psychic power. As Mena came down, Attica dashed forward and slashed the Pidgey with both edges, holding out her arms and looking at Kintaro as the Metapod fell into her arms. Mena's eyes spun and she swore a painful revenge on the Pawniard for letting her get taken out like this. Attica offered Kintaro a coy smile as he called back his Metapod, then looked up and returned Buster to his ball while the Sandslash tried to start digging into the floor for real this time. His shoveling claws scratched into the ground but did not cause as much damage as Kintaro expected. This only further convinced him that Sandslash wasn't a Sandslash. "Let's go see the Nurse again. I should not have allowed Mena to battle that Pidgey." He touched the Pokeball containing his Metapod. "That is what happens when you battle with a disadvantage. Not always. You can sometimes achieve victory through careful strategy. But it's likely to fail until you learn what that strategy is." He explained to Hanako, taking Mena's stubbornness and Attica's unwillingness to help as a teaching opportunity. Attica jabbed Kintaro's leg which stopped before she tried a second jab as Kintaro's scowl was not one of a man willing to put up with this behavior. She could have prevented Mena's defeat altogether and he wanted Attica to be as sure of such disappointment in her.
If Hanako didn't object to the direction, Kintaro would lead her to the Pokemon Center. First, of course, they stopped to pay for their clothes only to find that the bill was settled while Hanako was battling. Even Kintaro's clothes were taken care of--much to the frustration of the case worker. He did not like owing anything. Even as he was assured nothing was wrong and asked to go take care of his Metapod. He took one arm of the hoodlum and dragged him out of the door so another wild Pokemon wouldn't cause more trouble. Or the guy harassing everyone in the first place. When he reached the Pokemon Center Kintaro was quick to provide his team for a quick check-up and treatment for his Mena. He was casual with the healer and spoke of basic training styles while waiting for the Pokemon to recover fully. With Hanako in tow, Kintaro was careful not to get wrapped up in conversation. He did, after all, draw her into all this unintentionally. He owed her his attention.

Up until Kintaro replaced her eye patch, Hanako had be fighting to keep some semblance of control of herself. Crying in the middle of the store would only make things worse. Her initial reaction was to tense up almost fearfully the moment Kintaro moved her hair aside, only to relax again as soon as she realized who it was the was touching her. From that point on she seemed to bounce back, if only a little bit. She had just won her first battle, Kintaro had dealt with the rude trainer, and Mena and Attica had taken care of the rogue Pidgey. Things were pretty okay. Only Mena had been defeated...and Kintaro had left the jerk who had started this whole mess unconscious. The latter was admittedly pretty impressive but the injured Pokemon in both of their parties didn't exactly equal 'okay'. She didn't hesitate to follow Kintaro back to the Pokemon Center after struggling through thanking the shop for taking care of their bill for them. She would have thanked Kintaro as well. He had put her eye patch back on for her, taken care of the trainer, and was attempting to teach her more about battling on top of it all. Had she been able to get the words out she would have had to thank him several times over. During the trip to the Pokemon center she was completely silent however, even lagging behind a bit during the last leg of the trip despite having latched on to Kintaro when they had left the Pokemon Center previously.
As soon as Zinnia had been turned over to the nurse, Hanako sat down on a bench as far from everyone in the Pokemon Center as she could get. During the walk to the Pokemon Center the earlier events finally caught up with her and had taken their toll physically. As a result she found herself struggling to breathe. She was use to episodes like these. They passed relatively quickly most of the time. That didn't mean she wanted Kintaro to have to deal with it. She was grateful that she had a decent excuse to try to stay away from people. She didn't want to make Kintaro think she was avoiding him but she did need to switch out her eye patch. Any awkwardness could be explained away as her lack of understanding of how social interactions worked. The bandages that would soon be in place of her eye patch were far more merciful when it came to dealing with any minor thing that caused irritation- stressed based or otherwise. Her eye patches only ever seemed to irritate it further. By the time her bandages were secured around the missing eye she had managed to get control of her breathing once more. Her chest still felt uncomfortable but at least she wasn't struggling as she had been.
Hanako approached Kintaro then and took his hand in her own, looking over it to make sure the trainer's head hadn't left any bruises. "Thank you by the way." She brought his hand to her lips and kissed it. She was still convinced that affection could make most things better. Damaged caused by knocking out a particularly unruly trainer was not an exception. She began to massage his hand, hoping to help ease any pain that might still be lingering. Kintaro already had an arm give him trouble. The last thing he needed was for his hand to start acting up too. "That could not have felt good. I can't imagine how hard his head was." For someone who was so opposed to violence Hanako was taking Kintaro's actions surprisingly well. To her there was a difference between needlessly harming others and acting in response to someone who truly deserved it. She kissed his hand one more time just to be extra sure it would be okay before releasing it, though this was likely only temporary. As soon as their Pokemon were healed and they were back outside of the Pokemon Center, Hanako was sure to attach herself to Kintaro once more. The incident with the trainer had done nothing to help her fear of people. If she tried hard enough she could cuddle Zinnia when he was returned to her and cling to Kintaro at the same time.

Kintaro Satoshi The nurse's visit was simple and easy. Mena was easily cared for and released to Kintaro, Zinnia receiving a similarly quick treatment although Joy did take care to check on his burns before giving him back. The Pokemon were given clean bills of health! Kintaro nodded to his companion while she fussed over his aching hand. "No, it's fine. He was hard, not tough." Kintaro answered dismissively, a bit more proud of his actions with Hanako now giving him attention over it. This was definitely not normal for a man like him. He had to admit that it felt good. He wrested his hand from her rubbing and kisses when sense returned and he became awkward about the constant affection. The young woman disappeared into another room where she bandaged her head and put her patch away. Sensible though it was, Kintaro couldn't help but show disappointment when she returned. "I hope the next thing I encounter is not a Pidgey. Mena needs the battle experience, but there's no point if she can't win any of them. Metapod and Kakuna are difficult to train for that reason." He explained to Hanako, frowning as he considered Mena's situation, then realized he had that to deal with for his Kahuna as well. He squeezed his fist tight as he decided he would do exactly that, no matter what it took to do so.
There was another Pidgey, Kintaro heaved a sigh and threw out Mena's ball anyway. "Of course you're a Pidgey. Mena, use Bug Bite." Grumbled the male, making his Metapod falter in her motions to attack. Pidgey capitalized right away and Tackled her instead. It was still bitten by the Metapod, but it wasn't nearly as effective. It went like this for a while, Kintaro being the main cause of Mena's struggle as he didn't seem at all interested in making the match count. She kept biting the bird and Kintaro kept watching the fight with the analytical mind of someone waiting for the moment of failure. Pidgey fell down and Mena made a strained noise at her trainer, only getting Kintaro's attention when he stopped thinking to see that his Metapod had won. "Mena?" The Metapod made a muffled screeching noise at him. "I didn't think you could beat it. The last one made short work of you." He remarked, which only made his Metapod grow tense before a series of cries--followed by cracking noises--filled the air. The carapace cracked and there was a tittering cry of Butterfree emerging before the butt-chewing could be heard by everyone. Mena had evolved and learned exactly the move she needed to give Kintaro a piece of her mind! "--nbelievable! I trusted you, Master! We all trust you! If you're just going to keep sending me into fights I can't win trying to force me to grow then I don't wanna--" "Mena..." "--No! You don't get to stop me now! I'm tired of trainers acting like--" "Mena." "--on't have anything else we'd rather do than fight! You're a bully, Master, and I won't fight if you don't treat me--" "Like a Butterfree?" Mena had to stop chewing her trainer out to realize that he was understanding her noises...and that she was no longer sitting on the ground. And that her head hurt. She fluttered her new wings over to a fountain nearby while Kintaro dutifully withdrew a Potion for his newly evolved Butterfree. She landed on the edge of the structure as it sank in that she evolved. She hardly flinched feeling the healing fluid spray her lightly bruised body.
"You're right, Mena. I shouldn't have behaved that way." He told her calmly as he rubbed the injured Butterfree and looked into the water with her. "I was frustrated after what happened in the shop, and then you were defeated by a wild Pidgey. It isn't what I expected for you. I don't handle disappointment as well as I should." He explained himself while his Butterfree continued to process her evolution--and the fact she could use Psychic already! How did that happen!? Mena looked down at the stone she had carried since she was a Caterpie--that had been inside of her shell with her body this whole time. Mega Stones were said to have profound effects on Pokemon. Maybe it gave her the power to use Psychic. "I was impatient, and you do deserve better. If you don't want to fight, I won't make you come with me to the Gym. I only wanted to help you evolve and that goal interfered with my judgment. I owe you an apology." He told the bug type as he pat her head. "If you would do me a favor, however, I'd like you to be there with Ms. Lucali. Now that you can use telepathy, I will need someone to teach her while I battle. I can't afford to divide my attention during a Gym Battle. I would most appreciate if you could do that for me." Kintaro made the request formal and encouraging. Mena had the option to refuse, though she knew he would be unhappy if she did. That wasn't the point. He had done wrong by her, it was only fair to give her a choice. "Aww, Master. You do care!" Cried the Butterfree, fluttering her wings and making an uncomfortable kissy face at her trainer. Kintaro was forgiven and Mena was willing to do both of the things he was asking her to do.

Hanako left the Pokemon Center with Zinnia in her arms. Her little Froakie and Mena were both going to be okay. Things seemed to finally be getting back on track. They could continue on with their day. Or at least that was what she thought until another Pidgey showed up. It was the Metapod nest all over again. She was convinced they had done something to upset the local Pidgeys. Hanako was almost upset with Kintaro when he decided to send Mena out against another bird. While he was busy in his own little world Hanako was quietly cheering the Metapod on. Even if she didn't end up winning the fight she wanted to make sure Mena knew she had done well anyways. She was relieved, to say the least, when the Metapod came out on top. Hanako didn't think Mena looked overly thrilled by her trainer's actions, not that she could blame her, but she hadn't expected the Pokemon to not only evolve, but voice exactly how she felt. Not giggling as Mena lectured Kintaro was difficult. She had to cover her mouth to hide her smile.
Hanako waited until Kintaro had reassured Mena before approaching them. She was proud of Kintaro. To her it looked like he was really trying to make things right with his Butterfree. She thought Kintaro was making great progress towards establishing positive relationships with his Pokemon, save for maybe his Sandslash. That one was going to need some work. That was a problem for another day however. Right now she was entirely focused on her companion and his Butterfree. She kissed Kintaro's cheek and smiled at him. "You did great. Mena looks much happier now." Speaking of Mena, Hanako turned her attention to the Butterfree, taking a moment to admire how pretty she was before speaking. "With you around to straighten him out Taro will be a great trainer in no time." Hanako commented playfully before petting the Butterfree. "You look beautiful, Mena." All that time spent in a cocoon had done amazing things for the bug Pokemon. It was quite fascinating. Hanako might have thought to try questioning the Butterfree about what being a Metapod had been like if she hadn't become so painfully aware that they weren't the only ones that had heard Mena the moment she looked up. She cringed and grabbed Kintaro's hand, now keeping her eye set on the ground in an attempt to ignore the other people that had heard Mena's earlier outburst. "Taro." Hanako whispered nervously, gesturing for him to look up. It was as if they were incapable of going anywhere in the city without causing some sort of scene. "Can we continue this somewhere else?"

Kintaro Satoshi Mena and Kintaro had made up and Hanako only added to the good feelings. Mena perked up from the petting and chirped her approval of Hanako. "Thank you, Hanako!" Cried the butterfly Pokemon aloud. Kintaro only made a face at being referred to as a lesser trainer now, though he did not speak up against the jab. She was right. He needed the help. He had no excuse for his behaviors before. Some people had decided to respond to the outburst and gathered around, making Hanako nervous and causing Mena to shrink with embarrassment. "Let's put you back for now, Mena. I'll make sure to let you practice flying in a little while." He told the Butterfree. She protested, but didn't try to resist when Kintaro called her back into her ball. She had made a big scene and didn't want to deal with the crowd. Especially catching thoughts observing her Butterite. Mega Stones weren't exactly common things and the people noticing were not people she wanted to notice. Kintaro made his way to the outskirts of the city and had Hanako's hand clasped firmly in his own. He looked down at the anxious young woman with a patient smile. "Feel better?" He asked her, hoping that getting closer to Santalune Forest would help Hanako's stress and give them an opportunity to avoid things getting any worse. Their proximity to the forest was enough to calm Hanako down. It was quieter, peaceful even compared to the inner parts of the city. She felt so much more comfortable without so many people around. Hanako looked up at Taro with the happiest little smile on her face and nodded in response to his question. "Much better." She said as she rested her head against his shoulder for a moment, not wanting to stop walking long enough to actually hug him. They were finally in an area far enough away from people that she could relax. She wanted to stretch her legs and enjoy it while she could. "Thank you, Taro." Hanako squeezed his hand gently, choosing to keep hold of his hand as she took the lead for a change, though she appeared to be heading in no direction in particular. Her plans only got as far as wandering until they found somewhere that looked like an ideal place to relax. When they were what she considered to be a safe distance from the crowd at the Pokemon Center, she allowed Zinnia to hop down from her arm. The little Froakie wasted little time in hopping ahead of the two trainers so he could explore a bit while they were somewhere quiet. "I live in a city. You would think I would be use to how hectic they can be by now but watching things from your window and being out in it are entirely different." Hanako stopped walking, looking around curiously before blushing. She had no idea where she had taken them. "Um...Maybe you should take the lead. I'm going to...um...get us more lost."

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro accepted the lead from Hanako and only nodded to her musings about the difference between watching the world and becoming a part of it. He wanted to be back in his own little realm himself. Alyssa had completely blocked off that part of his life. "You adapt." He told her solemnly. "It's uncomfortable, and it feels wrong, but you adapt to the new world you live in." He shrugged as they stood together with Hanako admitting that all she had managed to do was get them lost. "We're not lost. Getting lost implies we had someplace to be." He offered the young woman a light nod. He looked around for a moment, realizing that maybe they weren't "lost" by missing a destination...but he wasn't quite sure how to find their way back to the Pokemon Center. "I am definitely lost." "That sounds like one of those things you learn from experience." Despite her comment Hanako had no interest in pursuing that part of the topic further. It sounded like something that Kintaro knew a bit too well and she wasn't willing to put him in a position where he had to talk about himself before he trusted her enough to do so. She smiled softly and redirected the conversation to her own thoughts instead, making sure to give Kintaro every opportunity to avoid talking about personal things unless he wanted to. "Everything is scary and new. There are so many people, Pokemon, and things I don't know. Normally it would be overwhelming. With you around it doesn't feel so bad. I feel safe." Kintaro allowed her to cling to him when she was afraid, which she was certain would have annoyed anyone else by now as the list of things that didn't frighten her was severely lacking, and his patience with her was seemingly endless. She doubted she would find a better companion. "We'll find the way back somehow." Hanako lifted Kintaro's hand to her lips and kissed it before releasing him, stepping away from him so she could better observe Mary. She had been a lot smaller the last time Hanako had seen her. "Aren't you just the cutest thing!" She giggled and knelt down beside the Luxio, reaching out to pet her belly. If Kintaro wasn't going to pet Mary then she would! "She wants you to play with her." She attempted to explain Mary's behavior using as gentle a tone as possible. Scolding Kintaro for not noticing what his Luxio had wanted wouldn't get her anywhere. "She seems to really like you. If you would pet her sometimes I think she would appreciate it. Patience will get you a long way with a lot of Pokemon I think but each Pokemon is different. Some of them require affection too in order to bond with their trainers." Hanako reached up and scratched behind one of Mary's ears. She hoped the Luxio didn't mind her attention. Hopefully next time Kintaro would be willing to pet her instead.

Kintaro Satoshi The situation was not bad, it just was not desirable. That did not stop Kintaro from feeling more frustrated than he should. He was too used to the stability of his workplace. Pokemon brought to him came with profiles full of their strengths, weaknesses, and behavior patterns. People usually dealt with them before! He rarely had to cold read Pokemon! He had something to study, ways to learn each Pokemon. He glowered down at Mary, clearly displeased that his newly evolved and quite recent capture as if she somehow should know what he was expecting from her. Mary looked up at him, but her ears flattened upon finding he was unhappy. She couldn't help purring at Hanako's attention, but her Master was unhappy and that made her feel bad in spite of how good the petting felt. "I do not have time to find my way through all of the intricacies of another Pokemon right now. We have things to do." Grunted the salary man, folding his arms and continuing to stare down his Luxio. Instinct was usually easier to manipulate than behavior. At first, anyway. She had instructions and he knew she knew how to follow them. It was difficult still, Mary had not done a lot of hunting based on bioelectric currents. Most of what she did do was almost pure instinct. Kintaro had just had a bonding moment with his Butterfree. It should have made him a better person. It also had worn down on his capacity for patience. As had his new companion. Mary just had the awful misfortune of being in a loving mood when Kintaro was in a sour one. "I'm a professional, Ms. Lucali. My Team is also expected to live up to a particular standard. There is no excuse for that." He sounded like an absolute hypocrite for a guy who had unintentionally upset his Metapod earlier with a similar character flaw. He was improving, sure, but old habits died hard. "Taro is being very silly right now. Your Pokemon aren't all going to be the same. They have their own personalities and feelings. You're their trainer. You need to be able to understand each of them." Hanako frowned up at Kintaro, upset with him for how unwilling to work with his own Pokemon he was. Scolding Kintaro hadn't seemed like a good idea before but now it felt necessary. Still, there were more important things to worry about. Kintaro could wait until she had checked on Mary. She had only wanted some attention from her trainer. There was no need for Kintaro to treat her so poorly in response! It hurt her to see such a sweet Pokemon so upset. "It's okay, sweetheart." She whispered before gently kissing her and petting her head reassuringly. "You didn't do anything wrong." Kintaro, on the other hand...Hanako stood, staring at Kintaro with a look of disappointment. He had done so well earlier with Mena. Surely he could do the same with Mary if he really wanted to. Instead of continuing to scold him right away, she placed her hand against his stomach, petting him in the exact same way she had Mary. The scolding continued after a few seconds of pets. "You heard Mena earlier. Your Pokemon aren't just tools for battle or whatever other uses you might have for them. They want to trust you. You need to be able to understand them as individuals for them to be able to do that." She scratched behind one of his ears, making it a point to show him the exact same level of affection she had shown Mary. Maybe if he experienced something similar then he would be able to understand the Luxio better. "They're going to be with you for a long time. If you treat them poorly for being themselves then they aren't going to want to be with you, let alone battle for you." Hanako stood on the tips of her toes, kissing Kintaro before petting his head. "It feels nice, doesn't it? Mary likes things like this. It may not seem like much to you but to her it would probably mean a lot if you gave her some extra attention sometimes." She stepped away from him, fully expecting to be yelled at, scolded, or worse. None of that was new to her. She would deal with it if she had to. For now she knelt back down beside Mary, lightly scratching beneath her chin. Kintaro could yell at her all he wanted so long as she could make sure Mary would be alright.

Kintaro Satoshi Hanako was right. Her argument was even reasonable. He owed Mary the same treatment and patience as any other Pokemon. That did not stop Kintaro from preparing an equally measured and reasonable response as to how exactly he thought Hanako was an idiot. Not because she was wrong, but because he could not admit that he was. His expression grew more stern as the young woman made a point to share her opinion with him through physical demonstration. It should have been the exact thing he needed to see his own mistakes but it only served to agitate him further. His body responded to the pleasurable contact even as his mind sharpened on the rough edges of her small mistakes. While she was trying to pet him into submission, Kintaro promptly returned Mary to her ball without another word. He froze from the kiss, not sure exactly how he was going to handle that. He didn't return the affection, nor did he look at all pleased after she was finally finished. "Mind your position, Ms. Lucali. We are traveling companions. Nothing more." He began in a terse tone of voice that made him seem even angrier than he really was. Mary being callously returned to her ball already was a sign that he was not going to be kind. "If you must insist on interfering with my training technique you should be at the very least prepared to offer a solution--a real solution--to the problem." Now that he had insulted her explanation he had to keep up with making his frustration appear warranted. "Shinx are adept predators who are naturally in tune with the electrical currents around them. This is as simple as looking with her eyes or listening with her ears." He continued, bombarding poor Hanako with information that wasn't completely true. While Shinx had natural talents with detecting electric currents, they were perfectly capable hunters without it. Few ever needed to use such an ability and often only learned how when taught or when faced with challenges that required their hunting technique to change. He was counting on her not to know that, as most did not know things like this as Kintaro did.
He wanted to keep arguing, to beat down on Hanako with the full force of his intellect until she never again dared to question his motivations or attitude. He wanted all of this but he stopped anyway. She was not his enemy. She had no reason to be verbally abused over a disagreement of what Mary should and should not be able to do. He snorted out a sharp breath from his nose as he stepped back and turned away. "I have a Gym Leader to defeat, Ms. Lucali. The entire goal of this exercise was to get there within a reasonable time." He informed her. A diversion from the argument and one last pathetic claim that his impatience was the right kind of behavior to express. If Hanako was hurt by his words she didn't show it, not at first anyway. She kept her expression neutral, taking each insult to her intelligence with a sort of grace she lacked the majority of the time. Only after he had turned away did she react at all, allowing for no more than a small frown and a defeated sigh. She wasn't angry at him but she was a bit hurt by how dumb he seemed to think she was. More than anything she felt bad for Mary and worse for him. If Kintaro kept behaving the way he was then it would only be a matter of time before he started losing the trust of his Pokemon. 'It will be okay. I'll help- oh!' A familiar weight on her shoulder pulled her from her thoughts. Zinnia had returned from his adventure. "Where did you wander off to, sweetheart?" She whispered softly, reaching up to pet the Froakie before finally moving to follow Kintaro. Having Zinnia with her again was enough to improve her mood significantly. She paused, a silly idea popping into her adorable little head. If Zinnia could cheer her up then maybe he could help Kintaro too! She searched through her things until she located the same drawing she used when she had asked for her beloved Froakie and a pen to write what she needed to on it. Chances were her idea wouldn't work at all but there was only so much she could do to make things worse at the moment. Trying to cheer him up couldn't hurt. Using the wall of the building nearest to her as a stable surface to write on, she added her note for Kintaro to the drawing and folded it up before handing it off to Zinnia. "Bring this to Taro, okay?" The Froakie tilted his head curiously but didn't consider protesting before he hopped off of her shoulder, moving quickly in order to catch up to Kintaro. Hanako had not realized just how far she had lagged behind him. "The space might help a bit too." She told herself as she took a moment to straighten out her things. There was no need for her to rush to catch up.
While she was getting herself together, Zinnia was already making the leap from ground to Kintaro's shoulder, the difference in height between him and Hanako throwing the Froakie off just enough that he nearly fell. He let out a small frustrated noise and patted Kintaro's shoulder lightly, scolding him for being so much taller than his trainer was. The height difference was something that Zinnia was going to have to get use to if Hanako kept sending him off on such odd quests! He blinked and patted Kintaro again, this time trying to get his attention. That was right! Hanako had sent him on a quest! His trainer had asked this of him so it had to be something important! He struggled to unfold the paper without falling, holding it up for Kintaro to see when he had accomplished his task. 'Froakies are adorable. Holding mine always makes me smile. Maybe he could do the same for you.' Zinnia offered the drawing to Kintaro after he had succeeded in holding it up, unable to hide just how proud of himself for completing the quest he had been sent on. He had done very well! Maybe he would get extra cuddles later for being such a good Froakie! He looked back to see if Hanako was nearby, hoping to reassure his trainer that he had done his job, only to find that she was crouched down and holding her hand out to something he couldn't quite see from his perch.
While Zinnia was busy with his quest, Hanako had managed to drop her bag in the process of trying to get herself organized, spilling some of its contents on the ground. Catching up to Kintaro wasn't going to be nearly as easy as she thought if she kept this up. Right as she finished picking up her belongings and turned to follow Kintaro a crashing noise near her brought her to a halt once more. She looked around for the source, her attention falling on a strange Pokemon she didn't recognize. It had just knocked over a garbage can, leaving a decent sized dent in the metal can in the process. Whatever it was seemed upset. Its head snapped in the direction of every little sound it heard, growling viciously in response. Any normal person might have recognized the Deino's hostility and avoided it as much as possible. Hanako, however, had no idea just how much danger she was in. She didn't see a violent Pokemon. All she saw was a confused baby covered in far too many cuts and bruises. It needed to be taken to the Pokemon Center. "Aren't you just the cutest little thing~! Hello sweetie~ Are you okay? Do you need help?" She set her bag to the side before crouching down, extending her hand to the Deino in the hope that it might view her as friendly and accept her offer of help. That was a mistake. She had just enough time to move her arm in front of her chest to keep the Deino from slamming into it directly before it hit her, the force of the attack knocking the poor girl flat. Hanako was physically unable to scream in response to the pain due to the limitations of her body. Zinnia made up for that. The horrified sound the Froakie made would have been more than enough for him to attract the Deino to him had its mouth not already been clamped down on Hanako's arm. "I'm fine, Zin! Stay with Taro!" Raising her voice was more uncomfortable than usual. She would have to assess the damage that had been done after she got the Pokemon off of her. Her Froakie was at her side in record time despite her request for him to stay with Kintaro, which was exactly what she didn't want. The fact that he was now within biting distance scared the hell out of her. She gripped the Deino with her free arm, trying to keep it in place just in case it took an interest in her Froakie. Things would not end well for Zinnia if he was bitten. She had to keep the Deino's attention on her. "Zinnia, go into my bag, grab the first empty Pokeball you can find, and roll it to me. Stay as far back as you can." Hanako couldn't see the Froakie digging through her things since she was too busy trying to hold the Deino, which only seemed to want to bite down harder on her. She could hear him though. The moment she felt a Pokeball bump into her arm she snatched it up and used it on the Deino. As soon as she was free she wasted little time in getting herself upright and grabbing Zinnia, using her body to shield him just in case the angry Pokemon broke free. The Pokeball shook violently as the Pokemon inside did everything within its power to escape it. Hanako closed her eye, expecting the worst, only to hear the small pinging sound that signaled that the Pokemon had been captured.
Hanako stared at the Pokeball in total silence for the longest time, keeping Zinnia held close to herself more to comfort the distressed Froakie than to protect him at that point. She didn't have to look at her arm to know it was a mess and she was certain there was at least a bruise where the Deino had slammed into her. This was fine though. She was as okay as she could be given the situation. Injuries aside she really didn't have anything to complain about. Catching the injured baby would make getting it to the Pokemon Center later so much easier. She would count this as a win. "Do you think it liked me?" She asked the Froakie, giggling a bit at the concerned cry she received in response.

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro had been meaning to wait, but he was just so frustrated with Hanako and her behavior that he couldn't help but spitefully walk away from someone who had done nothing truly wrong. Zinnia's sudden approach was a surprise to say the least. He snatched the note from the Froakie's ill-equipped amphibian appendages and flicked it open one-handed while he was raising his arm for Zinnia to perch more comfortably. Kintaro was not only notably taller than Hana, his shoulder had less space to perch upon. Such a thing as Zin could not fit comfortably on such a lean roost. He looked at the note and shook his head. No, he did not want to hold her Froakie. "I don't think this was necessary." He remarked, folding the note and returning it to the Froakie with more patience now that he was dealing with a third party. Zinnia hadn't done anything he could justify as wrong. He was following instructions and he was not trying to force him to do anything.
The moment of peace was short-lived when Hanako was struck by something small and hit the ground. Kintaro hardly thought about what he was doing, grabbing Zinnia off of his shoulder and cradling Hanako's Froakie in his hands. "I hope I still know how to do this." He muttered to himself, giving Zinnia a boost after instructing the Froakie to try and tighten up like a ball and jump when Kintaro's hand snapped forward. The result was a Froakie Fastball that sent him sailing toward Deino and Hanako. Hanako stopped her Starter from interfering while Kintaro walked forward and produced a Pokeball himself. It didn't escalate further. Hanako even had the quick-witted idea to capture Deino so she didn't have to fight it. He stood nearby, kneeling once he was free to rush to her side. "Watch your arm. Careful. You're hurt." He stated calmly, taking a slow breath. "You should not have been near that Deino. They are incredibly violent by nature." He shrugged, knowing she would have questions about good and evil. "You were being reckless again. For an unacceptable reason. We should go back so you do not get sick from this." He added as he helped Hanako get up and nodded to Zinnia to lead their way back. "It was hurt." She knew it wasn't much of an explanation for her reckless behavior but it was the best one she had. Leaving an injured Pokemon to wander around by itself when she was capable of helping it would not have sat well with her. Hanako looked down at her arm for the first time, wincing a bit at the sight of the painful wounds the Deino had left. Capturing it had been a good call. If she had tried to pull it off she was certain it would have taken part of her arm with it. The trip back to the Pokemon Center was expected since her Deino needed to be taken care of. She assumed she was going to be a bit slow because of her injuries and was just about to suggest Kintaro go ahead of her since she was going to take a while when she found that she was no longer on the ground anymore. She panicked at first, clinging to Kintaro until she was certain that he wasn't going to drop her. His ability to carry something the size of a small Wailmer like herself was thoroughly impressive and she made no attempt to hide just how in awe of him she was. She blushed when she realized she was staring at him and turned her attention to Zinnia instead. She continued to watch her Froakie up until they had arrived at the Pokemon Center and she had been taken back to be treated along with her Deino.
When Hanako returned to them her arm had been disinfected, stitched up, and bandaged. She was certain the bite was going to leave an unpleasant looking scar. Considering she was already very difficult to look at perhaps it would be an improvement. She put a pin in that thought for now, deciding it best to come back to it later when she didn't have a Froakie to comfort and a companion to thank. She hugged Kintaro as soon as she saw him, unsure where to even begin when thanking him. He had carried her all the way back to the Pokemon Center despite how heavy she was! That could not have been an easy task. "Th-thank you, Taro. Carrying me here was very sweet of you." Had she been given the opportunity she would have started to babble at that point. Fortunately for both trainers she was cut off by her Froakie leaping into her arms and attempting to cling to her. "Oh! I'm sorry, my love. Did I scare you? I'm okay now, see?" She kept her Froakie cradled in her arm while she held up her injured limb for him to examine. Between the bandages and the stitches she was no longer bleeding, which comforted him a bit. There was still the issue of the latest addition to the team to deal with but that could wait until later. Right now he was just glad his trainer was going to be okay. Now that Zinnia had settled in Hanako could turn her attention back to Kintaro. She frowned, staring down at the ground as she spoke. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't know what he was and I made things difficult for you because of it."

Kintaro Satoshi It had been a mercifully short expedition to find the Pokemon Center. It was closer than the pair realized and there were signs that Zinnia had found for them to follow. Kintaro silently admonished himself for forgetting such an obvious way to solve the problem. He always had to try and be smarter than the norm. Now wasn't the time to be smart, now was the time for action and protecting his traveling partner. "She's been bitten by a Deino. It's not bad compared to some, please be careful." He informed Joy, as if the Pokemon Nurse somehow needed told how to do her job. At least he was able to put on his "work face" and keep himself calm and neutral. He sat down at the PC unit in the lobby and quietly popped his wrist before snapping it back into place. The crack of replacing his joint was loud but Hanako was still being cared for. He frowned as he stared at two Pokeballs for a long time. "I can't use you right now. But you still have your uses. I'll have to see to your training later." He muttered to himself before placing one ball on the transfer station. Odyss' ball was quickly transferred back to him and he placed it on his belt. A sprite of Buster appeared on the screen and Kintaro nodded to himself. "You should rest while you can. It's going to be a busy day when I need you." He remarked thoughtfully, releasing Odyss from his ball with a patient smile. Odyss was a goofball, but he tried so hard to make his master happy. He told himself it was to refresh his tolerance after Mary's "blatant disobedience" but really he was using Odyss to remind himself that Mary had done nothing wrong. Just as Odyss had screwed up plenty since they got together and was just fine. "Hey, Odyss. Did you enjoy your break?" A bit of the long lost kid in Kintaro surfaced ever so briefly. Had he been left alone he might have even wound up making up with his Luxio. Instead, Odyss was shocked to see a beautiful young woman walk up to his trainer. The Quilladin could only stare as she gave attention directly to the man he sometimes thought had no feelings.
Kintaro only reached up to awkwardly pat Hana's head when she hugged him. His wrist was swollen but he was moving it so well she wouldn't immediately notice he had hurt himself. He also had a selfish plan for Odyss coming back. "Ms. Lucali, I wanted you to meet someone as well." He stated once Hana was disentangled from him and holding her little Froakie instead. Odyss instinctively answered the subtle call but couldn't stop staring at the pretty lady and her pretty eye patch. Was that a Froakie!? Wait a second... "Froakie? Froakie, is that you?" Odyss forgot his manners immediately and moved much closer to Hana than he would have in a normal situation. "DUDE! Froakie! It IS you!!" Kintaro flinched as Odyss got excited and seemed determined to reach Zinnia. His fingers curled slowly and squeezed some of that irritation out. Odyss was well-behaved. Something was different. He had to--of course. Hanako had to visit the Professor too. "Odyss?" Kintaro's voice was tense, like he was about to get angry, but he was pushing down his temper for his Quilladin. Odyss had earned a better treatment than that. "Is something the matter?" He asked in the most patient tone he could manage. Odyss grew instantly stiff and hunkered down, smiling bashfully at his trainer. The signal was awkward due to his new form not really being familiar yet but Kintaro recognized the attempt at a sign for "friend" and nodded. He relaxed noticeably with that, kneeling down to pat his Quilladin but also draw him back from Hanako's feet. "I can't really blame that. You never expected to see him again, I think. We do need to be polite, don't we? Why don't you introduce yourself?" Kintaro was far more patient now than he had been before with Mary. He already had an established thing with Odyss, and he couldn't let himself be harsh on his star Pokemon after the incident with Gandor. Odyss was a thousand times more bashful now that he had been snapped out of his immediate excitement. He quickly practiced some of the signs Kintaro and Attica had taught him before attempting to communicate to Hanako. If she knew the signals she would be able to tell that he was signing a greeting to her and barking "Quilla!" when he tried to say his name. He didn't know how to spell it yet. After the proper greeting, Odyss bowed his head like a gentledin and then repeated the sign for "friend" to her before eagerly signing "play." He was not-so-subtly asking for her to let Zinnia down, but if Kintaro didn't like that suggestion he could pretend he was only saying that he and Zinnia used to play together at Sycamore's laboratory. "Ms. Lucali, this is Odyss. My Chesp--" "Quill!" "--I'm sorry. Quilladin. He is like Zinnia. He's my Starter." Kintaro explained, narrating some of Odyss' greeting in case Hanako did not know the sign language he was teaching. "Odyss, this is Ms. Hanako Lucali. We met in the forest after...we 'met' Gandor." Kintaro explained back to his Quilladin.
