Name: Kana Aroway
Gender: Male
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 180 lbs
Age: 35
Birthday: November 22
Home Town: Nimbasa City, Unova
Orientation: Pansexual
Likes: Roses, coffee, researching regional myths and legends, being anywhere high up with a nice view, forests, spending time with his family, exploring new places
Dislikes: Being rushed, seeing his siblings upset, overconfidence, rain, mistreatment of Pokemon, Teams
Fears: Losing his family, being asked to make sense of any of his sister's project notes
Goals/Dreams:
Become a better person.
See his family thrive.
Avoid further dealings with Team Plasma
Skills:
Cooking. His twin is a picky eater. He learned to make the foods she would consistently eat and it turned into something close to a hobby from there. He will never pass up an opportunity to learn a new dish.
Fighting. He's surprisingly quick and flexible. What he lacks in formal training he makes up for in scrappiness and an incredibly high pain tolerance.
Singing. Apparently decent singing voices run in the family because Kana is great at it. He also enjoys it. He sings or hums to himself whenever he's in a decent mood.
Crochet. It's one of his favorite ways to kill time.
In great physical shape. Climbing and swimming are among some of his favorite activities.
Status: Former member of Team Plasma. Trainer.
Favorite Types: Dragon, Fighting, Psychic, Steel
Least Favorite Types: Fairy, Normal
Personality:
Kana is incredibly strong-willed, which often leads to reckless and impulsive behaviors. Unless something happens to effect his Pokemon or someone with him, he won't put much thought- if any- into his actions. Calling him self-destructive wouldn't be a stretch. He can be more than a little bit snarky at times. Sarcasm is a second language for him. He also has a bit of a temper. While he's gotten a lot better about keeping it under control, it can still be problematic. Recklessness and anger are not a good combination.
It isn't all bad though. He's fairly laid back when it comes to interacting with other people. If he starts to like someone he turns into a giant golden retriever. He's playful, silly, and fiercely loyal. When it comes to his siblings- especially his sister- he's overprotective. He'll go out of his way to ensure they're both safe and happy. Though this can sometimes get him into trouble. He's hesitant to share anything he feels might upset them so he'll try to keep things a secret for as long as he possibly can. Lying is something he's become rather good at and he isn't exactly proud of that fact.
History:
Who's ready for Storytime With Kana?! My sister already covered everything about our childhood so we're going to skip over that today. That's way too depressing anyway. Today we're going to start with...ah! I know! Let's start from what happened after we got settled in Unova!
As you already know, my sister went on to become a doctor. Awesome, right?! She's definitely the smart one. I'm so proud of my baby sis- Oh. Me? I was a little shit. School was easy enough but dealing with other students...that was a challenge. Elle closed herself off and focused on her studies. I tried to adapt to interacting with humans. That didn't exactly go well. It's a wonder I wasn't expelled given how many fights I got into in the first few years...Anyway! Practice makes perfect and all that noise, I got better at being a person before I started high school!...What?...Okay, fine! There might a few more incidents but I swear it was justified. It was there own faults for messing with Elle...Overprotective? I am not!...as much as I used to be. Asking my Jynx and Saiphe to babysit her is perfectly reasonable! She hadn't left her lab in years!
Let's get back on track. School wasn't great but I managed to graduate! Elle went off to college and took Walter along with her. Saiphe and I were left on our own! So what did we do? I worked in retail for about a year before realizing that being a Pokemon trainer actually paid better. Seriously! A ten year old can win one battle and make twice what I did in two weeks! Saiphe and I had no real interest in taking the Gym Challenge. We just wanted to battle others and explore Unova. It worked out pretty well for a while! We picked up some more team members along the way and see the region!
Aaaaand then I made the single biggest mistake of my life. You know that feeling where you're listening to a villain speak in a story or movie and they start making a lot more sense than you'd like to admit? Yeah. I know that feeling a bit too well because I ended up joining the bad guys after witnessing one of Team Plasma's rallies. Liberating Pokemon sounds fantastic at first but the more time you spend with the group the less it feels like they actually practice what they preach. So...yeah. I was with Team Plasma...waaaaay longer than I'd like to admit. And my younger siblings have no idea!...I know, I know. I should have told Elle and Walter ages ago. We had no idea how to even begin to approach that particular topic so Saiphe and I decided to keep it between us. What they didn't know couldn't hurt them, right?
Here I should probably mention one of my hobbies. Researching regional lore is fun for me. I love to learn about the different myths and legends around the world. Pair that with experience exploring and my above average physical condition and I'm qualified to be sent off to other regions to try to help any bases established in them! Paldea happened to be one of those regions. The base I had been sent to managed to get their hands on a couple of unique Pokemon and I was part of the group tasked with figuring out what exactly they were. They'd of had better luck reading Occulture to learn about them. I had already been set to leave the Team but my time in Paldea sealed it for me. Only I didn't plan on leaving alone. The Pokemon in their "care" were more metal than anything else and I have a little sister that's great with tech. Maybe they could find a proper home with her. Soooo...I maybe...stole their Pokemon on the way out.
Look, we've already established that I'm kinda dumb. What were they going to do, call the cops on me? They weren't even treating those Pokemon well after they had written them off as machines. I was only "liberating" them from some terrible trainers.
So that's the story of how I landed myself in hot water with a Team and why I'm no longer able to go anywhere near my home region!...What happened after that? Well, the first thing I did was set up a silly little quest to get my sister to leave her lab for the first time in forever. Why? Where do I even begin...I can't take care of her anymore for one. Not until I can actually return to Unova. And she interacts with different Teams regularly to take care of their injured Pokemon. That would have left her wide open to Team Plasma taking anything that should be directed towards me out on her instead. Leaving Unova would be good for her no matter what. She can't stay locked up in her lab forever.
As for me, I sent one of the Pokemon I acquired to my sister and decided to make myself scarce. That one needs a lot of work but I'm a little bit hoping she can maybe...reprogram it? I'm not even going to pretend to know how robot Pokemon work. I kept the other one. It seems to like me. Or tolerate me at any rate. I've relocated to Hoenn for now and I'm going to try doing this whole Pokemon trainer thing right this time! I'd like to make some of the stories I told my siblings about my life true.
Appearance/Physical Description:
Kana has dyed black hair. His natural color is orange. While the shade is darker than his twin's hair it still makes blending in a little more difficult than he'd like. As much as he would like to keep the natural color, attracting unnecessary attention isn't ideal for him.
Kana is muscular but in no way bulky. He keeps his body toned through regular exercise. He's covered in scars that he tries to keep hidden to the best of his ability. Some where caused by fights. Most were caused by pure recklessness.
