Lirio couldn’t think of a better idea since he too did not know much about New Bark Town. Plus, Lirio knew the route to Cherrygrove was fairly short and they would be able to make it before nightfall. “That isn’t a bad idea. We should be able to get there before nightfall too as it only took me part of the morning to arrive here from Cherrygrove City earlier today. I think it would be best for us to head there now so we don’t arrive too late,” Lirio said realizing it was already approaching late afternoon. He tried his best to not come off as apprehensive as he had before of Thomas as he noted that the tipsy traveler had given him and Calla more space, perhaps realizing that getting so close to them made Lirio and Calla a bit nervous. Lirio decided to offer an olive branch to Thomas in the form of water he had packed in his bag. This act served more than one purpose though. Its main purpose was to be a sign of friendship between the two. However, the one Lirio cared more about, was that it would help sober the traveler up should he accept the offer so that Lirio could better assess who this stranger was. “Would you care for some water before we get going?” Lirio said with a water bottle in hand and arm stretched slightly towards Thomas.

"My name is Thomas, by the way." He told Lirio, glad things were going so well for him with this practical Stranger. Sure he'd had his Pokemon, but it tended to get lonely out on the road. He was tired of teleporting around from place to place and was thinking how nice it would be to get to slow things down a bit. This was the perfect opportunity to do so. "So which Starter Pokemon did you choose?" He asked, glancing at the building Lirio ahd just come from.
If he could figure out what sort of Pokemon the kid was using, he could better prepare for their journey. He was no Regional Champion, but he'd gotten pretty far in the Kalos Region and even had a few experiences in Alola. Lirio was glad to see that his offering was well-received. Although, he was a bit confused as to why Thomas repeated his name again but didn’t dwell on this fact for too long. Understanding more that this person meant no harm, Lirio now felt it was safe to introduce him to his new Pokemon. Lirio himself was eager to meet his Pokemon for the first time too as he was simply handed a Pokeball without first getting to meet the starter Pokemon. Lirio grabbed Calla from his shoulder and placed her on the ground in front of him. She was unsure why, but did find the momentary trip the ground as a possible start for something new and was excited nonetheless. “I chose the grass-type Chikorita. In fact, when I release her from her Pokeball right now, it will be the first time I meet her as well. So, it is about time I met you. Come on out!” Lirio said as he released the Pokemon in front of both himself and his Sewaddle. It seemed as if the Chikorita had been enjoying a nap in her Pokeball as she yawned when she was released. She gazed around and took note of the fact she wasn’t in the lab anymore and seemed pleased at the change of scenery, nodding in agreement to herself. Lirio bent down to say hello, taking note of every action the Pokemon made. Calla let out a welcoming sound and Lirio put his hand out to shake hands with the Chikorita, saying “Hello, my name is Lirio Mushikaze! I hope we can grow to be friends! I know this is sudden, but we are going to be traveling in a moment, so please come with us.” At first, the Pokemon turned away its head, rejecting the handshake in haughtiness. Seeing this, Lirio had an idea. “I see that may not be what you want to do, but I can assure you it will be fun. I had been thinking about what to call you even before you became my Pokemon and I think I know the perfect name for you after seeing you act for a little while.” It was at this point the Chikorita’s interest was piqued and it briefly glanced towards the trainer. “I shall call you Amaryllis. A beautiful yet poise name, fitting of a Pokemon with seemingly high standards as yourself. So, what do you say, would you like to come with us, Amaryllis?” The Chikorita had tried to keep a poker face while Lirio was talking, but he could tell that the name he decided on had won her over. She shook his still outstretched hand with the leaf on her head. “Perfect! My two companions here are Calla, the Sewaddle in front of you who is my only other Pokemon, and my new friend Thomas next to me. Now, I believe we should be heading out before it gets too late.”

Elfana Aroway Elfana made it a point to track down the train station as soon as they arrived in Newbark Town. She secured a spot for them on the next train to Pallet Town. She didn't want to spend anymore time in Newbark Town than she absolutely had to. While she waited for the train, she began working on Liandry's new collar. She could have done that at any point during the past few days and she was feeling bad about putting it off in favor of traveling. Letting something like exploring a region get in the way of her work didn't sit well with her. She became so caught up in her project that she would have missed the train entirely had Walter not guided her on to it and to their seats from there. Elfana didn't pay as much attention to the design of the train this time. She wanted to get the collar done before they arrived in the next town. Before she knew it they were moving. The train's departure, much like its arrival, had gone entirely unnoticed by her.

After a brief show of gratitude to professor Elm, Curtis wanders to the waters edge of New Bark Town, debating on his next steps. Left to his own thoughts, Curtis' mind wandered over his new partner 'The hostility within this Cyndaquil is impossible not to notice, a deep seated resentment for humans will be difficult to overcome'. As if on cue of thoughts, Cyndaquil managed to come out of it's Pokéballl at will, which got a small chuckle out of Curtis. 'Seems like he's restless, that means it'd do me more good to let him stay out of his pokéball '. Curtis took the time to mull over a nickname for his partner, and ultimately decided on one name. Patting the ground next to him, Curtis muttered "Pyrrhon, you're my partner from this point on, and I'll prove my worth to be your trainer". Curtis said this actively aware that most Pokémon can't understand human language, but because of his body language, his partner Pyrrhon decided to sit by the waters' edge with Curtis.

As Curtis sits by the edge of New Bark town with his partner, a horrible chill goes down his spine, feeling an incredibly ominous aura around him. The air itself grew cold and heavy around Curtis. ‘This intense animosity, it’s not coming from Pyrrhon, so what's behind this chilling atmosphere?’ is the only thought on Curtis’ mind. As quick as this thought entered, the ominous presence soon thereafter vanished. Little did Curtis know, an oddly colored Snorunt hidden in the thicket of New Bark Town watches on, grinning at her target. Curtis decides to get up, with Pyrrhon on his shoulder, and prepare to leave New Bark Town.

Just as Curtis makes his next step out of New Bark, pushing aside the bone-chilling atmosphere, packed up with Pyrrhon on his shoulder beginning his trek to Cherrygrove City. Curtis still has doubt in the back of his mind, thinking ‘I’m not sure about travelling the region, but just as Pyrrhon trusts me, I won’t fret about what lies ahead,’ but with Pyrrhon by his side, Curtis puts these thoughts aside and leaves New Bark, ready to take up the task of being a trainer

Once outside, Avalon put Cyndaquil down so she could walk besides him. The Pokemon sniffed his curiously before following - that somehow surprised him, since she had closed eyes the whole time. Maybe she could hear him just fine anyways. They walked slowly so Soleil could catch up with her a bit funny, bipedal walk. Thankfully the Pokemon Center wasn't all that far and they reached it in minutes. He then walked up the stairs, with Cyndaquil following relatively closely and even managed to climb the stairs. They reached his booked room - Elain was still there, looking through the window. At the noise the older man turned.
"You came back faster than I thought." their uncle commented, before turning back to the window. "Anything interesting?"
"Besides the Cyndaquil? Not really." he responded, sitting down on one of the beds. "I doubt Elm could have the answers we need."
Av toyed with Tiamat's PokeBall for a moment before releasing her. The Ghost Dratini's fins wiggled for a moment, before she settled down near him, curling up in a ball. They brushed her head gently, earning a soft noise from the Pokemon. Soleil rose her head towards the other Pokemon, as if sniffing and then jumped on the bed, to examine Tiamat from a small distance. Dratini didn't seem to be too bothered by it, thankfully.
"Maybe. But it was still worth the shot." Elain muttered, still not looking at him. Now that they thought about it, it made sense - while Elm might knew very little about the subject, he might know someone else who does. As a Pokemon professor he most likely had connections with others like him. And now they felt a bit stupid for not trying.
"I would still need to explain how I even got her, and we don't have time for that." Avalon retorted, watching his Pokemons instead. Tiamat was glancing at the other Pokemon - not quite distrustful, moreso neutrally. But Soleil seemed to get the idea, and lied down, not quite touching the other Pokemon but still somewhat close."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

Silence fell between them as usual, and he left for a moment to visit the bathroom. He still wasn't all that sure where to go - he might stay in Johto, but that seemed too simple and easy. Kanto was very much the same, as both regions were connected. He wanted to branch out, but at the same time, if he were to run into Luther so soon, it will be over. They were definitely too weak to face the man, or any of his followers. There was a part of him hoping that the man was hiding in some shithole far away, where he won't go under any normal circumstances, giving himself time to prepare. But Av knew that making wishes rarely ever worked in his favor.
They shook their head and went back to the room. Elain was now close to the bed where the two Pokemons lied, and he petted Cyndaquil.
"She seems healthy and fed, there isn't need to worry about it today." his uncle muttered, as he stepped back from the Pokemon. "Try not to overfeed them, will you. Even bigger ones."
That was one of the things he ensured they knew and remembered about. While it was nice to share food, sometimes there might not be enough for his whole team - knowing how to divine rations was important on a journey. And, well, to not overwhelm the Pokemon Center. "It will be a while until they grow, though."
"Never underestimate Pokemon's growth." the older man pointed out, and then grinned slightly. "And message me when you move to another city or region. I wanted to give you something, but I left it at home. But transferring works fine in every Pokemon Center."

When it got dark, Elain grabbed his bag and nodded at him. "I will be going now."
"Are you sure about flying at night?" they asked, although they knew the other man won't change his mind and knew better. Sometimes you had to take such risk, to achieve something. But deep down he just didn't want to part with his uncle so soon - while he was used to not live with family or anyone with positive influence on him, it still hurt. Weirdly enough.
"I understand your concerns, but I will be fine. That won't be the first time and Noctowl is nocturnal anyways." Elain responded, rubbing his shoulder. "Also, I'm not a trainer. I can't really stay in a Pokemon Center."
His tone was a bit strange when he said that, but Avalon shrugged that off. He had suspicions that the man was a trainer at one point and just abandoned it a long ago - while he might not see his badges or prizes, his Pokemons were a bit too well trained to be a simple civilian. But they already knew Elain wouldn't easily share that much about himself and his past, and so they just kept the questions to themselves. Surely he will find out in the future, once he will get enough experience.
"Right." he muttered back, after gently showing his hand off shoulder. "Just be careful."
"You too." his uncle finished, but then stopped before leaving. Before they could ask what was wrong, he spoke again. "Ah, and I heard Kalos is really nice this time of year. Might be worth checking it."
Before he could ask what the man meant, Elain left and closed the door behind him. Well, actually it wasn't all that hard to guess what he meant - a potential region to visit. As he wasn't hungry, all that was left for him to do was to take a quick shower and then sleep. He wasn't quite used to sleep alone, even though he did got a separate room in Elain's house - but he always had other, known, person nearby. They might be individualistic and distrustful, but they weren't stupid and they knew humans can't go forever without other's company. Would he will be willing to travel with other people, though? Unlikely.
Avalon always had a little trouble falling asleep, and sometimes Tiamat's presence helped even less, but this time it went rather smoothly. Overnight his Pokemons must had moved closer to him, however, since they weren't lying in the same position they fell asleep. Still, he felt surprisingly very rested and he woke up early enough to potentially catch a train or a boat to another region. Elain's suggestion was still in his mind - but surely he won't be mad if they went somewhere else, right? He lacked better ideas, yes, but no one said the region had to be a final destination. He wanted to explore as much he could, after all.
Grumbling, he got up and got himself ready for the day, and as well woke his Pokemons up. Now it was a good idea to feed them, after a night. Dratini was used to waking up early and rubbed against his leg as a welcome, while Cyndaquil had a slight trouble getting up and yawned the whole way downstairs. He didn't need much for breakfast, and from his understanding Pokemons didn't need all that much either. But they also knew Cyndaquil needed a while to get used to traveling and such weird food rations (assuming Elm is feeding the starter Pokemons a lot, to keep them healthy and similarly build) - so they took went easy on her. At least Tiamat didn't seem to need a lot of food by default, thanks to her weird.. not-quite-alive state. It was still rather confusing, after all those years, but it wasn't like he could just go and ask someone about it, without drawing too much attention.
In further attempt to keep profile and not attract attention, he withdrew both Pokemons to their respective PokeBalls and went upstairs to retrieve his bag. It wasn't the most practical thing in the world, but he needed one still, to carry his necessities and spare clothes. Afterwards, Avalon left the building and headed towards the train station. He knew it will be impossible to avoid boats and Surfing in the future, but for now he decided against it and settled down on trains or traveling in foot. It wasn't optimal, but that was the best he could do for now.
Thankfully he didn't had to wait so long for the right train - at least he assumed it was the right one, heading to Vaniville. If he were to end on wrong region, it was still not the end of the world, just a simple change of plans. And he will keep telling himself that."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

Lucas walked away from the lab and further into town. It was an exceptionally small area, not too unlike her hometown. She watched as the wind carried the leaves off the trees and dropped them off onto the rooftops of homes. She took notice of the wind turbines next to each home, providing wind power to the town's residents. She chose a large rock to sit on and pulled out her notebook and pen. She jotted down notes of everything she had seen in the professor's lab in as much detail as a quick glance could give. In addition, she wrote about the wind turbines and scribbled some sketches for later reference. She set down her writing materials and looked at the PokeBall in her lap. She picked it up, the ball still warm in her hands, and held it out.
"Come on out, Chikorita!" As she spoke, the ball opened and after a light flashed a small Chikorita stood on the ground in front of Lucas. The Chikorita looked up at Lucas with wide eyes and an adorable smile that was contagious enough to get Lucas to smile back. She reached down and picked up the small plant Pokemon and held her in her arms. Lucas looked the leaf Pokemon up and down and made note of her form, size, and weight. The Chikorita bumped her face into Lucas's hand as Lucas pet her head.
"You're quite cute, aren't you?" she asked. Her Chikorita smiled and lay down properly in Lucas's lap. "A quiet one too, I see. We're a little different that way, but I think we'll get along pretty well. We're going to be spending a lot of time learning about this region together. Does that sound fun?" Her Chikorita looked up at Lucas and nodded before resting her head on her small limbs like a mini-pillow. Lucas rested her hand on the small Pokemon's head. She thought about what her next move should be. There were places to go, things to do, food to eat. For now, Lucas settled on thinking of a nickname for the Pokemon laying in her lap. Truthfully, Lucas was never that great at nicknames. She decided to keep it simple for her first Pokemon in 10 years.

Lucas looked around the town and the peaceful atmosphere. She sat petting Rita's head and watching the windmills and people walk around with their Pokemon. She figured that since the town is so small they don't have to rely on Pokemon for energy in much capacity. A town that runs on wind power with turbines providing energy to each home was rather simple compared to some of the systems she had seen back in Hoenn, but she also liked how simple it was while still having clean energy sources instead of burning fossil fuels like people often did in the past and in some of the older areas. After a while of sitting on the bench, she started to get antsy. Her leg started to bounce up and down without her control, disturbing Rita's rest and forcing the little Pokemon to climb off Lucas's lap.
"Ah, sorry Rita," Lucas apologized before sitting up straight and resting her hands on her knees, her leg still shaking. Rita must've sensed that Lucas had too much unreleased energy, because she leapt off the rock and onto the grass. She ran in a small circle before coming back to Lucas and tugging on the leg of the woman's pants with her mouth. Lucas laughed and stood up to follow Rita, who proceeded to run in larger circles. When Lucas didn't move from her spot, Rita tugged on her leg again, motioning for the woman to join her in running around. Lucas picked up the hint and started speed-walking behind Rita as the Leaf Pokemon ran around. While Lucas wasn't exerting a lot of energy, she did enjoy the movement. Rita chirped happily, turned around, and started sprinting towards Lucas. Lucas didn't know what to do so when Rita leapt up high and collided with Lucas, the air was knocked out of her lungs and she fell to the ground with Rita falling not far behind. Thankfully, Lucas made an excellent cushion for Rita to fall on, but the woman was wheezing trying to get air back into her body. Rita jumped off Lucas and bumped her head against Lucas's shoulder in concern. Lucas finally caught her breath again and laughed before sitting up and smiling at Rita to let her know she was fine.
In the bushes a pair of round eyes watched the pair as they shook off the dirt from the fall. The eyes followed Lucas as she picked up Rita and the Pokemon took a perch on the woman's head and shoulders like a small child. With her Pokemon on her shoulders, Lucas took a final look around the town as she caught her breath after getting knocked to the ground. She was starting to get antsy and wanted to get going to the next city, but she also didn't want to forget the quiet, peaceful energy of this town. Thus, she spent her last few minutes trying to write down any remaining details she might have missed into her notebook. Rita spent the walk peering over Lucas's shoulder as if trying to read what her trainer was writing. Since she couldn't actually read it, she mostly looked at the sketches. There were mock up diagrams of wind turbines, generators, and appliances with connecting lines and notes scribbled around them in small text. On a page before the current one were notes for a more complicated setup that involved more machines with information Rita couldn't comprehend. Lucas suddenly closed her notebook and briskly walked towards the edge of the town where Route 29 started. As she stood at the edge her body started to shake from her excitement. She put away the notebook into her bag and turned her head to face Rita and grinned.
"Are you ready for our adventure, Rita?" she asked, her voice louder than before from her excess energy. Her eyes were wide and had bright as she anticipated the start of the journey. Rita chirped with excitement and nodded her head, matching Lucas's enthusiasm. The little Pokemon was excited to travel with her trainer, and she could sense that Lucas felt the same, if her antsy body language wasn't a dead giveaway anyway. Lucas pat Rita on the head and picked her up and gently set her down on the ground so the little Pokemon could walk with her. Rita smiled at her trainer and took a few steps forward towards the Route before looking back at Lucas to make sure she followed.
"Don't worry, I'm coming," she assured Rita as she caught up with her Pokemon in two steps. Eventually the pair settled on a pace where they walked side by side, although Rita tried to walk a few small steps ahead so it would be easier for Lucas to keep an eye on her. Before long the pair had left the cozy town and had set forth towards Cherrygrove City.
Not too far behind a small Pokemon followed the pair. The Pokemon tried its best to keep out of sight out of fear, but was curious enough to stay within a close distance from within the foliage all around the route.
