Event Rules and Guidelines - All normal forum rules apply during this event, and the guidelines below are the expectation for all participants, human and pokemon alike
- The content rating for this event stands at PG-13
- Once you have entered the event with a given character, you cannot leave the event and return at will. If for one reason or another you do need to have your character leave the event, please contact a moderator so we can work something out for your character, but you will not be able to return to the event
- All of the participants at the event will be tagged for every update
- Since there are going to be multiple characters involved in the event, if you are interacting specifically with another character, please tag your partner(s) in your posts so that they can find them to respond
- All dice rolls, questions, out of context updates, or general chat will take place in this thread to keep everything organized and separated
- This is a story and plot point driven event with periods of open role play and exploration. We will always state at what point and for how long 'open role play' is the expectation. Because of this, the event will continue to move forward at each junction, with or without your character. Please be mindful of these periods to make sure that no one gets left behind. If you need to break for a hiatus while in the event, but would like to be able to continue later, please communicate with a mod so that we can attempt to make things work for your character(s). Without communication and helping us help you, your character will not progress through the event and will not earn exp or other in event rewards
- There is no specific timeline for this event, there is no specific expectation that we can give about how long it will last. Please be patient with us and know that we will work to keep things moving while also making sure that everyone feels involved and gets the opportunity to have fun with their characters, it is a careful balance
- There will be, until further notice, a restriction of 3 Pokemon that a character can bring to the event, in RP. You may still have a 'full' party of Pokemon to earn posting exp, but no more than 6, out of party Pokemon will not be included in the event, but your 3 declared Pokemon will be the only ones that your character will have available for role playing
- Please be mindful that your characters are human, no one is invincible, actions have consequences, and the details for guidelines or rules that are given are laid out for a reason. We want to make sure that everyone has fun during the event, so please keep things realistic and reasonable for how your characters are reacting or interacting within the event. If you have an idea for something for your character or otherwise during the event, please contact a mod and we will be happy to discuss things with you to see what can and cannot work, but otherwise, please be mindful of what your characters are doing
- In addition, please make sure to pay attention to important plot points or otherwise; if it is said that it is raining with a severe thunderstorm, your character should not be enjoying the sunshine. Likewise, just because you yourself may know something or may have figured something out; 1.) that doesn't mean your character is aware of the same information, 2.) please do not spoil anything for other participants
- Be sure to be aware of your character's surroundings and what is going on, especially as plot updates are posted and you/your character need to react accordingly. Reading other posts for context and especially reading mod posts is important for events like these to make sure that everyone is on the same page. You are absolutely welcome to ask contextual questions if something might not have been clear or you would like more information about what's happened or what something looks like to give you a better understanding
- There are no wild encounters to be had, NPC battles will not be applicable during this event, and item posting can only be items that can be found anywhere or items that can be found in a forest
- The NPCs that are here for the event are here to be part of the plot and here to be used for interaction! You can feel free to interact with an NPC if you would like to at any point

You have been randomly selected from our marketing and focus group research as a registered trainer to be a part of our first soft opening day of Discovery Island!
After years of development, funding, research, and a vision to bring new life to the science of tomorrow and the history of the past, we hope that you will accept this opportunity to be one of our first guests. This is an all expenses paid, all inclusive, first look at what Discovery Island looks to bring to the public, including top rated restaurants, shops, resort style hotel accommodations, top of the line amusement rides and coasters, and attractions like no other park has ever been able to offer.
In accepting this invitation, your reservation will be set, and travel accommodations will be made available to bring you to our dock and boating facility outside of the Isle of Armor. There, first class ferries are available to bring guests to Discovery Island, a tropical paradise that has provided the perfect fit for our facilities.
Please note, due to the sensitive nature of this park, and wanting to maintain the highest level of safety and security for both guests and Pokemon, one guest is only permitted to have with them three Pokemon on the island. For these same safety and security reasons as well, the use of Pokemon attacks and abilities on the island is prohibited. Accepting this invitation is agreeing to the terms and conditions stated to ensure that all guests can enjoy their experience on Discovery Island.
Upon arriving, all guests will be welcomed to enjoy the shops and restaurants in the front of the park, and once all guests of this group have arrived, our head of Operations, Grace Chambers, will be your introduction and your escort into the park.
We look forward to your attendance as our guest, and may your discoveries with us truly be magnificent. - At this time, any train or boat city/town or any location that has a gym located can bring you to the Docks and Park Entrance thread in the story line events subforum. Any form of travel that makes sense for that location, boat, helicopter, small plane, the choice is yours
- Upon entering the story line thread, you must have no out of party Pokemon displayed in your posts, and you must clearly state which 3 Pokemon are going to be maintained as your “active party” for the event. The other three Pokemon in your party can continue to earn posting exp for the duration of the event
- All attendants must be in the story line thread by midnight
Sunday June 19th for the start of the event This has been extended to Wednesday June the 22nd - Until then, characters are encouraged to begin socializing and can enjoy restaurants and shopping
- Arriving at the docks, a ferry will take characters to the island, and from arriving on the island, a high speed magnet train will take them into the main park area
{Update Posted 7/23/22 by: Elemental Paradisity (Click)}Once all of the attendees had arrived, made it off of the train, and into the main portion of the park, the Head of Operations was there to greet them. She waited until the final guest got off of the train, which just happened to be none other than Professor Sonia, Roxanne, and Clemont. Grace was a taller woman, if only for the heels that she wore, with perfectly done blonde hair in a ponytail and not a strand out of place, flawless soft makeup that looked to be routine for her now, pristine posture and presentation even in just standing to wait for those gathering, and a neatly pressed blouse and skirt that coordinated with her exemplary business professional appearance. Beside her, a female Indeedee stood, holding a clipboard and beginning to compare to those who were arriving and gathering, wearing a white bow on one ear, and a pressed white blazer to match that of the woman standing next to her. Together they were the perfect business pair, and were delighted to be welcoming their first guests. Once everyone had gathered, the woman smiled a warm, perfected professional smile, holding her hands with polished nails in front of her as she regarded them.
”Hello, I am Grace Chambers. And welcome to Discovery Island,” she greeted, her voice smooth and even, pronunciation to the letter.
”We are pleased to welcome you as our first guests, the first of many soft opening focus groups to begin opening our doors to the public. You should know that your attendance with us today is one of our most crucial points in Discovery Island’s development. What you experience here with us will mold our future as the world’s finest scientific facility, and a first class experience that you can’t get anywhere else,” Grace began, this was a presentation that she had practice and prepared for just this exact moment, and she was ready to make sure that her guests were aware of just how important they were to this momentous day.
”For years our scientists and benefactors have been working to bring this vision into reality, a place where the science of tomorrow can breathe new life into the history of the past. You may all be familiar with facilities such as the Pewter City Museum and the Ambrette Fossil Laboratory. Those technologies are the pinnacle of being able to study fossils and fossil Pokemon, and even reviving the DNA within a fossil to bring forth a living Pokemon. But what if I told you that those technologies are now obsolete, and the future is here on this island,” Grace continued.
”Here on Discovery Island, our scientists have gone even further with the development of DNA and genetic technology, and have taken it beyond what any fossil enthusiast could have ever imagined. Fossils having to maintain the Rock Typing in their genome because of the fragile nature of the preserved DNA, the building blocks that we’ve built upon. Here, on Discovery Island, every Pokemon that you see has a complete DNA structure, just as they would have if they had never gone extinct at all,” she explained proudly, finally getting into the most important details of what it is that Discovery Island has been able to accomplish.
”You will see many Pokemon on this island, from years of fossil excavation and scouring the world for different species that had prehistoric ancestry. Shellder, Shroomish, Durant, Morelull, just to name a few familiar species, the ones that live here on this island are complete DNA regeneration of fossils that we have found. You will also see other species such as Aerodactyl and Aurorus of course, famous from the work of other fossil facilities. But the ones you will see here in their habitats are pure types, single type Pokemon,” she went on.
”But, our biggest achievement on this island, our grandest venture, is being able to bring to life, and bring to the world, ten never before seen species of Pokemon that have been extinct for millions of years. We have four carnivore species and six herbivore species that are unique to Discovery Island, and while I could go on from there, I can’t wait for you to see them for yourselves,” Grace commented with a smile.
”Before we can have everyone set off to explore the island, please know I do have a couple of guidelines that I need to cover with you all,” she mentioned then, making sure to hold everyone’s attention.
”All of these guidelines are incredibly important, both for your safety and the safety of all of our Pokemon that now live on this island. For as much as Discovery island is a scientific facility, this will also now serve as a wildlife refuge for these species, so that they can grow in a natural environment, and so that we may study them and continue to learn more about the world’s prehistoric mysteries,” Grace explained, wanting to make sure everyone was aware of just how important this section was, she wanted to make sure that everyone was going to have a fun, and safe, time on the island.
”First, and most important, capturing any Pokemon on the island is prohibited,” she stated clearly, this was one of highest importance.
”Second, please make sure that all of your own Pokemon keep a safe distance from the Pokemon that you may encounter here on the island. Not only is this a safety precaution, but we want to minimize any outside influence for the Pokemon here, this island has been kept as a well maintained environment for them all,” she mentioned, nodding to acknowledge the fair group of Pokemon that were already present and out of their Pokeballs.
”Third, the use of Pokemon attacks and abilities is prohibited. For the safety and security of everyone on the island, human and Pokemon, all Pokemon abilities and attacks are disabled while here in, on, and around the island. At no point will your Pokemon be able to perform any of their known attacks or utilize their abilities in any way, and more importantly that means that our own Pokemon will not be able to do the same. Pokemon communication or movement such as levitate or otherwise has not been made a concern, so those forms of natural abilities will remain. Of note, this will not harm, inhibit, or impair your Pokemon in any way once you have left the island. This has been tested and proven with perfect results every time,” Grace assured. This was key to making sure that everything would run smoothly on the island.
”Now, on Discovery Island there are many things for you to enjoy and experience, and we hope that you will have a full day of getting to see everything we offer. We have some of the world’s finest restaurants and chefs and shops and vendors from every region here in this main portion of the park. There is also a resort style pool with cabanas and towel service, five star hotels, and other amenities here. Continuing through the island, there is a Children’s Aquarium, a petting zoo with some of our younger herbivores, and a fossil dig zone for our younger attendees. North from there is all of our world class roller coasters, amusement park rides and arcade games for all ages. Our Aviary, one of the largest aquariums in the world for larger species, and a fantastic exclusive water themed show are in the bay area towards the center of the island. And beyond that, in the lush forests are our herbivore and carnivore sanctuaries,” Grace explained, detailing the many different parts of the island and the attractions that they would all have to experience.
”I do believe that is everything I needed to cover with you all, as our first guests it is my absolute pleasure to provide you with the best experience we can offer. Now, the island is open for you to explore, discover, and enjoy,” Grace finished, giving a slight bow of her head as her Indeedee did the same.
”I will be moving about the island, I have many many things to work on in getting us open for more public to see, so please find a park attendant and they will provide you all with anything that you need, or they will get me directly if something is urgent. Thank you all again, and I hope you enjoy your experience with Discovery Island.”
- You are now free to move about the event with your characters!
- There is no post minimum to move between threads, but please follow the island map in order to move through threads correctly. For example, you cannot move from the rides and amusement park thread to the Herbivore Sanctuary thread directly
- There is absolutely no battling and no capturing of any Pokemon, and all Pokemon attacks and abilities are blocked on the island

Power outages continued to run rampant through most of the park, lights flickering out, trams stopping in the middle of their tracks, buildings dark, and otherwise no connectivity in sight. Only a small portion of the island still seemed to be responding at all, the Pokemon Center remained on its backup generators, and the public address system that ran through the entire island continued to state that patrons should enjoy the island still at varying intervals. Hours had passed at this point since the last flicker of the power going out in the theme park to the East of the island, and nothing had changed, no updates made, nothing except for the weather as clouds began to form still from the tropical winds, blocking out the sun entirely with thick, gray cloud cover.
Far out into some of the most northern expanses of the island, the Carnivore habitats had thus far remained untouched and unencumbered from everything else that was taking place on the island. The fields were quiet, the woods were still, and everything had remained calm within this open portion of the island, but there was a startling sound of an alarm blaring, originating from each paddock gate, and lights flashed at the tops of the fence lines. Sparks flickered and flourished all over from every section of electric fence, the power levels becoming too great before the power shut off entirely, and the many gates within the area whirred and shuttered as some opened entirely, and some were left partially open with the gears giving out mid way. There was silence, before there was a serious of furious roars that echoed in the distance, the showering sparks and blaring alarms did little but attract the attention of the inhabitants nestled deep within the forests and fields.
Simultaneously through the rest of the island, what seemed to be one of the last remaining working power systems was the containment for each major attraction of the island. The fences and gates at the petting zoo powered down and swung open with their last bit of power they had, and the many enclosures within the small aquarium were now opened.
Out in the distance in the western bay area of the island, the stadium fences blared with alarms and whirring lights, and the echoing sound of something big and automated could be heard. The alarm was loud enough it could almost be heard below in the tunnels of the aquarium that were still dark due to the power having gone out. Just as quickly as everything had sprung to life, the power was shut off just like everything else, and everything around the Aquarium was still and quiet again. Moments more though, and there was a shift in the environment as swarms of water type Pokemon were moving through the water, hastened and frantic as if something had clearly upset them. Alomomola swam furiously together, Staryu and Starmie spun quickly in the same direction, and Arrokewda and Barraskewda darted through the water so quick it was like they were flying. Most of the tunnels then in that moment went almost entirely dark, like cloud cover sweeping past the sun, only to clear up again quickly enough. Another moment went by and another swarm of water type Pokemon swept through the water, and there was a low bellowing sound that echoed through the water before a shadow encompassed most of a section of the tunnels. There was a quaking rumble, then a crash, and the sound of rushing water immediately followed. There was a scream within the tunnels, followed by the cries of water Pokemon that were getting caught in the rushing water sweeping into the tunnels.
To the east in the more central part of the island, the enormous Aviary remained and stood out among the foliage of the surrounding area. Within the aviary itself, made of multiple domes and sections, there were, for lack of a better term, force fields in place to keep some of the species separated. In general the Aerodactyl and Archeops had an amicable temperament to tolerate each other, size comparison wasn’t enough to create territory disputes among them. The Garchomp and Minior were housed in another section together, the Garchomp were more amicable among their own species being able to tend to their young and form territories for themselves, and then the Anisopteryx, the apex predator, was kept in its own section. There was space enough that only the occasional territory dispute broke out, but because they were all the same species, they didn’t bother hunting each other. Within the domes, as power outages were sparking all over the island, there was a sharp surge of power before the different domes almost seemed to shatter from the inside. This agitated every Pokemon with a series of screeches and roars, and almost every Pokemon took to the air. Anisopteryx clashed with Aerodactyl and Garchomp almost immediately, as fights broke out all through the Aviary, the ferocity of it all and the sheer force that these incredibly large Pokemon had was enough to start to shake the structures on the outside. They were hitting the glass, striking each other, and quickly becoming more and more agitated until they started to attack the glass outright, and as the structures and platforms on the outside began to crumble, that catastrophe took some of the glass with it, and the Aviary was exposed. All flying Pokemon were quick to escape, taking to the open air, heading in various directions now, including towards the Theme Park area.
All across the island, all attractions and habitats had been disturbed, it only took some minutes for everything to be completely exposed, but while all of this was taking place, the public address system had changed. The same automated female voice could be heard at various distances, repeating over and over again.
