Out on the southern ocean of the Hoenn Mainland, what looks to be the sunken, decrepit remains of a building can be seen on a cluster of rocks and shallow land, but this area is actually known as a natural preserve in the Hoenn Region as Sea Mauville. Many years ago, Sea Mauville was a research facility that was going to work on extracting the natural resources from the ocean that surrounded it, but after several undocumented incidents and many mishaps, the facility was closed down when the New Mauville project was cancelled. Since then, the remnants of this facility have fallen apart, most parts of it underwater now, but as the city of Mauville was going to demolish what was left, they came to discover that the remains of the facility became an unlikely ecosystem for rare plants indigenous to only so many parts of the region, as well as a number of Pokemon that had started to inhabit the facility, so it is now protected and preserved as a natural reserve for those plants and Pokemon that call it home.
