Dana Griswold Dana was so very thankful that Grae hadn't mistaken her vaguely directed question for being able to communicate directly with Pokemon. She had embarrassed herself enough just now. In that vein, the young woman paused after reaching for the offered hand and paw of Grae and their Mienfoo. She was a bigger girl and Grae seemed so tiny and frail to her. She withdrew her hand, slowly pushing herself off the ground to a shaky standing position. Brigitte floated over and perched on her shoulder, the blue-petaled Floette offering a terse smile to the youth. She wasn't entirely convinced Grae hadn't tripped Dana even witnessing the accident unfold. She decided Grae, clearly, was acting out of guilt for hurting her trainer. "Thank you, but I'll be alright. Just a little...err..." She looked down at herself with a small frown. "...Out of practice!" She finished, deciding not to talk down about herself just now. Grae felt bad enough for not saving her from falling, she didn't need somebody trying to tell her she wasn't fat. She was a fat girl, and she needed to practice a lot more before she could travel from one place to the next without stopping. Tonya gently nudged her snout into Dana's calf, snorting with concern at the young woman. "Oh, I'm alright, Tonya. Really. He didn't mean anything by it." Whoops...she had been trying not to say anything about Grae's look. She had known enough wealthy folk with a similar appearance that got offended if you guessed wrong.
An immediate attempt to deflect was made, and Dana was glad that Tonya had made another sound. She decided to pretend Tonya was really asking to be introduced! "Oh, of course! My manners! Mother would be so upset if she caught me babbling like this." She swept her arms to the side, then hooked her elbows inward to tug at the edges of her skirt like a normal curtsy. "My name is Dana Griswold. These are my friends. Tonya," the Tepig gave a cheerful squeal in greeting, "Mannchen," her Audino lowered his head in a slight bow of his own, "Hellen," Dana's Pidove made another rude noise, fluttering her wings aggressively at Kazuno in particular. "Oh, and this is Brigitte. I just got her earlier today. Along with Lorkee...but he's misbehaving. I wish I could put him somewhere other than his ball for that. Their parents gave them to me." She should probably have used a better way to introduce her Floette and Spinarak. A low feline growl sounded between Dana's legs as her Meowth stepped out casually. "Oh, my goodness! Duchess! She's very special too. A powerful Pokemon gave her to me!" She announced, not worrying in the slightest about sounding utterly insane. She smiled at Grae and their Pokemon. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. Thank you for worrying about me." The traveler seemed hesitant to take Grae’s and Kazuno’s outstretched hands, almost using them to lift herself up before deciding to pick herself up off the ground instead. Grae took note of the traveler’s appearance as she dusted herself off from the fall. She was of a larger build and appeared sturdier than Grae. She mentioned something about being out of practice, but even Grae’s sharp mind couldn’t entirely decipher what the traveler could have been referring to when she said this, perhaps she meant walking in general? Though, that did seem a bit silly of an answer to Grae. The awkwardness of the situation continued when the traveler referred to Grae as “he” briefly, before seemingly worrying about this way of addressing them. Grae was about to tell the traveler to not worry about how she addressed them, but she quickly changed the subject and began to introduce her Pokemon. During this introduction, the girl said her name was Dana Griswold as well as the names of her Pokemon. Grae smiled gently at the group in front of them, despite a few of Dana’s Pokemon being less-than-friendly towards Grae, Kazuno, and Cei. Seeing the way some of Dana’s Pokemon acted a bit protective, Cei hid further behind Grae’s back and clung to their clothing. “Ah, sorry about him. He is a bit shy. As for my other Pokemon I currently have out, Lumi is the Togepi in my arms and Kazuno is the Mienfoo here. I am glad to see that you are not hurt and am again sorry about not being able to prevent your fall,” Grae began to respond before pausing, unsure if they should address the use of ‘he’ from earlier, but decided against it to try to make things less awkward, “We just finished our gym battle here against Cilan and obtained our first badge. Were you planning to challenge the gym as well?”

Dana Griswold Meeting and greeting Grae had done a fair bit for Dana's people skills. Even if she had made some mistakes, she was continuously making mental notes of what she found to be important in how Grae reacted to her. A clever youth she wanted to keep around if she could. Even as her thoughts worked toward a direction where she could try to convince Grae to help her with some things, Dana's smile grew wider still. Grae's introduction wwas swift and simple. She nodded along slowly, offering a reassuring smile to little Cei. "It is my pleasure to meet you all. Thank you for being here." She frowned as Hellen made another aggressive sound, fluttering once more, then settling down as Mannchen grunted his irritation with the Pidove. "Sorry about that. Hellen is...well, I am a very new trainer. I think she has trouble with being somebody's Pokemon." Mused the young woman, kneeling down to stroke her Tepig's head who had nuzzled up to her trainer. She reached to Hellen, only to have the Pidove snap at her and cause her to withdraw her hand. "She behaves in battles at least." Dana smiled slightly. "I hope she'll do OK in Contests." The young woman added, looking up to Grae as she tried to gather her team to her. "I was actually going to sit down for a break at one of the nearby benches. I'm doing the Coordinator League instead. Maybe you can see me perform some time. It's going to be a little while. I still need to get to the first Hall I plan to compete in." She explained herself further, once more subtly referencing her weight as the problem with her traveling. Dana seemed to be more at ease once Grae made a more formal introduction of themself and their team. Grae noted the quirks of Dana’s crew as well as Dana herself. Her Pidove, Hellen, seemed to not be friendly towards people, but Dana said that she listened in battles. Her other Pokemon seemed friendly enough and Dana appeared to treat them all with care, which pleased Grae. It seemed odd that she mentioned being tired again, though. Grae assumed this was probably because she had traveled some ways already or maybe wasn’t used to traveling all the time now since Dana also mentioned she was a new trainer. Dana said she was going to participate in the coordinator league instead of the Pokemon League. Grae’s interest was piqued. They had heard of the coordinator league but hadn’t met anyone that had participated in it before. “Oh? You are going to participate in contests? That sounds like it could be interesting. I have only really ever met trainers before, not coordinators. That being said, I have heard of them and how they focus on the appeal of the Pokemon and their moves rather than pure strength. I respect that about contests,” Grae paused and looked down at Lumi, thinking how spectacular she may be in a contest but then pushing the thought out of their head since that would attract too much attention to Lumi, let alone themself and Cei. Grae knew there was a reason they had been taken to the monastery by N, even though they were never told by him. It was hidden from much of the outside world which was most likely why that place was chosen. Grae had surmised a while ago it may be best to not attract too much attention to them and their Pokemon, at least until they became stronger, so contests were never an option for them to see the world. Grae also looked down at their clothes. They realized their clothes may be a bit too out-of-place for onlookers and thought it may be good to get new ones before traveling too much more. Suddenly, Grae realized they had been lost in thought for a moment and saw Lumi staring up at them with wonder. They looked back up and apologized for their momentary mental absence, “Ah, sorry! I got lost in thought for a moment. Seeing a contest in person sounds like it could be a rather enlightening experience. We would love to join at some point in the future. After you rest, are you planning to head to where the contest will be held? Apologies for my ignorance, but I am unsure where contests are typically held.”

"Oh, you asked where I was headed...Icirrus City first. Then I'm going to have to come back here to reach Virbank City. I learned through a bit of research in the past few weeks that a lot of Pokemon know mostly Cute and Tough moves. If I'm going to have any kind of head start, those two Contest Halls should be my first targets. I should be able to afford a mistake or two and still win...Well, assuming the stories are true--and Contest Leaders really do go easier on you if you don't have any Ribbons." She admitted sheepishly. Yes, she was confident she had her best chance starting where she was starting, but she had not actually been able to confirm it would be easier going against the Contest Leaders just because she was a beginner. "If everything works out, I go to Eindoak Town after that--the Clever Contest Hall is there. New Tork City for Cool, then Castelia City for Beauty. By then, Tonya and the others will be ready! I just know it!" She declared, trying once more to be as confident as possible. If she couldn't convince this young man she could win, what hope did she have of convincing Unova to follow her in the future? "Maybe I'll see you at one of them. Some of the Contest Halls occupy cities with Gyms in them as well. Maybe we'll be on our way to being the best in our Leagues by the time we cross paths again!" She had misunderstood Grae's intrigue as simple polite curiosity. She didn't imagine this "boy" wanted to walk with her to her destinations. Especially if they were engaging in the Gym Challenge. Dana seemed both surprised and excited by Grae’s apparent interest in contests. In fact, she had gotten so excited that Cei felt a bit more overwhelmed by other people than usual and hid further behind Grae. Oddly, though, Dana seemed to trail off near the end of describing all of the contest types. Grae thought it odd to forget the Beauty category when that is arguably one of the most popular categories of contests, or so they had heard. Grae was about to fill the void of silence when Dana trailed off before she regained control of her train of thought. Dana went on to talk about her travel plans around the region, though when she began to talk about the Beauty contests again, she seemed a bit overconfident about it to Grae. Grae thought perhaps she was trying to compensate for having forgotten the category completely a moment ago but decided to be polite and not point out this observation. It seemed that Dana had a good idea as to where she was going to go around the region, which Grae admired. She commented on the idea of the two of them meeting up at some point during their different challenges. “Ah, it would be nice to see a familiar face at some point on my future journey. Perhaps I could contact you on the X-transceiver? I heard it is supposed to have instant messaging capabilities on it too, but I barely know how to call on it. Wattson the Rotom often helps me navigate the device as I am rather new to owning one. I’ll probably be heading to the Dreamyard and Wellspring Cave before I head to Nacrene City and challenge the next gym,” Grae paused to pat Cei on the head before turning their head to look out into the distance, “Despite challenging the Pokemon League, I also want to see much of the world with my team. I didn’t get to do much traveling in the past, so this is my chance to see the world as well.” Grae began to drift into thought for a moment after mentioning world travel but was brought back to reality by a pull on their sleeve by Kazuno who noticed them drifting. “Ah, sorry! Grae and Dana exchanged contact information after Grae was brought back to the present. After that, Dana said that perhaps she had taken too much of Grae’s time already and began to say goodbye, also mentioning that Grae could contact her if they ever needed anything. “Ah, I am in no rush and have a lot of time. But yes, I certainly will keep in touch. I will let you go and again, good luck on your contest!” Grae said as they waved goodbye to Dana. Once Dana had left, Cei moved out from behind Grae. “You know, it is really quite rude to act such a way towards people that mean no harm…” Grae chided Cei. “We don’t know if they mean no harm! Besides, you know I am quite shy…” Cei protested. “I suppose I should be more careful, but people seem to be nicer than we have given them credit for. Dana at least was nice. Now, perhaps I should get some new clothes to attract less attention though. While talking to Dana, I did realize how much I stick out in these clothes. The monastery was able to spare some cash to help us start out our journey. I am sure we could find some clothes in town.” Grae, Cei, Kazuno, and Lumi walked around town for a bit looking for a clothing store. Not far from the gym, they found a welcoming clothing boutique. When the group walked in, they were greeted by a couple of workers. “Hello, welcome in! How may we help you today?” Cei immediately hid behind Grae once more. “Sorry about him. He is shy. But, um, I am looking for clothes for myself.” “Ah, okay! What is your, uh, style?” One of the workers, a younger woman dressed in a beautiful flowing dress with a flower print on it, said eyeing Grae up and down unsure what to make of their clothes. “Oh! Well, I was looking for something a bit more modern. Preferably in the color gray and not too flashy.” Suddenly, the other worker stepped in. She was a bit older and wore more drab clothing, but seemed eager to help upon hearing Grae’s response. “Ah! We definitely can help you find what you are looking for, in that case,” She said as she got up from her chair behind a counter. “Come with me and we can bring out a few options for you. You know, you are our first customer of the day. We also don’t usually get people as young as you in our shop this early.” “I just like to start my days early is all,” Grae said with a smile.

The two retail workers brought several items out for Grae to try out. To their surprise, many of the first items they brought out were quite appealing to Grae. “Wow, I love a lot of these clothes you brought out. How did you know they would be a great fit? They are so comfortable too!” Grae said as they had on an outfit they adored. “Oh, trust me. The moment you said gray and not too flashy, Fran over here knew exactly what to grab you. She is all about drab,” The younger of the two workers commented with a sly smile. “Hey! I’ll have you know that my style is composed and classic, not drab. Besides, gray goes with everything! It can even be as elegant as your clothes, Little Miss Dresses All The Time!” Fran responded to the other worker. “A good dress goes well with any situation! I’ll have you know that is Little Miss Lynn, by the way!” “Anyways, how do you like the clothes, dear?” Fran asked Grae. “I think these are great! How much do they cost anyway?” “Let me just calculate that all for you. Grae returned Lumi and Kazuno to their Pokeballs while Cei and themself left the boutique. Once they were far enough from the place, Cei changed his appearance into something a bit less conspicuous, but with his preferred palette of red and black. His new “outfit” was still rather simple. He wore a black and red striped shirt and dark gray shorts with black and red sneakers. It appeared to be a very typical outfit for someone the age of his human disguise, so roughly 8 years old. “Oh? So, I guess you did see something you liked there at the boutique then?” Grae asked Cei. “Yes, I did! I saw this while I was waiting for you to change in the dressing room. I quite liked it! I also think I saw some kids we passed by before wearing similar clothes.” “Well, now that we don’t look as out-of-place, we should probably decide on where to go next,” Grae said as they pulled out their X-transceiver. As they booted on the device, Watson greeted them and offered a speedy suggestion, “Well, you all could go to the Dreamyard! It is the site of a previous science accident involving dream research. There is mysterious energy around the place, so I don’t quite know how functional I will be in this device there, but it would certainly be interesting to visit! Plus, I kind of wanted to go…” “That sounds like a good idea. We do want to see as much of the world as we can, right Cei? I say we go there then. Why don’t you lead the way then, Watts,” Grae said with a gentle smile. Cei nodded before they all began to walk towards the Dreamyard.

Grae and their Pokemon returned to Straiton City. By this time, the sun was starting to set and Grae thought it would be best for all of them to head to the Pokemon Center to eat and sleep for the night. As such, Grae had Watson lead the group back to the Pokemon Center. When they entered, they were greeted by a different assistant than they had met before. In the Center were quite a few trainers with their Pokemon, either getting ready for dinner, travels, or to sleep. Grae went up to the receptionist and requested a room for the night before leading their Pokemon to the dining area for dinner. While they were eating, Grae decided it would be a good idea to get the egg the monastery elder gave them checked out by Nurse Joy. They left their Pokemon there to eat, “Kazuno, you are in charge, so keep your eye on everyone, okay?” Kazuno nodded in understanding as Grae left to get the egg checked. “Oh, your egg is quite close to hatching!” Nurse Joy said, surprised upon finishing up her health diagnostics scans on it. “That is good to hear! I wasn’t sure when it would hatch. Is it possible for you to tell me what it will hatch into? I wanted to start thinking of a name for the Pokemon before it was born.” Grae inquired curiously. “Since it is this close to hatching, yes, I can, actually. Let me run a couple more quick tests, okay?” “Of course! Take all the time you need!” Nurse Joy took the egg back to her equipment for a few more minutes before coming back with a sheet that had some results on it, “Well, it says that the Pokemon is almost certainly a Froakie! Congratulations! The test also says there may some sort of benign anomaly with the Pokemon too, however.” “What does that mean?” “Well, some Pokemon are born different, just like people. Often times though, when the test reads a “benign anomaly,” the Pokemon will be born with a different appearance than a typical Pokemon of that species, at least in my experience. I don’t get those too often though, but it will be exciting to see what the Pokemon looks like when it is born!” “That is surprising. To think I would have so many unique friends to travel with. Thank you again, Nurse Joy,” Quinn replied before bowing and leaving back to the dining hall with the egg.

By the time they had arrived in new city, it was nearing early evening but it was still bright. And that was good, because Striaton turned out a lot bigger than he expected, and so.. getting lost was probably easy. There were plenty of skyscrs, and flashy shops, pubs and restaurants. But eventually he came across a town map, and localized the Pokemon Center as well. He wanted to have that out of the way first, as he didn't want to explore the town without carrying his entire bag with himself. He only needed few things.
The registration was quick, and the nurse seemed in better mood than the Accumula one. Well, people varied on the medical field, but he had hoped that nowadays less 'angry with the world and everything' people would go for this job.
Valentine left most of his belongings in acquired room, and with a smaller bag he left to explore the city. "Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"

Striaton had a lot to offer actually - not only regular restaurants and shops, but also a Trainer's School and a leader's gym. He wasn't obviously ready to take on the gym, hell he wasn't sure if it was even open right now or taking challenges at this hour, but his team was simply not ready for this kind of challenge. Instead, he opted for not for simple exploration around the town.
Strangely enough, he heard a commotion nearby, and with his curiosity taking over, he headed right into it.
It was even stranger to see an Audino outside the Pokemon Center, and more so when it tried to scare off some wild Purrloin. The cat was hissing and spitting, and obviously upset about something, but the pink Pokemon shook her head firmly and tried to shoo it away from.. something. Valentine had no damn idea what was going, and while trying to back away, he kicked a can. Of course, and Pokemons heard him.
Purrloin actually ran away, clearly startled by a human and not wanting to deal with him too, but Audino shoot him a weird look and seemed ready to attack. That was so bizarre, but he instinctively took out Oshawott's PokeBall to fight.
His Pokemon had little time to react, when Audino screeched at him which apparently damaged him.. somehow. But that also woke Caspian enough to attack back, and for that he took his shell and it began glowing green. Vale barely blinked when his Pokemon leaped at his opponent and swiped, leaving a glowing trail and forcing Audino to back out. The hit must hurt much more than screaming, because pink Pokemon lost balance and fell had on the ground. It was.. well, still conscious, but not wiling to fight anymore.
Valentine felt pity for Audino. It wasn't supposed to be there, on the street, in such poor condition. He also noticed what it was defending from Purrloin - some scraps of food, probably taken from some restaurant's trash bin. Was it saving it for herself or for some other Pokemon, he didn't know, but it was also less busy part of the city so.. could be both ways. Not wanting Caspian to finish it off, Vale got one of his free PokeBalls, that he took with himself, and tossed at lying Audino. It was really a shame seeing a Pokemon that usually works for Pokemon Center living on some street, and he could have some use of it.
He waited in anticipation when the PokeBall was shaking and then sighed when it stopped, indicating that the Pokemon was caught. Now he needed to get her properly healed in the Center, and he was.. again free to roam around.
It was getting pretty late, but he had no reasons to sleep yet.

He found the way back to the Pokemon Center just fine, and thankfully the head nurse was behind the desk. Besides here was also an Audino, who was sorting various potions and PokeBalls on the table behind. So everything was just as it should, be and without waiting, he moved closer. He needed to heal, but also.. ask the nurse about this bizarre encounter. He knew it might be tricky subject, but he had to know.
"Ma'am, I have a question, and it might be a bit.. touchy." he said as soon as possible, not wanting to delay it with unnecessary welcomes.
"Why, what would it be?" nurse blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting it.
"You see.. I found an Audino on the streets, fighting with some Purrloin for food. It seems a bit bizarre to see a Center Pokemon in wild in such.. conditions." he said quietly, maintaining eye contact and then raised his hand a bit, in defensive manner. "I'm not trying to accuse you or the Center of anything, I'm just curious-"
"Oh." she cut him off, and looked behind her shoulder to check her own Audino, before turning back to him and leaning closer, as if trying to tell him some secret. "On the route beyond Striaton is a Daycare. One of previous nurse used it to breed her Audino few times for.. whatever she had in mind. We found out it few weeks ago, and fired her. Breeding isn't illegal, but the way she was tossing most of them away was.. unethical. Some ended up wandering in the city, but we thought they were all caught by now."
She sighed, and then glanced on her own Pokemon.
"But not every wild Audino is from this source, you know. But those don't really live within the city, but more on the grasslands and forests. Those are naturally born and accommodated for the wilderness." she explained further, but this he kind of figured on his own. Kalos used Aromatisses, and Spirtzees were very common in the wild. And they looked healthy.
The Audino he caught, however, didn't really look healthy.
"That explains it." he replied, rubbing his chin. He then gave her two PokeBalls, one with Oshawott, and the other with Audino, to heal. It went swiftly, and nurse returned both PokeBalls to him right after.
Seeing that he till have time, he went to the dining area to check on Audino in private and give her some food, as well as his other Pokemons. He let the her out after giving other four team members bowls of food, and sat down on a chair. Pink Pokemon shook her body and stretched before turning to him and blinking in confusion.
"Hey there. Don't be scared, you are safe now." he said calmly, extending his hand in welcoming manner. She looked at him a bit unsure, but then took it with her own paw. "See? I wouldn't hurt you. Well, uh.. sorry about that earlier, but I panicked."
She hummed an apology and rotated his hand curiously. He let her 'check' it, remembering that he still had to change the bandage from earlier. She made a worried noise noticing it too.
"It's alright, it's just a scratch. I will take of it, and you should eat." Valentine pointed at a full bowl, and then took a bandage from his bag. She still looked at him, but seeing that he takes care of his hand himself, then she turned to the food and began eating. "I think 'Sylvie' fits you, don't you think?"
Audino turned her head to him and tilted her head as if thinking and then gave him a honest not."Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"

He knew that bigger cities had some interesting places and pubs that were available only at late hours, and he doubted that Striaton would be different. He wasn't going to do much of course, but few drinks treated as 'congratulations on your first full day as a Pokemon trainer' shouldn't hurt.
He didn't want to go to the most full of people pub however, and those were abundant in the city square. Instead, he turned towards more or less quieter areas, in between buildings but not quite 'dark alleys' territory. There were smaller shops, that were operating 24h or typical ones selling alcohol, but eventually he ran across something more interesting.
But obviously he also ran into a trouble starring wild Pokemons. Why are they acting so strange lately?
This time it was just a single bird bothering some waiter in front of a pub. Music was coming from inside and Vale also heard people talk, but he focused more at the bird.
"Shoo, go away! It's too late for you anyways!" the man called and waved at the bird Pokemon with his washcloth, who defiantly dived at him and hit with his talons. It might end up with serious injuries, and it was beyond Vale to understand why this man had no Pokemons on his side.
"Ophelia, take care of it. You are the one who can meet it in the air." he said, calling Woobat outside and pointing at the bird. She nodded and this time without hesitation flew right at it. The opponent spotted her and tackled her swiftly, nearly knocking down, but she then turned around in the air and hit it twice with her wings. One his pushed him back enough, but the second made him run away leaving several feathers behind in fear. Well, at least that ended up quicker than he thought.
"Are you alright sir?" he asked the waiter, who rubbed his arms. His sleeve was a bit torn, but there weren't any signs of serious or even slight scratches.
"M' fine. Stupid Pidove, they should be asleep by now." he groaned and then looked at Vale. "But thanks you for help. I keep leaving mine in the bar when I'm going out."
"No problem." he smiled slightly, and returned Ophelia to her PokeBall. "Tell me, are drinks here good?"
"As good as they get, kid. Not the best as in Striaton gym, but people keep coming and going anyways." waiter shrugged and threw remaining feathers off the table. "Get in and check the menu, if you want."
"Well, thanks you."

The bar wasn't too full, but there were groups of people sitting around and talking, drinking and eating. There was still free space in front of the main counter, so he sat there - both to make order and also observe his surroundings. He leaned on the counter and read their drink menu, and waited for the barista. He finally came in from another room. Probably kitchen, or staff's room.
"May I take your order?" he asked, not sounding as tired as Vale could have expected from working at this hour.
"Yes, I would like.. this one." young man then pointed at a drink, some alcohol mixed with cola. The most usual one, but it was always his go-to order. Barista wasn't of course questioning it, and instead happily went to work on it.
Valentine took the time to look around, and he spotted few people leaving and new ones entering. Three men entered the place, but two of them went to sit at the table, and third one went to the main desk and stood near Vale. He glanced at him curiously - a really tall man with dark, short hair and green eyes. He looked rather fine.. and then Valentine noticed that he noticed him staring.
Long-haired man coughed awkwardly and turned away unsure all sudden.
"Yes?" he then heard man laugh. "No need to be shy."
"Sorry, I shouldn't stare." he said with apologetic tone, and turned to see the man sit down next to him.
"Why not, I don't mind." man leaned on the counter and took the menu, but kept glancing at him. "I'm Basil, by the way."
"Valentine. Vale is fine too. Nice to meet you." he put pair of his hair behind his ear and smiled. "Are you from this area?"
"From Striaton? Not at all. I'm just visiting my friends." Basil said, putting the menu away and looking over his shoulder, towards his companions. "I'm from Castelia, it's far bigger and have better pubs than Striaton, but you don't look into gifted Ponyta in the mouth."
"I have never been in Castelia, not yet at least." Valentine said, and then nodded at barista who brought him his drink. "I'm new here, to be honest."
"Oh really?" his speaker asked, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. He then leaned to the barista and ordered three drinks. "That's interesting. Where are you from, then? Taking on the gym challenge?"
"From Kalos, I just arrived yesterday." he then took a sip of his drink, feeling fairly relaxed. "I'm still not sure if I want to fight in the gyms, though. I'm mainly just taking a break from studies, and my team is.. probably too weak to fight in real battle."
Basil rubbed his chin and eyed him curiously. There was another gleam in his eyes, that he couldn't really tell what it meant, and felt a bit funny. Vale took another sip, just to not feel too awkward.
"I don't see visitors from Kalos too often, despite Unova being quite popular. Or students." he said, leaning back for a stretch. "Usually young or semi-advanced trainers looking for new challenge. It's not too difficult to be a Pokemon trainer, as long you know your opponent's weaknesses."
Valentine looked at him with curiosity, focusing on his drink too. But then something caught his attention outside, and turned around towards the windows. He could swore he saw someone standing outside and looking at him, but then mysterious person.. disappeared. He blinked, feeling a bit uneasy and flinched when his speaker tapped his shoulder.
"Are you good?" Basil asked with oddly worried tone as he turned to him.
"W- what? Erm, yes, yes. I thought I saw something." Vale blinked and shook his shoulders. "Where were we?"
"About trainers, gyms and studies." he replied calmly and smiled. "I asked, what were you studying? If that's okay to ask."
"Oh, it's fine. Medicine, the human one. But it overlaps with Pokemon field too, so I know a bit about it too." Valentine replied, chuckling slightly. "I haven't finished them yet, but it more than half way done."
"Fascinating. I'm sure those are quite hard, but a break won't hurt. And with Pokemons on your own, you may learn more in practice." Basil smiled at him back, but then barista brought him back his order. "I'm going to join my buddies, if you don't mind. It was nice talking with you, Vale."
"I can say same about you, Basil." Valentine replied with a nod and slight smile. "Hope to see you again sometime."
Dark-haired man patted his shoulder and shot him a smile once more before taking the three ordered drinks and leaving the counter. Vale looked after him for a moment, before turning away and focusing on his drink. He was feeling a bit funny, but in a good way."Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"

It was getting pretty late, and he didn't really want to sit here entire night and drink until he faints. It was nice and all, but he was getting pretty tired. Valentine finished his drink with one last sip, and put the glass on the desk for barista to take. He also paid for it, leaving a tip too and got up off his chair. He looked once more in Basil's direction, only to see him deep in conversation with his friends. Part of him wanted to get close and join, but.. tiredness was already seeping in and he was feeling a bit dizzy. Well, even people like him get tired sometimes, so he dipped his goodbyes and left the place.
He managed to return to the Pokemon Center, but on his way up, he bumped with someone on the stairs. It was dark and he had a slight trouble seeing well now, so.. he didn't really see anyone at front.
"Sorry." he mumbled, moving past the person.
"You should watch where you are going." he heard them mumble, and from his understanding it was some old man. He turned around to face him, but the man already went somewhere.
Valentine sighed irritated, and without further interruptions got into his room. He let his Pokemons rest outside of their PokeBalls, while he took a quick shower and then tucked himself to bed.

He woke up a bit later than usual, but at least he had no hangover. Or any other pain, in his legs or so. Which was ultimately a good sign and he stretched without any worry. His Pokemons were still asleep, and not wanting to wake them up yet, he went to the bathroom to prepare himself for the day. He had a lot more to do now, since it was early.
After that, he picked most of his important belongings and woke up his team for breakfast. Since his group grew quite a lot, he put them in their respectful PokeBalls, just to not make a big crowd going down to the dining area.
Most guests were already awake, talking and eating. He didn't spot the old man from before among them, and couldn't help but wonder if it was the same person from Accumula or not. He probably shouldn't think too much about it.. it could be just a coincidence. Absolutely. Now, wanting to focus on something else, he prepared food for his Pokemons and then for himself. While sitting, he took out his phone and decided to message Fabian.
"hey how was your first gym battle?? you never talked abt it and im debating about mine" he knew it was too early for his brother to be awake, but he wanted this out of his system. Knowing that the reply won't come fast, he put his phone away and then gathered his Pokemons to leave.
The day seemed to be quite sunny and warm, and as long it wasn't going to be uncomfortably hot, he wasn't going to mind. He preferred colder weather, but alright.
He spotted many building and businesses being open, while the ones that worked at later hours already closed and cleaned up. On his venture he came across a bigger building, from which he heard tons of kids playing and talking. That must been a school of some sorts, maybe even Trainer's School. One of the students left through the main door and looked around, as in hurry. Valentine tried not to pay attention to him, but kid spotted him anyways and came closer, clutching his bag.
"Excuse me sir! Could you help me?" trainer called and stopped little than two meters in front of him. He seemed quite nervous and moved from one leg to another.
"What is it, kid?" Vale crossed his arms, looking at the kid curiously.
"I- um." he looked down, probably not expecting him to actually stop and pay him attention. "I have a trainer assessment in school and I.. I need someone to battle with. Pretty please?"
Valentine raised a brow. If anyone can have a Pokemon and be a trainer, why do they need a special school for it? He didn't understand it completely, even his brother didn't study in one of those, but.. he wasn't also going to question it too deeply. So he shrugged. "Sure. Show me what you got."
"A-alight! Thanks you!" kid nodded and rummaged through his schoolbag for a single PokeBall. "Venipede, go!"
He then let out a weird, purple bug Pokemon. It had multiple legs and oddly round body. Pokemon wiggled its antennas lazily and blinked as if it just woke up.
"Ophelia, you go too." he has been using her quite a lot recently, but she should be best in dealing with bugs. He could use different Pokemon, of course, but kid should know not to expect easy challenge with total strangers.
As expected, boy looked at her and his mood dropped a bit. There was something else in his eyes, but quickly disappeared. "Start with Rollout!"
Venipede curled into a ball and with surprising speed launched itself into the air and centrally hit Woobat midair. That was unexpected and it must hurt too, because Ophelia barely managed to stay in the air and trembled.
"Counter it with Confusion!" he ordered, and instantly Woobat swooped at her opponent, engulfing it with purple colored aura. Bug screeched and curled itself into a ball, trying to take cover but Woobat's attack was surprisingly stronger than he thought.
"Oh no!" the kid cried, seeing his Pokemon lose and fell over in one hit. "Ouh.."
"Yesh, sorry about that." he said, giving Ophelia one Potion. She didn't seem too badly hurt and in need for serious emergency, so Potion should be enough.
"N-no no, it's okay! That's how battles go.. a-after all. I- um, should try harder next time or I won't pass." he said with a sad voice and hid his Pokemon to its PokeBall. Then, without another word, ran past Vale towards the Pokemon Center.
Man shrugged. The kid had spirit, he assumed, but not with this attitude.

He stayed near the school for a bit, before turning and walking away. He didn't want to come off as weird, so. He also heard a noise comings from his phone, so he took it out.
"fuck vale" was the first message, which made him chuckle. "seriously?? at 10am???"
"sooorry, i was afraid i would forgot to ask later" he replied, leaning on a wall of some building.
"as if you ever forgot anything ever" came as a reply, and then after a minute another. "it was HARD. i had to retake the battle few times, but viola was also using a full vivillon, which i think is unfair but sure."
Retaking the fight didn't sound too good. It could make him look... like some desperate newbie who don't know what he is doing. He would prefer winning first time, than lose ten times in a row.
"before you jump head right into it, check gym's specialization for sure. and dont to stupid shit" he noticed another reply. Well, it sounded as obvious as day, but it was still good advice.
"mkay, thanks. sorry i woke you up" Vale sent this, and then noticed someone approaching him.
That was the kid from before. He was walking a bit slow, as unsure if he can approach him again, and looked.. even more unsure.
"Don't you have school to attend?" Valentine asked rising his brow. Kid flinched, but kept looking at him and opened his mouth.
"I- uh. I have a question." he said, quietly, completely ignoring his question. "Where.. where did you found this Woobat?"
The question took him by a surprise. He looked at his bag, and then back at boy. "In Nuvema, in some damaged PokeBall. Why?"
"W-well.. I think she belonged to my friend, b-but I'm not sure." young trainer mumbled, looking away. Well, if it was true, then Woobat's previous trainer was.. just some teenager.
Vale really needed to re-think his potential way of handling him then.

"Y-yes, that's Olivier. I- uh. I think he lost the battle against the gym trainer, and uh.. got mad." he inhaled. "He always get mad at his Pokemons when he loses, instead of.. well.. realizing that he didn't prepare them at all.. And treats them badly afterwards."
"I see. What's your name, then?" Vale asked, not wanting to keep calling him 'boy' or 'kid'.
"Zachary.. mister?" boy blinked at him, awaiting answer.
"Valentine." he smiled at him gently. "Alright, I must go now. And you should return to school."
"O-okay! Goodbye mister!" Zach waved too as a goodbye, and rushed towards the right building.
With that out of the way, Valentine checked his phone for new message from his brother. "whatever, i had to wake up earlier anyways."
He wanted to reply, but something else caught his attention. He wandered a bit further from the streets, and came across a road leading somewhere behind the trees. Curiously, he followed the path."Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"

When they arrived to the city, it was getting darker and colder. It was still quite early, but Vale was definitely exhausted and needed proper rest. He and Tristan bid their farewells, since he was heading to the Pokemon Center and blonde man towards his own apartment, deeper into the Striaton. It was one hell of a day, and Valentine couldn't be happier for it to be over.
The Center was thankfully quiet, and after feeding his Pokemons (who deserved it more than anything.. maybe other than some good rest too), he head back to his room. He left his team out of their PokeBalls to rest on the other bed together, while he took a long shower, trying to wash away stress and discomfort from experienced nightmare. He almost subconsciously tightly grasped his arm, but released it before he could do any damage. He shut his eyes tightly, letting the water wash him completely and with a deep sight, turned the shower off. He felt somewhat better.
Vale entered the bedroom, where he saw most of his Pokemons already sleeping. Only Audino remained awake, and raised her head to face him. She hummed and handed him his bag. It was a bit odd, but as if realizing something, he took out his phone. It had two notifications from missed calls, and both were from Fabian. One was from few hours ago (probably when he was unconscious), and the other one was from few minutes ago. He sighed - his twin rarely called, but if he did then probably something had happened. And since he hadn't picked up either times.. Fabian must be now really worried.

After few minutes, he finally gathered enough strength in himself to call his brother back. As expected, he picked up almost instantly.
"What the hell, Vale? What took you so long?" was very first thing he heard.
"I'm sorry, okay. Sorry, I was just.. sorry." he mumbled, not even bothering with his voice tone or anything. And it must had took Fabian completely off guard, because there was a pause.
"Vale, are you okay? You sound wrong." his brother asked, with surprisingly worried tone. He usually didn't show that, either by his expression or tone, but now it was obvious as day. "Had something happened?"
"In a way, yes.. but I'm safe now, it's nothing too bad." Valentine said, and rolled on his back to stare at the ceiling. He was seriously tired, but it was kind of comforting hearing his brother's voice. "II'm mostly just.. tired, that's all."
"I- okay. Alright, I see. I have called before, because you hadn't replied to my message." Fabian explained, with still obvious concern in his voice. "Which is rather unusual for you. But I'm glad to hear you now, even if you aren't in best mood."
He chuckled slightly. He was in a weird mood, that was right, but it was still kind of amusing that his brother recognized it through the phone. They always heard about some weird connection between twins, but it sounded ridiculous.
"I'm a bit better now. It was very.. stressful day and that's all." he said, trying to not sound as exhausted but he probably failed because he heard his twin shuffle nervously.
"Yeah, I can tell. You usually don't sound so done with everything, and even then you.. hide it better, you know." Fabian said, not bothering with sugarcoating it at all. That was definitely in his style, though, and it made Valentine laugh a bit. "The hell are you laughing at?"
"At least you sound like normal. Honest to a fault and straight to the damn point." he rubbed his face, still laughing. He tried to not wake his Pokemon up, but it was a bit hard.
He heard his brother mutter something under his breath, probably in slight irritation but then he heard him chuckle too. "You say it as if it's a bad thing. At least I made you laugh, and it's a good thing."
They both laughed a bit, and somehow Vale felt better. Lighter even. There was still a thing on the tip of his tongue, but.. he decided against saying it. It wasn't the right moment to mention Amber.
"Thanks Fabian, I really needed that." he said, as he rolled on his stomach on the bed. He spotted Audino sitting on the other bed and looking at him, blinking slowly and kindly at him. "I think my Pokemon agrees with it, too."
"See, told you it was good." his twin replied with more relaxed tone. "Well, I just wanted to check on you and how you were doing. But I get it's pretty late, and you sound seriously tired."
"I surely am. But thanks anyways." he said, sighing.
"No problem. I hope you will feel better tomorrow." Fabian said, with more relaxed tone than before. They bid their goodbyes and Vale hanged up.
He did felt a bit better, at least he knew that everything seemed normal back in his family home. And now with that out of the way, he could finally go to sleep - with a little bit better mood than before the call."Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"

He surprisingly slept very well that night, but then woke up a bit late than normally. It was still early by some people standards, but.. not for him. He was definitely an early bird. Vale stretched with a yawn, and got up to prepare himself for the day. His Pokemons also began to stir awake, so it was only a matter of time for them to move down for the breakfast.
Per usual, he was one of few people awake in the Center, but he spotted the man with Furfrou again. The fancy dog was eating near his owner, who was reading some newspaper and drinking coffee. He looked like some serious businessman, but Vale couldn't shake the feeling that he was following him. It was dumb, because that could be just coincidence.. but still. Why would someone bother traveling from city to city rather than using money for a train? Vale couldn't afford it, and besides he still wanted to try and fight in a gym. For now he pushed away those thoughts and prepared food for himself and his team.
After all that, they left the Pokemon Center for.. he had actually no idea what. He wasn't sure if he was ready for the gym yet, and he was definitely not going to explore Dreamyard again. But before he could even decide, Vale saw someone waving at him, not too far away - and he recognized Tristan. Blonde man was wearing less messy outfit than yesterday, but he was still surprised to see him again.
"Hi Vale! I hope you had a good night." younger man said the moment Valentine got closer.
"I had. Were you waiting for me?" he asked, raising his brow curiously. He wasn't expecting to see him again, or at least not that early.
"Well.. kind of? I was curious how you were doing after yesterday. You were pretty shaken from it." his speaker answered, rubbing back of his neck and smiling a bit embarrassed.
"You know I'm not your responsibility, right?" Valentine said crossing his arms. After seeing the other man getting more embarrassed, he sighed. "Well, I appreciate it, but I would rather not touch the subject anymore."
"Oh, s-sure! Right, sorry. I was just wondering.." Tristan started and then paused for a moment. Vale tilted his head, waiting patiently for him to continue, since had nothing better to do. "If I could still help you with something. I know the city pretty well."
Vale could tell that he didn't want to come off as pushy, and he knew that people tended to gravitate towards him for one reason or another, but that was first time since he left Kalos that happened. That was a bit odd, especially due to the way they had met, but not the strangest thing he had ever experienced.
"If you know a good clothing store, that would be great. I can't get a dirt strain from my other jacket since yesterday." he explained and looked at the sleeved of the one he was wearing. That's what he got from lying on the ground.
"Sure, no problem! I know one, follow me." Tristan said with excited tone, and began leading him into the city.
He really hoped he wasn't making yet another mistake. "Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"

They weren't walking for too long, before they came across some clothing store. Two mannequins were standing outside and presenting some outfits, indicating that the store was already open. There was also a sign plastered on the main door, informing that they are 'looking for help in making new, cute outfits for Pokemons'. That made Vale pause for a second - he had few cute Pokemons.. although 'cute' was definitely an objective statement, and not every person might agree with him. He may also ask what they actually need.. but first, he needed to get his stuff first.
"Oh, had that caught your attention?" Tristan asked, when they entered the store. "It's pretty common for lesser known stores to put those out."
"I figured. I saw them commonly on lesser attended streets of Lumiose." he mumbled in a response.
The store was quite big, with different sectors designed for adults, kids and Pokemons. The Pokemon one seemed the smallest, but that wasn't his concern for now. Tristan walked towards one of the store workers, while he went to the adult part of the store and began his search. He wasn't a big man, or even a person in general, so looking for the right jacket shouldn't be too hard in theory. In practice however, most were too big. He grumbled before spotting one of the employees walking towards him.
"Do you need help, sir?" she asked, with a calm tone.
"Actually, yes. I'm having a trouble finding a jacket of right size." he explained, taking one that interested him. "Are there smaller sizes for those?"
Woman made a long 'Hmmmh' noise, taking the jacket from him. "I have to check in the storage room, but we should have them. One moment, please."
Valentine nodded, and watched her leave. In the meantime, he decided to search for Tristan - he took him there after all.
He found the blonde man talking with other worker, with his Fennekin sitting on the counter and getting dressed up. The fox was sitting patiently and flicked its ears, when his trainer placed some orange bow on his head. It looked a bit silly, but he was amazed how patient the Pokemon was.
Tristan noticed him and smiled. "Hey, have you found what you wanted?"
"Kind of. The shopkeeper went to get smaller size from the storage room." he explained, as he eyed Fennekin up and down. "And what is happening exactly?"
"Well, she asked if I had some cute Pokemon to help with outfits for smaller Pokemons, and I thought Cinder would be a great assistant." the other man explained, petting his Pokemon behind its ear. "But it's not exactly as 'mythical' as we expected.. but don't you have a Marill? It's also small and cute."
Vale rubbed his chin, thinking. He was right, but Nixie was.. rather mischievous little thing. She probably wouldn't mind helping and getting attention, but someone would have to look after her not to get in trouble.
"Sure. Just keep eye on her when I'm away, okay?" he said, and took Marill out of her PokeBall.
She rubbed her eyes and looked around curiously, before turning to him.
"Nixie, would you help Tristan and shop workers in preparing some Pokemon outfits? You are right size, and everyone will be happy if you do." he explained to her, rubbing her behind the ears. Marill made a quiet noise, but when he took his hand, she nodded. He did saw an impish glow in her eyes, but.. this wasn't exactly his problem now."Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"

After leaving Nixie with the rest, Valentine walked back to the place where he last saw the other worker. He didn't want her to search thought the store just to find him, so he may as well save someone's time. It still took few minutes, but the worker did eventually came back, with few jackets in her hands.
"It's one of the smaller size." she said, as she handed him one.
"Thanks you." he replied, and tried one on. And then another, when he didn't like the pattern on it. But after third try, he got one he actually liked. "I will take this one."
"Alright, would you like to finalize-" before she could finish the sentence, they both spotted the Fennekin suddenly running past them and disappear around the corner. "Wasn't that your friend's Pokemon?"
He wouldn't necessarily call him his 'friend' yet, but still decided to nod. "I'm pretty sure, yes. Where is he going?"
They got their answer soon after, with Tristan running towards them, with uncertainty obvious on his face. "Hey, have you seen Cinder and Nixie?"
Vale narrowed his brow. That wasn't good. "We just saw Fennekin run in this direction, but I think I told you to watch Marill."
"And I was! But Mary needed help in getting something off the shelf and I looked away for a second! And they were both gone!" blonde man explained with desperate and slightly offended tone.
"If they ran deeper into the store, it shouldn't be hard to find them. This way are changing rooms." the worker told them calmly, and together they walked in that direction. Vale was still holding the jacket, but was looking at the other man with slight annoyance.
His complains were postponed however, because they all spotted the Fennekin, sniffing around the changing rooms. Most were strangely closed, with the veils waving ever so slightly. Tristan walked towards his Pokemon, who also paused and turned to face him. In that very moment the veil covering the changing room waved wildly and it opened suddenly, revealing a thing handing from the room's ceiling. It looked like some strange, black puppet and it screeched at the nearest pair, who screamed back but in fear. Fennekin's fur bristled, while his trainer tripped backwards and fell on the floor. The worker standing next to Vale also flinched and gasped, while he took a tentative step back and blinked.
After that, the handing thing began laughing and managed to detach itself from the ceiling - and then the pieces of dark clothing fell down, revealing Nixie. How she got herself attached upside down, he had no damn idea, but it was still quite impressive.
Cinder started barking at her, obviously annoyed by her prank, and earned few quick pats from her in return, all while Tristan tried to get up on his footing.
"Hey, give those clothes back!" then they heard the other worker, Mary, call from across the room, as she noticed what Marill was wearing. A scarf and some sweater that was obviously too big on her.. but worked well when trying to scare people. He wondered how she even got those, but knowing her she won't tell. But without hesitation, she took it off and handed it over, before trotting towards him.
"That wasn't what I expected from you." he said, patting her. "But don't do that again. That wasn't part of your job."
Nixie showed him a tongue as a response, but didn't oblige further and they walked back to the main counter, where they worked on the outfits.
"If you finished shopping, could you help us with her then?" Mary turned to him, as she gathered the pieces of clothing his Pokemon used.
"Sure, no problem.""Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"

Marill and Fennekin jumped back on the counter, with the fox turning his head away from her, obviously still offended by her prank. Nixie grinned and showed him a tongue, before turning to her trainer. Valentine raised a brow, before putting down his chosen jacket, waiting to pay for it properly. For now he had to properly keep an eye on his Pokemon, to not repeat the incident from few minutes ago.
"Alright, where were we?" Mary turned towards the blonde man, who rubbed his chin.
"We were trying different colors and sizes. Well, they are the same height but Cinder is more fluffy and needs different sized clothes." he explained and turned to Vale. "You can help us too."
Well, that's what he was here for. He wasn't expecting only watching Marill, because that was boring.
He wasn't too good with fashion stuff though, especially the Pokemon kind, but alright.
First he measured her size and roundness, before wrapping her in some blue and sparkly piece of clothing. It already had holes for arms, so that was a bit easier to keep it on her, and then used clasps to make it stay that way before they sew it properly. He then added another layer, this time of lither blue clothing, that was less sparkly, and hold it together with clasps again.
He noticed Tristan watching his work and trying to mimic it with Fennekin. "Not bad!"
"Thanks you. I would need to tie it with something more elastic, so it's not too tight." he said, and then turned to Mary, who handed him a long tie.
"We will finalize it later, but I like your idea." she said, observing his work and checking the materials. "You are right about using more flexible ties, so they can stretch without breaking."
With help, he managed to sew the pieces together into some odd looking shirt or near dress, and then handed it to Mary. There were people coming and going inside, but they either dealt with clothes themselves, or were handled by other worker. It didn't took long when Tristan finished his idea too, and handed it over.
"This will be enough for now. Thanks both of you." woman said, taking the assembled pieces and then Vale was finally able to pay for his own clothes. It wasn't too expensive, and at least he had something in reserve. He noticed that Mary slipped a Pink Bow into his bag, and he assumed that it was a 'bonus' for help. He didn't complain though, Sylvie will probably like it most.
After that, both men were free to go and bid their farewells with the shopkeepers."Poor George, you can kill him, but you’ll never kill his pride"
