Hanako Lucali

Personality: To say she's socially awkward would be an understatement. Her time spent trapped in her bed due to her illness severely limited her social activity and the first half of her life was spent in a less than positive environment. This has left her skittish, quiet, and very shy.

History: Hanako knew from a young age that she was different from the other children in her town. Other children got to go outside and play with their friends. Their bruises were from accidents or playing too rough, not from a parent that viewed their sick child as an outlet for their frustrations. She lived with her father. Her parents had divorced not long after her birth when her medical problems had become apparent. Part of her believes her father blamed her for her mother leaving, which was why he treated her the way he did. If she hadn't been sick then maybe her family would have stayed together. Because of this she took the abuse in silence in the hope that someday her father might forgive her and things could be okay. That all changed one night when her father came home drunk.

She doesn't fully remember how it happened. A lot of her memories of that day were repressed, which is likely for the better. What she does remember is managing to escape from her house and only making it down the road before colliding with a trainer. Her face was bloodied and bruised, which got the attention of both the trainer and its Greninja. They remained with her until the police arrived. She believes that they are the only reason she's still alive. By the end of the night she had lost one of her eyes due to the damage that had been done.

After she had recovered Hanako was sent to live with her grandparents in Kalos. While she still couldn't go outside due to her illness, she was able to live peacefully.

It wasn't until she turned seventeen that she was able to start exploring the world beyond her room. She began spending most of her time in her grandmother's garden, helping her maintain it. For the first time in her life she was able to consider a future beyond her isolation. She wanted to be a trainer like the one who had helped her so long ago. A few years later and she was finally well enough to begin her journey. While she knows she'll never be as strong as other trainers, she looks forward to the thought of bonding with her Pokemon friends and someday starting a garden with them.

Appearance/Physical Description: Hanako is very small. Her illness affected her growth. She has dark skin, cyan hair, and silver eyes. While she prefers to wear dresses she will sometimes wear shorts and a long sleeved shirt if she is somewhere a dress would be inappropriate. She wears an eye patch over her missing eye, usually one with a flower on it but she will switch it out on occasion to match her outfit. On the days her scars irritate her she will settle for wearing loose bandages over it instead.
