 "The bright and shiny city of fun."
Considered to be the heart of the Hoenn Region, Mauville City rests in the central part of the mainland of the region where rivers and tributaries take the place of coasts and the ocean. Because of it's location and proximity to most other places on the mainland of the region, it is almost impossible to not pass through or pass by Mauville City on your travels through the region. It connects with paths and routes to many of the other cities and towns in the region which makes it a main fairway for all travelers and passers by, thus it's enormous size. Mauville is one of the largest cities in the region behind Lilycove City, and continues to grow every day because of the many travelers that move through.
{Mauville City Gym (Click)}Wattson is the official Gym Leader of Mauville City. Over his many years as a Gym Leader, through his tough battling skill, and personality, he has become known as "The cheerfully electrifying man!" Not only is Wattson the Gym Leader for Mauville, he is actually the founder of the city itself, and helped build it to the wonder it is today. The citizens of Mauville think of him as "eccentric," and he is generally loved by all, who live there. Wattson is a very kind man, but also fun loving, he even set traps in his gym because he thinks it's funny. He cares about the City he founded, and is often helping the city build and expand buy giving ideas, helping with construction, as well as continuously supplying the city with power. He's even invented a large machine that easily powers the city for free, which is installed in his Gym. When he isn't working or battling at his gym, or aiding in building the city, he most likely could be found at his house with his loving wife and kids. His gym sits in the direct center of the City. The building stands out quite a bit from the surroundings, not just because of the size of land it takes up, or because of the large electric generators that sit on it's roof, but because of it's bright color. The Gym is painted bright yellow, with orange and gold accents. The building is just as tall as it is wide, and has generators sticking off of the top of the gym, all of which powers the city around it. Once inside, the room appears to be a lobby, which appears to be much less bright in color. The tile floors are a light beige, while the walls are a faded orange, which appears to look like a professional lobby... However, it's anything but. The lobby area is completely filled with traps. Nets that drop from the ceiling or rocket out of the walls, trap doors that drop out from under you, and plenty more. And that's just the lobby. He rigged his entire gym with traps to keep the mood light and everyone on their toes. Some even fear he traps his Battle field. Though if trapped, one of the workers, or even Wattson, will come to the challenger's rescue. After getting through the Lobby, and into the appropriate door that leads to the battle side of the Gym. The room opens up into a large empty, faded orange, room. The area is relatively flat and very versatile. The field sits in the middle of the room, and has platforms for each of the battlers to stand on.  {Gym Trainer (Click)} Vivian  Elecktrike Lv. 25 HP 200 Male Ability: Static: The opponent has a 3/10 chance of being induced with Paralysis when using an attack, that requires physical contact, against this Pokémon. \This will also effect Ground Type Pokemon. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Coming over the top of the hill, Katie spotted the line of a city in the distance. "That must be Mauville..." She spoke, more to herself than to her Pokemon. She watched the city as it grew larger the closer this party came. The terrain changed abruptly - the trees gave way to steel and concrete. This meant Emolga and Aipom were now running over fences, brick half-walls, and the occasional decorative trees spaced throughout the City. Her Pokemon seemed just as excited to be back in a real City as she felt. They had been on boats, on open water, on beaches, and she hadn't stayed in Slateport for long. She planned to stay here for a little bit longer. "Have fun." She said, and a number of her Pokemon took off to explore the City. "Find the Pokemon Center, I want you all back by dark!" She called after them.

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Scout was definitely a loner, but Katie hoped desperately that he would keep an eye on them. Some of her Pokemon were young, and the young didn't always make the best decisions. She was a perfect example of that. He was stronger than he had been as a Treecko. If he were a responsible being, then he would trust that being one of the stronger Pokemon on her team meant he was able to protect them best himself. It would help him as well, learning to care about others. She went to the Pokemon Center and booked herself a room, took a steaming shower, and went out to explore the City herself. She wondered if she would come across any of her own Pokemon while she was out. This was quite a large place to be sure, so she doubted she would come across them until they met up at the Pokemon Center again later tonight. She waved in a friendly manner at the Citizens, who waved back politely enough.
This place just went on, and on, and on. It would be easy enough to get lost here, except that she had a very good sense of direction and memory. She always knew where to go if she'd been there once already. Katie enjoyed her walk. It was quite nice and relaxing. She continued to wonder just what her darling Pokemon were up to now, and whether or not they were keeping themselves out of any trouble. A mixture of wild and captured Pokemon played throughout the City, their Trainers and families watching from a distance yet with smiles on their faces. There was no reason the locals and the wild Pokemon shouldn't get along and live peaceably alongside one another.

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Owing to the fact that Katie hadn't expected to run into her own Pokemon, she had taken the opportunity to relax a bit. She had decided to enjoy this brief respite in which she did not have to be responsible for a dozen animals, and could instead, quite simply put, enjoy her walk. It came as a surprise when storm clouds began to gather a bit further down the road. It was so localized that she knew it had to be a Thunder attack, like she had seen her own Aipom use. She went into a sprint.
When she caught up, it was jsut in time to see the Thunder attack hit a wild Pokemon. She had been right, and Aipom was standing opposite the wild Pokemon. "Can't even go one day without getting into trouble." She said, though she was smiling as she threw out a Pokeball and generously captured the young seedling. She wasn't angry, and now that she had captured a new Pokemon, realized she didn't mind the company quite as much as she'd originally thought. Aipom jumped up onto her outstretched arm, and they walked off again together now. "Did you have fun?" She asked, to which the Aipom smiled brightly and nodded. "Good."TL;DR

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Katie was quite surprised to find a Pokemon Gym on her walk. The Trainer she had spoken to regarding Mauville City hadn't mentioned anything about there being a Gym here, so it came as quite a shock. She peeked in through the front door. Already the first two things she had noticed about this Gym were it's unusually bright pain-job, and the buzzing mechanical whirring sounds coming from the roof. She was looking in at a normal lobby, which she found strange for a Gym. Was the Challenger supposed to wait in the lobby until their name was called? It seemed... odd. She shrugged it off and turned away from the Gym. She would come back tomorrow and face it - it wouldn't do her any good to stroll through the front door with half of her team M.I.A.

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Katie and Aipom returned to the Pokemon Center not very long after she had found the Gym, and spotted most of her team waiting for her there at once. She smiled at them while performing a mental attendance check. Aipom? Check. Emolga? Check. Grovyle? Check. Shinx? Check. Rowlet? Check. Buizel? ..... She looked around for her orange otter, confused. "Where's Buizel?" She asked, and her Pokemon began to look around themselves as well. Had any of them seen Buizel? If so, when was the last time? None of them could remember seeing Buizel since the party had split up earlier. They looked briefly concerned and Katie began to call out for her Pokemon. "Buizel?!" She called, and did not ear Buizel reply. Where was her Pokemon! "Scout, see if you can find Buizel, you're good at jumping and climbing so look from up high on rooftops." Scout nodded and jumped at once onto the Pokemon Center's roof and out of sight. "The rest of you, go inside. We don't need to have anyone else go missing too." She turned and jogged back into the City, in the direction she /thought/ she had seen Buizel go when the group had split up. "Behave yourselves!" The blonde called out into the fading light. She was hopeful that they would find her otter, but she suddenly realized how stupidly foolish and naive she had been to let her Pokemon run loose through this City. What if those Pokemon Thieves had followed her to Mauville? Thinking about them, her panic worsened and she picked up her pace. Scout jumped from rooftop to rooftop, expertly avoiding the buildings he knew would be too high for him to reach without wasting time by climbing for no reason other than to reach the top. He heard his Trainer calling for Buizel, going in the opposite direction. He continued looking around all over the place while his Trainer did the same, hoping just as much for a safe return.

She felt she had been responsible for losing one of her friends - her Pokemon were like family to her. You can't keep family on such a short leash, you have to give them their own freedom, but perhaps she was guilty of providing them with more freedom than they could handle. She searched from the street while another of her Pokemon - Scout - searched from the skies. She passed a number of Trainers and Pokemon who seemed curious about what she was doing, but they seemed to understand she was on a mission and did not want to bother her while she carried that mission out. She ended up back by the Pokemon Gym, which likely meant she was in the center of the City, but no Buizel. Where could he have gotten off to? Wait... a thought suddenly occurred to her. -Backpack-

She gasped, clutching her side. She bent over the counter, deciding to catch her breath before she continued again. "Where is the nearest pool, or body of water?" She asked at last.
The Nurse, visibly taken aback with confusion written clearly on her features, pointed to the right. "About a block that way..." She replied. It was clear she didn't understand what was going on. First a horde of Pokemon come traipsing through her lobby, then this girl comes bursting through the doors asking about a pool? What a night... she had seen worse though, so it wasn't going to keep her up at night or anything. As quickly as she had arrived, the blonde-haired girl was gone again. A few minutes later, a Grovyle arrived looking rather glum and ignored her as it just walked off in the same direction as those other Pokemon had gone. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Just as the Nurse Joy of Mauville City had said, Katie would find a pool not far down the road after taking a right from the Pokemon Center. It was the public sort, where families could take their kids on hot days and simply enjoy the water. Buizel was swimming around in the cool water happily, and looked up when Katie called him. Then he looked around and realized that he had lost track of the time! It was dark, and he had been swimming this whole time. He splashed out of the water, landing a few feet away from his Trainer and smiling apologetically. "Don't you worry me like that again." She said, picking him up and not caring that her clothes got wet in the process. She hugged him.

Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Katie returned to the Pokemon Center carrying her dripping Pokemon and Nurse Joy suddenly understood what the panic had been about. She must have lost track of her Pokemon and was clearly freaking out about his well-being. That, at least, she could understand. Katie sheepishly walked past the smiling Nurse with her head bent and returned to her room. The rest of her Pokemon were sitting in her room waiting. Scout had been laying down on her bed, but quickly got up and looked at her innocently. "Well, just be glad I don't give up on you as easy as you gave up on him." She muttered, and put Buizel down in the room. She fell onto her bed and was out at once. -Backpack-

She'd had a dream that those same Pokemon Thieves had in fact stolen Buizel from the City streets. It took a while for her to realize that it was just a dream, and that Buizel was here and he was just fine. She returned all of her sleeping Pokemon and went out for some breakfast. She had passed a small cafe the day before without realizing it, and her feet found it again this morning for her. She took some time to enjoy a cup of coffee, and left behind a generous tip. -Backpack-

She wanted to see if she could beat whoever the Gym Leader was, and earn a third badge. She had earned the first two, instilling inside of her a desire for more. Something about that feeling just felt so... good. It gave her a sense of purpose and pride in herself that she desperately needed - though she would not have admitted such a need. She walked through the front door of the colorful gym into the lobby she had seen the day before. Though she looked around, she did not see anyone. She did see a couple of doors which, in all likeliness, would lead her to the battlefield. One of them would take her where she needed to be, but what about the other one? Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ Katie had barely taken ten steps into the Gym when she activated the first trap. A net was shot from her left, and not expecting such a thing to happen, it wrapped her up tight. She fell over and struggled to free herself, but it was useless. The thing was just too tight. "What's the big idea?! She said, panicking. Her mind jumped to the worst possibilities right away... was this the Pokemon Thieves back to act out her dream, or worse that son-of-a-bitch who had trapped and abused her? Of course neither option was likely. He was far away with no idea where she had been sent by her Parents, and those Thieves would still be licking their wounds somewhere a couple cities back.
"Let me out, right now!" She shouted, panic in her voice.
She didn't have long to wait however. A receptionist came running and helped her free of the net. "Sorry, but that's the Gym Leader's idea of a joke. This whole place is booby-trapped, so mind your step as you make your way through."
Katie stared blankly. This has got to be a joke. "I'm here to battle the Gym Leader, not to play games. Turn them off and bring him out here." Realizing how rude that sounded, she added in; "...please."
The Receptionist looked awkward for a moment, and smiled apologetically. "Sorry, unfortunately I am not able to turn the traps off. It's sort of his way of testing whether you're ready to face him... something about overcoming obstacles and using your mind." She gestured to the Gym around them. "The whole place is a test, you see." She glanced behind her shoulder to make sure they weren't being overheard. "I can tell you that you want to go through that door." She pointed towards the one closest to them. There was surely a dozen traps between here and there, though.
"That's just great." She sighed, and started walking. The next trap to spring was a portion of the floor which gave way beneath her, but she had been expecting something like this to happen and easily jumped past it. She glanced back down into the hole and saw the beginnings of what seemed to be a slide. Who knew where it lead though... she didn't want to think about how much trouble it would take to get back up here and go through even more traps. Steeling herself for what lay ahead, she got a sudden idea and sent out a Pokeball. Mamoswine, tall and powerful, towered above her. "Go to that door!" She called, and Mamoswine started walking across the room. Each trap was sprung, but Mamoswine was so large that the Human-sized nets did nothing and he simply walked through any other threats. Her way forward was clear! She ran across the room and recalled her Pokemon, going through the door indicated by the Receptionist.
Katie found herself in a wide room. She could see signs that battles had taken place here, and was convinced she was about to meet the Gym Leader. Something was off though - a girl walked out to meet her and grinned. "Ready to battle?" Hadn't that Receptionist referred to the Gym Leader as 'He'? This couldn't be the Mauville City Gym Leader, it just couldn't be. The girl didn't wait for a reply, throwing out a Pokeball which let out her first fighter. Katie was unfamiliar with Electrike, they were not native to her own Island Region, but she could guess that it had an electrical touch about it. The air seemed to hold a sudden charge. Katie climbed to her platform and did some quick thinking.
So, they would specialize in Electric-Type... she sent out her own Pokemon, revealing for the second time her Mamoswine. The giant took a firm stance, feet stamping hard enough to shake the ground. "Mamoswine, you have to use your Ground-Type move!" She called, but the Electrike had already run forward and jumped onto Mamoswine's back, biting her mammoth. She watched, worried as the thing bit her Pokemon cruelly. "Mud Bomb on the ground!" Mamoswine got the idea, shooting a blast of mud onto the ground and then throwing all of his weight into rolling over the mud. Electrike couldn't get away in time, and had been rolled over with the massive weight and covered in the electrical-dampening mud. It tried to gather energy, but was now - pardon the pun - grounded. Mamoswine gathered up more mud and shot it directly on top of Electrike. There was just... so much of the stuff, Electrike had been submerged and the Trainer had to recall her Pokemon when it did not surface.
Taking a look at Mamoswine, she noticed that he was injured from that bite wound. She decided not to keep him in the battle and provide the possibility of worsening it, so she recalled him. The Gym Trainer sent out a Magnemite; the machine hovered above the ground and stared emotionless at Katie. She nodded and sent out her golden Shinx.
The two Pokemon squared off, staring each other down (an action that was much better suited to Magnemite, who did not have a need to blink). Though they both moved at the same time, Magnemite was faster. It zapped Shinx with a shot of electrical energy. Shinx went stiff for a moment, but quickly absorbed the energy and ran to bite Magnemite's tough metal exterior. Magnemite floated up with Shinx still latched on, teeth dug in, and the machine began to emit a sound that was painful even to Katie who stood across the room. She had to give Shinx credit, the Pokemon did not let go and merely tore more into the metal. Magnemite amped up the volume, but in the end fell out of the sky as the bite became too painful to endure. They were both recalled before they could hit the ground.
"Very good!" The Gym Trainer called brightly across the field. She raced off, presumably to fetch her real challenge. She took the opportunity to heal her Pokemon and waited.

Wattson (how ironic that the Electric-Type Gym Leader's name would contain an electricity pun) walked out to the stand opposite her own. He was not quite what she had expected. So far the Gym Leader's she'd come across had been all about keeping physically fit or at least in shape, so she had just associated the Gym Leaders with tough figures. Wattson was not like that - he was a bigger guy, who appeared on the older side with white hair. To be honest, he reminded her a bit of Father Christmas with his size, hair color, and jovial boisterous voice. "Did you have fun with my traps?!" He called across the room at her, smiling genuinely as though setting them had been a real treat for the visiting Challengers.
Katie, anticipating more Electric-Type Pokemon, chose first. She sent out her Mamoswine again, and Wattson sent out his Electabuzz. "Electabuzz, use Light Screen!" He shouted, and his Pokemon raised yellow arms out to create a barrier between the two battling Pokemon. Mamoswine used Mud Bomb just like before, but with that barrier between them the attack was weakened considerably. Electabuzz stumbled back a few steps and winced, but re-focused and strengthened the barrier. He tried to use Electrical attacks, but Mamoswine tanked each jolt and kept on with the Mud Bombs. Eventually the shield began to crack. Electabuzz tried to attack one more time, but at last the Mud Bomb broke through his barrier and struck him fully in the face and chest. Electabuzz went down hard and did not stir. Wattson had admitted defeat, returning his Pokemon. "Don't worry, that was just the warm-up." He didn't mind if she got y though, it would just make her overconfident and therefore less of a threat.
'Don't worry, I won't be letting my guard down'. She thought to herself. Wattson sent out Magneton next and Katie did something that surprised even herself. She sent out the Seedot she had just captured. Wattson leaned over the platform and stared down at the tiny Pokemon, who was face-to-face with a much heavier and more powerful Opponent. "Magneton, use Tri-Attack!" Wattson ordered his machine of a Pokemon. Magneton hovered ominously, spinning in place, a hum of charging energy could be heard. Finally the Pokemon stopped spinning and the forked prongs located on three different head-like parts pointed themselves at her Pokemon. One shot a stream of ice, another a jet of fire, and the final a line of ice. Each of them hit Seedot squarely resulting in a powerful eruption.
"No, Seedot!" She called, he couldn't be out already! There was now smoke in the air, she stared through it trying to see her Pokemon, but the first thing she saw was a return trio of the same deadly elemental attacks going towards Magneton this time. Her Pokemon knew Tri-Attack?! She stared, uncomprehending. Even Wattson had forgotten about Seedot's Nature Power in his enjoyment of the battle, but it was no matter. He still had the upper hand, his Magneton was still stronger. They exchanged the same attack once more each, resulting in Magneton barely remaining in the air and Seedot unable to continue battling. She hastened to return her Pokemon and did some very serious thinking.
The next portion of the battle, looking back on it, was the worst out of it all. She sent out her little golden Shinx cub, who struggled to get in and attack (even putting on a spectacular evolution in an attempt to get faster and stronger), but even then Magneton floated out of it's way and shot more Tri-Attack blasts from above. Shinx - Luxio - never stood a chance. She returned her fainted Pokemon feeling a little bitter towards Magneton at this point. Aron didn't have much better luck. He only managed to get in a single Mud Slap attack before also being dropped by the powerful force of Tri-Attack. That was one hell of a move, one they had surely been working on for a long time.
She worried that none of her Pokemon were going to be able to handle that sort of hit. Sure Magneton looked weakened, but her Pokemon couldn't take that sort of hit more than once... they were just too small, too young, too weak. She would have to do some serious, serious training before trying for the next Gym. She knew it would be a long time before she finally felt confident enough to enter her team into that sort of challenge. Besides, if his Pokemon could keep her on the ropes with this much ease, then she wasn't even sure she'd get through this one let alone another.
Next she did something that was either really brave or really stupid... something that made Wattson look at her with grave seriousness for the first time since they'd started this battle. Now he looked about to chastise her, but she knew something he didn't. "A Water-Type? Come now, surely you..." He began. Magnemite was charging an attack as his Trainer spoke, but Katie cut him off just as Magnemite fired.
"Buizel, avoid as much of that attack as you can and use Blizzard!" Buizel got zapped, but it could have been so much worse if he hadn't dived to the side and then breathed a breath of ice-cold Blizzard straight into Magneton's center. The robot was frozen and fell with a 'thunk' to the ground below. Wattson recalled the finally-defeated Pokemon which had nearly swept her entire team. She could tell by his expression that he was disappointed, but not resigned to defeat. He still had more fight in him.
Wattson informed her that this would be his final Pokemon. It turned out to be a Manectric. The Electric-Type took a firm four-legged stance and stared fiercely at Katie. The damn thing looked ready to attack her if she didn't hurry up. Well fine, she sent out Mamoswine again hoping that the thing's attacks would be equally as useless against it as the Electabuzz's attacks had been. Mamoswine towered over Manectric, but it did not back down. It actually ran up and bit Mamoswine's leg, and quickly shot away when Mamoswine lifted a foot to try stepping on the thing. "Mamoswine, use your Ground-Type attack!" But it wasn't Mud Bomb that it used. In fact, she didn't realize what was happening until it was too late. That Z Crystal she had bought earlier had just activated, allowing Mamoswine to use Tectonic Rage. She hadn't even expected the Crystal to work, assuming it was just a thing for tourists to waste their money on like a keychain.
The massive hovering stone grew larger and larger, being added to by the minerals, dust, and all the mud created by earlier attacks and hovered over Manectric. The thing seemed too frightened to move at last, Mamoswine had been one thing but this giant collection of Earth was much larger even than the mammoth. It fell on top of Electrike, shattering into a million stones of rubble and it seemed sure that Manectric had been buried. It dug it's way out though. Katie stared at it frozen in shock. How had it even survived that hit?! Nothing should have been able to come back from that, but it ran forward and bit Mamoswine with fire-fueled teeth and Mamoswine fell over. It took her so long to register that Manectric hadn't fainted and yet Mamoswine had that she did not recall her Pokemon for almost a minute. Her giant mammoth, beaten, just like that? What was that damn thing made of? She wasn't sure, but it terrified her.
Eventually coming to her senses, she returned Mamoswine at last and replaced him with Scout. Grovyle, she knew, was fast and smart. Perhaps fast and smart enough to land just the right hit on this Pokemon to end the fight. She knew Manectric had that Fire Fang attack and that Wattson would use it - yep, there it was. (Fire Fang, now!) "Scout, Quick Attack. Use your speed to avoid getting hit!" It was no use though, Manectric was so fast that even Quick Attack couldn't help Grovyle escape the burning fangs. It seemed over, Scout struggled to remain conscious after such a deadly attack. Then the speed and adrenaline kicked in again and Grovyle sped right up to Manectric, catching it off guard and slicing with the leaf-like blades on his forearms. Manectric went down for the count! Eventually Wattson had to admit that he had lost.

He wasn't upset his Pokemon were defeated, he believe every battle came with their own rewards, even a loss. Though he was happy to give out his own added rewards upon the opponent's win. He let out a laugh as he began to move towards the girl. "This must be a good day for us both!" he exclaimed happily. "You had fun with the traps, and I got to have fun with this great battle!" he explained beaming at her. She did smile when he commented on having fun with the traps. He had seen that she gotten wrapped up in a net, but he wasn't aware of the convorsation she had with the receptionist. Once he got to her, he put his hands on his hips and he gave her another gleaming smile. "Those moves were really interesting and strong, just as your choices in Pokemon." He began as he began to pull out her rewards. "Flannery is your next step. She isn't as fun as I am, but at least you and your Pokemon will be able to use her spa! That's always fun!" He spoke cheerfully. He held out her rewards and let her take them. He began to walk out after she claimed them before calling back to her. "Have a good day, and I hope you don't find any traps on your way out!" he told her chuckling, though he knew the exit was untrapped he just thought it would be a funny little trick if she didn't. Katie Du'Mont♪ My Bartender she's from the islands, her body's been kissed by the sun. Coconut replaces the smell of the bar, and I don't know if it's her or the rum. ♪ She had done it. Katie had actually beaten the third Gym Leader and earned her third badge. Now what? Well, she still had to get through the conversation with this Watson. He seemed friendly enough, boisterous and confident, willing to offer the stranger some advice. Sure the spa sounded wonderful, but if it ended up being true that there were traps to get past to get out then she would drag him out and throw him into the first one she found. Naturally she would not actually do that, but it made her feel a little better to imagine it.
She was worrying in vain. The path to the front door was clear of any booby-traps. She made it out uneventfully, aside from the friendly assistant waving to her as she passed. Katie stopped by the Pokemon Center on the way out, deciding to have her team looked over by the Nurse. It was fortunate, really, that she was able to leave this place now. She wanted to figuratively put it in her rear-view mirror and disappear further into the region - further into hiding. -Backpack-

Lucy decided to take the lead, her reactions were much faster than the Trainer's. She could trigger the traps without getting caught in them and Kira made her way across the room to find the battlefield. A Gym Trainer came in shortly after to challenge her. Kira sent out Onix, who made easy work of both the Elektrike and Magnemite both. Earthquake was super effective against the Pokemon so Onix really hadn't taken anything as far as damage from them, suffering only a single Mirror Shot.
Kira healed him in the time it took Watson to venture out from wherever he was waiting. He wasn't going to fare much better in his battle than the Trainer had. An Electabuzz thought to attack with electricity, which was a bad idea since Onix was immune. A duo of Earthquakes knocked it out. A Magnemite came out next. This Pokemon at least was able to damage Onix with Magnet Bomb, but Earthquake took that Magnemite down in a single blow. Finally it came down to Manectric vs Onix. Manectric's Fire Fang attacks burned the giant rock snake, but even with the additional damage Onix was resistant to flame.
Even Manectric soon fell to Earthquakes that by now had shaken the entire building over and over again. Kira climbed down from her platform and approached the robust yet friendly looking Gym Leader. "Looks like I found your weakness!" She joked, grinning at him. TL;DR

"That was quite the one sided battle, and you have quite a bit of power on your side. If there's anything I've learned creating this generator it's make sure you can handle that kind of power." He advised her with a nod. It wasn't exactly a warning since he could see her Onix was well behaved. But if things were over loaded like a system, something could blow. "Ah-ha!" he exclaimed as he found the badge and held it out to her. "It was a quick one, but I still enjoyed the battle, you've earned my badge." He told her giving her his beaming smile again. They arrived in Mauville City in need of a rest. All of them were burned, though Lucky and Jasper showed it far more than the dark-skinned Rex. The Pokemon Center was the perfect place to stop. "You boys must have come in from the desert!" Nurse Joy giggled. She looked them over. "Not many people are daring enough to risk that. Hopefully you didn't have much trouble out there." She came around the counter and handed them a bottle of some sort of green gel. "Use this, it'll help treat your burns overnight. Let me check on your Pokemon and I'll have someone bring you all some food.."
Jasper handed over his Pokeballs and found three empty seats together away from anyone else. There they sat discussing everything that had taken place over the last few days. Jasper didn't speak much, so the others filled the silence with their chatting. That is, until the hot food arrived! Then the only thing they could hear was the sound of their chewing. About ten minutes after that, Nurse Joy returned with Jasper's Pokemon. "I took the liberty of booking you all a room. I am sure you're all tired, so feel free to stay the night." Along with his Pokemon, she gave him a key to room 12.

UNTIL THE DAY I DIE After their meals, Jasper and company retired to their room for the night. Under the advice of Nurse Joy, they took turns taking hot showers which would open their pores and release some of the heat trapped in their skin. Jasper took the bed, and the other two made camp beds on the ground with extra blankets. It was nice not to have to sleep in their sleeping... Jasper sat straight up in bed and stared in shock at the opposite wall. "I can't believe it. We didn't think about that at all. We could have taken shelter in our sleeping bags!" Jasper collapsed back onto the bed and sighed. "I can't believe we let the situation take away our common sense. I.. we showed weakness out there, not being able to think rationally in a dangerous situation." He was determined that he would work on that and rid himself of any weaknesses.
They went to bed feeling rather foolish with themselves. By the following morning they woke to discover that Nurse Joy's aloe gel really did help! Their burns were still pink, but they were no longer bright red as they had been the day before. Jasper got up and stretched his aching muscles. Apparently he'd taken quite a beating from that storm and the following walk back out of the desert. He was determined that he did not want to go back into that ever again. Fortunately, the only thing that awaited them right this second was the sun. Outside the heat trap of the desert, it was quite nice to walk down the street and watch the ocean to their left and hear the gulls calling out over the glimmering waves.
Normally Jasper and the others would have loved to get out there on the beach and spend a day in the sand, but they all had an unspoken agreement that they had a rather strong hatred of sand at this point. So they explored Mauville to see what it had to offer. The shops were nice and all, especially the open market, but Jasper had all the equipment he needed for the foreseeable future and shopping in the cool salty morning breeze was something for women to enjoy. He turned his nose up at the idea of spending any money here - not that he ever spent money over choosing to steal what he wanted - and left the shopping center to see what else was around.

UNTIL THE DAY I DIE Down on the beach were all manner of people and Pokemon enjoying some fun in the sun. Jasper was happy to leave them to their business. Unfortunately not all of them wanted to leave him be. Just as he was walking down the sidewalk, a blast of black energy slashed past his head narrowly missing him. Jasper turned around, rage burning in his eye to spot a Seedot. He knew at once what must have happened. The word must have gotten out among the Seedot race after they'd blasted away that Nuzleaf back in Fallarbor Town. It was here to avenge that other Pokemon for the injustice it suffered when it had only been doing it's job. Well, he would show it what came from attacking him.
Jasper smirked and threw out a Pokeball to release Kartana. Nobody now observing the scene play out knew how rare and unique the Kartana was, but they definitely hadn't ever seen one before. So they were watching to see what it could do. He couldn't use excessive force without some sort of outrage or scandal. "Blow it away!" He ordered Kartana. He'd called out the attack too soon it seemed, because another Payback attack landed right on Kartana's unique form. It started spinning as a result of the attack, only it didn't stop spinning at all. It started turning fast and faster. Soon it built up enough steam to whip up a Hurricane-force wind that blew Seedot all the way down the street and out of sight. It got off easy compared to what would have befallen it had there not been any prying eyes.
"What are you all looking at?" Jasper spat the words at the onlookers and started walking again after returning Kartana. "Show's over." The sound of a ship's horn sounded from the ocean to their left. Jasper stopped short and looked in the direction of the sound. "That boat's boarding passengers. We have no idea where to look for that bitch next, so what do you say we go for a ride?" Both of the others agreed that was a fine idea, and together they all raced off to catch the ship before it set off without them. TL;DR

UNTIL THE DAY I DIE While none of the three knew exactly what the future had in store, the present was looking pretty chill. The left Slateport without a care about what they might have missed by not taking the time to explore much. The stretch between the two cities was quite full of lush vegetation. The first time they passed through here, they had been in a hurry so they hadn't taken any time to enjoy the moment. Now they were moving slowly and letting the cool, crisp air counter the bright sunlight on their skin.
They made Mauville City a bit later than they normally would have considering they weren't rushing for a change. "You are free to do what you want, but I'm going to face the Gym Leader in this City." He pointed at the Gym. Starting in that direction, the others followed after them - they had nothing better to do in this City so they were okay with observing Jasper's Gym Battle and cheering him on. Jasper walked into the Mauville City Gym and announced that he was here to face the Gym Leader - and also that he knew he had to face the Gym Trainer so they'd better make themselves known right away.
"That would be me." A girl said, standing on the opposite side of the room. "Why don't you come and get me, Mr. Impatient?" She gave a sly smirk that made Jasper second guess storming up to her and beating her. Jasper looked around and pushed Rex forward. Rex looked back, but got the hint. Jasper waved Lucky forward as well. Between the two of them, they must have triggered half a dozen traps each They relied on their five collective Pokemon to free them, because Jasper pushed forward the rest of the way and squared up to the Gym Trainer who did not back down at all from him.
"Checkmate." He said, then walked past her onto the battlefield. taking his place, it was a moment before the girl could take her place opposite. Something about him had stunned her for the moment but she was shaking that off quickly. She sent out her first Pokemon - an Electrike. Jasper thought for a moment, and opted to send out Turtonator. "Alright, Turtonator. It's weak to Ground-Type attacks. You know what to do." Turtonator glanced back and nodded. Electrike charged, but the turtle set a shell trap. The moment it made contact, Electrike was blasted up into the air. While it was up there, Turtonator thrashed it's enemy with Stone Edge. The pillars rose up and a number of them made forceful contact with the Pokemon. It was unconscious before it hit the ground.
"Alright, Turtonator. Return." The Pokemon vanished from the field back into it's Pokeball. The girl thew out a Pokeball to release a hovering Magnemite. "Interesting. I'll keep uusing my ferocious Fire-Types then." With that, he sent out Litten. The white cat was undeniably adorable, but this wasn't a time for her to dote on the cute kitten. This was a time for serious battling. She had a method for dealing with pesky Fire-Types like this. Magnemite shot a sparking blast of electricity. Litten dodged the first, but the second had already been fired to where Litten would land. It was unavoidable!
Litten yowled in pain as the electricity coursed through it's body. When it faded at last, Litten knew something was wrong. It landed, and found that it couldn't move as well. It shuddered at the paralysis effect, drawing Magnemite in for another attack. That was when Litten struck. It pounced, biting down on Magnemite's exposed bolt and letting fire erupt from around his teeth. Magnemite made a series of electronic sounds. Jasper assumed that meant his attacks were doing their job.

Magnemite fell for the ploy and got in close. electricity began sparking from it's magnets and it was about to finish the job when Litten lunged up and repeated it's Fire Fang attack. Litten and Magnemite both dropped to the ground. There was no doubt about it, Litten was hurting and very much Paralyzed but Magnemite was down for the count. Jasper hurried forward and healed Litten, tending to Turtonator as well.
