 "A bustling seaport that many visit to see its lively market stalls and famed restaurant."
North past Motostoke, the city's industry spans out to aid in the travel over Galar's natural landscape. The bridge that is built to connect the central part of Galar to the east is famous for it's industry and it's length, spanning across the canyon that can be found below. This bridge allows for travel across to Hulbury, a lucrative and very important part of the Galar Region industry, where all of the region's main sea fairing exports and imports are made. Hulbury is a thriving port and dock town with the sea expanding beyond to the east, gaining many visitors and travelers for an infinite number of reasons. The businesses here thrive, the culture is vast with as many different merchants that set up shop on the docks and beaches, and of course Hulbury is also well known for it's Stadium, the second challenge for those taking on the League Challenge.
{ Hulbury Stadium (Click)}Nessa is the official Gym Leader of the Hulbury Stadium. She specializes in Water Type Pokemon and she gives out the Water Badge to trainers who defeat her. Nessa is a natural when it comes to water types. She was raised around the water and the Pokemon that lives within it. Her father is a fisherman while her mother owns a fish Market that also serves sushi. She became Gym Leader very shortly after her own Gym Challenge, where she also met her now best friend Professor Sonia. From the very beginning Nessa was a popular trainer. She used this to her advantage early on and became a super model. Some believe this greatly holds her back, while some even believe she isn't the same person. As a model she has grace and calm demeanor however she is a very stern and strict competitor. When she's not modeling or training she can often be found at her mother's market with Sonia eating sushi. Because of her loss against him in her Gym Challenge, Nessa claims Milo is her biggest rival in the league, however he denies this. Nessa's stadium sits on the coastal side of her town, right on the water. The round shape and large size is the same as Milo's gym. The majority of it is also purple, however it has blue accents to the building as well as it's angular pillars are blue. The stadium's lobby is identical to Milo's with it's ticket desk and gift shop, however it sells Nessa model shots or figures. The audience members have many doors that lead into the stands while the trainer will be lead into the waiting room. They still with be strongly encouraged and requested to use the uniforms they were given, but it isn't required. Once ready they will be lead into a different area entirely. Nessa has made her Gym Challenge Mandatory. A room of pathways suspended over water. The pathways would look like a maze of sorts. However the necessary path to the Stadium is blocked by water rushing out of large pipes. If tried to run through them, the trainer would be washed into the pool below. If cheated Nessa will refused to battle the challenger. The path ways will have levers to redirect the water out of the pipes to clear the way. However each station will have 3 levers. one that redirects the water correctly, one that doesn't help at all, and another that will spring a trap. Either open the floor they're standing on dropping them into the water. Or will redirect the water to directly over them, thus washing them into the water. After solving the puzzle they will reach the door that opens up to the stadium, where they may learn that their challenge was broadcasted to the large screen in the stadium for the audience. It's a large flat stadium with an open roof and well maintained grassy floor. In the central part of the region, there were three towns, and while Emiri had already made it to Motostoke and Turffiled, there was a town called Hulbury that was all the way on the other side of the region from Turffield where she currently was. She wondered what it would take to make the journey through this region on foot like is typical for someone who might not have trained flying type Pokemon… But that was neither here nor there. With her gaggle of fliers in tow, Emiri and Kovu headed up the flight all the way east towards this Hulbury town in order to continue their way, while Emiri was trying to make sure that she could map out the rest of their journey through the region efficiently.
Now on the eastern portion of the region, it turned out that Hulbury was very much a coastal town that relied on the trades and ships that could be made with exports and imports for the region. However, despite the ships and docks and modest coastal style homes that all fit the motif of the town, there again was one of those giant stadiums that looked almost identical to the one Emiri saw in Turffield. She wondered if it was some kind of sport or something that was popular in the region, she knew that Pokemon Baccer was something popular in the Unova Region… Finding the Pokemon Center from the air, Emiri and her Pokemon landed in order to get their next stamp, and she went inside to meet the Nurse Joy there with her booklet before moving out to meet her Pokemon to continue through the region. Elfana Aroway Elfana found herself wondering whether or not the name Hulbury was intentional. A seaport with "hull" in the name felt intentional. The market stalls ended up being beneficial to her. She knew there was a famous restaurant somewhere in the city but she was opposed to seafood. Fish were good Pokemon and she refused to eat one. Instead she picked up a variety of different snack foods from the stalls before making her way to the lighthouse. There were a couple of cute little benches there. She could claim one for herself and eat her lunch there. She let most of her Pokemon out of their Pokeballs, deciding to turn the short break into a fun little bonding experience. The view was lovely and she had bought more than enough food for her Pokemon to share. Haruka and Elfana ignored the snacks until Kayuki and Walter pestered then into trying to eat. "It was bad enough with one of them. Now we have two to deal with!" Kayuki let out an exasperated sigh. How could two creatures be so stubborn about eating?! The scolding continued until they had both eaten what Kayuki had decided was a reasonable amount. While it still wasn't much, it was better than nothing! The Jynx had known Elfana for years. She had always been a painfully picky eater. There were few foods she actually liked and her workaholic nature often caused her to forget to eat entirely. The Jynx did her best to encourage she correct her terrible eating habits but it never worked. Elfana was far too stubborn when it came to food.
Elfana eventually returned the majority of her team. After cleaning up their mess, they continued on to the Pokemon Center. Kayuki insisted on walking with her. Walter was only one Pokemon. He needed help taking care of the doctor. Elfana decided to humor the nurse at the Pokemon Center, maintaining a basic conversation while she collected her next stamp. She was in a relatively good mood. Her normal hostility towards the nurse clones was kept to a minimum. She even waved goodbye when they left to find the train station. Their next stop was Hammerlocke. It would be the last train ride for a while. They would need to walk to get through the rest of the region.Galar

Elfana Aroway Kiro had expected a lot of things from evolving. A new, hopefully taller form that he could better protect his trainer with was ideal. The increase in strength would be nice too. What he didn't expect was the extreme change in his color palette. His body had turned a bright shade of purple. How did that even happen?! Wasn't he supposed to see the same color? The confused Toxicroak spent the train ride from Wyndon staring at his hands and trying to make sense of what had happened to him. Elfana, on the other hand, was thrilled by the change. Her little frog had finally evolved! Walter had attempted to explain why the Toxicroak was so upset with the change but she couldn't understand it. She felt that the color fit him. Elfana took his hands in her own, finally pulling his attention away from them. "Why is the color bothering you so much?" Walter would have to translate for her but if she could find out what was bothering Kiro so much about the color maybe she could help him adjust. The Toxicroak didn't say anything. He couldn't. Responding meant he would have to either lie to his trainer or admit that his biggest concern was that the majority of his body was no longer her favorite color. For some reason he had managed to convince himself that the change of color would make her love him less. He let out a weak croak and shook his head. "We'll talk about it when you're ready then." She rubbed his head and smiled softly.
When they arrived in Hulbury, they headed straight for the ship. Elfana had made it a point to get them a spot on the first ship out of Galar. Kiro refused to let go of her hand. He was afraid of losing his balance until he got used to his new form and he was kind of happy that it was something he could do easily now. Riding on her shoulders was out of the question now but being able to hold his trainer's hand as the walked more than made up for that. There had to be more benefits to his new form. He was still trying to work that out when their boat departed for Castelia City.Unova

Kira was suddenly so excited! She couldn't wait to watch the battle take place. "I'm going to be there to watch you win." She said, reassuring her best friend. Lucy nodded in agreement. "When do you want to go?" Christina thought about it, not sure. She wanted to finish eating and then she had to get dressed for the battle. She told Kira about how you had to wear uniforms while battling the Gym Leaders of Galar. She thought that was so weird, but brushed it off. "I'll go after lunch I guess." She said, rooting through her bag to find her outfit.
They finished eating and then Christina lead them out of the Pokemon Center and down the street to the arena. Kira had heard how many people came out to see these things, but still... she was caught by surprise at the energy of the crowd as it cheered Christina on through the pre-battle trail. She had to go through a sort of water park with giant pipes that spewed out so much water - like waterfalls! She had to solve a puzzle by pressing buttons that changed the flow of water from one pipe to the next. The goal was to get to the very end.
The time had come. Christina had made it through her trial with flying colors - she always had been an incredibly smart girl. Now it was time for the battle. The crowd positively erupted when she emerged onto the field beneath the stadium lights. Apparently they already knew her name, because they started chanting it in excitement. The battle was on, and Nessa's first Pokemon fell pretty quickly to a Yamper. She knew her type advantages alright.
Yamper remained on the field when Nessa sent out Drednaw. It Gigantamaxed and then stomped out the poor pooch easily, but Yamper managed to paralyze the behemoth first. Kira's mouth was by now hanging open at the titanic figure of Drednaw. This was her first experience with Dynamaxing. she wouldn't have believed this was possible had it not been for seeing it herself with her own eyes. Christina sent out a Machoke. this surprised her. She hadn't expected her friend to have such a Pokemon.
Machoke went on the offensive immediately, butKira did not see how anything could possibly do enough damage to that huge thing to bring it down. However, after a turn, Machoke dynamaxed! It became massive, and could now rival Drednaw. They clashed like something out of a monster movie, and Machoke was suddenly holding it's own. Then, apparently something went wrong because Drednaw returned to it's nromal size! Machoke then finished it off with a single kick, sending it into the stadium wall like a soccer ball.

Grim arrived at Hulbury after defeating his first gym and paused at the side of the road to rest. He sat in the grass and looked down at his new shiny badge, feeling oddly proud of himself and his team. They had taken their first step. He still didn't know if he wanted to try to become champion, but it didn't hurt to collect badges and push themselves. Hell, maybe they would try out some contests as well, Moc's habit to get excited over contest posters hadn't gone unnoticed.
For now though Grim stood and began searching out an opponent for his pokemon to train against. The next gym would be water so he had to prepare. He needed to train up his pokemon for the challenge, especially Raika. Soon enough he heard a familiar sound from up ahead and as he turned the corner in the road he came across a Eldegoss. It floated along the road and paused as it noticed them, letting out another cry and taking on a determined look. They had found their opponent. Grim took out a pokeball and in a flash of light released Moc.

Grim released Raika from her pokeball and smiled as the Yamper trotted happily behind him. With Moc perched on his shoulder chittering away happily the three made their way along the outskirts of Hulbury in search of wild pokemon. It didnt take them long to come across a wild Wobbuffet blocking the road, it's expression neutral and maybe a little confused.
"Perfect, give it your best shot Raika!" At her trainer's words Raika charged ahead and confronted the wild pokemon with a growl.

Grim continued on after their successful battle with the Wobbuffet. He was impressed with Raika even though that species of pokemon was basically a living punching bag, it had still required Raika to put in some work to defeat it. He gave the happy puppy pokemon some pats as a reward and resumed the search for wild pokemon. It would be nice if they could find a pokemon that would help them in the next gym, but Grim was torn about switching out pokemon from his team. The best option so far was to help Raika grow stronger. A sound distracted Grim from his thoughts as he followed it to the beach, finding a Lombre splashing about in the water. Time for the next bout. This time, however, Grim decided to have Raika sit and watch. The Lombre looked a little too strong for the pup. Instead, Grim released Tokumei for the battle.

Grim so far their progress was going well. After returning Tokumei to her pokeball for a rest, Grim continued on his quest for wild pokemon. Raika was learning a lot from both battling and watching Tokumei fight. Every battle they got one step closer to taking on the next gym. Although Grim was playing with the idea of returning to the fair for a little more fun before it went away. He also wondered if relaxing at the pokepark might help Tokumei release some of her anger. At this point he would try anything. Grim was pulled from his thoughts as another Wobbuffet tottled from the grass ahead and stopped to stare at them.

Grim started to pack it in and head towards the town center finally, deciding it was time to head back to the fair. As he walked he slowly became aware of something watching them. A creeping feeling had begun to slowly make it's way up his spine. Yet everytime he looked behind them there was nothing there. This continued for about ten minutes until finally he glanced back and noticed an apple sitting in the middle of the road. For a moment no one moved. They merely stared at the weird apple until finally Moc decided to fly over and investigate. However, the moment she approached the apple suddenly wiggled and two eyes appeared...

Grim picked up the pokeball with a smile and headed back to the fair.Applin Caught!

Grim finally arrived in Hulbury and stood outside of the Gym. He had decided to train a little more before taking it on, but the sight still made his spirits rise drastically. He turned away and headed to the outskirts of the town to find some wild pokemon, deciding to poke around near the water to see what he might find. Sure enough, they soon came across a strong looking dewpider playing in the water, unsuspecting of the trainer and his pokemon.Lvl 20 Dewpider appeared!

Grim headed to the nearest pokemon center to get Ronin some attention once again. The little Rowlet was training hard and Grim appreciated it, but he was careful not to let Ronin overdue it. They had to take the training at a good pace so as not to overexert themselves. Grim was beginning to understand that pokemon needed to be watched, they would work themselves into exhaustion if you let them. Especially Ronin, who seemed to want to become stronger even more than the rest. Grim promised to support him as best as he could. After getting Ronin healed they left the pokemon center and headed back towards the outskirts. Grim was still torn between going to the mines and remaining here to train. He wasn't sure what the best option was at all.

After a few hours of deliberation, Grim stood outside of the Hulbury Gym staring up at the massive building. He still might be too weak, but he decided it was worth the learning experience regardless. He hated that he was mostly relying on type advantage but it was all he really had. He merely had to trust his pokemon at this point. He returned Raika and Luckett to their pokeballs and entered the main lobby, changing into his challenger outfit before heading through the doors to the challenge area. Whatever he had been expecting, it wasn't the labyrinth of platforms and water pipes that now stood before him. It didn't take him long to understand the jist of the puzzle, however he wasn't a huge fan of luck-based puzzles. The first few levers he pulled allowed him to make his way further into the maze. Yet despite his cation the fifth lever suddenly caused a trap door to spring open underneath Grim. With a yelp he dropped into the water and vanished under the surface. As the water closed over his head Grim felt his body lock up. His mind was suddenly a panicked spiral of thoughts and he couldn't do anything but sink deeper into the pool. As his back bumped against the bottom of the pool flashes of his memories poured into his mind, namely the countless times his parent's Gyarados had tried to drown him, but also his sister's drowning. He squeezed his eyes shut and tried to force the images away and make his body move, but it was no use. Just as he was beginning to believe his journey would end here, a flash of red lit the water and Luckett appeared in the water with him. The Leafeon swam under Grim and with powerful kicks of his hind legs propelled the boy towards the surface. As Grim's head was pushed above the water he coughed and gasped for air, his body finally listening to him as he begun to tred water. He was still panicked but at least he was moving. Luckett appeared beside him and gently nudged Grim over to a ladder, helping his trainer up it and out of the water. Grim collapsed on the floor and tried to catch his breath and calm his thoughts. He had nearly died, and from something so stupid at that. Luckett nudged his arm and as Grim pet the Leafeon he felt his panic slowly subside to a more controllable level. It took him a few more minutes before he could sit up and slowly get back to his feet.A very shaky Grim made his way back into the maze, his anxiety spiking every time he pulled a lever. Luckett remained out of his pokeball just in case, the pokemon glancing worridly at Grim ever so often, concerned for his trainer. However after about thirty minutes Grim pulled the last lever with no more mishaps, making it to a large plat form where a girl waited. The gym trainer, most likely. After a quick introduction the two prepared for battle.Lvl 20 Tympole appeared!

After defeating the gym trainer Grim was led into the battle arena to wait for the Gym leader to arrive. He took this moment to remove his hoodie and wring it out, cringing as he remembered nearly drowning. He wished he would have known the danger before attempting the puzzle in the first place, but there was no use fretting over it now. He was, however, fairly horrified to realize the whole ordeal had been caught on video and played on a large screen for all to see. He could feel his face growing hot as he watched the giant screen until Luckett nudged his leg to pull his attention away.
"Thank you, bud." He ruffled the Leafeon's head affectionately before straightening up and preparing himself for the battle ahead. No use worrying about things that didn't matter. With a deep breath he took out a pokeball and released Ronin onto the field. Now they just had to wait.

Not only to make sure he completed the maze and didn't cheat. But also because he had nearly drown. She had already sent rescue to help him, but she was so thankful his Pokemon had helped him. "I see you and your Pokemon have a strong bond. Not all Pokemon would be able to release themselves like your Leafon did." She started, already on her mark on the opposite side of the field. "I'm sorry you experienced it, but you should be proud in your Pokemon." She complimented, making sure to apologize for the near death experience he went through in her Stadium. He let out his Pokemon, a Rowlet. That was an interesting Pokemon to be seen here. Granted she wasn't surprised to see a grass type. It was the smart choice after all. She let out her Arrokuda, who used it's propeller like tail to keep it up right and moving on land. "Let's get this thing started so you can get out of those wet clothes." She offered him, normally she wouldn't have minded the challenger being wet, but considering he had nearly drowns she was a bit more sympathetic. But that was where her sympathy ended. "Arrokuda, used your tail for speed and get in there and bite them." MochaThe cheering from the crowd began once Arrokuda sprung it's attack. However once the battle really started, so did the crowd. The Rowlet definitely succeeded in knocking away Arrokuda and the left blade definitely did a number on him. It knocked the fish away from the Owl and knocked him to the ground a few feet from him. Nessa watched with wide eyes, but once her Pokemon rose back to it's fighting stance, she let out a sigh of relief. "We aren't down yet, Arrokuda go in for another Bite, but move quickly this time!" MochaNessa clinched her teeth as she watched hr Arrokuda try and out run the Rowlet. Just as it closed in, the Pokemon tried to whirl around and bite at the owl once more. However, the Rowlet was much too quick for him and the move knocked him out. Nessa let out a huff of air, frustrated her Arrokuda had been knocked out. "That's a tough little Rowlet you have. But Lets see if he can keep up with my Drednaw." She spoke, having returned her first fish. However she was proud for this next Pokemon. This was one of her favorite parts, as is for her audience's. She pulled out her last Pokeball. She hit the button on her bracelet and the Pokeball grew in size "Alright Drednaw, lets show them what we can do!" She called out, throwing the Large Pokeball into the air. The pokeball released a large Drednaw, as the energy immediately changed the surrounding area, causing the sky surrounding the stadium to grow red, as winds began to gust through out the Stadium. The crowd went wild as they watched the battle ensue. "Alright Drednaw, Use Max Darkness!" The Leafon didn't seem intimidated at all by her Giagantimaxed Drednaw. She was glad to see his courage. "Alright, Drednaw use Max Rockfall!" The Large Pokemon bellowed out another roar as it stomped on the ground so hard it not only shook the entire stadium, but it also caused a large slab of stone to rocket out into the air. The slab stood out of the ground over Leafeon as it soon began to crack and break into smaller rocks and boulders that began to fall down on Leafeon.
