 "A charming town where the people make their homes among the trunks of the towering trees."
A true testament to becoming one with nature, seamlessly adapting to one's environment, and truly building a relationship with the Pokemon that call somewhere home, Ballonlea is a shining example of how a civilization, however small, can become a part of an environment without disturbing it and without causing harm to the creatures that call it home. It is said, decades ago, as people were continuing to build and expand in the Galar Region and explore the reaches of the land around Hammerlocke, no one had yet ventured into the trees that made up the north western part of the region, but exploration knows no bounds. Soon enough, it became known, that to venture into the dark forest, menat to be lost forever. No one ever returned from the trees, until one day, someone did that had already been missing and assumed gone for quite sometime. Not everyone who ventured into the trees had had such luck, but anyone who was humble to the environment, genuine and meaningful in their interactions within the trees, they were actually taken care of by the Pokemon and by the environment. The one who returned had been given passage back through the trees, but wanted to return again as they had come to know the forest as a home. Over the years, Ballonlea began to build and form within the trees, the environment welcoming settlers and travelers so long as the forest could remain and parts would remain undisturbed, and there are many that live in the humble town that vow their thanks to the faries and mystical Pokemon that cultivate the forest, and will make sure that the tangle remains unharmed.
{ Ballonlea Stadium (Click)}Bede is the official Gym Leader of the Ballonlea Stadium. He specializes in Fairy Type Pokemon, and gives out the Fairy Badge to those who defeat him. After his disqualification from the Gym Challenge for destroying an ancient landmark, he was scouted by Opal to success her in her Gym. However she was soon after hired into the Elite 4. This much is known by most, what most don't know is that he spent a great deal of his childhood in an orphanage after his family hit hard times and gave him up. The Chairman noticed him while visiting the orphanage and his life changed for ever. He is a very prideful young man, and most who encounter him find him to be a bit stuck up. He even has been thought of down right rude. More recently, his temper and mighty attitude has mellowed out as he fell into his role of Gym Leader. Most believe this is because of Opal's extremely rough and hard training, however he has yet to confirm or deny it. He has gained quite a fan-base because of his dramatic intrusion of the Gym Challenge finale, however he isn't sure how to feel about this. Bede's gym sits in the back of the town of Ballonlea. The outside matches most of the previous Gym Leaders in it's large and round shape. It's main color is purple like the others, but is accented in a light pink color. Inside it's lobby it matches the other Gyms in it's ticket booth and gift shop where you can by both Bede and Opal memorabilia. In the dressing room they will be requested and encouraged, but not required, to wear the uniform they were given at the start of their challenge. Once they are ready, they'll be lead back out of the stadium and into a pink wooden house that's attached to the side of the Stadium. Once inside it'll open up into a stage like battle field. Here is where Opal herself will conduct her Gym Challenge which is mandatory to see if they are worthy of battling her successor. She is known to immediately take a disliking to anyone not wearing pink. She'll watch the battle between the challenger and gym trainers while she questions and quizzes them between battles. Her questions are always one of two things, questions about fairy types or completely unfair questions about herself or Bede. Each wrong question leads to a handicap against the challenger when battling Bede. Some being a rain machine on the challengers side, strong winds from a wing machine, etc. Once her challenge is over, the challenger will be lead back into the stadium in which is large and open much like the previous stadiums, with an open roof.   {Gym Trainer (Click)} Theresa  Swirlix Lv. 40 HP 300 Female Ability: Unburden: Speed doubles when the Pokémon's hold item is lost Play Rough- 90 | Lowers opponent's attack by one stage.

She could feel the energy, the life, pouring out of every tree and plant that they passed, and it was easy to understand why. As Emiri and the baby sat quietly on Aslan’s back, there were fairy type Pokemon and other strange Pokemon that Emiri had never seen before all over the place. Near as she could figure, they must have cultivated this forest to be exactly the kind of environment, exactly the kind of home that they wanted in order to thrive. They must have imbued the land with their natural energy, so much so that the giant fungi and mushrooms that grew along the trees were glowing with different colors, lighting the way through the forest in a sense. If ever Emiri felt that she had been as close to nature as she might have ever been, moving through the forest and being able to bask in the energy that it provided naturally, it was almost revitalizing, refreshing.
Much to her delight, the trees began to break and Emiri could see structures and buildings that marked the location for Ballonlea. It was incredible to see really, how an entire town had been integrated into the forest with little disruption, and had been accepted by the Pokemon that called this place home. Leaving Aslan at the forest’s edge, Emiri moved into the town with the baby as they looked around at the fascinating way that it had been built within the confines of the trees and forest. She did end up finding the Pokemon Center there and made her way inside, gaining her next stamp from the Nurse Joy who greeted her. With that, her small adventure through the western Galar forest complete, Emiri made her way back towards Aslan and the lion in kind moved through the forest again to go back out into the open. Elfana Aroway Elfana was surprised to see that Ballonlea wasn't so much a blemish on the environment so much as it was part of it. She was glad for this. The Glimwood Tangle had been an enjoyable place to explore and she would hate for it to be tarnished by humans. If willing to believe that magic might be real, she might describe the forest as magical. The giant glowing mushrooms certainly made it feel that way. Alas, Elfana was convinced there was a natural reason for the gigantism displayed in the trees and fungi. While a source had yet to be discovered, she was certain it would be found someday. "I wonder if there will be a variance in color if I try to grow these myself." She muttered to herself as she observed a small blue mushroom. Did the different colors signify a different species or were they all the same type of mushroom? Fungi weren't exactly her specialty. Further research would be required if she wanted to properly care for the glowing mushrooms she tried to grow in her lab. This time when she stopped at the Pokemon Center she had several questions for the nurse. Most of them were about the local flora and the interactions the local Pokemon had with them. Asking about getting her booklet stamped ended up being an afterthought. Walter had to remind her about it before she thought to ask. They landed in front of the Pokemon Center and Kira hopped off. She was about to walk through the automatic doors when they opened from the other side. A dark-skinned girl walked through. The glow seemed to have been incorporated into her outfit and hair, though Kira wasn't sure how she managed this. She flashed Kira a smile as she passed, but was apparently too busy to stop and have a chat. That was alright though because Kira was falling behind. Her days were numbered and she still had at least 20 more stamps to collect. If not, then even more.
She walked through the doors and the Nurse Joy approached her. "What can I help you with today?" She asked. Like many of her relatives, this Nurse Joy scanned Lucy for signs of injuries. Seeing none, and that Kira was not presenting any Pokeballs, she was therefore not surprised when Kira told her that she was only here to collect a stamp. She had it in a pocket, provided Kira with the stamp she was looking for, and then they parted ways. Kira left the Pokemon Center and climbed onto Charizard. Looking around one last time, she wished she had more time to explore this curious place.

 Church finally reached the town of Ballonlea and stopped off at the pokecenter to make sure his pokemon were in peak condition before heading for the gym. Upon reaching it he decided not to wear his uniform, seeing as it wasn't exactly mandatory here. He thought it pointless to begin with, why did it matter what he wore? The gym challenge was about power, not style. Even if it were about style the uniform was ghastly either way.
He was led into a small pink house attached to the side of the gym and immediately didn't like what he saw. Why did the battle-field remind him of a gameshow? He eyed the podium to his right as Opal slowly approached it, both nervous and annoyed. He didn't like this one bit. However as a trainer took up the spot opposite him he focused on the battle at hand.
"Pop Quiz!" Opal's voice suddenly broke into his focus and he was forced to glare at her as she continued on.
"Do you know about Fairy Type's weakness?"
"...Poison and steel."
"Correct! What is my favorite color?"

Church healed up his pokemon as the battle came to an end before he was led into the next room to await the gym leader. He stood at his mark shifting from one foot to the other as he waited, impatient for the match to begin. It wasn't long before Bede approached the field and introduced himself, though Church didn't care enough to really listen to the kid fully. He didn't like the look in Bede's eyes nor the condescending feel of it on his skin. He just wanted to get this battle over with. If he lost then his pokemon would be put through hell to get even stronger, and if he won... well, he had no more use for them. Not that he would ever voice this out loud less he hurt their moral.

MochaBede returned his Pokemon, he had lost but at least he had put up a good fight. Despite his loss, he got a bit of satisfaction from watching the male's handicap of the strong gusting winds that only seemed to effect the challenger and his Pokemon. But even with this handicap and distraction, the male had won. Because of Bede's popularity, their battle had drawn quite the crowd of watchers from those living in Ballonlea. Of course, it wasn't a full stadium, that doesn't usually happen in off season, but there was a nice sizeable crowd that really enjoyed the battle and cheered at Church's win. But there was a few die hard fans that booed the male. Bede walked across the field to meet the male, waving at his fans to try and settle them down, and gave him a confident but friendly smile once he reached him. "That was a really close battle, it was a lot of fun." He offered the male, before putting a hand on his hip. "But you really need to do a lot of training or Gordie is going to wipe the floor with you. " Bede warned, fairly plain and rudely. He had almost won, so if he had this much trouble with him, he was not ready for the next gym. However, what he didn't see was Opal shuffling up behind him, and promptly pinched Bede's cheeks, earning a groan from the gym leader but he knew better then to swat the old woman's hand away. "I think your battle was rather nice." Opal complimented as she hushed Bede. "Instead of training... I think you need a bit more pink in your wardrobe, or on your Pokemon. That will definitely help." She offered her own 2 cents. Soon houses and other buildings began to appear among the towering trees as Grim and his crew reached Ballonlea. It was a gorgeous sight and for a moment Grim simply stood to take it all in. One of his favorite things was nature, and to see a town so in tune with it made him feel at peace. With a deep relaxed breath Grim led the way to the pokemon center and had his pokemon checked over before continuing onward. He wanted to train just a little more before taking on the next gym.
Within moments of searching, the group came across a Phantump swirling about by one of the large trees. It was a perfect start.

 As the battle ended, Grim healed up his pokemon and continued on through the town. As he passed the gym he eyed it for a few moments before moving on. He would be crazy to take it on right now. Although most of his team was prepared well enough, there was the matter of Nova to take into account. She was far too behind currently to participate in this gym, and there simply wasn't enough time to try and catch her up just yet. He still needed one more pokemon to fill out his team, and so the search continued. This time, it was a Morgrem that they spotted sitting on a mushroom nearby that would help them get stronger. Grim watched the wild pokemon flee after it's defeat and smiled at Luckett. Of his pokemon, Luckett was probably the most reliable in both strength and temperament. To Grim he was as good as a second in command. Even Tokumei listened to the Leafeon, which was surprising considering he was a grass type and she a fire type.
He pet Luckett on the head for a job well done before turning and heading for the bus station. He had figured out their next step during the battle. After all, catching a fairy type here wouldn't really help them to defeat a fairy Gym. The next town over, however, might have some pokemon that could help them. Preferably a steel or poison type, but he would take what he could get. New plan figured out, Grim returned Tokumei to her pokeball and boarded the bus heading to Circhester with Luckett and Raika. --------------------------------------------------------------- Tickets: 7 Wild Encounter: 30/? Grim could feel his excitement build as they approached the grand building and walked inside. There, they signed up at the desk before they were led to a small house branching off the side of the Gym. At first Grim was confused, but then he realized this would be the challenge before they could take on the Gym Leader. Albeit an odd one.
Once inside the house, Grim was led to a small battle zone with a stage to one side. On the stage stood Opal, the old Gym leader and apparently the giver of his first challenge. Although what that challenge was, he had no idea.
"Not nearly enough Pink, my dear." Opal seemed to chide him before explaining the challenge and flashing him a smile. A gameshow while battling seemed rather silly, but Grim kept his mouth shut and merely nodded his head to show he understood. With that, the challenge started.
"What is my favorite color?"
"Pink?"
"Wrong! It's purple of course. Now, what color was the siding of this house?"

Grim healed up his pokemon before slowly making his way back into the Gym through a door set into the side of the house. So far it had gone well, although the gym trainers did give him more trouble than he had been expecting. As he took his position on the battlefield he shifted from one foot to the other, restless as the time finally came. Hopefully, he would leave here with his fifth badge.
He watched as Bede took up position across from him and smiled politely, even though he was sure the boy couldn't see it from where he stood. As the announcer started to speak, Grim took out a pokeball and readied himself. Here goes nothing!

MochaBede returned his Hatterene with a smirk. He began to walk across the field towards the opponent. The odds were stacked against Grim in this battle, not only had the wind machine been turned on against him but also their rain machine. Thanks to his two incorrect answers with Opal. He met Grim on his side of the field either he liked it or not. "Opal was right, you weren't going to make it." Bede spoke in a y tone. "You and your Pokemon did fight hard. But it's going to take a lot more than a few poison types, and what ever that charizard is, to beat me." He told Grim. Even Bede couldn't deny that Grim had fought well, it just wasn't enough to defeat the fairies trained by Opal and Bede. He started to walk away before turning back to comment again. "You better do some major training before you come back." He told him which was actually some advise give wrapped in a smug tone. However he glanced to the side lines and his smug expression faded as he added one final comment. "Oh yeah... And Opal says you wouldn't be able to win until you wore pink to the battle..." He added much less enthused before he made his exit.

Grim once again stood in front of the fairy type gym, his head reeling as he remembered his last defeat. Opal was right, you weren't going to make it. The words from the gym leader had stung, but something in Grim rebelled at the idea that they were right. His pokemon had trained hard, and a few new members had joined him. It was time to test themselves once more, and hopefully wipe that smirk off Bede's face.
Grim entered the Gym and headed straight for the change-rooms. There he changed into his outfit for the match, a set of clothes mostly to humor the old Opal, but also because he really didn't care what he wore, so why not? He pulled on a tight dark purple muscle shirt and a pair of styled grey jeans with pink accents to start. Then he snapped on a pair of purple wrist-cuffs and a purple choker to go with it. Lastly, he pulled on a soft pink hoodie with a purple mesh hood to complete the outfit. Lets see her complain about his lack of pink now.
After checking himself out in the mirror and finding the colors didn't look as odd on himself as he had thought, being a man that mostly wore black, he headed out and was led to the little house once more. It was finally time to begin. He entered with confidence and approached the stage, smirking as the familiar voice came from the seats.
"Oh my, I see your sense of style has improved, lets see if your pokemon have too!" With that the first gym trainer stepped forward and the challenge began.
"Pop quiz! What do people call me?"
"The wizard."
"Correct! You've done your research I see! Next question, how did I become the gym leader?"
"You inherited it."
"Correct! Last question, what did I eat for supper?"

"Come on now, you seem to know so much about me~"

He healed them up before being led to the battlefield where he would face off once again against Bede. Standing out on the field, Grim's confidence wavered a little until he felt a tug on his leg and looked down to see Luckett staring up at him.
"Leaf." He didn't need to be able to understand Luckett to know what his point was. Grim needed to relax. If they lost, well... they would just keep trying until they got it. Right?

Grim respectfully dipped his head to Bede as he accepted the fairy badge and clipped it into the ring pinned to the inside of his hoodie.
"Thank you." He mulled over the other male's words as he made his way off the battlefield and back into the gym lobby, knowing Bede was right that it would take a lot more than this to take on Marnie. His pokemon had grown strong in the time they had spent together, but not nearly strong enough for the next gym. It seemed it was back to training for them.
He stopped and took a moment to stretch his tense muscles before heading out into the night, already thinking of his next step. Fairy and grass types would be at a disadvantage this time around, meaning his partner Luckett would have to sit this one out. Ground and psychic would be his best bet... making his new Rhydon extra useful, however the pokemon would need help. None of his other pokemon seemed a good match, meaning he was going to have to do some research on Marnie's specific pokemon as well as probably catch some new recruits.
Well, no time like the present to get started! With that, he did something he had never tried before and released Tokumei before climbing onto her back warily. For a moment, he thought the Charizard was about to throw him off, but surprisingly she merely huffed before taking flight, testing his trust of her as they shot into the sky towards Hulbury, Grim clinging on for his life.
