In between Rustboro City and Verdanturf Town, there is nothing but mountain and rock which makes a trip between the two very difficult to make for just your daily traveler, but in recent years the Rusturf Tunnel was built to connect the two. It is a small tunnel, unlike a cave system, that was man made and carved into the mountains to connect almost the entirety of western Hoenn to the central cities of the mainland. Without this tunnel, a lot of commerce would not be possible, which makes the tunnel all the more pertinent to maintain.

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ As the blonde looked around the tunnel she was lost in, she spotted a number of small purple Pokemon. She did not recognize them, but they seemed harmless enough. None of them were attacking her, and most of them weren't even looking at her. It was as if they did not mind the Human presence at all. That was odd to her, usually you at least had to fight off some Zubats when you went exploring in caves. She could never have kept up with all the Zubats she'd had to fend off even before she had a single Pokemon of her own. She had learned from a very young age the best ways to deal with them. She didn't have to do that here though. The cave seemed... eerily calm.

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ One of the small purple Pokemon who actually was paying Katie some attention came over and looked up at the Trainer. It called something out to her, and jumped up and down a few times. "Do you want to battle...?" She asked it. It nodded and took a few steps back. "Oh... alright then." She said. She sent out her new Pokemon. She intended to get some practice in, and check out these special moves shared by no other Munchlax in the world.
"Munchlax?" The Pokemon looked back at her sleepily. "Use one of your special moves, please." Munchlax turned back to the enemy. Katie was sure it was going to do something impressive when it ran forward - body over-large and causing him to wave his arms to keep balance. Then it grabbed Whismur's arm... no, it's hand. Then....... nothing. Nothing else happened until Whismur slapped Munchlax in the face. "Whoa, don't do that!" She shouted and returned her Pokemon.
Aipom took his place and instantly created a Thunder attack to wipe Whismur out of the battle. It never stood a chance. Katie healed her Pokemon and returned him. The battle seemed to have distracted her from the horror that was her being found out. She didn't want to think about what implications this had. In fact she wanted to get far, far away from this Region and never look back, but her options were very limited right now. She had no way to escape. There was no way out. TL;DR
