It rushed forward, Loki would knock it away, get in an extra hit if he felt like it, and then the Nidoking would get up and start all over again. The poison type was tiring, but was relentless in trying to gain any prospect in this battle, though its efforts really seemed to be for not if it wasn't going to work out any other form of attack. It didn't even try to make any defensive moves, it was all offense and hard hits and didn't seem to think about anything more. Demeter was getting ready to call off the battle and figure out then what she could get for the poison type on the markets that she was familiar with, but it didn't rush forward again when Loki squared off with it in his two illusions, instead it remained where it stood for a time, as though it were thinking, staring intently at the two black Zoroark that snarled and growled at it in return. The Nidoking was realizing that trying to hit one opponent each time was becoming ineffective and it couldn't continue to take two times the damage each time it tried to attack, so it needed to be able to cause more damage to both opponents as opposed to just one at a time. The poison type huffed and grunted before remaining where it stood, but he opened his fanged muzzle and released an enormous bout of toxic fluid that shot up into the air above them. Demeter watched carefully then, wanting to know what it was trying to do, and Loki too seemed to be at a small loss of words as the Nidoking thrust itself into the air with the momentum of its tail coming down on the ground, and with a twist of its body it struck the mass of toxins with its tail and caused the form to break apart, dissipating into a sort of acid rain that came down towards the ground, showering over the two Zoroark.
The Vesipquen defeated, Naveera was challenged still by the group of Pokemon that she had found herself in the middle of, and an Aromatisse was up next to take on the dragon in the air as it rushed to take charge in the battle. Pokemon Encounter: 12/--Trainer Battle: 185/25Moving: --/3 -> Item Posting: (Ever Stone) 5/40Where: In the middle of the fieldsCompany: No oneMood: Determined, tactical, strategic, ready to work, thoughtful, focusedThinking: We'll spend a few days here to train and work on thingsWearing: --Out of Ball: Loki, Calcifer, Tisodo, Rhydon, Naveera, KyreOOC: The ground was effectively covered now in droplets of the toxic purple mass that the Nidoking had broken over the ground as it landed on the ground with a hard thud, and Loki's illusions had made to run from the shower that was raining over them, but the range had become too large and they couldn't get away before it had rained over them too. Loki didn't seem to concerned though, the poison would do little to cause any harm in such a small concentrated amount as his illusions shook out their fur, but the purple viscous liquid was clung to the fur now and wasn't coming off. While Loki was focused though on ridding the illusion's fur of the poison that had covered them, the Nidoking took his opportunity and breathed a torrent of fire, not at them, but along the ground that had also been covered in his poison, and low and behold the toxins that now covered the ground were potently and violently combustible. Demeter watched in what could be considered shock as the ground ignited almost immediately within the fire that the Nidoking released, and the flames were spreading impossibly fast over the surface of the poison that covered the ground, coming straight for the two Zoroark. The poison ignited as soon as the first ember struck either dark type, and there was an explosion at the contact of such a concentrated amount on their fur and manes, leaving an effective blast trail from the Nidoking to the now charred illusions that Loki had set out.
The Pokemon that Naveera had found herself challenged by were going down one by one as they came to attack her, and soon a small Happiny was coming forward to take its challenge and continue the onslaught of attacks that the dragon was putting up with. Pokemon Encounter: 13/--Trainer Battle: 186/25Moving: --/3 -> Item Posting: (Ever Stone) 6/40Where: In the middle of the fieldsCompany: No oneMood: Determined, tactical, strategic, ready to work, thoughtful, focusedThinking: We'll spend a few days here to train and work on thingsWearing: --Out of Ball: Loki, Calcifer, Tisodo, Rhydon, Naveera, KyreOOC: Standing there in the midst of putrid smoke and an effectively ruined section of the reserve grounds, Demeter and Loki glanced at each other at the Nidoking's prowess that came out in its thought process. That was really quite smart of it, using the poison that it could draw from its body as a form of ignition to cause fire to spread quicker and burn hotter to cause combustion. He broke it up and made it harder for the two Zoroark to escape the range of the attack, while making it appear as not much of a threat as it would have been if one giant mass of poison was coming towards his opponent, and that was really quite ingenious if Demeter considered that from a tactical standpoint. She gave a subtle nod to Loki though as she turned back to face the Nidoking, and at Loki's will the two Zoroark made a struggle to get up from the attack and snarled before running off into the distance among the trees, disappearing and dissipating from reality as the Zoroark released his control on the illusions. The Nidoking huffed and grunted at the Zoroark that ran off into the distance, making sure they weren't going to come back for another round, but Demeter could tell the battle had taken a lot out of him with the scratches and scuffs that shown on his maroon colored armor. She reached into her bag and knew that she had some healing implements that would help in such a case, and now it was time for her to play to good cop advocate since she had already accomplished what she wanted in forcing it into a difficult situation to see how it would respond. She retrieved a small spray that would ease the pain and stinging of any wounds it sustained as she made to move forward towards the poison type, ready to begin reasoning with it.
Among the Pokemon that Naveera found herself in battle with, there was a Primarina that came from a stream that flowed through the grass, and the dragon was ready to take on the water type that challenged her, beginning yet another battle to continue to work on her strength. There was one final thing that she needed in order to start negotiating with the Nidoking, knowing that Minthos was always at the forethought of her mind. Loki and Calcifer aside who were capable of such communications on their own, Minthos allowed her to be able to communicate with her Pokemon to create a better understanding among their training tactics and otherwise. She didn't waste the psychic's energies though if she didn't think it was necessary, but now that she was intent on taking on this poison type for her working team, she wanted Minthos to be aware.
"Minthos, subject Nidoking, open communication parameters," Demeter requested of the psychic type that she knew was listening, and within seconds she could hear not just the grunting of the poison type that she was approaching, but the heaving breaths and coughs that came from it, and a sigh that came from the exertion it had gone through.
"That was impressive," Demeter offered, taking that moment to gain its attention, and the poison type glanced at her with his dark eyes at the sound of her voice. This was the first time she had spoken to him really since she had used him to cross the big water before, and she hadn't really spoken to him much before that regardless. He didn't know much about this human, or the Pokemon she seemed to have with her, but at the time it was the best option for him in order to get out of those never ending hallways.
"You didn't help me," the Nidoking returned with a snuff, having noticed her and the two other Pokemon just standing there off to the side while he fought against those two vicious dark type Pokemon. Demeter didn't flinch at his words, and was keeping a level demeanor as she looked him over, taking his words into consideration.
"I've seen how powerful you are, I didn't want to get in the way," she answered evenly, stating a truth on the matter despite witholding the information that she called for the attack.
Naveera was pushing through the few Pokemon that had come to challenge her to a battle, and was faced with another as a Glalie rushed at her through the air. The dragon used her speed to gain the upper hand in the attack, and made easy work of gaining her footing in the battle against the ice type. He glanced at her hand though, noticing she was holding something, and Demeter only moved to show him the object, a spray that she intended to use to ease his wounds that he had sustained. The poison type made no motion to move away from her advances, and so Demeter moved forward with the bottle in her hands, beginning to spray at the Nidoking's armor to help clean the scs that it had taken.
"What do you want with me? Why am I still here," the poison type asked then after a moment, breathing through his nose to take the bit of stinging that the spray caused, but Demeter was taking things slow, and making sure that she wasn't going to cause any more harm than had already been done. She contemplated her answer to come carefully, knowing that she couldn't keep her motives secret from him any longer, at least her motives on what she and her already existing Pokemon were involved in. Even the young Quilava she had received from that professor in Johto had some idea of what it was they did, though was less than privy to the entirety of their mission.
"You have potential, and I want to help you discover everything that you're capable of," Demeter began, coating the spray over the back of his left shoulder, but the poison type seemed little convinced of this simple answer as he turned to look at her with a glare and a raised eyebrow.
Staying behind from the encounter that Demeter was heading off with the Nidoking, Calcifer was growing rather bored again as he sat there in the middle of the empty fields. He wanted something to occupy his time, however short a venture something might be, and found a small Nidoran to harrass while Demeter was doing buisness. It was worth a shot, always wanting to see what she can get away with before she shows her hand in a situation.
"My teammates and I are not your typical combination of trainer and Pokemon traveling through a region, if you might be familiar with the concept," Demeter began, unsure if the Nidoking was even familiar with humans and the concept of human trainers at all since he had been found in that realm that Darkrai controlled. The poison type could recall a time as a Nidoran when it did remember a human in his life, but it seemed like it was so long ago. He could only remember those dingy hallways in any recent time, but now that Demeter was talking to him and bringing up some old distant memories, he had a faint idea of what it was she was talking about.
"I suppose," he agreed, if only for the sake of her continuing in her explanation of what it was she intended to do with him around. Demeter was working on a small gash in the back of his armor as she nodded at his words, thinking through her next response carefully.
"We are a part of an organization that calls for training that is much more studious and strategic than your typical battle. We work together as an organized tactical force to complete missions that are presented to us by our superiors as opposed to simply traveling without direction or wandering from one battle to the next. We are not friends, but treat each others as colleagues and equals in which when respect is earned it is both given and received," Demeter explained, taking care in making sure that the poison type was aware that he was not going to be treated like some pet, or like some common animal, but he was not going to be granted any leniency and any sort of lack of contribution would not be tolerated either.
The Nidoran ran off into the bushes as Calcifer had taken a short time to run it around in circles, but then he was faced with a much stronger opposition as a Muk bubbled up from the ground and made to attack the ghost. The Nidoking breathed a little easier though now that he didn't feel the scratches on his armor, though he was a little skeptical still about the human's motives, and contemplated what it was he had been told.
"A group of humans? You're not friends with Pokemon, but you use them to work," he commented, having taken that out of the explanation that Demeter gave, and she could have expected something as such from a Pokemon that was not already part of the Cipher organization.
"Do you see any leashes? Any forms of restraint? My teammates are free to act of their own will. As I said, they are treated like equals, not like some common animal," she iterated, bringing up a fair point for the Nidoking to consider as he looked over Calcifer in the distance, and Loki whom stood beside her.
"A Pokemon who is a part of the organization gets just as much right and will as any human who is also a part of it. Pokemon are recognized for their performance and prowess just like any human, and can advance themselves in the ranks in which they are recognized," Demeter continued, and while she did conveniently leave out the part that Pokemon could be subject to reassignment or even reconditioning should they perform poorly, it was in fact another truth that Demeter gave otherwise. Naveera was a prime example of what it could mean for a Pokemon to perform well and be recognized for the work they put forth.
"Our partner Naveera is one of the top performing Pokemon in the organization, acclaimed for her talent and capabilities because she has taken her job very seriously and takes pride in her work," she explained, knowing the Nidoking had seen, but not quite met, Naveera.
Out in the fields, Naveera was lofting through the air as she watched the Rhydon below, but caught herself in battle with a grass type Pokemon to bide her time and occupy herself, using her strength and speed to her advantage. He couldn't deny the fact that she brought him out of that place, even if he wasn't privy to the fact that she had intended to sell him for profit, and that he was doing things and seeing things outside of those toxic hallways because of her. She hadn't shown him any disrespect so far, and didn't seem one to abuse or degrade Pokemon since her own teammates seemed to think well of her, and he could only assume she was telling him all of this as a part of some proposition.
"You want me to become a part of this organization, don't you," the Nidoking questioned, getting to the point then as he looked to Demeter with his dark eyes. She had moved away from him, standing beside Loki again whom looked over the Nidoking with his shining green eyes, but Demeter didn't jump at the mention of him joining them, or make any motion to over estimate the situation.
"It is your choice, as I cannot force you to travel with us and become a part of our working force," she began, though she knew that she didn't need to say anything more on the matter, she was fairly confident that she already had his attention for one reason or another.
"Right now, our organization took a great hit, and we are working on rebuilding and gathering our resources again. It might be some time before you are inducted into the organization, but coming with us now will ensure that you have a promising future for when we have rebuilt," Demeter explained, and it was true then that it would be some time before she would return to any Cipher base in order to work on any reports or otherwise, but she also had no intention of filing him into the Cipher system, just like the Quilava that she had, knowing that she would have the upper hand with the Pokemon she's managed to capture outside of the Cipher system. The Nidoking was surprised by her lack of an offer, or any real force behind having him join them, and even left it open ended to which he could decide to leave if he so chose. He didn't feel the need to leave though, not as though he was already fond of this human, but he could appreciate that she had goals set and that she wasn't just aimlessly wandering around, and that he might have something to work towards.
"I guess I'll train with you for now," he agreed, evidentally sealing his fate, but Demeter only offered a warm smile at the Nidoking's agreement.
Naveera was making sure the Rhydon wasn't going to kill anything out on the reserve when he heard the sounds of struggle, and electricity, and the shadow Pokemon had gotten into a battle with a strong Primarina that had come up from a river they had found, issuing a challenge. She felt as though he was still leery about being a part of an organization, especially since he wasn't sure what it was they did as a part of this group or what kind of missions they were granted, but that kind of information with him not officially being registered was on a need to know basis, and at the moment, he didn't need to know. His concern was the basics of what Demeter told him in that they were in fact out on a mission gathering resources to help rebuild their facility that had taken a bad hit. That would suffice for now to keep his attention focused, and ensure that the more involved he got, the more loyal he would become. Demeter left the Nidoking alone for a while afterwards and he fought with a Drilbur that came into the area, issuing a call to her Pokemon that were out in the fields from Minthos to let them know to return when they were finished.
Demeter had spent a few days on the reserve as she had planned, but it seemed that the facility was shutting down and shutting out the public as a call for all trainers came to make their exit. With that, and with her few Pokemon that she had had out that day, she made her way back towards the front of the reserve in order to take her leave.
