He was again trying to listen through the crowds and the conversations that were going on around them, always being able to make out the words and conversations going on around him, trying to focus again on something that wasn’t lies and deception. He really couldn’t imagine what kind of person Matthew took him for if he really expected him to buy into the concept that there were all powerful beings that could do impossible things. He could guess that maybe it was funnier the younger the new trainer might be, a little kid might go completely insane trying to find one of these legendary Pokemon, and one day realize that they were chasing a lie, but Copper wasn’t going to buy into it just so he could be a part of some joke. Still rather bitter, and seething a bit on the inside, Copper was focused on the conversations around him that he almost didn’t hear Matthew whom was still walking beside him now, almost missing the utterance of his name. Looking to Matthew, he asked how long Copper had had Cassio around with him, and Copper almost had to stop at the question. Never mind that no one had ever really asked him that before, but he had never really thought about just how long that he and Cassio had been together, just knowing that he’d been around for the better part of his life.
”Oh… Uhm,” Copper stumbled at the question, acknowledging though that he had heard Matthew as he looked down to the dog at his side whom was padding along beside him on the ground.
”I don’t know? It’s kind of hard to remember. If I really think about it, he’s just always been here, but I know it wasn’t till I was a bit older that my parents gave him to me… So maybe nine or ten years,” Copper answered after a moment, really trying to think on just how long he had had Cassio around. It just always felt like he’d had Cassio his whole life, Cassio opened so many doors for him when he came into his life, he felt like he didn’t really start living until he had Cassio with him.
”I mean, at first he was just something my parents had to think really hard about, because you know, for a blind kid their parents think Pokemon are dangerous. Cassio is a trained and registered working class Jolteon, he was trained to be my seeing eye dog, but he’s become a lot more than that, ever since the first time I got to feel his fur,” Copper explained as he pat Cassio’s head beside him at his hip, and it was all true that Cassio had been trained and specifically chosen by his parents in order to be nothing more than guide dog for Copper, but they really hadn’t expected them to become so close to where Cassio became Copper’s only and closest friend.
”What about you? Is that, the uh small Pokemon you have, the only Pokemon you have with you,” Copper returned recalling that Matthew had said he was a new trainer, still unsure of what the Pokemon even was |

Matthew hears Copper stuttering a bit before turning and wonder what's wrong. Afterwards, though, he hears from Copper that his Jolteon, named Cassio, had been with him for nine to ten years to help him out with his blindness. "Wow... Your parents must have been really good to you back then." he says as he then hears Copper ask him about his Chimchar. "Oh. Yeah. I just got my Chimchar earlier today when I went to Professor Rowan's lab in Sandgem Town." he then briefly explains as he goes to pet his partner, who lets out a soft coo as he feels his trainer's hand rubbing his head.
Matthew smiles and then looks to Copper. "Today is actually my first time ever actually receiving a Pokemon." he then starts. "I've actually been trying for nine years to get one on this specific date since I was ten years old, but something always popped up that prevented me from getting one in the Unova region. For most of these years, it was stuff that I had to help my mother and siblings with around the house. At first, I didn't mind much of it because family did come first for me before anything else. However, as the years went by, I started to wonder if there would ever come a year where nobody was busy around the house and needed my help." he then says.
"Chimchar Chim?" Chimchar exclaims, shocked that it took Matthew nine years since he was first eligible to become a trainer to get his first starter. |

But that was just it, because they spent so much effort and time in making sure nothing happened to him, nothing ever did happen to him. He hardly had any friends, and barely even knew anything about his own region that he was from, his own city even. He didn't even know there was an amusement park in Nimbasa until he was well into his teen years. He could always hear something in the distance, something mechanical, then the music and shouts, but in his own city he didn't even know what was out there let alone the world. In just the months he had been out in the world by himself, he had learned more than he ever thought existed in the world, and while he would never say that he hated his parents or would never go back to them, he couldn't ever let go of everything that they made him miss out on, the fact that they never believed that he could really take care of himself.
"Good to me might be a strong term, you know home school is a lot of fun, but they took care of me since I was born with a disability," Copper admitted, though as Matthew went on about how he had only just left the professor's laboratory earlier that same day, Copper almost couldn't believe it. He was so confident already, and just had such a get things done attitude, Copper was horrified when he had left home and didn't know where he needed to go or what he needed to do...
"So you just visited the professor of this region, only just a few hours ago," Copper asked, kind of a little shocked.
"I mean, I guess I kind of thought you'd already been out for a little bit. Most people my age, or maybe our age, have already started traveling, you know? I'm sorry about your late start," Copper digressed, kind of feeling like he could relate to the feeling of feeling left out in the normality of things, of not being able to start what most did when they were much younger. |

"Eh. It's okay, Copper. It was only a matter of time before I actually could start my Pokemon journey anyways." Matthew replies as he then thinks for a bit. "Well, in all fairness, I guess I should apologize to you as well." he then says. "It must have been tough to have to leave your parents behind to go on a journey of your own. But I guess I can also say the same for several other hundreds of thousands of trainers that do decide to travel on their own for the first time." he then adds, looking down a bit. He then sighs and says, "So many parents to say goodbye to for all of these trainers... My only wish is that my mom were still alive so that I could say goodbye to her."
Meanwhile, Chimchar is trying to get over the shock of what he had heard from Matthew earlier. Nine years? That must be an awful long time to become a starter. But as Chimchar thought about Matthew's family and the chores that had to be done around the house, he couldn't help but think that maybe it was a good thing that he had to do all of those chores. After all, doing chores and helping out other family members could have given Matthew a sense of humility and responsibility of taking care of things, whether it be a house, a child, or a Pokemon. Chimchar then smiles until he hears Matthew talk about how he never had a chance to say goodbye to his mother before heading out on his journey. Immediately, his smile went straight to a frown, and tears started to form in his eyes. "Chim... Chimchar Chim..." he says to Matthew as he nuzzles up to him, expressing to him how sorry he was to hear something this tragic. |

Walking slowly through the city streets, talking with Matthew, Copper listened to him talk about starting his journey late too, and how saying goodbye to parents was tough for anyone he was sure. Copper thought about it then, remembering the note he left on his bed and how he snuck out of the house in the middle of the night. He didn’t say goodbye to his parents, not really, he knew they wouldn’t ever let him go no matter how much he thought he could make it out in the world. It was something he tried not to think about, but always knew was in the back of his mind. Were they expecting this? Did they know that he might get old enough to leave the house one day? Were they angry with him for leaving and disobeying their words against going out into the world on his own? Did they cry, and immediately start looking for him thinking that he couldn’t have gone far? Copper hadn’t been home, hadn’t had any contact with his parents at all since he had left, he didn’t know what they thought about him leaving in the way that he did, and he didn’t really want to know, at least not yet. But Matthew it seemed didn’t even get the same chance to say goodbye to his parents, at least his mother, and Copper felt just awful then. Here he was brooding about having to run away from home and thinking his life was rough since he couldn’t ever go home without risking Cassio getting taken away from him, but Matthew didn’t even have one of his parents to worry about any of that with.
”Oh… uh… I’m sorry about that… I’m sure it hasn’t been easy,” Copper said after a moment, really unsure of what he was supposed to say in the given situation. He hadn’t dealt with loss, wasn’t sure how to process it and certainly wasn’t socially adept to handle someone who was dealing with loss. He was so far from social norms that he was still even having trouble talking to someone about something as simple as what city they were in, he couldn’t fathom how he was supposed to talk to someone about the loss of a parent.
”So… Uh, this thing you keep calling Chimchar? What kind of Pokemon is it,” Copper asked after a few more moments then, trying to move the conversation along again so they could possibly get off the topic that he couldn’t know how to handle appropriately. He wasn’t trying to make light of the loss of Matthew’s mother, but how was he supposed to handle that conversation when they still barely knew each other?

"It's okay, Copper. I'll get over it eventually... I hope..." Matthew replies as tears start to form in his eyes. He then feels Chimchar nuzzling him and smiles a bit, even with a sad heart. At least he knew that his Pokemon would show him lots of affection during the journey, so his pain of losing his mother could be eased a little bit if anything. He then goes silent for a few moments as he continues to walk along the road with Copper, thinking about his parents. They must be really sad to see such a child as Copper go on his own. Did he beg to go? Did his parents allow him to leave their house? Is his Jolteon, Cassio, a reminder of them? So many questions flooded Matthew's mind that he almost didn't hear Copper's next question to him.
"Huh? My Chimchar?" he then says, looking up at Copper, wiping away his tears. "Oh... Well, Chimchar is a fire-type Pokemon. He's shaped like a monkey, except with a flame coming out of his tail. He also has, and no pun intended, a fiery fur-do." Matthew then says as he describes his partner to Copper in full detail. Chimchar nods as Matthew says this and hops onto Copper's shoulder, putting a hand to his neck and rubbing it so he'll have some idea what he feels like. |

There was little that Copper could say or do to talk Matthew through the small bout of feelings that were coming to him over losing his mother, and Copper hoped, just for both of their sake that it didn’t get too much worse than the catch he heard in his voice. Copper could hear better than most, better than anyone could expect, if he focused really hard he could even hear Matthew’s heartbeat just from standing beside him, but within the hustle and bustle of the city, that was a bit hard to discern. What he could hear though was the shallow breathing and the catch in his throat, and Copper wasn’t really ready for someone to start crying on him, he seriously didn’t know how he could effectively handle that situation. Luckily, it seemed that the small Pokemon that stuck around on his shoulder brought him out of the emotions that were taking him over, and Copper heaved a silent sigh as Matthew went on to talk about the Pokemon he had with him. Copper still couldn’t tell if he was referring to the Pokemon with Chimchar as a nickname or its species name, but he at least knew afterwards that it was a fire type, and that it was one of the starter Pokemon for the Sinnoh Region that they were in.
”Yeah, telling me that it looks like something else that I don’t know about doesn’t really do it for me,” Copper sighed, knowing that Matthew really was trying his best to help him understand what the Chimchar looked like. Copper could see his basic shape, short legs and longer arms, a small body and a rounded head, he could see some features on its face like its short rounded muzzle, but Copper didn’t know what a monkey was, or what else Matthew was talking about with its fur. Copper wasn’t expecting though for the fire type to cross shoulders and end up on his own shoulder, and it was then that Copper could feel its soft short fur and feel the warmth that it emanated from clearly being a fire type. He flinched at first, having only heard the movement not expecting anything to touch him, but his shoulders relaxed a bit, despite it being a fire type still.
”That’s cool that it’s a fire type, I know that works for some people. I can’t see fire, so I can’t really say I could effectively work with a fire type,” Copper spoke though, just a little uncomfortable with knowing that there was an open flame around him, being able to hear it so close to him, but he couldn’t see it at all.
”I chose the water type starter from Unova, I tried to get something mellow and something that I wouldn’t have to worry about with something like a fire type. I wasn’t expecting him to get so big though, I didn’t really know that things evolved like they do,” Copper explained, mentioning his own starter Pokemon that he had received from Professor Juniper a while back. Ostinato had since become one of his greatest companions, something that he couldn’t have fathomed happening as he had received him as a little Oshawott, but Copper was really quite fond of Ostinato despite how big he had gotten, and really did enjoy having the Samurott around.

Matthew, hearing that Copper had gotten an Oshawott from Professor Juniper, said, "Oh wow. That's quite amazing, Copper. I never would have figured that you'd go for an Oshawott, but hey, its final evolution is pretty cool." He smiles at Copper as he continues to walk alongside him. He then turns and looks to see a sign in the distance. "Huh? Hey, there's a sign over there." he says, pointing to it and heading over to see where he and Copper are going. Meanwhile, Chimchar continues to rub Copper's throat, then lowering his paw and going to his left shoulder. He then looks up and turns to Matthew as he hears about another sign from his trainer. "Chimchar?" he asks, basically asking what the sign is saying. He then hops off of Copper's shoulder and heads over to Matthew, who is now at the sign, to see where the pair of trainers are going. Welcome to Jubilife City, the city of joy.Heading south, Sandgem Town is a four mile walk.Heading west, Canalave City is about a seven mile walk.Heading north, Floaroma City is a six mile walk.Heading east, Oreburgh City is a five mile walk.
"Wow. Looks like this city is an intersection to a city that I had to travel by ship to get to the first time, the town where I got you, and two new cities that we've yet to explore, buddy." Matthew then says to Chimchar, picking him up and smiling at him. "Char! Char!" Chimchar cries happily, ready to go to wherever Matthew wants to travel to. |

He had had the option of a fire type he remembered in Unova, though he forgot what it was called, and there was a grass type too. He didn't want to train a fire type Pokemon, he just couldn't know what they were capable of since fire was so unpredictable and he couldn't see it, but Abban was both a fire type and a psychic type which was even more unexpected for him. He hadn't known him as a Fennekin to be a fire type since he bore no open flame, but now that he was fully evolved and had that power as a psychic type, Copper wasnt sure really how he felt about Abban as a companion. Matthew spoke though after a moment, tearing away Copper's thoughts from Abban, saying that he couldn't have imagined Copper chosing the water type starter from the Unova region?
"You say that like you know me? What do you mean I wouldn't have gone for Oshawott," Copper asekd, really very confused on what Matthew could have meant, but he and the Chimchar both rushed forward as Matthew caught sight of a sign.
"Oh good, a sign sure does me a lot of good," Copper spoke under his breath as he stopped with Cassio beside him, and while he couldn't even begin to know what the sign said, Matthew started talking about how there were other cities to travel to from here, so the sign must have been giving them directions of some kind.
"Well okay, where are we going then," Copper asked, wondering what city or town they could travel to next, or if Matthew was even really looking to travel on if he was wanting to stay in Jubilife for what ever reason. |

"Hmmm... With these cities that we can go to, it's kind of hard to pick where I want to go." Matthew says as he starts to think for a bit. Chimchar watches as Matthew thinks to himself, then looking at the sign and starting to think as well. Matthew then turns and says, "Well, there is so much of the city that we probably haven't explored yet. Why don't we stay here for a couple of hours and see what we can find?"
Chimchar then looks at Matthew, a little confused as to why he'd want to stay here for a bit longer. What could the two possibly have passed by that Matthew wants to see? And for that matter, could there be another reason why Matthew would want to stay in Jubilife City? These and a couple other thoughts come to Chimchar's mind as he then sees Matthew heading back to Copper before following him. |

He could assume, since it sounded like they were supposed to be more nocturnal, that the Zubat might have fallen asleep, especially needing to rest after taking it to the Pokemon Center, so it didn't seem too pertinent that they try and find somewhere to take it right this moment. Copper was wondering what other cities they were close to, and was rather pondering if he wanted to walk there or wanted Eco to fly him, though he still felt bad for making the Tropius fly so far from Kalos to Sinnoh over the last few days, so he decided against that. Matthew had been thinking things over, but Copper looked to him when he asked if they could stay in Jubilife City for a while longer. Copper couldn't say that he was exactly one for exploring, there wasn't a whole lot that sight seeing could do for him, but he really didn't have any immediate plans, he didn't have anything to do or anywhere pressing to go.
"Uh... Yeah, I guess. I mean, I don't really do a lot of exploring, but I don't have anything else to do," Copper replied, trying to contribute the best that he could to this whole traveling together with someone else concept.
"So lead the way I guess. Cassio and I will hang around until you're ready to go," Copper offered ready to follow Matthew back through the city. |

"Alrighty then." Matthew says as he then heads back into Jubilife City to explore more of it. Chimchar follows and hops on his shoulder as he continues to head into the city. He then turns and waits for Copper to come along before continuing along. As he walks through the city, he can't help but think to himself, "There's just so much more that I have to see, assuming that I haven't even began to see the majority of the sights that are there. Who knows? Maybe I'll even run into some wild Pokemon while I'm walking around." He then turns and looks at Chimchar, who is smiling at him. "Chim Chimchar." Chimchar then says to Matthew, saying that he's open to some exploration in the city before anything else. Matthew then smiles and nods to Chimchar as he continues to walk along.
During the time exploring the city, Matthew turns to Cassio and catches a glimpse of the Zubat sleeping under his chest. "Hmmm? Is that a Zubat?" he wonders as he continues watching. He then turns to Copper. "Hey, Copper?" he starts before asking, "Is that Zubat yours as well?" His curiosity starts to come out as he had never seen a Jolteon carrying a Zubat in his chest before. He then takes another look and sees that the Zubat is sleeping. "If that Zubat is your Pokemon, then what happened to it?" he adds to his question to Copper. |

Copper at least could take solace in knowing that they would have a direction to go in once they were ready to leave, or rather once Matthew was ready to leave, since Matthew had found that sign. It seemed that people in this city were rather happy with where they were, Copper hadn’t been able to hone in on too many conversations that regarded traveling and where the next city might be. Copper wasn’t sure really though if there would be much that staying in this city could offer him, he supposed he could try to continue to practice in his training and continue to get to know his Pokemon. There was still so much he didn’t know about his own Pokemon, but his thoughts were stopped at Matthew's voice, asking about the Zubat that clung to Cassio's harness. He must have seen the small blue Pokemon when Cassio was walking or stretching, hanging there from the fabric on the dog's chest.
"Oh, the Zubat," Copper replied, glancing down to Cassio before looking back to Matthew.
"No, it's not mine. My Fletchinder I guess disturbed it in a tree earlier today? It came out and attacked, and my Zorua fought it, but I had to take it to the Pokemon Center," Copper commented, though he still couldn't help but think about it being his...
"I want to take it somewhere, I guess they're not supposed to be in the city, but I don't know where a cave is, or somewhere where Zubat can normally be found. So it's staying around for now, just so I can find somewhere to take it," Copper continued, still really unsure of where he was supposed to take the bat when they might leave the city. |

"Oh. I see..." Matthew then replies after hearing Copper say that the Zubat isn't his. He then listens attentively to Copper as he hears about the little skirmish that happened earlier between him, his Pokemon, and the Zubat, and how Copper is trying to search for a place to get the Zubat to. "Hmmm... A cave huh?" he then says as he starts to think about where the two might be able to travel to a cave.
Chimchar hears Copper's story as well and starts to think as well. As his trainer and Copper continue to walk around, he starts thinking of possible places where there might be a cave. He immediately ruled the route to Sandgem Town out because that route was simply just a straight crossing from Sandgem into Jubilife. To the left of the city probably wouldn't be a good place to have a cave at because of the landscape. Plus, Chimchar thought that the city to the left could be a city out towards the ocean. That only left to the north and to the right of Jubilife City as having the best chance of having a cave. |

He did like the Pokemon though, even though he hadn't gotten to know it at all, he felt like he made an instant connection with it. It was so much like him, a blind Pokemon that used sound to see, and the sound waves it emitted gave Copper the clearest image of anything that he had ever seen. Of course though, Copper couldn't force the Pokemon to come with him if it didn't want to, and he didn't even know if it really understood much of what he was saying, so he decided to let it be for now as the Zubat slept under Cassio's harness.
"That's what the nurse at the Pokemon Center said, so I'm hoping soon that I might be able to find somewhere for it to go, or it might just fly away I guess when its done waiting," Copper answered, unsure of what might come of the Zubat going forward, but he at least wanted to try and give it its best chance.
The two walked for a bit longer through the city, and it didn't seem that Matthew had any particular interests in their immediate surroundings, and Copper had to wonder just why he had decided to stay in the city for a while longer.
"So, is there anything interesting here? Why did you want to stay in the city," Copper asked after a few moments, knowing that he didn't exactly have any immediate plans, but he didn't exactly feel like wasting his time meandering around a city for what seemed like no particular reason. |

"Well, for two reasons, really." Matthew says as he continues to walk around. He then starts to explain his reasons to Copper. "My first reason is that I want to see what kind of Pokemon come around here often." he starts explaining for his first reason. "I mean, with only my Chimchar, it's only inevitable that if we continue on to another city pretty quickly, eventually, there will be a time where we enter another city, there will be Pokemon tough enough to make me have to take him to a Pokecenter." Chimchar listens to Matthew's first reason and thinks about it for a bit. He then thinks that Matthew must be planning to train him pretty early against other Pokemon, as well as capturing some Pokemon along the way. He smiles and says, "Chimchar Chim Chimchar.", basically telling Matthew that that sounds like a pretty good strategy.
"Now, for my second reason as to why I want to stick around,..." he then starts to say for his second reason. "...there are some pretty cool buildings that I want to check out, one of those buildings being the TV station." he then says. Chimchar hears this from Matthew and starts to think to himself. It would be kind of cool to star in a TV show about some trainers on a trip throughout Sinnoh. Chimchar thinks about this idea for a bit as Matthew continues to walk around. |

All he knew was that there wasn't a gym in this city, and he needed to go somewhere else to challenge the first gym for this region, but he was trying to at least contribute to this whole traveling with another person thing and see what it was Matthew was wanting to do. He had gotten so used to Ridley knowing exactly where she wanted to go and more or less forcing him there that he didn't really know how to make his own path, so if Matthew had at least some idea of something to do, then he supposed he was game. Matthew went on to explain that he was wanting to see about challenging some wild Pokemon that might be in the area, and Copper could at least understand that. With only the one Pokemon, and while Copper didn't know how strong or not it was, it might be hard for him to challenge the first gym leader if they went that way. And if he was a new trainer like he'd said, then maybe he needed the practice too? It wasn't as easy as Copper might have thought to train Pokemon and battle wild Pokemon, he started out real rough, and still had trouble with each new Pokemon that he couldn't identify because he didn't know what it was.
"So you're wanting to train your Chimchar? That's a good idea I guess, getting in the practice, I mean not that I think you need it, but you said you're a new trainer so I don't know where you're at with experience really," Copper spoke, unsure where Matthew might be with any training experience whatsoever, so he didn't know how much practice, or not, Matthew needed or wanted to get. It seemed that that wasn't exactly the only reason he chose to stay in the city either, he went on about the television station that was supposed to be in the city somewhere, and Copper couldn't help but roll his eyes at the mention.
"Ah, television, my old foe," he remarked, having never once been able to do much with a television at all except for listen to it.
"Yeah, if you find the television station like you want, you can go on ahead and catch up later. TV doesn't really do it for me, so that's all you," he replied, not wanting to take away from Matthew's small ambition of making a visit if he wanted to, but Copper didn't really want to take a part in something he had no practicalities with. |

Matthew, hearing that Copper is not really a big fan of TV, then turns to him, a bit surprised. "Oh. I'm sorry. I wasn't aware that you weren't into TV." he says, then trying to think of any other buildings in particular that might catch Copper's eye. As he turns and looks around, he sees a couple of buildings such as a schoolhouse and a building that is used for trading Pokemon. "Hmmm... I don't think any of these buildings are going to seem interesting to Copper..." he thinks to himself as he looks back at Copper for a second before looking forward again.
"You know what? Just... forget the whole building thing. I don't think any one of them would be worth much to you anyways, Copper." he then says, turning back to Copper again and giving up a bit on the building idea that he had, figuring that Copper might not want to go to any one of them. He then starts to walk through the city some more as he starts to make pace back to the sign that he had been to a short while ago. "Well, hopefully, there is an opportunity for me to train Chimchar. Either that, or I could always catch another Pokemon so that I have some added Pokepower for when things get rough later on." he thinks to himself as he looks at Chimchar, who seems to be indifferent with him going back. |

Even though Copper wasn't interested in television, and in fact didn't care for it much at all because he couldn't enjoy it didn't mean that others couldn't, and he shouldn't take that away from Matthew if he was really wanting to go to some of these buildings in the city.
"Just because they're not an interest to me, doesn't mean they aren't to you," Copper sighed.
"We can go where ever, really, and you can train your Chimchar if you want, lets just go do something," Copper tried to encourage, trying to give Matthew something to do and go for while they were still in the city. |

Hearing Copper say this, Matthew smiles a bit. "Okay then." he says as he then veers back a bit and continues exploring. As the small pair of trainer continue to walk around the city, they run into a wild Abra. "An Abra, huh?" Matthew said as he pulled out his Pokedex to learn a bit about this Pokemon."Abra, the Psi Pokemon. Abra sleeps for eighteen hours a day. However, it can sense the presence of foes even while it is sleeping. In such situations, this Pokemon immediately teleports to safety."Matthew then takes a look at the Abra. "Hmmm... It teleports, huh? Well, I won't let it get away so easily." he says as he then turns to Chimchar. "Ready to battle, Chimchar?" he asks him. Immediately, Chimchar smiles, eager to begin his first Pokemon battle. "Chimchar! Chimchar!" he cheers as he then hops off of Matthew's shoulder and lands on the ground, ready to take on Abra.
"Okay, Chimchar. Let's start things off with Scratch!" Matthew then says to Chimchar. Chimchar nods and immediately charges at the Abra, striking it with Scratch, scratching it and knocking it out. "A... Abra..." the wild Abra says as it faints.
Matthew sees the wild Abra fainting and smiles. "Wow. That's pretty neat, Chimchar." he says to him as he sees Chimchar heading back to him. He then bends down and pets his head, causing Chimchar to let out a small coo and smile. |

He had digressed at least though and mentioned that Matthew really could go where ever he wanted, it didn't matter if Copper was up for it or not, he shouldn't take that into consideration, and Matthew offered a short reply. In the middle of the walk way though, Matthew caught sight of a Pokemon before Copper did and took out his Pokedex, and Copper looked to see the odd shape of a triangle looking head, and maybe a long tail, and pointed hands and feet, making for an over all peculiar Pokemon that he had never seen before. The Pokedex even said something about teleporting, that this Abra it called it moved itself to safety when threatened, but Copper didn't really know what the device could be talking about since he'd never heard of teleportation before. In a matter of moments though, Matthew let the Chimchar go forward and attack to intiate a battle, and it seemed to not take much effort to cause the Pokemon to turn in defeat.

"Hey, Copper, the next Pokemon we run into, I'll let you take it on. Is that a fair deal?" he says to him. He smiles at him, knowing that sooner or later, Copper might want an opportunity to battle some of the wild Pokemon that will pop up. |

Copper only glanced at Matthew at his insinuation of taking on the next wild Pokemon that they might happen across, and he wasn't exactly sure what for. He didn't really know that he wanted to train his Pokemon at the moment, but it couldn't hurt he supposed if he was wanting to challenge the gyms in this region. He knew that some of his Pokemon like Maestoso and Stretto were strong and probably well trained, at least as far as he knew, but some of his other Pokemon that he might not have had as long, like Bravur or Vivace might not be as trained.
"Yeah, okay, sure," Copper commented, knowing that he wasn't really wanting to work Cassio at all for any battles, but he knew a loud little fox of a Pokemon always loved to shoot his mouth and throw his lack of weight around. Copper took out a Pokeball and released Bravur again after having returned him back at the Pokemon Center, and the small Zorua looked up at Copper, then to the other human that was very clearly not the same human he had seen just a little bit ago.
"What gives? What happened to disc man," the Zorua asked aloud, giving a side eye to Matthew whom was not the trainer he had seen earlier.
"Don't worry about it Bravur, this is Matthew," Copper answered with a small groan, knowing that the Zorua just never let anything go.
"Yeah, okay, I don't think it matters, right? He probably won't be around for long either," the dark type dismissed, starting to walk around and look at the new part of the city that they were in as Copper rolled his eyes and hung his head back at the Zorua's mouthy behavior.
"Ignore him. He just likes to run his mouth," Copper spoke to Matthew, not wanting him to really pay much mind to the Zorua and what he'd said at all, or what he would say going forward since the fox never really did start talking. It seemed that he became occupied though for the time being as he encountered a small, rather stubby shaped Pokemon that gave a small whistle of a noise as it engaged in battle, but Bravur rushed forward with an attack, knocking the round little Pokemon away to end the battle. Matthew, after hearing the Zorua talking and hearing Copper say not to pay too much mind to him, says, "Yeah... Okay... I'm just a bit more intrigued by one of two things, but I don't know which: The fact that that Zorua can talk, or the assumption he made that we won't be staying together for very long." He then looks at Chimchar, hoping that he might have an answer. However, Chimchar just shrugs his shoulders, not really sure what to think about what just happened. "Ah well... Well, we know that that Zorua is most likely wrong about how long we'll be traveling together..." Matthew then says, then looking to see Copper getting ahead. He then walks a bit faster than usual to catch up to him.
A little bit later, Matthew sees a Kricketot in the near distance and looks to Copper, smiling at him and nodding his head to him. He then hears a cry from the wild Pokemon as it turns out, the Zorua had already attacked and managed to defeat the Pokemon with ease. "Pretty neat, little Zorua." he cheers, giving Bravur a bit of encouragement, though to be honest, it might not have done much. |

Copper looked to Matthew though that seemed just as perplexed about Bravur as Copper had been when he had first encountered the dark type in Unova. Though Matthew seemed just as equally concerned that Bravur could talk, and the fact that the fox seemed to think that they wouldn't be traveling together for very long.
"I said not to mind him much, really. He talks a lot, but you don't have to listen to him," Copper tried to explain, trying to save some face, but Bravur heard with his keen ears as he padded back towards the two trainers.
"I can talk, what of it? I'm just stronger and smarter than most Pokemon because I can talk and they can't," Bravur commented, glancing at Cassio, though the Jolteon only offered a growl and a set of sparks that danced over his fur as he looked back at the younger Pokemon.
"Bravur, really, it's not the time for your attitude," Copper groaned.
"It's not my fault I like to tell the truth and you don't," the Zorua retorted back, looking up to Matthew at his comment, finding him to already be naive and optimistic.
"Look, I don't know what Copper has or hasn't told you, but he doesn't keep friends, so don't think you're going to be buddies forever, okay," Bravur spoke blatantly, having been with Copper for a while now, and he had been with some humans here and their in traveling, but they never stuck around, and he wasn't ever sure it was because Copper left or they couldn't stand Copper any more, but no one ever stayed around.
"Hey, Bravur, we're not here to talk about my personal life like you know me so well," Copper chided, raising his voice as he looked down at the dark type with sharp eyes. |
