Located on the western coast of Melemele Island, Route 2 is a long stretch of worn dirt and grass paths that connect Hau’oli city to the Verdant Cavern further North, and leads to the Hau’oli Cemetery. Because the route is so long, and there are no other settlements until one either goes back to Hau’oli or makes the trek around the central mountains back towards Ikki Town, Route 2 has a remote Pokemon center located on the north western coast of the island in order to tend to those traveling trainers and islanders. Now that there were two whole other regions included in the race, she couldn’t very well use the same mapping that she had the last time, there needed to be some changes. She was just about finished working through the Alola Region, noting the locations of the remaining Pokemon centers on the islands, and then it looked like their next destination would be Unova to the north east after that.
The Alola region definitely seemed to be a bit more rural than other regions, the Pokemon Center that showed up on the map next didn’t seem to be in a city or outside of town limits, it was nestled on the edge of the island to the very north west, which was rather interesting. Not too many had made it out this way yet, much to Emiri’s pleasure, having to go through crowds of people was never exactly something that she enjoyed doing. Some of her Pokemon chose to remain circling in the air, knowing that it wouldn’t take long, so Emiri left the baby on Charizard’s saddle as she dismounted and moved into the Pokemon Center. The Joy there gave her a pleasant smile and her Chansey had a stamp at the ready, and Emiri smiled at getting another mark for the beginning of her journey. Tucking her booklet away, Emiri bid them goodbye before moving out to meet Charizard, and keeping the baby close they moved into the air to meet the rest of her Pokemon, and to start moving slightly east. Elfana Aroway Elfana came to regret her decision when she saw Route 2. Why was this route so long?! Somewhere along the path she was supposed to find a Pokemon Center. She found herself wishing that she had a Pokemon with her that was capable of flying. Or perhaps a Rapidash. They could clear the area real quick then. Had Walter not just gone so far out of his way to cut down on their backtracking by teleporting them through the worst of the areas she might have asked him to Teleport them. By the time they reached the Pokemon Center, she was heavily considering it anyway. Three hours suddenly felt like a painfully limited amount of time. She dismissed any of the nurse's attempts at idle chatter when she asked for her stamp. She would have shut down any attempts at conversation anyway but this time around she was particularly short with the nurse. The booklet was taken back and stored away and Elfana headed right back out the door. Iki Town was their last stop. They could finally leave Alola after that- sooner than later if she managed to get to her boat in time. Alola

Walking down the so-called Route 2, Kira was surprised to come across a Pokemon Center in the middle of the road with nothing else around it. The odds of that happening were slim, and she didn't understand what the point was. Did this mean that the distance between Towns and Cities in Alola were greater than anywhere else she'd been? She wasn't sure, but if so then she was going to be spending a whole lot of time in the wild.
She walked in, not really knowing what to expect. It was just a normally functioning Pokemon Center with nothing odd about it. She walked up, passing a number of Trainers, and said hello to the Nurse Joy on duty. She gladly took Kira's book and marked it for Route 2. It was then that Kira noticed There was at least three more Pokemon Centers she would come across in the middle of a road like this. She thanked the Nurse and left the Pokemon Center to tell Lucy what she had found.

Route 2 would be Grim's first pit stop in Alola before heading across the sea. Admittedly he was a little nervous about going out into the great unknown. He hadn't known anything but his parents estate for so long that his knowledge of the world was rather limited. There was one thing he knew though and that was pokemon. Grim could list out every pokemon from every region and even give you their individual stats, he was practically a walking pokedex thanks to his parent's training. It was perhaps one of the few good things he got from them.
Grim made his way along the path and let his gaze travel over the area ahead of him. He was here for one thing and one thing only, pokemon. He would be far more comfortable with three pokemon by his side if he were to travel across the sea, but that all depended on rather he could find a pokemon worth catching in the first place. He wasn't overly picky, but just picky enough thanks to his parent's upbringing. He needed strong pokemon that could grow with him. There was no room for weaklings. ~Wild Encounter 1/5~

First things first. Grim headed off the path and chose a spot to settle down, setting up a small temporary camp to cook lunch before exploring further. He released his new pokemon from his pokeball and crouched to look at the little Rowlet who stared up at him with big eyes. Although it was weak now, Grim knew the Rowlet had promise and would evolve into a powerful pokemon someday. How long that might take he didn't know, but he was willing to stick it out.
"I think I'll call you Ronin..." Grim mused, gently poking the Rowlet on the forehead who in turn let out a coo in reply. It sounded like agreement which was enough for Grim. He wasn't great at names but he thought them important. A name made a pokemon and gave it a sense of individuality. His pokemon weren't going to be just any pokemon, they were going to be a unit that grew stronger together. Grim was determined to raise his pokemon without using his parent's cruel methods. Those ways only created pokemon who knew only violence and anger. He didn't want to be like them. ~Wild Encounter 2/5~

Leer uncurled herself from Grim's neck and let out a little thrilling sound, looking Ronin up and down for a moment before giving a little happy chirp. Without warning she wound herself playfully around the startled Rowlet and snuggled him with happy little chirps. Ronin had no idea how to react, so he just stood there and stared at Grim, who in turn shrugged and made his way back to his things to start lunch. After a few awkward moments, Ronin accepted his fate and huddled down in his new Dreepy blanket, letting out content coos despite himself.
Meanwhile, Grim sat beside his cook set and started preparing food for him and his pokemon. He watched the two interact and gave a little nod. Good. The more they got along the better, they were a team now and had no one to look out for them but each other. They needed no one else. It was hard enough for Grim to force himself to let his pokemon close, and that he only did out of necessity. He knew how important a trainer's bond with his pokemon was, after all... he had grown up seeing what happens without that bond.

"Come get it." Grim sat out two bowls for his pokemon and sat back to eat, his grey gaze searching the trees around them for any signs that the smell of food brought out hungry pokemon. It was one of the reasons he decided to cook out here rather than grab food in town. Making food out here was as much a lure as it was to satisfy his hunger, the sooner he caught a third pokemon the sooner he could leave Alola. By now his parents would be fuming, and he didn't know what they might do. Would they send people after him or just write him off like they did Noir? He hopped the latter.
Leer shot away from Ronin and descended on the bowl of food with no mercy, leaving a startled Ronin to fall over in the dirt. He brushed off his feathers with a grumpy little sound and hopped over to his bowl with a little more dignity, eating it neatly piece by piece rather than the mess that was Leer. Grim watched the two with a new sense of amusement. The two were quite different over all. Leer gave everything one hundred percent, a total all or nothing personality. Ronin on the other hand seemed more reserved, yet still friendly. Closer to a little gentleman than anything.

Grim finished his food and began to put everything away, taking his time to let his pokemon finish as well as to keep an eye out for any wild pokemon. Come on out, I know you're there. He could feel himself being watched and gave a little smirk, hoping it would be a pokemon worth catching. If not he might just have to deal with only having two pokemon and take off before his parents caught up with him. He knew there would be plenty of time to catch more pokemon elsewhere, but he was impatient.
Grim stood up and stretched before tossing some of the leftovers out in the open, a lure to any pokemon nearby. Ronin had to quickly grab Leer to stop her from going for the leftovers, he sat on her and cooed as if telling her off for not thinking first. Leer on the other hand just looked sad. What a waste of food! The wild pokemon wouldn't appreciate it as much as she would! Granted, they might be hungry... so at last she settled down and merely watched, torn between compassion and greed.

The bushes rustled and Grim watched as a wild alolan Meowth sauntered out to the leftover food, sniffing at it for a moment before quickly devouring it and licking it's lips. It wasn't really what Grim was looking for though, so he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. Regardless, it would still make for some good battle experience for his pokemon. Grim looked over Ronin and Leer for a brief moment before signaling to Ronin. "You're up, Ronin, show me what you got." Although his tone was neutral, he gave the Rowlet an encouraging nod before turning his attention back to the wild pokemon.

There had to be more pokemon in this area with better value, not that a meowth had no value, it just wasn't what he was looking for. He needed strength and agility, something that could keep up with his plans. Grim bit his lip and strode forward down the path to find more opponents. He knew growithe had been seen in the area and that remained his main goal. A strong fire type could be just what he needed to plump up his team. However, he knew the odds of finding one was slim at best. He couldn't afford the time it might take to specifically search for that pokemon. He had to hurry and couldn't afford to be too picky. "You did good Ronin." As he walked he looked down at the Rowlett hopping along beside him. Ronin gave a proud hoot and hopped faster to keep up with his trainer, trying to ignore the fact that Leer drifted so effortlessly alongside them. He could fly, sure, but then he would be too fast for his trainer to keep up with! Yes, he was only hopping like this for his trainer's benefit, not because he was stubborn. Not at all.

As he walked, Grim looked up at the sky and let his gaze trace the clouds high above. Clouds had always meant freedom to him. He watched them float far above the ground, only shifting by the breeze with no worry about what happened bellow. It made him and his worries seem small. So what if he was found? He would merely run again. Now he had his own pokemon to protect him. He tried to ignore the fact that his father could easily wipe him and his tiny team off the face of the earth with a single command. They couldn't actually put up a fight if he was found, and the fear of something happening to Leer and Ronin tightened around Grim's throat like a noose. He couldn't let that happen. Despite himself he had already gotten attached to his two pokemon and he didn't know what might happen if he lost them now. Insanity maybe. Luckily his mind had blocked the scene of Severy's death from his memories, but any more trauma would likely push him over the edge and he knew it. Wild Encounter 3/5

Grim sped up his pace and raised his arm invitingly to Ronin, who at once accepted the offer and perched on his forearm, his feathers fluffed in exhaustion from his hopping. Leer at once coiled around Grim's neck with a happy purr and ignored Grim's grunt of effort. Sure Leer was light, but added with the weight of Ronin on his arm and Grim was thankful he had trained his body so hard. It was more than a nuisance than any real struggle but as he continued down the path he wondered if he had just returned them to their pokeballs. Leer had yet to be in her pokeball since he stole her and frankly he was starting to worry he was spoiling her. Oh well... he supposed she was enjoying her freedom just as much as he was. The hatchery back at the estate wasn't exactly the warmest place. It was more practical than comfortable, and he had always felt sorry for the baby pokemon raised in it without any kindness. Like their parents they would become battle-ready monsters, but Leer would be different. He would prove their way wasn't the proper way.Wild Encounter 4/5

A rustling in the bush made Grim stop in his tracks and crouch as a Makuhita waddled out into the open. Although it wasn't what he had hopped for, it was still a pokemon that showed a lot of promise. It's evolution was a tough fighter with a solid defense and although it didn't quite fit his battle style, he would just have to work with what he got. That is, if he could catch it in the first place.
"Alright Ronin, you're up!" Grim stood and held out his arm, giving the Rowlet a little help lifting off into the air. With a hoot Ronin dove at the surprised Makuhita ready for a fight.

After a few anxious moments the pokeball became still, a clicking sound signaling the capture was a success. As childish as it might be, there was something so thrilling about catching your first wild pokemon. Not to mention what the catch signified, he now had three pokemon and was ready to make dust. No use waiting around any longer, it was time to move on.

Arriving on Route 2, Alice immediately sensed a change in her surroundings. Here, the sounds of pokemon were plenty. However, her first sighting of a pokemon wasn't anything special. A brown and yellow weasel-like thing jumped from the bushes onto the path before baring it's teeth at them. It was an ugly thing, and something Alice had zero interest in acquiring, but it seemed to want a battle. Well, it would be good for they're first battle at least!

In the end, Alice decided against catching something so ugly. She would wait for a better pokemon, even if that meant waiting for awhile. As antsy as she was to complete her task, she knew she wouldn't be able to complete it immediately. Even so, she walked a little faster as she continued down the road, her gaze searching out a pokemon of worth. Rattata, Smergle.... all ugly, all useless. It seemed finding a good pokemon was going to be difficult to say the least.

As Alice reached the end of Route 2 she sighed and sat down on a log near the road. She pulled out her map once again and looked at her options. A meadow, a City, or a Graveyard. The city would be difficult to find pokemon in, so it was the meadow or the graveyard. As nice as a stroll through a meadow might be, she eventually chose the graveyard. Night was falling, which meant no people would be there, but ghost pokemon might be. She had always liked Ghost pokemon. They weren't one of her favourite types, but they were pretty close. Getting a ghost type of her own would be perfect! Smiling, Alice stood up and continued down the road, turning left to go to the graveyard in hopes of finding her new 'friend'.

Alice stomped down the path with an angry look fixed on her face. She carried a thick stick in her hand just in case she ran into any angry pokemon, seeing as she now had no protection. Starting out was a lot rougher than she had imagined. She only had one pokemon, and if they fainted, well... she had nothing. Maybe she shouldn't have been so picky about catching pokemon after all. Nyx had seemed so strong... but every pokemon had a weakness.

As Alice continued down the path, she grew somewhat nervous. It was already weird to not have Nyx by her side, and she felt the absence like a void around her. Every sound that came from the bushes around her sent a jolt down her spine, and she readied her stick just in case a wild pokemon got any ideas. She wasn't scared to hit a pokemon with it if need be. What else could she do? Run like a coward? No. She'd fight if she had too, she just hoped she wouldn't.

Despite her worries, nothing came out of the bushes to attack her. By the time Hau'oli City came into sight Alice was stressed, but at the sigh she let out her breath and hurried on. Soon she would have Nyx fixed up and ready to venture once more, and this time Alice was determined to be a better trainer and know what to expect. She had been stupid not to check out the purple pokemon with her pokedex first and see what moves it might know. If she had known it might know a psychic move she might not have took it on. Still, at least she learned from the experience.

She didn't take to an account that traveling all the way with her bag might be problem. Until now she had a stable form of locomotion, but now she was.. well, kind of alone. She didn't even had a bike! How annoying.. she hoped that will get fixed soon enough. At least she did had company, made of her two Pokemons.
But two wasn't enough - if she ever wanted to challenge the league, she needed more. But Clarissa also knew that local wildlife was far from her expectations - they were far below her level. Well, she might be wrong, of course, but so far she hadn't spot anything that could change her mind. To be fair, she hadn't spot... any wild Pokemon. Neither there or in Iki Town. Minus Poochyena, but Rissa doubted that Luca was a wild Pokemon - those Pokemons weren't native to Alola, from what she gathered thanks to the PokeDex, and she was a Shiny on top of that. But to think someone would had toss her away sounded also ridiculous. Who would treat such pretty, shiny Pokemon that way? Well, if she was ugly, then Clarissa would understand, but that wasn't the point.
But nonetheless, so far the route was.. empty. It was both unnerving and annoying, since she couldn't get a new team member or check her Pokemons in a proper battle. "Your pretty smile is a monster, and your beauty is empty"

The route turned out to be unexpectedly long and boring, even more so than Iki Town. Rissa sighed in annoyance, and her Pokemons seemed to share her 'enthusiasm' - Luca yawned and licked her jaws, while Angled ruffled her feathers and preened her wings again. Miraculously, just at a slight distance, she spotted a Pokemon Center - some shred of civilization after all! The vision of resting a bit and getting something to eat greatly motivated her to keep walking towards the building, with her Pokemons following along.
The Pokemon Center seemed a bit better than the one in Iki Town, with many tourists and potential trainers in the main hall. She could hide her Pokemons in their PokeBalls, but she also wanted them all to see her Shiny Poochyena - either to admire her catch or be jealous of it. There was a slight chance someone might try to steal her, but she believed that Luca will fight them. But so far no one seemed to pay them any attention, which was only adding to her previous irritation.
As she approached nurse's desk, she breather in and out and looked up at her. "Hello, I have a question. Are the wild Pokemons usually so scarce?"
"Oh? Oh, no no! We believe they are hiding, due to what is happening in Heahea." the woman tilted her head as she explained.
That caught her attention. Heahea was one of the richest parts of Alola, accessible from Hau'oli via a boat. And the fact something big is happening that far and yet affecting wilds there, sounded interesting. "What is it exactly?"
"From what I know, hordes of wild Dragon types are rampaging through the city, with occasional whirlwinds tossing mass of water onto the streets. It's rather dangerous." she explained, worry obvious in her face. But that only made Clarissa more curious about the place. She knew she should avoid the place with only two Pokemons, but.. she wanted to see.
"Alright, thanks you!" she hummed in reply, before turning to the dining area. She was still hungry, even if she wasn't staying in the Pokemon Center. "Your pretty smile is a monster, and your beauty is empty"

The Pokemon Center food was alright. Thankfully she could prepare a meal herself and she also handed some food to her Pokemons - especially Luca, since Arceus knows when was the last time she ate. Clarissa didn't want to spend too much time there, and so when they all finished eating, she just left the building. She got what she wanted, and now she could continue.
Her back was getting tired from carrying her bag, though, but she was stubborn. Of course she was, she had to be to survive! For now she returned her Pokemons to their PokeBalls, so they will be at full energy when they arrive to Heahea - which will still take a while. Thankfully the time wasn't nearing the night, and the sky was clear. Rissa wondered if the Pokemon Center in Heahea was even available due to the Pokemon invasion, but she probably wasn't the only one person who would visit it for experience and new Pokemons. Hopefully trainers before her will leave her some to catch too! That would be awful if she arrived too late.
At least she still had time to decide where she wanted to go at the end - she didn't want to stay on Alola, of course, but she never been on other regions. Her father was from Hoenn, from what she knew, and he was curious about that region, but Rissa also wanted to branch out and see something completely new. Preferably nothing 'mainstream', overflowing with novices who will try to steal her fame. She knew the deal was 'get eight badger, try the league' but she wanted to win and become a real Champion. That would really get on her mother nerves, but at that point she will have such powerful Pokemons, that Bethany wouldn't dare to touch her! "Your pretty smile is a monster, and your beauty is empty"
