Kira knew that it would take some time to think of a plan for beating Misty, her Water-Type Pokemon were supposedly pretty tough. She knew that she stood a fighting chance though, with her friend Pikachu along for the ride. Watching Teddy and Drifloon make amends, she couldn't help but smile at the pair. They made an odd companionship, but it seemed they were on the same page now. Their Pikachu both stuck together, giving Kira the impression that they had known each other within the Forest.
Kira was interested to learn that he still had to challenge Brock, and definitely planned to stick around and watch... if the Gym Leader allowed it. The refreshing wind hit Kira's face, but caused Drifloon to struggle in keeping up. She recalled the balloon in a stream of glowing red energy before shrinking and pocketing it's Pokeball. "My fire keeps me warm, and keeps my Trainer warm." Charmander nodded to Squirtle as they left the Center, smiling as she had finished the multiple pieces of candy.
The Pidgey chose a poor time to make it's appearance, fluttering down just as the Ekans initiated it's attack. Kira thought at first that the bird was attacking the snake, but it seemed to take the opportunity to defend the wild Ekans. Kira stepped forward as well, after seeing his fearful expression of the snake. "We'll deal with the Pidgey, Charmander and I." She grinned. "Ready Charmander?" The fire Pokemon nodded and stepped forward. "Good. Then use Ember!"
The Fire-Type planted it's feet firmly, sending a blast of super-heated embers at the bird (-30: 60/90). No fire erupted around the small bird, so Kira assumed it had failed to cause a burn. Pidgey seemed surprised to be facing the female Trainer, as it had flown down to attack the male. Caught so off guard, it used a less powerful Tackle instead of it's Gust (-20: 100/120).
Suddenly the game had changed. She had successfully distracted the bird from it's original target. The single attack of the balloon had already dispatched the snake. Still the bird stood. "Don't worry, we can handle this." She essentially said she didn't want him to interfere. "Ember, again!" This time, the Pokemon felt the burn even after the attack (-40: 20/90). Pidgey was thinking with a clearer head now, and used it's wings to whip up a Gust at Charmander, which threatened the flame on it's tail (-30: 70/120).
"One more time, Charmander! Use Ember!" The final burst of burning embers that hit the Pidgey did the trick, and the bird fainted. "Good job, Charmander!" She called out, fishing in her bag for enough Potion to fully restore her Pokemon (-40: 0/90).

Apollo and Teddy's mouth hung open at the sudden blast and it's effect. But Squirtle was quick to respond. "That was awesome!" he said having missed it the first time. The Driftloon floated back with some difficulty in the wind and grabbed onto Apollo's pack with his one arm. "I learned a few tricks with bombs and surprises while I was alive." he spoke in his light airy voice. Squirtle was about to question, but felt it fairly rude. Teddy was to focused on the battle in front of him, between the Charmander and Pidgey. She told him to stay out of it, so he stepped back and raised his hands letting her know he wont, and smiled at her. He watched as she finished out the battle. it was a good battle, and it was over fairly quick. Once it was over though, a gift basket appeared next to him, causing him to jump. He looked it and saw a note taped to it, causing him to lean down and look at it. He pulled it off, and looked it over."I think Geoffrey said he found you, but if you're not Apollo send this back to Unova!

You're so far away now I didn't know if any of the same stuff here would exist, so I sent you some snacks from our favorite candy store, and I asked for honey for teddy too! And you're going to have so much stuff to write about it would be so bad if you ran out of paper so I sent you a new notepad! And rainbow pens too!
And then I don't know if it's cold all the way there or not, but I made a scarf lady Lola taught me to make!

-Iradessa" Apollo was smiling and laughed. He missed his friend Iradessa, and he knew he would have to call her and update her so far. He put his new items into his pack and looked at the Pokeball. "Oh Teddy, This is from Iradessa. She didn't forget you, she got you something too, but I'll give it to you later." he told him, which made Teddy's eyes light up.. He loved that she would do that for him. He was glad she had Geoffrey, her Girafarig, so she could psychically send him stuff. He looked over to Kira and their Pokemon. "My best friend sent this to me with one of her Psychic Pokemon." he explained to her. He thought for a moment, and began to return his Pokemon. All but Teddy. He began to walk again. "You know... I think I'm ready for Brock." he told her. and began to walk towards the Gym. "Wanna come see me destroy him?"
It wasn't too far from the Pokecenter, so he was there in no time. He set down Teddy to push open the doors. He walked into the Gym and looked around, and scrunched his face up. It was just one big rock... Teddy was definitely not going to battle in this place. He walked more into Gym, looking more disgusted as he went, Teddy close behind. Soon Liam the Gym trainer popped up, seemingly out of no where. "If you're here to challenge Brock you have to beat me first!" she exclaimed, which made Apollo's eyes widen. "Okay, simmer down kid, I'll battle you." he told him with wide eyes. Liam let out his Sandshrew on the other side of the field. Come on, start the battle. He can take on that little bear of yours." Liam told him, which made both Apollo's and Teddy's eyebrows frown. Apollo thought for a second and smiled. "Oh hush up. I'm going to trust my best friend's timing and use the Pokemon she gave me." he told him, and pulled out a Pokemon, and let her own. A light lit up the area, and soon a pink and white fish appears standing up on the ground. Her eyes went wide as she flapped her long fins as she looked around, a bit immobile. "Oh shit... We gotta make this fast! Thank you Iradessa!" he called out. But Liam sprung into action. "Sandshrew use Scratch!" he called out and his Pokemon rolled over and began to scratch her hard before retreating. She let out a cry of pain as she flopped backwards. "You're okay! Use water gun on him and then coat yourself with it!" he called out as she opened her mouth and began to spray him with water. Soon after she sprayed it above herself cleaning herself off and revitalizing herself. Liam was quick to respond with another Scratch. "Quick! Use water gun one more time!" he called out and she sprayed him once more. finishing him off. She returned her Pokemon as well, all but Lucy. Together, they began towards the Gym.
Kira was stopped suddenly, just prior to entering the Gym with her new friend. She nodded to Apollo, signalling that he could go in and that she'd be in shortly. He was a fresh-new Trainer, demanding a battle from her. "I... uh... I am watching my friend battle Brock. When he wins, I'll be back to battle you." She replied, looking him up and down. He hadn't seen her Pokemon line-up, so they were curious what Pokemon the other had.
He paused for a moment, clearly not expecting to be turned down. "No worries, Man! I'll wait here and get in some training!" He seemed to be okay with the delay, so she entered the Gym behind her friend. By the time she had caught up, he was just putting the finishing touches on his battle with Liam. She grinned at the Gym Trainer as he realized he had lost to a second Trainer in almost as many days, and she knew he would recognize her.
Quickly, she climbed the platform at Apollo's end, standing just behind and to the side of him. As she was entering, he was recalling his Pokemon so she hadn't the chance to see the new Pokemon. "How did Squirtle do?" She asked him, just loud enough for Apollo to hear and Liam to not overhear.

Apollo beamed at Liam as he returned his Pokemon, and Teddy stuck his tongue out at the teen. "Fine you beat me." he said, defeated for the second time in the same week. He began to climb down the platform. "Yeah! We beat the crap out of you. You go get that hot piece of Gym leader!" he counter the rude Gym trainer. While Apollo didn't find Brock was one of the more attractive famous people, he was just hot enough for him. Soon Kira joined him on the Platform and asked about his battle. "Actually, I just used the Pokemon my friend sent me. You'll be able to see her in a sec when I battle Brock. She is gorgeous!" he told her while Liam got Brock. "It kinda sucks for her though... You might get to see." he told her. Soon enough, Brock began to take the field. "Good to see you again, and I'm looking forward to our battle. Though, you know I'm not gonna go easy on you because you have an audience." he told Apollo, and greeted Kira. Apollo gave him a wide smile. "You can take it hard on me all you want." he retorted. Brock cleared his throat and seemed to ignore Apollo's comment as he let out his Geodude. Apollo let out Squirtle, who looked around and then to the big rock. "Geodude, use Magnitude!" Brock called out quickly, starting the battle. Apollo gasped and grabbed onto the Platform, fearing the earthquake might throw him off. The Geodude began to pound the ground, causing Squirtle to stumble as he was suddenly hit with a small stump of a rock that jet out of the ground. Though Apollo was surprised that the attack didn't effect the platforms. "Squirtle!" He called out, as he watched his starter get knocked backwards, and rolled a little ways once inside his shell. He slowly came out, stumbling at how dizzy he was, but appeared fine. "Use Iron tail!" he called out as Squirtle shrank back into his shell, and began to spin with his tail sticking out. Suddenly he tore across the field, and hit one of the craters and lunched himself at the Geodude. The tail slammed into the Pokemon, sending him sailing into the platform holding Brock, who was now watching actually wide eyed. "Well then.." he spoke shocked, returning his Pokemon. "Looks like I'll I've to bring out the bigger guns." he said with a grin. Apollo was beaming, but Teddy was watching with his mouth gaping open. Brock let out his Onix who let out a mighty roar. Apollo's eyes widened as it's huge size, his y smile gone. Teddy let out a cry and began to hide behind Apollo's and Kira's legs. While Squirtle suddenly withdrew into his shell. "Squirtle! Use Iron tail!" Apollo called out, but Squirtle didn't move. Brock took that opportunity to use rock throw, and the Onix slammed his tail into a ridge of Rock, and showered the Squirtle. Apollo quickly returned his Squirtle, and let out Bella. Brock was quick to react again. He used Rock Tomb and showered Bella with Rocks, almost burying her completely. "Bella, quick, spray your way out, and use Attract!" he called out and Bella began to spray all of the rocks off of her, and created a nice mist around herself as she sent out her pheromones for Attract, infatuating Onix. "Onix! Quick Use Rock Tomb!" he called out fearing for his Rock Snake, hoping to get the attack in before it effected, but the Onix went to attack, but stopped, and merely gazed lovingly at the fish. "Yes! It pays to be beautiful! Use Water gun!" Apollo called out, and she began to spray a torrent of water at the snake, causing him to cringe away. Brock grit his teeth. "Onix. let try and at least build up your defense. use Harden!" he called out, and the spray of water seemed to wake him up a bit as he began to coil together. "That won't help Brocky! Use Water Gun again!" he called out with a smile. Hopping that would end the battle. And just as he wished, the water hit the rocky snake, causing him to fall back. This time Brock returned him quickly, and smiled. He began down the platform and began across the field. Apollo returned Bella, and picked up Teddy and set him on his pack. He began to climb down the latter to meet Brock to receive his rewards. "You're a tough cookie like she is, you really earned these." he told Apollo, and handed him his rewards. He collected them and thanked Brock turning back to Kira, and Jumped in excitement, while teddy struggled to hold on. Kira nodded kindly to Brock's greeting, grinning as she saw the familiar Geodude. When Geodude began to use Magnitude, she had been expecting it. She didn't panic like Apollo seemed to, she knew that the platform would prevent them feeling the effects.
She had expected his Squirtle to beat the smaller Geodude, but stared in shock at the powerful attack from Squirtle's tail. She would have to keep an eye on that effective attack, if they were ever to battle. Brock revealed his Onix, and Kira was once again struck with a strong urge to own one of her own. Apollo's next Pokemon really was breathtaking, such a beautiful fish. "Whoa.." She muttered, pointing her Pokedex at the fish and listening to it's entry.
The battle finished shortly after, and she followed Apollo from the stand. She watched the Leader give Apollo the same gifts, and waved farewell while she struggled to keep up with Apollo as he ran off.
Once back in the fresh air, she gazed skyward to the fading sunlight. True to his word, the challenging Trainer was still there waiting patiently for her. This time, he had his Pokemon standing at his side. A Bulbasaur, that stood firm and called it's challenge.
"Bulbasaur, huh?" Kira gave a small grin as she pulled out Charmander's Pokeball, tossing it high into the air. It unleashed the same red energy that solidified into the Fire-Type Pokemon, Charmander. The Trainer's confidence seemed to deflate a bit as he saw the challenge they now faced.

"Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip!" The thick vines appeared from the Bulbasaur's bulb, stretching the distance between them and slapping the Charmander hard enough across the face to take her off of her feet (-15: 105/120). Charmander, defiantly and angrily, rose to it's feet and used Ember before Kira could call out an attack. The Ember scorched back across the battle-field, hitting the Bulbasaur in the face (-60: 110/170).
Bulbasaur's Trainer realized the folly of his first attack, remembering that Grass-Type moves wouldn't do much damage. "Alright Bulbasaur, this time use Tackle!" He called, and the Bulbasaur ran forward. The two bodies collided, and Charmander nearly fell over yet again (-20: 85/120)
"Alright, Charmander. We haven't lost yet. Use Ember again!" The Pokemon steadied itself, sending another shot of Ember at the Bulbasaur (-60: 50/170). Bulbasaur stumbled, using their close range to use Tackle one more time (-20: 65/120).
"We won't quit until the end!" The Grass-Type Trainer called out, a look of determination on his face. "Use Tackle again!" The Bulbasaur launched itself into the air towards Charmander, but Charmander sent one final Ember that hit the Bulbasaur mid-air, who fell to the ground unconscious (-60: 0/170).
"It was a good battle, but you're going to need to train a lot harder if you want to beat a Fire-Type with a Grass-Type." She smiled, not unkindly, at the wandering Trainer.
"Thank you for the battle. I would like you to have this." He approached her, holding out his hand. In it rested a blue stone, similar in size and shape to her Thunder Stone. "It's a Water Stone, and you've earned it." He smiled at her, insisting that she accept the gift.

Kira had stayed around long enough to watch Apollo battle the Pewter City Gym Leader, Brock. She knew that he would need to visit the Pokemon Center, and she would use that time to say goodbye to her family. Her Mother wasn't happy about her leaving so soon, but her Father was very proud. "Calm down, Betty." He chuckled, watching his Wife worry too much; as usual. "She's going to go far, she's already beaten Team Rocket, and twice at that!" He grinned at his Daughter now. "And she saved our Fossil-butts." This time he laughed at his own joke, before spooning another bite of peas into his mouth.
"Gerald, I just don't think she's ready." She pursed her lips and stared unhappily at them both.
Nearly choking on his peas, he stared his wife down. "Nonsense, she beat Brock on her first try!" He exclaimed. They had been through this already, and he thought they had come to an agreement. "She's going, and that's that."
Her Mother huffed indignantly. She disappeared into the kitchen, probably to make food for Kira to take along. She may not have been happy about it, but she was going to make sure her Daughter was prepared. Kira and her Father didn't make eye contact, he continued eating his dinner, and she shifted awkwardly from one foot to the other.
Shortly after, her Mother returned with a large bag of food. "I threw in baggies of Pokemon food as well." She handed over the food, and pulled Kira into a big hug. "And when you reach each Pokemon Center, I can send you more food that way."
Kira nodded, smiling. "If we want to get to the cave before dark, we must leave now." Lucy's feminine tones entered Kira's mind again.
"It's been a while since I heard your voice, I thought you were pouting." She grinned down at Riolu.
Riolu looked down at it's feet awkwardly. "Of course not, I've just had a lot to think about."

Apollo was beyond ecstatic. With a grin from ear to ear he continued to make his way to the Pokecenter quickly. He was full of energy and excitement from beating Brock. "Thank you again, for this. I heard he was weak to Fighting-Type Pokemon so I went out and found a whole family of Mankey and even... well, I caught them close to here." He seemed as though he'd almost given something away. Perhaps he wanted to have a surprise for Julian in this battle. Even though he had not had any intention of getting into another Trainer battle so soon, he found himself getting into it. Maybe he was more built for battle than he had thought a couple days ago. After all, he had collected seven Gym Badges and that was no easy feat. Those weren't just handed to him, and many Trainers quit long before he did.
So, as expected, the boy sent out a Mankey. Julian, for some reason expecting himself to still have Noctowl's Pokeball, came away instead with the Pokeball that had taken it's place and who contained Mantine. The Water-Type Pokemon wasn't meant to stay out on dry land for long, so Julian and Mantine had to act fast. Mankey got in the first hit but a Surf swept over it soon after and Mankey was washed away back to it's Trainer to be returned. Julian smiled, though not in a mean way.
The kid sent out another Mankey, and just like before a surf ended it quickly. Sure Mankey had gotten in a Scratch, obviously hoping to knock Mantine out before it could actually use the attack, but Mantine had toughed it out just like Julian knew she would. This time, however, Julian returned Mantine at the same time as the kid returned his Mankey. The boy seemed anxious, as though he really wanted to do something drastic, but was holding off until the last moment... not unlike Julian with Zekrom.
A third Mankey appeared quickly followed by Julian's Bulbasaur. He had caught the little bulb Pokemon back in Alto Mare, the floating City in which he had caught Zekrom. He had saved the Pokemon (even though he hadn't been aware they were only being sent to the farm Liz had grown up on) by catching her before she could vanish like the rest of her group. So they were pretty close. Bulbasaur knew the best strategy was to Leech Seed her enemy and then attack while also regaining health. This worked, but even losing health the Mankey nearly knocked Bulbasaur out.
Julian returned her just in time and Koffing entered the fray. Koffing made short work of the Mankey by covering it in toxic sludge. The Mankey was returned and the kid looked at his final Pokeball. "You may have beat my Mankey army, but good luck beating my Ace!" He sent out the Pokemon, and a Primeape punched his fist into his open glove-like hand. Julian looked unimpressed, which disheartened the boy. He had seen far worse. Koffing wasn't so impressed either, having come from a literal hellscape that was Darkrai's Enigmatic Tower.
There was a brief pause as the Pokemon and Trainers both sized each other up. Then, as though a gunshot had gone off, the battle was on for both sides. Koffing took every hit Primeape was able to dish out, and those punches looked like they really hurt too. Koffing filled the air with a thick black smoke, obscuring vision, and then Sludge attacked Primeape twice from behind. The smoke cleared and Primeape stood as angry and defiant as ever, but then it wobbled and fell forward. TL;DR

Bulbasaur made the first move. Small seeds launched from the bulb on his back and struck the ground around Sandshrew. They began to sprout and grow immediately. In seconds, Sandshrew was wrapped up tight by the plants that were now supposed to sap it's strength. That didn't work though. "Sandshrew, Rapid Spin!" Apparently they were well used to Bulbasaurs coming through here, because Sandshrew rolled up and spun rapidly, ripping the vines to shreds in the process. "Go!" And like a spinning rocket, Sandshrew launched itself right at Bulbasaur and made contact.
Bulbasaur skidded back, bearing her feet into the ground and slowly the Sandshrew was stopped from pushing Bulbasaur out of the battlefield. Vines rose from the sides of Bulbasaur's bulb and wrapped around Sandshrew. The little mole was raised into the air and then thrown right across the ring and back to the young Gym Trainer. "Well, that's all for me." He scowled as he returned his Pokemon. "Brock's ahead, but he's way stronger than me. Bulbasaurs don't stand a chance." TL;DR

When Julian got to the battlefield in which Brock was, he realized that he had just walked in on someone else's Gym Battle. The way Brock and his Opponent were dueling was unusual for him. Brock seemed to be helping the kid learn, but he wasn't going easy on him. That surprised him. Apparently he just wanted to see young Trainers better themselves. Julian admired him for that. He took a seat and watched the Geodude lift a stone larger than itself and throw it. The enemy Rattata jumped, landed on top of the flying boulder, and used it to jump high over Geodude. It fell on and bit the stone-like Pokemon. Interesting tactic, using their environment to their advantage like that. For so long Julian had relied on brute strength and type advantage. While he sat, waiting, watching, he healed Bulbasaur who was sitting on his lap watching as well. Umbreon and Espeon had curled up on the ground with their heads on their paws, but they still watched what was happening as well. They were always alert, ready to jump in to defend their Trainer.

Geodude fought valiantly but Squirtle's bubbles were just too powerful for the weaker Pokemon. That was good, Geodude shouldn't be too difficult. He was planning his victory and suddenly his mind froze as the titanic rock-snake that was Onix emerged. Squirtle ran and jumped over Onix's swiping tail, then used Bubble right into Onix's face. It roared in pain and then slammed it's horned head into the airborne Squirtle. The turtle hid in it's shell to protect it as it flew into the wall and then to the ground below. When it emerged again, it swayed on the spot trying to get it's bearings back.
Julian was hooked. This was fun for him, getting to spectate the fight rather than do the fighting himself. Not many people who had not been Trainers knew this, but fighting was just as exhausting for the Trainer as for the Pokemon. The constant stress, the planning, being forced to think on your feet. Julian had it easy on that part, his Pokemon reacted for themselves, which took a bit of the weight from his shoulders. For the most part, they had proven themselves capable of winning under their own steam. Onix dug into the ground, vanishing from sight. Squirtle was looking around for it. Suddenly, Onix emerged from behind Squirtle and slammed it's tail right down on top of the Squirtle. BACKPACK

There was no way Julian expected the first Gym Leader of the Region to have something so powerful as that Onix. He had to think of a strategy quickly, because it would soon be his turn. Brock gave the kid some last minute advice before sending him on his way, and then Julian walked down from where he'd been sitting with his Pokemon. His own Rock-Types were on his left, while Umbreon and Espeon remained where he had been seated. They would not be battling, and Brock was not really a threat, so they would allow themselves to watch from a distance. BACKPACK

He looked down at Larvitar, and the Pokemon raced forward to bite the Geodude. Geodude cried out in pain and Larvitar bit down harder. The enemy tried to shake Larvitar off, so Larvitar released him and dodged a punch, only to bite down on the attacking arm. Yanking it's head back, Larvitar rag-dolled Geodude into the air and then slammed it to the ground. When that had finished, Julian's Pokemon backed away and Brock was forced to return Geodude. It was 1-1 now which was good for keeping up the moral of Julian's team.
Larvitar ran back over to Julian on short stubby legs as Brock let out Onix. This is what he'd been waiting for. The giant was intimidating, watching it stare down at you, but Julian had been face to face with Gods. Not missing a beat, he sent out Mantine. Since there wasn't any water around he had to be quick. With a swipe of it's giant tail, Onix sent rocks flying at Mantine to bury it. Julian was just about to return the Pokemon when a giant wave broke through the stones and swept over the lower half of Onix's body, broke, and then washed past Brock's feet. If Mantine could only do that one more time, Julian was sure they would win. However, Onix had other ideas. he wasn't going to let that happen again, because another swipe of the tail sent more rocks to bury Mantine again. Julian waited, but Mantine could not do the Surf attack a second time and he had to return his Pokemon.
Considering Larvitar had beaten Geodude, he nodded to the Pokemon to reenter the fray. This Pokemon was miniscule in comparison to Onix but did not show any fear as it wobbled forward at a run. It had worked before, so Onix repeated his Rock Tomb attack and buried Larvitar. Tense seconds passed in which Onix looked close to the buried pile for movements or other signs of life. Julian wasn't ready to give up just yet though, and sure enough Larvitar broke through the stones and jumped up, biting Onix directly on it's horn. Onix roared in pain, throwing it's head this way and that, trying to throw Larvitar but his Pokemon held on even with his body flapping back and forth like a doll. Onix reared up to it's full height and then fell. For a second Julian thought it was going to bring it's full weight down on Larvitar as it had the last Trainer's Pokemon who had challenged it, but he had just fainted and fell.
When Brock did not send out any other Pokemon, Julian returned Larvitar and Kabuto and walked over to meet him half way. TL;DR

gravity_resistantWithin the walls of the rock type gym, Brock knew that there were waves where new trainers would come in for their challenges, and it seemed today was one of those days. It was invigorating to always see the newest trainers coming through and to see what they had to offer, help them with what they wanted or needed to work on. Every trainer that came through was different, had a different goal, something they were striving for, and a different way of making themselves known in the league. He really enjoyed his position in the league in being the first gym leader that trainers encounter in their travels, it gave him an opportunity that not many could experience for themselves, to help guide those new trainers into the world that they wanted to be a part of. He never discouraged any one coming through his doors, only wanted to teach them and help them grow if they struggled with their first challenge. He faced a many a different challenges that day, always a variety of different Pokémon, and this most recent trainer that he came to face not only had an interesting selection of Pokémon, but a much different style of battling. The battle itself was rather quiet, in fact, he couldn't recall, even over the rumbling of his rock types, that he'd heard a single word spoken from the trainer that approached him. His Pokémon moved wordlessly, and he wondered what kind of relationship the trainer had with the Pokémon he was choosing to train, but he couldn't deny that a victory was a victory for the challenger. "Quiet, huh,"' Brock smiled, walking to meet the trainer whom moved forward, there was always something with each trainer and what they were going through. "Your Pokémon did pretty good out there, but don't forget that they're going to need you sometimes, okay? We take it pretty easy here, but when you really get going, it's all about team work," Brock offered calmly, handing out his badge to the trainer. "Congratulations on your badge today, we had a good time," the leader commented with another smile, complimenting on a good battle none the less. Only Umbreon and Espeon were left out of their Pokeball on his walk back to the Pokemon Center. They had enjoyed their little nap while Julian had battled. His team were tended to quickly and efficiently by the Nurse who ran this establishment and then he spent some time in his room just relaxing. During this time, he'd pulled out all of his old badges and shined them up, made them look like new. He'd neglected them in his adventures but now that things were calm again he was able to focus his attention on small details like that. BACKPACK

Emiri did some situating while they were walking, taking her back pack and things from Charizard's saddle to return the dragon to her Pokeball so she didn't have to walk. Charizard much preferred flying over walking in any case, but with her bipedal form it was easier and faster for her to fly than it was to walk. Not that she couldn't and not that she wouldn't but Emiri didn't want to have to have Charizard walk with them the whole way, and she had already done so much flying practice the day before Emiri didn't want her to be worn out again. It came with refusal and stubborness though, as could be expected, Charizard was never too keen on leaving Emiri alone when there were others present, but she could at least trust that Kovu would take action if need be, and while she still wasn't exactly keen on Nimbus yet, she knew that he was fond of Emiri already. That did leave Emiri with only Nimbus and Kovu out with her, and the baby whom padded along on the dirt ground and actually managed to keep a good pace with them on his four legs. Kovu kept a close vigil and entertained both the baby and himself in the walk through the forest, taking care in helping the baby if he tripped or something of the like. He kept the baby out of any harm, keeping him close to the path and the group, and hopefully with his careful eye Emiri was hopeful that the baby would learn not to stray too far and to keep close to those whom he was familiar with. Otherwise, the walk through to Pewter City was uneventful as Andy continued to get to know the Pokemon that he was now in company with. The Tangela provided enough entertainment for the two of them it seemed as the small grass type had a talent for using its vines to communicate, but Emiri just didn't have the heart to tell the little guy that she could understand him without having to think so hard on how he could portray something through his vines. She was already having to be mindful of talking with Charizard while she had her out around Andy, not that she was trying to expend so much effort to keep it a secret, but she just didn't want any questions raised about her 'talking' with her Pokemon. Andy was just a normal person with normal ideals and a normal start to a normal journey, and for the first time in what had been years now... Emiri was actually enjoying the normalcy of it. There was nothing pressing, nothing dangerous, nothing out of the ordinary, and it was almost refreshing for her. Andy didn't know anything about her, and while that caused trouble when it came to things like her nightmares, it also meant that she could go along with it and maybe pretend on some level that she was normal...
It wasn't long before the forest began to fade into field, and just as Emiri might have thought, in the early afternoon, Pewter City was showing in the distance. In just a few minutes grass would become sidewalk and trees would turn to buildings, and Emiri couldn't help but look on towards the city, panic beginning to set in again... She remembered walking this same path with Aku, and meeting the girl with the Venomoth named Buju... They were all going to challenge their first gym badge together, go to meet Brock as the young and impressionable trainers that they were... She almost wished that she could go back that day and just stop herself from moving into the city... If just maybe she and Aku had stayed in the forest just a day more...
"This is the first time you left home you said. What do you want to do, now that you're out traveling? You haven't really talked about the league challenge or anything like that," Emiri asked then after a few moments, trying to steel herself against the flooding gates of her memories. If she could just distract herself, keep herself occupied and focused on something else, even for just a little bit to get her bearings, she might be able to make it through the city, but any kind of diversion would help... That aside though, it was something that she realized, Andy hadn't exactly made any mention of ambitions or plans being out on his own, so what was it that he was wanting or planning to do, and she wondered too if her traveling with him was going to do anything really to help him with whatever he did want to do. Pewter immediately gave off that big city vibe much like Viridian City did; this place was more of a researchers paradise than the other city what with the rather big museum building in the distance. He wasn't a research buff; the fossils of pokemon from long ago were still quite interesting to him and he did look to learn about them. He just preferred to do it out on the field, rather than reading about it from a book. All four of his pokemon gaze around as much of the city as they can see. taking all the sights in that they can. Tangela notices the Pewter City gym and uses a few vines to point to it, Andy shaking his head gently at this, "Not really here to try that yet bud," he says smiling at the Vine Pokemon which confused the Tangela, the grass type forming a vine into a question mark shape before Aqua decides to answer his confusion for him
"He's really looking to be a ranger instead of doing the gym challenges, though I suppose we could do those later if he wants."
Tangela gives her a questioning look as if he hadn't heard of pokemon rangers before, in fact, he hadn't, "What are the pokemon rangers?"
That does catch the attention of Phoenix though he doesn't say anything about the question. Audrey actually answering it, They look to protect the habitats we live in along with just helping any pokemon that they see in some sort of trouble. They don't just let anyone be one though."
"So he looks to help every single pokemon in the world? Quite the big task for him to take on."
"He can do it I'm sure," Aqua smiles confidently looking to Andy for a second.
You seem to really have confidence in him," Phoenix would softly say.
"Why not? I've been around him since he was a boy... 12 years specifically, Audrey could give you the short version."
As the Chansey does that, Emeri poses pretty much the same question to Andy himself. "Oh well I'm not planning on doing the gym challenges, least not at first, I suppose I can try it after my main goal is finished," he gulps even saying that, "I really can't see myself doing too well with that. Those guys train night and day with endless battles, without a whole team of battle-hardened pokemon, I wouldn't last 3 minutes against the leader here. I look to be a pokemon Ranger instead, out to help pokemon in some sort of trouble, I'd have to go to a school first though. Any advice you have about that is welcome," he added as he had no idea if he was missing something possibly very important. "Also, how about we stop by the museum while we are here?" posing his own suggestion on someplace to visit. Phoenix

The baby Chifaera had kept a good pace in their trek through the forest, being new on his legs and paws Emiri had been interested in watching him travel along with them, but it came as no surprise that he wore himself out in his new active nature. It would take time for him to get accustom to the new exertion it took to move around, but with how advanced he was already, Emiri knew it wouldn't be much longer. The Chifaera did wear himself out though, and Kovu had taken to picking him up from the ground and keeping him on his back then. The small dragon was curled up in the crook of his shoulders and his neck, dozing in and out sleep as he looked around with his golden eyes, and they were soon within Pewter City and among the buildings and walkways. Emiri walked with Nimbus and Kovu, and Andy kept along with his few Pokemon, but Emiri was distant now as she glanced along the city streets that she was already familiar with. She was trying desperately to keep her focus on anything other than what she was familiar with, she was afraid that looking at the sidewalks she would find gashes from those scythes, or if she looked at a building she would remember the broken windows and chaos that took over the city... She could remember walking with Aku and that girl with the Venomoth into the city, she met Alex for the first time when they all came here... The city was quiet, there were no people around since the trouble had already started before they'd gotten there, but then the screeches began... Those horrible airy screeches and the sounds of bones scraping together, it came before they realized what was really happening... Despite her best efforts, Emiri's mind was wandering, and she was almost afraid of turning a corner and finding one of those monsters waiting and ready to strike...
Andy's voice only barely managed to catch her attention at her question before when he regarded the idea of the league challenge, and she almost coughed at trying to bring herself out of her imaginings, almost feeling like she just saw a scythe disappear around the building that they had just passed. She blinked a little bit, trying to bring her attention back into focus, and she looked at him with her brown eyes at his reasonings. He didn't sound too confident in ever being able to take on a gym leader in a challenge, but Emiri didn't think that he might quite understand that the gym leaders weren't necessarily there to beat new trainers into submission like it sounded, but to offer a learning opportunity and guidance for what they would encounter in their training.
"Maybe one day, don't be discouraged about it? Gym leaders are more like mentors... They all are in their positions because they provide a lesson in training for the trainers going through their challenge," Emiri tried to say, but it seemed that while gym battles didn't seem to be in the cards for him, he actually had his mind set on something else, wanting to become a Pokemon Ranger. Emiri was familiar with the concept of Pokemon Rangers, she knew of the organization, but beyond that, she actually didn't have any idea of what it took to become a Pokemon ranger.
"I'm not sure... I don't think I've ever really met a Pokemon Ranger before, I don't know what it takes to be a ranger... But that's neat," she answered after a moment, considering anything that she might know, but there was nothing that she could recall about becoming a Pokemon Ranger. It was admirable though, and it was good to know that Andy had something in mind, an ambition to work for, it just sounded like he wanted to get more comfortable about being out on his own first and traveling before he started into anything head first.
They continued walking along the sidewalk, Kovu sniffing here and there with the baby on his back, and Nimbus looking around at the new city that he got to see for himself, but as Emiri moved almost carefully in their walking, she stopped all together at Andy's question about the museum and wanting to visit the facility. Flashes of the fossils that had attacked the city raced through her mind, the Aerodactyl that swarmed the skies and came down upon anything that still roamed the city, and the Kabutops that rushed through anything in their path...
"Uh.... The, the museum...? I don't... I don't think I can go there...," she muttered, her words catching in her throat then at just the mere mention, it was enough to stop her where she stood as she struggled then to keep her eyes focused on anything besides the distant glaze that was over coming her. It was harder than she thought... Trying to keep herself under control and come to grips with where she was... She was losing her grip and just couldn't bring herself to make any other excuses aside from the blatant truth that she could not go to the museum, she'd fall apart of she had to see those fossils again despite her want to move past it all. Everyone continues down the path of dirt in Pewter, nothing really being mentioned too much until he brought up that the gym leaders weren't the first thing on his mind, going to be a ranger instead. Emeri clarifies his take on the gym leaders, calling them more like mentors that offer guidance at points along the way. "I guess that helps a bit there..." voice trailing off into a sigh as he thinks on that a bit, "They can be mentors all they want, that doesn't mean they will hesitate to absolutely destroy trainers," he sighs before going into his ranger speech. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to offer any advice on what the process was, "Too bad, though I should have some awesome stories to tell someday unless you happen to be there when I come out of the school. Truth be told, he was hoping she would pay him a visit or two, Andy starting to see her more as a friend now than the professor's helper. Maybe she could share in the joy of when he officially becomes a ranger?
After some more time passes, Andy would bring up the idea of going to the Museum, Emeri stopping in her tracks the second he brought up the idea, confusing him a little, "Uh... T-the museum...? I don't... I don't think I can go there...," Andy could hear her uncertainty as she said this and stops himself to look her over.
"What's wrong Emeri? Are you okay?" he asks again going a bit closer to her to see nothing appearing to be wrong physically, just that she zoned out all at once. Now even more confused, he wonders what could be causing her to stop and zone out, a look around doesn't reveal anything out of the ordinary, besides the way Emeri looks to Andy at this very moment, though he doesn't dare comment on that as he was reclusive for his childhood practically. "I hope she comes out of that soon, " taking her hand gently and leading her to the museum, "Best not draw any unwanted attention from anyone around," he thought. Phoenix

The Chifaera had since fallen asleep curled up in the crook of Kovu's shoulders between his wings after moving about all morning, and Nimbus lofted around on his tail as he looked around at the new surroundings. He was unfamiliar with so many things now that he was away from the islands, being this far inland to where he couldn't smell salt water and feel mist in the air was so surreal, and the mountains that came up in the north and out to the east were so unlike anything that the Alolan Islands had. Nimbus looked around with intrigue and interest, but he stopped at feeling that same strange force that Emiri gave off earlier that morning. It was a bit weaker now than it was then, but it was growing, almost as if it were something unstable that was breaking apart and threatening to consume. He was listening on and off, caught some word about a museum, and then Emiri stopped all of a sudden where he felt the spike in the energy around her, the thoughts in her mind going wild. There was something about being here and being in this place that was causing her to react this way, but something about the mention of the museum was almost terrifying to her it seemed, and she stammered about not going to the museum, that she didn't think she could go there.
"What happened," Nimbus asked, his ears lowered and his eyes wide with concern as he moved slowly towards Emiri and Andy, and this now had caught Kovu's attention as he felt Emiri's change in her demeanor, and he moved forward too with concern, looking at her with a chuff and a purr from his voice. She was shaking now, her eyes distant with struggle and her breathing was heavy, and she only managed to look up at Andy's question of asking what was the matter.
"No... No, I'm not okay... I can't keep my memories straight," Emiri struggled to answer, her eyes flashing between the bright afternoon that they were in now to the dusty morning of that day... The screams in the distance, the crashes and attacks that flew through the air... She didn't even notice that she was moving when Andy grabbed her gently to keep moving through the city, but her eyes flashed again and she could see the museum in the near distance, where it all started...
"No, no please, I can't go back there! They're in there, they'll kill you,"' Emiri panicked then, starting to pull against his gentle grasp on her hand, she could see the fossils now, they were attacking the city and destroying everything in their paths, they were almost indestructible, nothing could hurt them since they were already dead... Kovu snarled at the notion that Andy was hurting Emiri, and the black dragon rushed forward with Nimbus close behind, but in reality there was a heavy crash of broken glass that rang through the air, and a series of screams that carried over the walkways and buildings. Kovu stopped then with raised ears, the screams continued and there was a screech that came over the buildings, and shouts of passersby.
"Look out!"
"Where did it come from!?"
"It came from the museum, it's out of control!"
There was another screech, and a burst of dust and rubble as the side of a building was attacked with slashing scythes, and Emiri froze all together at the all too familar sound. A Kabutops came around the corner, feral and aggressive at just being revived and experimented on in the laboratory at the museum. It bared its scythes and gave out a cry of distress and anguish, leering and lunging at anything that even dared to move, and it turned in the direction of Emiri and Andy and the Pokemon that stood down the way with them. It rushed then, its scythes scraping along the ground with feral sharp red eyes, and Emiri screamed as her eyes flashed, and it was a fossil that was coming towards her, the bare bones and souless monsters that had attacked that day in Pewter City. Nimbus panicked, but Kovu snarled at the Kabutops that was moving towards them, he looked at Nimbus and the mouse immediately took the baby from his back in a rush, causing the Chifaera to start and chuff at being disturbed in his sleep, but now that Kovu was free of that restriction he spared no effort. He roared and flared his wings as he lunged towards the Kabutops, effectively stopping the rock type in its tracks, but despite any notion that Kovu would be able to effectively take care of the very potential threat, Emiri's mind had already let go of the flood of memories that came with the Kabutops attack. She was holding her head in her trembling, shaking hands, struggling to discern between reality and her memories, but tears stung at her eyes and rolled down her cheeks at the onslaught of visions that were passing through her eyes.
