Personality: Mostly laid-back and easy going. Would rather not be around people, but won't be rude if they have to be around others. 

History: Jo spent all of their life in Eterna. They hated most of it. Sure family life was okay and they got on with a few of the neighbor kids but not really all that close with any of them. Generally Jo got along better with their family's pet pokemon than the other kids. This being said a history of early tragedy in the family on pokemon journeys led Jo's family to withhold their permission for Jo to leave until they were 17. This was rough on Jo because they were just discovering they didn't feel like the gender they were assigned at birth. As the other kids turned 10 and 11 and left on their own journeys as trainers and such Jo retreated into books and games. During this time Jo got a hold of some old Pokemon Ranger field guides and feel in love. They devoured everything they could get their hands on, with mixed reactions from their parents. Kate, their Mom, was just glad that Jo wasn't running away or something. Don, their father, wasn't a huge from of his kid becoming a Ranger, it could be a dangerous job after all, but since Jo was going to be older than most when they started their journey hopefully they would be more prepared than most as well.

Jo did odd jobs around town until their birthday, for the Herb shop, Bicycle shop, and Pokemart etc. They also attended every challenge to the grass gym that was open to the public, doing their best to learn what they could about battling and pokemon before receiving their partner pokemon. Because of this Jo sort-of knows the Grass gym leader, Gardenia.
