History:
Underwater. How did I get underwater?
Dare was born the youngest son to Valor and Martha Hyoujun. Valor was an archeologist, specializing in ancient societies in Johto, while his mother was a former pokemon ranger. His parents met in the Sinnoh region when it had been discovered that there were ruins with similar markings and pokemon to those found at the Ruins of Alph. His father had been sent to the ruins to investigate, where he met and fell in love with the Pokemon Ranger Martha, who was at the newly discovered ruins in order to protect the pokemon there. After the expidition, the two settled down in Ecruteak City, where Valor could study the ruins of the Burned Tower, and Martha could work as a ranger at the nearby Mount Mortar. Martha retired to become a housewife after discovering that she was pregnant with Dare's older brother, Silas.
I remember, searching the caves with Silas. Why am I underwater?
Some of his earliest memories are at the Ruins of Alph, with his father, playing on the dirt floor while the man searched out the hieroglyphics. "I wish I could decipher what these mean!," Valor would often whisper, his breath slow, deliberate, calm. Valor rarely lost his temper, especially with Dare around. Smiling, his father turned to Dare and asked, "Hey buddy, do you think you could tell me what these mean?" Dare little older than 4 walked over to the ruins and began to trace their outlines with his finger, intently. He gained a serious look, and gazed upon the wall. Then a smile suddenly broke out upon his face."Nope!! Sorry Daddy!" Well, It was worth a shot...
The water is so fast, Its rushing all around me now, I can't breathe.
As Silas and Dare grew older, their father explored Alph less and less, turning instead to the Burnt Tower to understand history's mysteries. This allowed the young boys to explore the caverns of Mount Mortar and to play pretend like they were Mom! Martha always warned the boys to be careful, and to be wary of the water inside the mountain. It moves faster than it looks, and I don't think I could bear the thought of losing either one of my boys!
Silas! Help!
One of the Boy's favorite games to play in the caves was to watch the wild fighting Pokemon Wrestle! In the dim caverns, the wild fighting types would gather to test their skills against one another. Machop and Machoke, geodude and graveller, and occasionally a heracross who found its way into the caves would all square up to test their strength. It was a rough and tumble type of game, but the pokemon were determined to find a victor. This seemed to happen at least once a week, and it was on one such occasion that a young tyrogue appeared to challenge the group. Though smaller than most of the other pokemon, the Scuffle pokemon was determined to win. It was taken down again and again, easily beaten by the seasoned machops, and no match for the machokes and gravelers, but it never gave up. Dare could not help but watch in amazement at this underdog of a Scuffle Pokemon. "Doesn't he know he is going to lose?" Dare would whisper to his brother. "Tyrogue are tough pokemon, they are said to never give up!" Dare could not help but to admire this pokemon.
It's all starting to get dark, am I going to die??
After watching these pokemon spar for over a year, Dare and Silas watched a match get out of hand. The current champion, a machamp with a large ego used circle throw to toss the Tyrouge out of the ring. In doing so, the Superpower pokemon threw the Scuffle Pokemon out of the ring, and into a river in the cave some distance away. Tyrogue bobbed on the surface for a moment, but it was soon evident that this fighting pokemon could not swim. Before he knew what he was doing, Dare jumped into the water after the pokemon, his only thought to save him from the torrent below. His rash thinking caused him to collide with a rock submerged just beneath the surface, and for him to black out. Having seen the Silas, rushed to the aid of the two young ones.In what seemed like an eternity to Dare, the older brother rescued both the pokemon and the young boy from what would have been disaster.
It was from that moment forward that the Tyrogue never left Dare's side, seeming to owe the brother's a debt of gratitude. Having followed the boy's home, it seemed determined to guard the boy's. Martha and Valor could do little to object, both of them having pokemon companions of their own what harm could a Tyrogue be? The one stipulation Martha placed upon the boy's was that they care for Tyrogue properly. "Tyrogue are very determined pokemon boys," their mother told them. "He is going to want to train every day, and it is going to fall on the both of you to see that it happens. And so that wis just what the boy's did. They went rock climbing, hiking, cave exploring, wrestled, and raced with the Scuffle pokemon, all to keep him happy.
In less than a year after the incident, Silas turned eighteen and left for college, leaving the twelve year old Dare to care for the Scuffle Pokemon. Over the next four years Dare would train the pokemon the best he could, but it became clear that the regime would no longer be enough to satisfy the Tyrogue. It took Dare three month's to convince his parents to let him leave home, which he was allowed to do, on the condition that he start his journey in New Bark Town and receive a pokemon from the renowned Professor Elm. So Dare and Tyrogue made the journey down to the little town with the lab, the town of new beginnings, the town where they would meet their first companion, Dare's official starter pokemon.
