Vaniville Town

Ryoku went south first to go back to his home town but he decided to go further south first. He wanted to start where he knew some good potential partners were. He knew very well that Santalune's gym was a bug gym as he had watched the gym grow since he was young. He sighed lightly as he found some tall grass and began searching for a Pokemon. His long slender legs slowly bent each blade of grass with each step. He could hear the light noises of bunellby running around and fletchlings singing in the air. "A fletchling should be the perfect start to my team." He said to himself before letting frokie who had been walking beside him climb up his shoulder. "You ready buddy?" He asked his partner, "we might get our first friend here!" He looked around and listened closely to find his first wild encounter.

The warm air was very refreshing. The weather in Kalos was the usual sunny, with slight overcasts every now and then. "So Amber what would you like to do first?" He spoke to his partner with a smile on his face. The Fennekin looked up like he heard something that grabbed his attention. A familiar sound of wings could be heard, growing steadily louder, as if something was closing in. Cam looked up into the sky as well. All he could see was a few small clouds, one small cloud had dropped a blue dot that was approaching his face fast.

*Bam* Cameron fell over as he got hit in the face by something warm, and kinda hard. "Riooooooolu" The familiar Pokemon name sent a warm pulse down his spine. Cameron removed the Pokemon on top of his face to get a better look. Sure enough it was Adamus, one of his childhood Pokemon friends. Cameron sat up to see Amber talking to his mother's Altaria. At least that is what it looked liked, if saying your name repeatedly to another being that can only say it's name repeatedly, counts as a form of communication. Than they were definitely talking. Cameron sat petting Adamus and watching the conversation. He made no move towards the giant fluffy cloud bird. Seeing as how they did not get along, even after spending so much time in the manor.

Amber came up to him, holding a parcel in his mouth. Inside was to envelops, and a stone like egg. Cameron decided to open up the first envelope that was addressed to him.

The trip had been short and uneventful for the trio, it had only taken a day and a half to reach Vaniville Town, the weather had been nice and the boat moved right along without issue. Totodile had just begun to grow restless as they spotted shore and Carter decided to let him burn off some steam by swimming next to the boat with Dragonair. If they had been on a pond or lake he would have let the little guy swim longer but an ocean is much different for a Pokémon who dwells in a closed body of water.

Carter did admit though that Totodile took to swimming in the ocean like he was a Sharpedo and he was proud of how feisty the little guy was. Where Totodile was feisty and loud Dragonair was the opposite, she was lithe and graceful. It was almost like watching art to see the young dragon swim.


His enjoyment at watching the two swim was short lived as they made their way to the dock and the two came to shore to meet him. His blue eyes scanned the unfamiliar town as he walked down the dock to his two waiting Pokemon. He wanted to keep them both out but Dragonair was too large and liable to knock into things he would have to put her away for now, " I hate to do this but you have to go back into your pokeball for a bit, there isn't enough room to have you oitncomfortably. I'm sorry girl." He said, almost in a whisper as he rubbed her snout. She merely hummed and didn't protest any before returning to her capsule to rest.

Totodile stared up at him with his sharp eyes before he nodded toward the town ahead of them, " let's get up there, I want to see wha Pokemon are around here. Maybe get you some battles under your belt." Totodile nodded, he had been wanting to show his skill in battle to his trainer, wanted to prove himself however he could and it looked like he was getting closer and closer.

The two nodded to each other in unison before Carter shifted his back pack on his shoulders and they headed into the heart of the town, keeping their eyes and ears open for any Pokemon that wanted a piece of the action.

His pokedex came out to identify the small red and black bird in front of them, it was a level 4 Fletchling, Normal/Flying type. Totodile's tail was swaying back and forth vigorously as he waited for his first command. 

"Let it close the distance and trust me, listen to my words and I'll get you in for a hit!" Carter said, his hands turning to fists as he watched the bird ruffle its feathers and try and make itself appear larger. It knew a fight was coming and like all wild animals it lashed out, it flitted through the air right toward Totodile. "Dive forward and keep your legs under you to jump up when its right above you!" Carter yelled.

Totodile didn't even flinch or hesitate as Carter gave the command, in a blur of blue and red he shot forward before leaping up at the exposed under side of the red and black bird, "now scratch its stomach!" Carter said, his right hand shooting out as if he were a part of the battle. Totodile obeyed, his left clawed paw slashed through the feathers of the Pokémon and sent it spinning into a wall before it collapses onto the cobblestone. It had taken one hit and Totodile took it down without being wounded, Carter's left hand shot out to a waiting empty pokeball. As if on instinct he hurled the ball toward the fainted Pokémon and pegged it, the ball opening and a flash of red light the Pokémon, pulling it in before closing and shaking against the ground.

Three shakes, it happened so quickly Carter almost didn't realize that it had happened. He had captured his first Pokémon in an actual battle for the first time in almost 12 years, his team has grown but now he needed to find a Pokémon center to heal his new partner.

Azimov Von Galliteu

   Their training session done, Azimov pulled his Froakie back. The little frog juke the laser twice, croaking with delight before it let itself be returned to the pokeball. As it dissapeared, Azimov laughed softly, shaking his head. The tall man walked to a small cafe and perused the wares, trying his best not to judge the quality too harshly. He ordered some coffee and what looked to be the most acceptable scone the place had and sat down for breakfast. Having a thought, he got another treat and let his Froakie back out. The frog croaked loudly, the man trying to quiet him down, as it saw the scone laid out for him. After a few minutes of relatively peaceful breakfast, Filuo blinked, looking around. "Something wrong, Filuo? I realize the scones are a bit dry, but I'm sure you can still eat..." Azimov started, then jumped slightly as Filuo croaked at him irritably, obviously trying to shut him up. Azimov was about to say something when the frog jumped up, hopping out of the cafe quickly. Azimov ran after it. The froakie led the tall man almost twice around the town before darting in between two building. Azimov rounded the corner to see an odd sight. Filuo was on top of an ant-like pokemon, tugging at something wrapped around it's huge mouth. Azimov raised an eyebrow at the whole situation. He walked over and picked the frog up, moving him to the side. Azimov knelt down and examined the frightened pokemon. "How did you get caught up in this...?" The man hooked one of his fingers into the plastic loop that had the trapinch caught and pulled at it, freeing the ant. "There..." immediately, the pokemon leapt back and clicked dagerously at Azimov. He sighed and looked down at the aggressive little pokemon. "Alright, you are free, goodbye little one." Azimov turned away and started walking, but felt a tug at his leg. He looked down to see the trapinch biting his pants leg. "Would you like to come with me?" Azimov asked the ant. The trapinch looked around, almost nervously. Azimov laughed softly and dropped a pokeball from his belt, landing on the ant. The ball shook a bit, but almost immediately dinged. "That was an interesting first catch..." Azimov regarded the new pokeball. "Tueuse, yes, that makes sense..." Azimov chuckles.

"It is time that we get going," Vesper said to the pokemon in aer bag, "Off to the first town, perhaps there will be a library there and I can find some leads on some myths or folklore of this region." With that ae grabbed aer bag and began to head towards the gate of town.

"Wait," a panting voice called out. Vesper turned to face the voice and saw a person with a messenger bag running up to aer. "Are you Miss Vesper?"

"No," Vesper replied, "Not 'miss', just Vesper."

"My apollogies sir-"

"No!" ae was getting noticeably agitated at this point, "Not 'sir', not 'ma'am', not 'miss' or 'mister' just Vesper!"

"Umm, sorry, uh, Vesper. But umm, I have a package for you, sent from Ecruteak City in the Johto Region," the messenger pulled out a package from their bag and extended it to Vesper. Vesper took the package and opened it. Inside was a red pokeball with the gold etched logo of the Ecruteak Dance Theatre and a folded up letter sealed in wax with the same logo impressed into it. The letter read "V, good luck on your journey, we love you very much and here is a present which we hope will assist you on your travels. Her name is Delphi, I hope she reminds you of home. -Mom"


The messenger left and Vesper activated the pokeball and out emerged a green espeon.

Vesper rushed back into town.

"Someone, please," ae called, "this pokemon needs help!"

An older woman ran out into the street, a small spray bottle in her hand. "We don't have a pokemon center here, but this should work." She sprayed some of the bottle onto the pokemon and its wounds healed. "You silly, um...Boy? Girl? uh...do you not have any potions with you?"

Vesper blushed slightly, "Sorry I didn't think about it."

"Now, Dear, you should probably let it rest in a pokeball."

Vesper realized that ae didn't have the pokemon's ball and ae couldn't use one of aers to try to contain it as it technically belonged to someone else.

Kintaro was lost in thought as he traveled with his Pokemon. Odiss was bored. Painfully so. The Chespin tripped up Kintaro when he tried to bump Attica to get her to play with him. This caused Attica to stagger forward and slice one of her little knife-edged hands into the man's calf in her attempt to balance. Odiss yelped and tumbled to safety as Kintaro shouted out in pain and tumbled onto the ground in front of Attica. "Attica! What was that for!? That hurt!" He nursed the stinging in his leg and scowled at the sharp edge Pokemon while Odiss coyly hid from the exchange by hugging the ground and making his cap look like a tuft of grass. Attica flailed in protest, shaking her knife hands at Odiss and trying to insist that it was the new kid's fault! Now Attica was in trouble and Odiss couldn't help but feel guilty for the grief. It was him, after all, and Attica wasn't entirely rude to the Chespin. The little chipmunk Pokemon waddled up next to Attica and hung his head, vocalizing his confession as Attica looked shocked that he even came over when the two were shouting. "Odiss? How did you--?" Attica imitated what Odiss did, standing behind the Chespin and turning her head as she bumped him so she didn't cut him with her forehead blade. Odiss stumbled forward in shock before glancing up at Kintaro whom he now stood in front of. "Oh, right. You're not like Attica." Kintaro remarked, having to remind himself that Odiss would have been no different than a new recruit at the agency. He needed training too, just like Attica already had. The Chespin flinched when Kintaro reached out and flicked him squarely on the forehead. "Don't do that again, Odiss. Attica is a trained Pawniard. She can help people with disabilities get around. She keeps me from falling down when I get distracted." Odiss listened with awe. He didn't actually understand what Kintaro was talking about, but he did understand that his new best friend was some kind of hero Pokemon! Attica had an anxious sweat drop appear as the Chespin turned and gazed on her with admiring starlit eyes. She wanted to cut him again. Attica wasn't used to adoring looks. She was a walking knife set after all. Nobody thought Pawniard was a "cute" or "sweet" Pokemon.

With Odiss at least partly educated on how to proceed, the walk was easier to have. Odiss was still bored, but he wasn't about to distract a helper Pokemon from doing her job! The Chespin took his difficult life right on the chin like a stalwart fellow should! For...a whole five minutes. He began making exaggerated sighs and whining as the trio began to make their way out of Vaniville. Master was so boring! How was a heroic Chespin like him supposed to be a hero without anything to hero about!? Attica was watching Odiss this time, nearly missing a rock for Kintaro as a result, but still achieving her given duty. Odisss let out an exaggerated whine, making Kintaro glance at his Chespin with confusion. He looked down at Attica who was now looking back up at her trainer when he stopped. "Is he OK?" Attica gave a slow shrug and shook her head. Odiss wailed his protest and declared he'd be fine if he had something to do. Attica made some signs using her full body since she lacked digits to make hand signs and relayed Odiss' complaint. "Think he can learn programming?" Attica had to choke back a snort at the absurd suggestion that her foolish companion could learn to work the Pokedex, let alone learn what Kintaro was doing! In spite of the laughter, Kintaro walked over to Odiss much to Attica's chagrin. It bothered her when Kintaro paid attention to other Pokemon. "Alright, Odiss. If you're so bored, you're going to learn to read." Kintaro declared, mounting the Chespin on top of his head. Odiss lay on his belly, staring in wonder at the confusing patterns on Kintaro's tablet screen. "This is computer code. This is what makes up everything important for machines to do their job. It's unorthodox, but I'm going to teach you to read codes first. Teaching you to read and write will take a while, and you want something to do now." Kintaro explained, making it sound like he was doing the Chespin a favor when really he was hoping to confuse the poor thing to the point where he wouldn't cry for a task again for a little while. The worst that could happen was successfully teaching a Chespin how to write computer software.

If it hadn't been for Attica nudging Kintaro a little more sharply, he would have completely missed the boy addressing him. He didn't think too hard on what Vesper was, and he decided that the creature near him was likely enough to be male. "Hm? Me? Not really. I'm on vacation. Can't you tell?" He answered, adjusting his glasses against the light. It was a bit of morbid humor, giving the other person a sense that he was not comfortable speaking to them in the first place, let alone discussing his embarrassingly late venture into Pokemon Training...well, technically anyway. Odiss waved enthusiastically from atop Kintaro's head, beaming at Vesper and the Phantump floating in behind them. "Odiss, behave. He doesn't need a life story." Kintaro remarked, looking up from his new acquaintance to the bored Chespin. Odiss deflated immediately and made a far less enthusiastic effort to greet Vesper. His trainer definitely was not one of the heroes he wanted to be with. Although Kintaro appeared rude, he was also very rigid and formal and nothing about him indicated he was comfortable with anything going on today. Except Attica. Attica made him feel less vulnerable. The Pawniard looked upon Vesper and immediately decided she didn't like the human. Kintaro viewed the stranger as a male, Attica saw a pretty female, and Attica was jealous of pretty humans in any form. She stood behind Kintaro now, peering out from behind his pant leg with a menacing leer aimed at Vesper for daring to talk to her trainer. It was the worst the person could expect to deal with, but that didn't make the walking knife set that was a Pawniard less intimidating.
