He loves Pokemon, and tries to help any Pokemon he comes across, whether wild or if they already have a trainer.
History: Brian was born and raised in Littleroot Town, Hoenn. When his parents were younger, his mother, Allison, was a Coordinator, and his father, Adam, challenged the Hoenn League, though he didn't win. Thus, Brian has a bit of both worlds, as his parents taught him what they knew of both battling and contests. His father was also aspiring to become a great Breeder, and Brian grew up learning to be a Breeder from his father. Allison also took up the title of Breeder after she married Adam.
When his parents had to leave the house for longer than an hour or two, they would leave him in the care of his mother's Lucario, Abby. Thus, he formed a bond with the Steel/Fighting-type as a sort of second mother. His grandfather on his mother's side would also visit quite often, and the man was well-known among family and friends for his strong bond with his Pokemon. The man would spend most of his visits teaching Brian how to work as a team with his Pokemon, though Brian was still too young to have any Pokemon of his own at the time.
When Brian was around five, his parents noticed that the Pokemon he was interacting with seemed to gravitate naturally toward the boy, and they wondered why. They were surprised when a timid young Poochyena they'd been raising warmed up to the boy right from the start. The Dark-type wouldn't come anywhere near the two of them, yet Brian had no trouble gaining the Poochyena's friendship. His parents realized that Brian might do well as a Breeder, and when he was a few months shy of turning ten, they started teaching him how to properly care for Pokemon, both hatched and eggs.
When Brian was fifteen, he was exploring the forests surrounding his parents' house and stumbled across an injured Mawile. This, in itself, was surprising, as Brian knew that Mawile weren't generally seen in the area. Perhaps it was the connection he had with Pokemon that allowed him to get close enough, though he wasn't entirely sure. He wondered what had happened as he looked over the Steel/Fairy-type's injuries, and he knew the Mawile needed help. So he ran to get his parents, who followed him to where he'd left the Mawile. The Steel/Fairy-type allowed his parents to treat her injuries, then vanished into the forest.
A few months later, Brian was helping his parents tend to a sick Zigzagoon when he heard something approaching, and he turned from what he was doing to see the Poochyena he'd befriended, who was now a Mightyena, running toward them, barking. Wondering what was wrong, he followed the Dark-type a short distance away, to a shallow hole in the base of a tree. Kneeling down and peering into the hole, Brian was surprised to see a Pokemon egg. He wondered what it was doing there, and decided not to touch it just yet. From the way the Mightyena was acting, the egg had been there for a while, but Brian wasn't taking any chances, wanting to see if the mother Pokemon would return for it.
Over the course of the next several days, Brian kept an eye out to see if any Pokemon would come to claim the egg, but none did. Finally, after nearly a week, he realized the egg had likely been abandoned, and decided to raise the egg on his own. His parents were surprised when he showed it to them, but agreed to let him raise it, provided he let them give the Pokemon inside a check-up when it hatched. Brian agreed, and only a few weeks later, the egg hatched into a Mawile that wound up bonding with his mother, despite Brian being the one to hatch it.

As he got older, he decided he wanted to go on a journey. He'd heard stories of his parents' time traveling and wanted to follow in their footsteps and see what the world had to offer. His first stop would be Professor Birch's lab, but that was only after his mother made sure he spent at least a few years learning how to cook, both for himself as well as his Pokemon, and that he had basic medical knowledge, in case something happened where he was injured while traveling.
Appearance/Physical Description: Brian is somewhat short for his age, standing only 5'8". He has unruly ebony hair that doesn't like to lie flat, no matter what he does to it. His eyes are a bright, almost electric green. He has a scar on his right arm from where he accidentally spooked a wild Meowth during a trip to Kanto with his parents when he was four. When asked about it, he will say that he learned a valuable lesson that day, and that was what first inspired him to become a trainer. He carries his supplies in a large hiking/camping pack, and he has a wooden ocarina that he carries with him, as well, as he's found that many Pokemon like the sound of music, depending on the instrument played.
