Weaknesses - Electric type Pokemon/Electricity - A challenge - His own reckless behavior and confidence - Innate curiosity and iness - The fear of loosing what's left of his physical body - His captain's authority
Appearance At a staggering height of almost six feet tall, Phineas can very easily fit into the cliche of a 'swimmer's body'. He has a good weight to him which aids in his phyiscal labour, but despite this, his over all stature is lean and almost slender. His shoulders are broad and his chest is well defined, which melds into the T shape of his body down to his hips and legs. Finn does well to keep himself active and in top shape knowing that his 'profession' is very phyiscally demanding, and cannot be hindered by any lack of strength, stamina, or anything else of the sort. Spending as much time outside and in the blarring sun as he does, Finn's skin bears the marks of this with an almost permanent tan and a few sun spots, though his dark brunet hair has not gotten any lighter in this time. Finn's hair is moderately long, coming just below his shoulders, but he usually keeps it tied up out of the way of his face, and sometimes a sash around his head to keep his bangs in place. His hair frames a chiseled, though average featured, face with a wide set pair of striking green thin almond shaped eyes. Along with a wide mouth and thin lips, an average sized and pointed nose and a defined jaw line, Phineas' features don't necessarily give him any sort of definition of unapproachable or uninviting, but he can have a mean look about him when he is bothered by something. On a most basic level in perhaps watching Finn walk down the street, it can be quite easy to tell that he is not exactly from your every day society. He usually dons a wardrobe of brown fitted waist breeches, black boots, and a loose fitting thin white shirt with laces going up the chest. He's never exactly had a variety of clothing, always having to travel light and simple with his possessions, but does well to keep himself clean and groomed like any respectable man should. Amongst the scars that cover a good amount of Finn's body from his many endeavors out on the open sea, there is a very prominent scar that covers the most of the left side of his torso, also known as a fractal scar. Finn doesn't necessarily try to keep it hidden, but it is the mark of his death and a cruel reminder of what he is in the world. It stems from his heart down just past his ribs on the front and back of his torso, over his shoulder and just down to his elbow on his left arm.
Personality If one were to summarize Phineas into just a few words, reckless, undissiplined, and bold might be the best words to describe him. While in his early years he wasn't as such, he had grown into a very confident, and very curious young boy which accounted for his living conditions for the next ten years of his life. Finn, while used to taking orders, sometimes takes his own spin on things in order to get something done, or really just messes it up entirely. He is very reckless and careless with how many near death experiences he's gotten himself into, and the amount of trouble that he's always gotten into with his captain, but his care free attitude helps with that, in being able to dismiss even the harshest of words. Whether it's a security for him to aid in his self endangerment, or he really just doesn't care is still a mystery to even himself, but he's gone along with it for quite some time now, so why stop? Having seen death among his crew members more times than he would like to recount, he came to understand at an early age that one's life can change in an instant, and even though the situations he gets himself into can lead to just that, he doesn't want to miss out on anything, in a sense, trying to live life to it's fullest before his might be over. Despite his free wheeling, y, and danger prone exterior, Finn is actually quite intelligent. Even from an early age he thoroughly enjoyed learning, specifically about things of the past and pieces of history, and for whatever reason, albeit his drastic change through his later years, his thirst for knowledge never left him. He will go out of his way to skim through a book that caught his interest, or listen to a lecture going on about history or what not, which too has also gotten him in trouble countless times with his crew and captain since he has belayed them in their travels on more than one occasion. Albeit his dangerous lifestyle and the trouble he causes his captain and crew, Finn is loyal to a fault which is one of the best qualities about his lifestyle. His loyalty and trust is something that will always put others in his highest interests, but one would do well not to trifle with such things. He has a high respect for authority even though he may not show it much and will always carry out an order that he is given by his captain, and will sometimes even go the extra mile to do so. This has built a sort of necessity in Finn's life to always complete something he's been given to do or has set out to do with a determination that can go unmatched most of the time. Though his loyalty and determination are among his top priorities, these can be easily out weighed by his morality, however strange a sense to those not from his life style it might be. Living a pirate's life and living by their code of conduct has given Finn an immense amount of morality and a very different way of how he conducts himself in his life. Cheating and lying are among the most dishonorable things a man can do in these terms, and so Finn does well to keep things fair and honest. He will not fight someone incapable or unarmed and only for a reason of defense or honor or something of the sort, will not gamble or make bets on anything, and is very selective of who he might steal from. Call him a sort of robin hood if you will, but Finn will not steal from anyone who needs what they have. He would sooner steal from someone living comfortably in a mansion than someone who is scraping together to buy their next meal, and even though this might look like he's only trying to go for the bigger target, he likes to think that this choosing adds to his morality. Over all, Finn is social and will strike up a conversation with anyone who will listen, usually going on to tell one of his riveting stories about his feats of bravery and skill, or the time he took on a band of team aqua grunts with just half a sword and a coil of rope. He is confident, strong willed, passionate, and is not afraid to be who he is, even though he is afraid of what he is. It is not just the idea of only having a physical body, living without a soul that shakes him to his core, but the idea that he is essentially a crime against nature, an affront to the natural order of things. He defiled a man's greatest honor, to die fighting for what he knew was right, and every day has to wonder where that puts him in the world. It wasn't fair for him to miss death when so many before him had never been so lucky, to get a second chance even though he might not have even really deserved it, and to know that he will walk the earth for the rest of his life, however short it may be, with that burden on his shoulders is something that weighs him down grately.
History Born to a small family in the floating city of Alto Mare, Finn's life was already being sculpted for him from day one. His fascination and intrigue with water came as no surprise living in such a water savvy town, having learned to swim at a very early age, and his interest in learning and knowledge came with having two museum curators as parents. His home life early on was quaint and pleasant, living on the outer edge of the city where he had easier access to the ocean and not just the canals that flowed through the city. His parents saw great things for him with his ever growing need to learn and see new things, so they actually wanted him to embark on a journey of his own when he came of age, but wanted to give him the necessary preparation he would need. They called Professor Oak in order to get him a starter early so he could build a bond with it before he left at the age of ten, and they were soon sent a Squirtle egg which they told the young boy of six to take care of. For the next few years, they were thick as thieves.
Finn and the black Squirtle he had named Vitus spent a decent amount of time doing little battles here and there with some of the local pokemon on Alto Mare, and even challenged a few trainers here and there, but he'd learned that that was a bad idea since they usually had better Pokemon. He needed to catch Pokemon for himself as far as he had gathered, so using an early skill in pick pocketing, which he had never been told was right or wrong, he got hold of a few Pokeballs here and there and managed to catch Pintel, his less than friendly and loyal, but never seemed to leave, Murkrow, and a Magikarp that would later evolve into one of his oldest companions. However, through 'training' as well as he could, Finn found an even greater interest in the Tour De Alto Mare that happened every year, and with his newly evolved Wartortle, at the age of eight, he started to enter into the race. His first year was a flop, he was the last to cross the finish line, five minutes after everyone else had, and from there he and Vitus spent day in and day out out on the water practicing their speed and ability to turn corners and what not, and come the next year at age nine, Vitus and Finn became the youngest Tour De Alto Mare winners. The year after, wishing he could enter in his newly evolved Gyarados, he and Vitus had won again, but their winnings were over shadowed by him becoming the age of ten, when it was time for him to leave for his journey. He almost didn't want to depart from his home, but the allure of seeing knew things and learning new things was too enticing for him to pass up, but little did he know he'd see and learn a lot more than he had ever bargained for as he and Vitus set off into the ocean to reach the Johto main land.
They were passing by a ship that was unbeknownst to them a pirate ship. He and Vitus, young and curious, came to the hull of the ship and made to climb aboard to see what there was to see, but before they could do anything to defend themselves, or before Finn could call out Thaedra, he and Vitus were fished up the rest of the way and on to the deck of the ship. The Wartortle fought, but was quickly subdued by one of the crew's Pokemon, and Finn had to make the decision between sparing his partner's life and becoming a lowly cabin boy for the crew for the rest of his life, or to be at fault for the end of them both since they were assumed to be little thieves trying to make a haul. He, to his dismay, ended up choosing the former.
For the next few years of his life, Finn did become the cabin boy for the ship, and after a few failed escape attempts, and more scars than he would like to account for, he learned his place early on in the hierarchy of the crew, and figured that it was probably better for him and Vitus if they just stayed put. They worked day in and day out, scrubbing, cleaning, cooking, working, doing anything and everything that the captain had bid them to do, and that began to build Finn's commitment with things and his insatiable need to complete tasks, otherwise he would have been punished. As time wore on though, the tasks got easier and the labor got less grueling because he was growing and growing used to the weight of the tasks he had set before him. He was growing used to the routine, and used to his new life, and at some point, was even starting to enjoy it as he realized just how much he had learned already in being on a ship. He'd already seen more of the world than he could have imagined in just leaving for a regular journey, learned more about these places than he would have just walking through them, knew how to take care of a ship, knew how to cook, knew how to do all of these things, and the knowledge was worth it. Eventually Finn had worked his way through the ranks of the crew from lowly cabin boy to the captain's own first mate at the age of sixteen, and from there his life was all he could ever ask for.
Despite his rankings, he still enjoyed doing the laborious tasks on the ships, raising the sails, moving through the masts, loading cannons, especially loading the cannons to fend off any team aqua freaks that they ran into on what seemed to be a more than frequent basis. The lunatics were always trying to integrate them into their crew for creating their new world order, but the captain was too smart for that, and they were sent off every time. Soon enough they were branded enemies of the sea, and any enemy of Team Aqua's was a friend of Team Magma's, another crew of loonies who were just as insane as the submarine fairing imbeciles. And then there was the actual formidable enemy, the captain's long time rival, a band of sky pirates and their platoon of air ships that could fly through the air and made a mockery out of the traditional way of travel. But Finn loved every time that they got too close to each other, for with his attained Salamence that he trained from a Shelgon he had caught in one of his inland stays, and a few other of his Pokemon like Vitus the mega blastoise, it was the time of his life to fend them off using their own home field against them, and with that Finn became a very prominent member in the crew, that was until his exploits started getting more and more reckless.
Having been given the privilege of first mate, Finn had kind of taken the position for granted without knowing it himself, and that had begun his present day iness and dismissiveness, but it wasn't until his later years at eighteen that it really started to take a toll. Sometimes he'd even go looking for a fight from the sky pirates and cost his crew some major damage, but it was all in good sport for him, even when he came back with a new set of scars. He started slacking on the ship and doing things on his own terms, and was becoming undisciplined as his captain scorned him time and time again. It got to the point where Finn started leaving the ship out on the open ocean, sometimes for days at a time with his Gyarados or other water or air fairing Pokemon, where eventually he was spending time with a Pokemon he had never thought he'd see in his life, a young Yveltal named Bade. While their first encounter almost ended with him and his Pokemon loosing their lives, the more and more Finn sent out to find her, the closer and closer the two got, though the dark type would never show affection towards the human, not outwardly of course. It got to the point where Finn could always feel her presence in the back of his mind, which allowed him to begin communicating with his Pokemon telepathically since Bade was so gracious to share her power with him, until one day he couldn't hear her any more, or any of his Pokemon for that matter.
He searched his mind for her connection, not frantically, but he had to worry even if their relationship was still on the rocks, and he had done so the entire day, almost getting Scarux to go out and look for her until he heard her voice, distressed and in pain, claiming that other flying humans had captured her. Finn knew at that moment what had happened, and was ready to go to war as he committed the equivalent of mutiny in convincing the crew that the captain's orders were to go after the enemy band of sky pirates.
There is little that Finn remembers about that day, but he does remember the initial scorning from his captain as the air ship had spotted them, the back lash he received via a nice slap to his face. He remembers the cannons being bared and the shots beginning to fire, and hearing Bade's screech somewhere above them. He took Scarux into the air to try and get up there to save her with Vitus in his claws beneath them firing at will and Archimedes at his aid. He remembers getting onto the air ship, though not the first time he had done so, but this time the sky pirates weren't going to have it with a victory on their hands, and the fight was on. His swords were at the ready, and he fought where he could, his Pokemon helping in any way that they could, attacking at anyone and anything. The cannons from his crew below had stopped, but he was still trying to get to Bade as he found the Yveltal struggling in confines, and he managed to release her, but not before her anger got the best of her and she blew out a hole in the air ship. They were getting ready to make their escape, when the last thing Finn heard was a piercing sound of electricity, and then everything went black.
Out in the open ocean, their dead trainer sprawled out on Vitus' shell, Bade lead them to a small patch of land to gain their composure. They were all exhausted and wounded, but nothing could compare to the dread that they were feeling as Finn's childhood companion laid his dead body on the ground. Bade could feel his life force leaving his body, the lighting that struck his heart had taken it's toll, but she wasn't going to let her only companion in the world slip away from her. She knew she wasn't the bringer of life, in fact, she was the opposite, and she knew that, but using what energy she could muster in her rage, she tried to put it into Finn's body, just hoping that nature would allow her this one gift. All seemed lost as Finn remained still on the ground, and together his Pokemon went back out into the ocean in search of their ship. Night had fallen, and Vitus was eventually being lifted onto the ship's hull with Finn's dead body dd over his shell, his shirt burnt off and a lightning scar branching over his left shoulder, down his chest, over his heart, down his left arm and down the left side of his back.
While it was his fault the crew suffered that day as they had, they mourned the loss of their first mate, and the captain the boy whom he had come to raise as his son. Bade had stayed out on that patch of land, feeling Finn's life slip away from her, but just as the crew was getting ready to set him off for a pirate's funeral to the sea, the boy came to with a heaving breath, sitting up and clutching his chest, feeling every ounce of pain that wracked his body and coughing as his chest filled up with air again. While some of the crew rumored him to be cursed, the captain thanked Arceus for bringing the life of his 'son' back to him, and for the next few days Finn spent his time recovering on the ship as he rekindled things with his Pokemon and Bade who stayed at a distance given the rest of the crew, but never left his mind since.
In those few days though, having come back out of death's grip itself, Finn couldn't help but find that things were different about him. He felt uncontrollably cold sometimes to the point that no amount of sun, or fire from Verasi could make his ice cold skin feel warm, but amongst other things, he was deathly abhorred to find that when he reached out his hand sometimes to grab something, he would go straight through it, or sometimes his feet weren't touching the ground. Finn reached out to Bade, asking what had happened to him, and after relaying the story of his death to him, and how she tried to save him, she confessed that she hadn't been able to save all of him. She wasn't a bringer life, she was a bringer of death, and what energy she had infused with his body couldn't save his soul, so in reality, he wasn't really living, he was half dead.
Having to come to grips with the fact that he wasn't technically amongst the living and keeping it a secret from his captain and crew the best that he could, upon his 'recovery', Finn was called by his captain. It came to pass that the old captain was marooning him by order of the crew for his actions of mutiny against the ship. He could tell it hurt the man to cast off one of his own like that, but he was stern about it and kept to their code, and didn't need another episode where his entire ship was put in jeopardy, and was taken under mutinous actions. Aghast at this, Finn had no other choice but to leave, and was then branded as an outcast by his crew. They took his Pokemon from him and only allowed him a loaf of bread, a cantine of water, and a pistol with one load as they left him off on an island far from the Hoenn mainland, but he wasn't going to take being marooned. He bid to Bade to come with him out into the world, and despite her reluctance she came with him, and after about a day or so of travel they found Vitus, Scarux, Thaedra, Pintel, and Archimedes out in the open ocean after having escaped from the ship, only knowing one captain in their lives.
Either not entirely certain of his being cast from the crew or refusing to accept it, Finn set out then to do what he had intended to do so long ago, become a Pokemon trainer. Though this endeavor could have none of it's perks that having been first mate of his crew could give him, Finn knew that if he could become stronger and earn his place back in his crew with discipline, learning, and control on his new life, then everything would be as it should be. And so it came to pass that Finn made his way to the Hoenn mainland in order to begin this menial journey.
Other: - Contrary to how he can come off, Finn is actually quite brilliant. He's learned a lot traveling all over the world - Finn keeps a journal and dedicates each page to a new place that he's visited. It is worn and tattered from many years of use, and the pages are filled with enormous amounts of information, but there's still room to continue, and he will get another journal if he has to - Finn is fascinated with and thoroughly enjoys history, philosophy, geography, and astronomy and has spent a great deal of time learning anything and everything that he could on these subjects, gaining different perspectives and different pieces of knowledge from all the places that he's visited - Because he is so interested in Astronomy, Finn is able to point out and find every constellation in the sky and knows their stories and history, a great past time that he enjoys at night - With being interested in geography as well, Finn is excellent at directions and navigation and knows how to read even the most complicated of maps, having never once been lost in his life - Though he's not the best at it, Finn enjoys tinkering with things to figure out how they work and trying to replicate things for himself, but he usually leaves that kind of stuff up to Archimedes - Finn is an avid reader of any book that he can get his hands on, if it holds his interest of course. Whenever he and his crew would land at a port, he'd take whatever books he could and hide away in a storage nook with a candle to read - He has a great sense of balance and an even greater sense of reading into people. Spending as much time around different people as he does whenever he lands at a port, he's found it a great past time to people watch and learn about body language and things of the like - Through the years, he has found a great passion in collecting signatures and dates from people that he's met all over the world, which now takes up an entire journal of it's own. He would like to collect other things, mementos, but he has to travel light - It has been ten years since Finn has seen his parents. While he's been to Alto Mare since being taken by the pirates, he's never been sure if they still live in Alto Mare, or are still alive to begin with. He hopes one day to visit and see them again, but isn't sure if he wants to go through that distant pain - Finn has seen every water type Pokemon at least once, keeping record of it in one of his journals, and has even seen Palkia, Kyogre, Suicune, Manaphy, and Keldeo, even though no one ever believes him - Having come out of death, it was definitely an eye opener for Finn, but on his exterior he isn't going to let it show. He's still confident and strong willed, and now has a drive past figuring out what to do without a soul in proving himself to his crew again, but he has a lot of things to sort out now that he technically isn't amongst the living and had pretty much gotten himself killed

Pirate Code of Conduct - Every pirate shall obey the Code. Anyone who fails shall be marooned on a desert island, and left ashore with a loaf of bread or hardtack, a bottle of water, and a pistol with one load. - The captain of a ship is to be elected by a majority vote of its crew. If any time a crew, with sufficient evidence, finds their captain to be lacking in ability or offensive in nature, a new captain may be freely elected amongst the ship's members. The captain shall be made aware of the situation and will graciously step aside, assuming another position on the crew. Failure to follow this procedure will be deemed mutiny. - Every man shall have an equal vote in affairs of moment - Every member shall have an equal share of fresh provisions, however they may be acquired, and may take pleasure in such provisions at will, except in times of scarcity. Until said scarcity is voted over, it is necessary for the common good of the crew to adhere to rations. Anyone who takes more than his equal share of provisions at any time shall be marooned. Any Pirate susceptible of eating any foodstuff rendered pernicious shall see the ship surgeon post haste. - Every man shall be called fairly in turn by the list on board of prizes, because over and above their proper share, they are allowed a shift of clothes. But if they defraud the company to the value of even one dollar in plate, jewels or money, they shall be marooned. If any man rob another he shall have his nose and ears slit, and be put ashore where he shall be sure to encounter hardships. - Any pirate who has suffered an injury from pillaging, plundering, hijacking, swashbuckling, or other pirate duties shall receive compensation for the wound from common stock. - In the event of the loss of a limb, the surgeon or carpenter may be able to restore lost appendages with what is best suited. Spare planks or other miscellaneous items found onboard may be rigged as a makeshift prosthetic. If injury is dehabilitating to the point of preventing a pirate from performing his duties as an able-bodied seaman, the quartermaster will provide a new assignment. Replacement limbs lost on duty should be compensated at no less than half-cost of natural limbs. - Each man shall keep his weapon, whether it be a cutlass, sword, pistol, or other piece, clean at all times and ready for action. - If a pirate is the first to locate a prize and should find among this plunder a weapon that is better than his own, he may take it as his own. The rest of the items will be chosen in turn with the captain first, master second, and so forth in seniority. Ship's musicians may lay claim to any instruments found among the spoils. - None shall strike another on board the ship, but every man's quarrel shall be ended on shore by sword or pistol in this manner. At the word of command from the quartermaster, each man being previously placed back to back, shall turn and fire immediately. If any man do not, the quartermaster shall knock the piece out of his hand. If both miss their aim they shall take to their cutlasses, and he that draweth first blood shall be declared the victor. - None shall game for money either with dice or cards. - Lights and candles must be suffed out of eight o'clock. If any man desires to drink after such time, he shall do so on the open deck without lights. - No man shall smoke tobacco in the hold without cap to his pipe or hold a candle without lantern shield. If he is discovered doing so, he shall receive such punishment as the captain and company see fit. - Every member of the crew shall be allowed one shift of clothes. These may be obtained by plundering, stealing, or borrowing. - If a pirate is captured by an enemy ship, he has the right to declare parlay, or temporary protection, until he may have an audience with the enemy captain. At this point, he cannot be harmed. Parlay is not considered concluded until said captives and captains have completed negotiations. - The captain shall have two shares of a prize. The quartermaster shall have one-and-three-quarter shares. The surgeon shall have one-and-one-half shares. The master gunner, carpenter, sailmaker, and boatswain shall receive one-and-one-quarter shares. All others shall have one share each. The company may vote to temporarily withhold the cook's share should his food kill a shipmate. - If any Man shall steal anything in the the value of a piece of eight, he shall be marooned or shot. - He that shall desert the ship or his quarters in time of battle shall be punished by death or marooning. - He who falls behind shall be left behind.
