"Every time I see the light I'm falling deeper in debt" * Avalon Brightburn * There was still tension in the air, since the woman could clearly turn the tables around, given she was just a Pokemon parading as a human. She brushed her hair with one hand before speaking up again. "Well, regardless. You did won my little 'game'." The way she said it so dismissively made him scoff, and he wasn't the only one that found that distasteful. Although the girl sounded more shocked than angry. "So that was it? Just a game? And-" "I'm not talking about you. Whatever happened to you, your Pokemon or your friend isn't my doing. And it's not really my business." she cut her off sharply, sounding somewhat annoyed and even offended at the claim. But that did shut the girl up, maybe out of fear. "I'm talking about them." Well, even before she said that, he could tell that's how it will go. Not that he was happy about it, thought - being targeted by a ghost was one thing, but for said ghost to just admit it like that? It didn't really ease the tension or anything. "I don't appreciate having my Pokemons cursed, thanks you. Or being targeted by malevolent forces." "Let's not go that far." she rolled her eyes and he could swear her form wavered for a moment. Maybe she couldn't hold the human form for that long and it started to break? "I'm not 'malevolent', I'm just bored. And you would be too, if you were in my place." Avalon didn't like the implications of that, and he took a step back. He doubted it was some sort of legendary or mythical Pokemon - they surely wouldn't mingle with people like that, right? And why of all people would they target him? He didn't want to think too hard about it, because it was making him angry.. and deep down fearful. The last thing he needed was some deity to start messing around him."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

"Every time I see the light I'm falling deeper in debt" * Avalon Brightburn * He wondered if his discomfort was really obvious or if it was pure curiosity, because the girl broke the silence that settled between them three. "Well, what are you then?" The woman didn't answer immediately, only eyed them both with an unreadable expression. But after a while, she shrugged and her whole body got shrouded by gray mist, warping and shrinking it. It took mere seconds, but eventually the whole process stopped and her true form was revealed - which was a rather short and fluffy gray fox. It had wavy, wisp-like mane and tail, and bright golden eyes. It didn't look really scary or anything, but he could swear he saw it somewhere.. long time ago, in a book. Modern Pokemons obviously also could transform into people, but she already hinted to be pretty old. "Does that satisfy your curiosity?" she asked, with a more clear voice than before, as she stretched in a more cat-like manner. Her mane weaved on its own, adding her ghostly aura. She was definitely a ghost, though. A dead Pokemon. "You are a.. Hisuian Pokemon?" they asked, not entirely sure of their conclusion. Unlike Volcarona and Slither Wing, they didn't know that much about ancient Hisui and its Pokemons.. except maybe Hisuian Typhlosion. But that would fit with her claims and the fact she looked more like her modern counterpart than a Paradox. She yawned but sat down and flicked her ear. There was a strangely pleased gleam in her eyes as she stared at them. "Glad you do know that. Was worried I will need to explain myself." That still hadn't explained anything to him, really. Maybe he didn't actually want to know why she specifically cursed his Pokemon, though. At the very least he was glad it wasn't some legendary Pokemon - he can live with ancient, but normal, Pokemons messing with him, but not deities. That would be unnecessarily stressful for him."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

"Every time I see the light I'm falling deeper in debt" * Avalon Brightburn * There was a longer pause, during which the Pokemon groomed her fur and he started to really consider turning and leaving. He was too tired to do anything else anymore, and the whole problem was solved anyways, so.. what else there to do? But she then shifted in her position and twitched her ears in his direction. "With that said.. I made up my mind." she tilted her head and blinked, eyes gleaming. Even thought it seemed like her expression was permanently stuck in a solemn way, her eyes betrayed some sort of amusement. "I wouldn't mind joining you. You seem smart enough." That was definitely an unexpected development. He already had a lot of Pokemons, but to have one specifically show interest was new. But he then remembered that they weren't alone here, and it was a rather weird offer to made in front of another person - and the black-haired girl seemed to share the sentiment, as she huffed and asked. "What about me?" "You can look for whoever targeted you, I'm not stopping you." the fox responded simply, waving her paw nonchalantly. She really seemed to not care about the girl and what she has to say, which was kind of rude. But also, he wasn't going to try and change it. He didn't know her, after all. "I'm just not interested." "So long you won't curse any more Pokemons, or humans." he said, before the girl could respond and argue. Now, he wasn't particularly a fan of ghosts or Pokemons that could shapeshift into humans or other Pokemons. But he also wasn't going to turn down another team member.. and if he could prevent more curses that way, then sure. He can learn to live with this. "Deal." she said back after a short pause, as if considering it. Whether it was a good sign or not, he will probably learn later."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

"Every time I see the light I'm falling deeper in debt" * Avalon Brightburn * The catching process went very smoothly, despite the girl being clearly displeased with the development and the Pokemon straight up ignoring her. Not that was Avalon's problem. The Pokemon made her choice and so, he could respect that - no need to throw a tantrum over it. Afterwards, they left the alleyway and separated, as she was rejoined by her companion from before, probably going to complain to him about it. But they were too tired and uninterested in it, so they just kept going towards the Pokemon Center. It wasn't late yet, but they needed to rest their legs and eat something after a whole day of work. Their Pokemons might need to eat something too, after all. Just to minimize the walking up and down the stairs, they headed to the dining area first, to get over with it. As they were prepared the bowls, they thought about sending some more Pokemons home, although weirdly enough it left them with an odd, uncomfortable feeling. It was definitely related to the conversation with Joann before, much to their annoyance. Brushing it aside again, they finished preparing the food and went back to the main area, to actually eat and feed their team. Just like before, his Pokemons decided that it's a great time to spontaneously evolve. This time it was two of them, Snivy and Fletchling, and thankfully they didn't became giants, but it was still a bit odd timing for them to do that."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

"Every time I see the light I'm falling deeper in debt" * Avalon Brightburn * The rest of the day went smoothly, with no more surprises. Some might even say it was boring, but he needed a boring moment to unwind and let his body rest after all. Thankfully Nyx didn't do anything weird, getting used to the new situation peacefully and possibly understood he didn't need more stress. Even though Joann didn't look particularly thrilled about her, but again.. if she doesn't cause problems, it's not a big deal. After, this time, uneventful night, they were actually in much better shape for travel, and it was about time they moved further. Quick study of the map told him, there weren't actually many gates and ways further - besides Santalune City and the north portion of Lumiose, the only other place was Camphrier Town. And that was apparently still the fastest way of getting to the next city with a gym leader, Cyllage. North Lumiose had a gym leader too, from what he just read, but he was much more advanced. Weird how some regions had later gyms put in much easier to access towns than the early ones. But he didn't run the league, so he couldn't really complain. What he could do, however, was to take his stuff and then head towards the exit gate, that led to the next city. Hopefully it won't be that far away."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

"Every time I see the light I'm falling deeper in debt" * Avalon Brightburn * Their relatively good luck in avoiding wild Pokemons ended momentarily as they entered the Lumiose. Thankfully it wasn't much, just a lone Minun, but it did cost him a moment to deal wit it. Again, the city was huge and it was working against him. Getting to the map itself was a hassle, let alone actually finding the right way towards the North portion and the harbor. Not to mention the flood of people moving through the streets, making it even more difficult to navigate around.
{"Battle"}VS. Wild Pokemon Rowlet (lv 11 / 90 HP) vs Wild Minun (lv 7 / 50 HP)
ROUND 1 Rowlet used Skitter Smack! Wild Minun lost 70 HP (0/50). Wild Minun fainted!

"Every time I see the light I'm falling deeper in debt" * Avalon Brightburn * Thankfully he didn't need to heal his Pokemon, as the battle ended swiftly and without any harm done. Which was good, because he didn't need more push-backs in getting to the other half of the city. Tiredness started to really kick in, as he was walking the whole way from Cyllage and Lumiose, without any stops. He sighed deeply, as he took the turn towards the North portion, only hoping the harbor will be easy to find."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

"Every time I see the light I'm falling deeper in debt" * Avalon Brightburn * Eventually he reached what he could only assumed was the 'border' between the two halves. Really, he wondered why it was done that way. Not all big cities were divided like that, and it confused him. For a moment they thought they passed by a familiar face, but they didn't pay too much attention to it. They had better things to do that to entertain other people right now, especially those who they might not know very well to begin with."If I've never seen the good how can it come to amend"

Katie Du'Mont Rookie Pokemon Ranger♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum.
Katie and her crew rolled into South Lumiose City with jaws practically on the ground. This had to be one of the largest cities she'd ever seen, let alone the young Pokemon who hadn't ever seen anything outside of the areas they were born. There was one problem, however, that hit Katie the moment they got within range of the buildings - the smell! It was horrendous. Rarely had the blonde ever been forced to resort to breathing through her mouth, but this was one of those rare occasions.
She looked around, realizing that this must be a side effect of the Grimers that the Professor had sent her out here to deal with, which made this whole thing - officially - her problem. She sighed and lead the small Pokemon off toward the Pokemon Center, where she changed into her Ranger's Uniform. Torchic was eager to get out there and try to find a Grimer, because she'd never seen one and was curious about a Pokemon that could make such an awful smell. Azurill and Poliwag seemed less excited, possibly because they knew they would have to be the ones that dealt with it. Katie wasn't exactly thrilled about the situation herself, but she had a job to do and knew that she had it in her power to help others. The people in this City deserved to be helped out of their situation that, to the best of her knowledge, none of them had caused. She could have no idea in the slightest just how wrong about that she was.
"Alright, everyone ready?" She asked. Torchic nodded eagerly, but the others were a bit less gung-ho. There were so many unexpected things that were about to happen, this day was about to go from one of the worst chores she'd ever been assigned to one of the best days she could remember. They went off in search of the first Grimers that they could convince to move on. The Professor had told her that they were blocking up the canals, so she thought that might be the best place to start looking. Backpack Key Items - Pokedex, Vs Seeker, Old Rod, Bicycle,

Following the horrid smell lead them to the canals alright, and there were at least a dozen of them right in the first place they looked. That wasn't a good sign, because the canals stretched on for miles through the city. She sighed and set to work. "Okay, no chance you guys just want to move on because I asked nicely?" The Grimers stared at her like she was stupid. "Didn't think so. Azurill, Poliwag, Water Gun." They obeyed at once, spraying the toxic Pokemon down and guiding them towards the drain leading out of the city - which turned out to be blocked up by a huge amount of trash and debris. She considered bringing out the second of her mystery gift Pokemon, but decided against it for the moment. "Torchic, I need you to clear any of that you can." Torchic examined the blockage and decided to burn as much of it up as she could. Multiple Ember attacks reduced a bunch of the trash to ashes, which allowed the larger stuff such as a bicycle and other such metal items to pass through the drain. "Thank you, Torchic!" She exclaimed. The two Water-Type Pokemon were now able to spray the Grimers down the canal and out of the City through the drain. TL;DR

Katie Du'Mont Rookie Pokemon Ranger♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum.
The next half hour or so passed pretty peacefully, none of the Grimer in the canals were bothered enough to fight back as Azurill and Poliwag sprayed them down with Water Gun attacks to gently coax them out of the city. Katie had noticed a few times that there were points where the canals went under the city, and she was starting to believe that there was more to this than meets the eye. Grimer were apparently created from toxic environments, but for an infestation this big (even in a city this size) there must be something helping them spawn.
Twenty more minutes of hosing the Grimer down passed, but something awful happened. She glanced in the direction of the underground entrances and spotted a wave of Grimer emerging from the deep darkness and oozing their way towards her. "Get ready, they don't look friendly!" And she was right. These ones, unlike those they'd already handled, were aggressive. They attacked, and Katie - along with a handful of other local Trainers - battled them.

Katie Du'Mont Rookie Pokemon Ranger♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum.
From the first time she saw the black hole going underground into the true depth of the city, she had a feeling she was going to have to go down there and discover what there was to see. It wasn't a fun or pleasant concept and she wasn't looking forward to it in the least. Now that she'd discovered the Grimer were all coming from the void, it seemed she'd been right all along. The handful of local Trainers had been a huge help in keeping the Grimer hordes at bay, but this wasn't their responsibility.
It was hers. She sighed, took a deep breath, and hopped over the edge and slid down to the concrete ledge just above the canal water. It looked like the ledge continued on into the darkness, which was fantastic news. The last thing she wanted at the moment was to go wading through sludge-infested water into the dark depths of a massive city. This was, at the very least, a mild improvement to that. Any time they came across a stray Grimer hurrying along to catch up to the others, Poliwag and Azurill both hosed it down as a deterrent to messing with them. Torchic was a huge help at keeping them able to see in front of them using Ember to light up their surroundings. It wasn't as pitch black as she'd first thought, however, because of the occasional grate overhead leading to the city above in case of flooding all the overflow would be brought down here. She was also exceptionally glad that she hadn't had to wade through the water yet, because she hadn't thought to bring along any tall water-proof boots for the occasion.
More and more Grimer were being spotted and dealt with accordingly, and the smell was getting worse the further in they went. Katie was starting to feel like she had done all this for nothing when the stench amplified by a hundred and odd groaning sounds met her ears. "What the... stay alert." She told her team, who moved closer to her. They were all visibly nervous but also determined to protect her if anything attacked. The walls began to move.
She focused her eyes and realized the walls were literally coated iwth the slime that was quickly turning into Grimers. "Oh no.." She said, realizing that they were wildly out-numbered. "What do we do?" She could feel her heart rate increase and it felt like her heart was going to pound through her chest. They moved closer to her but that wasn't the worst part. A bigger collection of the slime had formed and was way larger than the rest. It groaned so loud the ground trembled. A Muk had shown itself. So, this was the cause of all the Grimer in the city... the Grimers moved in. TL;DR Post 6 of clearing Grimers Backpack Key Items - Pokedex, Vs Seeker, Old Rod, Bicycle,

Katie Du'Mont Rookie Pokemon Ranger♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum.
Surrounded and in danger of serious injury from the toxic Grimers and the matriarch Muk that was a highly unusual blue color. , Katie was starting to worry about escaping this situation at all. "Attack!" She called, and the three of her Pokemon she had out all used their respective attacks to try and keep them back. It was no use, there were just too many. Every time one Grimer got knocked back, two more were right there to take their place. She felt an odd movement from her back.
Grabbing her bag off her shoulder, she opened it up and found the egg she'd been carrying was trembling and cracking. She lifted the egg out of the bag and held it up. It hatched, and a Koffing hovered before her! The odds of this random egg becoming a shiny Pokemon after being given a shiny Torchic were not great, but that's exactly what happened. The shiny Koffing blinked up at her, imprinting on the blonde Human instantly because of her surprised expression that quickly turned into a loving smile.
The Koffing was another gaseous Poison-Type Pokemon. That gave her an idea. "Koffing, you're so cute! Could you help us?" Koffing glanced at the Grimer horde, and looked back to Katie. "If you can match the smell that this Muk gives off, you could lead these Grimers out of the area and out of the city. Would you?" Koffing hesitated, but nodded. It took a couple tries, but finally the gasses coming out of the small baby Pokemon matched the Muk's perfectly. The Grimers stopped moving in instantly, and the Muk roared in rage.
"Torchic, Poliwag, follow Koffing and make sure it stays safe." The other two followed her out. That left Katie and Azurill facing off with the Muk. "Alright, you and me." She said. Muk tried to fling toxic sludge at them. They dodged it, and Azurill attacked with Water Gun. That washed away a good portion of Muk's toxic sludge supply. Katie knew Muk wasn't really weak enough to be caught with a Pokeball, but it was enraged and distracted. She threw one, and watched as it shook violently before going still. "It... it worked!" She exclaimed. The smell nearly vanished in an instant. That was something she was going to have to endure, but she now had at least 3 shiny Pokemon of her very own!TL;DR Post 7 of clearing Grimers Backpack Key Items - Pokedex, Vs Seeker, Old Rod, Bicycle,
