"A cute name for a cute Scatterbug." She smiled, petting Hawke's head as lightly as she could. She didn't want to disturb him while he ate his treat. Despite how distracted she was by the little Scatterbug even Hanako couldn't miss how upset Kintaro appeared by sending Odyss back. "I'm sure he'll be happy to see you when you can take him with you again. How could he not? He'll feel better by then and he'll get to see his friend." She said gently, hoping her attempt at reassuring him had helped even if only a little. Comforting people was yet another thing on the lengthy list of stuff she had very little experience with. Trying couldn't hurt though. She didn't have long to think about it further before the Kakuna was bought over to her. At first she considered moving away from it, still unsure as to how to go about handling the cocoon, but after it attempted to explain itself to the best of its ability she relaxed. If it meant her no harm then there was no reason for her to be afraid of it.
As soon as Attica stopped holding Kakuna up Hanako winced and knelt down to pick him up herself, cuddling him the same way she was Hawke. She wasn't sure how much the Kakuna could feel in its cocoon but falling down was never pleasant. "That didn't look fun. Are you okay?" Hanako kissed the top of the Kakuna's head before turning her attention back to Kintaro. Something she wished for? She paused to consider the question before responding. "I-I don't know. Someday I'd like to start a garden with my Pokemon. D-does that count as a wish?" Maybe if she could figure out what would count as a wish she would be better able to answer the question. "I-I think for now I just want to see how far we can go...Um...How about you? What do you wish for?"
An explosion behind her pulled her attention away from Kintaro just long enough to see that her Froakie had not only found one of the exploding presents, he had startled a Metapod in the process of opening it. Immediately the Metapod used Harden, to which Zinnia could only bat at it in response. He wasn't entirely sure what to do about the upset Metapod. When the Metapod attempted to Harden once more, Zinnia swatted at it again, this time knocking the poor thing out. Hanako set down both Hawke and Kakuna and began searching through her bag, though she had no intention of catching the unconscious Pokemon. She went over to it and sat down beside it, carefully lifting it into her lap so she could spray down its wounds with the first of two potions that she had retrieved from her bag. It had been her Pokemon's fault that it had gotten hurt so it was only right that she made sure it would make a full recovery. "Are you okay?" She asked Zinnia as she moved on to the second potion after the first was empty, looking over the Metapod once that one ran out too. From the looks of it the Pokemon would make a full recovery. Zinnia patted her leg lightly, looking up at her as if trying to ask her if she was mad at him. Hanako smiled, picking the Froakie up so she could hug him. "The present scared both of you, didn't it? It's okay. See? The Metapod is going to be fine. Let's go find it somewhere comfortable to lay down while it recovers." She stood, holding both Zinnia and the Metapod close to herself. "Where do you think looks best?" Zinnia gestured towards a tree a good distance away from all of the presents. He didn't want to risk another incident with the Metapod. "Perfect!" Hanako nuzzled the Froakie's head before going to set the Metapod down in the softest spot she could find beneath the tree Zinnia had chosen. "We're sorry for all of the trouble."
Only then did Hanako realize that she had completely wandered off on Kintaro mid-conversation. "S-sorry!" She exclaimed as she ran back to rejoin them, clearly flustered. "T-that was rude of me, wasn't it? I'm sorry! I'm so bad at this!" Interacting with Pokemon was easy. Interacting with humans, however, was something she was sure she would never be able to do. Zinnia reached up to pat her cheek, trying to to comfort his upset trainer. To Vervain it seemed like the perfect time to drag the present full of food over to Hanako and offer her the box he had found inside of it. He would have given it to her earlier but there were snacks in need of distribution. Hanako stopped babbling and accepted the box, watching as Vervain attempted to balance one of the treats on Kakuna now that his hands were free again. "I...I guess Ver found it." She shrugged helplessly as she stared down at the box, unsure whether or not to open it while she was still holding Zinnia. For all she knew this could be some sort of trick. More importantly, she really needed to remember to have a talk with Vervain about his priorities later.

Kintaro Satoshi The determination with which Kintaro attacked Del's gifts was...insane. While Zinnia had set off another bomb gift, Kintaro nudged a present with his foot. When it didn't immediately explode, he picked it up, peeked inside, and had another explosion blow his hair back and stain his face with soot. He was not amused. Mena, in the meantime, was staring down a wild Metapod with whom she had gotten into a Harden contest. The Metapods sat there, skin crackling as it grew thicker and harder with each passing moment. Kintaro was far too busy trying to kill himself and converse with Hanako to notice. He glanced at her after coughing out some soot and scowling. "You're right. He won't appreciate being left behind all the same." Kintaro paused, glancing at the young woman with a hesitant smile. "Thank you." He added, knowing Hanako needed the assurance. It didn't help to try and teach someone social etiquette if he didn't practice it himself. No matter how much he would rather be frustrated with her because of her Delibird. More intersting was the declaration of her wish. Not in the slightest what Kintaro had meant...but she amended her answer to the most immediate goal. And knowing she liked to garden was a good start. "This place must be special, then." He mused aloud, looking around as he considered the merits of the area. Maybe if he went back and cleaned up those Rotom appliances it would be a little nicer too.
Zinnia fighting a Metapod reminded Kintaro to mind his own. "Gandor! Would you deal with this? Mena! Why are you so insistent on battling a Pokemon you can't possibly end a battle with?" He struggled at first to lift the heavy Metapod even as she whined about being allowed to "fight" her opponent. Gandor sparked up with a wicked grin after getting license to go full force. "Watch this."[/font] He buzzed to the other Pokemon, knowing he was about to blow some minds with a move he doubted any of them had seen before. He bumped his little electrified body and the Electrium Z he had been carrying popped loose from his back. He worked electricity like makeshift arms and performed the Electric Z Dance by himself. "Gigavolt...HAVOC!" The Rotom shouted, overcharging with power and blasting the wild Metapod with Gigavolt Havoc, frying the poor thing instantly and leaving it stunned by the attack as it fainted. He shimmied a little victory dance as Kintaro shouted in dismay at the surge of electric energy. "Gandor! What was that!?" The Rotom thrummed in annoyance but relinquished the Electrium when Kintaro approached. "Do it again." Kintaro commanded, curious how the attack worked...but Gandor couldn't get it to light up like before. He danced and he flailed, he even shocked the stone demanding it let him blast something again. Kintaro could only scowl as he retrieved the Electrium Z from Gandor once again. "It only works once, perhaps." He mused, getting a quick shake of the head from Gandor. "More than once. It may require time to charge again." He muttered to himself, scratching his chin as he put the Electrium in his pocket. Or, he would have, but his hand slipped and instead dropped it on the ground beside Mary. She grabbed up the pretty stone and mewled her thanks to her trainer before rolling on the ground to play with it. The little Shinx played with it and sparked with Charge, just enjoying her day now that she had been given a gift.
Kakuna enjoyed being held, but didn't get to enjoy it very long when that wild Metapod seized Hanako's attention. Now she was talking to Kintaro! He was interested in her too! The cocoon sit where he had been set and stared ahead. Hawke sat beside him nibbling on the last of the treat he'd had. Vervain's heart was in the right place, except Kakuna's mouth was not on his head. The Drillbur would be treated to a frustrated, muffled screech of buzzing while Kakuna shook trying to get at his food. Hawke finally gave in and picked up Kakuna's treat to let him eat as well, the grateful Beedril to be munching away with tiny mandibles peeking through his carapace. "You're fine, Ms. Lucali. It's apparently a busy day for us both." He remarked with a patient smile. It was not so thin as before. Kintaro was genuinely impressed by her efforts and the care with which she approached her Pokemon. He had left Metapod where it fell, but he also knew that there was a system in place to protect injured Pokemon. It didn't need his help any more than Hanako needed to help hers. "Metapod appears to be in season." He added, making a small joke as he looked around above them. Was there a nest of some kind? His thoughts were cut short when he noticed the earth swell near Hanako before a silver-blue Sandslash exploded from the dirt and flipped a large care package over his back and onto the ground in front of Kintaro. "What is..." He was cut off by the Sandslash thrusting a small device at him which soon flickered to life with Alyssa's pretty face. "Kinny! I'm sorry about the other day. So I sent you this Sandslash! I know you'll get along just fine! Take good care of him, and don't forget to keep Attica busy! Alola!" The message ended with Kintaro scowling at the image. What the hell was Alola and why did it have anything to do with--"You're not a Sandslash." Kintaro remarked, receiving a confused "Slash?" from the target of his confusion. "Sandslash is a Ground Type. You're not even Rock. You're Ice Type. Your body is freezing. You're. Not. Sandsl--AAAHHH!!!" Sandslash had grown agitated with the man's attitude and moved to slash him when Mary managed to activate the Electrium by accident and rushed Sandslash with that same surge of electrical power. Sandslash thrummed with electricity coursing through his body until Mary broke contact and stared up confused about the whole situation. The ice spike on top of his head melted partway down before Sandslash fell flat on his face. "Not. Sandslash." Kintaro puffed, brushing himself off and looking at Hanako. He grew suddenly bashful realizing how he had just behaved and could only offer a lame finger-point at Sandslash as he tossed a Pokeball to catch it. "He isn't a Sandslash." The man protested lamely. He had definitely not been on his best behavior for this. In the meantime, Attica had begun to sort through the delivery Sandslash had announced and Aly's message had confirmed. She bumped his ankle and Kintaro shrugged his pack off while seeming to expect a well-deserved ear-pulling from the young woman before him. She picked up a helmet and rolled it in her blades carefully. "What's this do?" She muttered to herself, putting it on out of curiosity without actually doing anything with it. It definitely looked odd, the helmet-like head of a Pawniard wearing a Helmet on top of it.

Before she could even consider going to help the second injured Metapod Primrose stopped her by latching on to her trainer's leg. They were going to go through a lot of potions if Hanako decided to try to tend to every injured Pokemon they came across. It was probably for the best. If she had decided to move to help the Metapod she likely would have tripped over the Sandslash that had just emerged from the ground. It was a strange color but something about it still seemed familiar. The Sandslash was still very much a Sandslash, just a bit strange looking. The box was left with Vervain once more. Rather than scold Kintaro for how he had treated the Pokemon she retrieve both a simple cloth and a bottle of water from her bag, using it to wet the cloth before approaching him. Alola. She knew that word but she couldn't quite place it. Frowning, she gripped Kintaro's shoulder gently to help her balance as she stood on the tips of her toes to clean some of the soot off of his face. Her gentleness wasn't something directed purely at Pokemon.
"Alola...Alola..." She repeated the word to herself as she worked on cleaning his face, stopping before she got anywhere near his eyes. "He's definitely a Sandslash." This comment was more to herself than Kintaro. She was convinced that if she stated everything she knew about the current situation out loud then she would be able to recall something of use. Hanako released Kintaro's shoulder and settled back into a normal standing position, holding the cloth out to him so he could clean his eyes himself. She was prone to panicking when anything came close to her remaining eye so she didn't dare try to clean the area around his eyes. "I remember now! Alola is a region! I don't know too much about it, just the few things my grandpa told me. I think...some of their Pokemon are different? The Sandslash is a Sandslash, it's just a Sandslash from Alola." The more she tried to explain it, the more silly she was convinced she sounded. Basic communication needed to be added to the list of skills she had to work on.
Vervain pushed the box against Hanako's leg, attempting to convince her to open it before Lily did for her. The Fletchling was busy picking away at it despite Vervain's attempts to keep her away. "Okay, okay. I'll open it." She laughed, her earlier concerns about the box potentially being a trap forgotten. Lily's enthusiasm was far too cute for her to turn her down. "What's all of this?" She wondered as she began to pick through the items in the box. Given the size of the box she hadn't been expecting anything big but somehow Del had managed to fit an entire vase and flowers within it. She couldn't decide whether she was impressed or concerned. In the end she decided it best not to question Del and started examining the other items instead. The perfectly Pokemon sized diamond necklace only worried her further but she just assumed it had been sent by one of her grandparents. She attempted to offer the necklace to Primrose, thinking it was more up her alley than it was Lily's, but was immediately dismissed. The Illumise didn't like the look of it so she slipped it around Lily's neck instead. The Fletchling seemed indifferent to it at first until she realized it sparkled in the right light, at which point she was thrilled with her gift. It was basically a fancy toy that she could wear. The only other items within the box were three Rare Candies and a Water Gem. She left both the gem and vase in the box, storing it away in her bag from there. Figuring out what to do with an entire vase full of flowers could wait until later and the water gem wasn't needed at the moment.
Hanako had a vague idea of what Rare Candies were suppose to do. Something in the candies was supposed to make Pokemon stronger. She could offer one to both Zinnia and Lily but that would leave her with one extra. If Vervain hadn't bothered to eat them when he first got into the parcel that meant he probably didn't like them and Primrose was already staring at the candies as if they were something diseased. The solution was simple. She carefully grabbed Kintaro's hand and placed one of the candies in it before releasing him. "For helping try to find the correct present." Hanako smiled and turned her attention to her Pokemon. Very little convincing was required to get Lily and Zinnia to eat the two remaining candies. They both enjoyed the little treats.

Kintaro Satoshi Today had been a good day in spite of the gift bombs. The girl, though confusing and a little irritating, was a precious little thing he could not simply hate. He would never admit that out loud. With his new Pokemon and his team settled on for now, Kintaro was ready to really put the work into training them for their first Gym. He watched the young woman with a momentary redness forming on his cheeks as she wiped soot from his face like a doting mother. Her attention to his skin was...weird. But he wasn't going to hold that against her. She seemed to be determined to help him understand how his frozen friend was a Sandslash and the term "Region" reminded Kintaro of exactly what she had just said. He did not much care for the idea of Alola Region and did not dedicate much time or energy to its information. An honest problem considering he had to learn about things like Alolan Sandslash. "So...This Sandlsash is an Ice Type? You wouldn't happen to know why that is, would you?" He inquired thoughtfully as he observed the Pokeball of his new Sandslash. He then looked to Hanako as if he didn't believe her while she handed him the cloth to wipe his own eyes. He hesitated when accepting her gift. "You shouldn't give this to me. You know what these are, do you not?" He remarked, offering the item back to her. "I appreciate the sentiment, but this is a valuable resource. You need all you can get this early in your journey." He tugged a business card from his pocket and presented it to the young woman. "I work for a rehabilitation firm in Lumiose City. I assure you, I have all the resources I need." He insisted, pressing the Candy into her palm again. He could only offer her a patient smile.
As it stood, Kintaro did need to focus on training his Pokemon and getting them ready for their career together. "Perhaps, instead of arguing over your Rare Candy, we should proceed with more training." He offered, reminding Hanako that, even though she didn't appear to love battle, she did understand its importance for building up her team and their skills. Kintaro was more than willing to guide her on the process. Primrose put the Rare Candy discussion to rest before Hanako even attempt to argue about it, which in itself would have been an incredibly awkward process. The Illumise snatched up both the candy and business card, shoving both items into Hanako's bag, though unlike the candy she was slightly more careful about putting away the card. She then wiped her hands clean against her stomach and proceeded to try to clean Hanako's hands as well. Letting the weaker Pokemon eat the candies was fine by her. They could use them to get stronger. Leaving her trainer to mindlessly touch one of them though? That was a problem. The series of noises from her that followed were her best attempt at explaining the candy could be saved until "one of the little ones needed it". After her trainer was sufficiently cleaned she landed on the ground and began trying to straighten herself out. Her rushed attempt at removing the candy from her trainer had left her a mess.
"That solves that, I think?" Hanako was trying her best not to giggle at her Pokemon's antics. "As for why your Sandslash would be an Ice Type..." She trailed off as she tried to recall what exactly her grandfather had told her about Alolan Pokemon. "It has something to do with where they live. They're still the same species, just different from the Pokemon we know. It's kinda like how Pokemon can be different colors." She paused her explanation long enough to crouch down to pet Mary and pick up Kakuna. When she stood again she took Kakuna with her, deciding to cuddle him now since she had to put him down earlier. "Mary is a different color but she's still a Shinx and this little guy is a bit darker than the average Kakuna but he's still a Kakuna. They're the same Pokemon, they just look a little different is all. Looking a bit different isn't going to stop Kakuna from evolving into an amazing Beedrill someday and it isn't stopping Mary from being adorable." She smiled, nuzzling Kakuna gently. She had no idea how she had been afraid of him before. "I'm sure if you give Sandslash a chance he'll become a great partner too."
There were very few other things she remembered being told about Alolan Sandshrew specifically. She reddened slightly, hiding her face against Kakuna. "Um...Alolan Sandshrews live on mountains...They sled on their bellies to get around sometimes." It seemed like such a random detail to remember but when she was a child it had been the most adorable sounding thing in the world to her. She had wanted to see a Sandshrew sled on its belly someday. Small things like that had meant a lot to her when she was a child. They gave her things to daydream about, which helped pass the time when she was stuck in bed. She was happy to change the topic to training after recalling that cute detail about Alolan Sandshrews, as much as she disliking battling, which training surely involved. "My Pokemon and I are very new to this. I'm still worried I'm going to mess something up..."

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro was going to become obsessed with finding the nest. A Metapod falling loose of its perch struck the man in the head and fell to the ground before him. He had just fed his Kakuna a Mushroom which made him more able to work his stiff mandibles though that didn't seem to make it any easier for him to communicate as his voice still seemed to be muffled. The wild Pokemon landing on Kintaro's head interrupted his attempt to repeat the process with Mena and the two bug cocoons stared at each other with the wild Metapod attempting to Harden. "Mena. Don't you start with that." He cautioned, kneeling down to feed the other Small Mushroom to his own Metapod so that she learned the same technique, like nostalgia reminding her that her old body could learn to do this. Mandibles clacked before Mena adjusted her stance and lurched forward awkwardly. The Metapod managed to strike her opponent upside the head and bit her opponent multiple times. And that was that. The Metapod didn't seem any tougher than the first one Kintaro had encountered. He looked up, noticing there were signs of a great deal more still above them. "I found the nest." The man remarked, frowning and making a gesture that they should probably move along. As much as he was interested in a bit of study he was also certain that this would only get worse if they lingered. Hopefully it would at least stop happening and allow these bug Pokemon a break. Kintaro led Hanako and their Pokemon away from what he hoped was the nest.
As the pair moved forward, Kintaro remembered to give a pair of Mushrooms to Attica who readily stabbed both treats and chomped them down greedily herself. Watching the Dark Type Pokemon caused Kintaro to nearly miss the air grew uncharacteristically cold for the forest, letting Kintaro know something was up. What would an Ice Type--another Ice Type--be doing in the forest? The question was soon answered as he began to move more like he was trying not to draw attention. A young woman and her Weavile were sitting together with Weavile producing enough cold air to give the general space a winter-like feeling. Kintaro traded a look with Attica--who was also keen on spying--before a short glance back made them both realize they'd been caught. The girl was pointedly turned away and her Weavile was missing. "Ah. I guess I should have listened to Ms. Ruka about training with a ninja." He mused, looking up to see Weavile exactly where he would expect someone trying to get the drop on a potential threat. "You shouldn't threaten strangers. You never know when you're making the wrong decision. It's easier to take back an inappropriate comment than an aggressive stance." He chided the pair, staring Weavile directly in the eye with a dull and bored expression. "Ms. Lucali, please stay back. This Weavile has mistaken us for its enemy." He glanced at the young woman who was now staring at him, noting her pale skin and quickly reddening face. "This could serve as an education experience. If it comes to battle, you're more than welcome to watch. I'll do my best to teach you." He gestured to Weavile to return to its trainer's side, taking note once more as the redness started fading shortly after the girl was rejoined by her partner. "My apologies. I was attacked by some wild Pokemon yesterday with ill intentions. My Pawniard and I were unsure what was making this space so cold." Kintaro announced, taking Mena off of his shoulder where he had been carrying her and setting her down. His demeanor had changed significantly in dealing with a strange person who seemed to be hostile. While he wasn't being polite necessarily he was also carefully choosing his words to come off as nonthreatening as he could manage. The stranger only smiled and gave him a nod. She was apparently willing to battle at least. Her Weavile looked like it wanted a fight.

Those poor Metapod. They hadn't meant to disturb their nest. She whispered a quiet apology as they left, hoping that the bug Pokemon could get some rest once they had left. Hanako wanted to believe that once they were clear of the nest they would have a chance to rest. No such luck, however, as they ran into another trainer quickly after leaving the nest. It was very cold. When it appeared that Kintaro was about to be drawn into a battle she gathered the other Pokemon, doing her best to keep them out of the way. She was trying to minimize the number of Pokemon that might possibly get hurt. "Please be careful." Once the Pokemon were settled in she sat down in the middle of them, her Pokemon latching on to their trainer immediately. She hadn't realized she was shivering before then. That was a problem she could deal with later though. Right now she was entirely focused on Kintaro. She wasn't sure what would happen next but if this did turn into a fight she hoped he would win.
"You've got this." She said reassuringly. Her dislike of battling didn't mean she couldn't try to cheer Kintaro on, though she assumed her awkward little attempt at cheering meant very little. She liked to think it was the thought that counted.

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro did not acknowledge Hanako's encouragement, but he had to appreciate her voice. While incredibly soft spoken, Hanako's words felt like Aly was cheering for him when she convinced him to participate in local battle competitions. His main interest was in the woman before him right now even as he made a point to train his Pokemon and educate his new companion. "Mena, I need your help here. We have a rookie trainer to teach. Start with Hardening. Show her how well it'll help you against that Weavile's claws." Kintaro called, looking across to his opponent only to realize that in the spirit of education he hadn't actually analyzed his opponent. The Icy Wind was exactly the opposite of what Kintaro had wanted. Mena's shell grew harder, but the Icy Wind was completely unaffected by the hardened skin. Kintaro let out a sigh and turned to Hanako. "That should have worked better. My apologies. Mena, that was my fault. In the meanwhile, use Bug Bite. Weavile is a Dark Type, so Mena's bite will affect it more. There are a number of theories as to why--there being some inherent evil that insects feed on, or perhaps that Bug Type Pokemon have some superstitious power of destroying darkness--but so far I've only come to the conclusion that a Dark Type's reliance on shadow is simply nothing a Bug Type can't handle." He paused, turning to Weavile who was brandishing its claws at him. "It's a theory. Bugs aren't as heavily reliant on their eyesight. Your attacks rarely surprise them as a result, which is in the nature of most Dark Type attacks." He stopped as he realized the quiet woman looked irate herself. "Oh. I've gone and offended." He adjusted his glasses with a calm frown. "There is no disrespect, I assure you." He thought for a moment while Weavile took another swing at Mena, using Feint Attack to strike the Metapod but leaving only shallow scratches. "Ah, that's more like it. See? Now, Mena isn't going to last much longer, but had she been at full strength she may have been able to take that and several other attacks." He explained before calling back Mena to her Pokeball before Weavile could strike her again.
"Attica! Are you ready?" The Pawniard flinched at first, mistaking his determination for irritation. She lurched forward and slid on the tips of her blade-like toes as she skidded to a halt to follow Kintaro's command. Attica was ready to fight, but Kintaro had to sigh as he double-checked his Pokedex for her moves. Much to his approval, the device did inform him of the things he wanted. "Please don't be upset with me. I need you to open with Psycho Cut. We must assume that Miss Lucali knows absolutely nothing about Pokemon." Kintaro stated, making Attica huff in frustration before obeying the order. Weavile stopped its aggressive stance to let her strike. "I find the immunity to the Psychic Type far more intriguing." Attica's blade scratched Weavile, but the violet energy of her Psycho Cut simply vanished upon contacting the weasel Pokemon. It was not the best decision after all, Weavile countering the futile attack with Metal Claw and scratching Attica's helmet. "Excellent work, Attica. Maintain your defenses. I'll treat you when we're finished." He turned back to Hanako, completely abandoning his attention on the battle and allowing Attica to make her own decisions. She remained defensive as Kintaro requested, the sound of metal blades clashing with sharp claws the only thing interrupting his speech. "She'll be alright. Weavile wasn't prepared to fight another Pokemon like it." He explained, giving Hanako his reasoning for ignoring his own battle. Weavile blurred briefly and tried to jump at Kintaro's back only to be kicked hard in the gut by Attica. Her focus grew more intense as she now fought to keep the irritable Ice Type from attacking her trainer. Even if she did want to knock his teeth out right now. "Attica, luckily, has the advantage here. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to take my time to explain all of this without getting my Pokemon hurt." He was letting the battle play out on its own and letting Attica help him teach Hanako just about everything he could in one quick match. "You already know a lot more than most of the new trainers I've met before, so you should be able to learn much of this through simple trial and error." Kintaro stated, folding his hands behind his back. Weavile lunged again at him and Attica intercepted with her own body having been too slow to counter again. The gashes on her chest were deep but not life-threatening. "I, unfortunately, also don't have many status effects or other battle-changing abilities ready right now. I should prepare participants like that in the future." He remarked, turning back to face the dancer with a patient smile. "I apologize, but my Pawniard deserves to have a better day today." He gestured to Attica who was still getting back up after Weavile's use of another Metal Claw. "Attica, I won't force you to hold back any longer. Please don't do anything you wouldn't want done to you." He cautioned his headstrong partner, getting Attica to huff and bellow with furious strength. "Finish this. Try out your Revenge attack." The girl flinched, Weavile tried to backpedal only to find Attica--with Kintaro's help--had anticipated the escape attempt and moved into the opposing Pokemon's range of motion. Clawed feet tangled and Attica struck hard with her elbow. She proceeded to pummel Weavile with all the force she could muster and Kintaro only smiled with a sense of satisfaction. Weavile was hurt when it fell, but not badly injured. Attica would have done far worse if given the opportunity.
Kintaro approached the young lady and raised his hand before flexing it and withdrawing. She was clearly unhappy with how the battle had gone and the way Kintaro didn't really give it the attention it deserved. If he hadn't had Attica's Revenge, this match would have taken longer. He also realized that Weavile was not the only thing cold. "I'm sorry. I know how important battling is for most people. This young woman is a new trainer, and she requested I teach her about battling." He explained himself, still holding his hand out even though he was confident she would not take it. "You are a victim of circumstance. I would not intentionally offend an opponent." He added, getting a small smile from the silent female. He was given some money and the girl made some gestures that caused Kintaro to realize she was dancing as a form of signing to him. He didn't understand why she didn't use a proper sign language, but he didn't question it. "Thank you for understanding, and my companion appreciates your participation." Kintaro stated, stepping back and letting the trainer recall her Weavile. He turned away to get back to Hanako. In the time he took to take three steps, the woman was gone. Like she had never been there and Kintaro had imagined the entire match. "It was a short lesson, but I believe you know a lot more now. Perhaps I can speak with the Gym Trainers about participating further and teaching you even more. Santalune City is focused on Bug Type Pokemon. I'd have a lot more opportunities to teach you about battle-altering moves like Harden, Leer, and the Spore attacks." He stated, only acknowledging briefly that the stranger was gone. He glanced back one moment, then turned to Hanako again as he knelt down to tend Attica's injuries as promised. The Pawniard flinched against the Potions and other materials used, but her metallic face was flushed and she looked absolutely ecstatic to have Kintaro cleaning and caring for her. A happy little Pawniard.

Hanako watched the battle as closely as soon could between listening to Kintaro and taking notes on everything she was told. Early on it had become apparent there was a lot he was going to try to teach her so she had retrieved a notebook from her things and had started to write everything down. The notes were extremely condensed but she would still be able to make sense of them when she went back to study them later. They would also prevent her from forgetting any of the things Kintaro had just tried to teach her. In addition to taking general notes about the things he had explained to her, she had drawn a simple chart to help her learn type effectiveness. Some of them were common sense and easy to fill in. Others she would have to learn as she went. There was a lot to learn upon becoming a new trainer. She was certain she would get it down eventually though.
"Are Attica and Mena okay? You guys did great!" Hanako commented cheerfully, holding up the notebook just long enough to show Kintaro she had been paying attention before storing it away with the rest of her things. "Thank you for teaching me. There really is a lot I don't know." She reddened, looking down at the Kakuna and Froakie resting in her arms. At some point Zinnia had managed to sneak into her lap as well. If she could learn everything then perhaps she could be an even better friend for the Pokemon around her. Cuddles were nice but there was far more she could be doing for them. She would become the best trainer she could for her friends, even if that meant having to battle. She petted Zinnia gently and smiled. Hanako didn't hope to be the best but maybe someday their team could be strong too.
"There is one thing though. It's something small, really..." She trailed off as she looked back up at Kintaro, what could have been mistaken for a mischievous gleam appearing in her eye for the briefest of seconds before disappearing like the trainer. "Ms. Lucali sounds way too formal. So, until you call me Hanako or Hana, I'm going to call you Taro." She said with a playful smile. Training with her Pokemon was important but so was having fun.

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro was knelt on the ground behind Attica while she relished the feeling of being cared for. Hanako might even feel like she was intruding from the satisfied face the little Pawniard had. All that stress and anger the Pokemon seemed to just steep herself in was melting away to the point even gazing on Hanako was met with a warm smile and her first friendly gesture she'd ever given the human girl. "Attica's always been the toughest Pokemon I've known. Normally, I would treat others first. She's always been exceptional with ignoring her own pain. I once found Attica bleeding pretty badly and she insisted she wasn't hurt." He ran his fingers down the Pawniard's sides and massaged her metallic body on his way back up to her head. "She isn't particularly fond of you, and she still performed well for this battle. Weavile could have done some serious damage. It was lucky it was getting angry. If I had sent anyone else out, they would have been hurt pretty badly." He explained further, glancing up from his ritual of treating Attica to the absolute bliss she was engaged in right now. "Also, this way, she'll start to associate taking care of you with positive feelings. She still won't like you, but she'll at least want to help you knowing that I may reward her." Attica didn't even try to get defensive about how she felt right now. For all the metal on her body, Attica was putty in Kintaro's hands. He nodded at her remark about disliking the formality of using her last name. Trying to get Kintaro to speak casually was a special kind of madness Hanako was not ready to tackle. At least it's better than 'Kinny'. He thought, watching Hanako briefly until he remembered an important step in Attica's ritual. "Would you go and find a stone near the river bank? It should be at least large enough to fill your hand." He offered the young lady a crooked smile. "It's also an easy solution as opposed to trying to find your way into her good graces. Pawniard need to sharpen their blades after every battle or they become anxious. I lost Attica's favorite stone on our way to Vaniville." Kintaro admitted, explaining why it was so important for him to give Attica a new whetstone. Hanako would be in the best place to be searching for such a thing with the river close by. She was nearly guaranteed to successfully gain Attica's favor this way. "She really seems to adore you." Hanako smiled softly at Attica. It was nice to see the Pawniard unwind, even if only a little. She seemed so serious compared to the other Pokemon. She deserved a break sometimes too. "Attica doesn't have to like me. She's an amazing Pokemon as it is." That being said, it would still be nice to develop a somewhat civil relationship with the Pawniard, especially if she wanted to stay with Kintaro. He was the closest thing to a human friend she had and he was a great teacher. Hanako held up one of her hands, trying to determine if a stone the size of her hand would be big enough or if she should find one closer to the size of Kintaro's hand. "Maybe something a bit bigger than my hand..." She mused as she removed Zinnia from her lap and stood, so far gone into her own little world that she failed to notice when she had taken both Kakuna and her bag with her. Deciding what would be the perfect type of rock that would be required to get Attica to tolerate her was difficult.
Before her other Pokemon could try to follow her Vervain stopped them, gesturing for them to stay with Kintaro instead. Hanako didn't need an entire crowd of Pokemon following her through the forest so soon after upsetting a Metapod nest. Things had only just calmed down. Once they had settled down he followed after his trainer. He was the strongest out of her Pokemon, as lazy as he was, so he should have no trouble keeping her safe. By the time he caught up to her Hanako was already knee deep in the water searching for a decent stone. She had left Kakuna propped up against her bag on the shore after realizing she had taken him with her. Primrose was going to have a fit. The bottom of her dress was soaked but Hanako didn't seem to care. All that mattered was finding a nice stone for Attica. Vervain sat down next to Kakuna and wiggled his claws about in an awkward wave to greet the other Pokemon. Hanako glanced up at Vervain and smiled at him before returning to her search. The Drillbur settled in, closing his eyes and listening to the repeated sound of stones being dropped back into the water. As long as he could hear it that probably meant his trainer was okay. Just as he was about to drift off for a nap an unusual sound like static forced him to sit up and try to find the source.
It was a Pikachu. A Pikachu that was dangerously close to the water and preparing to shock his trainer. Water and electricity did not mix. That could only end horribly for Hanako. The usually lazy Drillbur was up in an instant, nearly knocking over Kakuna in his attempt to lunge at the Pikachu before it could do anything to Hanako. His claws still connected with enough force to knock the Pikachu away from the water despite being less effective than usual. The attack it had been charging was unleashed upon the Drillbur instead. That was fine by him. One more hit from his claws was enough to end the battle after that. Vervain lifted a claw to his mouth, hoping Kakuna would understand he wanted him to keep it quiet before picking several Pokeballs from Hanako's bag. He began pressing them against the unconscious Pikachu's head, hoping to help his trainer out by capturing the Pokemon for her. His first two attempts didn't work at all. He was just about to give up when a Pokeball was thrown at the Pikachu. It wiggled about before pinging to signal that the Pokemon had been captured.
Hanako smiled at Vervain from beside her bag, picking up several things that had fallen out on to the ground in his attempt to retrieve her Pokeballs. "Did you make a new friend? He's going to need to rest for a while inside of his ball until we find another nurse." She was completely oblivious to the fact that the Pikachu had just tried to attack her. "Do you think this looks good?" She held up a stone a bit large than her own hand and shrugged. "I hope she'll like it. This was the nicest one I found." Hanako picked up both Kakuna and her bag, stopping just long enough to retrieve Pikachu's Pokeball before heading back towards Kintaro. Vervain was now convinced that protecting his trainer was going to be an exhausting process.
"Do you think this will work, Taro?" She asked when the finally made it back to the others, holding out the stone to Kintaro. Primrose was as upset with the state of Hanako as Vervain had assumed she would be and had taken to picking away at her trainer's clothing in an attempt to at least partially straighten the out. There was very little that could be done the state of the dress until it dried.

Kintaro Satoshi While Hanako was gone, Kintaro produced a small whetstone that Attica let him use in place of her favorite. He fully wished for Hanako to bring the stone to him, but he also knew that Attica disliked Hanako to a point that she would appreciate this spoiling that much less with the human around. To the Pawniard Kintaro's stiff hands were like magic as they maneuvered her limbs into the right position for him to sharpen her blades. They'd been together so long--nobody was willing to hire a Guide Pawniard--that Attica believed Kintaro knew her better than she knew herself and that made her smile. Kintaro finished cleaning and curing Attica by the time Hanako made it back. Attica jumped from the spot she had sat and approached Hanako while the young woman presented her with a large stone she could see herself using. It was a bit big for the little Pokemon, but she took it and scratched experimentally at the surface. It was a surprisingly complex process that looked like Attica was determined to break the stone. After digging small divots into the surface and nodding to herself, Attica flipped the stone over and began to sharpen her right hand blade to smooth out the wear she had caused testing her new stone. The blade sparked once against the stone once she finished and she gave a nod. "She's not used to receiving gifts. Pawniards have a reputation of being foul creatures." Kintaro remarked, explaining Attica's strange yet curt behavior. Hanako was definitely a rival, there was no doubting that cute little bimbo as a threat. At least she was a friendly kind of enemy.
Now that Kintaro was finished with caring for his Pawniard, and then treating his Metapod, he crouched down as the aches in his body refused to be ignored any longer. His posture was stiff and uncomfortable, but it was the best way he had found to keep his old bones under control. Mena managed to wander off well enough to get into a fight with a Fletchling while Kintaro was distracted with some personal maintenance. His expression remained forcefully blank and calm but it did not hide the way he trembled even as he popped joints back where they belonged. Mena scrambled back and forth with the wild bird, only getting a few scratches and knocking the creature out with her own hard head. How exactly she was even moving on her own was a mystery as she seemed to just be there any time Kintaro or Hanako looked in her direction and found a different spot each time she went unobserved by the humans. Kintaro sucked in a slow breath after he was sure he could keep his breathing steady and let it out. The man stood up slowly and flexed his right hand until the quivering stopped and he seemed perfectly normal. "In case you could not gather as much, she appreciates your gift." He added, realizing he had left Hanako with only half a statement. No point in telling her Attica was unused to gifts if she didn't know that Attica had accepted said gift. Kintaro made note of the wetness on Hanako's dress and gave a nod to her. "I hope the stream was gentle. The water can be quite cold around here." He remarked, calling attention to Hanako's issue that Primrose was already having conniptions about.

Hanako should have been excited that Attica liked her gift. Her hard work to find the perfect stone for the Pawniard had paid off. She was far too worried about Kintaro to be happy that her gift was accepted though. He may have looked okay after all was said and done but she was certain that popping had been anything but normal. Despite this she wouldn't question him about it. For all her ignorance when it came to interacting with other people Hanako was aware enough to avoid asking anything too serious or personal right away. If it was important enough to tell her then Kintaro could explain it to her if he ever reached a point where he trusted her enough to do so. Wanting to avoid the topic for the time being would not prevent her from asking if he was alright however. "Are you okay?" She asked, wanting to make sure that he wasn't in pain. The entire process had certainly sounded uncomfortable. Convinced affection made everything better, she hugged Kintaro, careful not to squish Kakuna between them, and smiled gently before addressing her irritated Illumise.
"The water felt amazing. I should have taken Zinnia with me. He would have loved it. Prim doesn't look too thrilled with my choice to search for a stone in the river itself though." She collected her Illumise in her free arm and hugged her as well. Eventually she would need to bring an end to her role as a Kakuna transport system and set him down. That would allow her to use both of her arms again. Mena seemed to be getting around just fine with the other Pokemon moving her about. That was the explanation Hanako had settled upon for how the Metapod seemed to be in a new place every time she managed to catch a glimpse of her. Bonding with the other Pokemon would be a good experience for Kakuna so she set him in front of Vervain after she freed Prim from her hug, moving the Drillbur's arms around Kakuna to keep him upright. Vervain appeared content with his new job, lazily leaning against the other Pokemon and yawning. It was as good a place to nap as any. After she was certain Vervain wouldn't just drop Kakuna she finally acknowledged the still upset Illumise. She set her bag on the ground and motioned towards it. "You pick out something else for me to wear and I'll take the dress off, okay?" This finally seemed to appease Primrose. She wasted no time in beginning to dig through her trainer's things for literally anything other than the wet dress for her to wear.
"That means I'm probably going to have to switch out my eyepatch too." She sighed and adjusted the flower eyepatch that she currently wore. Prim would probably be upset if it didn't match whatever she picked out. At least it would make the Illumise happy. Hanako shrugged helplessly, finally recalling the original conversation. "Foul creatures? Attica is the only Pawniard I've ever met but she seems perfectly fine to me. I'm glad she likes the stone. I wasn't sure what type she would like best. If she ever needs another one I would be happy to go searching again."

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro had watched Hanako out of the corner of his eye as he adjusted his joints. She hadn't quite reacted the way he expected, he appreciated that. His expression fell flat when she finally asked if he was alright. Just because she was being tactful about it didn't mean he was OK with her calling attention to his condition. "Minor joint pain. I was not a careful child." He remarked offhandedly, dismissing her concern with a wave. "How does that line go? 'It's a problem for Future Me'? I think that must have been my mantra." Kintaro was lying through his teeth, but he was so practiced at the lame excuses he made for his unusual joint pains and bone behavior that he sounded like someone telling a story so ridiculous it could only be true. He did have gaps in his memory, and he could only fully recall the event that made him this way because he had been told about it by everyone who knew. He was a lucky kid, surviving being crushed by a Tyrunt. Nobody really knew what that meant. It wasn't exactly normal to have something that heavy with that many sharp points fail to kill its victims. He glanced away at the mention of changing, taking a step back while Vervain went to work napping on Kakuna. He knelt down and looked at his other pupa Pokemon with a thoughtful frown. "You do not have a name. I should fix that." He mumbled thoughtfully. He was only lost in thought, so Hanako would have a good chance of hearing him. The man contemplated his poor Kakuna's lack of a proper name, considering everything he could--and should--do to come up with one. Everyone else came rather easily, Kintaro just couldn't follow his dark Kakuna's pattern like he did others. "You don't have to tell me about it. There are things I don't like talking about too." Hanako tapped the area beneath her eyepatch briefly then shrugged. She wouldn't say anything more on the topic. The Kintaro she was most worried about was the one here in front of her. Him being okay was what was important. Her attention was upon her Illumise once more when the Pokemon shoved her new outfit into her arms and began gesturing at her dress. Prim's patience with her trainer's less than perfect appearance. Hanako stared reluctantly down at the offered clothing, wishing she could just keep her dress on. It wasn't like it was dirty. Primrose would never let her hear the end of it if she did. "He's a strong little Kakuna. Once he's free of that cocoon he's bound to be an amazing Beedrill too." Hanako was sure she was speaking mostly to herself as she went to work changing out of her dress and into the simple shorts and shirt Prim had offered to her. In an incredible display of her ignorance concerning how other people usually functioned she made no attempt at hiding herself until it came time to switch out her eyepatch. Zinnia was allowed to climb up on top of her shoulder and tried to hide her face with the problematic dress until she finished switching the eyepatch out.
"Is this better, Prim?" Hanako smiled happily at her clearly mortified Pokemon. How any human could be so clueless was beyond her. She had a lot to teach Hanako. Primrose hoped to whatever merciful gods were listening that the other Pokemon and Kintaro were too distracted by whatever they were doing to notice her trainer's shamelessness. She took the dress from Zin and went to work attempting to fold it, all the while planning out her lessons for Hanako. "Do you think Prim's okay? Maybe she doesn't like the outfit after all." Hanako glanced over at Zinnia and shrugged. The Froakie was desperately trying not to laugh. She plucked him off of her shoulder, cuddling him close to herself as she too knelt down to study Kakuna. Vervain was already fast asleep by the time she joined Kintaro. "Since he's going to be amazing why not something like Kahuna?"

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro was too fixated on contemplating his Kakuna to realize where Hanako was going with this. He was almost constantly keeping one eye on the young woman with the expectation that she would A) vanish or B) get into trouble the moment she left his field of vision. He probably wasn't wrong, either. Hanako seemed like a creature ruled by wanderlust. Maybe it was the right thing for them to travel together. This poor girl needed a teacher and someone to look after her. It wasn't his job, but it was something with which he could occupy his mind. Speaking of occupying himself...Kintaro couldn't help turning his head to gape at the spectacle before him. Hanako threw her dress off like it was nothing and stood completely exposed for the briefest moment as she got her new outfit together and changed into that. Scarlet painted its way across Kintaro's flushed cheeks while there was the swift and sudden "SHING!" of Attica running her blades against one another. The Pawniard sprinted full speed at Hanako and lunged into the air at the young lady's back. Before she could actually make contact, Kintaro snapped her Pokeball up and firmly declared "Return!" before she was swallowed up by the crimson light and dragged back into her ball. "Ms. Lucali!" He couldn't keep the frustration out of his voice having just had an incredibly beautiful thing just expose herself to him. "What exactly do you think you're doing?!" He demanded, standing up straight at first while she was likely shocked by the sudden aggressive tone for something she didn't understand was a "bad" thing to do.
After things with Hanako's nudity settled, Kintaro was back to watching Kakuna who was busy trying to stretch his stiff arms up and back down just to know that he could. "I highly doubt it's the outfit that upset her, Ms. Lucali." Kintaro remarked as he continued to watch Kakuna's valiant efforts. They wouldn't go far and it was making the little thing inside the shell growl with frustration. "Mm. Kahuna, huh? That sounds...lazy." He mused, looking down at Kakuna thoughtfully before shrugging. "But, if you're going to work that hard to move when you're supposed to be resting and preparing for evolution, I suppose I should give you something simple to use." Kahuna wasn't sure if he should be offended, but he appreciated the idea of having an easy name to remember. "Kahuna, then. The mighty Beedril who will change the world." Kintaro mused with a small smile. Kahuna paused at the thought, bringing his arms back down and clicking them back into place on his shell. It hurt to move anyway, he would do his best to keep focused and only move when he had to...for now. Hanako could not have looked more confused in response to Kintaro's tone if she tried. She looked up immediately, assuming she had accidentally disturbed a nest or was about to have another Kakuna attempt to sneak into her lap. When she saw nothing she wrote it off as the Pokemon leaving before she could see it. If she had noticed Attica lunge at her she didn't say anything about it. She did, however, notice the temporary change in color of Kintaro's face. That worried her. As soon as things seemed to settle back down she rested her hand against his forehead, frowning slightly. "No fever...Weird." She muttered to herself as she moved her hand away so she could pet Kahuna. Maybe the wild Pokemon had startled Kintaro? That must have been it. "If it's not the outfit then what could it be? Unless..." She trailed off, letting her head hang miserably. "I didn't realize I was that terrible looking." Zinnia reached up and patted her cheek, though this did very little to reassure her. Hanako shook her head as if hoping to shake away the negative thoughts before turning the majority of her attention to Kintaro and Kahuna. "Do you think I could fit a Beedril in my lap?" It was an odd question but she was genuinely curious. Evolving might make Kahuna a bit too big to cuddle him like she had been. Even if it did she would figure out some way to continue to cuddle her dear bug friend the same way she did the other Pokemon that would let her. "Change the world...I like that. It makes him sound like a hero." She grinned at the thought. "He's going to be the best Beedril."

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro sighed at the horribly skewed logic Hanako seemed to possess. He supposed there was no such thing as a perfect being, but that didn't make him less confused with her perception. "I'm no expert on aesthetic, but I do not think that is what she is upset about." He folded his arms as he decided a tactful approach was best. "And of course I don't have a fever. People will flush when they are embarrassed. Sometimes it may also be a result of a shock from their normal experiences. Like someone undressing publicly." He pointed out, not at all subtle but not telling her it was actually bad to be stripping like that. Or maybe it was only perceived to be bad...Why was he questioning the validity of public decency?! At least Hanako hadn't literally changed clothes in front of him. He'd have to be more worried about it then. He looked to the young trainer now that she was decent and he was confirmed to not be "sick." She was seriously contemplating how to hold Kahuna when he evolved. "They are large for bugs, but not that large. It may prove uncomfortable, but you should be able to hold him as long as you mind the stinger. He seems to like you. I don't think he would forgive himself if he stung you." He added, hoping to drive home the idea that his Beedril--err, Kakuna--would not appreciate if she was hurt because of him.
Kintaro sighed as Mena found her way over to a sneaking Pansear. It was like he had a sixth sense of things coming their way. "Mary, please don't let Mena get hurt." He informed his Shinx, glancing down at her as she got up to pad toward the Metapod and Pansear. Mary was distracted by the sight of the fiery simian. Her eyes shone and the Pansear took on an alluring light to the young, wayward Shinx. Mena, on the other hand, took this opportunity to bite the ever-loving crap out of Pansear. She bit what she thought was monkey flesh but turned out to be a berry which she happily sucked dry after dealing all the damage that she could. Kintaro frowned as he turned around to see Mary swooning while Pansear scratched on Mena's sturdy shell. He picked a Pokeball out from his pack and tossed it over Mary's head. The Shinx cried out in dismay when Pansear vanished into the Pokeball and Mena pouted. So much for getting stronger and ready to move on. The Metapod turned an annoyed eye on Mary, somehow blaming her for Kintaro's decision to catch the flaming monkey. Probably not a bad idea...he might have burned her otherwise. And a Fire Type would help the party overall. Curse Kintaro's sensible decision! Kintaro would get a stern thinking-to when she evolved and learned Psychic! He looked to Hanako while Pansear's Pokeball disappeared and gave her a quick nod. "I hope so. It would be unfortunate to train a villain, you know? I'm not prepared to be responsible for the end of the world." He remarked as if the concept were not as worrisome as he just said it to be. To create an evil Pokemon just meant he would have to change their behavior, improve his own ability as a trainer. He didn't mind the concept of a challenge. "I should probably start on Gandor before I raise another villain. He was not well-behaved when we met." Kintaro was still avoiding actually sharing details of his relationship and meeting with his Rotom. He just didn't think anyone would believe what really happened. And he still had to figure out what really happened last night.

"Why would that be embarrassing though?" Hanako was at a loss. She picked at her shirt as she thought it over. Eventually she gave up on the thought, switching her focus to something she considered to be more important anyways. "You and our Pokemon don't count as the public." She corrected as she carefully extracted Kahuna from Vervain's arms. The Drillbur slipped on to the ground as soon as he lost his support, though even this wasn't enough to wake him. She was convinced he could sleep through anything. "You're my friends. I'm pretty sure that means not-public." Hanako held both Zinnia and Kahuna close to herself, wishing she was able to fit Vervain in her arms as well so he wouldn't be stuck on the ground. "I like Kahuna too. He's a sweet little bug." She kissed the top of Kahuna's head before turning her attention to Mena, Mary, and their new Pansear friend.
"They looked like they were having fun." She commented after the Pansear had been caught. Now that the Pokemon was part of Taro's group she was sure they would have plenty of opportunities to play with the adorable little monkey. "I don't think any of your Pokemon will turn out to be villains. They have a good trainer." Hanako smiled at Taro before looking back down at Vervain. Lily had made her way over to him and had proceeded to attempt to nudge him awake with her foot. They were in the middle of a forest with who knows how many wild Pokemon roaming around nearby. This was no time to be sleeping! Instead of waking him the Fletchling found herself trapped in Vervain's arms as he clung to her as if she were a stuffed animal. She cried out loudly in protest and began thrashing about in an attempt to free herself. This was the exact opposite of what she had wanted! Hanako tried her best not to smile since it would only upset Lily, setting Zinnia down so she could free the Fletchling from her Drillbur prison. As soon as she was free she knocked her head against Vervain's, dazing herself when her attempt at pecking him failed miserably. Vervain's head was harder than it looked. Lily sat down where she was and took to staring off at nothing while she attempted to collect herself.
"I haven't interacted with Gandor too much but he seems like a good Pokemon to me. Perhaps he'll improve with enough positive attention?" She wanted to think the best of the Rotom, despite knowing next to nothing about it beyond it probably being an Electric type. Speaking of Electric types, she had completely forgotten to tell Kintaro about her new friend! "Vervain caught a Pikachu while we were at the river earlier." He had done all the work so it was technically his catch as far as Hanako was concerned. "It's the cutest little thing! I wish I knew what had upset Ver enough to knock the poor thing out. He's usually such a gentle Pokemon." The Drillbur in question had finally woken up, though he didn't even try to acknowledge the Pikachu incident at first. He was entirely focused on something off in the trees. Whatever it was, he didn't like it, but he decided there was no need to alert Kintaro or Hanako just yet. The Drillbur sat up, lifting two of his claws and positioning them along the side of his head roughly where a Pikachu's ears would be. He didn't know how to go about explaining the Pikachu scare to them so he settled for showing them he understood what Hanako was referring to.

Kintaro Satoshi Things were strange, Kintaro had no doubts about that. He had a young woman who didn't understand that stripping out in the open was problematic and he was gathering a collection of strange little creatures himself. Mary was still pouting about her "love" disappearing and Kintaro could only assume she meant the Pansear. Mena just looked irritated that he'd caught the Pokemon. One couldn't grow stronger if they didn't learn from their encounters. She was bitter that he had "saved" her from the wild monkey. "No, it's not public, but would you have done any differently if it had been Santalune City you decided to change?" He remarked, thinking that Hanako had made a decision based solely on what she needed and not where she was. Maybe she didn't need to worry about him, but that didn't mean it was alright to just undress in front of him. He would have to work a bit harder on that, he supposed. Hanako was not someone that needed to be harassed for her social missteps. Especially one that could get her hurt.
The case worker couldn't help but make a disturbed face when Hanako mentioned Mena was playing with his new Pansear. "I don't think that's exactly how battle works." He pointed out as he picked up Mena and returned Mary to her ball. The Shinx had taken to pouting after Pansear left and he wasn't willing to deal with such a behavior right now. "We should keep moving along. The forest is quite large. I'm hoping to be in Santalune City tonight and I haven't taken the opportunity to do anything about that." Kintaro added as he ran his fingers over Mena's back. He could feel Attica shaking in her Pokeball and knew she had witnessed the affection. He sprayed a Potion onto Mena's scratches, rubbing the wounds as they began to fill with the healing stuff and grow thick with fresh chitin invigorated by the spray. He raised his head to acknowledge Hanako again. The vote of confidence was...weird. Not that he didn't expect her to say something to that effect, but Kintaro wasn't used to the idea of being viewed in a positive light. He avoided directly interacting with the people he trained Pokemon to help and he had been with Aly for so long that her praises were a white noise in the back of his mind. She praised him for everything, even when he failed. He didn't want another Aly, even if she had been the best thing to happen in his life. He only needed one battery of unbearably bright positivity. Hanako was shy and anxious so far. He didn't like the way she deprecated herself, but it at least offset her painfully naive understanding of the world. "Perhaps he may. He seems far more docile now than this morning. Perhaps he simply required capture. Rotom are known for mischief, according to stories. He may be willing to harness that for his trainer." Kintaro mused, going off on his own little tangent on what was going on with his Rotom.
When she brought up her Drillbur catching a Pikachu for her Kintaro had to look down to Vervain who was currently imitating his quarry. "You caught it?" He looked from Vervain up to Hanako. "How?" He understood that a Pokemon could pick up a Pokeball and throw it. A Drillbur, he imagined, would struggle just to pick one up. Which Vervain may very well have done with his massive claws. Kintaro couldn't simply assume that he had mastered the art of manipulating objects. On the mention of what set the Drillbur off, Kintaro only made eye contact with Vervain briefly. He didn't instantly learn the events that transpired, but the look he received from Vervain would be all he needed to understand that Pikachu had made a mistake and Vervain had punished it. Pikachu had done nothing, so nothing was wrong. Hanako instantly shuddered at the thought of being around that many strangers, let alone undressing in front of them. If she did she risked her clothing catching her eyepatch and accidentally removing it. She tensed up, carefully adjusting her eyepatch just to make sure it was in its correct position. "Too many strangers." She stated simply, her voice only just above that same timid whisper she insisted upon speaking in when she first met Kintaro. "You and our Pokemon don't count as strangers, Taro." At the mention of leaving the forest Hanako appeared to deflate even further. Leaving the forest meant dealing with a lot of people again. She knew it was something she would need to do eventually but that didn't mean it was something she looked forward to. With Kintaro around she hoped it wouldn't be as bad. She didn't want to bother Kintaro by voicing her fears of the city, so she decided to focus on getting her Pokemon together instead. Poor Lily was stumbling about, still dazed by her effort to punish Vervain.
"Poor baby." She frowned when the little bird collided with a tree and stood to retrieve her. She couldn't let the poor thing wander around on her own until she recovered. Vervain watched his trainer closely until he was certain she was too distracted to notice what he was doing before poking at Kintaro's leg with his claws, making sure to be extra careful so he didn't risk hurting the human. He tapped on the ground in front of himself to draw attention to it then dug his claws in the dirt, carefully tracing a circular shape with a wavy line beneath it, then a smaller circle a short distance away with several sharp shapes that vaguely looked like lightning around it. It was the best explanation for what had happened that he could give. He clawed at the dirt to hide the drawing as soon as it sounded like Hanako was going to return to them. There was no need for her to know what had happened. Informing Kintaro, however, felt important. Hanako viewed the Pikachu as another friend. Vervain needed to make sure that Kintaro knew that it might not be the most pleasant thing when it was finally awake again. He liked to think that the more responsible of the two trainers would know what to do about the Pikachu if it acted up.
Vervain stopped digging when it appeared the Hanako was still too busy with Lily to come back. He decided to attempt to answer Kintaro's question next, awkwardly collecting a small stone with his claws and pressing it against Kintaro's leg, shaking his head lazily. Trying to catch the Pikachu himself hadn't worked. He then pointed at Hanako and attempted to throw the little stone, shrugging when it fell almost directly beside him. Vervain hadn't caught the Pikachu but Hanako was giving him all of the credit.
"Um...Taro? I-I have a question." Hanako wasn't exactly sure how to phrase what she wanted to ask when she rejoined them with Lily now resting on her shoulder. It sounded so silly. "I...um...This is going to sound really dumb. I planned on taking a picture with my Pokemon in every new place I visit. I don't know how far I'm actually going to get and I wanted a good way to remember all of the places I had been and..." She was flustered and as a result had started rambling again. She blushed, appearing to have suddenly developed a fascination with the ground with how she stared at it. "I wanted to know if you would be okay with being in the picture too." Kintaro was her first human friend. That was definitely something worth remembering and she didn't think asking would hurt anything. "You don't have to. I-it just seems like it would be fun."

Kintaro Satoshi Hanako's Drillbur proved an interesting little devil. He had given Kintaro everything necessary to understand with their shared look, but he was determined to explain himself. "I see." Kintaro repeated with a slight nod. He scuffed his foot across the dirt after Vervain's picture served its purpose. Pikachu could have done some terrible things had it not been for Vervain. The man plucked the rock out of the Drillbur's awkward claws and held it up. "You're trying to work like a human." Kintaro declared calmly, dropping the rock from one hand so that it fell into the palm of the other. "You're not made for fine motor manipulation. Your claws are larger than your paws. Use them." He explained further, demonstrating by flattening the hand with the stone and making a scooping motion causing the rock to fly away. "If you're going to catch Pokemon for your trainer, perhaps you should learn how a Drillbur throws before you cause yourself a headache." Kintaro pointed out, reminding Vervain that he wasn't built like a human. It made no sense for his style to reflect techniques he couldn't properly use. He crouched lower, demonstrating the scoop once again but without a stone in hand this time. "Just apply your natural abilities in a new manner. In this case, you're 'digging' at the sky." He instructed Vervain. The Drillbur was a good fellow, and Kintaro was more than willing to teach him anything he might need to better help Hanako.
Hanako interrupted the lesson, but Kintaro didn't mind that at all. Vervain was smart and learning quickly. The request didn't sit as well as it should have. He didn't want to take a picture, but he didn't want Hanako to feel as though she were being spurned. And her staggering through the request was so sweet for her to think of him. "If you must.get a photo, let us get it taken care of." He spoke calmly, unintentionally using his aloof business voice. It certainly wasn't a negative tone of voice, but he did find that people were put off by a statement like it He let Mena out of his arms and returned her after the quick stretch. He now had only Kahuna and Hawke out, though neither were particularly keen on the idea of helping out. With this being Hanako's request--and show--he only followed along with the young woman, planting suggestions into her mind to go and do so sooner rather than later. He got Hawke and Kahuna together whether either Pokemon wanted to deal with the other or not. He wasn't willing to bring the full team out, however, informing Hanako of such and asking her to get the position best for her photo he felt would have the best impact based on some simple positioning. Kintaro sighed while Hanako prepared her best shot until he could finally assume the photo was taken with all of Hanako's friends piled on around them. Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro moved quickly into the forest, following Mena's directions as the Butterfree managed to force herself to remember almost perfectly where they had been. Signs of struggle and broken Pokeballs littered the ground where Mena and Mary had been ambushed. He knelt at a scorch mark that showed the outline of his Luxio's paw, then looked to Mena for help. "I need you to focus, Mena. Call Mary. We have to get her back." He whispered patiently to his Butterfree. Mena processed the minds around her slowly, but she made sure to continue her job. Mary had taken to fighting even when they were both in no condition to do so. Mena ran away. It may have been the best decision to make given their situation but she still felt awful for abandoning her partner. "Mary! We're here! Mary! Mary! We came back! I said we'd come back!" Mena called out, getting a mixed bag of reactions from various creatures around them. Kintaro wanted to question what the nature of her declaration was even supposed to mean, but he bit his tongue as it occurred to him that Mary might think he wouldn't come for her. His expression fell and he scratched Mena gently on the back of her head.The Butterfree looked up to her trainer and pointed out further ahead. "Thank you, Mena. Get some rest. We'll go to the Center after this. OK?" He offered his Butterfree, hoping she would be OK with waiting a little longer to be healed. He should have gone back right away. Kintaro Satoshi Attica and Odyss were released from their balls next, sent out together with quick directions from Kintaro. "Attica, I need you to scout ahead. Odyss, be ready for a fight. Somebody has Mary." He grit his teeth, unwilling to accept that his poor behavior was anything to excuse letting Mary feel like she wasn't worth protecting. Viola had already nailed him with her remarks about being more empathetic to his Pokemon. He just needed time...He was supposed to have time! That still didn't make it right. Mary had been mistreated like one of the rescue Pokemon he was trained to help. She never should have been put in a position where she had to think that way. Attica raced off ahead without a word. She recognized his stress. He was beating himself up over something and even if the Pawniard didn't think much of the Luxio, she wasn't going to make it worse on her boss. She was even willing to fight for Mary's wellbeing! The Pawniard seemed to disappear save for the frequent "shink!" of her blades tearing through the underbrush. Odyss fidgeted as they jogged after Attica. Odyss had no idea how to handle everything around him. Attica was eager to help, Boss was real upset. The little Quilladin was dealing with a lot of things he wasn't used to yet and he didn't know how to feel about any of it. He would just have to hope things were going to work out. He at least had the problem with Mary to focus on. Kintaro Satoshi As the pair moved deeper into the forest, they could make out the sound of a young woman shouting at something. That shouting changed from shrill frustration to panicked screaming. Kintaro looked down to Odyss who stared back in shock. The males began running to find Attica tearing into the earth at a girl's feet. The ball that had been in her hand flew and bounced off Attica's head to hit Mary who was laid out and bruised by multiple Pokeballs scattered all around. Someone had been trying to catch his Luxio and never got the hint when she wouldn't get into the ball. Attica was trying to tear that person apart now that she'd caught up with the cause of her gang's distress. "AHH! EEK! GET AWAY FROM ME!" Cried the young lady. She kept throwing balls at the Pawniard for lack of a better option. Kintaro whistled shrilly and Attica stopped as she was about to stab the girl's leg. He made a quick signal and Attica stepped back. "There are so many different things wrong with everything you have been trying to do that I don't think anyone would hold it against me if I gave my Pawniard an order to kill you." He stated calmly. "No one would doubt that she acted on her own. But I am not an unreasonable person. If you can explain what it was you thought, I may only turn you into the police." He folded his hands behind his back and waited for an answer. What he got was nothing like he was expecting. The girl had stared at him from the start but appeared to be unfocused. "HEY! YOU GET AWAY FROM MY LUXIO! I FOUND HER! YOU LEAVE HER ALONE!" The woman shouted at him. "SHE'S MINE! I CAUGHT HER! YOU WON'T STEAL MY LUXIO FROM ME!" She hadn't heard a word he said.
