 "A town where you can taste the ages."
Moving to the south eastern part of Kalos, where the hills get a little steeper, Camphrier town is settled just at the cusp of where the region starts to slope into the coasts of Kalos. Camphrier town is a smaller town in Kalos, but is no town to be looked over because of the history that exudes from it. It is laden with old dirt paths and stone walkways that have seen many a trainer, and even many a royal walk through its buildings, which too are old and worn down, but still well taken care of and full and rich with history. The residents of Camphrier town are all very hospitable and generous towards travelers, and will always spare a room in it's known hotel in case one needs to stay the night. However, ask anyone about the crown jewel of this small town, and they will tell you that it is the Shabboneau Castle.
The Shabboneau Castle rests at the very north end of the town, rising over it in the distance with the very grace and presence that those who had lived in it all those years ago displayed. The history of the castle dates back far into the rich history of Kalos, where the family who once lived in the castle were known to be very generous and giving, giving away most of their possessions to the towns people, thus why the castle is so empty. The family had a rivalry with the king of the Parfum Palace, and were often chosen over him by the people of Camphrier Town.

Now that they had made it to a new Town, Thomas was itching to find more of a challenge. The Pokemon he'd found so far were low-level, and he knew that he needed the experience to make his own Pokemon that much more ready for the long fight ahead. Naturally he didn't know who he would meet, what he would fight, and which Pokemon he would add to his team, but he'd be ready for them.
As he walked down the rustic streets of this Town that seemed to be out of time, he thought about everything that must have happened here. His eyes were drawn to the Castle up on the hill. This must have once been a place for Royalty. They didn't really have things like 'Royal Families' where he was from. Combee had been flying next to him the entire trip, it helped him to have some company as he walked. The bee would occasionally be drawn to a nearby flower or plant along the way, but it always found it's way back to Thomas. It buzzed back to his side now, for example. "Hey Honeycomb. Find anything?" He asked with a smile. He'd come up with the nickname on the walk from one Town to the next.
He heard that there wasn't a Gym in this area, that he'd have to move on to the next if he wanted another badge. "Hey, you." Someone called out. "Wait up..." The person caught up to Thomas, catching their breath before they continued. "...battling is an important way to level up. Let's have one." Thomas couldn't think of any reason to say no, so the battle began in the center of the street.

Thomas shouted out; "You can go first." So the Trainer threw out his Pokeball, which sent a Ghastly into battle. "Now we're working with something I know." He grinned, tossing out his own Pokemon. He knew better than to use his Psychic Pokemon, so he sent out Seel. It looked at the Ghosty-Type with interest.
"Ghastly, use Hypnosis!" It's Trainer called, the Ghastly stared at Seel with mesmerizing eyes. Seel closed it's eyes tight and whipped up an Icy Wind which would force the Ghastly's eyes closed and cut off the sleep attack. "Use lick, try and paralyze it."
Seel took the lick in stride, even though it was quite strange. It retaliated by whipping up a second Icy Wind, which was just too much for the Ghastly to take. It began to sink to the ground like a ship taking on water, giving the Trainer plenty of time to return it to the Pokeball before it hit the ground. "Yeah!" Thomas pumped his fist into the air.
"You beat me fair and square..." He held out his hand to Thomas, who shook it politely. "You should take on the Gym Leader in Cyllage City." Thomas thought now. So, the next Gym was in Cyllage City. "Be careful though, he uses Pokemon that I've never seen before. He beat me much faster than you did." -Backpack-

With another victory under his belt, Thomas sprayed Seel with a Potion and returned her to her Pokeball. He decided to call out Ralts, picking the small Pokemon up in his arms before he continued to walk. He didn't need to use the Pokemon Center, he didn't need to visit the Castle, so all that was left to do was leave the area. It was getting dark though, and he was getting pretty tired. He found an empty alley and set up camp for the night.
He recalled Honeycomb and Ralts, letting them get some rest in safety. He called out Scyther to stand guard while he slept. When he woke up, he realized Scyther must have fallen asleep at some point through the night, because he snoozed beside Thomas. "Alright, thanks Scyther. Return." He couldn't blame the guy, Thomas had slept much longer than he wanted to. He should have been in the next town by now.

Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro frowned at the way Hanako insisted on being quieter. Maybe he did like the quiet himself. That didn't change anything in the end. "No. No, you should not." He answered firmly, shaking his head. He shrugged at the inquiry about favorite food. "I do not...favorite. Food. Anything. Food is what I eat. If you want me to choose, I could do that." He remarked. The male stroked his chin as he gave Camphrier Town a quick look over. "There is not much. Perhaps that booth over there. It appears to be a ramen stand." He gestured to the ramen stand and smiled slightly. He did like Ramen. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it filled his belly. A small frog-like Pokemon peered out from the corner of one building, watching the pair of trainers even as Attica remained vigilant for another random attack. She looked back as the frog disappeared into the shadows and glared at that space before returning to her duty of keeping Kintaro's gait focused on not going in a random direction. When the pair arrived at the ramen stand Kintaro promptly ordered a chicken ramen bowl and then turned to Hana for her own confirmation of a meal to choose. Kintaro Satoshi Kintaro's expression said plenty about the way he felt relating to Hanako's panic. This was completely unnecessary. He took a slow breath through his nose and opened his eyes again. "Make that two chicken ramens. A plate of Gyoza as well, please." Stated the man as his deadpan stare showed he was just as perturbed by this as they were. He could look this way because Hanako was hiding in his back. She couldn't see him judging her with his facial expression. "Ms. Lucali. You need to sit at the booth." He He stated, moving to do so himself while she tried to remain hidden. "No, you can't share my seat." He was going to nip that idea in the bud before she even considered hopping on his lap for the illusion of safety. He had a duty to perform and she was not going to make it more difficult with her childish anxiety. He needed to be patient with her, he knew that, and he was trying to be. The challenge was that both he and Hana had very different personalities under the eyes of other people. Kintaro was formal and professional. It shot his patience for crap, though. He expected everyone to follow his example when he was like this. Especially people he was with. Hana was being treated completely unfairly and her partner didn't care much that he was doing so.
Croagunk peered out from another corner, watching the pair quietly. It bulged its cheeks at the way Kintaro started behaving and grunted. So much for finding an interesting human. Both of them were terribly defective. Maybe that man could get some better manners beat into him at least. Croagunk was gone again by the time Attica realized they were being watched, causing the Pawniard the growl in frustration before she climbed up one stool and waited for her dinner. "Oh, excuse me. How foolish. Eight Pokemon meals also, please." He handed extra money to the owner, declining his change. It was more than a customary tip, but he had sprang a larger order on them unexpectedly. It was only fair. He released Odyss, Mary, and Marshall to join them at the booth with Odyss helping Mary clamber onto a stool before...tipping one over on his head. Odyss remained on the ground nursing a lump on his head before he propped the stool back up and watched from the floor. Kintaro Satoshi Odyss waved off the concern with an embarrassed laugh, wobbling back and forth until he rolled onto his feet only to be hugged and kissed. Well...maybe it hurt a little. The Quilladin could get used to being held and pet whenever he didn't feel good. "Ms. Lucali. The booth is...Nevermind." Everyone had settled in a little ring except Kintaro and Attica. Pancham didn't have a clue what he was dealing with and chose to wait with the others. Attica stared at Odyss like she wanted to stab him for betraying Kintaro. Marshall was new so she wasn't concerned and Mary was female so it was fine if she abandoned Boss. He didn't need hussies on his team! Kintaro remained seated until the order came through. He smiled tight-lipped at the owner and began passing trays down. Four small bowls of Pokenoodles and one ramen for Hana and her team, then he put three bowls down in front of his Pokemon while keeping the tray and the remaining bowls for himself and Attica. Kintaro tried not to play favorites but when Attica was the only one willing to sit at the booth he wasn't going to pretend he was happy with the rest either. Odyss and Marshall got into an eating contest without even trying as each ate faster when the other picked up the pace until Odyss chomped his bowl. He immediately regretted biting the ceramic and spit it out on the ground, whining and holding his face where his teeth hurt most. Marshall slurped down the last of his noodles and looked triumphantly at Odyss for not trying to munch the stupid bowl! He had to admit, the temptation remained. Bonus points if he could bite through, right...? Kintaro ate in silence with Mary scooting her bowl and butt closer to his stool so she could eat near her Master. Attica ate quietly also, using her blades to scoop noodles and quietly slurping when she couldn't avoid any noise at all. It was fine this way. She could pretend, just a little bit, that she and her Boss were alone. The noise below were just the help. As much help as those idiots could be...!
"Ms. Lucali, are you sure you do not wish to join us at the booth? It is more comfortable." Kintaro offered after a long silence. He wouldn't make the others get up if they really weren't interested to, it was normal for Pokemon to eat on the ground anyway, but he took issue with Hanako's insistence of being down there with them. He noticed Croagunk spying on them from the corner of his eye but didn't speak up or acknowledge that he saw it. An interesting Pokemon to be sure. He wasn't entirely certain what he wanted to do with this information yet. Maybe he could help Hana train with it. The frog Pokemon certainly looked unhappy to see Kintaro for some strange reason. Or was that its neutral expression? Croagunk looked somewhat menacing normally. He had to be careful if it came to them. It might not want to hurt anyone at all. He made a gesture to Attica as she finished her noodles. She glanced up at him and was about to push her bowl away when he stopped her. The next gesture let her know to finish and act like they hadn't seen anything. She signed back quickly that she understood and hesitated briefly. She tipped her bowl and slurped the soup down noisily as she was trying to draw attention to the booth rather than herself. Kintaro Satoshi Attica was busy trying to figure out what that Croagunk was after while Kintaro was coerced into joining his party on the floor. Hanako might not notice right away that Attica was leaving even after her noisy scene of slurping her noodles as a distraction. The Pawniard was sneaking up behind Croagunk as Kintaro got settled with his ramen in his lap. The blade on her right arm shining on a caught light peering through the shadows as she was poised to strike...
"Of course it is..." Kintaro sighed, and muttered under his breath, watching Odyss and Marshall's aftermath of their contest. The Quilladin was hamming up his tooth ache because Hanako was indulging his behavior. Mary scooted closer to her master and nuzzled his knee before burying her muzzle in her soup and munching at the meaty noodles made for the huntress. He chanced a sideways glance to Croagunk's position, still watching the trainers and no sign of Attica yet. He continued to pretend to ignore it and frowned at Hanako instead. "Odyss, stop stealing Ms. Lucali's lunch." Odyss froze in the middle of plucking a noodle from Hana's offered hand and released it. Marshall snatched the noodle and slurped it up in that same breath and grinned mischievously at the Quilladin. "Marshall! You do not steal food from another's plate. Especially a trainer!" Snapped Kintaro, chiding his Pancham for even poorer behavior than Odyss'. He turned that scowl on Hanako as if to say it served her right for encouraging their childishness in the first place. "Ms. Lucali, please do not feed my Pokemon out of your dish. Odyss has enough habits that require correction." He stated firmly while Odyss looked down and Marshall just laughed as though his Trainer wasn't serious about behaving himself. Who was gonna make him? Odyss blinked when he realized he wasn't getting screamed at or hit right now, perking up and signing to Kintaro while vocalizing his concern at the same time. Where did Attica go?
Croagunk was watching the wicked trainer for an opening to attack him. Maybe she could still help his Pokemon if she chased him away. She had noticed Attica disappear but didn't think to worry about it at first. While Kintaro grew increasingly frustrated she grew more impatient to teach him a lesson. His Quilladin caught her attention when he started to look for something clearly missing. He spoke and she caught the question. What was Attica? She grew concerned in that moment and it was the only thing that saved her from a Pawniard knife to the back.
Kintaro grew tight-lipped and prepared to chide Odyss for bringing up Attica when there was a crash by the corner Croagunk had been watching them from. "ATTICA!" There was a swift exchange of blows between the two Pokemon before Attica was struck in the chest hard by an open palm that hurled her small body across the street into the wall of the ramen stand. "ODYSS! MARSHALL! MARY!" It was the first time Kintaro had really shouted at them, even when he'd been upset with them before. He was angry that Odyss had brought up Attica, which appeared to have been the worst possible time. He was scared Attica was Dark and Steel, Croagunk was Fighting and Poison. Croagunk had a weakness to her but Attica was at the gross disadvantage. "Protect Attica!" Odyss obeyed instantly, scrambling to his feet and running to his teammate's side without a moment's hesitation. Mary moved to interpose herself between her rival and this new threat that had hurt her. Marshall completely ignored the order and rushed Croagunk. He struck at her with Arm Thrust and she stepped back before driving her knee up into the eager little Pancham's chest. She turned and kicked him in the head hard and sent the Pancham sprawling across the ground. He got up, but he was showing that he'd been hurt by the attack. Odyss was frantically shaking Attica pleading with her to wake up and apologizing over and over for blowing her cover. Mary remained poised to strike, watching Croagunk beat up on Marshall who just didn't know when to quit. Kintaro growled low in the back of his throat, frustrated with Marshall's behavior and trying not to let his worry for Attica affect his decisions. "Marshall! Fall back! Make Croagunk come to you!" He ordered his Pancham. Marshall snorted and scoffed before getting punched in the nose by Croagunk and stumbling back into Mary. "Z-Zinnia! Go help Odyss! Ember, help Mar-" "Ignore that! Stay with Hana!" Vervain had just woken up from his nap just in time to snap at the Gardevoir before Hana could finish speaking. Ember didn't have to be told twice. He grabbed his trainer, holding her in place so she wouldn't try to go over and help. Kintaro and the others could handle the Croagunk. "Sage and Vervain help Marshall! If Taro tells you guys to do something, do it!" Hana called to her Pokemon as she tried to resist the urge to struggle against her own Gardevoir. Zinnia wasted little time in going over to assist Odyss in his attempts to try to wake Attica up. Sage protested loudly but still ran over to join the others. Vervain hesitated. He looked between his trainer and the Croagunk with an uncertain expression. "Make sure that thing does not get back up if it tries to attack her." He positioned himself beside Sage after that. Having Ember with them would have made things so much easier. He had a huge advantage over the Croagunk but there was a chance it could slip past them and get to the trainers. Kintaro Satoshi The battle started out poorly. Marshall wouldn't stop rushing at Croagunk and getting promptly smacked right back down. While Croagunk was busy beating her opponent silly, Sage and Vervain came in to help. Or try, at least. Marshall shouted down the Pikachu and Drillbur all while still trying vainly to fight a clearly superior enemy. Croagunk was lazy in her movements, hardly acknowledging Marshall's flailing as worth her effort to avoid before countering. "We do not have to fight. I don't want to hurt you. Just leave your trainers and we can leave." She insisted to the trio facing off with her. All they had to do was abandon Hanako and Kintaro and leave them to her. She believed that trainers were not good for Pokemon. Marshall answered her by lurching into another attack that Croagunk quickly deflected, but her counterattack had been anticipated this time. Marshall interrupted the attempt to punish him and smashed his face into hers roughly, knocking both to the ground where Marshall rolled back onto his feet in a crouch. He was feeling mighty proud of himself until his vision blurred. "Marshall! Get back! Now!" Kintaro had already seen what happened even if he couldn't confirm it with his own eyes. The Pancham struggled to straighten up before collapsing on the ground in front of Sage and Vervain. There was a small puncture on his cheek where Croagunk's venomous claw had pinched its way in. Croagunk looked upset, as much sad as she was irritated that he had pushed for that outcome. "I don't want to hurt you!" She snapped at the remaining enemies. "But that doesn't mean I won't!" She croaked loudly, filling her mouth with venom before spitting it at Sage and running at Vervain. Marshall was enveloped in scarlet light before vanishing. Mary moved up closer to support Sage and Odyss ran to intercept the attack for Vervain. Croagunk noticed the charging Quilladin and stopped short of striking Vervain, slapping his claws away as she slid forward before grappling the Drillbur and twirling so that she had more momentum when she threw him into Odyss. She sprang over to Sage and Mary which didn't end much better with Sage still struggling to clear the venom off of his body before getting kicked upside the head as he found a least-awful scenario for himself. Mary struck Croagunk head-to-head, wrestling with the froggy valiantly before Croagunk got up under the feline and tossed her over to land on Vervain and Odyss. She kicked Sage in the head again as he was just getting up from the last one, then delivered a palm thrust to his chest that sent him sprawling back toward Attica. Croagunk straightened up after beating the ragtag group of Pokemon, lowering her stance as she glared at Ember. Her body trembled, she had only one chance at taking down the Gardevoir. The tension grew until Ember could no longer afford to wait on Croagunk's action. As if synchronized, both Pokemon moved toward one another. Ember threw up his arm to attack Croagunk and she lunged forward with all the force her legs could muster. Her venomous claws were exposed even as Ember's Confusion made the frog's head spin. She refused to be defeated! Even with Ember's Psychic power having the overwhelming advantage, Croagunk's attack came at him as if she felt nothing. Ember shut his eyes against the impending blow, unsure what else he could do if he were poisoned.
There was the sound of a point piercing flesh followed quickly by a "clang!" of claw on metal. Attica, by some miracle, had recovered enough to intercept Croagunk and save Ember from being hit. She had one knife forcing up the hand Croagunk attempted to attack with, the other was stuck into Croagunk's chest. She glared at Croagunk from underneath her helmet which was sporting cracks from Croagunk's earlier beating. "Get your hands...off my idiots!" Bellowed the Pawniard, shoving Croagunk back and rushing in to strike the wild Pokemon with repeated slashes and jabs. "Attica?" Kintaro was understandably shocked to see his Pawniard get back into the fight. She was clearly injured and needed to be returned like Marshall was. "Attica! Do not falter! Watch her feet, and keep her hands off of you!" He called out to his partner, encouraging her and making sure she knew just how to protect herself against another of Croagunk's blows. Attica was moving faster as if the damage had somehow taken a weight off of her. If anything it was hearing the threat Croagunk had made against Kintaro. She would sooner die than let her Boss get hurt, and she would destroy anything that threatened to try!((This is Kintaro's Croagunk event claim, not a Wild Encounter. Kintaro Satoshi Attica and Croagunk struggled with one another. The Pawniard's fury was able to keep up with Croagunk's skills. In desperation Croagunk had tried to poison Attica which only left a smear of toxic slime on the Steel Type before she was smacked upside the head with the flat of a blade. Attica continued to dip and shift her position so as not to be there when Croagunk tried to strike back. She misread one such strike and was nearly hit in the face when Odyss barreled in and charged straight through the struggle to smash Croagunk against the wall of the ramen shop. He staggered back after the impact, eyes spinning as he had put too much force into the rush. Attica was right back to fighting with Croagunk again and their position seemed to change to Ember's best line of fire. Croagunk glanced up when he chastised her viewpoint and attempt to force it upon them, then tried to brace against Shattered Psyche. Her eyes grew wide and her mind blanked leaving her for Attica to cut up and pummel mercilessly. Mary shook off her own daze and Attica quickly grappled the Croagunk, digging the blades on her chest into the frog Pokemon and distracting her with that. The Luxio was confused at first until she realized what this would mean. Croagunk was able to recover her thoughts from the pain of being grabbed by Attica, but too late did she realize what the Pawniard was doing. She struck Attica in the head twice before turning her head to look at the source of the sparking. Mary charged up her own Gigavolt Havoc with the Z Crystal she carried, rushing into Attica and Croagunk at full speed before the space the three of them occupied erupted with what seemed like real lightning strikes! Attica stumbled away after the attack, her blades and horn steaming from the electricity. Croagunk took one step forward trying to balance and fell. Attica shook off her dizzy spell quickly and stood ready to finish off the wicked frog. "Boss!?" The Pawniard was shocked when a Pokeball bounced off of Croagunk's head. "Boss, are you sure?!" Odyss echoed, surprised as much as Attica, but he wasn't entirely sure why this was upsetting. They fought and they caught. He was just worried Kintaro might be making a bad choice. "No way!" Mary mewled out miserably. She promptly fell low on her front legs like she was getting ready to pounce, covering her face with her paws instead and praying she heard that thing break open! The trio of battered Pokemon visibly flinched when the ball dinged. Attica and Mary were upset, Odyss was confused and worried about his trainer's decision. Mary let out a miserable wail of a meow while Attica turned toward Kintaro with her eyes downcast and shaded by her helmet. Kintaro stood straight still in his throwing pose as if he had fully expected Croagunk to escape if he moved so much as a little. "What?" Kintaro could sense the tension from his team, but he was struggling to understand why they would take issue with Croagunk. She was no different than the other wild Pokemon.
Kintaro waited patiently as Attica retrieved the ball like a good Pawniard and presented him with the badly beaten Croagunk. Mary was still crying loudly, Odyss was just nervous all around. He was used to Attica being mad and Mary being sad but they both were reacting to this way worse than anything before. After Kintaro received his Croagunk, he smiled down at his Pawniard. "That was good work, Attica. I am ple--OUCH!" "JERK!" "Atti--OW! STOP THAT!" "TRAITOR!" Attica felt like Kintaro had turned against her and was voicing her opinion violently. She continued to jab Kintaro in the shins with her little knives even though her face was flushed with pride. Kintaro might be a big, stupid jerk who undid all her hard work of getting rid of that stupid frog but he was her big stupid jerk. His praise would always make her happy, even if she wanted to cut him up. Attica was interrupted from stabbing Kintaro again when her raised knife hand was electrified by Mary who had reflexively jumped to her Master's aid when Attica attacked him. The Pawniard fell back, fainted, from the powerful electric shock and Mary meowed loudly first admonishing Attica, then again at Kintaro for her own show of distress. She did not like his new Croagunk either! Kintaro hastily returned Attica, then Mary as she made a noise that caused him concern. He frowned as he looked to Odyss, who nervously stared back with similar levels of confusion. He looked ready to yell at the Quilladin when the shop owner interrupted his tension.
"You did it!" Cried the man gleefully, throwing his hands up and grabbing Kintaro in a tight hug which the male did not know how to respond to except going from a stern look to an anxious one and looking to Odyss for help. "Everyone! That foul-tempered Croagunk was beaten!" Shouted the shop owner, making Kintaro instantly regret capturing the frog. Now he could understand slightly better what Attica was upset about. She had fought hard to protect him and now he owned the thing she was protecting him from. "What--" Kintaro began, only to be interrupted by the enthusiastic vendor. "Oh, you're not from around here. That Croagunk has been harassing everyone for months now! It kept attacking trainers especially! It would assault a trainer and try to steal their Pokemon! We were starting to think it was part of some evil group trying to steal everyone's Pokemon!" He explained hastily, making Odyss' jaw drop while Kintaro looked more uneasy. Just what had he gotten himself into!? It quickly grew worse if Hanako wasn't already panicking, the Camphrier locals began rushing out to congratulate their new hero!((This is Kintaro's Croagunk event claim, not a Wild Encounter. Hanako started to panic the moment the locals decided to rush over to the shop. Were all lunch dates with friends supposed to be like this?! She whimpered miserably when one of the people tried to ask her about her Gardevoir and his unusual appearance. As much as she wanted to answer the person and point out that her Ember was a perfectly normal Gardevoir all she could manage to do was squeak at them. Her vision began to blur, tears welling up in her eyes when the person laughed and tried to pat her head. She needed to get away from the crowd but she couldn't leave Kintaro. Reaching him proved to be easier said than done however. She wasn't very big and she wasn't strong enough to push her way through the crowd either. Even after her Froakie planted himself on her shoulder and tried to scare away anything that got too close to her, progress was still slow. By the time Hana finally reached Kintaro she was a mess. The frightened girl hadn't been able to prevent herself from crying. She grabbed on to him, hiding her face against his chest and whining softly. "P-please leave him alone."
