There was too much that Emiri had to think about and process as she moved slowly through the Pokemon Center, the egg having gone behind the counter with the nurse whom said she would help it as it began to hatch. She knew that the egg was getting ready to hatch, and it could have started to hatch a lot sooner, but she had been out in the reserve for about a week now, and had had the egg for more than a few days, and by now she had hoped that at least just one of her Pokemon would have been able to find the mother. Kovu would have never given up even if Emiri had had any intention of keeping and raising the egg, she knew how important things could become to him and how much of a big heart he still had under his scarred scales, but now that the egg was hatching, it was changing everything. She knew she would have to consider it now, taking the baby with her and her team, despite her reluctance in doing so. She knew how to care for baby Pokemon, she liked to think that Venusaur was a prime example of a hand raised Bulbasaur if she did say so herself, but there was still just too many threats out there on her life that could mean imminent danger for something so small and young, she wouldn't be able to live with herself if anything happened to the baby. She could ask the reserve to take it back, to raise the baby within the facility, but it didn't seem like they had too many resources to really care for babies or such that might be found on the reserve since it was such a natural place that Pokemon parents would raise their young themselves. Would they take it? Would they only give it to another trainer that might not be any safer than if it came with her? Would Kovu let her give the baby away...? Nevermind that her thoughts were still reeling on the strange creature with the metal mask she had found after Flareon brought her and Charizard to see it, and she was still contemplating how safe it really was to have Nimbus and Cerian along with her... She couldn't keep one thought straight, she had too many things to think about, but Emiri felt a shift in Nimbus' demeanor beside her as his ears lowered against his head, and Emiri looked in the direction that his wide blue eyes were staring in. Emiri had almost forgotten about the red head girl, it had been at least an hour since the girl had walked off before to follow her Charizard, but she was walking towards her and even called Emiri's name, earning a wide eyed stare to match that of Nimbus' beside her.
"Uhm... Yeah... That's my name," Emiri replied in a small voice, having not really been expecting to see the girl again after she had walked off. She could have very well had her Lucario taken care of and then been out in the grass and fields again for all Emiri knew, but it seemed that she was still around the campgrounds.
"Emiri, is this the human you had been interacting with earlier," Zaron asked then as the Haunter loomed above them both, and while he hadn't necessarily been there physically during the confrontation and the encounter, he was one of the only Pokemon besides Cronus that was directly connected to Emiri's mind, so he knew very well what had gone on just a bit ago involving the human girl. Emiri stood there for a moment longer then, unsure of what to make out of their second encounter now, but if there was one thing that she knew above anything else, it was Pokemon and how much she cared about Pokemon rather than other humans, and she knew the girl had that Lucario that had been hurt by that Loudred.
"Your Lucario, is it doing alright after the Loudred attacked," Emiri asked after a moment, still unsure why the girl had taken the Pokeball that contained the Loudred with her since it had attacked them like that, but Emiri could see the few small Pokemon the girl had with her before, and a Dragonair now too, but she didn't see the Lucario at all that had followed the girl Kira before.

Her thoughts still wandering around in regards to the egg that had been taken by the nurse, and hoping that Charizard and Azuran were going to be able to find Kovu, Venusaur and Lynno with relative ease, Emiri stood there in the middle of the Pokemon center with her small stature and closed off demeanor, only being able to take solace in knowing that Zaron was here and was close, and she felt safer around Nimbus every day that she got to spend with him. She felt more comfortable the more of her Pokemon she had out with her, and contemplated letting out Flareon and Cerian at the very least, but she didn’t want to crowd the center much, or make the girl Kira feel like she was trying to ignore her. Emiri knew that she had trouble communicating and interacting with other humans, and while she wasn’t particularly fond of any one person, Marcellus being the only person that she felt truly comfortable around, and maybe her cousin Rhienne, she knew that here and there she needed to at least try and put in the effort to be a normal human being. Zaron was there though beside her, one of her longest companions of almost four years now, and he was easing into her mind again to try and help her calm and focus like he always did, knowing how hard it was for her to keep things straight sometimes. In regards to her small question though, the girl Kira replied that the Lucario, named Lucy it seemed, was still being taken care of with the center staff. Emiri couldn’t fathom what kind of damage the Loudred had managed to inflict, she had thought that Lucario were rather tough and could take some damage because of their strength, though she hadn’t encountered that many Lucario to know. She had never seen Macon in battle, the hospitable southern Lucario that Marcellus had at his home, but she remembered the Lucario that Rhienne had with her when they were fighting together in Mahogany Town those years ago, and she could recall that the steel type was able to take a few hits, even from the glitch Missingno itself, but that was just an assumption that Emiri knew she was making, generalizing about all Lucario rather than each one individually.
”Oh, I’m sorry…,” Emiri offered then, but again the girl went on to give a bit more information than Emiri had really bargained for, going on about how she had had the Lucario since it was a Riolu for a while now, at least since she had started traveling. Emiri wasn’t sure how long the girl had been traveling, but from her experience meeting other trainers she might be able to guess that it wasn’t for too long. She was young, or at least Emiri might be able to guess that she was younger than she was, and her Pokemon didn’t seem to be exactly as well trained as someone who had been traveling for a while could manage. But any length of time that one spent with a companion was something to regard, and it seemed that the Lucario really was very important to the girl Kira.
”I’m sure she’ll be alright. The Pokemon Center staff do take good care of their patients, they can help a lot of injuries,” Emiri tried to offer, trying to ebb away some of the negative feelings that were coming from the girl that she could feel. Despite how long ago the accident was with Alex’s experimental technology from Team Rocket, she was still too sensitive to emotions and feelings and auras for her liking most often than not, especially when it came to negative feelings or any kind of emotional pain. Emiri was confident though that the Pokemon Center would be able to help, in the many times that she had had to make visits because of the awful things that had happened to her or her Pokemon, they were able to help tend to the injuries like Kovu’s wings, or Rhydon’s brush with Darkrai, or even her own injuries like the giant white scars that marked her back. The Pokemon Center was capable of tending to a lot of things, and Emiri could be sure that the Lucario would be alright.
Her condolences aside, Emiri watched the girl Kira glance up at Zaron whom was hovering close beside her, an ever present force in Emiri’s life, and his being there seemed to spark something as the red head reached for another Pokeball of hers. From it, another Haunter came and made a sort of face at Zaron that didn’t exactly amuse her own ghost, but Emiri understood then what the girl had mentioned, that they shared a few Pokemon in common in regards to the Charizard and Aerodactyl that she had seen earlier. Emiri glanced behind the girl though off to the side where some of her other Pokemon remained, and she noticed that they had more than just those few Pokemon. Emiri had her own Dragonair at home, but she also had Salamence and Flix, that were at one point both a Bagon and a Trapinch. She found it odd, knowing that she shared so many Pokemon in common with the other girl, especially spending so much time around Marcellus where they had completely different teams. He thoroughly enjoyed the company of psychic type Pokemon, and other rather supernatural Pokemon that Emiri just really couldn’t bring herself to befriend herself, where she had larger Pokemon and dragons that she knew Marcellus wasn’t particularly fond of in return.
”Oh… I guess so… I have a Flygon and a Salamence too, like your Trapnich and Bagon, and I have a Dragonair at home in Kanto,” Emiri replied, though she had never trained a Gible before, but knew that her closest friend Aku from those years ago had one as one of his closest companions, but she couldn’t quite recall ever having encountered a Noibat for herself before as the purple Pokemon fluttered around the room.

Having glanced again in the background to where the small clutch of Pokemon remained, the girl Kira replied to Emiri’s small confirmation that they did have a few Pokemon in common, stating that they seemed to have a lot more than that in common. On the inside, Emiri really couldn’t’ disagree more, and for the girl’s sake, she was thankful that they didn’t actually have that much in common. She wouldn’t want to wish anything that had happened to her and her Pokemon on anyone else. Despite all of her mild successes, the gym battles she had overcome and the impossibly strong relationship that she had with her Pokemon, she sometimes wondered if it was all worth it with the things that she had seen and the perils she had faced. She’s nearly died more times than she liked to recount whether it be by the spirit of that wretched blade, Darkrai, Team Rocket, Raphiel and that ghastly white hand, Missingno, being thrown from her mount in a tornado, and the poacher that had taken Charizard, she bore so many scars both inside and outside, had more nightmares than she could keep a lid on most nights, she was thankful that she and the girl Kira didn’t have anything more in common than a few Pokemon.
”Uhm… maybe, I guess so,” Emiri digressed, trying to ebb away the monsters she could feel crawling to the edge of her thoughts, the nightmares she suppressed every day, and with Zaron’s help Emiri was able to focus just slightly again on the conversation at hand, and the girl Kira was referring to Flix she had seen earlier that day, and the Dragonair that Emiri had back home with her parents. Emiri was left to her thoughts for just a moment, as it seemed the nurse had finished with the Lucario Lucy that had been hurt by that Loudred. She thought about home then, and how long it had been since she had returned, and while home was always in the back of her ever expansive mind, she couldn’t quite hang on to the thought of returning there to Pallet Town where her ranch remained in the rolling fields. It all seemed like a distant memory, her quiet days as a young ranch hand, raising Venusaur when he hatched, the Pidgeot brothers that she had raised and played with, and all of the Pokemon she had gotten to know. Life was simple then, with no monsters and nothing to fear, no enemies to fight or troubles to run from, and she knew that even if she did go back home and stayed there on her ranch despite everything that had happened, it wouldn’t change anything, wouldn’t take away her vivid nightmares or make her any less a target for so many horrible people. Even at home now she felt like she wouldn’t be safe, but at the same time, she felt like she was getting a little bit better, if only slightly, about dealing with the things that had happened to her, because the thought of having no truly safe place didn’t scare her near as much as it might have a few months ago.
Emiri was trying not to get lost in her thoughts, and the girl Kira seemed to be doing better now that her Lucario was back from being helped by the nurse, and taking another glance at the girl’s Trapinch that seemed to be sleeping off to the side. She supposed that the girl had never quite known what the odd ground type was going to evolve into, but it would someday evolve into a Flygon like Flix was.
”The Pokemon with the golden scales… Yeah, that was a Flygon, his name is Flix. Trapnich do evolve into Flygon in their final stage, so one day you’ll have a Flygon too, and a Salamence if you train them both right,” Emiri commented then, knowing that dragons in general were a difficult species to train and maintain, and it seemed that this girl Kira had quite a few of them. She had asked too about the Dragonair that Emiri had at home, about having not yet evolving it into a Dragonite.
”It’s not up to me to evolve my Dragonair if he doesn’t want to evolve, but I think one day he’ll decide that he’s ready to become a Dragonite,” Emiri spoke tentatively then, knowing that it wasn’t in fact up to her whether the dragon evolved or not, she couldn’t have made any of her Pokemon evolve even if she’d wanted to. If Charizard had wanted to stay a Charmeleon, or even a Charmander, Emiri couldn’t have contested that at all, and she would still love her with as much of her being as she did now.
”I’m glad your friend is feeling better,” Nimbus offered from the side as he glanced at the Lucario that had come to join them, standing on the ground beside Emiri rather than sitting on his tail that floated behind him and wavered in the air like a surfboard tethered to its swimmer. He was wanting to try and get more comfortable around other humans too, and while he had been around humans before on the islands where he was from, it was the fact that Emiri’s emotions came through so strong in being confronted by another human that he had become cautious and weary of the other presence.

Standing there in the Pokemon Center with the girl Kira, it seemed that something Emiri had said had caused her to go into a sort of deep thought. Emiri wasn’t sure what was so wrong about saying that when Dragonair felt like he wanted to evolve, he would become a Dragonite, but the girl Kira seemed a bit distressed at the thought, and went on about them needing to reach a certain level to evolve? Emiri couldn’t fathom what kind of thought that was, what she meant by needing to reach a certain level in order for them to evolve. A certain level of strength maybe, or a certain level of trust, knowledge, or self-confidence and resolve perhaps, but again, none of that was up to her or to the trainer that a Pokemon traveled with. Emiri felt that it was all up to her own Pokemon when they wanted to evolve, or if they didn’t want to at all, she knew it had taken Blastoise a long while to evolve into a Wartortle, and even longer still to evolve into a Blastoise, and she could have fathomed that that had something to do with a lack in self confidence that he might have had in himself and how afraid he used to be of the world around him and how cautious he was. Then there were others like Rhydon who didn’t seem to waste any time in wanting to evolve, she had only found him as a Rhyhorn that day when someone abandoned his Pokeball in Viridian City, and then a few weeks later after they had defeated Lance, he was the gentle gray giant she knew today. Every Pokemon was different and every circumstance made an impact on how they felt about evolving or not, that was what Emiri knew as far as evolution went.
”Uhm… I don’t know really….. I’ve never had trouble with my Pokemon evolving or not because I don’t worry about it… It’s always been their choice,” Emiri tried to say in response, unsure of what the girl wanted to hear as an answer. It wasn’t as though evolution was a technical aspect that could be altered and enhanced or tracked, it just happened when it happened, and that was always enough for Emiri if her Pokemon decided they were ready.

Out in the fields of grass that spanned for miles in each direction for the reserve, Emiri had sent Charizard and Azuran to go find the remainder of their teammates that had been wandering around in order to let them know that Emiri had gone to the Pokemon Center. Lynno and Venusaur were out training and working on their strength and practice, but Kovu was out for the soul purpose of trying to find the mother of the egg that he had fought to protect. He wanted to know that she was alright after having sacrificed herself so that he could run with her egg and keep it safe, but it had been almost a week of constant searching day in and day out, and he hadn’t been able to catch a single trace of her. He ran in any direction he thought he caught her scent, stood in the grasses and just listened for the faintest sound, a wing beat, a growl, anything that sounded familiar, and his keen eyes always kept a look out for that glistening white fur and those enormous feathered wings, but so far he hadn’t managed to find anything that lead him back to her. He knew they were probably running out of time before the egg hatched, and he knew that they couldn’t stay in this place forever looking for her, but he was so determined and had such a big heart when it came to things like this, he just didn’t want to give up. He was also trying to make himself stronger after having been lost in his self-deprecation for so long, having lost a lot of will to even move in the mornings let alone get into the air and fly like he wanted to so much. But this mission, this need to find the mother of the egg and Emiri’s encouragement had given him that spark that he had been missing, the push he needed to start getting himself back together, and he was getting stronger again every day that he went running, pushing against his wings, and he even got to gliding with his powerful leaps into the air, wearing himself down to the bone every day, but knowing it was worth it.
The black dragon was moving along the ground as he continued his quest, but his ears moved and shot up at the sound of wing beats coming towards him through the air. He knew they didn’t belong to the mother of the egg he was looking for, but he recognized them regardless as he turned to find Azuran and Charizard coming towards them in the air with Lynno towing behind them. They had managed to find the bird in the air easy enough, and knew they needed to find Venusaur as well, but they spotted Kovu’s dark scales moving along the ground and had come to let him know what was going on. He looked up at them though with a perplexed expression and wondered why they had come to find him when they knew he was out searching, but Charizard came down from the air to land on the ground, her breathing a little labored since she was still recovering herself from being as sick as she had been.
”We had to come find you, Emiri’s at the Pokemon Center right now with the egg. It started to hatch,” Charizard breathed as she came towards their familiar teammate, and at those words Kovu’s eyes grew wide with panic as he knew that he hadn’t been even close to finding the mother yet. There was one thing he knew though, that he was in charge of that egg and it was up to him to make sure that it was taken care of, and if it was hatching, he wanted to be right there to know that it was alright. Kovu looked to Charizard with sharp eyes then, gritting his fangs together as he opened his wings, he knew he didn’t have any time to waste, he needed to be there at the Pokemon Center. Without warning, Kovu took off running with his wings going against the air, and with his might and his determination to get there to the Pokemon Center he leaped forward and pushed with his wings, trying to get some air under them. He faltered in the air though, coming back down hard on his legs, but he kept running as Charizard and Azuran called after him, trying to get him to come back since they were all planning to wait by the tree that they had used as their landmark for the day. Kovu wasn’t going to listen though, not when he had his mind set on getting to the Pokemon Center as he ran still as fast as his legs could carry him, leaping into the air and trying to push up with his wings, he tried to get some air under his wings, tried to flap and gain altitude all while gritting his teeth together and bearing through the pain that he felt in the exertion of his tired muscles. Kovu wavered in the air, and thought surely he would end up on the ground again, but he pushed again, not giving in to his weakness and rose into the air, climbing and gaining speed through the pain and actually flying for the first time in a long time since his wings had been damaged.

There was little more that Emiri felt she could say on the matter of Kira’s Pokemon evolving or not, and she couldn’t quite figure out what more to say as they stood there in the middle of the Pokemon center with each other. Zaron wavered in the air around Emiri and was less than amused with the other ghost type that had been released from its Pokeball that was chuckling and making faces for whatever reason. Zaron knew that others of his kind were more for tormenting humans and causing trouble, but being alone on that island for so long before Emiri had found him, he had grown more quiet and less outgoing than some of his other kind, and he wasn’t having much fun being prodded for some unruly behavior. He remained there though, knowing that Emiri felt better in his company when he was out, but he stopped then as he felt something coming towards them from the outside, something familiar.
”Emiri” Zaron spoke then, trying to get her attention, and before she could turn to him to ask him what it was he had to say, there was a loud thud of a noise that came from the outside, and an all too familiar roar and cry as Kovu had come in for a less than graceful landing outside the Pokemon Center. Emiri barely had time to react before the large doors to the Pokemon Center opened, and the dragon rushed in as soon as he could fit through the doors with another series of roars and cries, finding Emiri immediately and pushing right past the red headed girl and her few Pokemon.
”Kovu,” Emiri exclaimed as he rushed towards her then, nearly running her down as she put her hands out and caught his head as he pushed her back a few inches on her feet. He was sniffing at her vigorously, and breathing heavily from his painful flight over the tree line, but he’d made it, and he needed to know where the egg was.
”Kovu, Kovu please calm down,” Emiri tried to reason, shouting just a little over his roars, trying to watch his long tail so that it didn’t knock over anything or anyone, and trying to make sure his wings were settled so he didn’t sweep anyone upside the head. Nimbus jumped back too at the sudden rush towards them, and saw that Kovu’s tail was getting close to a set of chairs, and he scrambled forward on his paws to push them out of the way, trying to help Emiri as she tried to calm Kovu down as his large figure was only just able to fit inside the Pokemon Center, unless he was being unruly like this.
”Hey, hey, it’s okay, the egg is safe,” Emiri tried to reason, trying to get his attention as she moved her hands to his muzzle again, grasping gently, but holding on firmly to try and still his movements. His breathing was erratic, and he continued to sniff and look around Emiri to try and find the egg when her voice caught his attention, and he chanced a quick glance at her with his green eyes.
”The egg is safe, the nurse has it, but you have to calm down Kovu,” Emiri spoke as she held his head still in her hands, his heavy breathing fanning through her long hair as he looked at her intently with his green eyes. She managed to grasp enough of his attention that he came to a sort of calm, his movements slowing as he chose to sit on the floor of the Pokemon Center. He shifted his wings, and stilled his tail as the many scars that covered and shone on his black scales glinted slightly in the fluorescent lights of the center, and he gave one heaving breath as he calmed down just that bit more.
”Where’s everyone else, Charizard and Azuran had to have found you” Emiri asked then, knowing that they couldn’t very well fit into the Pokemon center like he could since he had a much longer and thinner structure than they did, but she didn’t hear their voices and Zaron didn’t sense their presence as Emiri looked at Kovu.
”Are they still looking for Lynno or Venusaur,” Emiri asked then, earning a nod from Kovu whom hadn’t seen the grass type with them when Charizard and Azuran found him in the air.
”Okay, well the egg is with the nurse, we have to wait to see what happens,” Emiri answered, though she looked to the girl Kira whom had been right in the path of Kovu charging towards her, and hoped that she was alright.
”Kira? Are you alright? I’m sorry, he gets a little carried away sometimes, and forgets how big he is,” Emiri asked, moving around Kovu’s large body slightly to try and catch sight of the red head and her Pokemon.

Again, just as quickly as she had come, the girl Kira was gone after Emiri tried to make sure that she was alright after Kovu had rushed into the Pokemon Center. It was just like those few hours ago when she had encountered her out in the fields, she came when her Aerodactyl had tried to attack, sat in the grass for a few minutes, then left once that Loudred attacked and that was that. Kira gave a short goodbye, wanting to find more Pokemon out in the fields of the reserve she'd said, and wished Emiri luck with the egg that she had mentioned, and was walking out of the center with her Pokemon, leaving Emiri to her own devices again. At this point, she wasn't sure which of them was having more trouble being social in their interactions with each other since the girl Kira seemed so fleeting where ever she went, but there was little Emiri could do about it as the red head walked out of the center. Kovu watched her go with his green eyes, his breathing still heavy and labored as he sat there on the floor beside Emiri, and with that she was gone and Emiri was alone.
"Kovu, Charizard and Azuran had only found you a few minutes ago," Zaron commented, having been in touch with Charizard and Azuran while they were out searching, just keeping small tabs on everything for Emiri's sake so they could all be relatively on the same page. He wasn't as strong mentally as someone like Cronus where he could stay where he was and keep everyone on the same page about everything all the time no matter where they were, but he did his best, and knew that they had only told Kovu about the egg a few minutes ago.
"How did you get here so fast," Zaron asked then as he had earned the dragon's attention, and while Zaron knew that Kovu was exceptionally fast when he ran on his legs, that was a lot of ground to cover from where they had been at the edge of the reserve miles away from the Pokemon Center. Emiri listened to Zaron, and looked to Kovu then as she still held his head in her hands, knowing that Kovu had been working on getting stronger in their time on the reserve to start getting back to how he was before he had been so hurt, but she hadn't seen him fly again yet. She remembered the sound that came from outside of the Pokemon Center, it was a loud thud, and it sounded like he had landed hard on the ground, and Emiri looked at him with wide eyes as he looked down to her from Zaron's gaze.
"Kovu, did you fly here," Emiri asked then, wondering if it was true that he had made it back up into the air, and Kovu winced as he looked to his wings that hung limp at his sides from the exertion it took to in fact get up in the air, but he looked back to Emiri and nodded slowly at her question. Emiri felt her heart swell then as she couldn't help but smile at Kovu's answer. She could tell that it might not have been the easiest flight, and it seemed that it took a lot out of him and he was still in a great deal of pain, but Emiri believed him whole heartedly when he said that he had flown all the way to the center, and couldn't be prouder of him.
"Oh Kovu, I'm so happy that you were able to get in the air again," Emiri breathed then as she pulled him in closer to her, hugging around his muzzle as she stroked his scales with her hands. Kovu stood there, and accepted the hug, but he couldn't help but give in to the familiarity of the touch as he nuzzled in closer to Emiri, a soft purr of a sound coming from his voice. He was sore, and his wings and shoulders ached, but in that moment that he had made it into the air, he almost felt like himself again, like he hadn't been hurt like he had. He had felt so distant and so alienated because his wings had been damaged recently that he just wasn't himself, but sitting there in the center with Emiri's small arms wrapped around him in an embrace, he felt a sense of normality wash over him, something that he had longed for so much after what had happened. Emiri listened to the small purrs that were coming from Kovu, and she almost felt the salty sting of tears coming to her eyes as she stood there with him. She hadn't heard him make those sounds in such a long time, she had wondered if he would ever be back to his old self again, or even close to it since she knew that nothing would ever be the same, but she was so happy then to know that he had flown and that he himself was feeling better about his recovery that she had to sniffle a bit to hold back the tears, unable to contain her joy.
"I'm so proud of you Kovu," Emiri said after a moment in a quiet voice, feeling him relax against her still and another purr came from his voice.
"And we'll keep practicing, we'll keep working with your wings. I promise, you'll be even better at flying than you were before," Emiri promised as she stood back just a bit to look into his green eyes, she wanted him to know that she meant every word, that together they were going to make sure that he was going to be able to fly again.

It had been a bit since Kovu had made his way to the Pokemon Center and the girl Kira had left Emiri to her own devices as she remained in the center around a small waiting area. Despite the notion that Kovu might be just a bit too big to fit comfortably in the center with so many other patrons around, Emiri managed to move him and maneuver him over to a wall off to the side so he would be less in the way of those around them. Zaron was hovering in the air, keeping tabs on the things that he could reach with his power, and Kovu rested on the floor beside a chair that Emiri was sitting in with his head in her lap while she absentmindedly stroked his scales on his head. Nimbus stayed too within the center since he felt responsible for the egg as well, and as he sat on his tail on the other side of Emiri, he busied himself with watching the happenings around them, learning more about human things that he might not be so familiar with. There were so many strange Pokemon here in this place, unlike those that were on the islands he was from, he even saw an orange Pokemon that looked exactly like him, but it wasn’t floating at all, and had a sharper tail and ears. Emiri sat there, content at least with her Pokemon around, comforted with Kovu’s warmth that always emanated from his scales and knowing that he was feeling more like himself bit by bit, but she still couldn’t help but worry about the egg, and what it would mean if she even tried to consider bringing the baby along with her. There was no telling what happened to the mother, they had been searching for the better part of a week now and hadn’t caught any sight of her, and it wouldn’t do them any good to keep looking if she might in fact be gone, though Emiri liked to think that she had left this place rather than something worse… She just knew that it wasn’t safe for them to have a baby around, too many things happened to them and she had so much trouble following her, and there was no real way to make it all stop, at least no immediate way. Her thoughts went to her ambition of league Champion for Kanto, wondering if she showed her strength there that she would be less likely to be targeted, or if it would only put an even bigger target on her back, but there was no telling, and she wasn’t exactly ready to find out. She just didn’t feel it was the right time yet to challenge the league, those people who had turned her life towards the fear and nightmares that she harbored every day, she and her Pokemon still had some healing and recovery to do before she knew she would be strong enough to face them again, but soon, she could feel it. Soon she would be able to hopefully put some of those painful memories to rest, and be able to move on past what had happened.
Emiri was rather lost in thought, much like she typically was now a days with the things she had to think over, but Nimbus beside her was paying close attention to things, and felt something shift in the environment around them. His ears flicked and his long feet twitched in the air as he looked with his bright blue eyes towards the counter where Emiri had given the human nurse the egg a while ago. He felt her coming towards them now, her energy coming back into focus, and Nimbus looked to Emiri then before the nurse emerged from behind the counter.
”Emiri, the human is coming back, the one you gave the egg to,” Nimbus whispered, as he looked to Emiri, and sure enough coming from around the counter Emiri caught sight of the nurse. Emiri gently raised Kovu’s head from her lap, earning a small disgruntled groan from the dragon after being so comfortable and resting, but she hushed him with a soft pat on his head as she stood to meet the nurse who was moving towards her. Zaron came closer to the small group, and Kovu and Nimbus looked intently too at the nurse who Emiri approached, wondering what she had come to say.
”This little Pokemon has spent quite some time working on the shell, but the egg is just about ready to hatch. Would you like to come see,” the nurse asked of Emiri, having kept the egg in the nursing room she had taken it too so as not to disrupt the process the baby Pokemon was going through. Emiri felt her breath hitch in her throat, knowing now that the reality of this egg hatching was so very close. There were too many things for her to consider, too many things for her to think about in bringing a baby with them, or even deciding not to bring it with them… But could she leave a baby alone like that, and just throw caution to the wind and hope for the best…? She didn’t think that would be fair at all, not after what Kovu had done to try and save it, they were responsible for it, no matter how much she might not want to think so… Emiri realized that she had been standing there for a bit too long lost in her thoughts when Zaron came down closer to her, trying to bring her back to this reality.
”Emiri, go see the baby. We’ll talk about things later,” Zaron reasoned, trying to help Emiri make a small decision in that moment, trying to help her sort out her thoughts if only for this short point in time. Emiri breathed at hearing Zaron’s voice, focusing then on just one thing to do then. She looked back at him with hesitation though, but he only urged her gently with a small push of his hands towards the nurse.
”Okay, I’ll come see the baby,” Emiri breathed after a moment, ready to go with the nurse as Kovu stood on his four legs too, standing as well as he could behind Emiri to start following her. Emiri hadn’t noticed, or wouldn’t have thought anything of it were it not for the odd glance that the nurse gave the black dragon. It was a bit of a squeeze for Kovu to fit here in the lobby, but bringing him through the hallways, no matter how careful he might be, Emiri understood that the nurse might not want to be in charge of that…
”Um… Kovu, I think you have to stay out here, just stay with Nimbus and Zaron,” Emiri commented slowly, glancing from the nurse back to Kovu who grunted at the audacity of the notion. He gave a few snuffs and his claws clicked against the tile floor of the center, but Emiri reached up with her small hands and tried to calm him down.
”I’ll be back in a few minutes, and if everything is alright, I’ll bring the baby, I promise,” Emiri replied, trying to get him to listen to reason, and with another groan and a roll of his round green eyes, Kovu sat back on the ground in the corner that they had taken up. He was still less than pleased, and grumbled to himself as Emiri moved away from him, but Zaron urged Emiri forward again as he moved back towards Kovu.
”We’ll be fine, we’ll wait right here,” Zaron confirmed, earning another sort of retorted grumble from the black dragon beside him.
”Yeah, go meet the baby Emiri,” Nimbus encouraged, his eyes bright and shining as he stood on his tail.
”Okay, I will, I’ll be right back,” Emiri returned, turning then to follow the nurse back behind the counter.

The egg fell still again, the baby was working its way out slowly but surely, and Emiri could see the patch of fur moving with steady breaths in the open part of the egg shell then. She stared at it though, the glimpse that she was getting now at the ellusive species that Kovu had seen that week ago, but there was something the nurse had said before that she recalled about the egg that wasn't quite making sense now.
"You said it was a dragon species," Emiri mentioned quietly, looking up to the nurse then whom had turned to situate a few things on a side table, glancing at Emiri then.
"Yes, I did, that was what the testing showed," the nurse answered, recalling too the small amount of tests she was able to perform on the egg at the time to determine how healthy the embryo was and how it was developing. Emiri knew that Kovu had seen the mother, he described white fur, and feathered wings, but Emiri couldn't think of a single dragon species that she knew of that grew fur of any kind. She knew that there were things in the world that she hadn't seen yet, but she could venture to say that she was well traveled and had seen quite a bit, and no part of her travels included a dragon that had fur, or at least not fur like that. There was the species Deino she knew, that had black wirey fur, but this fine white fur was nothing like that, and nothing like Kovu had described.
"But dragons don't grow fur. Are you sure the test was right," Emiri responded, sounding rather plain in her response to the nurse whom by now was a bit worried on the girl and how she interacted socially with others, but Emiri was being genuine in her concern for wanting to know as much as she could about the baby that she was going to have to make a decision for.
"Yes, I'm sure the test was right. This pokemon is of the dragon species," the nurse answered just a bit shortly, not particuarly fond of being questioned in the profession she had been doing for a good while now, but Emiri seemed little convinced.
"Is there anything else that you know about it," Emiri asked then, wondering if maybe she was actually mistaken, but if it turned out to be a flying type Pokemon of some kind, that could still help her maybe find its mother with the right information.
"No, not right now. We will need to wait until it is hatched," the nurse returned, but the egg shuttered again and the cracks shifted over the body of the baby inside, giving way to more movement.

Watching the egg hatch and watching bit by bit as the baby revealed itself, Emiri was hardly able to fathom just what kind of Pokemon this was going to be. She had never seen anything in her time in traveling that Kovu had described with white fur and feathered wings, being taller than he was and the other attributes he was able to portray, but Emiri was little convinced that this was going to be a dragon like the nurse had said. Everything else was coming to fruition though as she watched the small, barely developed wing shift with a twitch, the tiniest sound of feathers moving together coming to her ears. She wished that she could meet the mother, or even just another of this already unique species under different circumstances, maybe even try to befriend one. She always felt like she had a connection with flying type Pokemon, or Pokemon that had the freedom to fly and go where ever their hearts would take them, and this little Pokemon was probably no exception. She knew of course that she wouldn't get along with every Pokemon she met, there were mean psychic type Pokemon and spiteful ghosts, and even the terribly strange creature Flareon had found in the forests here was aggressive and didn't seem to like her much, but she tried to make friends where she could and stay out of the way where it mattered, unless she really felt driven by something to press her intuition.
