Discovery Island: Theme Park and Arcade

Among quite a number of other trainers and park staff, Velvet and the Oshawott in her arms tried to get through to the Petting Zoo area so they could return to the resorts and to their room, but were all dismayed to find that the Petting Zoo was blocked off, with huge red NO symbols on the doorways in. Velvet was beginning to get a little frightened, and tightened her grip on Oshawott as a result, who squeaked like a toy and gripped her trainer's arm to let her know it was too much pressure.

"Oops, sorry Oshawott.. I.. Does anyone know if they'll let us go back to the resort another way?" Velvet's quiet, fearful voice was drowned out as people around her also panicked, making even more noise now in a cluster than they had all spread around the theme park and arcade area. 

Another announcement, a good five minutes after the first one, made Velvet's blood run cold: There was a containment anomaly. Funny way to say 'the ancient creatures we revived from the dead are loose now', but the meaning remained the same. 

As soon as the doors popped open for the petting zoo and nursery area, Velvet sprang through the crowd and tried to head through, but suddenly a huge flying Pokemon flew down from above, frightening the already scared trainer into running back the other way instead. She didn't even see what it was, Velvet just went into a blind panic and fled. She dove into a prize booth, flinging poorly made stuffed animals and little plastic toys everywhere as she burrowed beneath the tablecloth. 

Oshawott wriggled free of her panicking trainer's arms and stepped out of the booth, out from under the cloth facade of the table, unsure of what exactly was going on. Sure, a Pokemon had flown down, but that was normal, right..? What was all the fuss about?

A small blue Pokemon ran in from somewhere, a round-ish Pokemon with a head fin, red belly, and short tail. When it spotted Oshawott, it opened its mouth to cry out, showing the sharpest teeth Oshawott had ever seen, which she immediately took as a threat.

"Oshawa! Osha!"

"Oh good lord, Oshawott, please get back in h-- Oh, that's a Gible, isn't it?" More fascinated than afraid suddenly, Velvet's head emerged from under the table and her arms followed, holding her phone while her elbows held her up. The Pokedex chimed that that was, indeed, a Gible.

"Oshawott, I don't think you can-"

Oshawott proved her trainer wrong that she couldn't- by suddenly attacking the shark Pokemon, slapping the heck out of it with her tail.

Once the Archen was defeated, trainer and Pokemon began to move forward again. Velvet found herself a bit turned around by her earlier blind panic, and she had to consult a big park map to figure out which way to go to escape this seemingly endless maze of games, prizes, rides, and occasional terrified screams from other people. She figured out which way to go and turned away, only to find herself face to face with what seemed to be a much larger and more developed version of the Archen her Pokemon had just beat up. An Archeops, her Pokedex chimed from her pocket, as the creature screeched in her face. 

Oshawott leapt into action, going straight for the dinosaur's face for daring to threaten her beloved trainer.

Velvet was more desperate to get out of the theme park and arcade area than ever, now that her dear Oshawott was knocked out cold. She was in her ball and safely tucked away in Velvet's bag but it was still urgent that she get one of her only three Pokemon back in tip-top condition as soon as possible. She didn't know if there was any gods up there, Arceus or Mew or anyone, but she prayed to something that she could get them all safely somewhere away from the random terror bird attacks. Luckily, she made it to the nursery gates without another encounter of the old kind, and gratefully rushed through, hoping that the baby Pokemon weren't feeling frisky with panic and wishing there was a way to get through to the resort area without passing through attractions.

Faithe was shocked by Odyss reaction, well not to the spray, that stuff really hurt in a fresh cut. No she was surprised when the big tank started to cry. She knew just the thing for this. She whipped a surprisingly big blanket out of her satchel. The amount of glitter on it was entirely unavoidable, but it was a nice blue color. She swung the blanket around creating a shower of sparkling glitter before tossing it over Odyss' shoulders "It's okay, you did a great job beating up that stupid kabutops!" Faithe exclaims reassuringly as she asserted herself into the hug, she wasn't gonna miss out on a big group hug opportunity. When something was said about swimming Faithe went cold for a second. "And, I hate swimming!" She declares as a sideways response to Odyss expressing displeasure with swimming.

Teriyaki watched Odyss reaction, she knew she was a little terse with him, but she sure hoped that it wasn't her words that put the big guy in that state, she wasn't trying to distress him. She wanted to comfort him, maybe a pat on the back? She paused realizing that a back pat was not the best idea currently with the slash on his back. How exactly was she supposed to make this work? Teriyaki's brow furrowed in thought, though it likely looked more like annoyed frustration as she worked out how she was supposed to try to comfort a big strong pokemon, if she cannot slap him on the back and give a hearty 'good work big guy.' she found herself in luck when he spoke up. Swimming, something she was not big on either, though more due to a fire and water situation than for a lack of capacity. 

Then Hana summoned another friend, a blue froggy Faithe was pretty sure that Hana had mentioned this guy previously "HELLO Zinnia!" Faithe chimes as she finally disengaged from hug mode and greeted the blue froggy friend. Just about then Riven took off. Headed for, a building? Oh a snack building! "I WANT SOME SHINLES!!" she cheers after Riven. Who did a great job whooping up on an aerodactyl. 

"Like I was saying about the buildings..." Teriyaki sighed as she watched Riven, well oddly go on a snack run, the very idea that she had figured was a bad idea. Was she wrong, and her ginger little sister right? Teriyaki paused for a moment and then shook her head, no, Teriyaki was completely correct in thinking a snack run was not a good idea currently. But with Riven already off on the snack run, and under attack?! She started to move to do something about it, when Riven showed she was capable, and she beat the Aerodactyl with a nice solid punch, it finished itself off on the wall of the building but it was still a great punch, which honestly her build did not seem very, punchy. When Riven popped back out of the building and announced she was okay Teriyaki returned to direct area situational awareness. Which payed off as an Archeops decided to drop into their area, uninvited and unwanted. So it was a great opportunity to punch something again. Teriyaki moved putting herself directly in the birds path.

Teriyaki waited as the bird let out a screech her posture shifting into a solid martial arts position. She took a deep breath and waited for the Archeops to get to the just right position. It obliged her as it dove in to attack, and at the last moment she put a full shift of her hips into a thunderous punch to the Archeops big green scalp. It hit the ground like a sack of potatoes, which Teriyaki then grabbed and tossed it, out cold into the brush out away from the group. "Now is not the time ya dumb bird." Teriyaki huffed as she kicked the dirt in its general direction. "We are dealing with some stuff right now you inconsiderate feathery jerk." she grumbles after the archeops.

"Hi Miss Faithe! Bye Miss Faithe!" Zinnia waved to their new friend when Odyss took off after Riven. There was no way he was going to let him go off by himself with so many unpleasant birdies flying around! "That thing's just like the thing at the Palace but smaller!" He commented on the Aerodactyl as they approached the snack shop. "Less spikey too!" Zinnia had no idea that they had been dealing with a Mega Aerodactyl at the time. It was big and it was scary. That was all he needed to know about it. Hanako was panicking as she watched the majority of her Pokemon gather around the little shop. Alatus was the only one who had decided to remain behind with her. The Ekans had coiled up around her protectively as soon as Odyss had gone to retrieve Riven. "Do you think they're going to be okay over there?" She asked Faithe nervously. As much as she wanted to follow them over to the shop, she knew she would only be causing them more trouble. Small, brightly colored flowers were easy pickings for upset prehistoric beasties. For her own sake it was best she not test her luck with the fossils. She kept as close to the trees as possible, hoping she wouldn't be spotted by anything flying overhead. Though she likely didn't need to worry. Teriyaki was handling the rogue fossils just fine.

Riven had no idea what sort of snacks were ideal for humans. Hanako was usually content with eating anything. Faithe wanted...whatever Shinles were. She couldn't readily identify the type of candy through the bright red packaging. The Sirene grabbed a plastic bag and dumped about half the box of Shinles packages into it. She jumped a bit when she heard Zinnia start pulling things off the shelves near her, occasionally holding out treats for her to put in the bag. "She likes this one and this one...not those ones though. She doesn't like cinnamon." Riven was slightly concerned by the amount of sugary or overall unhealthy looking treats they were collecting. Who knows how long they were going to be stuck on the island for. Could be hours. Could be days. Surely they would need more than sugar! She tried to balance it out by filling a second bag with bottles of water. A bit heavy but she didn't mind carrying it. "I think we have enough for now. If we run out later I can come back here for more." She murmured more to herself than the Frogadier or the Chesnaught with her. Zinnia had already climbed out of the window and back on to Odyss's back when it looked like Riven was ready to leave. She went to push open the door only to find it was stuck. "Of course it is." Even an unconscious Aerodactyl was capable of making her miserable. She handed the bags to Odyss through the window before climbing up on to the counter. "Hold those for a moment." If only fitting through the window was as easy for a Sirene as it was for a Frogadier.Her tentacles kept catching on everything! If it weren't for the Chesnaught standing guard she could have easily been picked off.

With Riven and Zinnia raiding the kiosk, Odyss took to looking around at the sky for anything else deciding it wanted a piece of his group. When Zinnia clambered back out, Odyss took a moment to lean in and found a few things to grab for Kintaro when they reunited. "Can I get a bag?" He hadn't seen where Riven had got it from so he had to rely on the kindness of the Sirene to make up his own pack of snacks. He tosses in some water bottles so as not to take from Riven's stock along with Boldore Candy, Licorice, and other snacks that no self-respecting kid would want in the first place. Before letting Riven out, Odyss was distracted by a soft humming. His eyes lit up at the sight of the cotton candy machine still running with sugar spilling into it and making a spun "floss" mess. He reached across the kiosk, creaking the counter with his weight, and jammed his paw into the machine, swiping wildly until he came back with a mess of cotton candy near as big as his own head. "Try this! It's fluffy and sweet!" He announced to Zinnia while they waited for Riven to come out. He kept his paw down low for Zinnia to nibble at cotton candy as he received the bags from her first, then offered to take her hand and pull her through. He would have kicked down the door but she was already halfway out by the time he realized she had trouble. Plus, he decided, this kiosk might save someone if it was still locked up. With Riven free and reclaiming her spoils from the big Chesnaught, Odyss slowly pushed the Aerodactyl away with one foot so it would be easier for anyone else to try and get to the door and window. The brief pause to be helpful to imaginary people made him last crossing the clearing and the last to figure out why the sun just disappeared...

Odyss didn't know what was happening, but his body had a better memory than him. An Anisopteryx swooped in low and tried to snap up the Chesnaught in its jaws, or smother him with its body if it somehow missed. Well, it somehow missed, and Odyss managed to jump clear of the ambush. The bags ripped as he closed his paw into a fist and smashed down with all his might on Anisopteryx's head. Briefly he smiled at Hanako and the others, thinking this was going to be the way every encounter would go. He was strong after all, what Pokemon could possibly withstand his fists! Odyss' smile was short-lived when the great beast screeched and lifted itself suddenly off the ground. Odyss flailed as the large shape bucked him off. It was all he could do to grab onto its tail as it took off and tried to rush the treeline next. It banked off when it recognized the trees as obstacles, swinging Odyss into the canopy and dragging him along as it came around to find another angle of attack. Odyss, yelling and saying bad things he learned from Jade, managed to throw Anisopteryx off-balance and bring them both crashing to the ground as it tried again to find a way into the trees where his friends were. Anisopteryx shuddered, bucked, and slammed into the earth just past the trees, Odyss coming down directly on its back. Its wings fluttered before dropping down as if it couldn't move them anymore. Odyss continued to punch and smash against Anisopteryx while the flying terror flailed in kind, battering each other senseless. Odyss even shoved his arm into its throat, losing what remained of his cotton candy into Anisopteryx's mouth. That caused Anisopteryx to sink its large teeth into Odyss' arm and swing him around wildly. Odyss screamed in pain and struggled against his opponent before getting dropped and smashing into the ground near the trees. Anisopteryx still couldn't take to the air, but it was able to flap, jump, and land on top of Odyss, clawing at him viciously while he struggled just to get it away from him. Claws tore at the injured Chesnaught relentlessly, ripping up his arms, face, and chest. Odyss wasn't showing any signs of recovering, it was all he could do just to stop the monster from slashing something vital! Odyss was trying to curl up into a ball now, getting cut up more with each passing second.

After the group was able to chase away the ferocious but equally injured predator--a surprisingly easy feat for something that had just taken down a Chesnaught--Odyss had to get help to stand again and limped his way wherever he was taken. The Chesnaught was in a sorry state, bleeding and weakly crying again. Everything hurt. He had gashes on his cheeks and forehead with blood running down into his eyes making it appear as though the Anisopteryx had possibly damaged one--or both--of them. His left arm was hanging limp and he did his best to cradle the forearm's puncture wounds with his right. As soon as he was told to rest, he collapsed where he stood and lay flat on his face. It was a great struggle to move even with his cooperation. All he could think to do was apologize. He hadn't been paying attention and they got attacked and now he was going to slow everyone down. "I'm sorry...I'm sorry...! Is ev--everyone..OK?" He whimpered, trying to open one eye long enough to take a head count of his friends. Anisopteryx--or something else--might have been able to get away with the unthinkable while demolishing the Chesnaught like he wasn't even a threat. The only one who couldn't tell the damage Odyss had managed to do was Odyss himself. His loss had been narrow, but he was under the crushing delusion he had faced a vastly superior opponent that had left purely because it didn't feel like fighting for its food twice.

Bidi sat bat on his hind legs and signed "lucky dog?" to Briar. He couldn't decide whether it was meant to be an insult or a compliment. Briar could only shrug. She had no idea. "Father is a...unique name." Going off of Ridley's tone she had no reason to believe Father wasn't actually his name. She was just going to assume his parents were eccentric. That was the nicest reason she could come up with for naming a kid Father. "Trepindashin..." The Sobble tried to repeat the word back to herself. When the answer didn't come to her, she patted Slate's fur to get his attention. "Slate! What's trepindashin?" The Arcanine tried to look up at her despite being fully aware that he would be unable to see her since she was perched on his head. "Trepidation is the uncomfortable feeling that something bad might happen." Small words were best with the Sobble. Rosalyn clapped her hands together and grinned. "I learned a new word!" Today was getting better and better! At least for her. Slate...not so much. Bidi had just settled into a normal sitting position when he was hit by a wave on uneasiness. He whined in the direction of the window closest to Slate and took a few steps back. That was all the warning Slate got before the Kabutops burst through. What he wouldn't have given to chomped on the vicious fossil...but he had to keep his distance. Rosalyn hadn't fallen off when the Kabutops attacked. That meant Slate could only lash out with his claws in an attempt to keep some distance between them. Trying to protect the Sobble left him wide open to more than a few attacks. By the time the battle was over he was covered in cuts. Rosalyn was startled but unharmed. "Slate! Are you okay?!" Briar had run over to check on him after the battle had ended. She found herself being nudged right back to relative safety by the Arcanine. Remaining by the now very open window could only end badly for them.

Things should have improved when reaching the Theme Park. There shouldn't have been any Pokemon here even in the couple of hours since everything escaped. He was wrong. Very wrong. Archen knocked into Litisaur's head to protect it from getting mauled by an Archeops that had tried to grab an easy meal. Nursery Pokemon didn't seem very combat capable, so Archeops' assessment was more than correct. Kintaro had Gandor bonk the big bird a few times before it flew off from being zapped by Gandor's electrified body. The Ghost Type yelled crude obscenities at it regarding its parentage. "Things are deteriorating. We need to move quickly. Keep to the buildings, maintain cover." He called out to his team, hoping to find them more than willing to obey. He didn't want the Nursery Pokemon following him, but he had made the mistake of not chasing them away back in the Nursery. Now they were his responsibility whether he was ready for that or not. He wandered the Park with growing frustration. He couldn't track signs of anyone in this Arceus Forsaken place. There were tracks everywhere, Kera tried to smell for Hanako or Odyss once and immediately regretted it. The smell of blood and death weren't new to her, but the artificial scents of the park hurt her nose. She whimpered and ran into a garden space to hunker down and smell something less oppressive so she could try again when they ran out of park to explore. "Kera. Come." Kintaro called out, looking to the sky as Aviary Pokemon filled it. He didn't want his Houndour to get separated just because she wasn't a fan of the park's smell. He was standing under the looted snack bar when Kera caught a whiff she was willing to chase. She stopped halfway between the garden she hid in and the kiosk before letting out an aggressive bark and sprinting toward the middle. Blood and fur and bits of Odyss' shell lay scattered around the ground here. Kera endured the park stench to confirm what she had already taken in from the air. She barked again and Kintaro stared, lost at first until he started piecing together what the fragments reminded him of. "...Odyss!" He stared blankly, getting lost in his mind for a moment. That was a lot of blood. Odyss wasn't that big. He began to look around, growing frantic. If Odyss had been taken down, Hanako had nobody else big or strong enough to protect her. Kintaro had a very short list of Pokemon that could take his place. He didn't want to consider replacing Odyss, but he was trying to reason out his sudden panic. His Chesnaught might be dead. He had to consider that reality or he wouldn't be able to recover once he was forced to face it. He had to find Hanako! "Kera. Get him." He growled, frustrated by the situation, trying to maintain his cool by being harsh. It sounded like he wanted to find Odyss just to punish him.

Kera chased the scent of Odyss' blood across the way into a small wooded portion of the park near its edge. Blood marked their path until Kintaro's chest tightened a second time. Kera nudged the blood-soaked flower with a small whine. She hadn't sensed death in this place. She would have remembered it. The stench of the park mixed with growing concern regarding Kintaro's behavior had Kera unable to discern Hanako's scent from Odyss' blood. She was as distraught by the amount of blood on what used to cover Hana's face as her trainer was. "Kera...FIND THEM." The order was stern and menacing with barely contained rage. He was going to find Odyss and he would be fine. Hurt, needing a Revive, but fine. Hanako wasn't injured, that was someone else's blood. The sweet little moron would have used her eye patch for a bandage if she couldn't figure anything else out. That was it. She was fine. She was just stupid and irresponsible and he would have to reprimand her when he found her. Kintaro couldn't recall when he picked up the bloody accessory, but he squeezed it in his hand now. Blood covered his hand and soaked into his sleeve as he did his best to keep pace with Kera who was desperately sniffing her way toward their targets. She had to focus but it was getting harder as the stress of the situation wore on the trio. Gandor had fallen silent, the Nursery Pokemon were nervously following. They weren't stupid enough to leave their new guardian nor were they brave enough to chance his wrath by getting too close. He had said several things that made it clear he wasn't comfortable with even baby Fossil Pokemon following him. "C'mon. Don't fall behind." Murmured the Ghost, nudging Litisaur forward as Archen had joined the mini Aerodactyl with Pfineri lingering near Litisaur's legs. Odyss was going to love these guys. He just knew it.

With everything going on as it had been, it took some effort to get Kintaro to focus on problems other than finding Hanako. Namely, a Gabite trying to recoup some losses. Kintaro got tackled by the very thing that had ambushed Hanako earlier. Kera and Gandor moved to intercept immediately. Kintaro let loose an aggressive howl that startled everybody. He felt his hand crack, only acknowledging it long enough to punch Gabite a second time right in the nose. "YOU WILL NOT DISRUPT MY SEARCH!" Snarled the man, flexing his hand slowly and letting the shooting pain use up some of that adrenaline. Definitely broken. That was fine. Gandor gave it his best but fell quickly to Gabite's aggression. He simply could not keep up with Gabite's strength. It made sense, being a Ghost, but it still disappointed Kintaro. He triggered the Max Revive as Kera moved to clean up the battle, Gabite shuddered as Kera struck it down with a solid paw stroke, growing furiously at the intruder and chasing it off with a harsh tackle that sent it sprawling back into the brush. With Gandor revived almost as quickly as he fell, Kintaro walked forward as if they hadn't just been assaulted by the Gabite. He paused, letting Kera get ahead and giving her a quick spray with Potions so her wounds were clean before they carried on. Hanako was waiting for them somewhere. It was important Kintaro get there before another predator did.

Delphine held the Sobble close to her furry chest as she kept an eye on both Kabutops and Arceops. It looked like Esme and Themyscira were battling the bird while Slate seemed to be doing just fine! She didn't need to jump in on these big prehistoric Pokemon without any fire power. Plus now she had a little friend to take care of. Ridley probably could battle much better than she most likely could at the moment, but she wasn't so sure about Briar. She wasn't to concerned for Church, or Father according to Ridley, he seemed pretty tough to the fox, and if anything his giant Pokemon outside could do something to help him. She felt the water starter shiver, and then ask if she was okay. "Yeah, I'm okay, your friend Slate did all the work to keep us safe." Delphine spoke to the Sobble. She wasn't one to take credit, she was scared of these Pokemon and not afraid to admit it. The canine took on the Fossil and took a few hits for it, she wasn't going to take any credit for that. Once she was sure the Fossil was down she moved back closer to Briar and Slate. She wasn't sure if they had seen she took the little water type so she didn't want them to worry. "You doing okay?" She asked Slate, hesitating to look at the unconscious Kabutops.

Ridley stopped to check on the fossil bird. She wanted to make sure it wasn't going to jump up on them. She tapped it with her pool stick just to be sure, and once it didn't react she was satisfied. She took a deep breath as she turned to her Pokemon just in time for Briar to rush over. When asked if she was okay she stretched her arms over her head to check. "Nah, it'll take more than an ugly bird to get at me." She shrugged. The shoulder she had landed on might be sore in the morning but overall she was unharmed. She had seen that Church had already booked it, and Briar mentioned that they might want to make a run for it. She looked outside wearily. She would much rather look for an employee area and just hide out until someone came for them. She didn't want to risk being attacked by more then just one or two. But Briar seemed to have decided already. She then offered her oversized hoodie to Ridley, unsure if it would actually keep her dry or not. Ridley wrinkled her nose and gave a overly judgmental look. She was not one to wear oversized clothes at all. However after a thunder crash made her rethink fairly quickly. She had been wearing a white shirt, and sure she was wearing a bra and an undershirt but that wasn't exactly what she would want to run though a tropical storm in. Her expression dropped quickly as she took the hoodie defeatedly. "Maybe not, but it's better than nothing... Thanks" She offered Briar as she slipped it on and zipped it up. She stashed her sunglasses in the hoodie pockets and pulled the hood up to cover her head and hair."You know, oversized clothes are coming back IN to style. Briar is already on the trend." Esme chimed in, getting a leer from Ridley. "We better get going, we might want to stick with Father. More teeth on our side the better. " Ridley spoke as she moved towards the door. She let Briar go first and followed after with Esme and Themyscira right behind her. Delphine hesitated with Rosalyn in her hand still held close to her chest. "Keep an eye on the skies for me okay?" Delphine asked of the Sobble. If something was coming at her from above she wanted to know. Despite her high heeled hiking boots, Ridley did well to keep up with Briar, holding her hood over her head with one hand as she ran and the other holding her own pool stick. She came to a stop as she saw Church throw the pool stick at the large bird. "Aw shit" Ridley cursed both in anger and fear as they came up on the scene. Delphine had let Rosalyn down by Briar before returned back to Ridley. "Esme, you wanted to come here. You're up." Ridley said giving her a good gentle shove forward. Her Sirene had done good at defending them in the building and she knew Delphine would be scared of it, so Esme was up for the challenge.
