That seemed rather tedious, rather exhausting to have to go back and forth like that every day, but then again, she supposed that was just like a normal commute for any other person? A commute, that just sounded so mundane and boring, certainly not a lifestyle she was wanting to live. Not that her parents were nomadic, or didn't work at all, but their professions didn't call for them to leave home too often or on a frequent, scheduled basis like having to go work on a farm called for.
"So you have to go back and forth from your house to the farm land? I suppose if that's really how you and your family wanted to work, then at least you sound like you were happy," Rhienne replied, knowing that that lifestyle was certainly not for her, but to each their own she supposed. Skylar asked then about what it was like, working with the kind of Pokemon that her mother studied, what it was like to live with them and have that unnatural side of the world forever be a part of her life. It was something she never really thought about, since it had been a part of her life for so long. Sometimes it wasn't even Pokemon that they were dealing with, but human spirits and ghosts or other mentally endowed individuals. Rhienne had seen quite a few ghosts in her life and had met many an interesting person all with their own stories.
"My mom doesn't just work with them, she lives with them. Our house never sleeps with the dozens of ghost types that roam the walls or the psychics that treat it as a sort of sanctuary," Rhienne began, and it indeed was a lifestyle all her own, just like Skylar was from a farm.
"There were even fairies and dark types that live around my house, and despite all of their natural opposition, my house is like it's own self sustaining ecosystem, but then there are those human spirits, the more malevolent things that live in my house, where we keep the objects they've possessed and attached themselves to, so it's really not just Pokemon," Rhienne continued, knowing that she had had more than her fair share of what could have been deadly encounters with the spirits and otherwise that also lived in or around her house. It was all due to her mother's studies, as though they attracted just that kind of energy and presence.
"But just because I left home doesn't mean I stopped working with what I was familiar with. I have my own trained ghost and psychic types, and dark types too, that I've come to know and trust on my journey," Rhienne mentioned, knowing right now that she only had her more natural Pokemon out and about, but only for the sake of knowing that some like Cheshire, Absolem, and Vandit might not be too keen on just being out in the middle of nowhere.
Off to the side as Rhienne was conversing with Skylar, Wattson was walking around here and there through the area of the reserve they found themselves in, just taking in the serenity of it all though paying mind to the Pokemon that dwelled around them. He knew that the Pokemon here had the potential to be exceedingly strong, so he knew he needed to be ready for any kind of challenge that might come his way, though he was little prepared for the next opponent that he would have to face, sort of. His keen ears twitched at the sound of something moving in the grass, what sounded like something moving towards them, but as he looked in the pin pointed direction of the sound, he saw nothing. Seeing nothing did not mean that there was nothing there however, he could feel the aura of something moving towards them, he knew that it was there, but why couldn't he see it?
"Rhienne... Rhienne there's something out there," Wattson spoke, coming back closer towards Rhienne and Nara as his sharp eyes looked tentatively out into the grass, and he could swear he saw the grass moving, but nothing else. Rhienne glanced at him through her glasses though, clearly not seeing anything to be concerned about, but she could certain feel Wattson's unyeilding concern for what was around them.
"I'm sure there's a lot of Pokemon out there Wattson, you can see more than any of us ever could," Rhienne agreed skeptically as she looked back to Skylar, really unsure of what the steel type could be going on about. This time though Nara moved beneath her as the tiger's excellent hearing caught the same sound that Wattson had heard, something moving through the grass, something moving towards them it sounded like, but she could not see anything in the grass. The tiger growled, and Rhienne knew then that with both Wattson and Nara on the same page, that something was in fact coming for them, but where was it? Wattson's red eyes were focused, trying to catch any sight of movement, and he could swear he saw the grass move out of the corner of his eye. He turned swiftly, trying to follow the energy that he felt around him, and his eyes focused on what seemed to be another set of sharp eyes glaring at him through the grass.
"There, I see it," Wattson called, pointing with a claw in the direction of the pair of eyes, but what ever it was seemed blended into the grass itself, like some sort of camoflauge. In that instant though, Wattson watched a set of fangs appear, and then a wide mouth open, and he was dowsed with a powerful hydro pump that seemed to come out of no where, knocking him back a few steps. The thing, realizing that it had been found, moved through the grass again, almost slithering along the ground as it's body changed right in front of their eyes. It was indeed blending in with the grass, for as it moved one could almost see the faintest outline of its body, but it's body shifted and came out as a metallic silver, revealing a very long, slender reptilian looking Pokemon that Rhienne had never seen before. The Pokemon hissed at them, bearing its sharp teeth in it's long slender mouth, gearing up for another attack.
"Wattson, it won't stop if it knows we can't see it. You have to beat it before it attacks all of us," Rhienne warned as Nara stood with bared fangs and a hiss of her own as she glared at the strange Pokemon, and Balto took a protective stance over the boy Skylar, counting on Nara to tell him if he needed to attack since the Pokemon's thermal heat signature was very low. Wattson however now had his eyes locked on the Pokemon, knowing now what it was capable of, though as he went in for his first attack, it moved effortlessly and impossibly quick with its elongated body through the grass as it disappeared again, but Wattson's use of aura helped him focus on the Pokemon's energy as he struck the ground, sending the reptile flying through the air for a short distance before it hit a tree. Rhienne watched the battle unfold behind her glasses as Wattson fought a Pokemon that they could hardly see, and Rhienne couldn't help but need to know what it was. It was fast, and powerful, and the way that it's scales changed, its entire body cloaking to match whatever it was touching it seemed, it was unlike anything she had ever seen before. If only for the sake of knowing that it wouldn't attack them again without being seen, Rhienne had every intention of capturing it. The Pokemon fought hard against Wattson, using its cloaking to the highest of its potential to try and fight off Wattson's power, but the Lucario was just as quick, and just as powerful, and landed one final attack before the thing fell still on the ground.
"I don't know what it is, but I'm not going to risk it attacking us again for revenge," Rhienne spoke, looking to Skylar as she slid down from Nara's back before she held out a hand, and in her hand appeared an Ultra Ball, from her bag courtesy of Absolem, taking her opportunity and tossing the capsule at the peculiar Pokemon in an attempt to capture it. The ball struggled and shook on the ground as she was certain the powerful Pokemon was not going to go down without a fight, but the capsule held still eventually, and the Pokemon was caught.
"Is everyone okay," Rhienne asked, looking to her Pokemon and Skylar as Wattson came back to her with his breathing heavy and his fur out of place now because of the strenuous battle he had just faced. He didn’t think he would have been able to take on a whole team like Emiri had suggested when they accepted the battle against Dylon. He knew that Lynno was willing to help, he had been sitting on the sidelines waiting for his opportunity, but there was really no point in the battle where Blastoise felt like he couldn’t keep going. His own personal skepticism and otherwise kept him from really taking in the fact that he was entirely capable of such strength like Emiri always tried to tell him though, they had all been fire types, and he knew at the very least that fire didn’t hurt him as much, and that they were susceptible to his water cannons, but none the less, Emiri was very proud of him, and that was enough for him to have a small smile on his muzzle.
Moving over the grassy field that spanned out around him for miles in any direction, Blastoise was ready to keep taking on any battle that he might be able to find, a sort of confidence washing over him. He knew that they were getting ready again for the Elite Four challenge, and despite his hesitant nature, he knew that it was important to all of them, himself included, so he felt like he could at least take this opportunity while it was presented to him. His large feet moved over the ground until he took a step, and his foot sunk into the ground with his weight, having stepped into a hole.
”That’s dangerous. Someone else could break their ankle like that,” he grumbled, struggling for only a moment to situate his weight and find his footing to lift himself up, though there was a growl and a hiss from the ground beneath his feet as he took a few steps away. Blastoise looked though, not being able to see anything, not until he felt something climbing up his shell and scratching at the surface, trying to dig in.
”Hey! Hey, get off,” Blastoise growled, as he moved, trying to swing his body with enough momentum to get whatever it was off of his shell. He felt it move though as it climbed the rest of the way up his back and came over to one of his cannons, and it was a small brown rodent looking Pokemon that hissed at him again with bared fangs and sharp claws, and it startled Blastoise as he tucked into his shell. He tried to roll and throw himself up in the air to get it off of him, though when he came out to look at the sizeable dent he made in the ground, the rodent wasn’t there. Instead it was on the ground a few feet away from him, getting ready to charge and lunge at him, and Blastoise wasn’t going to have that. Blastoise | Lv. 97 | HP 960 | Ability: Torrent

He looked at her with tired eyes before laying down on the ground on his four legs and carefully unfolding one wing and then the other. Emiri never was able to get over how incredible and impressive his wing span was as he laid them out on the ground. Being almost double his total body length, it was no wonder how he could fly with the speed and dexterity that he was capable of, and Emiri wanted nothing more than to see him back up in the air like she knew he enjoyed so much. The sun shown high in the sky above them as giant fluffy white clouds rolled through the air, and the shadows and sunlight came down on Kovu’s black scales, though the contrast highlighted the scars that showed not just on his wings, but on most of his body, especially the large crescent scar that came over the right side of his face. Emiri stood quietly beside him as she looked down over his wings, having memorized every stitch and every scar that showed against the black membrane. It had been a few days now, almost a week, since she had removed the last of the stitches, and all of the other tears had healed over as each set was removed as time went on. There were no more holes that she could see through, no tears that would stress at any movement, only a few tattered edges on the edge of his wings, it really looked like his wings were healed all the way through.
Off to the side, Emiri’s Pokemon continued to explore the area of the reserve they had started in and Flareon had moved into a small wild flower patch, coming across a rather feisty Flabebe that had challenged him with a bright fairy type attack. Flabebe | Lv. 45 | HP 340 | Ability: Flower Veil

She didn’t feel any raised scabbing any more, no swollen points in the skin, and no weak points as she brushed a little harder over one of the scars that she could see.
”Do you feel that Kovu? Does it hurt,” Emiri asked, tracing her fingers over another scar, one of the fresher ones that had just finished healing those days ago when she had removed the stitches. She looked over to Kovu’s head as he laid still on the ground, and he looked up at her after a moment with soft eyes and a small shake of his head. That was good news already, but she wanted to make absolutely sure that every inch of his wings were healed through before she started trying to test any real stress on the membrane. She moved one of her hands on the underside of his wing as she smooth her hands over either side along one of the scars that she could reach, starting to push on the skin between her fingers to make sure that there wasn’t any give.
”What about that, does that hurt? Can you feel any tearing, or any pulling,” Emiri asked, pushing still, but not hard enough to do any damage. Kovu watched her carefully with every movement that she made, but with his eyes focused intently on her hands around one of the scars in his wings, he could only feel that she was pushing against the membrane, no pain, no pulling, just the feeling of his wing between her fingers. He shook his head no again, shifting on the ground only slightly as she pulled her hands away, nodding to herself in knowing that his wings were actually healing.
Out in the fields, Ho-Oh was entertaining himself as he was chasing around the small rainbows that reflected from his own feathers when he came across a Lilligant that was wanting to initiate a battle, and the phoenix obliged as he took the challenge, proud of himself for conducting himself alone like the older Pokemon. Charizard was still asleep on the ground tucked beneath Azuran’s wing, her tail unsettled and shifting every so often between the powers that were flowing through her, but Azuran could feel that her breathing was becoming less erratic, and she was calmer than she had been the last few days. He wasn’t sure when she would feel completely better, or if she ever would again, but he was going to stay by her side no matter what to make sure that she came through this. Lynno was lazing around in a tree in the distance, not bothering himself just yet with battles or anything of the like, but Flareon was really insistent on using the time that he had here. He still wouldn’t ever let on that he knew he was weaker than he used to be, having squared off against his old master’s Kabutops, but this was his chance now. He was going to really test himself here and try to become stronger again, or stronger than he had been even. Any challenge that he could find, he was going to take it, his own drive to make himself stronger pushing him on. He came to a large creek, almost a river with how deep the water seemed to go, and he leaned in to take a drink from the flowing water when there was a flash of pink scales, and a splash of water over his fur. Flareon jumped back and shook his fur, glaring into the water now as he locked eyes with a giant pink fish that glared back, and he was not going to have it. He fired a shadow ball at the fish, striking it head on, but the water type dove back into the water for only a moment before jumping into the air and knocking Flareon back more than a few yards with a powerful torrent of water. Flareon was knocked to the ground and rolled across the grass, his fur soaking wet now and dirt clinging to the water, and while he struggled for only a moment on the ground, he wasn’t going to let a fish get the best of him. He stood and rushed towards the edge of the water as he retaliated with another shadow ball, knocking the fish back into the water, never to be seen again. He stopped to shake his fur every so often, feeling his fur get lighter still, but he knew he would at least need to get brushed out later today with all of the dirt that had gotten in his fur because of the water. He had gone quite a ways from where Emiri and the rest of her Pokemon were, but knew that if Emiri wanted him back, he’d hear her calling. He knew that she trusted him to go out on his own, trusted that he could take care of himself, but he felt like he would just come back a little closer for now, and perhaps wander off in the other direction when he did. The fire type was moving along the grass when he felt a shift in the air around him, his fur starting to prickle at the feeling of static in the air, and he turned just in time to see a Raichu coming up behind him, its cheeks sparking with electricity as it looked at him with daring eyes. Flareon turned, squaring off with the electric type, ready for the battle as there was the sudden crackle of electricity, and he felt the searing hot strike of electricity that hit him, knocking him back a ways at the force of the attack. Flareon stood, but felt his muscles tense and spasm as sparks and streams rushed over his fur, and he found it harder to move as the jolts overcame him. He winced at the feeling of his muscles contracting at the jolts of electricity, but he wasn’t going to let the mouse get the better of him as he used his fire to win the battle against the electric type. He took a hard hit though, stray sparks dancing over his fur with every step that he took, and he made the long hard walk back to where Emiri was to get rid of this electricity. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Beginning to shiver violently, she healed her Pokemon, returned Buizel, and got the hell out of there. She stood stock-still in the sunlight for what seemed like ages. Now she had to test another theory. If she captured a Pokemon here through battle, would they be loyal to her or still dislike her presence? She called him from his new home, and the Piloswine blinked in the sunlight. He knew this place, he didn't like the warmth of it. He then turned to look at Katie. Blinking twice and looking up at her, he watched for some sort of reaction. She decided to hold out a hand. He hesitated, but then leaned forward and allowed her to pet his head. A couple minutes later, she was sitting cross-legged in front of him. She was talking to him and petting him until a blast of water came seemingly out of nowhere and hit Piloswine. At this point, the piggy was seen as an owned Pokemon and liable for their dislike just as Treecko, Buizel, and Rowlet were. She recalled him and booked it as fast as she could. Once safely away, she pressed the nozzle of a Potion to the center of the Pokeball and sprayed, knowing it would be distributed to the Pokemon within. TL;DR

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Walking back to the Pokemon Center, Katie decided this might be her last chance to test the theory. She called out her Pokemon, and a Pokemon which had been watching them jumped into action at once. It ran forward, jumping into the air and slamming it's horn into Buizel. Buizel recoiled, stumbling and falling onto her back, but got back up quickly and used Blizzard. This Nidoran was strong though, pushing through the blizzard and hitting Buizel with the point of it's horn for a second time. Buizel fell over and this time did not move. Treecko made to jump from her shoulder, but she caught him in her hands. Piloswine went forward this time, using that same strange power to levitate any nearby stones and throw them at Nidoran. The wild Pokemon shook them off, slamming his horn twice into the recently captured pig. Just like Buizel, Piloswine fell. This was getting dangerous. Rowlet flew from the sky, but Nidoran expected the attack and jumped into the air, meeting Rowlet mid-air with his horn at the same time Rowlet met with his beak. Katie, knowing that she had to do something before Nidoran stabbed them all into defeat, threw out her only Ultra Ball. It shook, and then sealed. TL;DR

Travelling outward from the Pokemon Center, she decided to let out her new blue Nidoran. Just like Piloswine, it seemed to like her a lot more now that she'd captured him. He did attract wild Pokemon, but very few seemed willing to attack a Pokemon they /knew/ to be at a much higher level. Only those of a higher level actually did venture forward, but it was a Bunnelby that got up the nerve first. The ground shook violently, and Nidoran turned quickly to look. He started to race forward, but the shaking continued and was just too much. Katie, developing an idea, stumbled forward and picked him up. With all her might, she threw him into the air. From there, he could maneuver himself and dive-bomb Bunnelby with a Horn Drill attack. The move was so devastating that Bunnelby did not get back up. She healed the Nidoran, patted him appraisingly, and looked around again.

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Rather than walking along on her own and enduring the stares of all of these wild Pokemon, she decided to call out all of her Pokemon to walk - or fly - alongside her. After walking for a while, Nidoran began to glow in a way she knew meant evolution was at hand. She was /so/ excited to be able to watch this phenomenon happen for the first time. When the light faded, Nidoran had grown larger, into the bulkier Nidorino. Something she remembered a long time ago told her that Nidorino were supposed to be purple, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

The Trainer admitted defeat, and raced off to have his Pokemon healed at the Pokemon Center. Unfortunately, another Pokemon had seen her battle and decided he wanted in on the action. The three-headed Dodrio raced forward on spindly bird legs, but the entire Pokemon was quickly frozen by Buizel and Kira hurriedly lead her Pokemon away before it could thaw itself out.

Thomas Barker had had a very long and rather confusing day. So much had happened, and yet he was sure part of his memory was being kept just out of reach. Was this Lady's doing? He doubted it, the Pokemon had never given him reason to doubt her. Still, he wondered exactly what could have caused the lapse in memory as he walked alongside Lady. She could hear his thoughts, but knew he didn't mean anything by them. They were friends, she could read that on his mind as well. He did trust her, even if he was a bit confused.
Walking for a while brought him in sight of another Trainer. One he vaguely recognized as a Trainer he'd met when he landed here in this Reserve to begin with. The details of the meeting were a bit fuzzy though. He didn't remember the yelling and the argument, nor did he remember the attitude he'd had around her. "Hello." He spoke up when he'd come near enough. "I remember you. How do you like it here?" Again he took in her dark clothes, the strange expression on his face he didn't understand, but this time it was with curiosity rather than annoyance. -Backpack-

She was happy to see that Azuran was still taking charge of Charizard, and her tail for now was back to the ever vibrant flame that she had always admired, so it seemed that she was doing better, and perhaps she would wake up with less sickness than she had been enduring. Blastoise was trudging back over the grass to come back towards the rest of his team, and Ho-Oh was coming back over the grass too on his tall legs. Lynno however was up in the air, having taken to a breeze that was shifting over the fields and wanting to put his wings against it, and the Pidgeot was soaring over head making easy work of the winds in the sky, when something suddenly rushed past him. Lynno threw out his wings with a screech, sitting aloft in the air as he looked around with his sharp eyes, and there it was again, a flash of blue, and then something rushed past him again. Lynno held himself in the air, getting fed up with whatever was disrupting his air space, and in the corner of his eye he saw that flash of blue again and with a quick shift of his wings he gave a few strong pushes towards the ground, whipping up a terribly strong gust, and he caught the flash of blue color as it was thrust towards the ground.
"Woah," cried a voice as something was thrust towards the ground, and the call caught Emiri's attention, as well as that of her Pokemon as they watched something fall out of the sky with Lynno close behind, but before it hit the ground, it stopped in mid air just a few feet above the grass. Emiri moved forward with Flareon close beside her and Blastoise and Ho-Oh moving with her as Lynno came down from the air, taking his preferred landing spot on one of Blastoise's cannons as he glared down at the thing he shot down from the air. There floating a few feet above the ground was a large white and blue Pokemon that Emiri could swear looked like a Raichu, but it was floating? And its tail was really very large as it was sitting on its tail as though it were a bench. The last she had seen a Raichu, they didn't float, didn't have such large tails, or round ears, so what was this strange Pokemon? It looked at them though as they all approached, its large round blue eyes focused on them as it situated and sat on the flat end of its tail, just still floating there in the air as though it were levitating. It looked up to Lynno who leered down from one of Blastoise's cannons, and scratched behind one ear with a soft blue paw.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you up there," he sighed, giving a small smile as Lynno was taken aback by his words, shifting on his makeshift perch.
"Scare me? Please, I don't scare. You just need to watch where you're going," Lynno sneered, tucking in his wings as he stood up straighter and taller to look down on the floating rodent.
"Don't listen to him. He just doesn't like anything that can fly faster than him," Blastoise snickered, earning a sweep of one of Lynno's wings in retaliation. The white furred Pokemon looked at Blastoise quizzically though at his comment.
"Flying? I can't fly? Not like he can, you're really good at flying though," he commented, looking back up to Lynno who was trying to refuse the compliment, but the rest of them only looked at the strange Pokemon, looking at the gap between him and the ground.
"You're not touching the ground though? If you can't fly, if you're not a flying type, then what are you? Are you levitating or something," Flareon asked in return. The Pokemon looked down at his feet, then past them to the soft green grass that he hovered over, kicking his long paws as he sat on his tail.
"Well yeah, but that's not flying? I can levitate, just not fly because I don't have wings like they do," he replied, looking back at Emiri with a small twitch of his nose, looking to Lynno and Ho-Oh who stood in front of him with Emiri.
"So you're a psychic type? If you can levitate, you have to have psychic abilities," Emiri questioned, trying to understand just what it was that she was interacting with. She didn't notice until she'd mentioned levitating that she could hear him like she heard Cronus, like she heard Josette or Angelique, it was sentient in her mind, not physical just like a psychic type.
"I guess so? I mean, yeah, I am, but no one's ever asked me that before? Or I guess, no one's really asked me anything before, I've seen humans sure and lived around them on the island where I'm from, but I've never talked with a human like this," he spoke with a tilt of his head, and with his answer Emiri just couldn't believe it, that there was some variation of a psychic type Raichu that existed in the world, and she hadn't known about it. She knew there were things out there she still hadn't seen, Pokemon she had never heard of, like Dylon's Incineroar and Salazzle, but it just baffled her, and forever humbled her to know that there were still things in this world that she didn't know even with everything that she had already seen.
"Emiri is a very good human. I've been with her since I was even younger. She takes very good care of all of us, and is even a strong human trainer," Ho-Oh chimed in.
"A strong human trainer? You all like to battle," he asked, his ears quirking at just the mention of battling.
"That's what we came out here to do, for practice," Emiri answered.
"Can I battle you? I like battling, it's a lot of fun, but I haven't been able to battle something really strong in a long time, not since I left the island that I lived on," he inquired with a sort of sparkle in his eyes, and Emiri couldn't help but smile at the odd Pokemon. He was very nice, and she couldn't deny that he was also kind of cute, whatever it was that he was.
"If we battle him, does that means he's going to come with us Emiri," Ho-Oh asked, looking down to the young girl.
"Come with you? You mean like you guys, how you go with this human girl," he asked, though Emiri had stammered on the question. It had been such a long time since she had had a new addition to their team, she just never wanted to bring anything else into any sort of danger, and there was never a right time for her to get to know any other Pokemon until recently.
"Only if you would want to, I wouldn't force you to come with us, but I'm sure we would become good friends. You're very nice," Emiri replied after a moment, not wanting to scare him or upset him by mentioning any kind of capture. He thought over Emiri's words for a moment, and the psychic part of his abilities couldn't help but reach out to the human he was interacting with, being able to feel her sense of self and her good heart, it was hard to ignore.
"How about, if you win the battle fair and square, I'll come with you? You're nice too, not like some other humans. I've been traveling for a while now, but I don't know where I'm going. It would be nice to belong somewhere," he answered, hopping up into the air as he poised himself on his paws, balancing just right on his tail as though he were surfing on it. Emiri smiled, looking back to Blastoise whom she wanted to take the battle, and he brushed Lynno off of his cannon as he stepped forward, ready to take on the friendly battle.

Emiri really admired his fighting spirit and the way that he conducted himself in battle, and she really enjoyed the battle against him. Blastoise gave one more good earthquake attack before the Raichu couldn’t keep it up, giving in to the battle and laying down on his tail as he floated over the ground with a sigh.
”Okay, I give, you guys are really good,” he chuckled, turning over and laying down flat on his back over his tail. Blastoise retracted his cannons back into his shell as he stood up straighter after having claimed victory, looking down to the rodent who had put up a good fight.
”You put up a good fight too, I think you just might fit in with us,” Blastoise replied with a smile, having enjoyed the battle and the tenacity that the strange psychic type had shown in the challenge.
”Yeah, a deal is a deal I guess, huh? Just give me a second to recoop,” he sighed, though his tone was still light and friendly like it had been beforehand, he really was genuine about coming with them now that he had been defeated. Emiri however, now knowing that he was in fact very genuine and serious about coming with them hesitated to say anything on the matter as she looked down at the ground, shuffling her feet a bit. It had been such a long time since she had brought in a new teammate, not since Flix saved her life and Flareon came to their rescue. They were never safe, there was never a good time for them to introduce someone else to their lifestyle, and she wasn’t really sure that she actually wanted to bring someone else into the danger that followed them. She would feel terrible if something happened to the Raichu, something that he wasn’t prepared for, it would be her fault for bringing him into their perils, and she just couldn’t bear the thought. The Raichu was still laying back on his tail to catch his breath after the battle, but he couldn’t help but feel the conflict that was swirling around Emiri as his round blue eyes turned to focus on her.
”Hey, what’s the matter? You guys won the battle fair and square, that means I get to come with you,” he asked in concern.
Out in the fields, Flareon had wandered off again after taking a short rest from being paralyzed to try and get in a little bit more of a work out. The sun was going to start setting soon, and he knew they might call it a night eventually, so he wanted to take any time that he could get, not knowing how long they were going to stay in this place. He came across a Ferroseed through a thick brush that challenged a battle, and Flareon took the steel type in retaliation to secure a victory for himself. She had been so happy and friendly towards him, and he could still feel her good energy and the love she had for the Pokemon who spoke so kindly about her, so what had happened?
Standing there in front of the Raichu, Emiri just couldn’t help it. She knew she had a hard time keeping a cap on her emotions and her mental thoughts, but she didn’t know either that he was that powerful of a psychic type that he would be able to tell her feelings. She couldn’t feel him prodding though, and knew Zaron would keep anything out that wasn’t supposed to be there, so she had that notion of security to hold on to. He didn’t seem like one to pry or use his abilities without fore thought, much unlike some psychic types that she had met in the past, it would just be something that she would have to be mindful of until she got to know him more and trust him like she did Zaron, if he even still came with them in the first place.
”Nothing’s the matter really, at least not with you. It’s just, a lot of stuff happens to us, and I think Emiri is worried about what could happen to you,” Blastoise commented, watching Ho-Oh go off as he got distracted by a Lickitung moving in the distance as he started up a battle with the normal type. The Chikorita from Skylars shoulder jumped down soon engaging the enemy. The Pancham saw the attack coming and landing a fierce karate chop on chikorita it fainted instantly, Espeon came next to get revenge for its fallen friend. The pancham used tackle knocking espeon back before long it launched a shadow ball causing a massive hit on pancham. In a fit of rage it unleashes a fury of comet punches sending Espeon into a tree knocking it out, Ponyta galloped up to take the lead and jumped up using a body slam knocking out the Pancham. Skylar picked the two fallen pokemon up and reached into his backpack. He pulled two revives out feeding them to the two pokemon giving them that boost they need to get up and soon healing them with the potions he had. He kept a close eye, just making sure that the Pokemon had been captured, not wanting to repeat the battle if it decided to come back for a second wave, but now there begged the question, what were they going to do with it? Skylar had gotten into a battle with a Pancham and Valor had gone off for a battle against a Conkeldurr as Wattson looked to Rhienne who stood with Nara and Balto, glancing back to the pokeball once more.
"What are we supposed to do with that thing? You've captured it now, and if we release it, there's no telling if it will come back," Wattson breathed, leaning on his elbows on his knees as he took a moment to rest. Rhienne looked at Wattson at his question, and in the moment of battle and trying to get the thing under control, she hadn't quite thought about what they were to do with it after the fact. She was just trying to get rid of it and didn't quite think about the aftermath. She couldn't deny though that she found the Pokemon interesting. She had never seen anything like it, or really what she could see of it, and had no idea what it was capable of. It was powerful, being able to take Wattson in battle like it had, and had such an uncanny ability to cloak its scales and the speed that it had with the shape of its body.
"I'm not sure right now. Once it's had time to recuperate, and maybe calm down, we can try to reason with it. I can imagine it has the potential to be a very prominent addition to our team," Rhienne replied, though Wattson was less than amused with her answer as he coughed for only a moment.
"You can't be serious? What do we even need 'an addition to our team' for? You've said yourself that we're not avid battlers, you don't have any ambition for continuing to gain gym badges, I'm not even still entirely sure why we're out here in the first place," Wattson leered, unsure of how Rhienne could even consider bringing on something to their team that they had no idea about, and why she would even consider it as though they were still working on the gym badges in the Johto region. Rhienne glared back at Wattson though, her purple eyes sharp behind her glasses. But she didn't have an answer, as much as she wanted to have one, she didn't know why they were at the reserve, didn't know why she agreed to take Skylar here, didn't know why she had gone to challenge Pryce, she didn't know why she was doing anything any more and she certainly didn't know what she was doing any more.
"You know what Wattson? I don't have an answer, I don't always have the answers. I don't know what we're doing out here, what we're going to do when we leave, but I'm trying to figure something out. Would you rather just be sitting around Mahogany Town for another month? At least we're out here doing something, we're helping a new trainer try to figure out how to function in this competitive world, but beyond that, you're going to have to give me some time to figure that out, okay," Rhienne returned sharply, and Wattson listened to her, having never quite thought of it before that she was the only one trying to think of what to do or where to go next, and that if she didn't have any ideas, then there wasn't much for them to be doing. He knew she was feeling lost, and had a lot more to figure out than just what to do next as he took a glance to the purple jeweled ring that was on her finger. He digressed, and looked out to the field as Skylar had finished his battle with the Pancham, and Rhienne looked too to make sure he was doing alright after the battle. He found a steady creek eventually, taking care to make sure he knew where Emiri and the rest of his team were, but dipping a claw into the water, he found himself in a battle with a golden Gorebyss that rushed at him through the water, starting a battle.
The Raichu looked from Blastoise to Emiri as the turtle had walked off slowly, sitting up on his tail as he had been laying down on his back. He was concerned now, looking to Emiri whom still harbored so much pain and negativity, it was almost clouding the good force that he could feel from her, the big heart that he knew was there.

I mean, yeah, stuff happens, but what could you be so worried about," the Raichu asked, though he was gentle in his approach and Emiri could almost feel his genuine concern, his abilities just there on the surface of her thoughts and feelings. Emiri looked up at him then as he sat there on his tail, his long feet swinging absent mindedly while he looked at her with soft blue eyes, and she sighed as her shoulders sunk at the question.
"I just wouldn't want you to get hurt if you came with us... We've had a lot of... Trouble in the past, and there's no telling if it's over or if there would be new trouble. We haven't had someone new come with us in a really long time, I would feel so terrible if something bad happened to you if you came with us," Emiri answered quietly, unsure of how else to really put it, and she certainly didn't want to start telling the stories of all of her perils that she and her Pokemon had faced thus far. She couldn't even think any more of why she had started traveling in the first place, why she had left home and wanted to go out into the world in the first place. All she remembered was meeting Mika, and he wanted to try his hand at becoming a trainer, leaving his famed life behind, and so they had started challenging the gyms together. Now that Mika was gone, her drive to challenge the gym leaders was gone, she didn't even care that she only had one badge left to finisht he Johto League because what was the point? It's not as though she had any chance of challenging the Elite Four and becoming a Champion, nor did she have any desire to. She needed to remember why she left home at all, what made her want to go out into this world from the sanctuary of her home in Ecruteak, but her thoughts were drawn from her as she heard foot steps moving towards them, and they weren't from Skylar since they were coming from the opposite direction. Rhienne didn't have to be a psychic at all to know that she was familiar with the presence already, and turning with a sharp glare behind her glasses, she saw the boy who had yelled so fervently at her earlier that day, insulting her very capabilities as a trainer for the psychic type Pokemon that she was so prominent with. She glanced to the Gardevoir that walked beside him, and while she rolled her eyes at the pretty excuse for a psychic type, she felt bad for Wattson as she could feel his feelings sink just a little. It had been a while now since he had gotten to see Midori, Mika's Gardevoir that was essentially the fighting type's girlfriend, and she knew that Wattson missed her very much. However, looking at the boy as he came nearer still, Rhienne could tell already that there was just something off about him, that something wasn't quite right with his mindset, especially as he regarded her with almost kindness, and a sort of curiosity rather than the blatant aggression he had shown earlier. Did he think she was dumb, that she wouldn't remember how he'd yelled at her and insulted her Pokemon? It was like he was looking at her and meeting her again for the first time, and Rhienne wasn't going to have it.
"How do I like it here? You can really walk up to me and act like you didn't yell at me and insult my Pokemon and think that there wouldn't still be repercussions for your actions," Rhienne leered, glaring at the boy with her sharp purple eyes behind her glasses, and feeling Rhienne's spike in hostility Nara came closer to her as she stood at her full height, the large black tiger looking down on the boy and the Gardevoir that stood next to him with her sharp red eyes.
Off in the distance, Valor had started to wander again as the dragon slithered along the ground, and found a battle with a small grass type that was certainly stronger than it looked as he tried to fight it off with his fire. The dog was wandering, and was coming closer to a thicket of trees, when a loud buzzing sound caught his attention. From above, through the branches, a Herracross was buzzing down at him with its open shell and wings to take on a challenger, and Flareon was happy to oblige as he took the first blow by the bug type, retaliating with his fire.
The psychic type listened carefully to what Emiri had explained, staying quiet for the brief time that Emiri took to speak, and he could feel that she was really very concerned for him despite having only just met him. She had such a big heart, he could definitely tell that now with how she was already concerned for his well being, and it was comforting to know that someone cared so much with so little. It wasn't that she didn't want him to come along, or that she didn't like him, she was really concerned with his safety and that she didn't want him to get hurt.
"You really care a lot about your friends, and you only want to make sure that everyone stays safe, don't you," he asked after a moment, floating still on the ground as he moved closer to Emiri looking at her carefully. Emiri looked at him and then to her Pokemon that were roaming around the area they were using for training, her heart swelling at the thought of anything bad happening to them and wanting them all to just stay safe.
"We've been through a lot... Things I never thought were possible, I don't want you to have to carry the weight that we do, you can still be free to live a good life," Emiri replied solemnly, and she could feel Zaron there helping to ebb the worst of her memories away from the surface of her thoughts, having wanted to keep her happy and calm in this time that they've had free to themselves. He was padding along the ground, listening for anything that might try to challenge for a battle, but he couldn't help but stop at the smell of something almost intoxicatingly sweet wafting through the air. It was just as the Aromatisse had wanted, luring in victims for a challenge by the scent that came from its feathers, and Flareon took the battle gladly as he used his fire to start off.
Sitting there on his tail in front of the human girl that he had found himself in company with, the Raichu couldn't help but feel like he belonged with this girl now even more than he thought after having been defeated in battle. Sure, he had a free life, could travel where ever he wanted and do whatever he pleased, free to see the world and explore everything that he could. He couldn't help but always feel like he wanted a purpose though, a reason for the things he did in his life, wanting aspirations and goals and destinations with meaning and reason. Being a part of a team, being a part of what looked like was a family with how close these Pokemon seemed to be linked together, it appealed to him on such an emotional level that he couldn't help but want to come with them.
"You guys have a good life? You have a family and others who care so much about each other and would do anything to take care of each other," he answered with a small smile.
"I might not be a strong psychic type, but I can feel that you all are very close, and would do anything for each other. I think that's stronger than any of the trouble you might have," he continued, and Emiri looked at him at his words, unable to ignore what he was saying. They fought together through everything, no matter what trouble or horrible things they came across. She couldn't help but think that each peril they faced might be their last, getting knocked down so far and wondering if its worth the climb back up to the light, but they made it out somehow each time, and they made it out together. It was always something that she could never quite figure out, if it was luck, or fate, or whatever one could call it that they made it out, but she never really considered until recently that it was because of their drive and their sheer force to stay together that they made it out of each danger they faced.
"You would give up your safe life? I couldn't ask you to do that, especially if you knew what we have been through," Emiri said finally, not wanting to drag another life into their mess, to ruin someone's chance at living happily. The Raichu was quiet for a moment, and Emiri could tell that he was contemplating the possibility, what his future could be like if he chose to go with them. He still didn't seem scared though, or upset that Emiri was trying to turn him away, he was just happy and genuine.
"My safe life, I don't have anything to do in my safe life, I don't have any purpose or reason? I want to go places and do things with a reason, and having a family, through good or bad things, I think that would be the best way to do it," the Raichu spoke after a moment, his eyes soft and his voice quiet, but Emiri could feel the care that he had for all of the thoughts he was giving her.
Off in the thicket of trees, Flareon was doing better after having fought that Raichu in the fields and continuing to test his mettle to get the most out of being out in this place, and he got in a battle with a small Pidove to keep moving through the trees, knowing though soon that he would have to turn and head back towards Emiri and the other Pokemon.
