Llorona BraithwaiteWatching the clerk ring up item after item, Llorona's eyes followed each one as it was placed into a bag. The sooner she got cleaned up and changed the sooner she could start her 'adventure' the right way. After producing several different credit cards from her bag - She quickly handed him her personal favorite with a smile. "Charge it all." She stated sweetly until the clerk shook his head. At that point she took to staring at the card in a very confused manner, plucking it from the cashier and flipping it over a few times. This was definitely the right card. "Run it again? The machine might not be working?" She shrugged absently, watching yet another failed swipe while her face became flush. It would have been pretty obvious to anyone else in her situation, but Llorona refused to accept the logic of reality, handing the poor male card after card. With every failed swipe her face seemed to grow more and more red... It was clear that the man who had been helping her was enjoying this bit of humiliation as well, causing her to hiss audibly and return any hint of a smirk he wore back into the same frightened expression he had been wearing while helping her find a suitable surfboard. "Mother I swear to the gods above..." Her face was nearly blood colored by the time that Cyren returned, causing her to jump a bit and force a very fake giggle. "Oh, you know. It's fine! RIGHT?" She snapped at the man who promptly nodded in agreement. How could the woman expect her to survive in a completely foreign land without any money!? She leaned across the counter and began to scoop all of the now useless plastic back into her bag - biting her lip in embarrassment. She could not let Cyren see her like this, it was completely unacceptable! So she continued to dig through her bag for nearly five minutes as if the amount of time would actually help her any. In the end, the woman groaned, resorting herself to a combination of fates worse than humiliation. "Here, charge everything but the board onto this card. I don't need it." Her mother could take her credit cards away but the special account she had set up for doing things she didn't want the family to know about certainly still had some of her personal money on it. Not enough for everything, but enough that she could attempt to come out of this with some sort of dignity intact. When the cashier shot daggers into her for the hell he had just been put through, Llorona shrugged, a shy, half-apologetic smile gracing her features. "What? I have the right to change my mind up until I pay for something, don't I?" While the man did not agree, he did swipe the card, a wave of partial relief coming over her as a receipt printed. One that she quickly took and began to examine quietly. If she was going to be relying on her own money for a while there was a good chance she would need to start counting pennies. Deadeye didn't hesitate when Cyren offered his shoulder, hopping up and giving the little puffballs on his hat another shake before chirping happily. Venus seemed to ignore his comment regarding her chosen attire entirely. The Rowlet could live with this he supposed - after all, she had liked it enough to let Cyren get it for her. When they approached his trainer he could practically smell her panic even when nothing really appeared to be wrong. They were not under attack or in any physical danger so... "I think my trainer is broken." He chittered absently to no one in particular, waiting for whatever would need to pass for them to leave the store and hopefully head to the beach. Cyren Braithwaite Apparently Llorona's attempt to pay for things was going about as well as he expected them to. He watched his sister's struggle, refusing to comment on any of it in case he ended up upsetting her further. Cyren only spoke after she managed to pay for her clothing. He would cover the surfboard for her. The employee had been put through was too much to just put the thing away. "I'll cover the board. We're sorry for the trouble." He offered the cashier his card, waiting patiently for him to run it through the scanner and return it to him. After everything was paid for he picked up the surfboard and the rest of Llorona's things, taking a moment to thank the cashier for the assistance before leading Llorona and their Pokemon out of the store. "Honestly, I'm not surprised. Mom was bound to do something like this eventually." He commented once they were outside, referencing the fact that their mother had decided Llorona would have to pay her own way through the region. At least he had enough money saved up to keep them covered for a while. "Do you want to drop this stuff off at the hotel then head to the beach?" He asked, trying to distract her from the incident in the store. The less time they spent dwelling on it, the better. Spending too much time on it would only stress Llorona out further.
Rhea and Venus stared up at Llorona and their trainer, trying to figure out what exactly had upset her so much. Humans were strange. There hadn't been a battle and no wild Pokemon were attacking so they didn't see a reason for her to be so upset. After giving it a few seconds of thought, Rhea set her egg down on the ground. Maybe Deadeye winning the game would help cheer the female human up! "Deadeye, you win! Do you think that'll make her feel better?" The Litten meowed up at him before picking the egg up again. The egg was no longer ticking but she saw no reason to leave it behind. Their game had been fun! They could always play it again later. Whenever they got to where they were going next she was going to try to convince her trainer to put it in his bag for her so she wouldn't have to carry it anymore. Her mouth was starting to get sore. She needed a break from carrying it.SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 24/25 Wild Encounter: 24/5 Item Posting: Vs. Llorona BraithwaiteFor the very briefest of seconds, Llorona actually thought she had managed to fool anyone. Why she thought this was a complete mystery, but up until Cyren handed the cashier his own card - the woman had actually managed to restore some sort of composure. "Cy!" She half whined at her brother, leaning back and putting some of what little weight she had into a shove that went about as well as expected given Cyren's massive size. The very last thing she had wanted was for him to buy her anything! This was a chore for him as things stood, not to mention she had sort of volunteered to pay for anything they wanted in the store already. Llorona began to rub her temples as they exited the building in frustration. She was supposed to be in charge of today, and more than that, she was supposed to be mad at him. "I don't know why you did that, not like I'm going to be using it after today." The woman muttered to her brother, not recognizing that she was being ungrateful in the least. When Cyren mentioned his 'prediction, she narrowed her eyes on him and pursed her lips in a pout. "Not surprised? Did she tell you she was gonna do this to me? And don't you dare lie Cyren Braithwaite!" She snapped with an accusing finger pointed his way. Even whilst attempting to scold the human boulder that was her brother, Llorona was still fixated on their next destination. If she was going to be upset, embarrassed, scared, and humiliated all in one day - there was absolutely no reason not to take it out on the waves. Then again... "You are the one carrying it, not me. If you think it'll tire you out then we can head back and drop it off. Otherwise, I'm not gonna use the clothes I bought until after the beach anyway. So it's up to you Cy..." She trailed off, admiring the board he carried with a fun thought. Ironically, when he held it, it looked a lot less huge than it was, even in comparison to the cashier who had been larger than Llorona. If she wasn't careful this thing would end up easily escaping her. Deadeye watched with more confusion than anything while the transaction took place - his human trainer attempting to physically harm Cyren with all of the effectiveness of a magikarp splashing against a mountain. The Rowlet was amazed she had survived in this world so long without him. When Rhea suddenly spoke, Deadeye turned his attention her way only to drop his egg in shock, his beak wide open. "Why would you do that?! I thought you wanted to win!" He asked, squawking awkwardly when he realized he had already received his answer and adding - "Your guess is as good as mine. I don't think anything makes her feel better." If there was something that made Llorona happy, Deadeye had yet to find it, scooping his own egg up when the Litten did and fluttering over behind Llorona so that he could drop it into her bag. He didn't exactly enjoy winning by default - but with any luck, he could always convince Rhea to give him a real rematch later on! Cyren Braithwaite "She didn't tell me but I assumed she was going to end up doing something strange eventually." Which was a very safe assumption to make considering how strange their mother was. This was one of the least aggressive things she could have done to ensure that Llorona would do exactly what she wanted. "So...We're probably being watched and now she's cut off your funds. Any idea what she's going to do next?" Cyren sounded almost playful. To him trying to figure out what new insanity their mother would come up with for them to deal with was a game. If he continued to assume she was going to do something else then he would be better prepared when something actually happened. For now though, they were supposed to be heading to the beach. "Straight for the beach it is then." A distraction would do them both some good. Llorona would have a chance to surf as much as she wanted and he could work with his Rockruff. They could spend the rest of the day hanging out in the city and then tomorrow they could decide if they wanted to try their luck at the Gym. Llorona was already doing better with her Pokemon than she had been previously. She had made enough progress that he felt that letting her go through the first Gym would be okay. He started off in the direction of the beach, Venus following right along behind him while Rhea stopped to meow up at Deadeye. She couldn't decide if she wanted to walk beside her trainer or her Rowlet friend. After giving it some thought she decided to wait for Deadeye. She had been following Cyren around for most of the day anyway. Deadeye needed attention too!
"Your trainer is strange." She commented, her voice muffled by the egg she was holding in her mouth. She really needed to talk her trainer into storing the thing away for her. The Litten stretched herself out and purred happily. They were going to the beach! She couldn't wait to feel the sand under her paws. She could run around and play with the other Pokemon all she wanted! Well...she could play with some of them anyway. The Ledyba didn't seem to want anything to do with the others and the Rockruff was really mean. Yami just seemed...off. Something was very weird about the Kabuto but she couldn't figure out what it was! "I'm gonna ask Yami if he's okay I think. He acts really weird, doesn't he?" Maybe the skittering around and panicking was normal for Kabuto. It looked so weird though!SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 25/25 Wild Encounter: 25/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 1/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona Braithwaite"...You are so lucky that your assumption makes too much sense to ignore." She honestly would have believed him either way. Their mother wasn't just strange, she was vindictive and stubborn as a Numel. And that was the nicest way one could put it! Llonora cringed at his next comment, jumping up beside him in an attempt to place her hand over his mouth. "Please - don't say that. I've got enough problems to deal with as it is." Cyren was not wrong though. The moment she had discovered her little intervention, the woman had known that there would be more to it than just skipping around and knocking a few heads with her Pokemon. No, things with her mother were never that simple. She followed alongside her brother quietly, her sandals slapping the pavement in a slow rhythm while she turned her attention to the topic he had brought up. There was a good chance that she would have them watched, sure, but in the dark-haired woman's mind - that would hardly be the end of it. She was certain that eventually someone from the company would be dispatched to check up on them in person, in addition to whatever obstacles she deemed fit to put in their way. "Hey Cy, do you ever surf at all?" She asked for the sake of creating any topic of conversation that might distract from their devious overseer. With his size and build it was entirely probable that he did lots of things outdoors, and if they happened to share a hobby Llorona reasoned that would be as good a start as any to getting any type of actual communication from the male. He was as dull as she remembered, but something had to excite him - everyone had something. She just needed to find out what. "I wish she was more like your trainer." Deadeye stated blatantly, looking between the two humans a few times. They were so different in contrast that it was scary. Once he'd caught up with Rhea, the owl did what he always liked - circling above Rhea protectively as they walked. It was fun to do so with anybody, but with Rhea it was even more so. The fire type was really cute with her new bow! "Did you want me to help you put that egg away?" He called out, open and closing his small talons a few times to demonstrate. If the game was over he saw absolutely no reason for the Litten to continue carrying the egg - her mouth must have been sore since his beak still felt strange even now that it was free to close. As they drew closer to the beach - Deadeye fluttered to a stop, squawking happily from above when he saw the vast ocean stretch out before him. It was beautiful! "We made it to the beach!" He cried triumphantly, landing beside the Litten and beginning to preen himself while also adding with a mouthful of feathers - "The little one? He is kinda skittish... But I think he has a problem seeing? Your trainer seemed to think so." The ever observant owl recalled Yami's battle from earlier and Cyren's specific instructions not to bother aiming... Cyren was a wise trainer for just getting his starter a few days ago. The Litten really was a lucky cat. Cyren Braithwaite "I did when I was younger but I haven't tried it in a long time." Not since before his accident if he remembered correctly. His body had needed time to get back in working order. After he had he just hadn't had the time to get back out and try surfing again. Perhaps he could give it a try while they were at the beach. It could be fun. Of course he planned on working with his Rockruff a bit first. He didn't want the Rock Type to be stuck in his Pokeball the entire time they were at the beach. As soon as his feet met the sand he released the rest of his team from their Pokeballs. Yami, of course, latched on to him immediately. The Kabuto didn't know where they were and he didn't care. He was going to stay attached to his trainer, which was the most stable thing in his immediate area. He stared up at Cyren as the male picked him up and let him grip on to his arm, holding it at still had he could for the unfortunate Kabuto. "You should let your team out for a bit. It would be a good opportunity for them to stretch their legs." He was sure their Pokemon would have fun playing on the beach while they were there. Why not let them out to enjoy the day as well?
"Please~" Rhea meowed at Deadeye, setting her egg on the ground for him to pick up. Her mouth needed a break from carrying the egg around. When Deadeye landed beside her she began to purr, rubbing her head against him lightly and gently booping one of the bits that dangled from his hat with her paw. She made it a point to make sure not to damage it at all, keeping her claws retracted so she didn't risk accidentally catching one of them on it. She really liked the hat on him and she didn't want to hurt it any. "Once we get the eggs put away we can go play!" Her ears twitched a bit when she heard the rest of her trainer's team being let out of their Pokeballs as well. The Kabuto in question panicked immediately. She felt bad for the poor thing. "Do you think we could talk him into playing with us?" Spending their time at the beach stuck to their trainer wouldn't be any fun! He needed to play too! The moody Ledyba was out of her Pokeball as well but she didn't seem interested in anything beyond watching the ocean for the moment. Then there was...Rhea winced and hid behind Deadeye. The Rockruff was out and while he seemed much calmer than he had before she still wasn't going to take any chances with him. She was going to avoid the Rock puppy as much as she possibly could.SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 26/25 Wild Encounter: 26/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 2/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona Braithwaite"Really?!" She exclaimed in a much too cheerful tone. Llorona had hoped, not expected, Cyren to actually have been into her favorite water-based sport at all. She clasped her hands together at the thought of the large male on a surfboard, her troubles very temporarily forgotten while she tried to imagine him riding a wave. When she finally felt sand slip around her sandals and between her toes, the girl was less than modest about their change of scenery, removing the footwear quickly and tossing it into a pile with her bag. At that point, the woman was on full alert for any of the small changing booths or shower rooms nearby - a lack of them causing her to sigh and shrug. "I need to find a place to change! Screw it, I got this!" She did not have this. Slipping her undergarments out from beneath her dress, the woman had no issues replacing her panties with the swimsuit bottom she'd brought from home...The top was an entirely different beast to deal with, however. Looking around frantically for a solution to her problem - Llorona pulled a small towel from her bag and offered it to Cyren. Sure there were changing booths somewhere along the beach but they had been walking all day already. She wanted to get into the water as soon as she possibly could! "Okay, okay - I'll let them out but I need a little help." Tossing each of her Pokeballs with near reckless abandon, she couldn't be bothered to greet her small friends just yet. She still needed to get changed first. Llorona pulled the straps of her dress down along her shoulders, careful not to let the clothing slip away from her as she turned her back to Cyren and shook herself impatiently. "Just hold the towel around in front of me so I can get this top on. Then I promise I will hang out with the little guys for a few minutes before I surf, that's what you want right? Bonding with my Pokemon or whatever?" If giving them a few head pats got her into the ocean and onto that beautiful board sooner rather than later, she would gladly play around with her partner's for Cyren's sake. Deadeye wasted no time scooping up the offered egg. He was happy to help Rhea in any way he could, especially with the way she treated him all the time! When she started to play with his hat he chirped happily a few times, giving the hat a nice shake for the feline to chase around with her paws or eyes. Whatever she decided was fine by him! "I know, I can't wait! The breeze here is so warm and fun! Just lemme put the egg away and-" The Rowlet cut himself off for a moment when Cyren released his Pokemon. The poor Kabuto might not have been completely blind, but there was definitely something wrong with his eyes. "I think we should try. Maybe if he knows he has some friends like him he will calm down a little?" He offered, Turning his head on backward so that he could stare at Rhea when she cowered behind him. "Are you okay? Don't worry, the puppy might have been mean before but I am sure he is better now. He has a good trainer, remember?" Unlike Rhea, Deadeye was fairly confident that the Rockruff wouldn't be too much of a problem... But just in case, he flared his wings out and released about as menacing a screech as a Rowlet could manage. If the Rockruff tried to hurt Rhea again he would protect her no matter what! Cyren Braithwaite "Really. I'm going to work with this Rockruff a bit but I wouldn't be opposed to getting in the water later. It would be fun." The zeal Llorona felt towards the ocean was kind of impressive. Genuine excitement was a nice change from her usual sarcastic or annoyed behavior. The region might yet win her over if the ocean decided to be kind to her today. He just wished she would take the time to find a booth to change in. She was lucky there didn't appear to be anyone in their immediate area. He held the towel up as he was asked, muttering a quiet apology to his Kabuto for moving his arm so suddenly. The poor Pokemon was gripping him so tightly that it was almost uncomfortable. He looked away from Llorona, focusing his attention on his Pokemon instead. Venus was keeping a close eye on the Rockruff for him while he was busy but it seemed entirely unnecessary. He appeared to have calmed down since their last encounter...or that was what he had thought right up until the Rock Type barked angrily at Deadeye. "None of that. There's no need to fight with each other right now." He scolded both Deadeye and the Rockruff, who growled in response but still sat down where he was. While he was clearly still irritated with Deadeye, the Rockruff seemed willing enough to avoid a fight for now.
The Litten meowed, moving just a bit closer to Deadeye when he screeched. He was really brave for screeching at the Rockruff like that! After her trainer scolded both of them the Rockruff appeared to lose interest. She moved out from behind the Rowlet, pressing her little nose against his cheek, giving him a mock kiss to thank him for "scaring" the meanie Rock Type away. "You are the bravest Rowlet!" She purred, nuzzling him before gently nudging him forward. "Come on! Let's go play!" Knowing that Deadeye could keep the Rockruff away had helped her relax. She ran off into the sand, stopping just long enough to meow up to Yami. "Do you want to come play too? The sand feels nice!" The distressed noise she received in response was disappointing but it didn't surprise her any. He probably needed time to adjust to being out of his Pokeball. She could ask him again later! The Litten ran straight for the water, stopping right on the edge of it. She lifted her paw, tentatively touching it. When it didn't appear hostile she stuck her entire paw in and meowed excitedly. She wouldn't try swimming just yet but the water still felt nice!SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 27/25 Wild Encounter: 27/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 3/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona Braithwaite "Rockruff. His name kinda say it all huh?" She commented absently, allowing her dress to slip off and into the sand. Replacing the top now that she wasn't overburdened by the access clothing proved to be a snap. With a devious smirk she almost considered asking Cyren to tie the strings a long the back of the bathing suit top for her but... Llorona suspected he wasn't in the mood for her games. He seemed much too distracted for such a beautiful day on the beach. Still, once she had managed to adjust her new attire, Llorona turned to face him and leaned back against the towel he held a little at a time in case he decided to let her fall, stretching herself out and grinning. "So? What do you think Cy? This thing was outrageously expensive- it's my favorite one!" She asked curiously, motioning down along the thin, black material with a near gold trim. The moment she had seen this two-piece in her home town, she knew she had to have it! Of course, Cyren was already focused on his Pokemon, leaving the woman to huff and roll her eyes. Even if he wasn't going to pay her any attention she would still attempt to have some sort of fun. With a toothy grin she began to bounce her weight against the towel, repeating in much the same cutsie tone as she had possessed when she was small. "Cyren!! Notice me!!"
"It's nothing! I have.. tee-ipe advantage. You know.. dogs eat cats, cats eat birds.. so birds eat dogs right? " DeadEye more asked than told the litten, blushing while he began to sing when she touched him with her nose. Rhea was already his favorite but she was somehow becoming more likeable every day! As the Rockruff simmered down, DeadEye cringed at Cyren's command which he sort of figured included him too, letting the Litten push him along. The others Llorona released seemed to be hanging out behind her, watching the bizzare but fun looking display as she bounced off of the towel her brother held playfully. Pebbles and stumpy had already accepted their new landscape and both were half buried in the sand, the rattata was chasing it's tail in tight circles, and... the new pokemon he had yet to see stood facing away from everyone. It seemed to be very intently watching the ocean. Perhaps it liked the water like Llorona did? "Yami, you don't have to be scared... we are at the beach, come down and hang out?" The rowlet should have known better after the response even Rhea had gotten but... she had wanted Yami to play so he had to try too! "Oh well.. maybe later?" He offered, choosing to walk despite how difficult it was in the sand. Once he reached the water however, in spite of his good feeling, the Rowlet squawked, the ocean water washing over his feet and causing him to shoot skyward. "Nope! It feels so weird!!" Cyren Braithwaite "I suppose it does." Cyren's attention remained on the Pokemon at first. He was trying to make sure they were all at least partially behaving. For the most part things seemed to be going fine. He was so distracted that be didn't look back at Llorona until she had started bouncing herself against the towel. "It's very cute." He smiled, making sure she knew he had heard her despite his attention being elsewhere. Yami began to loudly protest on his arm. Every time she decided to bounce herself against the towel it shook the skittish Kabuto ever so slightly. While it wasn't much, it was more than enough to bother him. He retaliated in the only way he could in his current position- he bit the thing closest to him. Cyren winced when the Kabuto bit him, his grip on the towel slipping. He just managed to grab Llorona before she could fall, holding his much smaller sibling against himself until he was sure she was steady. "Day two and I've already managed to be bitten by one of my Pokemon." He shrugged, surprisingly calm about the whole thing. Removing his hoodie without disturbing the Kabuto further was a difficult process but he managed it, bundling it up beneath the Pokemon and setting it in the sand to it could rest somewhere still. "Oh well. No harm done." Once the Kabuto had settled down and he could better see what she was wearing since the bouncing at stopped he took a moment to look her outfit over. "Black and gold looks good on you." He commented with a slight grin, patting his sibling's head gently. "Also- you've been noticed."
"Grass is strong against Rock. Fire is weak against it." While the Rowlet was correct about having the Type advantage, his understanding of it was off enough the Venus felt it necessary to correct him. In a weird way he was part of the team too. The two humans were siblings and working together to get through the region. The Machop believed that this made them one big team. She wanted to try to help him learn. She wandered out in the water just enough to get her feet wet but didn't bother to go further just yet. "Are there a lot of Types?" Rhea was curious and seemed fully intent on pursuing the conversation further...right up until she saw Deadeye fly up away from the water. She began running in little circles beneath him, splashing through the water. "Are you okay?!" He had flown up so suddenly that she was convinced he was hurt. She couldn't reach him from the ground though! The Litten sat back and meowed up at him, hoping he would land soon so she could check him over for injuries. "Maybe water is bad for Grass Types!" She shuddered at the thought. Her friend could have gotten hurt because they hadn't know about the water! "He's strong against Water Types. He just doesn't care for the water." Venus corrected the Litten but she was much too concerned about Deadeye to listen.SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 28/25 Wild Encounter: 28/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 4/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona Braithwaite"It's cute? That's the best you got?!" She teased him, knowing that her attempts to be upset with her brother were failing against the wonders of the beach. Beginning to rather enjoy the small bouncing effect she had against the fabric - Llorona enjoyed it so much so that the woman continued to repeatedly throw herself against it with a slightly increased zeal right up to the point that Cyren was bitten by his Kabuto! All at once Llorona's world became more than a little vertical, her head snapping back as she actually managed to have a singular thought - 'Damn that sky is pretty.' Of course, she expected to fall, that was what typically happened when one tossed themselves backward at the wrong time, right? But Cyren turned out to be much faster than his peaceful deposition and large frame suggested... Much faster. "Cra- oh?" Before she could even finish her statement the woman found herself both still standing and huddled up against Cyren's form. She blinked a few times in a clearly confused manner in spite of what had happened being obvious. "I'm so sorry! I didn't know he was going to do that!" It was not often that the youth could be coaxed into giving an actual, heartfelt apology, in fact, had she the time to really consider what had happened, Llorona would have been quick to blame Yami for it. But in her haste, she had spoken before her nature could get the better of her. She glanced up at Cyren and stepped away a moment later, quick to inspect the bite he had received from his pokemon the moment his hoodie was removed. A frown came over the woman while she took his arm in her hands and began to turn it over curiously. "Are you sure you are okay...?" Asking him was probably going to get her as far as his facial expression did in measuring how much the bite had actually hurt. The man was a wall both physically and emotionally. Still, even with what had happened he managed to force a near embarrassing amount of pink to flood her cheeks, the girl rolling her eyes when she patted his head. She had been completely sarcastic in her earlier remarks but would have been lying to herself for the second time that day if she didn't find both his compliment and actions to be flattering. Llorona had no intention of sharing this information with Cyren however - she was still supposed to be mad at him! "When did you become such a smarty pants?" He called down from the safety of the warm breezes provided by the ocean. The machop definitely seemed to know what he was talking about - after all, he had easily defeated the rock type Bonsly and the Roggenrola - the latter of which had proven itself as being very strong for his trainer already. But that didn't mean he liked sounding stupid! "Oh-oh! I know this one. There are a bunch of types of Pokemon! Grass... water... Fire...Electric.." Deadeye trailed off, not even understanding why he had tried to begin with. He was well aware of several other types like flying Pokemon, bug types, and ice types - But he didn't know them all. When Rhea called up to him the Rowlet nodded a few times bravely. He wasn't afraid of the water, it just felt weird! Venus brought up his distaste of the ocean, causing Deadeye to swoop down and land on the damp sand, his feet sort of bouncing up and down while he tried in vain to enjoy it. "Grass types need water and sunlight! I just never played in the ocean is all. I'll come swim in a second!" Why he was putting himself to such lengths to prove that he could play in the water was completely beyond the Rowlet... But if Rhea was playing in it, he would too! That is what friends did. Cyren Braithwaite He glanced at his arm has she inspected it, noting a small wound. While not deep, it still bled a bit, though it was nowhere near enough to worry him. His hoodie had taken more damage than he had. "Any sudden movements bother him. I might try to find something to cover his eyes with. That should help him relax." Though it would also leave the poor Pokemon unable to see at all. Considering how much trouble his eye were giving him it would be for the best. "Like I said though, no harm done." He smiled, retrieving the surfboard that had been left resting in the sand and offering it to her. "You've got a new board to test out. I'll be right on the shore." As soon as she decided to go in the water he would clean up the bite a bit. He didn't think he needed to bandage it or anything like that. After he cleaned the blood off of it he was sure he would be able to just leave it alone. Once the surfboard had been handed off to Llorona, Cyren decided to take a moment to remove his shirt and shoes. He didn't need to change like Llorona but that didn't mean he felt like getting the entirety of his outfit wet. After his phone and shirt were stored away in his bag he retrieved his hoodie and Kabuto from the sand, careful not to move the poor Pokemon more than necessary. He was going to try to find a comfortable spot near the water to set him down so he could enjoy their time at the beach as well. "I'm going to find a spot for him. Maybe something right on the edge of the water. I think he might like that. Try to be careful out in the water." Cyren made his way over to the small group of their Pokemon that had gathered by the water then, setting Yami down right in the water near them. "Can you guys keep an eye on him? If the water starts to bother him he might need help getting back to the sand."
"Knowing what Types you're effective against can be helpful. Less of a chance of picking a fight with the wrong Pokemon." Venus shrugged, watching as Yami was set down near them. The Kabuto appeared ready to panic again until he felt the water against his shell. He relaxed then, staring off at nothing as the water splashed over him. "You got it." She raised her hand to wave at her trainer to show she understood, pausing when she noticed how Rhea was staring at him. Since she was standing out in the water she couldn't see what it was that had the Litten so distressed. "Humans aren't supposed to have scary marks like that, right?" Rhea asked as she walked around behind Cyren to get a better look at his back. It looked like it hurt a lot! She mewled at the thought that her trainer might be in pain. Humans were not supposed to look so damaged!SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 29/25 Wild Encounter: 29/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 5/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona Braithwaite "Yeah, I notice that now... I just thought he was a bit skittish, I'm sorry." Being now two apologies deep and possibly setting a record for the entire year, Llorona frowned at the wound he had received. It didn't look all that bad on him at all but given his size, it was still considerable from her standpoint. The woman considered digging into her bag for any article of random attire she might be able to give him to tear up and use to stop the small bleeding. It was the least she could do right? Yet Cyren switched his focus to Yami immediately, causing Llorona to only sigh. If he didn't want to draw any attention to something he deemed small then she would not argue. Plus if it got infected later and he got sick she would get to tend to him! 'Stupid brain! Why is that a thing?' She thought to herself, cringing and deciding that the ocean was suddenly very interesting up until he tried to hand her the surfboard. "Alright Cy, when you finish with your pokemon you come show me what you've got, okay?" Sheepish was not a good look on the female in the black bikini so she was more than thankful he seemed occupied elsewhere. She half carried, half dragged the large board towards the shore, stopping a moment to wiggle her toes in the sand once she found herself ankle deep and giggling at the pleasurable feeling it produced. The rest of this journey was still probably going to suck, that was a near certainty, but if she could occasionally douse her spirits in some surf and sun, the woman reasoned she just might survive the Alola region after all. "Alright. Gotta look for my first wave.. something small to test the board.." Sitting on the waxy surface of her new favorite toy once she found the water to be about hip deep, Llorona cast her eyes on the occasional swell of ocean, watching and waiting intently for several minutes for something worthwhile to pop up. It was only by chance that the girl turned her attention back to the shore out of curiosity when Deadeye made a very distressed noise - green eyes finding Cyren and the monstrous scar he wore she had never fathomed was possible. Sure, she had seen a tiny bit of it when they were at the Pokemon center the night he had given her his hoodie but... seeing it now was more than unsettling. It was frightening. "Neh...Cyren?" She called in a morbid tone. Whatever wave she was looking for could wait- Llorona slipping off of the side of the polished wooden frame and dragging it back towards the shore. She wasn't sure what to say, or if she was even going to say anything. But as gruesome as it was, she needed to see it closer and understand it because someone had hurt her brother, and from the looks of it - badly. "I-I know that!" Deadeye scoffed at the machop, stamping his little feet into the sand while he continued to try and acclimate himself to the water. Surely he could get over whatever it was that kept him from playing with Rhea if he just tried harder. When Yami was plopped down into the sand, the Rowlet forced himself to take a few steps closer to it - though he didn't get nearly deep enough for the water to even brush the bottom of his feathers. As far as he was concerned, this was still progress even with his low proximity to the ground. "Hi Yami. Coming to play with us?" He asked, not at all expecting a reply from the Kabuto. Of all Pokemon present, Deadeye seemed to be the last to pick up on... whatever it was they were looking at, slowly rotating his head around until he saw the obvious and screeched in surprise. The human was damaged! "I... don't think so." Once the very lame statement was offered, Deadeye tore his gaze away from Cyren just long enough to spot Llorona returning to shore as well. His trainer had spoken. Clearly, she had not known about the scar either? Cyren Braithwaite The sudden shift in mood threw Cyren off until he realized what the cause of it was. "Ah. Hadn't thought about that." Their distress was understandable he supposed. The scar was rather unpleasant to look at. He sat down in the sand, leaning forward a bit so the upset Pokemon could study him better. "See? It's just an unpleasant mark. It doesn't hurt." Or at least it wasn't hurting at the moment. He felt his Litten's little paws against his back as she lifted herself up enough to sniff at the mark. "There's nothing to worry about." He tried to reassure them...right up until he realized Llorona had noticed the scar too. "Car accident a few years back. It looks worse than it actually is." He hoped that would be enough to put her mind at ease but he highly doubted it. This didn't seem like something he was going to be allowed to just dismiss. Learning something so serious had happened to her brother while he was missing did not seem like the type of thing that would go over well with Llorona. After considering each of his options he chose to remain exactly where he was. If he was going to let the Pokemon examine him then he might as well let Llorona check the scar out too. He didn't see the harm in it. "It really isn't that bad." He repeated, though he wasn't sure if he was trying to convince Llorona, the Pokemon, or himself. The pressure on his back caused by Rhea's paws vanished. She decided to sit in front of him and meow instead. He said it wasn't bad so she believe him. Her trainer wouldn't be able to move around so much or carry heavy things like that big board if it was as bad as it looked! Cyren scratched behind her ears and smiled. "Why don't you guys go back to playing? Things will be fine."
Rhea took that as her cue to hop back in the water. Yami looked lonely sitting all by himself! She was gonna try to get him to play! With an excited meow the Litten splashed a bit of water at him...only for him to remain completely still. He didn't acknowledge her at all. She frowned and looked over at Deadeye, motioning for him to join her down by Yami. "Maybe we can just sit and talk instead then. Can you do that?" When the Kabuto appeared as if he didn't plan to respond at all Rhea considered giving up. If he didn't want to play then she couldn't force him to. Right as she was about to way he moved- though only slightly. He shifted himself just enough to see her better. "I can talk." Something he regretted a few seconds later when the Litten began hopping around him and purring. "He can talk~! Deadeye! Come say hi~!" She called to her Rowlet friend, continuing her circles around the Kabuto until it began to protest. She went still then, remembering that there was something wrong with his eyes. All of her bouncing must have been upsetting him! "I'm sorry. I forgot your eyes are all weird. I'll stay still now!"SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 30/25 Wild Encounter: 30/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 6/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona BraithwaiteWading to the shoreline, the bottom half of Llorona's body remained soaked, dripping from the woman while she approached her brother without a word. At first, she merely walked past him, dropping the board into the sand where she was certain the water wouldn't carry it back out - then she turned right around with a most peculiar look on her face. He hadn't thought about it? That was his excuse? The human's reaction while Cyren appeared to be explaining his severe injury away as if it were the bite he had sustained from Yami contrasted vastly to Rhea. He might have fooled a Pokemon but she knew better. "Car accident." She repeated as if fact-checking him. If her small and untoned form had been any indication of her strength up to this point - the limits were shattered when she finally reached Cyren, tugging on his arm with enough force to bring the injury down to her level. Llorona's breath escaped her when she stood center the scar, the girl's hands reaching out at first but never quite making contact with his skin. Part of her felt like even touching it might break him if it was anywhere near as bad as it looked. "It's on your back, how do you know how bad it looks?" Llorona half hissed, letting one of her fingers press itself against his shoulder where the rift seemed to begin. Her hand started to shake a bit while she moved it down along his body, tracing the torn and 'healed' flesh across the center of the wound. She wasn't sad really - a bit disappointed perhaps that he had not told her what had happened sooner. But the majority of her physical motion was the result of rage for whoever it was that had done this to him. By the time she reached the end of the wound, gently running her finger in circles around its edge on his hip - the woman realized she had forgotten to breathe this entire time, her chest heaving a bit with the effort of drawing in a full breath of air into her lungs. There were so many questions she wanted to ask her brother, things she needed to understand! Yet, at the moment she knew everything else needed to wait. The first and only thing she could even think about doing was draping her arms over his shoulders and pressing herself against him in a tight hug. "You are an asshole Cyren Braithwaite. You've been carrying me and my stuff around this whole time." She groaned miserably, resting her face against his neck a moment while she recollected the past few days and everything he had been carrying around - the majority of which had been her own personal items. Deadeye had been so zoned out watching what was quite literally the first actual form of true and sincere affection Llorona had shown any living thing - that he nearly forgot they were at the beach. When Rhea called him, he continued to watch his trainer for several seconds. She really hadn't known either and was very concerned, not that the Rowlet could blame her... That wound looked permanent. "I'm coming." He stated absently, turning towards the water before he realized that even with how small the Kabuto was - they were still standing in water deep enough for their height to mean he would be very uncomfortable. "I see that. He might have a eye problem but that doesn't make him stupid!" He teased, very carefully taking slow steps into the very shallow water. His feathers plumed immediately in a natural reaction to the ocean. Birds were not meant to swim. "H-hey Yami? Can I sit on your shell? I'll be very still." Deadeye asked curiously, resisting the urge to fly away from the water each and every time he felt it tug and pull against his talons. Cyren Braithwaite Cyren remained completely still when Llorona examined him. Anything he could have said or done in that moment would only have made the situation worse. He was entirely convinced it wasn't nearly as bad as it appeared. He was still able to move around just fine. At the time of the accident he had even tried to get up and walk it off- an admittedly terrible idea but an attempt had still been made all the same. Feeling someone touch the scar was strange. Llorona seemed intent upon following it to the very end though. He only dared to move when she decided to hug him. "Aye. That I just might be." Cyren turned, hugging his sister close to himself. He wasn't the best when it came to expressing how he felt but now seemed like an appropriate time for him to try to be literally anything but the wall he usually was- at least for Llorona's sake. "It's okay, little one. Really. I'm damaged but I'm not broken." Damaged but not broken was the best description he could come up for the state of his body. Cyren was too stubborn for his own good sometimes- especially when it came to what his body could do. So long as he was able to move round he would continue to push his body as far as he could. "I'll be fine. I could carry you and your things through this entire region if I had to." He said, letting a bit of playfulness back into his tone in an attempt to brighten the mood some. She was supposed to be enjoying her time at the beach. Instead she was stuck worrying over him. He kissed the top of her head before stepping away from her, motioning towards her abandoned surfboard. "You're supposed to be testing out your new board. I promise I'm fine. If at any point it starts to bother me I'll let you know right away." While it wasn't much, he hoped that offering to keep her informed about the state of his injury over the course of their trip would be enough to put her mind at ease for now.
Yami had gone silent again by the time Deadeye had decided to join them. He didn't protest when the Rowlet requested permission to sit on his shell though, humming softly in approval and tilting his shell towards him just a bit before settling back into his original position. The Kabuto wasn't much in the mood to talk. He was still trying to adjust to the world outside of his Pokeball despite how long he had been out of it. Beside him the Litten decided to lay in the water too, keeping one of her paws pressed against him. She was trying to comfort the skittish Pokemon. If she kept her paw on him then maybe he would know there was nothing to panic about. He was safe so long as they were there. Venus decided to sit down near them, though her attention was fixed on their trainer. Humans were more resilient than she had given them credit for. "Humans are strong." She commented absently, toying with the sandy ground beside her to pass the time. She hoped the mood would improve soon. They were supposed to be having fun. "Do you think any of the other Pokemon on your team will join us?" She asked the Rowlet curiously. They seemed to be sticking to the shore.SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 31/25 Wild Encounter: 31/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 7/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona BraithwaiteEven while she embraced the male, Llorona was well aware that she was shaking just a bit in her anger. 'car accident' wasn't a good enough explanation when it mutilated your older brother. When he shifted her enough to return the hug the woman resisted a moment. As far as she was concerned he was still in the dog house so to speak for not telling her of his injury sooner! "Not might. Definitely an asshole." She muttered into his shoulder. Even with the way she felt, and the way Cyren was acting, Llorona couldn't help but feel bad for him, so much so in fact that she physically bit her tongue to prevent any additional questions such as 'Who did this? Where can I find them? How would you like them killed?' Instead, she focused on her brother, giving him an extra squeeze before finally letting go of the male. "I want to believe you. If you weren't at least okay you wouldn't be here... Damaged but not broken, Right?" She asked, half repeating what he said to her with an unusual amount of depression. He didn't have to tell her that it probably had some permanent effects on his body. Even if Cyren hadn't shown any signs of being hurt up to this point, she was well aware that it would be impossible for her let him carry anything of hers for the rest of the trip. When he pressed his lips to her forehead she tried to smirk a bit, reaching out and poking his nose. "I know what I came to the beach for Cy'. But this conversation isn't over mister. I want to talk about it later, okay?" Llorona opted to avoid telling him that she in no way believed he would actually tell her if he started to hurt. He was too calm, too quiet, and too damned stubborn for that. But now that she was aware of his injury there wasn't a doubt in mind that she would pay closer attention to him while they traveled. With about as much reluctance as she could possibly have in regards to her favorite water-based activity, she curled her fingers over his shoulder and gave Cyren a reassuring squeeze before stepping past him and retrieving the board once more. If his typical amount of willingness to tell her things before she discovered them was any indication, she would probably never learn anything of value about the eight years he was missing. Once she found herself hip-deep into the ocean swell once again, Llorona waved to the Pokemon on the shore and Cyren before turning her attention back to the waves. Once she'd had her fun Llorona was fully committing herself to badger Cyren until he told her everything about his travels, good, bad, and ugly as that scar. Yami didn't have to tell Deadeye twice - in fact, he never technically said it once, but the gesture was well received and understood by the Rowlet who quickly fluttered up a bit above the water and did his best to land gently on the shell of the Kabuto. "My name is Deadeye by the way. Thank you for letting me sit on your shell Yami." The little owl remained completely still to the best of his ability while he stood on the kabuto, trying his best to follow Rhea's example in trying to make him comfortable. If the mon' didn't want to talk he was more than happy to simply enjoy the breeze and water while he watched his trainer. 'She does have feelings I think. For him anyway.' Deadeye thought while his eyes followed her back into the water. Maybe one day she would hug him the same way she hugged Cyren if he got hurt... It was a morbid thought but the Rowlet didn't mind a scar or two if it meant his trainer might like him. When venus mentioned the rest of his own traveling companions, The owl carefully stepped in a tiny circle, choosing not to abuse his ability to have his head on backward so that he could see the others. The Rock type pokemon were clearly about as thrilled with coming down to the water as he had been... The Rattata was actually asleep next to the Roggenrola who had buried itself halfway into the sand... "Oh. I don't think we met this one. Hey!!" He called to the poliwag who seemed so completely lost and confused about its place in the world that it jumped when someone actually took the time to acknowledge it was there. Deadeye cringed in response to his own statement, fearing he may have scared both the Poliwag and Yami, though the former still seemed to sort of awkwardly begin a walk towards the trio anyway. "Me?" the water pokemon asked when it approached, stopping a few feet away and sheepishly waving its tail at them. Cyren Braithwaite Part of him hoped that at some point during the course of their time at the beach the Llorona would forget any questions she had. He knew avoiding the conversation was way too much to ask for but still- it didn't hurt to hope. He waved back to her, smiling a bit as he did so. With any luck focusing on surfing would help her calm down some. While he wouldn't be able to avoid the conversation, having it while she was less tense would be a bit easier. A calm Llorona was all he could really hope for where discussing his injury was concerned. He turned away from the water and the group of Pokemon that had gathered at its edge. Cyren had made a plan on their way to the beach and he still intended to see it through. He had a Rockruff to work with. The Rock Type in question had about as much of an interest in the water as the other two Rocks did. He hadn't tried to bury himself though. The Rockruff was pacing back and forth, trying to keep himself distracted. He didn't want to play or talk with the other Pokemon. Cyren sat down a little ways away from the pacing puppy, whistling him over and holding his hand out for him to sniff if he wanted to. Allowing the Pokemon to get familiar with him seemed like as good a start as any. He couldn't expect the Rockruff to listen to a total stranger. He needed time to decide whether or not he could trust his new trainer. The Pokemon approached him but stayed just out of reach, sitting down and staring at his new trainer instead of trying to interact with him. That was more than Cyren had expected at least. He thought the Pokemon was going to end up ignoring him completely.
The Kabuto grunted at the Rowlet, shifting just enough to make himself more comfortable with the added weight on his shell. If he was bothered at all by the tiny circle the Rowlet was moving in he didn't show it. He seemed as comfortable as he could be with another Pokemon standing on top of him. When the Poliwag approached Yami, of course, said nothing. Venus nodded at the Water Type and offered a friendly wave. Rhea, however, meowed excitedly and immediately went over to greet her. She rubbed her head against the Poliwag, though she didn't snuggle her the same way she did Deadeye. "Hi! Do you have a name? Mine is Rhea! The cute birdy is Deadeye, the Machop is Venus, and our little shelled friend is Yami! It's nice to meet you~!" Rhea was as cheerful as ever despite how tense the mood had been right up until a few minutes ago. The Litten continued to rub against the Poliwag for a few seconds longer before lifting her paw, mimicking the little wave she had done with her tail. Rhea was already convinced the Poliwag was a new friend. She wanted to make sure she felt welcome in their little group.SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 32/25 Wild Encounter: 32/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 8/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona BraithwaiteSome time had passed before Llorona was able to enjoy the water, some of it due to the lack of decent waves provided while they were clearly in low tide, and the vast majority consisting of the woman becoming distracted by her own thoughts whenever an appropriately sized wave did decide to show up. Every so often she caught herself gazing back towards the beach, watching Cyren while he worked with his Rockruff. As much as she wanted to, letting things go was not her strong suit. As time continued to pass, however, Llorona came to her senses - he wouldn't want to talk about it here anyway, and if he caught her sitting and looking so down it would only ruin any chance they had at enjoying their beach day. "Alrighy~ let's see what the Alolan beaches really have to offer." No sooner had the small woman challenged the ocean, that the ocean responded - her pupils widening at the first wave she'd seen all day worth chasing. The tide was clearly about to change yet again and that meant it was showtime! Llorona grinned, laying her form out along the length of the board and beginning to paddle towards the bulge in the ocean before it even manifested itself into that which she was seeking, every action coming quite naturally to her surprise even considering she had not been surfing in quite some time. 'God I hope they are watching.' She thought gleefully, pressing her open palms to the slick surface and pushing herself into a crouched position just as planned. What did NOT go to plan, however, was the size of this particular wave - she had ridden bigger, sure, but Llorona could usually gauge the size of what she was dealing with before it reared an ugly head. "Oh...crap-baskets." For about six whole seconds she probably appeared to have everything under control, perhaps she might have even looked like a professional! But for the very slim duration of her ride as the wave began to loom over her - all she could think about was how terrifying the fall was going to be. The dark haired woman tried to groan but it was swallowed by the crash of the wave overhead, her body dragged down and pushed around mercilessly by the current for several seconds while she attempted to do as trained and avoid hitting her head. That terrible situation never came to pass. Instead of any pain, or even mild discomfort, she felt something soft and fleshy push against her back, driving her against the current and quickly back up to its surface where she broke free and took a deep breath only to begin looking around frantically. There was always a chance that things could still be bad- especially if she had just bumped an angry pokemon when none of her own could possibly help her! "uhhh- Help? I think?""Yes you! Hi!" He raised a wing in salute when Venus greeted their new friend but seemed to understand right away that the Poliwag probably wanted a bit of space. This is where Rhea differed. The owl tried not to respond to the clear discomfort touching the Poliwag brought to the creature, chirping in a reassuring manner while they were introduced to the other water type. "N-nice to meet you all, why are you touching me?" The Poliwag shivered when Rhea began to snuggle against her. It felt amazing, the kitty was so soft! But that didn't mean she had been ready for any physical contact right away. Turning a bright shade of... not blue, the little water type seemed only to grow more embarrassed when a few bubbles quickly floated away from her lips in a near automatic fashion. "I-I'm sorry!" Breaking away from the group even though the worst of it was already past - The little Poliwag ran - or more accurately, waddled quickly into the ocean where she jumped in and began to swim anywhere that was away from the others. She had only one chance to say hello and be normal in front of her new friends and she had messed it up! "I didn't even say my name - so stupid! I'm pui, Pui!" She self-scolded, releasing her frustrations where no one else could hear her. And then she saw Llorona. Pui doubted the girl remembered her from their home back in the Unova, and if she had, the human definitely hadn't shown it. 'I was a lot smaller then I guess..' Getting distracted even when it was clear that her trainer probably needed some help could probably have summarized the Poliwag nicely, but once the thought passed she flew through the ocean current with her tail propelling her along nicely and 'bumped' Llorona before the female could hit the bottom. From what Pui knew from her time at the aquarium - humans could not breathe underwater! So she pushed the human girl back to the surface quickly before promptly returning to her previous thoughts without missing a beat, the rounded body swimming in tight circles while she scolded herself for the embarrassing moment that had just come to pass. Cyren Braithwaite The Rockruff took a few tentative steps towards him...then backed off immediately when it crossed whatever invisible line it had decided was in the sand. He had been repeating this strange behavior for a few minutes now and Cyren had absolutely no idea what to make of it. He wasn't moving or trying to pet the Rock Type. He could have rivaled the Rock Types buried in the sand in stillness. The Rockruff repeated his strange behavior several more times until, finally, Cyren tried to pet him. Then he barked excitedly, nipping at his hand- though he made it a point not to actually break the skin. "Heh. I get it. You want to play." He pushed the Rockruff over on to his side, keeping the puppy pinned for a few seconds before letting him jump back up and try to pounce on him. While his Rockruff was busy trying to wrestle with his hand, Cyren looked up to check on Llorona. He had completely missed the incident with the wave but he was still concerned when he saw her just floating in the water. "Are you okay?" He called to her from the shore, patting the Rockruff's head before standing and making his way to the edge of the water. He wasn't sure if he needed to go in to retrieve her or if she had decided to swim instead of surf for whatever reason. The Rockruff had followed him down to the water. Unlike the Rock Types buried in the sand he wasn't concerned by the water. He stuck his paws right in it, splashing a bit before making his way over to the little collection of Pokemon that had gathered around an unusually colored Kabuto.
The Litten mewled when the Poliwag fled. She hadn't meant to scare her! She was just trying to be friendly. Rhea plopped down in the sand and pouted until she received a firm pat on her back from what felt like a paw. She turned to find herself, meowing loudly and jumping up when she found herself staring at the Rockruff from earlier. "Myu!" She hid behind Venus and whined. "Jumpy little thing, aren't ya?" The Rock Type chuckled and shrugged to the best of his ability. "I think we got off on the wrong foot earlier. I...ain't got a name yet. It's nice to meet you guys though." Rhea didn't move out from behind Venus and Yami continued to stay silent. Venus, however, stepped forward and held out her hand to the Rock Type. "Venus. It's a pleasure." Rough start or not, this Pokemon was still part of there team. She didn't feel a need to isolate him because his earlier behavior happened to be unpleasant. The Rock Type placed his paw in her hand and grinned. Since Venus was quickly becoming the leader of their team, both Yami and Rhea decided to try to acknowledge the puppy too- though acknowledgement from Yami only went as far as a small grunting sound and a shift of his shell. Rhea stepped forward nervously, prepared to hide again if she had to. "H-hi. I'm Rhea. The Kabuto is Yami. W-welcome to the team?"SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 33/25 Wild Encounter: 33/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 9/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona BraithwaiteArm over arm, kick over kick - Llorona didn't wait to see whatever it was that had pushed her to the surface. She also did not exactly B line herself to the shore either. "Where did it go?" She asked herself, frantically searching for the board that she had fallen from not two minutes earlier with little success. She couldn't have lost the board, Cyren just bought it for her! The more she splashed around in a panic looking for it though, the more obvious it became that it had been dragged out into deeper waters. After continuing to paddle around for another ten minutes to be sure, her head snapped in Cyren's general direction as he called to her, risking a shy wave and calling back. "I'm fine! Be right there." Llorona muttered the latter half, making her way to the shoreline. Maybe he wouldn't notice the lack of a seven-foot piece of wood when she returned? As she waded her way out of the ocean and onto the beach, the woman took as much of her hair as she could into her hands and wrung it out, shaking her form a bit to remove the access water and rejoining the group. He was definitely going to notice. "S-so... How's the bonding going? He looks friendly-ish now." Llorona offered pathetically, watching the Rockruff but, still being quite wary of the creature herself, kept a bit of distance from it. "Looks like we both got some skittish ones on our teams huh?" Deadeye commented absently when the Poliwag fled. He wanted to help his teammate but there was no way he was going to chase the water type into the ocean either so... Snapping his attention back when Rhea seemed to cry out a bit, Deadeye plumed his feathers at the Rockruff in warning. "She's only jumpy cuz you bit her really hard!" He scolded, ignoring a bit of his fear long enough to hop off of Yami's shell and splash down into the water beside Venus and in front of Rhea. "You better be nice this time around or... or... You won't have a wrong foot to get off on next time!" It was not a good insult, nor was it cool, but it was the best the Rowlet could do. His promise to protect Rhea from the Rockruff still stood, even if his body shivered at the water brushing the underside of his feathers. When Venus stepped forward and 'shook hands' with the newcomer, The Rowlet chirped in confusion, squawking aloud when the others, including the litten - suddenly seemed to accept the creature on a whim. "What? Nyeh..... I'm Deadeye - but I am NOT on your team." The last bit was added both because of his distrust of the Rockruff and the spot of jealousy he still felt for Cyren. His own trainer still sort of lacked in most areas. Swimming around in the open ocean was fun once Pui ran out of insults for herself, lazily propelling her small, rounded body through the water and watching her trainer swim about as well as any human. "They always look so funny trying to swim. Needs more tailfin!" She spoke to herself, watching the human do... Whatever she was doing for some time until eventually, Llorona paddled to shore. The Poliwag knew that it would have to return to shore itself sooner or later but the mere thought of that embarrassment caused Pui to whine and let the current carry her for a few moments. Carry her right up until she bumped her head on a floating piece of wood. "Oh, The human is a litterer?! Why is my trainer littering!" Blowing bubbles in annoyance, the Poliwag burst from the ocean and landed on the back of the board. Her balance for having no arms would probably have been classified as impossible if anyone had actually seen it. Once there, the little water type stuck her tail into the water and paddled with all of the ferocity of a pokemon who had seen an injustice done to nature! Her trainer was going to be scolded for this, even if Pui wasn't sure how she was going to do this with as shy as she was. Cyren Braithwaite Watching her swim about, he almost felt it safe to assume that she had just decided to swim instead. The water did appear pretty calm today. Maybe she hadn't found a wave. When she was on the shore again her retrieved her towel and dd it over her shoulders. "I honestly have no idea how it's going. He's...strange." Cyren couldn't make heads or tails of his Rockruff. He had seemed so aggressive before but now he only wanted to play. "I guess he's okay? I see your new Pokemon went swimming with you. How are you too getting along?" He asked as he pointed to the Poliwag making her way back to the shore with the surfboard. Letting the Pokemon play with it was very sweet of Llorona. She was going great with the little Water Type already! He patted Llorona's head gently and smiled at her. "It's good to see you're trying to bond with one of your Pokemon." Cyren was completely oblivious to her entire ordeal in the water. He was just glad to see Llorona playing with one of her Pokemon. The Poliwag was pretty cute. Perhaps it's adorable appearance had won her over. Whatever it was, it was progress. "If mom does start demanding that I report back to her I'll have to mention this. Perhaps it'll get her to let up a little." Unlikely but he could hope.
"I'm terribly sorry about that. I didn't mean to hurt either of you." Mars frowned and sounded genuinely apologetic. The Rockruff truly appeared as if he felt bad about hurting both Rhea and Venus. Rhea was skeptical however. While she had accepted that he was going to be part of their team, she still didn't trust him. She stood behind Deadeye, nuzzling the Rowlet in an attempt to get him to calm down. The Rockruff hadn't tried anything...yet. If he was going to be peaceful then they could attempt to be too. "Maybe talking to our trainer made him feel more comfortable?" Rhea whispered to Deadeye, trying to make sense of the sudden shift in the puppy's attitude. "It's nice to meet you, Deadeye! You're not part of the team? Why are you over here then?" Mars questioned him in as friendly a tone as he possibly could despite how clearly passive aggressive he was being. He tilted his head and frowning just a bit. "I'm sorry. That sounded very rude, didn't it?" He didn't bother waiting for an answer. The Rockruff wandered back over towards Cyren. He was already bored of chatting with them. At least his trainer looked like he could be fun to play with. Rhea hissed when the Rockruff was gone and snuggled up to Deadeye. "He's a meanieface."SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 34/25 Wild Encounter: 34/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 10/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona BraithwaiteThe moment she was handed a towel the woman dried her hair out to the best of her abilities. A cold body she could deal with, but cold and wet hair was not a fun experience. After finishing with her hair and patting herself dry, Llorona shivered a bit in the breeze. It was still warm outside - she doubted it ever actually got cold here, but the ocean itself had been a bit cooler than she'd imagined to begin with. "Strange? Strange how?" The towel found its way around her waist snugly while she questioned Cyren, quick to change the subject to anything that wasn't 'where is that super expensive surfboard I got you?'. One quick glance at the Rockruff seemed to indicate it was friendly enough, even kind of cute as far as wolf rock types went. But there was something a bit standoffish about the pokemon that she just couldn't place. "Yeah- he was definitely the unfriendliest when we first met him... And I'm getting along with who again?" Her eyes followed the length of Cyren's arm out to the sea, twitching a bit when they caught sight of the Poliwag steadily fighting the current on her board! All at once the tense feeling in her body gave way to slumped shoulders and a sigh of relief. The woman even laughed nervously as 'Pui' finally hopped off of it and began to push the piece of wood in her direction. This was not an easy task for a pokemon with no hands or arms. "O-oh! Yeah....Eh, YOU? Good job out there! Keep at it and you'll be as good as me someday!" If Llorona had poured sarcasm any thicker than she was when the human scooped up her rather frantic pokemon and hugged it to herself, she would have drowned. Still, even if it was extremely exaggerated - Llorona was genuinely happy to see the Poliwag had helped her out, possibly twice since the little water type's skin definitely felt the same as what had bumped her up to the surface when she'd fallen earlier. "You are a good girl! I am definitely liking you a lot~!..... And yes, please tell mom I am bonding with my pe-Pokemon." Happy with the beach? yes. Thrilled by her poliwag returning the board to her? Absolutely! But that didn't mean she wasn't going to try everything in her power to get out of the Alola region as quickly as possible. "Cuz'! My trainer is friends with your trainer. And I am friends with Rhea." He stated proudly, puffing out his chest when Rhea nuzzled him. If anything, her affection only made Deadeye that much more brave, both in regards to the Rockruff and the uneasy feeling of the water washing over his talons. Rhea's reasoning, while completely possible given that Cyren was an amazing human being, and definitely a better trainer than his own, still didn't quite sit right with the Rowlet who chirped a bit in warning at the Rockruff - narrowing his eyes at the hound when it turned tail and walked away. He would need to keep an eye on that one. He wasn't going to let anything bad happen to Rhea or Venus so long as he could stand up! "He really is... I think he might be being sarcastic. Oh, Hi Poliwag!" He hadn't wanted to change topics, he liked having Rhea behind him. Deadeye liked being needed by anyone! But the little water type did not look happy at all, driving her face into the board and pushing it right past them to Llorona. "Hey! Trainer! Trainer!!" Paddling the board to shore had been one thing, but pushing it through the sand with her mouth!? By the time Pui got the board to Llorona's feet, she was exhausted, standing on top of it and trying her best not to blow bubbles while she scolded Llorona for leaving such a thing adrift in the ocean! Of course, it was never made more clear to Pui than at that moment - that humans could not understand her. The water type pokemon struggled in Llorona's arms for all of four seconds, blushing tremendously. Why did everyone feel the need to touch her?! Her little legs kicked against the hug a few moments even while the awkward struggle began to fade. She was too tired to do anything by lay against Llorona's chest and... receive praise? Pui blinked up at her trainer while the woman continued to go on about how good she was and how much she was liked. 'I think she got the wrong message.' Pui thought, the physical contact finally getting the better of her as a few bubbles slipped out around Llorona and caused the poor pokemon to shudder in embarrassment. Her trainer was laughing now! Cyren Braithwaite Llorona's behavior only added to Cyren's steadily growing confusion and he got the feeling his assumption about what had actually happened was entirely inaccurate...but he didn't press the subject. The less they talked about it, the sooner she would have an excuse to put the poor Poliwag down. She didn't appear to have any idea what Llorona was on about and she looked less than thrilled about being held. At least she had stopped thrashing. Pushing the surfboard back to the shore and to Llorona from there must have been exhausting for such a little creature. "She's small but she's very strong." Though Cyren praised the Poliwag, he made no move to touch her. The hug was more than enough physical contact to stress the Pokemon out. He didn't want to add to it. Instead he retrieved the surfboard from the ground, taking a moment to pet his Rockruff before standing back up. "What's the plan from here?" He asked, not forgetting that Llorona was the "leader" for the time being. His earlier assumptions were- probably- way off but that didn't prevent him from continuing to assume things about the situation. Llorona was drying off, which meant they were probably going to continue on to their next destination soon- whatever that ended up being. He had no idea what she might have in mind. So long as it didn't involve more shopping he wouldn't complain. They had enough to carry as it was. "Right. If mom asks about how things are going I'll let her know you're getting along with one of your Pokemon just fine." Kind of...not really...at least she wasn't terrified of this one. That was an improvement.
"Pushing things without hands must be hard." Rhea commented as she watched the Poliwag push the surfboard past them. She would have offered to help but she doubted she would have done much better. While she had paws, she still probably would have been stuck pushing it with her face too. She would have to go just as well! The Poliwag's shyness was also a problem. If she got too close to her she ran the risk of upsetting her again. She really hadn't meant to startle her with her cuddles! She just wanted to be friends! The Litten sighed, pressing her nose against Deadeye's cheek before going to help Venus retrieve Yami from the water. Llorona had returned to the shore. To her than meant they were probably going to go somewhere else soon. Yami wouldn't be able to follow them if he accidentally buried himself. Come to think of it, Yami wouldn't be able to follow them at all. He really didn't like moving. Venus eventually lifted the Kabuto up out of the water and sand. His legs began to flail immediately. Had he been on the ground he would have been scampering about as he normally did when he was moved without warning. "Calm down. I'm just taking you over to Cy.." Venus stated in a monotone, unimpressed by the Kabuto's flailing. All that moving about and he hadn't even come close to getting himself out of her arms. He was just going to exhaust himself at the rate he was going.SorukaNyoki Trainer Encounter: 35/25 Wild Encounter: 35/5 Item Posting: Cleanse Tag 11/20 (Holiday Posting) Inventory: Pokedex, Pokeballs x, Potions x, Specific Lure, Mystic Stone, Vs. Llorona Braithwaite"You really think so? I could use a strong cutie on my team~!" Of all of the icing she had put atop her cake baked from sarcasm, Llorona actually meant that last bit more than the rest. She really did like Poliwag and that was the reason her mother had sent it. The addition of the possibility that it could be both strong and cute really only served to make the woman grin. Once her joy over the Poliwag passed and Llorona set the small water Pokemon down, it scampered away with new purpose, leaving the girl to cross her arms over her chest and cast her gaze upward in thought. "Well.... It isn't quite dark yet but it will be soon. I guess we could head back to the hotel?" The Pokemon continued to chatter behind him, drawing her attention their way for several moments until lights a bit further down the beach slowly began to come on - illuminating the peer and the rides it had in an almost beckoning call that gave Llorona a new idea. She spun her form around, frowning at Cyren when she saw the item in his arms and quickly closing the distance between them so that she could wrap her arms around it. "No way, not happening. Gimmie my board Cyren Braithwaite - I can carry my own stuff." She tugged on the board expectantly, pouting at the large male and nodding back behind her while she added - "Also I totally lied, we can go back but I haven't been on a Ferris-wheel in forever! We should definitely head up there just to see what they have... The pokemon might enjoy it too, right?" It was becoming very clear to her that the easiest way to get her brother's approval for anything was to infer that the Pokemon he had with him would probably enjoy it. And, sure, Llorona was only mentioning them so that she could get what she wanted - but there was no doubt in her mind that they really would have a good time too. It was a win for everybody involved! Besides, it was very clear to her that Cyren had caught onto her overacting with the Poliwag and would probably not give her any type of recommendation. What better way to drown one's sorrow in a foreign country than to ride a few old machines in circles while eating candy? "Right? I don't think I could move that thing myself." Deadeye replied to Rhea, watching the Poliwag and wincing when Llorona picked her up. It was one part frustration that his trainer would probably never hug him that way, and one part pity for the poor thing he could hear whining from here. Now that the Rockruff was gone and Pui was becoming harder and harder to watch, the Rowlet became firmly aware that he was still standing in the ocean, shaking his feathers and fluttering upward while he waited for Rhea, Yami, and Venus to join him. They were definitely about to leave the beach he assumed, a shame since the sun was still hanging high enough in the air to put it to good use. "Welcome back." He offered to the Poliwag who had apparently come to terms that she was safer with the rest of the Pokemon than with their trainer - chirping in laughter when Pui finally spoke to him. "Our trainer is b-broke I think." Pui offered sheepishly, still a strange shade of color for a Pokemon that was supposed to be a deep blue. Their trainer was definitely... something special. She shook the last of her jitters away, slapping her tail against the ground and sighing. As much as the Pokeball had been a bit lonely, Pui almost thought it might be better for her to be there. At least in solitude, the little Pokemon wouldn't embarrass herself. "... P-Pui by the way. M-my name is Pui. N-nice to m-meet you all." It was pathetic, but it was the least she could do given her reaction to the Litten earlier. The Poliwag slowly dragged its foot along in the sand back and forth in a shy manner, waiting for one of them to comment on her running away, or her impulsive bubble blowing. Everyone always did.
