It wasn't necessarily something that they needed to know, but it was made aparent by the small fire type reagardless of that necessity, and Ostinato had to take a moment to think things over. He knew there were other humans with other disabilities, but he hadn't quite met that many, especially since Copper didn't do that much interacting with others or going out of his way to meet them.
"This is good I think, Copper needs to meet someone who shares a similar life," the otter smiled after a moment, knowing that it was important for Copper to know that he was not alone in the world, and there were others who struggled just like him that others just didn't understand.
"This human seems to have his hands full with how rambunctious his Pokemon are. They look young," Acceso observed, looking out to the group of smaller Pokemon that wandered around the area now, staying somewhat close to the human that had come towards them.
"I'm sure they have an understanding of their human though, we were all young when Copper found us," Ostinato spoke, hopeful at least that the Pokemon were understanding of their trainer's specific and unique needs. He knew that Copper had Cassio for well and above any time that he had been traveling with them, but just as the dog did his part and job in watching after Copper, Ostinato had taken much of that responsibility on for himself since he had gotten stronger too.
Standing there with Cassio beside him and Calla flitting through the air, Copper was actually rather shocked that what the sprite had said was true by any means as he heard what had to have been Julian's voice coming through his thoughts. He was close enough and it was loud enough in the area that he couldn't see Julian's mouth moving, so that really did mean that they would be able to communicate with each other, all thanks to her. He greeted them both, introducing himself and his Torkoal to him and Matthew, and digressed about the lack of sign language that either of them knew. He mentioned about psychic type Pokemon though, and Copper glanced at Calla who's figure remained in the air beside him, and he wondered if something like that was supposed to be common knowledge? That psychic type Pokemon held such great power, he certainly hadn't known until Abban had evolved and the fox started talking to him. He asked if they were leaving however, and Copper had made a motion to say something, but it seemed that Matthew had a sort of understanding for what it meant for someone who was blind to meet someone who was deaf.
"Yeah uh, I don't think we were getting ready to leave? Matthew was training here, and I was just um... Well I wasn't really doing anything except trying to take stock of a few things," Copper answered, but he offered a small smile to Matthew at his encouragement on the conversation as a thanks.
"This is Cassio, my seeing eye dog. Is one of your pokemon trained as a guide to help you when you need it," Copper asked, curious as to which of the figures he could see wandering around the area might be the one most similar to Cassio and his position. He had so many more questions, he wanted to know what it was like for someone who was deaf to go out into the world, what his training experiences were like, but he didn't want to overwhelm Julian at all. |

Meanwhile, back at their picnic, Kabuto was finishing his meal when a small creature popped out of nowhere inches away from his face. He let out an insectile screech as he lashed out while simultaneously backing away from whatever that creature was. That panicked slashing of his claw had been enough to send the Abra to the grass, unconscious. Julian, of course, did not experience any inclination that something had happened, but Kabuto poked the creature before backing away slightly, expecting it to animate and do some more crazy stuff he did not like. Nothing happened though. TL;DR

Matthew then smiled as he heard that Julian was in Oreburgh City not too long ago. "Wow. That's so cool! You must have had quite a fun time in Oreburgh." He then listened for a bit more as he then heard the trainer ask him and Copper if they are going for the gym badges in Sinnoh. He then spoke up, saying, "Well, I'm looking to get the gym badges in this region. From there, I'm thinking a bit about either challenging the Sinnoh League or heading out to another region to see what other Pokemon lie out there. Me and my Pokemon." He then rubbed Chimchar and Kricketot's heads, getting them to smile and let out their happy Pokemon cries. The two then nuzzled their trainer's head, causing him to smile.
Shortly afterwards, Matthew looked to see both Julian's Umbreon and Espeon walking over to his sides and smiled, then looking back up at Julian and saying, "That's really cool. You must appreciate your Pokemon a whole lot then if they're willing to help out." He then rubbed his shoulder and added in, "I'm sorry if psychic communication is the only way we can talk, but it is pretty nice to get to know you a bit, Julian." |

He felt like it had been such a long time that he was able to really just forget about things and not let anything drag him down, but meeting Julian, meeting someone like him, it was kind of comforting. If there was someone else out there who had trouble with the world around them just like he did, but was still able to make strides in becoming a trainer or just being out in the world in general, it was actually kind of encouraging and there was so much that he wanted to know about how Julian's travels had gone up to this point. He made mention of Oreburgh City, and Copper was a bit surprised to hear that Julian had already been, in fact he already had two badges from the Sinnoh Region they were in. He didn't know what a Pidgeot was as Julian made mention, but then he asked about their own gym challenges. Matthew was ever quick to respond, and Copper smiled in kind at his tenacity and big goals.
"I think Matthew has more going for him than I do when it comes to gym badges. I don't know much of anything about this 'Sinnoh League', but I'm thinking it's not for me, so it's all yours Matthew," Copper mentioned.
"I do have a few badges, there's what, eight in each region right? So I have... six from Unova, but that's as far as I got, I don't exactly plan on going back to get the other two," he explained, taking a moment to count out on his fingers the badges that he had from Unova, and he could recall maybe having one or two from other regions, but nothing exciting otherwise, he didn't really feel it being worth the mention.
"But Matthew seems to have a real knack for this training stuff, so he'll probably be up there with you and some badges here soon," Copper commented, complimenting Matthew as he turned to him slightly.
At his question though in regards to any trained service Pokemon that Julian might have, he answered about an Espeon and an Umbreon that he had with him, and while Copper had of course never heard of the Pokemon before, he watched as two figures moved up towards Julian. They were both small, nothing like Ostinato or Ace, stood on four legs, and had slimmer body structures. One had a long thin tail, the other not so much, but they both had long pointed ears that stood from their heads. They sounded very capable of being service aides in how Julian spoke about their strong points, and Copper smiled.
"I'm not familiar with their species, but they sound like they make perfect guide Pokemon for someone who is hearing impaired. That's really cool," Copper commented, and in turn Julian regarded Cassio about what it was he did for Copper in being his guide Pokemon. Copper wasn't very good at being able to discern facial features or expressions, the smaller or more fine the detail was, it was near to impossible for him to catch on to, but despite that, he took Julian's question genuinely as he looked down to his own Pokemon beside him.
"Yeah, that's the gist of it I guess, but he's trained for a lot more. He wears a bell on his collar so I always know where he is, and he helps me pick out my clothes every day so I actually kind of match what I'm wearing and don't put anything on the wrong way. He can read too, just a little bit, and with his needles he helps me write out in braile when I need to, the list goes on," he returned, always and forever proud of what Cassio was capable of and thankful for everything that he did.
"I mean, as long as there's noise of some kind, I almost never run into a building or a wall, so that's also why he wears his bell, but there's only so far that seeing without seeing can take me," he back tracked, though that did raise another question for him.
"So you don't have hearing aides that help you? Were you born deaf," he asked then, hoping that he wasn't being too pushy, but he always felt it was better when someone of a similar situation asked those kinds of questions as opposed to someone who genuinely would never understand. |

He listened to what the others had to say about their Gym history. So Copper had already gotten quite a few badges along his journey, but he claimed the kid was even better than him. That was interesting. 'I've earned...' he hesitated, tallying them in his head. 'eleven so far, but I'm just getting started.' He'd been coming up with the idea recently... the only way to truly prove his worth as a Trainer and set himself apart from all others despite his disability was to earn all of the badges.
'Of course, they are both such great help to me. Actually, Umbreon and Espeon both evolve from the same Pokemon as your Cassio - Eevee.' He smiled a bit. That meant their guide Pokemon were all three an Eevee at one point. Then Copper asked just about his least favorite question in the world. He did not reply at first, trying to think of how exactly to respond to the other Trainer. 'Well, I was born deaf... my Dad told me that it took them a while to figure it out, but I was taught from an early age how to read, write, and sign, then from there how to read lips. My Dad trains my Pokemon to respond to nonverbal cues and also how to fight for themselves without needing orders.'
He looked to Matthew. 'That's why it's okay for you not to speak through the psychic link. I can see what you're saying from your lips... you just have to make sure I'm looking when you are talking'. He grinned. 'Otherwise you might as well be talking to a brick wall.'

It was fun for the first little bit, traveling through Unova as fast as he could during that race so he could just get out and never look back, it was kind of exhilarating earning the badges and battling and getting the hang of things, but that was all in the beginning. He was naive then, and hopeful, and thought that if he just tried really hard he could make something out of it, but there was still so much that he didn't know, it was starting to all become more and more discouraging. Every new gym held new Pokemon that he knew nothing about, new types that he didn't knew existed, it was impossible to know how to defend against each different species of Pokemon, and some trainers had their entire lives worth of studying and learning to know these things. Talking with Julian now, he didn't even know that Cassio had 'evolutions', or that there were others that were similar to his species like the two Pokemon Julian had, and he had known Cassio for the better part of his life growing up.
"Oh, really? I uh... I didn't know that... That's really neat to know," Copper acknowledged in a slightly discouraged, almost defeated tone, it seemed all this was doing was just confirming his thoughts that he just wasn't going to amount to much despite his want to do so. Even as Julian answered about being born deaf, it seemed that his upbringing was much less constricting than his own. His parents were willing to train Pokemon for him to help him and battle for him as he traveled? He had to beg his parents relentlessly to have just one Pokemon, let alone go out and experience others that might have been around Nimbasa City... They might both have disabilities, and it was good to know that Julian was making things work despite his, but Copper just wasn't up to snuff, and he didn't feel like he ever would be now that he was talking with Julian.
"That's nice that your parents are involved in what you're doing. It sounds like you'll be able to go far with your training, that must be really exciting to know," he replied with a half hearted smile, and he couldn't exactly discern what it was that was making him feel so misplaced, jealousy, bitterness, a lack of support, there were too many things it seemed that were stacked up against him, he couldn't possibly set out to accomplish anything that Julian had made sound so easy. |

Julian could tell by a combination of the other boy's demeaner and their psychic connection that he was not in a happy place right now, but he couldn't figure out what he'd said or done and didn't want to push his luck with the link. So he settled on something simple to keep the conversation going. "It's okay.. you know there's not a lot of Trainers out there who know a whole lot about this. Most of them go in blindly. I just spent years studying because I hated my life the way it was. I was sick to death of everyone coddling me, walking on eggshells around me, acting like I was going to break. My Mother was completely against me leaving, and they actually fought about it before I was allowed to set out on my own journey to prove I could do it, to shut up everyone who ever doubted me. You'll be able to do it too, I know you can." He gave a smile, even though he knew it wouldn't be seen. Perhaps it was just instinct, but he wanted to reassure Copper. "Plus we can be friends. He was naive when he first started, felt like he could accomplish anything that he set his mind to, but after his experiences at that ball they had been invited to, being introduced to so many ideas and concepts that he couldn't have even fathomed in his wildest darkest nightmares, it made him question everything including his own integrity. If he hadn't gone out to that island, he might have been just fine now and not had to harbor so much hesitation and inexperience that he felt weighed down by all of the questions he didn't have answers to, but what was done was done, and he couldn't change anything now. Julian was trying to be encouraging, Copper knew he meant well in what he was trying to say, but it really only made him feel like Julian had just as much equal opportunity as anyone else, just the same as someone who wasn't inhibited by a disability. He had accomplished more despite the similarities that he and Copper shared, so what did that really say for Copper's capabilities as a trainer and the convoluted idea that he could actually make it on his own?
"Thanks, I appreciate it... It's good to have help and support, that means a lot," Copper replied with a half hearted smile, glancing down for a moment to Cassio whom stood beside him.
"So uh, you said you were traveling through Sinnoh, where are you going next," Copper asked then to change the topic, looking to Julian who had said he was traveling and was actually getting ready to leave Sinnoh before he stopped in Jubilife. Copper had in fact traveled all over the world to participate in that race that took place, but there could be many places still that he hadn't visited and didn't know about, or might not even remember since he couldn't recall many of the places he had been to, including Jubilife City. |

Don't you cry no more Julian wasn't quite so sure where the conversation had gone so wrong. He let an awkward silence stretch on for a while as he tried to think of what he wanted to do next. He'd been going from Region to Region, having fun beating the easier Gyms one after another. Doing so had made him feel good at the time, but now he felt slightly ashamed of himself. The novelty of the easy victory had worn off some time during their conversation - and he realized that it was nothing more than a poor excuse for a coping mechanism to deal with his loss and cowardice. "Honestly? I don't know." He admitted. "I was supposed to meet up with a friend - I kinda like her, you see - but she's travelling with another guy now." He sighed and checked on his Pokemon with a glance. "Besides, I ran away from my eighth Gym Battle because I knew I couldn't beat the Gym Leader. I set out to prove myself and I'm nothing but a failure." Why he was venting and confessing all of this to a near-stranger was beyond him, but doing so did make him feel slightly better. And who knows, maybe Copper would be able to give him some advice.

He had enjoyed the small conversation, getting to know a bit about what it was like for someone who was deaf to be traveling and what kind of ways he used to be able to function and move along on his own, but the longer Copper did get to talking to him, the more forlorn and left out he felt. There was still so little that Copper knew about the world and the creatures that he shared the world with, he didn't have opportunity to learn much about anything before he decided to leave home to strive for a better, more normal life, but it seemed that that was the root of the problem, he just wasn't prepared. He should have known that this wasn't something he could just thrust himself into and hope for the best, he couldn't have fathomed that it would take studying and intel and help even to try and make it in the world of Pokemon and being a trainer, and that in itself seemed now to be his biggest flaw and what was holding him back the most. He was inexperienced and ill informed and was struggling with the fact that he couldn't even hold on to his Pokemon and make them feel like a part of the team since Abban had felt it necessary to leave, and Copper wasn't quite sure what he was supposed to do with so many conflicting feelings all at once. Julian had since left after a goodbye, Copper knew that they might cross paths again or get back in contact with each other, and he was hopeful for that, but now he was left to his own devices again, with Matthew in tow, and Copper glanced at the male's figure as his Pokemon stood with him.
"Hey, sorry about that, it really isn't too often that I meet people who uh... Who are kind of like me you know," Copper apologized briefly with a small sort of smile.
"You were training though right? I didn't mean to interrupt, if you were still working on things with your Pokemon," he mentioned though, trying to move things along, if maybe only in an attempt to move himself on some kind of track to start slowly sorting through his thoughts. |

He had met Julian earlier that day, and while he was always happy to meet someone who could share in his lack of functionality to some degree, it seemed that the trainer Julian already had so much going for him that Copper didn't, and on some level that was a bit discouraging for him. Matthew was new and starry eyed and had so much potential to look forward to, and that was why Copper ended up saying goodbye to him too that day as the new trainer was eager to get out into the world. Copper had only met him for a short while and hadn't expected that they would be traveling for too long, whether it be that he himself might have found some path to follow or that the new trainer Matthew wanted to go off and see things for himself the first time, Copper wasn't going to stop him and was happy that he was going to get to experience things for himself. That left Copper though in the middle of the park in Jubilife City still however, wondering what his next course of action was going to be. He was still in the region with the intent of challenging the gyms, so maybe he just needed to get back on track and follow the path to Oreburgh where he knew the region's first gym leader was located.
He had returned Ret and Ace to their Pokeballs which left him with Cassio on his harness, and Ostinato and Calla out in the open, looking around now in a sort of lost sense as to what he was going to do next.
"Today was a nice day, we met a lot of new people. Isn't it good that we came to this region," Calla smiled, chipper as always as she flitted around in the air looking at Copper, still happy that she was able to bring him to her home region. There were a lot of things and places that she wanted to show him and take him to, but she knew that things were going to take time for him, especially in the state that he was in. She just wished that she could help more, with what he was feeling and going through, but he just still wouldn't let her in to know too much more than what's on the surface, not like he trusted and looked towards Cassio and Ostinato.
"It was good, yeah I guess to meet some new people. I mean, that was kind of the point of coming out here and leaving Kalos, if I remember why I came out here in the first place," he sighed, though tried to muster some semblance of a smile for his few Pokemon. Ostinato moved forward with a breath that brushed through Copper's hair, and he raised a hand to pat at Ostinato's blue fur on his neck.
"Come on guys, let's get going. I think that next gym is east of here. Maybe that'll give us something to go for in this new region, it's been a while since we've done a battle," he suggested as he started to walk through the park with Cassio beside him, ever vigilant and ready for them to lead the way towards this new city. |

Salac (Sweet +3, Sour +3, Bitter +1) x6 Walking through the park in Jubilife City, Copper had little other direction to go than east towards the city that had this region’s first gym, he just didn’t have an idea on what he wanted to do still. There were still so many daunting things in the world, and he only kept realizing how little he knew about Pokemon, but he didn’t know how to get the right tools and materials to learn about all of the different phenomena that went on with the Pokemon of the world. It was confusing and distressing, and frankly made him question the integrity of his wandering life now. He walked with Ostinato and Cassio, Calla flitting in the air beside him, and he started trying to get into the mindset of a gym battle while walking along the sidewalk. He didn’t know what kind of type of gym he was going to come up against, but if he heard of it soon enough he would be able to figure it out, though as he was trying to focus on his own thoughts, he couldn’t help but overhear a conversation that he was passing by in the near distance that had caught his attention.
”I don’t feel like I know enough to go travel like you do though.”
”Hey, you’re my little brother, I’ll help you out.”
”But I want to do it on my own, like you did.”
”Well you know, I got help too. Professor Rowan helped me out in the beginning. I became a researcher for him and learned everything I know now.”
That was all Copper needed to hear before he finally got a sense of direction for himself, stopping in the direction that he was heading before looking down to Cassio and up to Ostinato beside him who both looked at him with a bit of confusion.
”Calla, where is Professor Rowan,” Copper asked then, looking to the sprite who flitted around at the sound of her name.
”I don’t know too much about other humans, but I have heard of him before. He is here in the Sinnoh Region, I think he’s what is called a Pokemon Professor,” the Azelf spoke then in a chipper tone, already just being able to feel the sense of interest and confidence emanating from Copper.
”The Pokemon Professor? I remember over hearing in Sandgem Town that that is where the laboratory is. We’re not that far off,” he mentioned then, thinking to himself as he held Cassio’s leash.
”I think that’s what I need, if I become a researcher, I’ll learn from a Pokemon Professor. I’ll be able to learn what I haven’t been able to for so long,” Copper determined. Who better to teach him the things that he missed out on in his early life than a professor who spent their entire lives working on and researching things about the Pokemon world? He couldn’t believe he had never thought of the idea before, it was almost perfect.
”Come on, let’s go to Sandgem Town and try to find him. Maybe he’ll be able to help me and we can finally start traveling again,” Copper confirmed, patting Ostinato on his broad neck as the otter looked down to him, a sense of relief filling both himself and Cassio at the notion that Copper was actually sounding pretty interested and invested in this idea. They didn’t hesitate as Copper started off in the other direction now, moving back towards Sandgem Town in order to meet the Professor of the region. |

Elfana Aroway During the walk to Jubilife City, Pantalaimon had fallen asleep in her arms. All of the excitement earlier in the day had worn the sweet Turtwig out. He slept straight through all of the noise of the city, only whining and nuzzling his trainer when they passed a particularly loud Trainer on their phone. Elfana pitied the poor person on the other end of the call. Since she intended to stay in Jubilife for at least a day so she could find what she needed to modify her Pokedex, locating somewhere she could stay overnight felt like it would be in her best interest. She would need a quiet place to work anyway. Her first stop was a hotel. It wasn't anything fancy but it was clean and would be comfortable for the one night she planned to be there. Once she was in her room she set her things down on the bed and set Pantalaimon down by the pillows. Walter and Kiro both made themselves comfortable on the bed near Pantalaimon. The Alakazam had started reading through a book that he had retrieved from Elfana's bag while the Croagunk was playing with a small gem he had located at some point during their trip. Something felt off about it but he had no idea what it was. Elfana began taking inventory of her things, trying to determine if there was anything else she would need to pick up while she was out. She had neglected to pack any sort of clothing for colder areas- not that she thought that she would need any for a while- so picking something up just in case would probably be in her best interest. The materials she would need for her project obviously made the list. Those took priority over basic necessities like clothing or any supplies she would need for traveling.
While Pantalaimon slept she went to work taking apart her Pokedex. She needed a basic idea of how it functioned if she intended to improve it. So long as her alterations were minor she should be able to avoid being accused of tampering with the device. The registration and connection to the league would both be left alone so technically she wouldn't be doing anything wrong. Were the device to her standards it wouldn't require further work to begin with. She took a notebook out of her bag, writing down things she would need as she progressed through her examination of the Pokedex. By the time she had completed her task and put the Pokedex back together Pantalaimon had finally woken up from his nap. She gave him a few minutes to wake up fully before retrieving her purse and heading for the door with her Pokemon following close behind her. If they wanted to get through her shopping list and make it back to the hotel at a reasonable time then heading out sooner than later was necessary. Partners:

Elfana Aroway Their first stop, due to Walter's insistence, was for food. Elfana hadn't bothered to eat in well over a day and he was concerned she would forget again if not reminded. Despite his best efforts she ended up mindlessly sipping at the tea she had ordered while she debated what she wanted to do with her Pokedex instead of actually eating. At least she had been willing to sit outside. Sunlight and fresh air would do her some good. He had to remind her multiple times to at least try to eat the simple sandwich she had ordered. Each attempt at reminding her to eat was met with her taking a small bite before becoming lost in her thoughts again. Kiro and Pantalaimon required no convincing to eat their meals, though the Turtwig seemed to be having some trouble eating the apple that had come with his. He had convinced himself that it was supposed to be eaten in one bite. He couldn't quite get his mouth around it to accomplish this and ended up knocking the fruit off of the table in his last attempt. The Croagunk sighed and hopped down to retrieve the apple for him. It had rolled a little ways away and had caught the attention of an opportunistic Bidoof. Before the wild Pokemon could bite into the apple its face was covered in poisonous glob that had been spat at it by the Croagunk. He croaked, retrieved the apple, and hopped back up on to the table with Pantalaimon. "Small bites, baby." Elfana muttered as she took the apple from Kiro and began cutting it up for Pantalaimon after cleaning it off with her napkin and peeling it. She rubbed Kiro's head after the Turtwig was distracted by his apple slices. "Thank you." He croaked in response before returning his attention to his own food.
Elfana did eventually eat her entire sandwich. Walter refused to let her continue on to their next stop until she did. She fully intended to get what she needed for the Pokedex next but was redirected once again by the Alakazam. The Pokedex worked fine. Playing with her new toy wasn't a priority. She needed more clothes and basic supplies first. Elle, of course, pouted but didn't argue with him. As much as she hated to admit it, he was right about it not being a priority. They were wandering around a region that was entirely new to them. She needed to be prepared. That didn't mean she was happy about it. Shopping was painfully dull as it was. Having to shop for a bunch of things she really couldn't care less about when she could be looking for things for her Pokedex made it so much worse.Kiro (Lv. 11 Croagunk) vs Lv. 6 Bidoof (HP 40/40)

Elfana Aroway Elfana had intended to work on her Pokedex as soon as she got back to her hotel room but unfortunately her Alakazam, once again, felt it necessary to remind her that working on the Pokedex was not a priority. She had new clothes and a mess of other items that needed to be stored away before she did anything else. This meant reorganizing her things. Her ability to function like a normal human being was lacking- the workaholic doctor liked to behave more like a machine when left to her own devices- but that mean she couldn't attempt to focus on basic human tasks for a few minutes. Her projects would still be there after she had repacked her things and showered. At least she had Pantalaimon to provide her with a distraction. The Turtwig was doing his best to help her fold her clothes and put them in her bag before the poor dear ended up getting himself tangled up in a scarf she bought while she was out. The twig on the top of his head ended up poking through part of it. He appeared to be having fun despite his predicament, rolling around on the bed until he had cocooned himself in the fabric. A hole in her new scarf was acceptable. She wasn't at all bothered by it since her Turtwig was having fun. When she finally freed him from the mess of fabric, she examined the damage and shrugged. "I think the hole was an improvement." She patted her Turtwig on the head before tossing her scarf in her bag. When she was finally done with everything she went to take a shower, leaving her Pokemon to entertain themselves for a while. Walter kept himself busy by reading to Pantalaimon. The Turtwig was absorbed in the story almost immediately. Kiro, meanwhile, was toying with a strange device they had happened upon in the store. He assumed it was supposed to track something but it didn't respond after it had been turned on. He figured it was broken and tossed it into Elle's bag with a soft croak. She could fix it later.
When Elfana returned she was clean and had changed into a simple black nightgown. She didn't plan on leaving her room again until morning so she figured she might as well make herself comfortable. She settled in at the table in the corner of the room. All of her "important" tasks had been completed. Now she could work as she pleased. Her planned modifications to her Pokedex kept her busy well into the early hours of the morning. Her Pokemon had long since fallen asleep by the time she was done. She didn't want to risk waking them by laying down on the bed with them so after she turned off the lights she sat back down at the table. She removed her glasses before resting her head on her arms and closing her eyes. First thing in the morning she was going to see how well her newly modified Pokedex held up against her Mareep. For now she would try to get some rest.Partners:

Elfana Aroway Elle awoke to find herself covered in a blanket that she had, fortunately, packed towards the top of her bag. At some point during the night her Alakazam had woken up and covered her. She lifted her head up off her arms, rubbing her eyes before putting her glasses on. Her Pokemon were still asleep. As usual she was the last to fall asleep and the first to wake up. Sleeping had always been difficult for her. She got up and folded up the small blanket, repacking it and the few extra things she had sitting on the table. After her Pokemon woke up she they would head out. She didn't have to wait long. By the time she changed her clothes the first of her Pokemon had woken up. Kiro sat up, stretching his arms above his head and croaking sleepily at his Trainer. "Good morning." She whispered in response, raising her index finger to her lips to gesture for silence. The other two were still asleep. He hopped down from the bed, making his way over to the chair Elfana had been sleeping in previously and sitting there instead. Not long after the Alakazam woke up as well. Walter adjusted the blanket over the Turtwig after getting out of bed. Pantalaimon nestled into the blanket, unaware of the activity in the room. A pair of legendary Pokemon could get into a fight above the city and the Turtwig would sleep through it. "Did you two sleep well?" She asked both of her Pokemon. The Croagunk croaked again while Walter nodded in response. Elfana knelt down when the Alakazam began digging through their things until he located her hairbrush. Being in a different region didn't mean their morning routine would change. Every morning he did his best to brush out her hair and style it for her. The results were almost always messy due to the state of his hands but she would never correct it. This part of her routine was the entire reason she kept her hair at the length it was. Today was a good day. He managed to mostly brush her hair out without her help and he successfully pulled it back into a ponytail. She stood and took the brush from him, patting his head before putting the brush away. "Thank you~" She looked at the mirror above the dresser and smiled. "It looks great."
Pantalaimon was still fast asleep thirty minutes later when she decided to let Luxanna out of her Pokeball. She set the Pokedex on the floor in front of her. "Build up a charge then try touching it." She set down on the bed, watching the Mareep as she let the static build up before pressing her nose against the device. The charge was released into the Pokedex. She backed up and sat down, watching it curiously. Elfana retrieved the Pokedex and opened it. She smiled when it responded to her immediately. She held it up, letting it list off the information it had on Mareep for her. "Perfect! Thank you for your assistance, Luxana." The Mareep responded with a quiet "Mareep~" in response. She was glad whatever the doctor was trying to do had worked out. Pantalaimon finally crawled to the edge of the bed and pressed his nose against Elfana's leg. He yawned, smiling sleepily when she picked him up. Now that he was awake it was time for them to leave. Knowing Luxanna would not be interested in walking, she returned the Mareep to her Pokeball before grabbing her things. The little group made their way downstairs to check out of the hotel after she had confirmed she wasn't forgetting anything important.Partners:

Elfana Aroway Elfana exited the hotel with Pantalaimon still in her arms and Walter and Kiro on either side of her. After checking out she had taken a moment to look at her phone and determine their route. Their next stop was Oreburgh Gate. Her chances of finding a Zubat in the small cave path were decent so she might end up having to spend a while there. She was fine with this though. Zubats were adorable so they were well worth the effort. She couldn't help but smile a bit. Bat Pokemon were some of the doctor's favorites. While they weren't quite as high up on the list as fish were, they still held a special place in her heart. "We're going into a cave. I know it's a small path but I want all of you to stay close to me anyway." She instructed her Pokemon while they walked along the sidewalk in the direction of Oreburgh Gate. She might be a bit overprotective where her Pokemon were concerned. Caves could be dangerous. Her concerns felt like they were reasonable. Pantalaimon smiled up at her and patted her arm. "Turtwig!" He couldn't wander away from her since she was carrying him! Why would he want to be separated from him Trainer anyway? They couldn't be on adventure together if they weren't together! She chuckled softly and petted his shell. "Fair enough." He let out an excited squeal and nuzzled her chest, convinced once more that she could understand him. She had no idea what her Turtwig was saying but she could guess and go from there. The edge of the city came into view sooner than she was expecting. When it came into view, for the briefest of moments, her nerves from the previous day returned. She felt like she was out of her league. She should be at home in her lab- not traveling around Sinnoh. Elfana took a deep breath and held it for several seconds before letting it out. Kana had a reason for sending her here and she was going to find out what it was. All she had to do was get through a few Gyms...That wasn't so bad, right? Once she had calmed down, she hugged her Turtwig and nodded to herself. She would be fine. She had to repeat this to herself a couple more times as she exited the city.Partners:

Cypress chuckled as she picked up a napkin and began to wipe his face off so it didn't get sticky. It didn't take long for he group to finish their food soon after. Cypress had been quite a bit hungrier then she thought. But her food really hit the spot. Once they were finished she paid and they began off on their way again. They made pretty good time as they navigated through the city and into the outskirts. Kira shook her head, thanking the Nurse but informing her that she would not be staying overnight. Of course the Nurse recognized her. She had been here with her Pokemon in order to earn the City's gym badge. However, the Nurse could have no way of knowing that Kira now had an entirely different set of Pokemon with her. The dragons would find a place outside to wait for her. Now only Flygon and Noivern were in the sky. They were not going to be hampered by a long journey, which they knew was coming up soon. Elfana Aroway Elfana was going to end up having to go back through Jubilife City multiple times so she didn't go out of her way to do anything beyond visiting the Pokemon Center. By the time she had returned from Canalave City, she would be able to stop for lunch then continue on to Floaroma Town. She stopped in at the Pokemon Center, offering the nurse her booklet while she double checked her route on her phone. "I really need to get a Pokemon that can fly." She grumbled then sighed. Elfana Aroway Her second trip through Jubilife City was a bit more eventful, if only because she went out of her way to find a restaurant with an outdoor space large enough to fit her Steelix. She ended up spending much longer than she had planned to but she succeeded in her goal. The majority of her team was able to fit at one of the tables. Her Steelix, on the other hand, was doing his best to curl up behind her chair so he could feel like he was out of everyone's way. There was still plenty of room around him. Her Pokemon were allowed to order whatever they wanted. As per usual, both she and Haruka ordered next to nothing for themselves and had to be reminded to actually eat. Aside from that, lunch was a pleasant experience. Antarcticite seemed happy with all of the treats he had been offered, which was all she had really wanted in the end. After they were done with their meal, she paid and returned the majority of her team to their Pokeballs. They had one last town to visit before they were done backtracking through Jubilife City. Elfana Aroway Elfana had originally planned to find some things to do on her third trip through Jubilife City but couldn't find the motivation to actually search anything up. If she happened to stumble upon anything on the walk towards the next town on her list, she would stop there. If not then she would go straight on through. She decided to dedicate the remainder of her time in Jubilife City to talking to the Rufflet on her shoulder. Letting it touch her was progress but that progress didn't matter if she didn't know anything about her new Pokemon. Walter acted as her translator. Oryx was reluctant to speak at first because he was still convinced he would be thrown off her shoulder if he accidentally startled her somehow but eventually was willing to offer up short answers to her questions. At least until he was sure she wasn't going to react poorly. Then the Flying Type was willing to hold an actual conversation with her. As much as Elfana hated to admit it, she was enjoying getting to know her new bird a bit better. Having an understanding of the Pokemon would make it that much harder for her to fear it- even after he had evolved. Sinnoh
