History:
Lirio grew up and was born in Azalea Town to the town’s master apothecary Lily Mushikaze (maiden name Hanada) and a traditional garden landscaper by the name Eden Mushikaze. When younger, the three of them had a relatively humble home as his parents were just beginning to hone their crafts to renowned levels of expertise. As Lirio grew up, so did his parents’ skills. During his early childhood years, they often both were quite busy with many people needing their attention as they become more known across the region. As such, he was often left to his own devices to explore their small, but well-cared-for yard along with the nearby Ilex Forest. It was here that he grew his love of plant and bug type Pokemon as well as a general fondness for the natural world. Once he became old enough to help with his parents’ work, he was kept busy, having less time for his own devices. Still, he took great enjoyment in this as he was able to see his parents more and could learn what they knew. It wasn’t until Lirio began to near the age of becoming a trainer that his parent’s realized they had become far too busy for their own son and that he may very well leave them without knowing much about them. As such, around the time he was nine and a half, his parents made major organizational changes to their business. They stopped making house calls unless deemed an emergency by his mother, in which case they would all go on the call. They refused invitations to large gatherings to praise their craft. They even moved into a smaller, more humble home to represent their new business practices. Lily and Eden’s goal was to make their practice more like a family business so they could all spend time together. While the three of them remained busy enough, they shared much more time together and were happier overall. Lirio ended up forgetting about going on a journey when he turned 10, enjoying being able to spend time with his family he missed out on when younger. When people asked him why he hadn’t left on his own journey, he’d often say it was because his parents needed him to run their business. In actuality though, it was more that he needed them to give him the love he secretly craved when he was younger.
His main Pokemon, Sewaddle, was something of a miracle for Lirio. He received the egg from Burgh, a gym leader Lirio highly respects. Lirio was 16 at the time and was considering starting his Pokemon journey after delaying it for so long, feeling he needed to hone his skills and help his family with their local shop. Burgh was on a Johto trip searching for inspiration for his newest art exhibition. During his time in Azalea Town, Burgh happened to meet Lirio when the gym leader stopped by their shop for some medicine needed by an injured Pokemon Burgh found in Ilex forest.
Rather than simply give the requested medicine, something generic, to the customer, Lirio insisted on examining the Pokemon to see if it needed anything stronger or more specific. Burgh, admitting he did not know much in the realm of apothecary, led the teen to the injured Pokemon. When the two arrived, Lirio saw an ill Heracross that was being tended to by the gym leader’s Leavanny the best it could. Being careful not to move in a manner that would startle the sick Pokemon, Lirio examined it to see what was wrong with it. Unfortunately, the illness was worse than initially thought, which Lirio informed Burgh of. Lirio gave the Pokemon a particularly strong medicine made of Paras mushrooms and Petilil nectar, the second to make it more palatable for the sweet-toothed Pokemon. Burgh and Leavanny watched with curiosity at the care Lirio gave the Pokemon. Lirio told Burgh the Heracross would need medicine for the next few days, but that he would ensure it got the medication.
Lirio checked on the Heracross the next few days, returning to the spot where it lay virtually immobile from the illness. What he didn’t know was that Burgh and Leavanny stayed in town during those days and watched from the shadows as Lirio cared for the Pokemon daily. After three days, the Heracross was healthy again and was able to return to the wild. As Lirio was leaving Ilex forest on this final day, Burgh and Leavanny stopped him near the edge of the forest. Burgh, amazed by the care given to the wild Pokemon, gave Lirio an egg, which would later hatch into a Sewaddle.
Burgh told Lirio that he need only wait for the egg to hatch and he would be ready to start his Pokemon journey. Burgh also praised Lirio, stating how impressed he was at the care he gave to the wild Pokemon and the skill of his craft. Burgh left Azalea Town later that day, having seen what he wanted to inspire his next art piece. A few weeks later after Burgh’s Johto trip was over, Lirio saw Burgh’s exhibition online. He was surprised to see one piece, titled ‘Distress and Healing,’ was of a green-haired boy caring for a Heracross in a forest. The description of the piece read, ‘Sometimes, we need help on the journey of life.’ Lirio was moved by this and humbled at being the subject of the gym leader’s art. He knew it was nearly time to start his journey as he moved to rub the nearby egg given to him. The next morning, the egg hatched, and Lirio told his parents it was time he set off for New Bark Town.
Appearance/Physical Description:
[/li]Lirio is slim teen of average height. His hair is a deep forest green color in the style of a swept-back mohawk. His hair, from certain angles, is reminiscent of a slender leaf due to a combination of its slickness, style, and color. Although not muscular, he is toned, but this often goes unnoticed due to the boxy, green, long-sleeve shirt he wears for work and treks in the forest. He loose, black harem pants as well as black and white outdoors boots. His hands are typically covered by his black and white gardening gloves. He wears green sports glasses that make his eyes look like those of a bug Pokemon with the way his eyebrows poke out of the top of them. Depending on the day, he will also wear a white, straw hat similar in appearance to a fedora. Although, Lirio is more inclined to wear this hat on official business matters for customers to cover his hair. Due to all of this covering, his skin is surprisingly fair despite doing a decent amount of work outside.
