From there she recalled spending a bit of time in Ecruteak City, meeting Nara, but then everything sped out of control so fast that she didn’t even have the drive for gym badges any more. Darkrai attacked and she was trapped in his realm more times than she would like to recount, Missingno had attacked twice, hence the time she had spent in the Kanto Region for the first attack, it seemed that there was much more trouble in traveling the world than she had initially planned on, and she wasn’t still sure how to process it all. She knew all of those experiences made her stronger than she had been before, but did they make her a stronger trainer, or hinder her from accomplishing so much more? She knew that her cousin was a prodigy now, it was hard to ignore the news here and there when she would see it in passing or on the television of a Pokemon Center. The young Emiri Virray, a trainer hailing from the small Pallet Town in Kanto whom had taken the region by storm, earning badges, competing in races around the world, influencing everyone she met. It was like there was a shadow cast now from her cousin’s accomplishments, even her mother and father had commented on how interesting it would be to have a family member that was part of the Elite Four and the Pokemon League hierarchy, and what did Rhienne have to show for any of the things she had done or the time that she had been out on her journey?

It was daunting to her somehow, that even though she hadn’t initially set out to gain gym badges and challenge the Pokemon League, she now felt like she had missed out on so much involving gym battles and challenges. She had seven badges from one region, and as far as she was concerned there were eight badges that one could get from just one region, so she did know that was a small milestone, but what about other regions and other gym leaders? She’d never once challenged any of the gyms in Kanto despite it being so close a region to travel to, and past that, she had never been to another region otherwise. She couldn’t decide if that really mattered to her or not, but since Skylar had brought up the question, as though he was looking up to her for advice and to inquire about her experiences, she didn’t feel like she really had that much to show for anything. That was especially true since she was never too keen on sharing her experiences in Darkrai’s Realm or what happened during the two missingno attacks she had been called to aid. She didn’t exactly feel like scaring Skylar into going back home and not exploring the possibilities of being a Pokemon trainer, so when Skylar asked how many gym badges she had, or what experiences she had to share, she almost felt like she didn’t have much at all.

Being in this new region though, having left what she felt like had been a security blanket of sorts behind when she left the boundaries of the Johto Region, Rhienne wondered what such a new environment might yield for her. She could already tell, just by standing there in the middle of this city that it was nothing like the Johto Region, nothing like the traditional values and calm environment of Ecruteak City that she had grown up in. Everything was new, from the architecture to the feel and energy of the people and the things around her. She knew that of course this new region meant there were gyms and leaders that she had not yet challenged, and that already seemed to lift just a bit of weight off of her shoulders. There wasn’t much else for her in Johto, not much for her to do or see or experience that she hadn’t already, unless of course she ever mustered the gall to challenge Clair, but right now, returning to the Johto Region didn’t have much appeal to her. New gyms and new challenges, and even new Pokemon meant that she could focus her energies into her battling skills since even just being in this city for the little bit that she had been there were Pokemon that she didn’t recognize. There were small gray bird Pokemon that she had never seen before, and a few smaller rodent looking Pokemon with large red eyes. Young kids ran around with some small brown puppies yipping at their feet, and of course there were trainers who were from this region that had their own Pokemon that she had no idea about.

That was a thought that occurred to her then though, a Pokemon she had no idea about. There was still the matter of the Pokemon that that boy on the reserve had given her in exchange for… Well, in exchange for what she still wasn’t entirely sure. It didn’t exactly seem like a peace offering to give away a Pokemon that she now had to explain things to; why it wasn’t with its original trainer, why he gave it away to another trainer and that it was never going to see the boy again. That seemed like more of a burden than it did an offering, especially since she had already been through this exact thing before with one of her oldest companions. She knew Valor was trying to remain distant the situation as a whole, but she could tell that the dragon was bitter about it. He too was taken from his trainer with little to no explanation, and though Rhienne was young and naïve at the time, it really didn’t excuse her actions of capturing the black Dratini she had found in the middle of the forest that day. But now here they were with another Pokemon whom had probably become use to their life with their first trainer, or that was what Rhienne was assuming since the boy had mentioned this was his starter Pokemon from the Professor, so knowing that the Pokemon knew little more in its life only made things that much harder. She didn’t even really know what Pokemon it was, the species or if she recognized it at all, but she could only think of one way to find out.

Having been lost in thought it seemed, Rhienne had only barely caught that Skylar felt he might not be exactly ready to face a gym leader yet and wanted to take a little bit more time to train his Pokemon. She could understand, having faced some of the Pokemon on that reserve for herself, they were fierce and strong, and it was kind of a wonder that Skylar had managed as well as he did. Not that she expected him to run away or get beaten so poorly, but he still had a skip in his step no matter how many times he had to run back to the Pokemon Center. The Pokemon around here might be a little more tame, and less of a surprise since it seemed to be just these gray birds that were fluttering around, but she nodded when he said he would try to find her later. She watched him go, and still found herself hoping he didn’t get hurt some way or somehow because she still felt responsible for taking him half way across the world, but how much trouble could he get in the middle of a city with tens of thousands of people around? Sure, the concrete jungle could be just as dangerous as a real one, but she didn’t feel like he would get attacked by a wild feral Pokemon that didn’t know any better about humans. So he went, and Rhienne was left to her own devices once more, but it was probably for the best for the time being. He had some training and some figuring out he needed to do, and Rhienne had some thoughts she needed to sort through for herself.

First things first, she supposed that she should see what this Pokemon was that had been thrust upon her, and try to at least handle this situation better than she did with Valor. The sooner she might be able to get this Pokemon used to the idea of a new trainer, the easier things might be, but of course there was always the matter of the rest of her team as well. She knew they weren’t the among the most friendly, and certainly weren’t too keen on outsiders, which was why she was still hesitant on the strange crocodile of a Pokemon she had captured on the reserve. It had been a while since she had introduced something new to their environment, and not that she thought they were superior and were too far along to accept something new, something that might need training, but she knew that her Pokemon, or at least most of them, had a superiority complex like no other and were sure to make a bad first impression on this new Pokemon. She couldn’t imagine what might happen if they really were so adamantly opposed that they didn’t want the Pokemon around, it wasn’t as though she could just pass it off to another trainer, or leave it with Professor Elm never to be seen again. She owed it to this Pokemon to give it its best second chance, like the boy thought she might be able to, so she could at least try and see what happens.

Left alone on the city streets after Skylar had walked off, Wattson stood beside Rhienne and looked at her glazed eyes, being able to tell that she was deep in thought. He still felt a bit of a bitter taste in his mouth after the argument they had had on the reserve, but he couldn’t just leave her alone in the middle of this new place, not when she was trying to make a new start for them all.
”Rhienne, is everything alright,” Wattson asked after a moment, the Lucario looking to his trainer as he just barely caught her attention. Her eyes flickered for a second behind her glasses before they became more focused, and her purple eyes moved to land on him looking at her from her side. She sighed, standing up straighter from her thoughts as she looked around the city, adjusting her glasses that had started to slide down her nose.
”Just too much to think about. It seems that that’s become the norm lately,” Rhienne replied quietly, trying to find at least one thought to focus on to at least make something of her time alone while Skylar was off exploring. Her ears twitched and her tail brushed lightly along the ground, hidden to those who might look upon her by Absolem who was merely erasing the small image from passing minds, a simple task for the great psychic, though Rhienne still knew they were there regardless as she listened to the sounds of the city around her.

Trying her best to sort through her many thoughts, avoiding glancing down at the amethyst ring that held its place on her hand, Rhienne looked down to her pokeballs instead where the new Pokeball remained, the one given to her by the personality disorder boy had given her. She wondered now if there were perhaps even another personality in his psyche, and it would have been the one she would have been talking to then that decided to give away the Pokemon in that moment? Would he come to one day and wonder where his starter Pokemon had gone to? Would his Gardevoir tell him the truth then or make something else to cover that up? There was really no knowing, but it was a thought that had come to her mind as she reached for the Pokeball, wondering if it was really worth it to try and talk to this Pokemon.
”We can’t just leave it in the dark,” Wattson spoke after a moment, sensing Rhienne’s hesitation on the matter as she turned the ball over in her hands. She just didn’t want it to resent her, think that she had taken it from its trainer. What if she would never be able to train it because of any resentment it had? But then she thought about Valor, and how close over the years they had gotten, and she now knew him to be one of her most loyal companions despite their past. Rhienne sighed, she hated playing the what if game. She wasn’t a psychic, much unlike her mother who seemed to have some premonitions about things, so she wouldn’t know anything until she tried. Rhienne hesitated once more before she turned the Pokeball over in her hands and opened it, watching the Pokemon appear before her on the ground.

Meanwhile, in the park in Striaton City Skylar was resting with the Lucario as he began to get more questions in his head for the Pokemon, like how does it feel about him as a trainer, whats its aura like, skylar then thought of some questions for him self. He stood up and looked at his Chikorita. Why did he set out on his journey, what does he want to do, what is his goal, his truths he seeks, the ideals he pursues. Skylar held the small grass type in his arms giving an emotional smile. he rubbed his hand down the back of her head. "Well I'm glad you got to come with me, and that you chose me when i chose you." he said as the Chikorita felt the same way, she wanted to get stronger for him, all because he believes in her and would never give up. This moment was soon interrupted when the Chikorita laid in his chest closing her eyes and a mysterious white glow surrounded the grass type. This caught Skylar by surprise and slowly she started to grow in size until the Pokemon had Sky pinned down on the ground and the light faded when she obtained her new form "Baaaay" the Pokemon cried out, Skylar was overjoyed when he pulled his Pokedex out and the Chikorita he had evolved into Bayleef. He laughed when the grass type started to nudge his cheek with her head. "Whoa you were able to finally evolve Chik- I mean Bayleef. Thats wonderful!" he cheered happily and turned his head over to see the Lucario grinning at him. "Well she did want to get stronger for you, at least thats what i heard." he spoke through telepathy. Skylar was happy to watch the event take place as the Bayleef was soon tired and laid on him falling asleep. Skylar however couldn't really move now. "Oh brother!" he laughed

It literally took about 15 minutes of the newly evolved Bayleef to gain her energy back. Meanwhile Skylar who was still pinned down felt her get off and finally got up and properly congratulate and rub her head. "You know what. With how I'm feeling right now, we could fight and win against the gym." he spoke through his determination.However there were some other Pokemon that needed to be trained and once he realized that he got the three poke balls and sat down looking at them, he observed each capsule and tried to think of a way he could help. The main way he thought of how to help strengthen the bond was being with those Pokemon and getting to truly know them. However he really couldn't do much for the Feebas as of now and felt bad for her, thinking about the Espeon and Amaura, he brought the two out of their Pokeballs as the Bayleef laid down in the shade of the tree and Lucario wanted to observe how he would train and earn their complete trust and respect. The Ice type and the Psychic type turn their attention to Sky as he gently rubbed their heads. "We have a lot of work to do." he said. They smiled and understood.

Standing up and looking back at the sleeping grass type and the Lucario standing behind him he looked at the two he had brought out. "Ok Espeon, Amaura. I really think we have what it takes to really become better friends and become stronger!" he said pumping his arms. The two were inspired a bit to start training. The Espeon got a bit curious as always was distracted when something flew by her face, she shook her head and tried to find what it was. "Uh Espeon? This way please" the Espeon seemed to be a bit tough since she was so curious he would have to figure out some way to bond with her. Amaura seemed rather calm and collected rather eager to start working with Skylar just because he seemed interesting how he helped her back at the reserve.

After shortly conversing with the two Pokemon the Espeon's ear started to twitch as it jumped around seeing a Lillipup appear from a bush, the Espeon and normal type started to growl and hiss at one another. The normal type charged at Espeon hitting a tackle causing it to slide back. The Espeon used the gem on its head to use confusion and bound the Lillipup. Once it broke free it slammed into Espeon yet again. However this time when the Espeon bound Lillipup with confusion it got confused and upon hurting itself it fainted and scurried away. "Well Espeon it seems your capable more than i thought in battle." he said bending down and petting her head which caused her tails to wag upon being pet.

Opening the Pokeball and watching it's form come to furition on the ground, Rhienne watched as only a small figure emerged, it didn't grow at all or become anything large, it just remained there on the ground at her feet. As the energy faded, she was left looking down at a small, quadrupedal fox like Pokemon with yellow-orange fur and dark orange tufts coming from its ears, and a short, thin white muzzle. It was unlike any Pokemon Rhienne could recall seeing before, she didn't know it to be from Kanto or Johto, but since the boy had mentioned that this was a starter Pokemon, that must have meant that it was one of the Pokemon that a new trainer received from the Professor of a region. It was rather sad to think about, that a trainer hadn't trained the one Pokemon that was supposed to be their beginning. Sure, she had contemplated not training Kyoko, but stuck it out with the ferret, and now she had become a valuable asset to their team and the battles that she was capable of taking. She had seen Kyoko take down a Steelix before which was no laughing matter considering the fire type's size. Rhienne believed in the potential of a Pokemon, so why hadn't the boy trained this Pokemon at all? It wasn't as though he were new to training, at least it didn't seem like it with the Gardevoir he had. Sure, she was still young, and both Rhienne and Absolem could tell that, but she had some training, when it seemed that this little fox was just as young and new to the world as Kyoko looked when she had taken her from the lab.

Watching the fox, and looking at it for a moment, Rhienne reached out to whom she knew to always be behind her eyes as the fox began to sniff around and look at its new surroundings.
"Absolem, what kind of species is this," Rhienne asked within her thoughts, wondering even just the simple things, like what the species was called.
"It is the fire type Pokemon Fennekin, indigenous to the Kalos region," Absolem answered, and Rhienne understood why she had never seen the Pokemon before then. She had never been to the Kalos region, in fact, she didn't think any of her Pokemon presently were indigenous to the Kalos Region. She had captured them all fairly close to home within the Johto Region, and she knew not all of them were indigenous to Johto alone, but she never thought she would have a Pokemon from so far away before. It was curious to know that it was a fire type Pokemon too, she could have fathomed that it wasn't a water type or a grass type Pokemon, but it didn't look to have many attributes to fire. Even Cyndaquil have the stacks on their back for fire to blow through, or she knew Charmander from Kanto had an open flame, this Pokemon here didn't have any open flame, just a fox with yellow fur and giant tufts coming from its ears.
"So, it's from the Kalos Region," Wattson confirmed after listening to Absolem's words, but at his utterance the Fennekin turned to face them at the sound of a voice.

Skylar, Bayleef, Lucario, were walking all together to town Skylar returned Esepon because she was hurt in battle and Amaura so he wouldn't attract any unwanted attention. Skylar headed for the Pokemon Center to heal his Pokemon up. He put four of the Pokeballs in the tray leaving Lucario and Bayleef out. He made his way to the waiting room where the Bayleef laid at Skylar's legs and Lucario sat next to Skylar in wait. Skylar rested back as the Bayleef soon rolled over and was now on his feet. Skylar couldn't move yet again. Lucario found this rather funny, so to pass the time Skylar thought for a bit before springing a question again. "Hey Lucario... what is your end goal for all this? I mean why do you want to journey with me and train hard with me?" The Lucario turned his attention to the sleeping grass dino. He went deep into thought, he really didn't know why except ti get stronger but thought there had to be something else. "Well...right now i don't fully know. I want to get stronger with the aura inside of me. With that i guess I want to find my Purpose." He spoke through the telepathy and closed his eyes. Thats a question everyone has. 'Why do we exist, what meaning do we have' Skylar thought about what he had said before closing his eyes.

Hearing the thoughts about what Lucario thought about his question, he too wanted to know and find his purpose as a trainer. He didn't know how or when it would come. "One dream i have though is to eventaully battle the Dragon Master Lance." he said smiling. "He aspired me to be a trainer, yet i don't know what kind of trainer so i hope to find out eventually." he turned and looked at Lucario giving a nod. He nodded back to the trainer before they both looked at the sleeping Bayleef on his feet. "You think she will ever wake up?" he said and started to chuckle. "I don't know, might be from that evolution earlier. Each Pokemon takes the whole evolution stage differently. Some Pokemon get new attitudes from it, some it exhausts them like Bayleef and others are ok with it and stay the same." Skylar nodded and leaned forward and gently strokes the head of the Bayleef. This made a smile appear on her face and lean more on his feet. That moment the chime for the Pokemon Center went off and Lucario glanced at Sky. "Since you really can't move I'll go to get them." Skylar gave a smile when he got up he opened his mouth. "Thank you Lucario."

At the sound of Wattson’s voice, the notion that there was something close around it, the Fennekin that had been sniffing around idly, surely just trying to gauge its new surroundings looked up at Rhienne and Wattson with its red eyes. Both Rhienne and Wattson stopped and froze at the fox whom was looking up at them, now entirely unsure of how to proceed with the interaction, but the Fennekin gave out a small yip of a sound that Rhienne couldn’t understand.
”Absolem, let her speak,” Rhienne asked, knowing that she could only understand any of her Pokemon that weren’t already capable of communication through their own abilities through Absolem when he allowed their thoughts and speech to come through. Rhienne felt the psychic at the edge of her mind as she looked down to the fox again, and this time a voice came through that Rhienne didn’t recognize.
”Who are you,” the fox asked again, and it was a young female voice that Rhienne heard coming from the fox, though the voice was tentative and hesitant, and Rhienne could certainly understand why since the fox was glancing around, surely trying to find the trainer it knew before.

There was no easy way that Rhienne could fathom to start easing into the conversation to come, but she was hoping that she could smooth things over as easily as possible so this Pokemon might not resent her or lash out at all. Rhienne stared for a moment longer before she looked to Wattson beside her, heaving a breath before she looked down to the fox again through her glasses.
”My name is Rhienne, and this is Wattson,” Rhienne answered cautiously, trying to keep her tone light and friendly as the fox continued to look around after only glancing to Wattson whom stood beside Rhienne. The fox looked up at her though and stepped forward a few tentative steps, sniffing up at the pokeball that Rhienne held in her hand, and the fox recognized her own scent, and the scent of her trainer, so she knew that was her Pokeball that this strange human was holding.
”Why do you have my Pokeball? Where’s my trainer,” the Fennekin asked, stepping back a few steps again from the two strange beings whom she had never seen before.

The Fennekin didn’t sound too upset so far at the situation, and wasn’t showing any signs of aggression, but Rhienne could tell that she was hesitant on the matter, and just really didn’t know what was going on in the slightest, and Rhienne was still cursing the boy she had met on the reserve for sticking her with this Pokemon without telling it anything. He had run off with that Gardevoir before Rhienne could have even processed what had really happened, and she was stuck with having to explain to this young Pokemon what had happened. Rhienne was a bit at a loss for words at the fire type’s question, but she knew she couldn’t alleviate the situation if she didn’t try at least to explain what had happened. She would just take it slow, and answer any questions that the fire type had, and all she could do was hope for the best.
”Well, your trainer isn’t here right now. He, uh… He gave you to me a little bit ago, so right now, I’m your new trainer,” Rhienne tried to explain as kindly and sensitively as she could, trying to think of the best, or at least not the worst, way to put it.

Despite how sensitive and careful Rhienne was trying to be about the situation, she could tell that it struck a chord with the Fennekin to be told that she had been given away as she looked up at Rhienne and Wattson with wide eyes and a small shake of her head.
”What? No, what do you mean,” she asked with a small voice, really almost unable to believe what this human was saying, but she couldn’t find her trainer anywhere, could find his scent to follow him, and she was there holding her Pokeball. Rhienne sighed, glancing to Wattson whom was trying to help Rhienne stay calm through the exchange, and she looked back down to the fox through her glasses.
”I met your trainer earlier today, and he was asking for help. There was something wrong with him that he just needed some time to sort out,” Rhienne started, trying as best she could to explain the situation and the reasoning behind why the boy had given her this Pokemon in the first place, though she was having a hard time understanding it all still in the first place, but for this little fox’s sake she was going to do her best and try to make the best out of this for both of them.

Listening to Rhienne’s words and the beginning of what could be a fake explanation, the Fennekin was shaking her head with Rhienne’s words, and Rhienne realized that saying there was something wrong with him might not have been the best way to put it.
”Your trainer wasn’t sick, and he wasn’t hurt, I promise, he just felt like he needed help with something, and he met me and my Pokemon earlier today and asked if we might be able to help him,” Rhienne tried to cover, lying just ever so slightly about him not being sick, but she didn’t want the fox to worry, to try and set her mind at ease just a little bit.
”And we did, my friend Absolem and I talked with him and a Gardevoir he had with him, and helped him a little bit, but before he left to go, he started talking about you, his starter Pokemon,” Rhienne explained, stalling just a moment on referring to Absolem and calling him a friend of hers. Friend was a very lose term when it came to Absolem, he wasn’t friendly and he didn’t treat her like a friend, she wasn’t really sure what to call Absolem, but just for sake of trying to explain the story to the young fox, she felt friend was just the best option.

Being able to tell now that she at least had the fox’s attention, Rhienne was trying to make the explanation as nice and meaningful as she could. She couldn’t know which might upset the Pokemon more, the thought that she was given away at the drop of a hat without much regard or that she was with a new trainer whom she just didn’t like, but Rhienne was going to try to alleviate any misgivings that she might have since she now felt moderately responsible for this Fennekin now.
”He said that, he didn’t think he was the right trainer for you, and he felt bad that you might not be getting the experiences that you deserve,” Rhienne started after a moment, trying to make the Fennekin feel as little scorned as possible.
”He wanted to give you your best chance, a second chance to be with a trainer who might be able to take better care of you, and he thought, because of my own Pokemon and how I had helped him, that you would do better training and traveling with me,” Rhienne finished, knowing that this must be hard for the young Pokemon to take in and understand, but she really did think that he was just trying to give this Fennekin her best chance, and while she didn’t think that she was the best option, she was going to try to make the best of it now.

After Rhienne had finished, the Fennekin by now was sitting on the ground looking up at the human that was trying to explain this all to her, and it seemed that she was a loss for words. She didn’t know what to think of the situation, what to think about being given away, and Wattson could feel her confusion and her lack of settlement with what Rhienne had said. The Lucario leaned down and sat on the ground in front of the Fennekin beside Rhienne, trying to at least become less intimidating and get on her level so he could talk with her. He didn’t know if this would be the best course of action, but it was worth a shot to try and make the Fennekin understand what this all meant.
”Were you and your trainer close,” Wattson asked, wondering if she had spent much time with the other trainer to which she would feel upset about being given away and not getting to see him again, or if maybe he felt that she would be better off with another trainer because he wasn’t training her himself and felt as though he might have been neglecting her.

Being given that question, the Fennekin actually had to stop and think despite her initial dislike of the situation and her resentment towards, well… She wasn’t sure whom she felt more resentment towards, but now she had something else to think about as she had wanted to give her answer, the obvious answer, almost saying yes to the Lucario, but she stopped herself because she had to think, was she really that close with her trainer? She remembered it was a long time ago now, she was chosen from that place where the man gave some of her friends away to new trainers, and then she was chosen too to go with a trainer. She remembered traveling through a city or two, and there was a Scyther that the trainer had, but… She couldn’t even remember her trainers name, or only had scarce memories of what he looked like… She hadn’t seen him in a long time it felt like now that she actually thought about it, she had been spending most of her time recently back with that man and some other Pokemon who were there being taken care of, so maybe… She wasn’t really close with her trainer at all…

”No… I guess I wasn’t… It was a long time since I had seen him… I guess he didn’t want me after all,” the Fennekin spoke in a soft, quiet voice, and Rhienne could swear she heard a small tremble in her voice as Rhienne too came to the ground beside Wattson to speak to the fox.
”No, no, that wasn’t it at all,” Rhienne tried to console, especially before the fox might start crying, she wasn’t sure how she could handle that situation at all.
”He felt bad that he couldn’t give you the attention that he wanted to, he wanted to give you a second chance to be with a trainer who would travel with you and train with you,” Rhienne continued, trying to make the best of the situation.
”And I do, I promise that I will take good care of you, all of us will, and you’ll make a lot of friends with our team. He wanted to make sure that you would have a good second chance, he didn’t abandon you or didn’t want you,” Rhienne tried to explain.
