Leader Falkner

Falkner was a little more pleased with his move then he would care to admit. He watched the chaos that ensued as the other end of the field was swept up in strong winds. It worked as he planned perfectly, as he watched the red flash illuminate her side, and the Mareep get returned. However, his plan worked even better then planned as he spotted the next Pokemon that was let out. A Ledyba was put out on the field, and he was soon taunting his Pidgeotto. Falkner found the bug's courage rather refreshing, not many bugs would try and stand up to a bird. Pidgeotto, however, was less then pleased. He had gone back to preening his feathers until he taunts. Pidgeotto looked over to the bug with a very unamused look. "I hate to be the one to say it, but you might want to quit while you're behind." the bird commented in a matter-of-fact tone. The Gym Leader watched as Liz called for an attack and Astro readied for it. "Take to the skies, Hit them with an Aerial Ace!" He ordered hopping he could move before the confusion set in. The bird let out a coo, before rocketing off into the sky, whirling around in the air much faster then Hoothoot did. Pidgeotto barrel rolled down wards, only to turn just before hitting the ground and side swiped the bug with his wing as he went. Pidgeotto knew the bug wouldn't take much to he decided to not slam all the way into the bug type.

Leader Falkner

Falkner watched the Ledyba fall. It was rather unfortunate. He didn't want to bulldoze through her team, like an electric type would his, but if she had a team of bug types, and hadn't trained them he didn't have much of an option. Falkner never went easy on a person, he knew his father would be disappointed in him. He could see how frustrated Liz was getting, and he could definitely hear it in her voice. He wasn't so sure how well she was going to do in this league if she's already frustrated and he's the first gym. He might have a few more tricks up his sleeves them most, but if she's having a hard time now.. Maybe she isn't ready, like Julian wasn't his first time against him. It was almost humorous to him, if he didn't feel so bad about it. He gave Liz a kind smile, but reused his strategy. "Alright, hit 'em again with a whirlwind, then take to the skies!" Falkner called out, then Pidgeotto began to start another valley of gale force winds at Mareep and the trainer.

Falkner watched Liz get engulfed in winds again, but this time the result was almost favorable. Falkner didn't want to battle her Flaffy, but he also didn't want to have an easy knock out. Rin was re-released into battle, and that just made him grin. "Now it's on." he commented, knowing that the Furret would put up a good fight, and a good battle. He was happy to have a tough battle, it was like flying in a storm, or with strong winds. It posed a challenge, and even with a failure, he felt better with that then a clean sweep. It just felt so... empty when he could burn through someone else's team. This was the battle he wanted. Falkner could see fires in her eyes to match her bright red hair, so he decided not to pick on her with whirlwinds any further. Before he could call out for an attack, she was ready. Pidgeotto readied for the attack, and tried to take to the skies but Rin was much to fast, and took him to the ground with quite a few swipes. With a few squawks, and flying feathers, Pidgeotto was able to fight his way free and took to the skies angrily, and quickly, circling Rin in a tight circle. "No, I think I did." Falkner commented about not doing himself any favors. "Now if I lose, or win, I know the results were fair. It'll be from your Pokemon's strength. Not your ability to strike me down with electricity." Falkner finished. Speaking in the quick break while Pidgeotto looked over his feathers, making sure he didn't lose too many. "Now, Pidgeotto, use Aerial Ace!" he called out, just what the bird was waiting for. The bird dove downward again, much quicker then before, and rammed into Rin at full force.

There wasn't much Falkner could do, after Pidgeotto dove down for another attack and was caught by the Furret in another flurry of attacks. Falkner could already tell that his Pidgeotto was down and out. The Gym Leader returned his fallen bird and let out a grin. It was a fair battle, he may have only delayed his defeat a few times over within the battle, but he was glad to see that the opponent prevailed despite all of his strategies. With everything he had seen, he was confident in giving her the badge, she showed her Pokemon's strength, and earned it, however her anger was something he was concerned about. He had begun across the field towards Liz, and began digging in his pockets for the badge. "Despite everything I threw at you, you still won. You and your Pokemon definitely have earned this." he told her, handing her the Zephyr Badge. Falkner's Pidgeot landed behind him once more, ready for more flying, but Falkner stayed a few more moments to give a bit of advise, and the rest of the items. "You know, Gym Battles will never be easy, and it'll only get harder from here." He warned her kindly, pulling out a few more items for her. "I have no doubt that you and your Pokemon can go all they way, they all looked strong and brave, but it's all in good sport. Sometimes it helps to take a breath, you'll do better in battle with a calm mind." He finished, trying to give her a bit of advice in handling a battle a little better. He knew that he could have played on her anger as a weakness, and continued to switch out her team until he knocked out her team and couldn't anymore. He knew that's exactly what Whitney would do, as well as the later Gym Leaders. Though, he wasn't sure how well she'd handle Bugsy's tricks.

After recovering from the Spinda Meteor, Liz was once more tensely watching Falkner. There was going to be a fight. Liz had been certain of that. Except Falkner didn't seem to believe that was at all necessary. In fact, he went on to explain exactly why her failed strategy wasn't remotely his fault. The redness in the woman's face was proof enough to the Gym Leader that she knew he was right and it only pissed her off more. She was trying to be vindictive here, dammit! She clenched her left hand into a fist since the right was still occupied with her rewards, but she never took a swing like she wanted to. Instead, she went from red to a glowing scarlet. She didn't know what a TM looked like, but she had heard about them before, thinking they had been what she watched Pokemon learning moves from. Not little discs that were put into those devices. It was Falkner's next remark that had made steam come out of the redhead's ears. Whether from anger or further fluster, Falkner didn't wait to find out. A small part of her should have been mad knowing that he had just told her he wasn't even close to coming onto her, but her conscious mind had misinterpreted that the extra Aerial Ace was his way of flirting. She had no reason to expect to get one TM, let alone two, so that had to be a special gift.

Just before she was dragged away by Julian, Liz regained her senses long enough to realize Falkner had flown off. "Ah! W-wait. Come back here! You sneaky bastard!" She screamed futilely at the sky. He wasn't coming back. She couldn't argue the philosophy of battle any further, or make sure if he was serious about that comment he made about flirting. Now poor Liz was convinced that Violet City's Gym Leader had hit on her. It made her thoughts so very confusing that she almost didn't notice it when a Zubat flew into her hair. Almost.

Whatever part of Violet City that was still asleep would sleep no more when Liz grasped her situation. Zubat! In her hair! She began flailing and was about to run before Persian's paw cuffed the little bat free of her head and knocked Liz off-balance. She stumbled against Julian, red in the face once again after just managing to settle herself down. She should have been embarrassed with how close they were, but panic drove her instead to cling to the young man. Her grip was like a vice, threatening to break Julian if he didn't help her calm down. "Get rid of it! Get rid of it! Get rid of it!" She wailed, probably making Julian grateful for his deafness and making Noctowl wish for it. Hot tears of fear mixed with fresh embarrassment streamed down her face even as the Zubat was blown away by a single Thunder. The thunderclap from the attack made Liz tense and go silent before finally hazarding a glance at the Pokeball that was now dim. She looked up at Julian and quickly wiped her eyes before smiling back at him. "Eheh...My hero." She muttered, still embarrassed more now by her own reaction than anything that had happened to this point. She was going to die when they went into a cave...

With the Zubat incident behind her, Liz made her way down to Violet City's Pokemon Center once more to get her team healed up and ready for her next adventure. "So, where are we headed next? Azalea Town, right? That's where the next boy is?" She had gone through Azalea Town pretty quickly, but she remembered the place well enough. Especially all of the Slowpoke. The only thing she didn't remember were all of the bugs. And if she did, she had no idea why there were so many Bug Pokemon in such a place. A thoughtful expression as she contemplated Bugsy and how she would battle him, though Julian would have other plans.

Finally after the long journey through parts of Sinnoh, and through Goldenrods busy streets. They reach the not as busy Violet City. "Finally! We have made it back to Johto, and now the first stop of my journey to becoming a Pokemon trainer!" As Skylar passed by the gym, he went to the Pokemon Center and rested up his Pokemon Partners so they would be ready for the challenge that comes as the gym challenge. After his Pokemon were healed he made his way towards the gym, admiring it and finally walking inside. Right away he was greeted by a trainer who thus engaged Skylar in battle. Skylar watched as he sent out a Spearow. Skylar grabbed a ball from his jacket. "Alright Latios lets go!" He threw the ball out as the light erupted and took on the form of the Eon Dragon Pokemon. "Go and use Psyshock!" Skylar called out. The Latios tucked its arms in and released a number of psychic filled orbs which struck the bird Pokemon knocking it out instantly. "Good work." He said calling back his dragon. With the Gym Trainer defeated with ease he then moves on through the Gym.

Skylar made his way up to the open battlefield taking in the breeze that blew passed. Soon walking closer to the field he heard this and smiled. "Thank you. I am Skylar of Ecruteak City. After traveling a bit in this world, I've decided to start my training with the gyms of where I call home, Johto. I've been looking forward to this moment, my first true challenge here in Johto." he said being rather excited.

This caused Skylar to sigh in relief. "To be honest I was a bit nervous if it was necessary. But you can bet with the experience I've learned from others and myself. I wont lose." Skylar spoke. He grabbed the ball from his jacket. "As promised, you will get the first battle." he smiled. "Lets go!" He said throwing the ball, as it erupted into the light and took on the form of his Latios, he flew up into the sky spiraling and came back down as he began to lightly sparkle thanks to the suns rays. "I will be counting on you Latios! I know your rather young and new to this but I believe in you bud!" The Latios looks back at his trainer and gave a nod feeling his determination. "Alright lets go! Use Psyshock!" The Latios then let loose the orbs of psychic energy thus launching it at the Hoothoot.

Skylar grunted a bit gritting his teeth watch as the Hoothoot put his Latios to sleep. He watched as the dragon flopped onto the ground snoring. "Cmon Latios wake up!" he called out. It was no good as he saw the Hoothoot coming in and pecking away at his Latios. "Latios you got to wake up if were going to win!" The words seemed to snap the Latios out of his sleep. He got back up shaking himself off. "It worked! Alright bud lets send em flying! use Aerial Ace!" The Latios tucked his arms in and rocket off into the sky as he does a summersault and aiming in at his target. Upon coming down, he used that tremednous speed to make sure he would hit his target.

Skylar saw that they had taken down his first Pokemon with some luck after waking up right away. "Dont let your guard down, this one is alot stronger Latios." He said not wanting to risk trying to pass by easy. It could cause a mistake and cost them dearly. "Lets be ready for whatever they plan to do, use Dragon Dance." The Latios's body spun around and began to glow as his speed and attack stat rise by one stage. They now were scouting out what their plan would be to take them on.
