She is pleasant, friendly, open, and easy to get along with. They'll warm up quickly to anyone they think they can trust and will happily talk about a wide variety of subjects, but will especially light up when talking about flowers or Pokemon. Velvet rarely brings up their past, choosing to allow her youthful appearance to keep people thinking she's younger than she is. Not that Velvet minds being nearly 30, but Velvet hates to explain why they are just now starting on their journey with Pokemon and will avoid that subject tactfully. History: Velvet's childhood was typical, the thing she was teased about was her size, which has always been a bit on the round side with her minimal height, but nothing more than gentle teasing. Her parents were absent-minded, not all that protective but not neglectful. An only child, Velvet mostly got whatever she needed and some of what she wanted, but she was usually lonely. Her mother was allergic to most domestic Pokemon and neither of her parents had any interest in getting her one or letting her bring one home. After grade school was high school, uneventful save for some strong friendships forged over the time. College wasn't in the cards for Velvet, but neither, did it seem, was traveling with Pokemon like many kids had done rather than moving on to middle school and onward right away; it's not that she didn't want to, but that she feared disappointing her parents with her choice to leave, and so she stayed. Until she was 28 years old, Velvet had determined that she'd find a job, save her own money up, and get herself a cheap, crappy apartment somewhere so that she could grow houseplants and get a Pokemon of her very own at long last. When her 28th birthday came and went, only marking the passage of time by a sweet cake from a local grocer and a few small gifts, Velvet had decided to just go for it, and told her parents that she would be going on her Pokemon journey like 'everyone else' had gotten to do. Surprisingly, they were supportive, even chipping in to get her a nice bag and some travel-size things to pack along. And, so, she went. Appearance/Physical Description: Chunky, round, freckled lightly across the arms and face. Velvet has a pale complexion and soft features, with round cheeks and big brown eyes framed in long lashes. Hair of wildly curly pale pink is typically worn in a loose, messy ponytail. Velvet tends to wear wide-brimmed hats to protect their pale skin, favoring a floral look with lots of little silk flowers and butterflies with ribbon. Matching dresses adorn Velvet's body, flattering her pearlike shape with a high waistline and length just below the knee, weather permitting. Shoes are usually simple slip ons, either light colored sandals or patterned canvas flats, only changing to heavier shoes with socks when it's cold and damp. |
