Across the river of Aquacorde town and before the wall of Santalune City is an enormous stretch of forest that spans for miles and miles between the two spots of civilization known as the Santalune forest. The Santalune forest is famous for it's lush greenery and abundance of Pokemon, shrouded by a thick canopy of branches and leaves that filter in spots of sunlight making for a very beautiful walk through its winding paths. Santalune forest is a hotspot for many a beginning trainer to gather their bearings and start building bonds with the Pokemon that they have chosen to start their journeys with, which is an easy task with the many, many Pokemon that call the forest home. It is advised, however, that you follow the paths unless you want to get lost, the forest spans on for miles and some say that there are still corners of it left unexplored by humans.

- 5 RP posts are required, then roll a 10-sided dice. This will determine the Pokemon that appears. Then roll a 4-sided dice to determine level of the wild Pokemon.

Having decided it was better to move on from the City, Thomas was pleasantly surprised to find out that this Region's forest wasn't as far off as he was imagining. It was quite lovely scenery, but Thomas could imagine that it would grow quite dark during the night. The canopy was dense and already let through little sunlight. Thankfully there was a path for him to follow. He raced down said path at a quick pace, not knowing how far it went. Once he found the exit, he could turn around and train, battle his Pokemon and make them even stronger. Assuming, that is, that there was still enough light to do so. "I can do this, just a peaceful walk through the forest..."

Moving at a brisk pace through the Forest, Thomas needed a break. He leaned back against a tree, sitting down and catching his breath. Figuring that now was as good a time as any to discover which other Pokemon he had, Thomas subconsciously held his breath and pulled out the mystery Pokeball. "Who are you..." He finally realized he'd been holding his breath as he spoke aloud only to himself. "Well, here goes nothin'." The Pokeball split open, unleashing a torrent of glowing energy. A green Pokemon was suddenly standing in front of him, two blade-like arms stretching tall as it yawned. "Whoa, you're a Scyther!" The Mantis Pokemon was rare even to it's natural Region, only able to be caught in the Safari Zone. His Father must have caught this one before they moved to Johto. -Backpack-

Deciding that the two should meet, Thomas called out Fennekin. "Hey Foxi, come meet Scyther. He's going to be coming with us on our journey." Thomas introduced the two hesitantly, knowing that Scyther could be quite short-tempered. He wasn't sure how the Bug-Type would react to meeting a Fire-Type. By nature, Fennekin should be Scyther's enemy.
Scyther was calm though. Thomas was pleasantly surprised that the two got along, and before long Fennekin was sleeping next to where Thomas rested. Scyther was up a tree cutting down some fruit for them all to eat. "Thank you." Thomas told Scyther, who handed over some of the fruit. The trio sat and ate the fruit that they had never seen before, and it was quite good.

A small bird slowly approached their lunch, clearly hungry. Fennekin looked at it angrily, which was the only reason Thomas noticed the bird. "Hmm?" He mumbled through a mouthful of fruit. He aimed his Pokedex at the creature. 'Fletchling, the Tiny Robin Pokemon. These friendly Pokemon send signals to one another with beautiful chirps and tail-feather movements.'
Interesting. According to his Pokedex, this Pokemon could evolve into a dual Fire/Flying Type Pokemon. That would have come in handy against his first Gym Battle for sure, had he chosen a different starter. As it was, Thomas was confident that they could beat their first Gym. Thomas finished his bite before deciding what to do.

"Fennekin, use..." Before Thomas could get out a command, the Fletchling attacked. It seemed to have been waiting for Thomas' Pokemon to attack, and it didn't want to be caught off guard. The bird was no more than a blur as it used Quick Attack, flashing forward and slamming into Fennekin. "Quick, use Ember!" A blast of an Ember Attack shot forward, Fletchling dodged it. "Man, this Pokemon is fast! Keep firing those Embers until you hit!" Fletchling could only dodge for so long, finally being hit in the sky and falling to the ground. -30 to Fennekin, 10/40- -30 to Fletchling, 10/40- -Backpack-

Fennekin was looking hurt, quite damaged really. Thomas was worried that Fennekin couldn't take another hit like that, and Fletchling was much faster than Fennekin was. Suddenly, Fletchling shot forward to Quick Attack the poor fox again. Before they made contact, wind kicked up against Thomas' back. No, it wasn't wind. Scyther had moved so quickly that, in the blink of an eye, he had moved much faster than Fletchling. The bird fell over before it could strike Fennekin, un-moving. "Scyther...?" He gasped out. How could it possibly be that fast?-30 to Fletchling, 0/40

Thomas gave Fennekin enough Potion to fully heal, and gave one to Fletchling before placing it into the branch of a nearby tree. "You both did very well." He turned away from the bird, smiling at his dynamic-duo. "You beat that Fletchling together, and you both got stronger. That's how we are going to conquor this region, defeat the Gym Leaders, and become Champion; together." He smiled at his new team, who returned his smile with those of their own.

Thankfully, they had beaten that bird Pokemon together, and with their second victory, Thomas was ready to keep training his Pokemon further. He wanted them to grow that much stronger, and knew he had no other choice. He realized that the Gym Leaders were no joke. He couldn't imagine how many first-time Trainers just like him walked into their first Gym, feeling y and confident because they knew type advantages, only to be crushed by stronger Pokemon. It was a humiliation he would never allow. Never again would he feel weak, it was the promise he made to himself and the line that kept running through his head day and night. The burning passion and fire within him to grow more powerful was intense, and could possibly threaten to consume him if he didn't learn to keep it in check. The rustling of a nearby bush caught his attention. If the looks on his Pokemon's faces were any indication, they heard it as well. They were being watched. "Show your face, you coward!"

When no Pokemon or person presented itself, Thomas sent Fennekin in to figure out what it was. Apparently it was a Pokemon the fox thought it could take, because Fennekin's Ember attack was unmistakable. Thomas couldn't see what Pokemon Foxi was fighting, but a second Ember lit up the area before Fennekin returned to her Owner with a smile. Thomas smirked at the fox, venturing into the bushes to find an unconscious Metapod.
Metapod used Harden, it's defense rose!

Metapod were common where he was from, and he'd always liked Butterfree. Metapod could be a pain in the ass to train though, if you didn't catch them as a Caterpie when they know Tackle. In one hand, he held a Potion. In the other, a Pokeball. He wasn't sure which one he was going to use, but eventually came to a decision. He sprayed the Pokemon with Potion, setting it in a safe place to wake up. -Backpack-

Foxi yawned and stretched, curling up and napping. Scyther helped Thomas find more fruit, since they were both still pretty hungry. It had been a day and a half since Thomas had eaten last, after all. The fruit finally filled them enough to continue their journey, not quite sure where it would lead. Thomas was still getting to know this Region, and the forest was more than easy enough to get lost in if you didn't know where you were going. Fortunately, Thomas kept to the path. He knew better than to risk being lost here, he was sure that he could wonder for years and never be found.

Feeling refreshed, well-fed, and ready to go, Thomas lead the way towards the exit. Or at least where he assumed the exit to be. It was still light, and Thomas wasn't ready to leave the forest just yet. He knew that he had to keep training to become even stronger. The small party found the exit, but turned around and began looking high and low for Pokemon they could battle. Scyther jumped between the branches of trees, Fennekin and Thomas looked through bushes and behind trees.

The wild Pokemon of this Forest were quite skilled at hiding, and escaping confrontation. The birds always seemed to fly away before Scyther could strike, bugs disappeared into tree hollows for cover. It would take some skill, cunning, and planning to corner one into a battle. Or... Thomas suddenly had an idea.

"Quick, Foxi. Use Ember to cut off that Pokemon's escape route!" A blast of Ember shot just in front of the Caterpie, missing it by inches. Caterpie turned around with an angry look on it's face, rushing forward and tackling Foxi head-on. "Whoa! Show it what you think of that with Ember!" Fennekin's Fire-Attack hit the bug directly, and it dropped. "That's what I'm talking about!" He grinned, whipping a Pokeball towards the Caterpie. The orb pulled the caterpillar inside, shaking... shaking... shaking... finally sealing the bug inside. "We caught the Caterpie!"
Caterpie used Tackle! -20, 20/40. Foxi used Ember! It was super effective! -60, 0/40.

Thomas healed his Fennekin using one of the Potions the Professor had given him. "There, how's that?" He smiled at his Pokemon.
"Fenne!" The Fire-Type Pokemon replied with a bright smile. Fennekin ran over and sniffed the Pokeball that now contained Caterpie. Fennekin picked up the Pokeball in with it's teeth, bringing it over to Thomas and setting it into his hand.
"Thank you Fennekin. We have a new friend on our team now."

Upon entering the Santalune Forest the next morning, Thomas and Fennekin spotted another Caterpie. "Quick, Fennekin! Use Ember!" The fox attacked before the Caterpie even knew it was under attack. Fennekin began looking for another enemy. Thomas sprayed a Potion on the Caterpie, sneaking it to a hiding place where it would be safe to heal. Fennekin used Ember! -60, 0/30.

Thomas was surprised to hear the sound of clinking metal coming towards him. Was this a Steel-Type Pokemon? If so, Thomas wanted to be ready. "Foxi..." Fennekin looked up at him, just as confused as her Trainer. "Get ready to use Ember..." Fennekin nodded her head, staring intently in the direction of the strange noise.
"Hey, I remember you... you were in here yesterday! I saw you catch your Caterpie. Have you trained it up at all?" The figure of a young boy stepped into view, holding a large bag over his shoulder, making him look like an adolescent Santa Clause.
"Yeah, Caterpie and I have been doing some work." Thomas replied. He called Caterpie out of it's Pokeball.
The Boy grinned mischievously at Thomas and Caterpie, clearly thinking diabolical thoughts. "Then let's play a game. Your Caterpie vs mine, the winner will be the Caterpie who can knock the most cans over with String Shot." He was grinning from ear to ear now. "The winner takes the loser's strongest Pokemon."

The challenge annoyed Thomas. He didn't see how he could ever live it down if he lost, he would have to give up his Scyther... The two had developed a bond, and Thomas would miss the Pokemon if it were lost to him. He hesitated, he waited and thought. "Set it up." He finally replied, narrowing his eyes.
The boy smirked at him again, he was clearly confident that he would win. It made Thomas slightly nervous. "Ready when you are." The boy's annoying voice called out.
Thomas looked down at his own Caterpie, then at the other kid's Caterpie. The enemy Caterpie was actually larger, Thomas didn't think they varied in size. "Fine. Go." Both Caterpie set off, shooting string after string, strand after strand of the sticky webbing. One by one, the cans fell over until... oh no! Thomas watched nervously as his Caterpie missed the last can. Only then did he glance over at the other Caterpie's cans. There were two left standing on that side. Two? Wait, he won! Thomas and Caterpie actually won! "Thank you." Thomas spoke to Caterpie. "You've earned a rest, return."

"Best two out of three?" The kid was obviously stalling for time, and for another chance.
Thomas was the only one smiling now. "No way, I won fair and square. Now hand over your strongest Pokemon." The kid hung his head, but offered out a Pokeball. Thomas accepted the spoils of war, wondering which Pokemon exactly it was he'd just won.
"I guess I should give you this as well, I won't be needing it anymore..." The kid pouted as he handed over a black woven bracelet with a strange, colorful stone in it's center. The kid could see Thomas' confusion, so he explained. "It's a Mega Stone. My strongest Pokemon could mega-evolve, which means it's even more powerful and way more cool." Thomas nodded, before turning and walking away. He stowed the Pokeball in his belt, not wanting to ruin the surprise.

A rustling from the tree branches above caught Thomas' attention. "What the...?" He shielded his eyes from falling debris, but caught a glimpse of what was causing the disturbance. "I've never seen this Pokemon.." He aimed his Pokedex at it. 'Pansear, the High Temp Pokemon. When it is angered, the temperature on it's head tuft reaches 600*F. It uses it's tuft to roast berries.' Thomas glanced up again. "A Fire-Type, huh? Fine, let's play fire against fire! Foxi, use Scratch!" Fennekin hurriedly jumped from branch to branch, though not as quickly as the monkey could, and with far less balance. Just as Fennekin jumped, it scratched the Pansear hard. It couldn't stick the landing though, and fell out of the sky. Thomas ran forward and caught Foxi. "Good job." He smiled as the Pansear fell out of the tree, unconscious. Fennekin used Scratch! -30, 0/30.
Pansear has fainted!

Thomas called Scyther, Fennekin, and Caterpie out of their respective Pokeballs. "Scyther, could you please find us more fruit?" Scyther responded by nodding his head, jumping up into a low-hanging tree branch and starting his search from above.
"Fennekin, let's build a small fire so we can rest and eat comfortably." Thomas smiled down at Caterpie, who looked sad to have nothing to do. "It's okay buddy, you can help me collect fire wood." Caterpie brightened up, and Thomas, Caterpie, and Fennekin began searching the ground for good-sized sticks to use on the fire.
Once they all regrouped at the best spot, they began to take note of what they had accomplished. Scyther had brought the fruit, they had collected enough fire wood. "Alright Foxi, use Ember." Before long, they had a warm, cozy fire to sit next to.
Suddenly, something strange began to happen. "Caterpie?" The Pokemon was glowing, and Thomas was quite confused. He'd never seen an evolution before. Caterpie began to glow brighter and brighter, so bright that Thomas had to avert his gaze. When the light faded, Caterpie had become Metapod! "Whoa, you evolved!" He grinned at Metapod, examining his friend's new form.

Metapod was quite happy to have evolved as well, and wanted to hang out with Thomas, Scyther and Fennekin around the controlled fire. It was around midnight when the group finished off their collection of fruit. They were all growing tired, so Thomas recalled his Pokemon into their Pokeballs. He curled up next to the fire and quickly fell asleep. Hours passed, and the fire died down. Before long, only sparkling embers remained.

Just as the sun was beginning to rise, Thomas was roused from his sleep by a rustling in the trees overhead. He looked up just in time to see something fall seemingly from the sky. Whatever it was, landed on his chest and knocked the wind from him. "Humph." The strangled noise escaped Thomas' throat as he waited impatiently for his ability to breathe to return. Whatever had fallen had been tossed a little bit away, and was making a slow attempt to scurry away. "Now now, I don't think you understand what you just did, dropping in on a Pokemon Trainer like that." He adopted a determined expression, grabbing a Pokeball from his belt.

Thomas threw a Pokeball into the air, which split open at a great height and shot a beam of red light towards the ground. "Prepare for a fight!" Thomas called out with a smirk, to which the Kakuna glanced back, eyes widening to see Fennekin standing beside it. "Alright Foxi, use Ember!" Fennekin shot a small ember at the Kakuna, causing it to feint immediately. Thomas spritzed the wild Pokemon with a Potion, setting it behind a bush to keep it safe while it healed. Foxi used Ember! -60 hp
Kakuna feinted!
