The second Pokemon had been far stronger than the first one, but luckily Oshawott was fast and Icy Wind was very good against.. whatever that thing was. After the second one fled, Velvet decided the best thing to do would be to hunker down and heal up her Pokemon as best as she could with what few supplies were available here. Unfortunately, her poor Applin would be down until she could find some kind of revival item, but Oshawott had a few potions and seemed good to go. Pidove was still fairly fresh, but Velvet wasn't as confident in Pidove's fighting ability yet, so it would remain to be seen if he would see any use here or not. It was hard to ration supplies like this but Velvet figured she'd just cross her fingers and keep a good eye out for anything useful as they continued to travel. Still, there was no sign of other people or trainer's Pokemon around that she or Oshawott could detect, so they decided to move to the next area. {Post Info} Tickets: 6 34/5 Wild Pokemon 9/25 Revival Herb 50/50 Turtwig Egg 73/25 NPC Travel 3/3

Quinn looked around in the glove compartment of the car for supplies as well as in the back of it. Unfortunately, the only thing she found was a laminated map of the island, but nothing else. “Well, it seems like there is nothing useful in here besides this map… Though, it is a bit hard to use without a good way of getting our bearings first. Great,” Quinn began, clearly annoyed at the situation they were in, “Let’s see if we can get this car moving at least since it seems to still have power considering the screen is still on. I may need your assistance, Lux.” Quinn began to fiddle with the wiring of the car after pulling out some of the paneling. Lux hopped to the front from the back to at least shine light onto Quinn’s work since it was quite dark where they were due to the dense storm clouds and forest canopy. “Lux, I need you t-” Quinn began, intending to ask him to shock the vehicle for a moment to give it a boost. However, she stopped the request halfway through remembering that the island had dampeners on Pokemon, keeping them from using moves and similar actions. “Surely those would also have gone out too with everything else, right?” She thought to herself, “Lux, please attempt to shock these wires here I connected.” Lux was eager to do as commanded, but, upon trying to complete the request, only sparks flew from his antennae a short distance. He gazed upon them in disappointment. “It is as I suspected… Everything else seems to not be working except for the Pokemon dampeners. I guess we may be able to use that to our advantage if we encounter some of the island residents. This is still a frustrating and dangerous situation though,” Quinn said in her annoyed state before addressing Lux, “Thank you, Lux, I know you tried your best. Please continue to shine light for me to finish my work. Thankfully, these vehicles aren’t terribly high-tech or complex compared to normal vehicles.”{Party (Active)}

Lux lit Quinn’s work area as she asked. Sakura looked on in wonder, but seemed to be a bit nervous about the situation. Cyan kept watch over the area but did not seem pleased by this situation either. Quinn fiddled with the inner workings of the car a bit longer before she connected two final wires and the car jolted back to life. “This should be good now, and we can even go full speed. The lack of speed from this vehicle would have made things difficult moving forward,” Quinn announced, giving herself a verbal pat on the back for fixing the car up to adequate standards. She hopped back into the front seat of the car and began to drive down the path they were already on at a moderate speed. She wanted to get back to the main entrance, but also realized it would be a while till they could get back. Once they made it to a small clearing in the forest, Quinn decided to stop to see if she could figure out where exactly they were on the path and if her X-transceiver worked. Unsurprisingly, the service in the area was also down, presumably due to power failures. Thankfully, the clearing was just large enough that it seemed to have been noted on the map. She surveyed the map further before scowling, “It appears we are practically at the deepest part of the herbivore sanctuary, meaning it’ll take us some time to get back to areas where we are likely to find other people. Though, I suppose that also means we are hopefully less likely to find Pokemon disturbed by the sudden power outage. The darkness from the dense canopy will make it difficult to navigate without being able to see much of the area around us, even with the paths. I suggest we try to gather some food together in case we end up running into unexpected delays on our way back.”

Quinn and her Pokemon surveyed the inside of the jeep for anything they could use. To their surprise, it had an emergency kit which included some torches and a blanket, amongst other supplies. Quinn packed away the torches into her bag before securing the car. The jeep was empty beyond the emergency kit and map found earlier, but the blanket definitely would make things cozier for all of them should they need to camp out in the car. “Alright, now that we have that settled, we should head out. It occurred to me that in our haste to survey the entire island, I forgot to have us stop for food before everything started to shut down. Sorry, everyone…” Quinn began, realizing how hungry she actually was and how hungry her Pokemon must have been too, “We have only a few torches, but I think the best course of action would be to light one and leave it here at the jeep and not go beyond sight from it while using another one to light our path. Normally, Lux would be our leading light, but it seems the dampeners are also restricting innate abilities to an extent, which is quite problematic for us... The label says the torches last for about 2 hours each, so that should be plenty of time for us to find something nearby. I would much rather we stay together in case something happens rather than saving a torch to have Lux as our home base beacon.” Cyan, Lux, and Sakura nodded in agreement and began to follow Quinn. Quinn lit two torches and secured one to the top of the car before leading her Pokemon through the undergrowth of the forest. She also set a timer on her X-transceiver for an hour and forty-five minutes to make sure they headed back before the torch ran out. Quinn took up the front, followed by Cyan beside her, with Lux riding on Sakura’s second mouth behind the others to have eyes behind them and a way to counterattack if they needed it. Quinn began by walking in a straight line to find out just how far they could go before they could no longer see the other torch, glancing back occasionally to confirm sight of it. After figuring that out, she began to circle back around the torch and focused more on finding food.

They walked for a bit until Quinn noticed something hanging from a nearby tree that seemed promising as food. She raised her torch to light the object more and was pleased to see that they were Sitrus berries and not wild Pokemon of some kind. “Cyan, can you climb up and drop fruit down to the rest of us?” Cyan obliged and deftly moved through the tree’s canopy, tossing fruit down as he went. Lux, Sakura, and Quinn gathered what they could before Cyan came back down and grabbed some himself. The group then began to walk back to the car, though Quinn couldn’t help but feel uneasy. Though typically confident and poised, she considered their lack of conflict in grabbing the fruit despite the apparent chaos of the island to be too fortunate, putting her a bit on edge. They quickly made it back into the safety of the car and enjoyed their fruit together. A few moments later, the rain began to pour down and Quinn was relieved they made it back inside before it came down. The rainclouds made even the clearing they were in much darker and thunder occasionally roared in the distance. As the rain came down, Quinn looked at the map for a bit to try to figure out where they were again, using Lux’s dimmed lights for vision. She seemed to have a good idea of the route they would need to take, but that was all assuming the paths were not blocked by something or that they didn’t have any unwelcome encounters. The group took this time to relax since Quinn knew they probably would not get more downtime in the near future. Suddenly, the sound of metal collapsing on itself along with some electricity sparks bellowed across the area, breaking the momentary peace the group had. After a few moments of silence, as they all stared at each other, Lux’s lights began to brighten to their normal colors, as did the rest of his body. “If that sound was what I think it was, the ability dampeners must have finally given out…” Quinn thought aloud.

“Lux, can you try to give the car a bit of an electric shock to boost its power?” Quinn requested, trying to test out her hypothesis. Lux did as told and had no difficulty in zapping the screen of the car, bringing the mostly non-functional devices in the car back to life. “That confirms that, meaning Cyan and Sakura also have their normal powers back. This would make it easier if we get into trouble, but this also means that anything we encounter will be back to full strength too… We better watch out-” Quinn said before a sharp noise interrupted her. To the shock of everyone, a new loud noise bellowed across the area. This time, it sounded like radio static at first before a broken string of words came through, presumably over the barely-functioning PA system. Despite being garbled, Quinn recognized the voice as that of Grace. Grace sounded afraid as the broken words came through telling everyone to head to the main entrance. Then, silence again beside the occasional thunder from the storm. Quinn’s Pokemon looked at her to await their next actions. “I’m getting us out of here. We have to get back to the main gate, as Grace said. Everyone, brace yourselves,” Quinn said before setting the car into gear and speeding off through the jungle.

As they drove through the forest, Quinn began to explain the plan to her team, “With the extra boost of energy to the car, it seems the navigation system is working again. According to the map on the screen, we are near the edge of the herbivore and carnivore sanctuaries. While far from the main entrance, it isn’t as far as it could have been if we made it all the way to the carnivore area, probably less dangerous too. If we drive directly to the main entrance, it shouldn’t take us too long to get back assuming there are no obstructions on our path. That being said, there probably will be at least one thing that blocks our path along the way, so we’ll have to stay vigilant. Innate abilities not being dampened anymore could prove useful but also dangerous for us. We have no clue what creatures are loose here on the island and I’d rather not stick around to find out in these conditions. We’ve been lucky so far, but who knows when that luck will run out. Stay alert!” Quinn and crew didn’t get very far before something flashed across her mind. It was hard to discern at first, but it was like a shrill cry that got clearer after a brief moment. Quinn made the car lurch to a stop as best she could in the muddy terrain. “Did you all hear that?” Her Pokemon looked at her with confusion, but Quinn knew what she had heard. It seemed to both come from within her head and outside of it from the opposite direction they needed to go, in the direction of the carnivore sanctuary. “I heard something crying out…” Quinn paused, calculating her next move. She knew it may be a trap considering the many unknown dangers on the island along with the fact it seemed to be trying to call her in the opposite direction they needed to, still, Quinn couldn’t help but think that something needed her help. Knowing it’ll probably get them into trouble, Quinn sped the car around towards the carnivore sanctuary and away from the island’s main hub that Grace told them all to go to. The already puzzled looks on her Pokemon’s faces intensified, “I know this is probably a bad idea, but we have to go somewhere else first. We will still make it to where Grace told everyone to get to.” Cyan nodded to the other two before they nodded back in agreement. They trusted Quinn and knew she would get them out of this situation safely. They all had each other to rely on after all.
