 Professor Rowan is the resident Pokémon Professor of Sandgem Town in the Sinnoh region. Rowan is one of the oldest serving regional professor, even older then Professor Oak even though they were childhood friends. Rowan specializes in studying Pokemon evolution, and has been studying it since he was a teenager. He often travels all the way to Kanto to study Pokemon along side Professor Oak. He has a stern personality that makes him seem intimidating and mean, but he is actually very kind and patient. Rowan says he still feels a thrill whenever he travels anywhere with his Pokémon. He apparently has a sweet tooth, as the refrigerator in his laboratory is full of nothing but sweets and candy, and if given a Rage Candy Bar, he'll be willing to trade a Pokemon starter of their choice for it. Rowan's particular field of study is Pokémon evolution, having discovered that 90% of all Pokémon are connected in some way to others through evolution. He is also interested in determining if evolution is supposed to be a form of Pokémon reaching maturity, or a way for an "incomplete" being to become "more complete," and the implications that the process has on legendary Pokémon, which don't evolve.

"Mom, I'll come visit. Don't worry so much about me. It's not like I'm going to be alone-I'm going to have my friends." Mirela brushed chocolate locks from her face, baring her deep blue eyes entirely. A weathered hand rested on her pale, soft cheek, a hand that had tended the young woman from the womb.
"Dear, it isn't you I worry for. It's those you will face in your travels. Your choice of Pokemon, quite a journey lies ahead. Don't look back too often, Mirela. Keep those eyes on your goal. Discover that bond you have begun to forge."
That is how the parting went. Mirela left with a small number of things. A few rations, spare clothes matching her usual attire-Short blue skirt, white blouse, stockings, and shoes with soles that gripped ice well. A few hygiene effects, penlight, just what was needed to get her through her journey. She was on her way down, however, to Sandgem Town. Professor Rowan waited there, but it wouldn't take too long for her to make her choice on the Pokemon she would take with her. It wasn't an Ice-type, like she would have preferred, but Piplup was cute, and what it evolved into later on-It filled her with enthusiasm, something she hadn't felt in some time.
It took a while, travelling down the routes, passing through other places and resisting the temptation to get things that would just load her bag with useless junk. But in time, she came upon Sandgem. The sea to its coast, salty breezes meeting warm air-At least it wasn't a giant oven outside. Mirela hated hot weather. She stood at the doors to the lab, her knuckles tentatively rapping against the door.
"Hello? Professor? I'm here to get my partner."

Professor Rowan had quite the proactive day, getting the majority of the research and tests done and out of the way early. Rowan was a very hard worker, and he found the day went by much smoother by getting all of his hard work out of the way early. He thought this would be a good time to stop for a moment to enjoy one of the many joys in his life, a candy bar. It didn't take him long, and he actually finished the chocolatey bar just in time to hear a few taps on the doors of the lab. He tossed the wrapper into the trash can as we walked towards the door, and opened the door and was met with a young woman. "Well, you came to the right place." He told her calmly having heard her reason for the visit through the door. He then stepped aside, allowing the young woman into the lab, and gestured towards a table with three Pokeballs sitting on it. After her entrance, he made his way towards the table with her. "Now, have you given any thought to which starter you would like?" He asked her, standing next to the table. He knew it was a very important decision all trainers must make, so he was ready to be patient with her while she looked them over, if she so chose to. |

Ian Myst stepped through the door, leaving the strong sunshine. Tugging on his black hoodie, Ian let his eyes wander. He wasn't here to inspect Prof Rowan's lab but couldn't help himself. The RageCandyBar wrappers stood out. There, he spotted Prof Rowan among the Pokeballs of starter Pokémon.
Was his heart pounding? His panting breath too ragged? Well, there is no sense in going back now. He didn't need time to give it thought; Ian had planned years for this.
"Hello, sir. Do you have... a Piplup available?"

Just recently it had been rather quiet in the Sinnoh Laboratory, the large influx of new trainers coming to receive their starters having depleted for some time. It wasn't an inconvenience by any means, giving the laboratory as a whole the time to start focusing on other things, but while that in itself was rewarding, there was nothing better to the good Professor of Sinnoh than sending out a new trainer with the growing unruly starter pokemon he had to care for in their time there.
It was with a grin beneath his gray mustache that he came into the main room of the lab at the sound of a voice.
"Yes? Hello young man," Rowan greeted in delight, moving forward with a hefty handshake.
"Now tell me, have you come for a starter pokemon today," Rowan asked gruffly. It didn't take long for the new comer to give his answer, and with that Rowan smiled and disappeared for just a moment in to another room, having just the right Piplup for this new trainer, and was glad to have it go out on it's journey. He moved about the room, gathering a few items before heading back to Ian, holding out the items for him to take.
"Right then, that's a fine choice. Here is your pokedex, and some potions and pokeballs to start you off, and this is the pokeball containing your Piplup," Rowan spoke as he beamed with a smile beneath his mustache.Ian has received:Piplup Lv. 5 HP- 40 Ability: Pound- 40 Growl- Lowers target's attack by one stage Pokeball- xx Potion- xx Pokedex

Jo approached the pokemon lab, trying to look more confident then they felt. After all, its wasn't like they had never been here before. School trips always seemed to involve a trip to Rowan's Lab. Jo had always assumed the teachers and Rowan's aids were friends and wanted the day to talk while the kids learned about pokemon. Jo still wasn't used to traveling on their own though. The idea was exhilarating, but terrifying. Times like these, Jo wished they had the enthusiasm of their 10-year-old-self for this adventure. Certainly Jo was still going to chase their dreams, but they felt more like they were facing an obstacle course now.
Jo reached the doors of the lab and sighed, trying to steady their nerves before stepping forward to trigger the automatic door to the public area. Looking around for the Professor, who they didn't see, Jo noticed a few others milling around, although no-one they recognized.
"Hello, Professor Rowan?"

Professor RowanThe professor had spent his day in his office as usual. It was one of his slower days, so he had already finished his tasks for the day, and had gone over a bit of paperwork from one of his lab assistance. He was fairly pleased with his day so far, and decided to reward himself with a piece of candy as he finished off the hypothesis. It was a rather interesting idea he wanted to test fairly soon especially since it involved evolution. Rowen got up from his desk with the paperwork, and began out into the main of his labs, and began towards the labs to talk it over with the lab assistant, however he stopped when he over heard a voice. He looked over and spotted a teenager. He walked over to the teen, and nodded to them. "Yes, that would be me." he told them. "How may I assist you today?" he asked. (I'm so sorry for replying so late. I've been terribly sick for the past couple of days, and I'm the mod that usually answers in the labs. I'm terribly sorry!) |

Jo straightened from where they had been looking around the lab and smiled shyly at the professor. They had always felt a little bit intimidated by the man, he was so brilliant after all! But hopefully they could just...get that pokemon and get back home without too much stress? "Hello! Um, yes, I'm Jo Nash. I was hoping to adopt a turtwig as my starter pokemon today," They said, their hands clasped together behind their back. Jo was so excited to finally meet their first pokemon partner, but talking to the professor like this felt like a battle in its own right!
(No biggie, I take a white to reply too sometimes ^.^)

Professor RowanThe old man listened to the young teen introduce themselves as well as explain why they were there. It was always a good thing to see someone acquire their starter, and start on their journey, regardless of age. It was always a good feeling, and he enjoyed seeing people going off for the first time as a trainer, regardless of his stern expression. "Of course, Jo, right this way." he began, turning and walking towards another table on the other side of the lab. He handed the packet of papers to an assistant as she passed by, taking it without a question and went about her business. Rowen got to the table and picked up one of the three Pokeballs and held it out to the trainer-to-be. "Here you are." he offered, and then reached into the desk drawers and pulled out a few items, and held those out as well. Alice's mother woke her up, with a smile on her face. "Today's the big day, sweetheart! You get your first Pokémon!"
She immediately jumped up and got dressed in her usual outfit, black jeans and a plain red shirt with shoes that are equipped for all terrains. Grabbing her backpack, she ran out to Rowan's lab, more excited than she's been in years. Everyone else was always intimidated by the Professor but she thought he was the coolest professor in the world. Once she got there she couldn't help but look around at everything, even though she's seen it all before. Eventually she spotted the professor.
"Professor Rowan? I came hoping to adopt my own chimchar. Can you help me out please?"

Arriving at the town called Sandgem town where he's told to find a man named Professor Rowan the professor of the SInnoh Reigon, There he wanted to get his starter pokemon ans friend for his Charizard. He looked at the map then looked at the letter which was given from the professor saying he has heard great things from his Kanto Professor, Professor Oak about his progress at the Kanto region. Lok would wonder the village studying his surroundings seeing how calm and peaceful the town is, He'd gaze upon the sky noticing a group of Starley flew by in the sky. Lok nods while feeling the cool breeze blow upon him making feel relaxed and almost at home, he spoke in a calm tone.
Lok "This is a wonderful town to live in, calming town, cute Pokemon and the atmosphere is just wonderful. Plus if i'm correct that's the professors lab is right over there" Said Lok looking over to where the Laboratory is located.
He walks towards the lab and knocked upon the door and waited for a response so he wouldn't rudely come into someones lab.
Lok "Hello? I'm Lok ryuta one of Professor Oak's friends, i came here due to your invitation letter" He said while waiting at the door.

Professor RowanRowan had quite the productive day, testing evolution on Pokemon who had come in with their trainers. It was surprisingly rare when they were able to test, both trainers and Pokemon had to agree to the testing on seeing them evolve and taking statistics. Today they were lucky to study the evolution of a rather friendly Gliscor. Rowen had been through all the paper work, and reading all the reports already, so now he was working on the clean up. His assistants was taking care of the actual facility itself, while he was cataloging the razor fangs back in with the other evolution items. They weren't the most rare items, but they did hold some value so Rowan always made sure what wasn't used went back under lock and key. Though, there was a knock on the lab doors. Luckily Rowan was out in the main of the lab or he wouldn't have heard it. Rowan had been so use to children just barging in and asking for a starter, so he wasn't quite sure who it was. Rowan opened the door, almost expecting a child but was met with a young man. The Professor looked to the young man with his usual stern look, and regarded the young man with a 'hmph' having not expected anyone for that day. However, after the introduction Rowan's thick eyebrows lifted just for a moment. "Ah, yes, Lok." The professor noted calmly and held the door open for the young man. He had sent the invitation due to Oak explaining the young male's travels, and the possibility of him starting in Sinnoh. "You arrived sooner then I expected." He spoke, as he lead Lok into the lab. "Oak has told me that you were interested in entering the Sinnoh League. Have you given much thought about that?" Rowan asked him. |

Lok would nod at the professor and spoke to him about why he has came to the Sinnoh Region and his purpose as well. Lok spoke with a calm and polite tone seeing how nice Rowan was able to give up some of his time to speak to him.
Lok "Yes professor Rowan, i have came in interest on taking on the pokemon league. Not only for the battles but i'd like to explore this new region of its wonders, pokemon, mysteries and more. You see i Set off from The kanto region due to me wanting to see other amazing regions i've never seen and test my skills as well. So i came here and was told that your giving away starter pokemon to new trainers as well, i was wondering if i may have one to start my journey with if thats ok Professor Rowan" He said with s spirited tone while bowing in respect.

Professor RowanRowan listened to Lok as he explained his plans for his future, nodding along with the comments he made. It seemed that the young man had a very clear path set for himself, it was always refreshing to see such integrity and such initiative, he could tell that this particular trainer had a path set.
"Yes, well, it seems you have everything in order, you're only needing one final piece," Rowan spoke gruffly, though his tone was genuine and his eyes were bright.
"What starter Pokemon can I offer you today to get you started in the Sinnoh Region," the good professor asked, ready to help the young man set out on his travels. |

Lok looked at three pokemon and thinks to himself on which starter pokemon he would like to set off on his journey with, He looked the Turtwig a grass type pokemon and very durable towards attacks which would be amazing also he looked cute. Than theres Chimchar a fire type pokemon that can evolve into a fire fighting type pokemon which makes him a great attack plus very humorus, Then theres Piplup a water type pokemon and very prideful to say the least a fast water type pokemon and has a lot of endurance. He thinks hard on his choice then nods knowing he already has his charizard which is a fire and flying type and he always wanted a grass type pokemon so he would kneel down to the little turtwig and smiles warmly.
Lok "Hello there Turtwig, would you like to join me on my quest?" He asked looking at the little turtwig.
The little pokemon looked at my with it's cute eyes, it waddles towards me and gave a happy twig noise in repose to my question. I picked him up from the ground and smiles at the professor.
Lok "i choose Turtwig" He said with a happy tone

Professor RowanRowan had lead the young man to the starters and watched as he began to analyze and decide which would be the best choice for him. It never was an easy choice, selecting a partner to go on a journey with, even if he wasn't new and just starting. He seemed to be mulling over his choices so Rowan took that time to gather a few items that the new trainer might need on his travels. But the time he got back to the male, he seemed to have selected a Turtwig, and asked to see if it would like to join him. It looked like the Pokemon agreed. "It seems the Turtwig choose you too." Rowan spoke with a nod to the male. He held out the tray that the had loaded with the items for Lok. "Here are a few items that may help you. A few potions and Pokeballs to get you started." he explained holding the tray out, allowing Lok to take what he wanted. "Take what you need. I'm sure you'll do just fine out there exploring and in the league. You have the intuition necessary to make it far, I'm sure of it. " Rowan spoke, it sounded like it could be a compliment though he still sounded and appeared just as stern as usual.Lok has received: Turtwig Lv. 5 HP- 40 Ability: Tackle- 20 Withdraw- Raises user's defense Pokedex Infinite Pokeballs Infinite Potions |

He smiles and bows towards the professor for his generous offering, place Turtwig onto the ground and grabbed the items he will need on his new adventure. he would look at the professor giving him a fare well smile and looked at his new friend making friends with his new friend.
Lok: well i best be off so you may continue your work, But thank you for your help and generosity" he said with a respectful tone and started to walk away from the professor with his new tiems.
His new items where a few potions, 6 poke balls, and a poke dex as well as turtwig's pokeball but desided to leave him out so they could bond a friendship with each other. he opens the door saying another fare well and left the building now wondering where to go next. He took out his map and checked the area to see where the first pokemon gym is. Lok would nod after getting his baring's and started to head off.

One day, in Nimbasa City, Matthew was out getting some food for the house. He was walking out of the marketplace, carrying bags of food in his hands when he suddenly overheard a conversation from a bunch of people about how the next day, trainers will be able to receive their starting Pokemon. This brought a smile to his face as he heard. "Finally..." he thought to himself. "A chance for me to get my very first Pokemon. I've had to wait long and long for this day to come, but now that it is coming, I had better prepare to get going." Matthew immediately rushed home to his house, putting the food down on the kitchen counter. He then makes his way to the living room and turns on the TV, hoping to get more information about this whole thing. He turns on the TV, going to the Pokemon Lab news channel and watching to see what to expect for wait times and availability. As he was watching, he thought to himself, "If I had to gamble, I'd say that the best chances for me to get a starter this year would have to be either Kalos or Unova." He then looks to see a prediction sheet come from the Kanto region laboratory: Kanto Region Predictions

Seeing this sheet, Matthew was pretty impressed. So many Pokemon being given out to trainers at this rate made him start to wish that he were currently in the Kanto region right now so that he could stay the night in Pallet Town for when tomorrow came. Suddenly, another prediction sheet popped up on the TV screen, this time being from the Johto region laboratory: Johto Region Predictions
Expected wait time for a Pokemon: 10-45 minutes
How many starter Pokemon are available for pickup: 650 starter Pokemon
"Wow... How busy could the Johto region lab be to have people wait that long? And all for what, really? Less starter Pokemon than these trainers can get if they go to Kanto?" Matthew then thought to himself as he kept watching to see what all of the other prediction sheets are like before making a final decision on where to go. He continued watching as he then started to have a thought in his head about which starting Pokemon he should choose, and what region he should go to in order to get his starter. Pretty soon, the other sheets came in in the span of seven minutes. Matthew watched as the sheets go by, taking note of each one of them and studying them carefully to see what his options were like. Seeing all of these predictions go by made Matthew think really hard. However, there was region that, looking at the sheets, he has made a decision on. "Yeah. I'm definitely not gonna get a starter Pokemon from my home region. I'm just not gonna risk waiting that long to get a starter." he thought to himself as he then started thinking hard and long about the other regions. Eventually, he narrowed the choice down to a decision between the Sinnoh Region and and the Kalos Region. "Hmmm... If I go to Kalos, I've got a greater chance of getting a starter. However, because of the wait time in Sinnoh, fewer trainers might want to stop by at the lab to pick their starter up." he said to himself as he started pacing the floor boards of the living room. Eventually, and after much thought, Matthew soon came to a decision. " Well, if I can't get a starter in Unova, I might as well get one in Sinnoh." he said as he then turned off the TV and started to pack his bag for the journey to Sinnoh. At around 5:30 P.M., he headed out toward Castelia City in order to catch a ferry to Sinnoh. As he left his hometown, he took one last look at the place just in case he didn't come back. He then headed out, passing through quite a sandy area before arriving in Castelia City. He walked out from the streets of the bustling city out onto the port, where he saw a ferry that was getting ready to leave for Sinnoh. Immediately, he rushed to get on board before the ship took off. He bought a ticket to Sinnoh and made it to the boat five minutes before it took off. As the boat was moving away from Unova, Matthew turned back and gave one last glimpse at the region, reflecting on all of the memories when he was a kid. Pretty soon, night time arrived, and Matthew decided to tuck in for the night. After all, it was going to be quite a while before the ship would land in the Sinnoh region, so why not save up the energy for when he would have to make his way to the lab tomorrow? Letting out a quick yawn, he tucked himself in the bed in his cabin, closed his eyes, and drifted to sleep. He started to snore lightly as he was ready to take on tomorrow. The next day, the sun started to rise, and the light started to shine in through the window of the ship. Feeling the sunlight hit his face, Matthew let out a groan as he started waking up. "Mmmm... Morning already?" he said to himself as he got up and stretched his arms out to his sides, yawning. He then went to the window and opened it, hoping to get a breath of fresh air. As he took a deep breath, he looked outside to see some land in the near distance. "Whoa! I made it to Sinnoh already?" he exclaimed, then closing his window and jumping in joy and excitement. He then started rushing to the deck of the ship to get a closer look at the land that he would be starting his journey at. As he saw the Sinnoh region getting closer and closer, his eyes started dazzling. "Wow... The Sinnoh Region." he said to himself as he then added, "This will be the day when I officially become a Pokemon trainer." The boat soon stopped at the docks of Canalave City, and everyone that had boarded had started to make their way off the ship. Matthew follows the crowd and takes his first steps in a whole new region. He was excited at the idea; a new region for him to explore, and a wide-open opportunity for him to start his very own Pokemon journey. He didn't have time to look around, though, as he still knew that the Sinnoh region laboratory would probably be giving out starter Pokemon left and right to young, aspiring trainers much like him. He immediately started to rush on ahead to the lab, arriving two hours later. Beads of sweat were dripping from his forehead, and panting noises could be heard from Matthew as he arrived. He drank a bottle of water that he had packed in order to cool off a bit before entering the lab. Inside the laboratory, there were stacks of books on the ground, and dirt marks and dust marks covered most of the floor. "Whoa... Looks like a whole wave a trainers stopped on by to receive their Pokemon." he thought to himself as he walked around for a bit. "Hello? Anybody here?" he then started calling out. "Hello? I'm here about picking up a starter." he added as he continued calling, trying to see if he would get a response from a scientist, Professor Rowan himself, or somebody else. Who answers his call didn't matter to him at the moment. What mattered is that he wanted to hear from somebody who would help him out. |

Just recently it had been just a tad busier in the Sinnoh Laboratory, the large influx of new trainers coming to receive their starters having depleted for some time. It wasn't an inconvenience by any means, giving the laboratory as a whole the time to start focusing on other things, but while that in itself was rewarding, there was nothing better to the good Professor of Sinnoh than sending out a new trainer with the growing unruly starter pokemon he had to care for in their time there, and he had many an opportunity to do just that. His assistants were helping other new trainers and going about their normal tasks, and Rowan himself was free, but only for a moment.
It was with a grin beneath his gray mustache that he came into the main room of the lab at the sound of a voice asking for help.
"Yes? Hello young man," Rowan greeted in delight, moving forward with a hefty handshake.
"Now tell me, have you come for a starter pokemon today," Rowan asked gruffly.

Matthew saw Professor Rowan come in and shook his hand. He then said, "Yes, Professor. I'm here to receive a starter."

Having come in to greet one of the new comers, Rowan was greeted with a hand shake in return, always a good sign of a confident trainer, and Rowan liked confidence. However, as Rowan had posed his question, he had only been given a short, curt answer in response, and Rowan chuckled lightly as he took his hand and returned it to his side. "A man of little words it seems," he chuckled, usually new trainers were so eager to get their first Pokémon that they couldn't help but blurt it out, but it seemed this young man was more of a don't speak unless spoken to type. "What starter can we find for you today," Rowan asked then, wanting to help him and get him on his way to begin his journey through this great region of theirs.[/I] |

"Well, I'm just wondering what kind of starter Pokemon you have here, Professor. I'd bet they're really good Pokemon for other trainers to have to choose from." Matthew replied, curious to see which three Pokemon he'd have to choose from. "I do apologize if I'm holding you up from other things, but I just have to know." he then adds.

Standing there with the young man, Rowan had posed his question, and the young man replied in kind. "A thirst for knowledge too? Don't be afraid to speak up young man, questions are the very basis of all learnings," Rowan smiled as he pondered on the boy's question. From HS coat pocket he drew out three rectangular devices, all relatively small and flat, very similar to that of a Pokedex. He held them in one hand as he turned them and fanned them out like a deck of cards to show the young man. There on each device, it seemed they were minature pokedexes each with a three dimensional image and some statistics of three different Pokemon. "Here in the Sinnoh Region, as you register for the Pokemon League, trainers are welcome to one of these three Pokemon; There Grass type Turtwig, the Fire type Chimchar, and the Water type Piplup," Rowan answered to let the young man know what Pokemon he could receive from this facility. |

Matthew looked at the images of the Pokemon and their stats. From there, it seemed like it might be a difficult decision for him to make. How could he choose which Pokemon he wants? They all sound like they could be really good partners for him.
He looked at each Pokemon closely, observing not only their physical details, but also what their personalities might be like. "Hmmm... Turtwig seems like it could be a clear-cut choice for me, but there is a question as to whether or not he be a strong fighter much like Chimchar... Oh, but then again, that Piplup looks really cool as well as cute. On the subject of looks though, I wonder what their final evolutions would look like." he thought to himself as he started to picture what each Pokemon might look like once it evolves.
After about twenty seconds of thinking, Matthew came to a decision. "Professor Rowan, I've made up my mind." he then says.
