Llorona Braithwaite "You really think so? I guess we will see about that difference of opinion now won't we?" holding her hand up and gesturing as if speaking for him, Llonora shook her hair out a bit and yawned. The pokemon in her prep course were more than cooperative to the students, and while these were freshly caught, wild pokemon - she knew she could keep them in line with a little discipline. One look at her brother told the girl that he was less than pleased about her reaction but she wasn't the only one who wasn't perfect... he made mistakes as far as she was concerned. Tapping her chin thoughtfully in response to his question, The black haired woman awkwardly pressed her fingers together and offered a shy shrug, bringing up the only bit of 'research' she had done regarding the alola region. "I saw beaches, a few cities with some really exotic shopping centers, and one island with an amazing swell. I haven't been surfing in like five years Cy, what did you expect?" Right as she was about to continue into a large rant about how he couldn't judge her for her choices, Llonora stumbled backwards when a pokemon she did not recognize lashed out at Cyren's Machop, instinctively searching her bag of not so essential items for the Pokedex she had tossed into it earlier in the day. During the length of the fight she had gone from merely searching, to quite literally dumping her bag onto the ground - furiously digging through her personal effects until she finally produced what she was looking for... Just in time to miss the Rockruff completely as it disappeared into a Pokeball. "God damn it! I just got it out too - what WAS that thing?!" She snapped more at the situation than Cyren himself, whining miserably at the mention of the Pokemon center. She really didn't want to sleep outside but at the same time, the woman was now well aware that she had quite the mess of things to clean up on the ground. Deadeye leaned back quickly when he was booped, shaking his head a few times while he watched the Litten spring into battle. This Rockruff was not like the other Pokemon they had encountered today. . . It was stronger, much stronger if it was so easily able to defeat Cyren's Machop after it had just been healed. "Rhea! Be careful, don't let it hit you!!" He offered rather pointlessly to the feline Pokemon. The Rockruff was fast too, so doing as he asked was much easier said than done. Even still - Deadeye continued to cheer Rhea on, squawking and jumping up and down repeatedly like the little cheerleader he was until the rock type was captured. "Are you gonna be okay?" He asked as the Litten returned, bouncing slowly closer to Cyren so that he could inspect any wounds his friend might have incurred as a result of her battle. Another beautiful field stood before Velvet and Oshawott. They stared across it, taken aback by just how amazing everything in Alola seemed to be. Beyond the flowers, Velvet could see a ramshackle hut, and according to the signage at the head of the trail, that was where Professor Kukui lived. She had no intentions of visiting him, she didn't know him or have any business there, but it was good to know things like that, Velvet thought. Off the pair went, frolicking through the flowers as they went. Oshawott's bouquet from the previous foray had been placed in a cup of water back at the Pokemon Center counter in Hau'Oli, but she evidently thought she needed more flowers, so she started to pick the perfect ones when she spotted them. Velvet was delighted to see her Pokemon having such a good time. {Post Info}

As the pair went on, they discovered the path led past the hut belonging to the resident Professor, and Velvet gave it a curious once-over as she passed. Through a small window on one side she glimpsed a tall water-filled tank with bubbles floating up from below and all kinds of aquatic Pokemon swimming around, but she wasn't nosy enough to keep looking as her Oshawott walked onward. She focused on the traveling again and spotted the place the path led; straight into the hill, which was a very stony structure more resembling a small mountain than any 'hill' she'd have described. She could hear echoing water droplet sounds coming from within. Oshawott paused before approaching the mouth of the cave. "Oshawashawa?" "I'm fine, Oshawott. We can handle a little cave, right? I've just never been in one before, that's all." "Oshawa!" Excited to be on, Oshawott dove right into the shadowy entrance, followed hesitantly by Velvet.

Inside the cave, once her eyes adjusted to the dark, Velvet found that it wasn't so bad. The air smelled damp and musty and there was a few small puddles here and there reflecting the light from the entrance. She spotted a few rocks moving about slightly, rock Pokemon adjusting their positions in their sleep perhaps? Oshawott didn't notice them as she ran forward and leapt straight down into a puddle, sending a splash of water every which way. Velvet was far enough back to avoid it, however.
"Hey, Oshawott, be careful, okay?" Oshawott gave Velvet a look like a sassy teen, like she knew better and how dare her trainer tell her a thing she already knew, but then she bumped right into a sleeping creature. It was barely visible in the dark, and Velvet had a hard time parsing its shape, but it was sort of like a puppy? The Pokemon stood up and shook itself, apparently having been asleep, and Oshawott readied herself for a fight! but the Pokemon yawned, showing its sharp teeth, then opened its eyes wide and dipped its body in a play-bow. The Pokemon's tail wagged as its little butt stood straight up, and it hopped around the confused Oshawott, giving happy barks and wiggling its whole body with joy.
It turned out to be a Rockruff, according to Velvet's 'dex, but it was a strange color. Rather than a pale tan with blue eyes, it was black with red-brown markings and darker fluff on its neck and tail.
Oshawott played with the strange Pokemon, they chased each other around in circles and made all kinds of noise while Velvet watched and laughed.

After watching the pair of Pokemon play for a while, Velvet decided that it was likely time to head back. She had no idea how deep the cave was, so she didn't want to try to fully explore it just yet, and she'd gotten a strange letter on her 'Dex that she looked over now. Something about an island near Galar and an exclusive invite? She figured it might be an interesting experience and decided that if she wanted to get there in time, she'd want to get to traveling by the following morning, since Galar was quite far from Alola. Not for the first time, she did question her own wisdom in choosing such a remote tourist area for her journey's beginning, but she shrugged it off.
"Oshawott, it's time to go." The otter Pokemon protested, but waved goodbye to her friend, who whimpered and crouched down looking sort of pouty. Velvet hesitantly approached the Pokemon, then leaned down and offered her palm to sniff before giving the wild Pokemon a pat on the head. "Sorry, little friend, we've just got to head out."
As they walked back toward town, it turned out the Rockruff had decided to follow them, and in a sweet little scene it allowed Velvet to capture it and add it to the team.
