It didn't take long for the new comer to give his answer, and with that Elm smiled. "Oh good, I'm glad you've already given it some thought," he mentioned with a nod of his head before he disappeared for just a moment in to another room, having just the right Totodile for this new trainer, and was glad to have it go out on it's journey. He moved about the room, gathering a few items before heading back to the young man, holding out the items for him to take. "Right then, that's a good choice. Here is your pokedex, and some potions and pokeballs to start you off, and this is the pokeball containing your Totodile," Elm spoke as he beamed with a smile beneath his glasses. OOC: Azzazell takes the pokeball containing his new totodile and says. "Thank you professor i appreciate it come on out Totodile." As he tosses the pokeball into the air and it opens to reveal a small female totodile. She looks up at him and lets out a soft cry and azzazell says. "Hello totodile my name is azzazell this is star and moon my partners and we'd like for you to come with us what do you say, star can you use your psychic to link us so i can hear what she thinks?" As he holds out his arms to totodile Stars eyes briefly glow and azzazell hears totodile say with a soft voice. "I'd like that ive always wanted to go on an adventure." As she hops into azzazell arms and gives a toothy grin. Azzazell smiles softly at her and says. "Good im glad you're gonna come with us, i dont want to just call you totodile tho what do you think about me calling you nerita?" Her grin gets wider and she says. "I like it thank you for choosing me and bringing me with you. He scratches her head gently and says. "You're welcome nireta, thank you again for nireta professor elm i'll be seeing you." It had been a few weeks since Burgh had visited Azalea Town and many things had happened since then. Lirio’s birthday passed, he saw Burgh’s art exhibition online featuring a piece with him as the subject, but most importantly, the egg he had been given by the gym leader hatched. The most recent event signaled it was time for Lirio Mushikaze to start his Pokemon journey after delaying it for so long. Burgh told Lirio that he would be ready to start his journey when the egg hatched and he felt that was true. The egg had only hatched yesterday and Lirio was filled with anticipation that both surprised and excited him. He used yesterday to get ready for his travels, packing his backpack with food, water, money, and other basic needs to last him at least until he could get to the next town. Naturally, he also packed some vials should he find anything interesting to put in them. His parents, although happy to see their son set out to do something for himself, were also saddened that they would not see him as often. However, they knew this day would come eventually and are glad it hadn’t come sooner. They all ate breakfast together as usual before they said their goodbyes. Neither of them are really the emotional type, but something about this departure almost brought them all to tears. Lirio reassured his parents and himself that Azalea Town wasn’t far from Newbark Town and he would be back soon. After saying goodbye, Lirio took a stroll through their lush garden, soaking in every detail as if it was the first time he had seen it. Calla, his baby Sewaddle, followed along not too sure what was going on but still happy to be involved. After this short walk, Lirio placed Calla on his head and stopped at a few places in town to say goodbye before leaving to Newbark Town. After a few days of travel, during each of which he made sure to check in with his parents, Lirio arrived in Newbark Town around late morning. Although he had never been there, it was easy to tell which building was Professor Elm’s lab as it was the largest building in the town. Lirio walked through the sliding doors of the building. Although he expected a sterile, machine-like smell in the place, it had an odor more reminiscent of a decently old library. After gazing around a bit, a man in a lab coat came up to him and greeted him in a cheerful tone. “Hello, young traveler! How can we help you today?” “I am here to request a Pokemon and Pokedex so that I may participate in the Johto League. If I may, I would like the Pokemon Chikorita,” Lirio replied, being a bit more formal than usual. “Ah! Right this way then, young man!” The man responded, gesturing for Lirio to follow him farther into the laboratory.

“No, sir, I believe I have an idea of where to begin, which involves collecting the first gym badge in Violet City. Of course, there are other things I want to do there and along the way too. Thank you very much for the Pokemon and supplies!” Lirio replied respectfully, walking towards the exit afterward. He had wished to meet his Pokemon before taking it from its previous home, but he knew the two would get along and it would adjust well. He decided to wait until he got out of the release the Pokemon from its Pokeball. Calla was sniffing at the Pokeball in his hand, clinging to Lirio’s wrist. “This is our new friend. You will meet them soon enough, Calla!” Calla, although still a baby and learning words, could tell that Lirio was happy about whatever was happening and therefore smiled back at him before crawling back to his shoulder. From this position, the Pokemon rubbed its head against Lirio’s cheek, prompting Lirio to pat her head with his free hand. As the two neared the sliding doors of the entrance, he noticed someone was outside but could not tell what their intent was. He decided it probably wasn’t something to worry about and proceeded to exit the lab. Curtis LhantOn a particularly cold and windy day in New Bark Town, a lone figure wandered around, in search of Professor Elm's lab, as instructed by Clair. This figure is Curtis, who is about to take the starting step for his Pokémon journey. Slowly walking up tot the doorstep, Curtis knocks on the door to Elm's lab and asks "Professor Elm, are you in right now? I was looking to receive a starter Pokémon, preferably a Cyndaquil if you have one." Curtis then patiently waits at the door for the professor to respond. |

CurtisIt had been a quiet morning thus far at the famed laboratory for Professor Elm, but somehow the good professor had a feeling he would see some new trainers coming in to begin their journies. It was one of his favorite parts of the job, being able to give new trainers that first step into the world, giving them the first stone to building the rest of their life, should they chose to take it of course. Elm wasn't surprised then to see a new face entering into the laboratory, requesting a Cyndaquil.
"Of course, of course! A Cyndaquil is a fine choice," Elm beamed, moving through the lab only momentarily before coming back to the trainer to be.
"Here is a few items to get you on your way too, and this Pokeball contains your new Cyndaquil," Elm relayed, handing out a small set of items.

It was rather unfortunate they had no better or faster way of reaching the New Bark Town. Maybe if Elain had two Flying Pokemons or a bigger one, they wouldn't be forced to waste time using a bus between Azalea and Violet, and then going on foot. But his uncle insisted this also 'builds character' and will prepare him for future travels, and so he bit down complains. They already knew complaining rarely pays off, positively at least.
The moment they arrived in the town, the first stop was by the Pokemon Center to drop his bag in there. Maybe it wasn't too much, with necessities and few clothes, but it was still better to go to the lab without it. Besides, it wasn't really early and they were tired from the travel, so the last thing today Av wanted to do was to get the starter and then rest. Tomorrow was another day, and Elain assured him there will be trains available as well.
As he left the other man behind in the Pokemon Center, Avalon made his way to Professor Elm's lab. They were warned he was a bit scatter-brained and disorganized, and such they should be a little patient with him to get work done. He wasn't sure how much he can muster it, given he was already pretty tired, but he also didn't want to lose his chance. Sure, he might try with other Pokemon professor, but that would be ridiculous. Either way, not wanting to delay any longer, he first knocked on the door and then entered the building anyways.
The inside looked fairly normal, maybe with some papers lying there and there. Well, the professor wasn't called 'disorganized' for nothing, apparently. But he wasn't going to comment on that anyways.
"Professor Elm? Are you still available?" he called, hoping the man in question or one of his aides will hear him. "Sorry if I'm late, but I came to ask if I can take a Cyndaquil."
That was an easy choice. Totodile would be fine too, and Chikorita looked a bit silly, but Cyndaquil seemed like the right option. And it was kind of cute. Hopefully Tiamat won't mind it."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

sharkeepEver active, the laboratory nestled in the quiet town always had something going on within its walls, as there was no such thing as a complete scientific study and always more things to learn and enhance their expertise. The world of Pokemon stopped for no man, and as such Professor Elm did his best trying to keep up, even if most of his work and his order of operations only really made sense to him and his closest studies.
While he wasn't in the main portion of his laboratory at the time, one of his aides smiled as a visitor came in through the open doors, calling out to find the professor.
"Let me go get him for you," the lab aide spoke with a nod, leaving for only a moment before Professor Elm came out from a hallway, clip board under one arm and a smile beneath his glasses, always eager and happy to meet what could be a prospective new trainer.
"Late? No, no, not to worry, you're just fine," Elm spoke then, adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose. The visitor requested a Cyndaquil, and the good professor was happy to oblige, he always did enjoy getting to see his young Pokemon taking their first steps out into the world with a new partner.
"A Cyndaquil is a very good choice, and I have just the one for you," Elm smiled then, moving through the main portion of his lab for only a moment while an aide came to him with a specific Pokeball.
"Here are a few items to help get you started, your very own registered Pokedex, and this Pokeball has your new Cyndaquil right inside," he relayed, handing out a small set of items to the new trainer.

That was easy, ridiculously so. Really, that was all he had to do to get his first Pokemon. Well, technically that was his second Pokemon, but professor didn't need to know that.
He thought for a moment about asking Elm about his Dratini, in hopes of getting more answers about the 'Shadow' type, but decided against it. Maybe the Pokemon professor was smart, but that wasn't really his field - they might need to look for someone who studied the Pokemon types, rather than the species itself. And he didn't want to bother Elm more than necessary, mostly because he was already tired and wanted to rest in Pokemon Center. He still, hopefully, had a lot more time to figure it out himself.
"Thanks you, professor. Have good rest of your day." although Avalon wasn't sure if that much politeness was actually needed or if professor actually cared, but it was better than nothing. A response was welcome, still.
After that, he picked up the Cyndaquil (it wasn't all that big or heavy, thankfully) and left the lab. He still had a few things to do, but it already looked promising."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

At last Lucas was here, in the Johto region. The trip to New Bark Town felt agonizing as Lucas was overexcited at the prospect of traveling through the unknown. He had heard a little about Johto as a child but had never gotten the chance to visit until now. His journey would likely take him to a number of different places, but he decided to start in a region that he had been wanting to explore since he was young. For him, this was a fresh start, and he was practically shaking up and down from anticipation. He hadn’t felt like this since his first adventure through Hoenn over 10 years ago. He tried to still his body to hide his enthusiasm before stepping off the train. He straightened his purple tinted glasses and looked for the laboratory where he supposedly would get his starter Pokémon. He quickly found the building thanks to the sign out in the front yard. He pulled out his notebook and scribbled down the address for future reference before slipping it back into his bag. He took a deep breath to bring back up his professional persona and stepped through the front door.
As soon as he was through the door he was taken aback by the look of the place. It was exactly as described by those he met in Slateport City. He took note of the shelves and devices that surrounded the room as he went further inside the building. He saw a man with brown hair and a lab coat ahead of him and decided to announce his entrance. He didn’t want to walk up too close and scare the man after all. Lucas cleared his throat and straightened up before speaking.
“Hello! My name is Lucas Meredith. You can call me by either name. I just arrived in this region and was told that you could help me get a Pokémon to travel with during my study of this region and its relationship with Pokémon. If it’s possible, may I please have a Chikorita to take care of?” Lucas asked. He fiddled with the strap of his handbag, hoping he made a decent first impression on the professor and thus to the region as a whole. |

He was always open to guests, whomever may come through, and he offered a wave for them to come on in.
"Ah, hello, good day" Elm nodded, greeting the visitor with an offer of a warm handshake. They seemed a bit fidgety, maybe nervous, but that was nothing he couldn't help with a gentle smile and a welcome handshake, he wanted them to feel welcomed for their visit!
"Oh well, you've certainly come to the right place, I'm pleased to meet you Lucas," he answered with a nod and he didn't hesitate to move from his visitor and grab a couple of things around his facility in order to fulfill the request of the new trainer to be.
"I do in fact have a wonderful Chikorita that has certainly been looking to get out into the world, I'm very happy that you two will be able to take that step together," Kukui relayed, handing out a small set of items to take, and the PokeBall containing a Chikorita.

Lucas took the items and the PokeBall carefully in his hands. He placed the items into his bag while holding on to the Pokeball that Chikorita was in. He looked at the bright red and white and thought for a moment that the ball felt warm. He wasn't sure if it was real or his imagination. He smiled and looked back up at the professor.
"Thank you so much! I'll take good care of them, and we'll be great partners in no time," he said before turning to leave. Right before the door, he turned back around and took in the view of the place so he could remember it. He doubted he'd be able to visit again, but he wanted to at least write down all he saw. He waved goodbye to Professor Elm before stepping through the door and out of the lab, ready to begin his adventure.
